Essay On Employee Assistance Programs
Working with Employee Assistance Programs I was glad to read about the different settings available
for the clinical mental health counselor to work within. It is always good to know several options
exists, and if you do not like where you currently are working, you could always switch settings.
Before reading the text, I was thinking of working in private practice, but I am now unsure if I would
be willing to take risks associated with the private practice area. The responsibility of being solely
liable for all financial matters, accounting, administrative work, and inconsistent revenue streams is
quite scary (Gladding Newsome, 2018, p. 385). Currently, the setting that is most appealing for me to
work in is the employee assistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the world where managed care organizations are pushing for counseling sessions to be short,
employee assistance programs seem like the right fit for short term services, with three to eight
sessions being the norm. As an EAP counselor, it is essential for me to be assured of my ability to
protect my clients confidentiality. I am aware of lines being blurred when counseling, for instance, a
boss and his/her employee. I should be able to assure both parties that the information shared during
our sessions will be held to the privacy standards required of counselor and client relationships.
Committing to professional behaviors such as maintaining a strictly professional relationship, being an
attentive listener, respecting cultural differences, and advocating for my clients. I would also be
trained in working with adults, as well as children and couples since EAP services sometimes include
the family members. An asset I would like to have is some wellness and prevention training because a
focus in EAP counseling is geared towards wellness. To become an EAP counselor, I would need to
participate in continuing education training, including substance abuse and addictions counseling;
knowledge about the business world is also a necessary asset. The Employee Assistance Program
Association (EAPA) offers training classes through its local chapters (Gladding Newsome, 2018).
Clinical mental health counselors are just one

Characteristics Of The Carolingian Empire
In the eyes of Pepin III the Short, his reasoning behind him usurping the Merovingian throne was
simple: power in all ways except symbolically was in his hands. Backed by the pope, military success
and ambition, he overthrew Childeric III to claim his singular rule over the Franks, marking the end of
the Merovingian empire and the birth of Carolingian rule. With this history, the Carolingian mindset
was set: if you were superior to that of who was in power, you deserved to be the singular ruler. In a
sense, the Carolingians took this mindset into all reaches of life, including the development of a style
of writing that would reign supreme and exert its influence into the modern era. This style of writing,
later named Carolingian minuscule, would not only dominate over other styles of writing, but would
give a greater incentive to protect truth and beauty, all while combining culture and language within a
script.
Prior to the rise of Carolingian minuscule, the empire and those surrounding it each had a unique style
of writing, with scribes taking their own liberty in how to write within those styles, creating an
insurmountable amount of variations. Within the Carolingian empire, Latin had a very strong
influence on classic works, especially those from Rome and Greece, so typically, the Latin that was
idolized was distorted by a plethora of writing styles, many of which were confusing (Aherne 159). In
the land that the Carolingians initially ruled over, the script of

Nosocomial Infection
Introduction
Of significant concern is the prevalence of nosocomial infection in acutely and critically ill patients.
The mouth usually provides entry for life prolonging interventions, such as endotracheal intubation for
ventilation and orogastric tubes for enteral nutrition in the ICU. These interventions unfortunately
require the patient to maintain an open mouth and impair the natural airway defenses. This vulnerable
position, in combination with other treatments, can contribute to a fast deteriorating oral condition and
a dependence on nursing to alleviate tube related discomfort, thirst, oral lesions and the accumulation
of saliva, sputum and oral bacteria. Colonization of the oropharynx is a critical factor in the
development of nosocomial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elderly institutionalized, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and ICU patients are at higher risk of
periodontal colonization by nosocomial pathogens because of difficulties in oral hygiene, changes in
salivary properties, and reduction of anaerobic flora.7, 8, 9 In ICU patients Oropharyngeal
colonization by aerobic pathogens occurs very rapidly because of incumbent changes in antibacterial
resistance, i.e., decreased immunoglobin (Ig) A salivary content, reduced salivary secretion,
mechanical injury induced by nasogastric and endotracheal tubes and mucosal desiccation. This in
turn facilitates the mucosal adhesion of aerobic bacilli and allows bacterial multiplication and speedy
growth on pharyngeal mucosa.10, 11 Oral Plaque harbors microorganisms in the sequence of initial
colonization and represents an additional source of nosocomial colonization and infections in ICU
patients. Plaque inside oral cavity is a dynamic and conglomerate system that associates microbes
ingrained in an extracellular pattern. This mainly results from encampment and amplification of
aerobic, anaerobic, and filamentous microorganisms on the surfaces of teeth, dental prostheses and
soft tissues. Dental plaque is predominately located on the subgingival and supragingival surfaces of
the teeth, but without

Memory Patterns In The Hunger Games
Understanding how memory, patterns, and symbols all work together in literary works will help you to
better appreciate what you are reading. Memory helps us to link one story to another, letting us have a
better connection to characters and events, since we ve already seen characters and events that are, in
some aspects, similar. Symbols let us better understand what the real theme is; is The Lord of the Flies
really only about a bunch of stranded boys who starts to killing each other, while a pig s head
watches? No, understanding that each of the boys(and the pig s head) represent a symbol helps you get
to the message the author is trying to tell you. Patterns helps us figure out which details are important
and which are not so much important, so we re not as bogged down with every detail of a story instead
of the story itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Legalizing Medical Marijuana
Legalization of Medical Marijuana The controversy on the topic is that Americans link marijuana to
uneducated, unemployed, and lazy individuals who deal with addiction. Though there are valid points
for the legalization of the drug, there is a worry about how the drug will affect the users. Although
opponents say that legalizing medical marijuana is a back door method of legalizing the drug for
recreational use, the U.S. should legalize medical marijuana because it will reduce crime, increase
revenue, provide more research, and will help treat numerous medical conditions. Many people think
that if marijuana is legalized, there will be an onslaught of crime. (Delmore) Studies have shown that
the legalization of marijuana has truly reduced the crime rate. Robert Morris, an associate professor of
criminology at UT Dallas, said, After controlling for a host of known factors related to changes in
crime rates we accounted for factors such as poverty, employment, education, even per capita beer
sales, among other things we found no evidence of increases in any of these crimes for states after
legalizing marijuana for medical use (Ferner). He goes on to say that the studies show that homicides
and assaults have decreased because of the legalization. The National Academy of Sciences found that

Summary Of Cinematic Language In A Bronx Tale
In the film, A Bronx Tale (1993) directed by Robert De Niro, the character Calogero Anello played by
Lilo Brancato, demonstrates cinematic language. The cinematic language uses various visual codes in
cinematic storytelling to convey the meaning of a film. The components of cinematic storytelling are
portrayed through various techniques such as, camera movement, mise en scene, cinematography,
sound, editing, and etc. within a film s frame to help tell the story. The main character Calogero faces
many obstacles throughout the film, but they mostly result in a battle of trying to receive acceptance
from his father, Lorenzo Anello played by Robert De Niro. Through the course of the film, the director
accordingly uses the setting of the film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major cinematic component that is noticed throughout the film is mise en scene. The use of mise en
scene of the film influences the viewer s mood and perception of what is happening. The main mise en
scene elements used in A Bronx Tale is lighting, setting, and costume design. The film uses lots of low
key lighting from beginning to end to create a depressed feeling that creates conflict and confusion.
The shadow effects also create drama and show the dark side of the characters. For example, a scene
from the beginning of the film uses lighting to highlight the good and bad characters. Calogero,
through the entire scene, is lit up with high key lighting, while Sonny the antagonist is shown in a low
key lighting. As the film moves along and follows Calogero s life, the constant use of low key lighting
helps the viewer understand the disparity that he is going through while deciding which lifestyle he
wants to be a part of. The setting is important during the course of the film, because it gives a vivid
representation of the lifestyle. The setting of the film is in Belmont, an Italian American neighborhood
in the Bronx. Another important setting of the film is the neighborhood bar, Chez Bippy. The bar is an
important attribute to the film because most of the film is filmed at the bar and most of the characters
are introduced there. Costume design plays a major role as well because it gives a representation of
the mobster lifestyle. The tall hats,

big pond that is great for fishing and swimming. We have hosted many big events at my house and it
is perfect for family get togethers or swim parties. For my family vacations, I have been to the
following places/states: Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Alabama, Connecticut, Oregon,
Canada, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Haiti, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Kansas,
Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Michigan. I have had many childhood memories, but my favorite
is probably a vacation whenever I went on the longest road in the U.S. It goes from Chicago to Los
Angeles. The road is called Route 66. We drove on most of it but near the end we headed toward
California and went camping in Sequoia National Park. We camped with some friends and even saw a
bear trying to eat some of our food. I always have a great relationship with all of my family members
and I can always count on them for help.

they are going to be quarantined on arrival back in their home country. Frieden says, health care
workers might be unwilling to help out in West Africa, making it more likely the disease will keep
landing on American shores. (National Geographic) Over the short term, some cases of Ebola in the
united states could be prevented, CNN states, but for the long term, it could back fire if highly trained
personnel have more incentive not to go to west Africa to help with the disease. Dr. John Carlson
spent four weeks working with Ebola patients and says that, healthcare workers already sacrifice their
time to those who need it, and that quarantining them might seem like a punishment, discouraging
people like him to do it again. (CNN) Some individuals also claim that Ebola is no worse than other
illnesses, such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV, or bacterial infections. They claim that at one
point in time these illnesses had once sparked a fire of fear in hearts of people around the world and
that today are looked at as not as serious when people are still also affected by these diseases daily and
also die from them daily. Quarantining people coming from African countries with Ebola is not only

Motivation is defined as the general desire or willingness of someone to do something. Numerous
incidents occur in our lives where we are motivated and numerous incidents occur where we lack any
motivation. As I am a full time student and not currently working, I chose to write this paper on my
motivation to finish my education and attain a higher level degree in health care. According to
Abraham H. Maslow s Theory, there are five levels of hierarchy of needs. During the first level, we

Steve Reiss s Theory and idea of status states that status is attained through the desire for prestige. It
also means that a person is very conscious about reputation and how they are viewed by those around
them. I am an Indian who believes in the Indian caste system. The caste system is a class structure that
everyone is born into. In the Indian culture, life is dominated by the caste system. I was born to a
mother and a father who were both born into the upper levels of the caste system. This means that my
parents enjoyed a life of high materialistic value. Those in the upper class also valued the importance
of education because those who had prestigious college degrees were the ones who were highly
respected. This component of my culture has been passed down to me and these are the values that I
live with today. I want to continue to earn the respect of my family and those in the Indian community
by going on to earn my PhD. There are positive and negative components of the Indian caste system,
but it is a custom and a practice that has been followed for centuries. There are many periods in our
lives where we lack motivation. Using Steven Reiss s Theory, and his idea of order, I am able to recall

Information On Line Transaction Processing
ETL Overview
Within an enterprise there are various different applications and data sources which have to be
integrated together to enable Data Warehouse to provide strategic information to support decision
making. On line transaction processing (OLTP) and data warehouses cannot coexist efficiently in the
same database environment since the OLTP databases maintain current data in great detail whereas
data warehouses deal with lightly aggregated and historical data. Extraction, Transformation, and
Loading (ETL) processes are responsible for data integration from heterogeneous sources into

extraction process of ETL connects to source system to extract the source tables or store them in a

Taking a Look at Virtual Currencies
Virtual currencies such as bitcoin are portrayed as an innovative design in the distribution of money
throughout the world through the use of peer to peer transactions due to it being fraudulent and
impossible to counterfeit. However, bitcoin holders are anonymous and could act in a similar way to
black markets, their bitwallet is unregulated and untaxed. Using bitcoin as a currency also delves into
the problem where users purchase illegal objects and substances anonymously.
Bitcoin is essentially an electronic cash currency and is perceived as a great success since its launch in
2009. Most e cash schemes require a centralized bank, which acts as a safeguard for potential scams or
for double spending detection. (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 401), In contrast, the bitcoin protocol
allows individuals to freely send bitcoins without any third party interference. The fee for sending
bitcoins is very little in comparison to other online payment methods such as PayPal thus bitcoin is
considered to be cost efficient. (Grinberg, R. 2012 p 160). Bitcoin is considered ethical because it is
unique to the characteristics of credit cards. Banks have attempted to remove the issue of fraud and
find mechanisms to stop hackers and phishers from obtaining personal data. This is because traditional
transactions require the transmission confidential data, making data vulnerable to interception by
hackers (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 402). In regards to bitcoin, only a bundle of characters

Disadvantages Of Policy Debate
Policy Debate was the first debate established in the National Verbalization and Debate Sodality. In
Policy Debate there are two teams in a room: The Affirmative Team and the Negative Team. This
commenced the base affirmative versus negative in Lincoln Douglas. Two people are on each team
just as most debates are. Three variants of verbalizations (Constructives, Cross Examinations and
Rebuttals) take place. Each debater gives all three verbalizations. The Constructives, which is eight
minutes, start with the first Affirmative Constructive, withal kenned as the 1AC, which is the base
case made afore every other verbalization that commences and has the substructure of what both side
will be arguing. This is followed by the Cross Examination, which is three Minutes, of the 1AC,
which is when the negative side questions the affirmative side and the affirmative must answer every
question and is unable to ask any questions back. Then, the first Negative Constructive, withal kenned
as the 1NC, is presented (this is identically tantamount thing as the affirmative constructive except
conspicuously for the negative side), and the 1NC is Cross Examined (this is when the negative side is
asked and must answer and may not ask questions back). After all four verbalizers conclude their
Constructive Verbalizations and are Cross Examined, then the Rebuttals, which is five Minutes,

North Dakota Climate Analysis
The climate characteristics of North Dakota vary significantly throughout the state. The state is
divided amid four central physiographic regions: the Great Plains, the Missouri Coteau, the Glaciated
Plains, and the Red River Valley. The average temperature is different throughout the state, ranging
from 37 degrees in in the northeast to 44 degrees along the southern boarder. Though, annual averages
are deceptive because they conceal the substantial seasonal temperature disparities shared all through
the state (North Dakota State University).
A few major rivers are: Missouri, Red River of the North, Sheyenne, and the Mouse River. Major

What Is Station Eleven Symbolism In The Novel
Station Eleven is Emily St. John Mandel s fourth novel which is audacious and dark glittering as it is
set in the eerie days of the collapse of civilization. The story begins with the death of a famous actor,
Arthur Leander after a fatal heart attack onstage while performing the role of King Lear. One actor
Jeevan tries to pump the 51 year old Arthur s chest, but he is dead. Before the people can absorb this
shock tragedy strikes in vast scale as flu infects the world s population killing most of the people
within weeks. Jeevan is walking home during the night when the flu begins to spread, and he and his
brother barricade themselves inside an apartment as they watch cars clogging on the highways, life
disintegrating round themselves and gunshots ringing out. The novel tells a story of a Hollywood star
who would be the savior. A roving cluster of actors roams in the great lakes region, and they risk their
lives and everything else to save humanity and for the art.
The novel maintains a firm unyielding allegiance to the methods of highbrow literary fiction and is
loaded with sci fi elements. The novel is character driven, and it never relies on the jargons and
gimmicks and from the plot the novel is filled with futuristic fiction. Extravagant circumstances in the
Station Eleven novels lead to emotional righteousness making them feel plausible. This is achieved

Due to the lack of data collected in the past, action/participatory research will work the best for this
needs assessment. I will have more luck collecting data by participation and interviews. Observation,
surveys, and interviews will be the best way to collect information and determined the needs and
wants of the target audience.
C. Gathering Data
h. Data from scientific literature Depending on the population and behaviors being studied, it is
possible to identify some of the health priorities of a population by reviewing literature. Although
there may not be published data on your specific population, studies completed within similar settings
may provide useful information. Identify five published studies that may be of use in your needs
assessment. 5. Machen, R., Cuddihy, T., Reaburn, P., amp; Higgins, H. (2010).

The vent allows ventilation and sunlight through the deep roof. You can certainly add lighting to
structure, but you don t want to run lighting into the gazebo and turn it on during the day. With the
skylight, you won t have to do that. It ll give you light without giving you harsh sun rays.
Spacious Square Footage
The interior of the gazebo is 120 square feet. It s 10 feet by 12 feet with a height of 10 feet. The 10
feet of clearance means that you can hang lights or a fan in your gazebo without anyone hitting their
head on the additions. There s a center hook for installing your favorite light or chandelier, too.
All of that square footage will give you extra living space in your home. You can use it for
entertaining, or just lounging outdoors with the kids. Instead of everyone in the house, this will get the
kids out of the house into a space that gives you peace and quiet.
Sturdy Frame
The frame is made of steel, too. There are decorative elements to each leg that actually make them
even sturdier than simple gazebo legs. There are 6 pieces of steel on each side of the double legs.
There s absolutely no way that you ll end up with a bent or warped leg on your gazebo. Even if a
blizzard or a hurricane came through, your outdoor gazebo will stay solid and

Dreaming In Cuban Character Analysis
3Cristina Gracia book Dreaming in Cuban focus on many women and their families. In the book, there
are three women I will be focusing on called Pilar, Celia and Lourdes. The character Pilar, when
compared to her mother Lourdes, shows why she is a good character with a likable personality for a
younger audience.
Pilar through the book shows she is uncommitted to her family, and it can be assumed that she doesn t
like her mother Lourdes and tolerates her father. Pilar even tries to leave her town in Brooklyn, New
York I m going back to Cuba. I m fed up with everything around here. (25) says Pilar. You learn that
Pilar is against working in her mother s bakery, that she s Slaving away (25) in there. Pilar can be seen
as relatable with not wanting to work under her mother s job but rather learn to paint and do
something more inspiring to herself.
Pilar paints and she is encouraged to paint while listening to music, however, her mother doesn t
support it. You learn this when she says My paintings have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Pilar says she feels like Everyday Cuba fades a little more inside me. My grandmother fades a little
more inside me. (138) Pilar is going through an identity crisis and for her mother to not even talk
about her own grandmother in Cuba doesn t help. To keep something like a grudge shouldn t be seen
as uncommon. I feel like its likable and relatable for someone to not change so quickly on one s inner
true feeling and thoughts. The feeling of losing your identity and your family can be felt relatable to a
younger audience suffering close, to any family problems. Pilar is a teenager going through self wants
and trying to find herself in her time of life and a younger audience can see themselves in this. To
come late in a big family and live so far from them, her situation is one of many stories

Summary Of The Film American Ultra
American Ultra is the story about a CIA sleeper secretive operative, Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg)
living in a small town with his girlfriend. When the regime at headquarters shifts to new power, Mike
Howell is put on a termination list.
This is a film by Nima Mourizadeh staring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, and Connie Britton.
This is one of the most entertaining films I ve seen in a while, even though the story was not too
originial A sleeper in a small town gets woken up and has to defend his life, think Bourne Identity, The
Manchurian Candidate, and slew of other secret agent films, like The Kingsman, James Bound,
Mission Impossible, and the list goes on and on. How many times can you do the same story over?
This film takes an incredible angle, think Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Nima turns this piece into a
combination of graphic art, comic book storytelling, action and comedy. I was visually entertained
with art and action the fight scenes were amazing and flawlessly choreographed. And to think, this is
only Nima s second film. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His style is unique and extremely creative. The angles, camera movement, and choice of lenses,
helped get the story across, especially when Nima was developing the characters in the first 30 minute
of the film. I enjoyed getting to know Mike and his girlfriend, Phoebe Larson (Kristen Stewart).
The start of this film is amazing and completely grabs me by the ears. I was sucked into this story in
the first 3 seconds of the film, with Jesse s opening sequence, the choice of angles, the sound

Setting in John SteinbeckÂŽs East of Eden
John Steinbeck s, East of Eden, is set in the Salinas Valley, a secluded area of Northern California. The
Salinas River runs through this beautiful, yet unforgiving land and provides fertility to the dry land.
While the valley has a rich geographical history spanning from sea, to forest, and then to the present
day valley, it is a difficult destination to find prosperity. Two dramatic mountain ranges form the
landscape of the valley that the author uses to exemplify the idea of good and evil. This theme is
further outlined by the strong personalities of characters Cathy, Aron, and Cal. Cathy and Aron have
opposing dispositions, similarly to Steinbeck s descriptions of the Santa Lucias and the Gabilan
mountains. In between the two peaks is the valley, where both good and evil preside. Cal s personality
mirrors this setting as he struggles internally between being good and evil for most of his life.
Steinbeck s emphasis on dramatic setting correlates directly to the personalities of the main characters
in order to outline the theme of conflict between good and evil in East of Eden. Evilness and its
conflict with goodness in East of Eden is emphasized in setting by the Santa Lucia Mountains and in
character by Cathy Ames. The mountains provoke a sense of fright and terror in Steinbeck as he
remarks, The Santa Lucias stood up against the sky to the west and kept the valley from the open sea,
and they were dark and brooding unfriendly and dangerous... I always found myself a

Cirque Du Soleil Thesis Statement
INQUIRY QUESTION:
How has Cirque du Soleil developed from a Canadian street group to a billion dollar industry that
changed Circus forever?
OBJECTIVE
I chose this topic because I think Cirque du Soleil is an inspiring and intriguing business that not many
people realize has Canadian roots. Also, this topic is interesting to me so I thought I would enjoy the
research process. I plan to elaborate on how the business started as two street performers, who formed
a billion dollar company that now tours the world. Not only has it progressed, Cirque du Soleil has
reinvented the circus. Its shows feature multi talented performers, fantastic costumes and live music. It
has changed the world s perspective of the circus and has captivated the ... Show more content on

In one of its most recent shows, four time Olympic skating champion Kurt Browning was one of the
main choreographers! Not to mention, all of these athletes are from all over the world. In the whole
company, Cirque du Soleil has about 5030 employees
6. Colourful Costumes
In the area of costume design, Cirque du Soleil has really raised the bar.
The traditional circus had costumes for each performer, but costumes and makeup were typically very
basic. On the other hand, Cirque du Soleil custom costumes are designed to contribute to the overall
theme of each individual show. Cirque du Soleil s costumes have fancy details, colorful decorations,
and even lights! For example, in the show Amaluna, 130 costumes were worn, made of 800 different
materials. And if that s not enough, in the show Varekai, 130 costumes were made over the course of
33,000 hours, and a team of 6 works 250 hours weekly to maintain those costumes.
In addition, Cirque du Soleil has very dramatic makeup for each performer and each segment of the
show. From my interview with a former Cirque du Soleil performer, Marin Debruyn, I learned that
Cirque du Soleil also makes molds of performer s faces to create 3D printed masks.

Insect Sting Allergies
Tips For Dealing With Insect Sting Allergies
Being allergic to a stinging insect like a wasp or fire ant can be challenging. The insects are
everywhere outdoors and can get inside your car or house, making it difficult to avoid contact with
them. However, there are a few things you can do to minimize your risk of being stung. Even more
importantly, you ll want to know what steps to take to deal with an allergic reaction if it happens. Here
are some tips that may help.
Protect Yourself Outdoors
If you ve had an allergic reaction to a sting in the past, you should consider having allergy testing to
determine which insects you need to avoid. That s because the bugs have different nesting places. If
you re allergic to fire ants, you ll definitely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your reaction can happen quickly, so you ll need immediate treatment as soon as it happens. For that
reason, your allergist may give you a prescription for epinephrine that comes in an injectable pen. You
should keep it near you at all times, so if you re stung by a bee or bitten by a fire ant, you can inject
the medication right away. Using one of these pens could save your life and buy you time while you
wait for help to arrive. You should still call for an ambulance or get to an emergency room as soon as
you can for further treatment.
In addition, if you ve had a bad allergic reaction to a sting in the past, you should consider wearing a
medical alert tag that lets first responders know about your condition. You may want to use the buddy
system when you go outdoors, especially if you go on a picnic or hike in the woods, so there will
always be someone to call for help if you get stung. And finally, never let your guard down. There
could be a hornet on your soda can or a line of fire ants marching up your picnic table. Always
remember to check your surroundings wherever you go since insects are everywhere and they are
attracted to human

Pros And Cons Of Co-Sleeping Or Crib-Sleeprs
Co sleeping or crib sleepers that is the question for new parents. There are people that feel that co
sleeping is irresponsible and that parents who share a family bed are putting their baby s life at risk.
(Onderko, 2016) The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended against bed sharing in
2005 stating that it is linked to the increase in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
There are not a one size fits all approach to where the baby should sleep, and how long they child
should sleep there. It really depends on the comfort of the child and the parent. Some babies can sleep
more peacefully in their cribs where they are alone and are able to move about. While other babies

Why I Burned Asap List
The wrong person For legal reasons I cannot mention their real names so we will refer to them as jesse
and jess. I am really good at my job unfortunately some days are worse than others, this hot August
6th was one of those days. On this particular day I happened to get what we call a burn list, or a needs
to be fired ASAP list. The list is normally ten names long, but this list happened to be seventeen names
and they all needed to be fired that day. I had fired people before so i had no issue doing it. I had never
messed up so badly until this unfortunate day.
As they day when by I had to call the people into my office one at a time, and then payout their last
check. To get through twelve in a six hour period I considered an achievement. I found myself trying
to speed things up and I got down to jesse s name, so I sent her an email asking her to come to my
office unknowingly sending it to jess and not jesse.
She came to my office a few moments after I sent the email. As she entered my office she asked in a
very happy voice, whats up? You needed me? , I had to respond with, Please take a seat. that was
when her bright smile turned down with a very confused look on her face. I had told her we had to let
her go and that she needed to pack her stuff and make her way ... Show more content on

The Word Voodoo Means Spirit Of The West African
The word voodoo means spirit in the West African. It is a religion practiced by much Haitian living in
Haiti as well as the Diaspora. For the majority of Haitians, it is a symbol of solidarity of how they
stood up and fought for their rights and freedom. For others, it is a painful source of reminder of how
their ancestors were cruelly and unjustly treated by the Europeans.Even though the slaves were forced
to convert to the Roman Catholic Christianity by missionaries, they continue to practice their faith. As
a result, the voodoo is born out of the intermingling of beliefs and practices of African culture and the
Catholicism. Nowadays the voodoo plays important role in different integrals politically and
socially. In 1676, when the French colonized this Island, they possessed vast land, fields, pastures and
garden. They needed cheap labor for the grueling work, especially in those sugars plantations. The
slave system has already existed in the 16th century.
Upon their arrival, the owners stripped them of their fundamental human rights. They exploited their
skills and forbade practicing their traditional beliefs. The Europeans look down on African beliefs as
primitive and savage. They did not accept those beliefs as a genuine religion. As a result, they baptized
those poor souls as real Christians. Those slaves continued to practice their faith at their peril. If they
get caught, they were punished by lashing, imprisonments, and sometimes death. Each tribal has its

The Effects Of Alcohol And Drug Abuse On Criminal Activities
Discussion: Whilst many theorists have differing views on whether or not alcohol and drug abuse is
related to criminal activities, there are however a variety of preventative and intervention methods
known commonly as harm reduction . This theory aims to assist in society s responses in how we
intervene when it comes to drug abusers as well as how the use of drug taking harms society itself.
Such designed strategies aim to reduce and eventually stop substance abuse. Harm reduction methods
can come in the form of intervention programmes (such as rehabilitation programmes), or access to
health clinics and support groups that include needle exchange services for drug injectors and these
aim to lessen the after effects that are linked with substance abuse and criminal activities. According
to Newcombe, R. (1992), Harm Reduction can be defined as a term that defines policies, programmes,
services and actions that work to reduce the health, social and economic harm , as well as to reduce
the harms to individuals, communities and society . Many local and international organisations can
attest to and be evidence of the usefulness of the harm reduction theories (each having their own or
similar approaches). Some of these organisations include Drugscope a popular UK charity, NTA
National Treatment Agency (for Substance Misuse), and also CCSA The Canadian Centre on
Substance Abuse. The CCSA has a 4 step approach in how to deal with reducing harm for drug
misusers and society.

Vaccination Process
(1) I would not take steps in reducing the flows of people, but I would take steps to reduce the flows
of food and manufactured goods. Reducing the flows of people would lead to racism and prejudice
towards someone s country of origin. Racists are looking for any excuse to demean a race or a country
different than theirs, so the results would be catastrophic. Instead of banning the flow of people, I
would rather take steps in recommending everyone to (mayoclinic, 2015): 1. Wash their hands every
chance you get. If there isn t water or soap to wash your hands, use a hand sanitizer. 2. Get vaccinated.
Before traveling internationally, getting vaccinated will highly increase your immunization and reduce
your chances of getting a disease. 3. Prepare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both sides to the argument have very compelling arguments in their favor. It was a toss up for me, but
after doing much research, I feel that I agree with GMOs. GMOs help the middle class and the poor,
more than it hurts them. I feel that that the benefits of GMOs outweigh the costs of producing food in
this manner. For example, I remember when I was in Publix shopping for food, and I couldn t believe
the prices of food labeled as Organic . A bottle of ketchup was $3.49, but organic ketchup was $5.49.
A gallon of milk was $3.29 and a gallon of organic milk was $6.99, more than double the price of a
normal gallon of milk. The actress Gwyneth Paltrow took the food stamp challenge and tried to live
on food stamps for about one week. People on food stamps, get about $29 a week for food. With $29
she was able to buy, A dozen eggs, a head of lettuce, dry black beans, frozen green peas, brown rice,
corn tortillas, an ear of corn, some kale, a tomato, garlic, seven (seven!) limes, lots of cilantro, green
onions, a hot pepper, a yellow onion, a sweet potato and an avocado (Phillip, 2015). This is clearly not
enough food for an entire week, and this is with drinks not included. Gwyneth Paltrow is a health
junkie, so you can see she bought very healthy organic foods. By the way, she totally failed the
challenge. If you re poor, GMOs are worth it, because if you buy organic food, you ll eat for three
days, but starve the next four

Summary Of Why Max Was Right By Karl Marx
Karl Marx is considered a very controversial figure. On the one hand, he was a figurehead for the
common worker worldwide. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of
capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In
David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David
shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global
scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism
and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource
providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw
material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by
placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral
development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the
United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based
on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and
documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from
developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in
their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the
article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone,
in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference
between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom
99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist
exploitation actually turns out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the
fact that the 1,426 richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more
than the combined gross domestic product

Stereotypes In The Sapphires
The Sapphires is a film that highlights and portrays a celebration of the Aboriginal culture in Australia.
The film is set in Cummeragunja Australia in 1968, when racism was paramount. However, Wayne
Blair the director of the film entertains the audience by the amusement in the film, whilst also
connecting with the audience through emotion. The Sapphires positions the viewer to see Aboriginals
point of view, of how they are perceived by others whilst celebrating the Aboriginal culture. The
narrative code of The Sapphires positions the viewer to recognise what it was like for a Aboriginal
attempt to succeed in what they enjoy, in this case a singing career. The audience views the struggles
of race and prejudice towards Aborigines in the

  • 2. Essay On Employee Assistance Programs Working with Employee Assistance Programs I was glad to read about the different settings available for the clinical mental health counselor to work within. It is always good to know several options exists, and if you do not like where you currently are working, you could always switch settings. Before reading the text, I was thinking of working in private practice, but I am now unsure if I would be willing to take risks associated with the private practice area. The responsibility of being solely liable for all financial matters, accounting, administrative work, and inconsistent revenue streams is quite scary (Gladding Newsome, 2018, p. 385). Currently, the setting that is most appealing for me to work in is the employee assistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the world where managed care organizations are pushing for counseling sessions to be short, employee assistance programs seem like the right fit for short term services, with three to eight sessions being the norm. As an EAP counselor, it is essential for me to be assured of my ability to protect my clients confidentiality. I am aware of lines being blurred when counseling, for instance, a boss and his/her employee. I should be able to assure both parties that the information shared during our sessions will be held to the privacy standards required of counselor and client relationships. Committing to professional behaviors such as maintaining a strictly professional relationship, being an attentive listener, respecting cultural differences, and advocating for my clients. I would also be trained in working with adults, as well as children and couples since EAP services sometimes include the family members. An asset I would like to have is some wellness and prevention training because a focus in EAP counseling is geared towards wellness. To become an EAP counselor, I would need to participate in continuing education training, including substance abuse and addictions counseling; knowledge about the business world is also a necessary asset. The Employee Assistance Program Association (EAPA) offers training classes through its local chapters (Gladding Newsome, 2018). Clinical mental health counselors are just one ... • 5. Characteristics Of The Carolingian Empire In the eyes of Pepin III the Short, his reasoning behind him usurping the Merovingian throne was simple: power in all ways except symbolically was in his hands. Backed by the pope, military success and ambition, he overthrew Childeric III to claim his singular rule over the Franks, marking the end of the Merovingian empire and the birth of Carolingian rule. With this history, the Carolingian mindset was set: if you were superior to that of who was in power, you deserved to be the singular ruler. In a sense, the Carolingians took this mindset into all reaches of life, including the development of a style of writing that would reign supreme and exert its influence into the modern era. This style of writing, later named Carolingian minuscule, would not only dominate over other styles of writing, but would give a greater incentive to protect truth and beauty, all while combining culture and language within a script. Prior to the rise of Carolingian minuscule, the empire and those surrounding it each had a unique style of writing, with scribes taking their own liberty in how to write within those styles, creating an insurmountable amount of variations. Within the Carolingian empire, Latin had a very strong influence on classic works, especially those from Rome and Greece, so typically, the Latin that was idolized was distorted by a plethora of writing styles, many of which were confusing (Aherne 159). In the land that the Carolingians initially ruled over, the script of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Nosocomial Infection Introduction Of significant concern is the prevalence of nosocomial infection in acutely and critically ill patients. The mouth usually provides entry for life prolonging interventions, such as endotracheal intubation for ventilation and orogastric tubes for enteral nutrition in the ICU. These interventions unfortunately require the patient to maintain an open mouth and impair the natural airway defenses. This vulnerable position, in combination with other treatments, can contribute to a fast deteriorating oral condition and a dependence on nursing to alleviate tube related discomfort, thirst, oral lesions and the accumulation of saliva, sputum and oral bacteria. Colonization of the oropharynx is a critical factor in the development of nosocomial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elderly institutionalized, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and ICU patients are at higher risk of periodontal colonization by nosocomial pathogens because of difficulties in oral hygiene, changes in salivary properties, and reduction of anaerobic flora.7, 8, 9 In ICU patients Oropharyngeal colonization by aerobic pathogens occurs very rapidly because of incumbent changes in antibacterial resistance, i.e., decreased immunoglobin (Ig) A salivary content, reduced salivary secretion, mechanical injury induced by nasogastric and endotracheal tubes and mucosal desiccation. This in turn facilitates the mucosal adhesion of aerobic bacilli and allows bacterial multiplication and speedy growth on pharyngeal mucosa.10, 11 Oral Plaque harbors microorganisms in the sequence of initial colonization and represents an additional source of nosocomial colonization and infections in ICU patients. Plaque inside oral cavity is a dynamic and conglomerate system that associates microbes ingrained in an extracellular pattern. • 8. Memory Patterns In The Hunger Games Understanding how memory, patterns, and symbols all work together in literary works will help you to better appreciate what you are reading. Memory helps us to link one story to another, letting us have a better connection to characters and events, since we ve already seen characters and events that are, in some aspects, similar. Symbols let us better understand what the real theme is; is The Lord of the Flies really only about a bunch of stranded boys who starts to killing each other, while a pig s head watches? No, understanding that each of the boys(and the pig s head) represent a symbol helps you get to the message the author is trying to tell you. Patterns helps us figure out which details are important and which are not so much important, so we re not as bogged down with every detail of a story instead of the story itself ... • 9. Essay On Legalizing Medical Marijuana Legalization of Medical Marijuana The controversy on the topic is that Americans link marijuana to uneducated, unemployed, and lazy individuals who deal with addiction. Though there are valid points for the legalization of the drug, there is a worry about how the drug will affect the users. Although opponents say that legalizing medical marijuana is a back door method of legalizing the drug for recreational use, the U.S. should legalize medical marijuana because it will reduce crime, increase revenue, provide more research, and will help treat numerous medical conditions. Many people think that if marijuana is legalized, there will be an onslaught of crime. (Delmore) Studies have shown that the legalization of marijuana has truly reduced the crime rate. Robert Morris, an associate professor of criminology at UT Dallas, said, After controlling for a host of known factors related to changes in crime rates we accounted for factors such as poverty, employment, education, even per capita beer sales, among other things we found no evidence of increases in any of these crimes for states after legalizing marijuana for medical use (Ferner). Summary Of Cinematic Language In A Bronx Tale In the film, A Bronx Tale (1993) directed by Robert De Niro, the character Calogero Anello played by Lilo Brancato, demonstrates cinematic language. The cinematic language uses various visual codes in cinematic storytelling to convey the meaning of a film. The components of cinematic storytelling are portrayed through various techniques such as, camera movement, mise en scene, cinematography, sound, editing, and etc. within a film s frame to help tell the story. The main character Calogero faces many obstacles throughout the film, but they mostly result in a battle of trying to receive acceptance from his father, Lorenzo Anello played by Robert De Niro. A major cinematic component that is noticed throughout the film is mise en scene. The use of mise en scene of the film influences the viewer s mood and perception of what is happening. The main mise en scene elements used in A Bronx Tale is lighting, setting, and costume design. The film uses lots of low key lighting from beginning to end to create a depressed feeling that creates conflict and confusion. The shadow effects also create drama and show the dark side of the characters. For example, a scene from the beginning of the film uses lighting to highlight the good and bad characters. Calogero, through the entire scene, is lit up with high key lighting, while Sonny the antagonist is shown in a low key lighting. As the film moves along and follows Calogero s life, the constant use of low key lighting helps the viewer understand the disparity that he is going through while deciding which lifestyle he wants to be a part of. The setting is important during the course of the film, because it gives a vivid representation of the lifestyle. The setting of the film is in Belmont, an Italian American neighborhood in the Bronx. Another important setting of the film is the neighborhood bar, Chez Bippy. The bar is an important attribute to the film because most of the film is filmed at the bar and most of the characters are introduced there. Costume design plays a major role as well because it gives a representation of the mobster lifestyle. The tall hats, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(National Geographic) Over the short term, some cases of Ebola in the united states could be prevented, CNN states, but for the long term, it could back fire if highly trained personnel have more incentive not to go to west Africa to help with the disease. Dr. John Carlson spent four weeks working with Ebola patients and says that, healthcare workers already sacrifice their time to those who need it, and that quarantining them might seem like a punishment, discouraging people like him to do it again. (CNN) Some individuals also claim that Ebola is no worse than other illnesses, such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV, or bacterial infections. They claim that at one point in time these illnesses had once sparked a fire of fear in hearts of people around the world and that today are looked at as not as serious when people are still also affected by these diseases daily and also die from them daily. Numerous incidents occur in our lives where we are motivated and numerous incidents occur where we lack any motivation. As I am a full time student and not currently working, I chose to write this paper on my motivation to finish my education and attain a higher level degree in health care. According to Abraham H. Maslow s Theory, there are five levels of hierarchy of needs. During the first level, we are dealing with our physiological needs which are the basic needs of survival. I was born to a mother and a father who were both born into the upper levels of the caste system. This means that my parents enjoyed a life of high materialistic value. Those in the upper class also valued the importance of education because those who had prestigious college degrees were the ones who were highly respected. Taking a Look at Virtual Currencies Virtual currencies such as bitcoin are portrayed as an innovative design in the distribution of money throughout the world through the use of peer to peer transactions due to it being fraudulent and impossible to counterfeit. However, bitcoin holders are anonymous and could act in a similar way to black markets, their bitwallet is unregulated and untaxed. Using bitcoin as a currency also delves into the problem where users purchase illegal objects and substances anonymously. Bitcoin is essentially an electronic cash currency and is perceived as a great success since its launch in 2009. Most e cash schemes require a centralized bank, which acts as a safeguard for potential scams or for double spending detection. (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 401), In contrast, the bitcoin protocol allows individuals to freely send bitcoins without any third party interference. The fee for sending bitcoins is very little in comparison to other online payment methods such as PayPal thus bitcoin is considered to be cost efficient. (Grinberg, R. 2012 p 160). Bitcoin is considered ethical because it is unique to the characteristics of credit cards. Banks have attempted to remove the issue of fraud and find mechanisms to stop hackers and phishers from obtaining personal data. This is because traditional transactions require the transmission confidential data, making data vulnerable to interception by hackers (Simon Barber et al. 2012 p 402). • 26. Setting in John SteinbeckÂŽs East of Eden John Steinbeck s, East of Eden, is set in the Salinas Valley, a secluded area of Northern California. The Salinas River runs through this beautiful, yet unforgiving land and provides fertility to the dry land. While the valley has a rich geographical history spanning from sea, to forest, and then to the present day valley, it is a difficult destination to find prosperity. Two dramatic mountain ranges form the landscape of the valley that the author uses to exemplify the idea of good and evil. This theme is further outlined by the strong personalities of characters Cathy, Aron, and Cal. Cathy and Aron have opposing dispositions, similarly to Steinbeck s descriptions of the Santa Lucias and the Gabilan mountains. In between the two peaks is the valley, where both good and evil preside. Cal s personality mirrors this setting as he struggles internally between being good and evil for most of his life. Steinbeck s emphasis on dramatic setting correlates directly to the personalities of the main characters in order to outline the theme of conflict between good and evil in East of Eden. Evilness and its conflict with goodness in East of Eden is emphasized in setting by the Santa Lucia Mountains and in character by Cathy Ames. For the majority of Haitians, it is a symbol of solidarity of how they stood up and fought for their rights and freedom. For others, it is a painful source of reminder of how their ancestors were cruelly and unjustly treated by the Europeans.Even though the slaves were forced to convert to the Roman Catholic Christianity by missionaries, they continue to practice their faith. The Effects Of Alcohol And Drug Abuse On Criminal Activities Discussion: Whilst many theorists have differing views on whether or not alcohol and drug abuse is related to criminal activities, there are however a variety of preventative and intervention methods known commonly as harm reduction . This theory aims to assist in society s responses in how we intervene when it comes to drug abusers as well as how the use of drug taking harms society itself. Such designed strategies aim to reduce and eventually stop substance abuse. Harm reduction methods can come in the form of intervention programmes (such as rehabilitation programmes), or access to health clinics and support groups that include needle exchange services for drug injectors and these aim to lessen the after effects that are linked with substance abuse and criminal activities. According to Newcombe, R. (1992), Harm Reduction can be defined as a term that defines policies, programmes, services and actions that work to reduce the health, social and economic harm , as well as to reduce the harms to individuals, communities and society . Many local and international organisations can attest to and be evidence of the usefulness of the harm reduction theories (each having their own or similar approaches). On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone, in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom 99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist exploitation actually turns out to be accurate.
