LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

2. Who Is Cool Hand Luke As A Christ Figure
Luke as a Christ Figure In literature, it s not uncommon for authors to create a character who
parallels Christ himself. In Cool Hand Luke, directed by Stuart Rosenberg, starring Paul Newman,
George Kennedy, Strother Martin, and J.D. Cannon, the protagonist Luke is shown as a Christ
figure. The film begins with Luke being arrested on account of being intoxicated and vandalizing
parking meters. He s taken to a prison in the South where his non conformist ideals automatically
disagree with the strict rules and authority. While serving his two year sentence working in a chain
gang, Luke manages to gain the respect of the other prisoners. He s given the nickname Cool Hand
Lukeafter he wins a card game from convincing the men he has valuable cards, even though he
really has nothing. After the death of his mom, Luke goes against authority and makes his first
attempt at escaping. He s brought back, however, and shortly after the audience is able to see his
refusal to conform when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout Cool Hand Luke, Luke is shown to be a non conformist. When sent to prison, Luke
is placed in an isolated environment with strict rules, guards, and regimentation and his fiercely
individualistic spirit immediately clashes ( Cool Hand Luke (1967). ). Luke s non conformist
attitude is what drives him to escape so many times he s a rebel at heart, and refuses to adapt to
the prison environment. Luke not only rebels against big things such as prison authority, but
small, insignificant things as well. Even Luke s eating habits are distinctively non conformist he
takes a bite and leaves the spoon sticking out of his mouth ( Cool Hand Luke (1967). ). No matter
what he s doing, even if it s something as simple as eating, Luke finds a way to rebel against it.
This character trait of Luke s proves the Christ figure archetype because of his refusal to conform,
and his tendency to go against what he s supposed to be

Advantages of nuclear power;
Low costs. The initial construction costs of nuclear power plants are large. When the power
plants first have been built, we are left with the costs to enrich and process the nuclear fuel,
control and get rid of nuclear waste, as well as the maintenance of the plant. The reason this is
under advantages is that nuclear energy is cost competitive. Generating electricity in nuclear
reactors is cheaper than electricity generating from oil, gas and coal. Nuclear power plants
provide a stable base load of energy. This can work synergistic with renewable energy sources
such as wind and solar. The electricity production from the plants can be lowered when good wind
and solar resources are available and cranked up when the demand is high.
Low pollution. It is in most cases more beneficial, in terms of the climate crisis, to replace other
energy harnessing methods we use today with nuclear power. The environmental effects of nuclear
power are relatively light compared to those. However, nuclear waste is potential harmful for both
humans and the environment.

5. Analysis Of The Poem Peanut Butter Sandwich
Shel Silverstein s poem, Peanut Butter Sandwich, revolves around a king and his insatiatable
greed for a peanut butter sandwich. Slowly, the king succumbs to his favorite food and his jaws
become stuck from the thick peanut butter. The whole town is called and through many different
attempts, finally manages to pull the king s jaws apart. When initially searching for a poem to
imitate, I immediately looked to Silverstein. He is very famous and creates jovial poems which
easily bring smiles to readers everywhere. Silverstein s use of rhymes, tone, and organization all
lead to a poem that creates a sense of nostalgia in the reader, reminding them of happy thoughts of
childhood. I chose to imitate Peanut Butter Sandwich so I could reproduce those feelings in my
audience. In Peanut Butter Sandwich, Silverstein uses a specific rhyming structure to enhance the
poem. Throughout the poem, Silverstein rhymes the last words of each line with the final line to
offset the rhyming pattern. This rhyming structure drives the poem along at a very even pace. The
reader is very likely to read this poem at a consistent speed, with a slight pause before the offset
line. Silverstein s word choice also adds to the rhyming structure. Throughout the poem, Silverstein
uses very simple words that are both easy to rhymeand easy to say. The combination of simple
rhymes and the structure of the rhymes create a poem that bounces at an even pace. The words are
fun to say and rhyme, thus

6. The Core Values Of Hindu Religion
I was curious to know if the Hindu people, who have drastically different beliefs from one
another, are able to come together at a designated location and worship as one congregation. The
core values the Hindu people share allow practitioners of all varying beliefs to accept their religious
differences and come together as one congregation to worship. An example of this is illustrated
through the failures of the worship communities and the success of pluralism over time.
To begin, it s important to know that almost nothing is entirely agreed upon in within the Hindu
community ( Hinduism 1). The few things all Hindus can agree on are the defining factors of the
religion; meaning, if you don t subscribe to these beliefs, you don t technically identify as Hindu.
The principles all Hindus can agree upon are: the Vedas are a very important scripture, karma is
real, reincarnation is real, and all perspectives are welcome and ultimately better the religion
(Darity, Jr. 477; Hinduism 4). Of the few core values that all Hindus share, tolerance is among the
most important. You cannot discredit one s religious preference or beliefs and still be considered
Hindu. Almost every other principle and belief is ambiguous and not wholly agreed upon. This
means that even people with conflicting beliefs are accepted as Hindus as long as they believe in
karma, reincarnation and the Vedas, and their differences strengthen the religion.
Pluralism is a defining trademark of Hinduism. Pluralism

7. Toronto Gender Roles
At the University of Toronto, specific areas are regulated and represented using university safety
protocols. This paper will highlight the attempt of the university to classify those specific areas and
genders, including the connotations involved with the representations. A representation analysis of
certain areas being an inherent danger to students will be presented with its implications. After, the
gender binary will be analyzed through the safety protocol applying to students and how the rules

The tips act as a policy that recognize ongoing suspicious occurrences and advises students to
always stay vigilant of their surroundings. The policy designates duty for the student to report
suspicious behaviour, such as unauthorized personnel in unauthorized areas and abandoned parcels
in unusual locations. The University of Toronto campus is a high traffic area and any provided
information can be helpful is preventing danger. Thus, the designation for students to report
suspicious behaviour is reasonable. The policy prompts the concern of unknown people and objects
through its representation of danger. On the contrary, students do not know every individual on the
campus and it is unjustified to have a policy implying that every unknown person can act
suspiciously. The policy suggests students should stray from their daily routine when they feel as if
they are in danger. Students are encouraged to travel in groups as being alone increases
vulnerability. Through representation, the university does not protect a vulnerable student. The
university merely provides policies and tips for the vulnerable student and the onus is on the
student to be educated with those policies. The policies exist for the students to use techniques to
protect themselves against harm. It is the knowledge, knowing what action to take, which is their

8. Pulse Ox Test
Did you know that heart abnormalities are the most common birth defect? I didn t, until a few
weeks ago. A Facebook friend posted a link to the Cora s Story blog and I casually clicked over
to see what it was about. Cora died suddenly in her mama s arms at just 5 days old from an
undetected congenital heart defect (CHD). I can t imagine suffering such a devastating loss, and I
thank my lucky stars for my kids healthy hearts. But Cora s motherKristine has turned her pain
into a wonderful mission in her daughter s name: to raise awareness about CHD and how easily
it can be detected. With Kristine and Cora s help, hopefully more CHDs will be caught and treated
early, saving babies and children s lives.
Another fact I learned from Cora is how easily many CHDs can be detected. A simple pulse
oximetry test (aka pulse ox ) done 24 48 hours after birth in conjunction with a newborn exam can
detect a large proportion of CHDs, with a low false positive rate. A pulse ox test is noninvasive
and very simple: the reader is typically attached to the baby s toe and determines the oxygen
saturation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I mentioned, the test is completely non invasive and hospitals already have the equipment.
Portable pulse ox readers are also available, which means both birth center and homebirth
midwives could also easily carry them. Kristine is working on Cora s behalf to get laws passed
nationwide mandating a pulse ox to be done on every newborn. I applaud her efforts and admire
her strength at turning her pain into an effort to save lives.
What can YOU do? Request this test for your own babies and tell the pregnant moms in your life
to request it when their babies are born. Pass this information on, and tell others to pass it on too.
Write your Congressman and your state representatives and tell them you want pulse ox testing to
be mandatory for all newborns. You might just save a baby s life.

9. Memory Pattern Essay
Memory, symbol, and pattern affect the reading of literature by enhancing, foreshadowing, and
helping readers look more in the depth of literature. Memory allows readers to compare texts and
connect more to literature. Symbols can analyze a deeper meaning to something. While a pattern
can foreshadow the main event that can occur later on. The recognition of patterns makes it
easier to read complicated literature because it can help readers analyze and understand conflicts
and plots well since they have already seen the pattern. Memories of certain events can lead to a
deeper understanding of literature. As you read all types of unalike literature you will start to see
recurrences of what you have read already in the past. When readers... Show more content on

Symbols are not only objects and images, they can also be events and action. They help readers
create and picture scenes in their minds. In some works of literature an example of symbol
would be water which can symbolize many things such as purity, fertility or death. In this case,
it symbolizes rebirth. A text from How To Read Literature Like A Professor on page 163 reads,
See this in symbolic terms. A young man sails away from his known world, dies out of one
existence, and comes back a new person, hence is reborn. Symbolically, that s the same pattern we
see in baptism: death and rebirth through the medium of water, where his old identity dies with his
older brother . A symbol s meaning can go through a further range of more meanings than just one.
Just like patterns, some symbols can interlock with each other and create a bigger picture. To begin
with, patterns are similar to symbols, they occur to reveal the bigger picture. Seeing patterns in a
work of literature can help readers understand the relationships between characters, actions, and
ideas. Patterns are a big hint to an upcoming event or a foreshadow to the main plot. Reading
literature with numerous patterns could lead the reader to the more important and good stuff such
as the theme or the plot of the text. Therefore patterns, just as a memory, and symbols are the key to
understanding

10. What Is The Tone Of Oranges By Gary Soto
In the poem Oranges by Gary soto, it follows the sacrifices that a young boy makes to ensure that
his lover is happy. Gary soto uses a nostalgic tone to emphasize that sacrifice is necessary in love.
The larger issues throughout this whole poem is that gratitude from strangers can make
someone else s day amazing. Additionally, this is the speaker s first date ever in his life, so he is
extremely nervous and wants everything to go fine. The poem is a free verse with no firm beat
following the lines of the poem. The lines are mostly comprised of enjambment lines, so there is
no real end to them. The speaker starts his reflection off with 2 examples of alliteration. The
speaker is remembering his first time [he] walked / With a girl, [he]... Show more content on

The author is including this to contrast with the cold and dark setting of the poem. The girl is
the light to the boy and she can guide him through this frost. The speaker also mentions about
him hearing the Frost cracking / Beneath [his] steps, [his] breath / Before [him], then gone (5
7). The author includes this section, so that the reader will have an exact feeling on how the
setting is for the speaker. In the light of the author adding in an onomatopoeia to the poem, Soto
describes the class difference between the speaker and his date. The reader can interpret that the
girl comes from a wealthy family, since she can keep on her porch light all the time. And that
she can take care of herself and a pet. The reader learns about the pet when he walked toward
/ Her house, the one whose / Porch light burned yellow / Night and day, in any weather. / A dog
barked at me (8 12). This just continues to emphasize that the speaker wants his date to go without
any troubles, so that they can live as a happy couple. The couple meet up together, the couple go to
a drugstore, and the couple eat their snack together (Anaphora). As a matter of fact, the speaker
goes on how he and his date went to a drugstore and how they went ahead and purchased

11. Disadvantages Of Narcissism
As they were in middle class, which was higher class than what my siblings and I were at, I
wondered if this would apply to them. With my experience, I believe it would since they were of
higher class than us and those narcissists would be boastful about accomplishments and
possessions. Here, some readers may be saying that social class does not necessarily cause one
to be narcissistic. I am not saying that not all those of higher class are narcissists, but rather that
it can put them for a higher risk of becoming narcissistic. Other factors, such as social media and
parenting, could also contribute to one becoming narcissistic. Going along with the factor of
parenting, the question of how that family would behave with each other had come up. I have
already seen how they could treat others outside of their family, whether it be to put on a
different face before their true colors leek out after getting to know them. From what I have
seen and heard, they tend to have a golden child and a sort of scapegoat. In the article, The
Strength of the Scapegoat in the Narcissist Family, Julie Hall, a contributing writer for the
Huffington Post, describes a scapegoat as ...the narcissist s go to projection screen for his
abusive behavior and his trash receptacle for blame and rage (2017, para. 3). The context being

playwrights. Since the original performance of Hamlet, there have been many movie adaptations.
Some of the many well known film directors for these movies are Kenneth Branagh, Franco
Zeffirelli and Sir Laurence Olivier. From the above film directors, I will compare and contrast
Zeffirelli s production of Hamletto the original Shakespeare s play Hamlet.
Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet is one of the sound versions of Hamlet. It was produced and starred
Mel Gibson in the late 1900s. Comparing the film version of Hamlet to the play, Zeffirelli has
made noticeable changes in the movie including some clothing choices and characters reactions. He
also altered and cut lines from the original Shakespeare play.
Shakespeare centralized the theme of revenge in the ghost scene in Act 1 Scene 5 with the use of
literary devices. In the movie adaptation, Zeffirelli used a different approach to portray the theme,
without the use of any literary devices. He instead used costume choices, characters reactions and
different word choices.
Zeffirelli used a creative way to portray Hamlet s father wearing a white shirt with black pants
instead of Shakespeare s choice of armour. He used this to show how Hamlet s father would look
in 90 s society. He made Hamlet wear black clothing throughout the movie to show that Hamlet was
the only one who cared and grieved throughout his mother s marriage and until his own death.
Zeffirelli changed the characters reactions throughout the scenes. One of the character changes is
during Hamlet s father s ghost soliloquy. Instead of his father being projected as angry towards
his wife and his brother in the movie, he uses a calm tone. In the movie while Hamlet was
listening to his father, he should have looked angry and upset. Instead he had no emotions while
listening to his father. In the movie, he should have an angry tone and should be eager to plot
revenge on who killed his father, instead he did not talk throughout his father s death story.
Zeffirelli chose this so that the audience will wait and anticipate when Hamlet s anger will grow
and his reaction during the scene.

Painted in 1865 Manets s Olympia was one of the most controversial paintings at the time. The
painting portrays a reclining nude figure with a black bootlace bow on her neck suggesting she
is a low paid prostitute. In the background the black servant offering a bouquet of flowers to the
courtesan probably as a gift from one of her clients. Manet also have painted a black cat at the
bottom of Olympia s feet, which as well as the maid disappears into the dark, pushed back

16. Social And Social Class In Charles DickensGreat Expectations
In the novel Great Expectations, author and social reformer, Charles Dickens presents an
appropriate example of hope in class mobility. Social and financial status performs a real role in
our society, even today. Similar to Dickens time, the well off tend to get more acknowledgment
and the lower class tends to get a bad reputation for being uneducated citizens. He hoped to rectify
to improve society. The primary theme is social class has no connection to moral merit.
The novel is narrated from the point of view of the main character, Pip. He narrates to the
audience throughout his life, illustrating the contrasting stages from childhood to gentleman. In
Pips belief, becoming a gentleman will automatically construct happiness in himself. Pip was a
child whose parents died when he was very young. He tells the story of being raised by his sister,
Mrs. Joe and her husband, Joe Gargery, whom Pip shares a special kind of camaraderie. I wished
Joe had been rather more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. (ch.8)
Unfortunately, the three of them live in a village which classifies them as poor.
Pip is informed of a letter left on the front door, by his sister, inviting him to go over to Miss
Havisham s house. I had heard of Miss Havisham up town everybody for miles round, had heard of
Miss Havisham up town as an immensely rich and grim lady who lived in a large and dismal house

Once Minnie Foster became Minnie Wright, she was a mere speck living in her husband s
world. She is described by Mrs. Hale as young and lively, She used to wear pretty clothes and be
lively when she was Minnie Foster, one of the town girls, singing in the choir (Glaspell 507).
Although her presence in her marriage was small, she holds a major presence in Susan Glaspell s,
A Jury of Her Peers , without even being physically present. Minnie is present in the minds of both
Mrs. Peter and Mrs. Hale once they step foot into her home with symbols such as the kitchen, the

the birdcage, the dead canary, and the busted preserve jars to conclude Minnie Wright lived in a
broken home with a broken marriage which led to Minnie Wright s that both women deemed
justifiable. Before Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale step foot into Minnie Wright s kitchen, they
nervously stood outside already feeling Minnie Wright s presence. Mrs. Hale is described by the
narrator as, Even after she had her foot on the door step, her hand on the knob, Martha Hale had a
moment of feeling she could not cross that threshold (Glaspell 502). Mrs. Hale feels as if she
cannot cross that threshold because she had never crossed it before. There were plenty of times

There are probably millions and billions of video games sold every year to people. Some people
seem to believe that violence correlates directly with video games. Video games are something
that is usually a big interest in people at the ages of 13 to 19 years old. Video games usually start
off as a little fun and then turn into a major hobby for some people. Emotions change based on
whatever happens while a person is engaging in these games most of the time. These games are
another way to observe how people react emotionally to these games.
These video games have ratings made officially by the Entertainment Software Rating Board or
ESRB for short. Video game ratings go in a specific order ranging from Rated EC which means
Early Childhood to Rated RP which means Rating Pending. There are also more ratings in this
guide such as Rated E for Everyone and Rated T for Teens ages 13 and older ( ESRB Ratings Guide
).These video game ratings help the person who is purchasing these games by showing what age is
recommended for the person to be able to play the games.
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board also makes content descriptors. These tell the people
who are buying these games what the game they are buying contains such as, blood and gore
which contains content only for ages 18 and up. Another descriptor is known as use of drugs which
is described as anything involving illegal drugs. Violent References is another content descriptor

As I read The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling, by Ted Chiang, I started to make connections
from modern day life in the United States to the two examples of lifestyles and learning that are
described in this piece. I started to think about how much technology has, and does, influence the
average North American s education and lifestyle and how that has changed significantly over
the past few decades. I also started to think about how the device that is described in the reading
would be beneficial and hurtful to our society and what would happen if someone was able to
hack into the storage systems of all of the information. I believe that advances in technology for
personal use will soon get out of hand, if they have not already, and if we let ourselves rely on
technology too much we as a human race will digress. In tenth grade, as I was about to take the

From this lab, we can learn how using the volume and mass of an object can be used to the
calculate density, and how the density can help you to identify what substance the object is made

Next, the object was placed onto a scale to determine the massin grams (56.56g). We used a ruler to
measure the radius of the base (.6cm) and the height (5cm) of the cylinder shaped substance. We
plugged these measurements into the volumeformula for a cylinder (V

The Benefits Behind Sweatshops
Thesis statement: Sweatshops, when left to operate without government intervention, are the most
efficient way of out poverty.
Introductory rationale: When it comes to social justice issues, most people believe the government
needs to solve the problem. Social justice in sweatshops is no exception. In my research, I have
found that what people see as the cause of injustice in developing countries, sweatshops, are
actually what is responsible for lifting people up out of poverty. As a result, any sort of government
regulation will fail to solve the problem. The audience I am writing for is a diverse group of peers
who are concerned with social justice though they may have different solutions and beliefs about
the topic. My goal in this draft is to expand their knowledge and show them the benefits of not

29. Neil Postman s Exploration Of This Issue
As everyone knows society has many problems, however many do not realize that root of these
problems may stem from the way they are discussed and presented. When a person compares how
information was obtained and current issues were discussed prior to this century they come to find
that the contrast between now and then is so outstanding. It s completely clear why many people
aren t aware of what has been happening. The reason the difference is so profound is because our
discourse has gradually been dumbed down since the beginning of the information era, and people
are treating the serious issues that arise as entertainment. The most powerful culprit being television
, has being accused of causing damage to the people that were raised in the TV era. Neil Postman
s exploration of this issue in his novel written in 1985, Amusing Ourselves to Death, is a crucial
hint of the consequences of being immersed in a culture that is driven by television. Even though it
has been 20 years since the book was published the influx of internet only makes his novel more
and more relevant to today than it was when it was written
Postman s key argument is the comparison of two tremendously different imagined cultures in
literature. The first came from the English novelist, George Orwell s dictatorial society novel,

of oversight to which police forces should be subjected, while maintaining the independence of
those polices forces to carry out their duties free from undue political (or other) interferences. This

Responsible government
Whereas the principle of the independence of the office of the constable serves to ensure that
police do not become the slave of any state or interest group, the principle of responsible
government can be usefully conceived of as ensuring that police remain the servants of the public
at large. Contrary to the idea that the police office is not a servant of anyone, save of the law itself
6, responsible government and police accountability measures aim to ensure that police forces are
answerable to the very communities which vest in the police force the right and responsibility for

In practice, police accountability measures are usually tied into extensive governance frameworks,

31. Backyard Blues Poem Analysis
In Natasha Trethewey s poetry collection Native Guard, the reader is exposed to the story of
Trethewey s growing up in the southern United States and the tragedy which she encountered
during her younger years, in addition to her experiences with prejudice and to issues surrounding
prejudice within the society she is living in. Throughout this work, Trethewey often refers to graves
and provides compelling imagery regarding the burialof the dead. Within Trethewey s work, the
recurring imagery surrounding graves evolves from the gravessimply serving as a personal
reminder of the past, to a statement on the collective memory of society and comments on how
Trethewey is troubled with what society has forgotten as it signifies a willingness to overlook the
dehumanization of a large group of people.
The idea of graves representing memory is introduced in Part I of the collection within the poem
Graveyard Blues . The final stanza of the poem says, I wander now among the names of the dead:
My mother s name, stone pillow for my head (8). First, while the word grave does not appear
within this line, it is heavily implied by the speaker using her mother s name as a stone pillow.
The reader can deduce that this line is referring to a gravestone as when one thinks of a gravestone

both of these elements are emphasized within this line. The main way that this line alludes to

Classic Literature
2 October 2017
The Salem Witch Trials The Salem witch trials were an important event in American history.
However this affected more than Salem, the ripples from these trials swept throughout the United
States. Over two hundred witches where accused and twenty where killed. Later the judges
admitted that they had been mistaken and tried to make it right but frictions lasted for a long time
after word. (Blumberg, 2007) The main reason behind the Salem Witch Trials was fear. The
location of Salem was a town that was on the edge of the settled colonies. Therefor the settlers of
this area had many reasons to fear death, by starvation, sickness, or being killed and scalped by
the Native American that lived in the forest. The people that lived in constant fear took it out on
the weaker people. These weaker people where; the old, the poor, and women. When the
movement started this fear compelled the people to take action. (Salem Witch Trials, 2011)
These trials started in Salem when some young girls had fits. The doctor said it was because of
witches and the town blamed several women. Titub, one of the accused, was a slave form the
Caribbean. Sarah Good, another, was a homeless beggar. Sarah Osborne, an elderly impoverished
woman, was the third accused. These three where imprisoned and where tried. Two of them,
Osborne and Good, refused to confess, but finally Titub confessed to associating to with the devil.

TO: Olo Dictum and Areta Obiter, Senior partners
FROM: Kate Thompson
RE: Damage from Contamination
This opinion assesses Fancy Fertiliser s liability under the rule in Ryland s and Fletcher.
Was the hydrofluorosilicic acid likely to cause mischief?
The rule established in Ryland s and fletcher is that anything likely to cause mischief, if it escapes
refers to beasts, or water, or filth, or stenches. In the case of Cambridge Water Co and Eastern
Counties Leather, the chemical perchloroethene (for tanning leather) was the culprit of
contamination and it was ruled that it was included as something used to cause mischief if it
escaped. We can use this ruling to decide that the hydrofluorosilicic acid was likely to cause
mischief.
Did the hydrofluorosilicic acid escape?
In the case of Read and Lyons, escape was defined as where a thing goes from an area under the
defendants control to an area outside their control. In both instances of the chemical entering the
student flats and from the truck to the toitЕ« early settler s museum the chemicals had left the
defendants facility to an area outside of their control. Therefore it can be established that the
chemical did indeed escape.
Was the hydrofluorosilicic acid brought onto the land?
In Ryland s and Fletcher it is established that it is a necessity for absolute liability therefore the
literal interpretation be taken; being that they introduced something onto the land that was not there

CRITICALLY ANALYZE THE CHANGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE LAND
REGISTRATION ACT 2012 IN THE MANAGEMENT OF REAL PROPERTY IN KENYA
TAKING NOTE TO EXPLORE IN DETAIL THE FRAMEWORK THAT HAS BEEN RELACED.
INTRODUCTION
The land registration ACT is an act of Parliament to revise, consolidate and rationalize the
registration of titles to land, to give effect to the principles and objects of devolved government in
land registration, and for connected purposes. What was being revised is the old registration act
which had to be altered to accommodate the changes in the government layout and the mountain of
complains they were receiving from the public. The new act had to be physically more solid and
efficient if implemented well. The loopholes that were found in the earlier act had to be done away
with.
Land is one of the most controversial things in Kenya. So many people have been displaced and
their land grabbed by individuals who have developed talent in this sector who have made it a
business venture. Land that was designated for agriculture and also as green zone have been
depleted which has led major cities in Kenya such as Nairobi unsustainable.
The current situation in Kenya is such that people do not know the boundary of their land and
most of the time they encroach on peoples land which has led to major conflicts. The revised land
registration act wants to remedy this situation so that Kenya can be a safe zone when for both the
citizens and investors.

36. Freudian And Lacanian Psychoanalysis, By Barbara Creed
INTRODUCTION
Psychoanalytic film theory, which is derived from Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis, appears
in the discussion of cinema early in the 1970s. As the conjunction of psychoanalysis and film
theory, scholars use this theory for textual analysis and different elements like the monstrous
feminine, mirror stage identification, and the Oedipus complex are concluded and developed. To
reexamine the mother child relationship, I will argue that these key elements of psychoanalytic
film theory are useful to understand the psychic activities of protagonists of Black Swan and The
Babadook. Additionally, they provide some evidence to explain the mode of how a mother gets

shocking, terrifying, horrific, and abject (Creed 1993, 1) female image which is also commonly
associated with mothering functions. We can find that the abjection occupies the whole film The
Babadook.
For Amelia, the loss of her husband on the birthday of her son becomes a powerful abjection
which she tries to deny and avoid. However, every time Amelia struggles to reject it, exclude it and
make it other (Buerger 2017, 35), the significance and the effects brought by the trauma become
profound. Thus, the monstrous feminine is fully revealed when Amelia has to surrender to mister
Babadook, the embodiment of the abjection. One of the scene shows Amelia tries to pull a tooth
out of her mouth. A series of close up of Amelia s facial expression and hand movements indicate
the struggle she goes through when the Babadook takes up her. The only sound is Amelia s painful
cry, which also shows her cruelty and determination. In relation to several scenes before, Amelia
has a toothache when she eats something with her son. Working the same as a viscera, the tooth
Amelia pulls out symbolize her son Samuel, and the action of pulling the tooth out represents
Amelia refuses to play the maternal role and wants to get rid of her son. Besides showing Amelia

39. The Characteristics Of Being An Honorable And Honest...
I believe that to accomplish something great in life is what most people strive to reach in their
lives. Having the courage to be an honorable and honest person is an amazing quality to have.
You may ask why is it so hard to be honest, well I feel it takes courage and honorability to stand
alone and fight for what is right. Believing and fighting for what is right for me is very courageous
and for many people that is very frightening and they sometimes prefer to stay quiet and not do
anything.
In the poem, Beowulf, he was a brave warrior, a hero to the people. His honorability was so great
he had faith and believed in God. Beowulf saved the people from the monstrous Grendel when he
was terrorizing the town. I think honor is one of the characteristics that Beowulf has. An honorable
person is one who is deserving of respect. (Lynne Bratcher)It is very hard to be honorable and
honest in a world of competition, where most everyone lies and betrays each other. It takes a very
strong person, not physically but mentally and emotionally as well to be honest and honorable.
Having faith and wanting to do good by God are what makes us do the right things. Speaking the
truth when everyone else disagrees, it can sometimes be very frightening and hard for us to do
because of the fear of being rejected by others. Being loyal and helping others without accepting
nothing back in return makes us honorable.
Beowulf was a brave and courageous warrior, defeating three terrifying monsters with his bare
hands.Walking into the layer of the monster had to be very terrifying but, Beowulf courageously
went into it and behead Grendel s mother. (Heaney)Fearless and daring can guide you to be
courageous and to move in a dangerous situation. What makes a person so brave and
courageous? Was is because he was big and extremely strong? Being courageous does not mean
you have to be strong, but having heart. Moving in the face of danger. (Martha
Pasternak)Having passion about what is being done, even if it means it would be dangerous and
even fatal. There are many brave and courageous people out there in today s society. A firefighter
that goes into a burning building to save a person or a police officer that puts his or her life in the
line for

The main role of the kidneys is to regulate body fluids within narrow limits by maintaining

Sodium is the major cation (positively charged ion) which is present in the ECF. The normal
range for sodium is 135 145mEq/L. Sodium plays a role in fluid balance, osmotic pressure, muscle
contraction and can be regulated by a sodium potassium pump. When there are deficiencies in
sodium (i.e. 145mEq/L) are known as hypernatremia. The kidneys try to counteract this by secreting
ADH to retain water. Hyperaldosteronism (increased aldosterone levels which increase sodium
reabsorption) can be another cause of hypernatremia. Other causes can include excessive fluid loss,
high salt intake and increased kidney reabsorption. Symptoms of hypernatremia include
dehydration, fever or coma.
Overall regulating electrolytes are vital to maintaining a balance in keeping homeostatic conditions.
Acid base balance must also be sustained to enable maximum function of the kidneys. Both
electrolytes and acid base balance are important components regulated by the kidney and lungs to
some extent; and keeping equilibrium and balanced levels will be beneficial for a healthy
functionality of the kidneys.

In terms of the artists and musicians, I believe that although they started out as losers, in the end,
they ended up winning because for already discovered, well known singers, they are getting the
royalties they are owed and for new, up and coming artists, they are getting their name out there
in a much less expensive way than before and still making some sort of money to support their
dream. The agents and label companies will become winners as well through the transformations.
The larger companies will most likely lose some strength and then gain back once they begin to
find new artists and those artists begin to take off. The risk/reward of the digital market here will
yield much more reward and their financial strength from the start will help them be a winner
here. I feel the biggest loser in throughout the entire industry transformation is the packaging and
CD production industry. Because CDs are no longer at an all time high, they will no longer be
needed. There is very little need for this and it has almost become a niche market, barely used for
music anymore, unless someone is burning their own music onto a CD. Albums being created and
sold solely onto a CD has decreased substantially and within the next few years could become
something in the past. This is the biggest loser by far through the music industry transformation.

46. Why Is The Battle Of Hastings Successful
The Battle of Hastings, 1066, saw Harold Godwinson, King of England, defeated by William,
Duke of Normandy. This historic battle was the result of Harold s predecessor, Edward the
Confessor, not leaving an heir to the English throne. This led to over 9 months of fighting between
the four claimants to the throne; Edgar the Atheling, Harald Hardrada, William, Duke of Normandy
and Harold Godwinson. At last, only two remained standing; Harold and William. This essay will
describe the events of the Battle of Hastingsand explain the dominating factors of William s
triumph: preparation readiness, good bad luck and leadership tactics.

The battle of Hastings took place on Senlac Hill, of which Harold was on. He chose this position
so the Normans would have to charge uphill to get to them. This meant that the Normans would
tire out quicker. Harold put his soldiers in a shield wall, making it harder for William s men to
get to them. William divided his men into three groups roughly corresponding to origin. The left
third was the Bretons, along with those from Anjou, Maine and Poitou. The right was made up by
Frenchmen, along with some men from Picardy, Boulogne, and Flanders, with the centre third
consisting of mainly Normans. William s plan was to use his many archers to weaken the
frontlines and then charge. However, when his plan failed and his arrows bounced harmlessly off
the Saxon shields, he ordered a charge. At his command, all three thirds charged towards the Saxon
wall and engaged in battle almost instantaneously. Many Normans were injured in this clash,
whereas most of the Saxons were well protected by their shield wall. At some point during the
battle, some of William s army, mainly the Bretons, ran away from the battle when they heard that
William had been killed in the clash. William had to take off his helmet

In a way I feel Mourad is crazy, mostly because of how he answers questions and the ways he

48. Paradox In Catch 22
In Catch 22, Joseph Heller uses paradoxes, selfishness, self destruction, and miscommunication to
satirize and provoke changes in war and the military establishment through a pilot, Yossarian,
whose only goal has become to escape the traps created by bureaucracy before it kills him.
Heller uses irrationality to portray the waste and justification that takes place in the military.
The court martial uses a paradox to assert guilt instead of any real evidence. He wouldn t be on
trial if he wasn t guilty. This irrationality contrasts with the idea of the rule of law. It is indicative
of the lack of thinking and individuality from the judge. The judge is not the only character to
behave insanely. According to critic Louis Hasley, There are no good guys in this book. Just
about every one of the approximately two score characters of some importance is called crazy at
one time or another (Hasley 5). Major Major s paradoxical loss of his lunch position led to his
isolation. Too high ranked to sit with the enlisted men, not enough experience to sit with the
officers, The isolation leads to a vast amount of waste and confusion caused by Major Major in his
irrational promotion. Eating is commonly used as an act of communion in books. Major Major is
denied this community by Cathcart so that he can get rid of a troublesome subordinate. The
paradox in Catch 22 embodies Yossarians situation. The catch is that by asking to be grounded for
insanity, one proves that they are not insane

Compare and Contrast Fats Generally, the word shortening means any group of solid fats.
Shortenings generally consist of nearly 100 percent fat. It may be made from vegetable oils,
animal fats, or both. Shortenings are used for may purposes, so manufacturers have formulated
various kinds of fats with various properties. (Gisslen, 2013)
All Purpose Shortening
Also known as regular shortening, have a tough, waxy texture, and small particles of the fat tend to
hold their shape in a dough or batter. They are called plastic shortenings, which means they are
moldable at room temperature. They have a good creaming ability. Which means that a good
quantity of air can be mixed into them to give a batter lightness and leavening power. This type of
shortening melts only at a high temperature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are also used in many other pastries, breads, and products mixed by creaming, such as certain
pound cakes, cookies, and quick breads.
High Ratio Shortening
These are soft shortenings that spread easily throughout a batter and quickly coat the particles of
sugar and flour. The are call high ratio because they were devised for use in cake batter that
contain a high ratio of sugar and liquid to flour. They also contain added emulsifying agents, so they
can hold a larger quantity of liquid and sugar than regular shortenings. Which gives a smoother and
finer texture to cake and make them moister. Commonly referred to as emulsifying shortening.
High ratio shortening does not cream well. When a recipe calls for creaming shortening and sugar,
regular shortening should be used. High ratio shortening is often used in icings because it can hold
more sugar and liquid without curdling. It is more temperature stable and will hold air better upon
whipping, improving volume and stability.

Slavery has taken many forms throughout history and still exists in a few forms to the day. The
Caribbean has had a painful history regarding the slavery of two cultures. The slavery of the region
ultimately led to racism against africans and to the industrial revolution. Communities of the
Caribbean have been haunted by their history of slaveryand colonialism which fueled colonial
European capitalism. The impact that the plantation system had on the region has left a lasting scar

One of the largest impacts from the colonial era had on the Caribbean is on its economy. The
Caribbean was first mined for gold by Columbus when he discovered the area. When the gold ran
out, plantations were set up for growing coffee and sugar to sell on the European markets. The
system is ingrained into the culture.
The sugar plantation was a landed estate that specialized in export production. It combined large
scale tropical agriculture, African labor, European and African technology, European animal
husbandry, Asian and American plants, and the climate and soils of the Americas. The typical sugar
plantation was a big business establishment, both farm and factory. Sugarcane was grown, raw
sugar manufactured, and molasses distilled into rum. (source 2)

The symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection can be caused by several other viruses and

The Common Cold. An acute viral infection of the upper respiratory tract is often spread by hand
contact from an infected person. This may be from direct, indirect, or aerosol of the secretions and
the virus (Allan and Arroll, pg 190). The common cold is often less severe than the flu but has
similar symptoms. The cold typically is a shorter mild illness with symptoms gradually occurring. It
is known to start with sneezing, sore throat, possible chills, and headache. As the cold enhances the
patient may present with nasal drainage or congestion and cough. A cold is preventable with
physical interventions, probiotics, and exercise. Physical interventions are extremely important in
preventing illness and preventing the illness from spreading. These interventions can include hand

57. The Great Controversy Of Sophocles Oedipus The King
The Great Controversy
Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud were the inspirational words spoke by the great
Greek playwright Sophocles. This inspiring quote sets the controversial atmosphere of Sophocles
women in the Greek tragedy Oedipus The King . However to fully understand this controversy, you
must first look at how compassion and selfishness flooded the lives of Sophocles women.
Throughout the play, Sophocles presents two prestigious women to his audience, Queen Merope of
Corinth and Queen Jocasta of Thebes. Queen Merope was the adopted mother of Oedipus and
Queen Jocasta was his wife and mother. Both women shared a common link to Oedipus as they
both played the maternal role in his life and showed him compassion. Although Jocasta was his
biological mother, Merope was more of a mother to him than she was. This is evident at the
beginning of the pay when Jocasta abandoned her child because she feared a prophecy but on the
other hand, Merope who had no children was given the child, whom she loved. In contrast to
Jocasta who saw Oedipus existence as a curse, Merope saw it as a blessing.
Following this further, Merope raised Oedipus and taught him all the guidelines he needed to
know to become the strong ruler that he was. She also took him under her wing as her own and
presented him the love he was never shown. For the most part, this was genuinely acceptable
however, she allowed this love to blind her from Oedipus erroneous actions. He became

58. Essay about Henry VIII
Henry VIII From any point of view the destruction of the English monasteries by Henry VIII
must be regarded as one of the great events of the sixteenth century. They were looked upon in
England, at the time of Henry s breach with Rome, as one of the great bulwarks of the papal
system. The monks had been called the great standing army of Rome. One of the first practical
results of the assumption of the highest spiritual powers by the king was the supervision by royal
decree of the ordinary episcopal visitations, and the appointment of a layman Thomas Cromwell as
the king s vicar general in spirituals, with special authority to visit the monastic houses, and to bring
them into line with the new order of things. This was in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It must have been felt, however, by the astute Cromwell, who is credited with the first
conception of the design, that to succeed, a project such as this must be sustained by strong yet
simple reasons calculated to appeal to the popular mind. Some decent pretext had to be found for
presenting the proposed measure of suppression and confiscation to the nation, and it can hardly
now be doubted that the device of blackening the characters of the monks and nuns was
deliberately resorted to. The visitation opened apparently in the summer of 1535, although the
visitatorial powers of the bishops were not suspended until the eighteenth of the following
September. Preachers were moreover commissioned to go over the country in the early autumn,
in order, by their invectives, to educate public opinion against the monks. These pulpit orators
were of three sorts: railers , who declaimed against the religious as hypocrites, sorcerers, and idle
drones, etc. ; preachers , who said the monks made the land unprofitable ; and those who told the
people that, if the abbeys went down, the king would never want any taxes again. This last was a
favourite argument of Cranmer, in his sermons at St. Paul s Cross. The men employed by
Cromwell the agents entrusted with the task of getting up the required evidence were chiefly four,

59. Deflatehate Research Paper
Deflatehate?.
Confetti pouring down as the scoreboard strikes zero. Players hug their coaches celebrating the
hard work. But many fans ask themselves, Did they really win fair and square? Many believe
that the 2014 15 NFL Patriots used deflated footballs to provide an advantage. The team had their
footballs well under the NFL standard by at least a pound. The whole event became known as
Deflategate. Many started to wonder if it really did give the team an edge. The controversial belief
that an underinflated football really does provide an advantage has been a hot debate in the sports
world. Footballs under inflated provide an advantage for being able to spin and throw the ball
farther than normal, having an advantage during slippery weather, ... Show more content on

Khan Academy explains, The second law of motion states that force on an object is equal to the
mass of the object multiplied by its acceleration. If we apply this law to a football, it tells us that the
amount that the ball accelerates depends on the force applied by the quarterback and the mass
of the ball. ( Football Physics ). The less mass a ball has the further it s potential to travel is. The
lighter the ball is, the faster and further the ball can move. Additionally, Khan Academy writes,
The second law also tells us that acceleration of the football also depends on the mass of the
football. If the player is throwing an extra heavy football, the acceleration of the football would
decrease compared to a lighter football that is thrown with the same force. ( Football Physics ).
This quote explains that the lighter a ball is, the farther a ball can be thrown. Also, the farthest a
ball can be thrown depends on the amount of force the person throwing applies to the ball. (
Football Physics ). When a ball is lighter due to less air pressure, the quarterback will be able to
throw it further. The less mass makes the ball lighter, and this will allow the wind to be able to
carry the ball
