The Emotional Scene In Act IV Scene IV, By William...
Many seem to see Act IV Scene IV as lighthearted and simple or even boring, but this scene is a
truly actually very complex scene due to some and carries some dark undertones. The spring setting
directly contrasts thewith tense discussions and dark themes of death and decay. This comes to a
head when Polixenes reveals himself, sentencing the Old Shepard to death, and Perditato be horribly
disfigured. Throughout the scene, Polixenes actually seems like a mirror for Leontes s actions in
the first three acts. Overall, this scene is definitely more than meets the eye.
Act IV Scene IV, also known as the pastoral scene, opens with Florizel and Perdita, two young
lovers, talking. Florizel is excited for the sheep shearing festival they will be ... Show more content

This entire speech goes against the tone of the scene, and of the last two acts in general. The
king, it seems, has taken a page right out of Leontes book; in a fit of rage, he sentences several
people to cruel fates. Autolycus takes this theme of death to the extreme when he tries to scam the
Old Shepherd and the Clown. He mentions how the Clown will allegedly be flayed and tortured in
other horrible ways. This scares the Shepherd and Clown so much that they gladly pay the thief to

History of the Philippine Agriculture
Philippine Agriculture over the Years: Performance, Policies and Pitfalls 1
Cielito F. Habito and Roehlano M. Briones 2
Introduction Although many still think of the Philippines as an agricultural economy, strictly
speaking, it is not. Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one fifth (20 percent)
of the economy s aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of
agriculture in the GDP had fallen below one third, and by 1981, the sector s share had decreased
to only 23 percent. Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum
during the period 1981 2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same
period. While agriculture output was largely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last section identifies the pitfalls that have hampered investments in the sector and stifled
growth in the agribusiness industry, and ends with a general indication of the needed interventions
to overcome the sector s current hurdles.
Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines
agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and
agricultural exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But
by the 1980s and 1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region
(Figures 3b and 3c). This came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically
through the decades (Figure 4). Moreover, the sector s growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s,
especially with the periodic occurrence of the El NiГ±o phenomenon that had appreciable impact
on weather patterns and, consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual
growth in GVA of major agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that
growth rates of all commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over
time. Furthermore, growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that
production has not been able to keep up with increasing population. Erratic and decelerating growth
over the past two decades is a major concern, as agriculture continues to employ a large

Essay on Enzymes
Enzymes Enzymes are catalysts. Most are proteins. (A few ribonucleoprotein enzymes have been
discovered and, for some of these, the catalytic activity is in the RNA part rather than the protein
part. Link to discussion of these ribozymes.)
Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so,
they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. Most of these
interactions are weak and especially so if the atoms involved are farther than about one angstrom
from each other. So successful binding of enzyme and substrate ... Show more content on

This is because the structure of malonic acid allows it to bind to the same site on the enzyme (b).
But there is no oxidation so no speedy release of products. The inhibition is called competitive
because if you increase the ratio of succinic to malonic acid in the mixture, you will gradually
restore the rate of catalysis. At a 50:1 ratio, the two molecules compete on roughly equal terms for
the binding (=catalytic) site on the enzyme.
Factors Affecting Enzyme Action
[IMAGE]The activity of enzymes is strongly affected by changes in pH and temperature. Each
enzyme works best at a certain pH (left graph) and temperature (right graph), its activity decreasing
at values above and below that point. This is not surprising considering the importance of
* tertiary structure (i.e. shape) in enzyme function and
* noncovalent forces, e.g., ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds, in determining that shape.
Examples:
* the protease pepsin works best as a pH of 1 2 (found in the stomach) while
* the protease trypsin is inactive at such a low pH but very active at a pH of 8 (found in the small
intestine as the bicarbonate of the pancreatic fluid neutralizes the arriving stomach contents). [
Discussion]
Changes in pH alter the state of ionization of charged amino acids (e.g., Asp, Lys) that may

A Case Of A Correctional Officer Essay
They went further on to inform us that only a pretrial would be taking place, since a new
information being submitted by a correctional officer was to be debated as to whether it was
substantial enough to be admitted as evidence. Moreover, because we arrived earlier than the
original time for the Riker s island pretrial, we witnessed a brief trail which to me wasn t
informative because very little could be heard from what the judge, prosecutorand a different
defense attorney were discussing. Since I could retain very little information from that trial, I took a
quick glance at the interior structure of the court room. To accurately present the surroundings of
the court room without interrupting the ongoing trail, I imagined myself standing at the door we
entered through to the room. With my back facing the door, I pictured the room as having seats
arranged much like how churches have long chairs that could occupy a number of individuals, a
long aisle that separated the seating into sections of right and left with the male and female
prosecutors of the cases chairs and computers in front of the seats on my right and the defense
attorneys with their clients on the left. The seating sections for observers had ropes in front of
them, separating them from where the prosecutors, lawyers, defendants, judge, security and the
juror were seated. Both the right and left seats had the first roll of seats cleared by the security with
have no sitting on them, a phenomenon that I still

Medicare-Recent Changes In Healthcare
Recent Changes in Medicare The year 2017, you will notice a change moving on into place for
the healthcare. If you already have or do not have medicare, there will still be a change that will
be noticed. Other than the usual every year changes that are introduced to be helpful to the
program. Everyone knows that Medicare is made for older adults starting the age of 65 or older,
even with people who have disabilities and they do not care about the income. A growth in
premiums and high deductibles will be posted. The use of inflation determines the gain of benefits
that will be put into place. An increase in a check might not be huge but still remember that you

The Importance Of Freedom Rides
Imagine how it would feel if you were not allowed to go into the same bathroom as everyone
else, if you were told to sit in a cut off section of a restaurant, or if you were made to sit on the
back of a public bus. African Americans had to endure that way of life majority of the 20th
century. They did not get the same equal rights as any other human beings in America(Lifson).
Because of the mistreatment, African Americans began to take a stand and speak out on the
injustices they face everyday just because of the color of their skin, and it began a powerful
movement. They had multiple protest to push for equal rights: sit ins, marches, bus boycotts, etc. In

of the Pacifist fellowship of reconciliation(Histor/Watch). James Farmer, C.O.R.E. s first black
national director, was the man who organized the new generation of freedom rides(the freedom
rides 1961). He was a civil rights activist/leader who pushed for non violence protests. C.O.R.E. s
goals when starting the freedom rides was to desegregate interstate transportation facilities in the
south in a nonviolent way. C.O.R.E recruited young college students to go on this journey(core

so they prepared the recruits like football coaches prepare their players to get tackled. C.O.R.E
practiced role playing situations with the recruits to train them on what would be said/what would
be done to them. While role playing, hateful things would be said and the students would even be
physically harmed. The preparation was emotionally and physically rough, but it was nothing
compared to what these riders would have to go through(freedom riders. pbs)

The Choice Of Cpu And Intel Core I7
1.0Choice of the CPUs
The choice of CPU will influence the other decisions one makes about the ability to find a
compatible motherboard, CPU cooler and (to some extent) power supply. The Intel Core i7 4820K
and the Intel Core i5 4670K can be easily differentiated. The main Characteristics of both are
explained as follows:
a) General Characteristics of Intel Core i7 4820K
1.The Operating frequency is higher in Intel i7 4820K.
2.The Intel Core i7 4820K is not locked , that is, the processor can be easily over clocked on most
motherboards for better performance.
3.This processor includes Advanced Encryption Standard technology which provides AES
encryption acceleration to secure the disk data.
4.The i7 is hyper threaded, which means that it can handle twice the amount of threads than i5,
putting it at a capacity of eight simultaneous threads. b) General Characteristics of Intel Core i5
4670K
1.The Intel Core i5 comes with higher operating frequency than the Core i7.
2.Power usage of the microprocessor is better.
3.AVX, AVX2, F16C and FMA3 instructions are included in the Core i5 4670K. These extensions
are not widely used in applications.
4.The i5 4670K combines Graphics Processing Unit that can be used for casual gaming and 3D
apps, but it is not too fast to run latest games at full resolution.
5.The i5 4670K uses The Socket 1150, which is still effectively supported by Intel.
1. b Performance
CPU performance of Core i5 parts is slower than that of Core i7.

Simba And Hamlet Comparison Essay
Through analyzing the movies Hamlet and The Lion King, it is clear that the resemblance and
differences between the two characters Hamlet and Simba and the storyline itself are very
noticeable. The main similarities taken away from the movie is the similarities between these two
princes that is widely talked about is the characters friendships and the death of both of their fathers.
The deaths of their fathers made them try and forget and redeem their deaths. A differencebetween
these two movies is the contrast between how Simba and Hamletare perceived to their family and

Assessment Task 2: Exhibition review Mike Parr: foreign looking National Gallery of Australia
12 August 6 November While Parr is arguably one of Australia s most internationally recognized
artists, his practice has always been divisive, particularly shocking or controversial. In Australian
art, Mike Parr fashioned the sequences of strange images. The new major retrospective exhibition
is now open at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. Parr is the most recognised artist
with the series of exhibitions held at numerous biennales in Sydney, displayed with survey and
retrospectives in state owned galleries such as the NGA and the Museum of Contemporary Art in

The Contributions Of John Stuart Mill
John Stuart Mill was a British philosopher who was born on May 20, 1806 in London, England, to
Harriet Burrow and James Mill, a noted economist, philosopher and historian. James Mill was an
educated man who was heavily involved in an early 19th century movement called philosophic
radicalism, a school of thought also known as Utilitarianism, which highlighted the demand for a
scientific foundation for philosophy, as well as a humanist approach to economics politics. It was
this foundation from which James Millurged and advanced his eldest son s education from a very
early age. John Stuart studied Greek at age three and Latin at eight, and he was asked to recite
everything he had learned to his father every day. John Stuart also studied mathematics and science
for his personal enjoyment and would engage in long discussions with his father about histories and
biographies that he had read. It is interesting to note that John Stuart was also empowered with the
responsible for educating his eight younger siblings. His childhood comprised of a strict
environment of learning, teachings and tutoring, however, John Stuart felt that he was emotionally
compromised by his father s educational plan. Although John Stuart never actually attended
university, by the age of twenty, he essentially had a postgraduate self education in logic, political
economy and law. As an adult, John Stuart once stated that, out of all of his studies, teachings and
education, the element that he

Dr. Nitschke s Arguments Against Euthanasia
Euthanasia is a controversial debate in society today. Dr. Nitschke wrote an essay titled
Euthanasia: Hope You Need it, but be Glad the Option is There . Dr. Nitschke s purpose of writing
this article was to conduct an essay covering the euthanasia topic. Nitschke is a director of the pro
euthanasia organization, while having a career in medicinefor twenty five years. Nitschke fully
supports the use of euthanasia.
The main argument of this essay is the author, Dr. Nitschke, wanting to allow terminally ill patients
to have the choice of euthanasia within their life. The issues on the table are too important for
hysterical indignation and fundamental religion dogma. We are all grown ups. is the thesis

Partisan Polarization Has Been An Issue For Many Americans
According to the Pew Research Center, partisan polarization has been an issue for many
Americans for a long period of time. Meaning, that those Americans are not in complete agreement
with either republican or democratic parties, their ideas, and standards. In response, the Pew
Research Center made an anonymous survey in an attempt to find and categorize people s
typology. If one were to take the quiz, their answers would create the their new typology and show
how it may correspond with either partisan parties. When I took the Pew Research Centerquiz, I
found out that I am in the Faith and Family Left typology category. I agree with my given typology
to a certain extent. Due to the limited number of answers of the quiz and the way questions were
worded, it forced me to make uncomfortable choices, which weakened my ability to agree with my
results. Although, the quiz did include all governmentissues and involvements, I think the most
prominent issue is foreign involvement, specifically, the Islamic Statein which the government will
have to become more active and continue to be involved in with the Islamic State. Faith and
Family Left does, in fact, capture the majority of how I view issues of politics and public policy. I
do believe that government support is an important role for the government to have in order to
better the country. Next, it is said that the majority of people who are Faith and Family Left oppose

Foundations Of The Building Transfer
FOUNDATIONS The foundations of the building transfer the weight of the building to the
ground. While foundation is really a general word, normally, every building has many individual
foundations, commonly called footings. Usually each column of the building will have its
individual footing. Since the weight of the building rests on the land (or rock), engineers have
to study the properties of the soil very carefully to ensure it can carry the loads imposed because
of the building. It is common for engineers to determine the safe bearing capacity of your soil
after such study. Because the name suggests, this is the amount of weight per unit area your soil
can bear. For instance, the safe bearing capacity(SBC) for a location could be 20 T/m2, or
perhaps tonnes per square metre. That capacity also changes at different depths of soil. In
normal, the deeper one digs, the greater the SBC, unless there are pockets of weak soil in the
earth. To properly support a building, the soil must become very firm and strong. It is common
for the soil near the top of earth to be loose along with weak. If a building is rested within this
soil, it will sink in the earth like a ship in water. Building contractors will commonly dig until they
reach quite firm, strong, soil that can not be dug up easily before building a foundation. To study
the properties of the soil before designing foundations, engineers will request a soil investigation to
be achieved. A soil investigation engineer will

There were no time guzzling metal detectors at the airports... or the schools. There were no
grouchy warning labels on the records and no ratings necessary on the movies. And TV shows
were acceptable to the whole family. Those were the sixties or at least part of it. Some of the 52

for peace and the flower power attitude. Others, a little more pessimistic, called it the decade of
dissatisfactionbecause of the protests against the war and the race riotsin many cities. For the
teenagers it was the decade of sweet sounding, good time rock n roll...from the Beatles to the Kinks

Today the film industry is booming. The film industry also makes more than 200 movies a year so
they can usually film within the country. However both today and in the sixties film was in color
and both decades targeted younger audiences. Movie ticket prices have also increased. An average
movie ticket in the sixties cost about thirty eight cents, whereas today tickets cost between five and
eight dollars.
Literature techniques and topics chosen by authors reflected the social changes and interests of
the sixties. Some writers focused on traditional issues, others reflected the cultural conflicts
made by the Civil Rights movement, the coming of age of the post war baby boomers and the
war in Vietnam. Popular book genres of the sixties were romance, science fiction, and fantasy.
Slaughterhouse Five and Stranger in A Strange Land are just two examples. Today people enjoy
reading fantasy and non fiction novels as well. Although they also buy dating books such as He

for non fiction in general. Both Growing Up Absurd and Feminine Mystique did well with
readers. Non fiction and fiction today don t really compete since they have separate bestsellers
list. However both are doing well with the Da Vinci Code and My Life So Far on a Bestsellers List.

The 2016 presidential election has created much controversy as both parties were viciously

Party was the wanting to pursue was the building of a wall that will border the United States and
Mexico. Although the source of this money is unaware, Trump s plan is make the country of Mexico
to pay for it as it stretches nearly two thousands miles long and has a great expense (Drew).
This action that Trump wishes to put into place is negative to outlook on the United States and

In fact, Stew Magnuson an author and journalist explains the drastically long period of time that
it will take for a hardship like this The Trump Wall will never be completed as envisioned before
the new president leaves office even if he were to win a second term. In fact, it s a safe bet to
say a nearly 2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers
to put on this wall to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of
1.2 billion dollars to buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump
claims it will take at least a year to accomplish this wall, it is believed that it will take longer than
possible a decade of work (Moller). With the preparation, the workers, and the funding to make
this project set into play, will still take over a decades of work; in fact, it took the Chinese 2,000
years to build the great wall (Griffiths). Although, the executive order is signed for the building of
the wall, still many disagree on its intentions to fix a not as important problem in society today.
Many do not agree according to a poll by the Washingtonpost that states Washington Post ABC

Causes of Inflation and Deflation
WITH THE AID OF DIAGRAMS, ILLUSTRATE THE CAUSES OF INFLATION AND
DEFLATION, AND BY COMPARING THEIR ECONOMIC EFFECTS CONSIDER HOW BOTH
CAN AFFECT THE CORPORATE SECTOR.
The essay will describe causes of inflation and deflation and explain how they can affect the
corporate sector.
1. INTRODUCTION DEFINITION OF INFLATIONAND DEFLATION
Inflation is a process in which the price level is rising and money is losing value. (Parkin, Powell,
Matthews p654)
Inflation tends to rise when at the current price level, demand for goods and services in the
economy are greater than economy s ability to produce goods and services.
The graph below shows continuously growing inflation, occurred by a rising price level.
If the price level is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a respond to that workers demand pay increase and with higher cost business need to increase
its prices again В–that is called cost push inflation spiral.
Cost push inflation usually leads to a slower growth of company profits which can then feed
through into business investment decisions.
An increase in output prices, such as rise in wage rates or the cost of raw materials, increases firm
s costs. With higher costs, firms are less able to make profit. Some firms exit the market and, as a
result, aggregate supply is less and shifts to the left. The macroeconomic equilibrium changes, with
input prices push up inflation across the economy.
Cost push inflation usually leads to a slower growth of company profits which can then feed
through into business investment decisions.
THE ECONOMICS EFFECTS OF INFLATION AND DEFLATION
Inflation is costly when it is unanticipated because it redistributes income and wealth and creates
inefficiency in the economy.
(Parkin,Powell,Matthews p676)
There is widespread agreement that high and volatile inflation can be damaging both to individual
businesses and consumers and also to the economy as a whole.
However, economists disagree about the relative seriousness of inflation. The revision notes below
cover some of the main economic and social costs associated with persistent inflation in goods and
services.

Comparing If We Must Die And The Lynching
During a time of rebirth for the African Americans in Harlem, writer Claude McKay embraced a
militant mindset that quickly became the basis for the Harlem Renaissance. Despite being born in
Jamaica, he came to the United States in 1912 and soon after published works that spread
throughout the Unites States and brought him fame. Frustrated by the racism present in the South,
McKay would denounce racism though his writing. His poem, If We Must Die, was published
during the Red Summer in 1919 and directly embodies his ardent and zealous spirit. The period of
racial violence called for such action, yet in his following poem, The Lynching, published less than
a year later in 1920, McKay s writing conveys a completely different message that questioning...

Both make use of the sonnet form, an appeal from McKay to a higher level of white academics.
He aims to prove his worth and educated status using a form that would compare him to authors
like Shakespeare. By proving himself to a larger, white audience, his message is more easily
appreciated and understood. But through both, there is still mystery as to why there is a drastic
difference in tone. On one hand, it could be due to the time difference. His reaction to the Red
Summer in If We Must Die comes from a place of deep emotion. His mentality to challenge the

prominent. On the other hand, the emotion that is shown in his writing could express his change
of opinion from outcry and anger to hopeless and depressed. Between 1919 and 1920, McKay
was exposed to the reality of the racial situation that opposed his beliefs and core mission. When
his vision did not come to fruition, he realized the problem was deeply engrained and not easily

expressing his hope for resilience and prosperity for the African Americancommunity. Claude

Figure 1: Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of (a) MWCNT and (b) Ni NP MWCNT

electrodes.
The image in Fig. 1a shows that the MWCNTs form a dense and open matrix of high surface area.
The MWCNTs are 4 5 Вµm in length and 60 100 nm in diameter. The presence of Ni NPs on the
MWCNT surfaces in Fig. 1b does not influence the structure of the MWCNT matrix, leaving it
quite open and accessible to the electrolyte. In order to clearly show the presence of Ni NPs on the
MWCNTs, transmission electron microscopy was conducted. Fig. 1c shows a TEM image of
MWCNT prior to deposition of Ni NPs by PLA. The walls of the MWCNT are smooth and void of
any observable NPs. Fig. 1d contrasts the TEM image shown in Fig. 1c by displaying a Ni NP
decorated MWCNT. It can be seen that the Ni NPs are uniformly distributed along the MWCNT,
covering the entire surface. The Ni NPs are shaped as nano flakes .

An attempt is a struggle to accomplish an action with little confidence that success will be a result.
This is seen in Obasan in many different ways, the difficulties that the government creates, this

Naomi s attempt to receive vital information in her life causes her to have troubles dealing with
surroundings. Obasan s and Uncle s lives around her are marked by silence. When Naomi s
mother leaves to assist her Grandmother in Japan, Naomi has little or no information about the
state of her mother. When Naomi approaches Obasan and tries to get answers, the only
achievement is Obasan s silence. The family with the exception of the foil, Aunt Emily, has
silence and inability to communicate with others. When Naomi was sexually assaulted by Old
Man Gower at a young age she felt she could not tell any of her family. She did not make an
effort to prevent it from happening again, she relied on Stephen to come and rescue her but, he
never did. This was learned from her family, they never directly address the problem with one
exception Aunt Emily. Naomi s attempt to live freely is prohibited by her family; Naomi has a
desire for knowledge and cannot fulfill her needs in that area. While she lives with restrictions
eventually, as she grows physically and mentally, she begins to gain the knowledge she wanted
earlier. While Naomi may be prohibited by the actions of her family, the effort and desire to find

The Pursuit Of Freedom And Justice There Was A Hurricane
In the Pursuit of Freedom and Justice there was a Hurricane
In times of national discontent and social injustice, music is one of the leading forms of rebellion
and storytelling. In 1975, Bob Dylan contributed to this rebellious storytelling narrative by creating
Hurricane a song about the wrongful imprisonment of middleweight fighter Rubin Hurricane
Carter. There is a common idea that the issues we face do not have the same magnitude the issues
our predecessors faced. By assuming this idea, the implications of similar issues are ignored. The
importance of this comparison relies on the magnitude of their influence. Their songs enlightened a
variety of people about the daily dealings of corruption within our nation and enforced the need to
fight for one another when the system proved treat the members of the society unfairly. The song
Freedom by BeyoncГ© Knowles Carter created in 2016 discusses current struggles that African
Americans are facing by being reduced to stereotypes that prevent unity and fairness and even
includes a verse performed by rapper Kendrick Lamar specifying instances of racial tension that
have affected him. Though both songs are written about wrongful imprisonment the purpose of
their songs, the intended audience, and the use of expression differ. The contrast between the songs
only elevate the notion that no two issues are exactly alike. After each song was created the
awareness of wrongful imprisonment has accounted to the fight for justice

Medicare Remittance Advice Log Reflection
As a Revenue Cycle Coordinator, I am responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating
activities to monitor and report the revenue that is received for the hospital. In the 3rd quarter, I
noticed that there was an increase of volume of remittance advice remark code #M39 on
Medicare remittance advice log. Not only did I notice that there was an increase of volume of
remittance, but also that 75% of the denied claims showed the code 93798 was used. To rectify the
issues I suggest that the doctors get educated with the ICD/CPT codes and get educated on the new
LCD policies. The coders themselves need to keep updated with any changes that were made in
coding and reimbursement policies. An important part of avoiding errors is communication

THE ACCOUNTING REVIEW Vol. 77 Supplement 2002 pp. 175 202 Evidence from Auditors
about Managers and Auditors Earnings Management Decisions Mark W. Nelson John A. Elliott
Cornell University Robin L. Tarpley The George Washington University ABSTRACT: This paper
reports analyses of data obtained using a п¬Ѓeld based questionnaire in which 253 auditors from
one Big 5 firm recalled and described 515 specific experiences they had with clients who they
believe were attempting to manage earnings. This approach enables us to analyze separately
managers decisions about how to attempt earnings management and auditors decisions about
whether to prevent earnings management by requiring adjustment of the п¬Ѓnancial statements.

Auditors are required by GAAS to understand their clients incentives and to search for differences
between actual and expected performance that may indicate misstatements, so the auditors who
participated in our study were relatively well positioned to identify specific instances of earnings
management. Because respondents provided transaction level data about attempts covering a range
of п¬Ѓnancial accounting transactions, including attempts that are purely judgmental as well as
attempts that involve transaction structuring, these data allow us to examine how attempts are
affected by the precision of п¬Ѓnancial accounting standards2 and by other characteristics of
attempts. Unlike studies that focus on only postaudit information, we consider separately managers
decisions about how to attempt earnings management and auditors decisions about whether to
require adjustments.3 Thus, our study provides evidence about how a key feature of accounting
standards (precision of rules) and a key feature of the п¬Ѓnancial reporting process (activity of
external auditors) influence earnings management. Results of descriptive analyses indicate that
the earnings management attempts in our sample occurred in numerous accounting areas, including
revenue recognition, business combinations, intangibles, п¬Ѓxed assets, investments and leases, but
by far the most frequently identified attempts involve reserves. Respondents believe that
managers attempts were motivated

Existentialism In No Exit Essay
In his play, No Exit, Jean Paul Sartre examines basic themes of existentialism through three
characters. The first subject, Garcin, embraces existentialist ideas somewhat. The second character,
Inez, seems to fully understand ideas deemed existential. Estelle is the third person, and does not
seem to understand these ideas well, nor does she accept them when they are first presented to her.
One similarityamongst the three is that they all at some point seem to accept that they are in Hell
for a reason.
Garcin admittedly is in Hell because he was unkind and unfaithful to his wife. He however, does
not wish he had acted differently, for he says, amp;#8220;I tell you I regret nothing (p. 24). ; In this

states, amp;#8220; amp;#8230;I prefer to choose my hell amp;#8230;(p. 23), ; which advocates
the principle that everyone has a free will. She gives a good example of the concept that
mankind has a free will, and that few decisions are without any negative consequences when she
says, amp;#8220;So now we have to pay the reckoning (p. 17), ; and amp;#8220;
amp;#8230;people aren amp;#8217;t damned for nothing (p. 16). ; However, she violates the
existentialist idea that everything is coincidental, nothing really happens for a purpose, when she
persists in telling the others that they have been put there together for a purpose. An example of
this is when she says, amp;#8220;Mere Chance? amp;#8230; Nothing was left to chance. This
room was all set for us. ;
Estelle perhaps had the hardest time coming to terms with her transgressions and existentialist
ideas. She is in hell because she committed adultery, from which she birthed and killed her
unwanted daughter, driving her lover to commit suicide himself. However, at some points, she
almost refuses to believe that she is in hell, like when she says, amp;#8220;That amp;#8217;s just
it. I haven amp;#8217;t a notion, not the foggiest. In fact, I amp;#8217;m

Ways in which Lifelong Learning can Contribute towards the...
Introduction:
In this essay, ways in which lifelong learning can contribute towards the new global culture and
new knowledge society, facts about lifelong learning and how the educator deals with the learners
will be discussed.
What is learning?
Learning is defined as obtaining a new ability or knowledge. For example: leaning to ride a bike,
learning to walk, learning a new language, and so on.
What is lifelong learning?
According to the English dictionary, lifelong learning is the use of both formal and informal
learning opportunities throughout people s lives in order to foster the continuous development and
improvement of the knowledge and skills needed for employment and personal fulfilment.
This means that lifelong learning is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more disciplinary way to handle a disruptive student would be to keep a list of all the student s
transgressions and then discuss these transgressions with their parents. This forms a dialogue with
the parents so that they can find out what the reason is for their child s disruptive behaviour and
therefore being able to come up with a solution to this issue.
You have to get to the roots of why each individual is acting in such a way. Usually they are
searching for attention must find a way to make sure the student can get attention for positive
behaviour. Poor behaviour should get either no attention or the kind of attention that is so negative
the student won t want it. Brad, Compton, CA
Dealing with exceptional learners (outstanding):
An exceptional learner is defined as a student with both gifts and a learning disability. This means
that the learner is either handicapped, autistic, retarded, or has some other kind of disability that
requires them to be treated and taught differently.
A school or organization is required by the law to make an effort to maintain equality in educational
opportunities and admission. Legislation in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 forbids
discrimination on the basis of physical/sensory handicap or mental retardation.
When dealing with exceptional learners, it is imperative that the lecturer has the appropriate
educational course that would suit an

Response Bias
There are multiple types of survey methods utilized in research. Three of the main survey methods
include interviews, electronic surveys, and written surveys. In interviews, the assessor works
directly with the respondent to obtain responses to the survey. Utilizing interviews allow
researchers to obtain comprehensive and thorough responses. Moreover, the interviewer is able to
follow up on certain responses if more information is needed. Despite these benefits, interviews
have some potential disadvantages. It is difficult to obtain a representative sample of a population
willing to participate in an interview. Additionally, this type of survey is often costly in time and
money. Furthermore, there is potential for interviewer bias to affect... Show more content on

There are several types of response biases that can impact the outcome of a study. Social
desirability bias is a type of response bias that occurs when an individual s response is chosen
because of their desire to look favorable, rather than their true feelings (Fisher, 1993). One way to
decrease the effects of the social desirability bias is to use electronic surveys; individuals are
more likely to respond honestly to electronic surveys due to their anonymity (Chamberlain,
2016). Another type of bias that can alter the results of a study is known as acquiescent response
bias. Acquiescence bias, also known as yea saying, refers to the tendency of respondents to
agree to questions regardless of the content (Wright, 1975). The use of both negative and
positive questions reduces the likelihood of this bias occurring (Wright, 1975). Nonresponse bias
is another type of bias that may occur when using a survey. This type of bias occurs when the
responses from the individuals who respond to the survey differ from those who did not respond
(Armstrong Overton, 1977). Nonresponse bias often occurs in written surveys, particularly in mail
surveys (Armstrong Overton, 1977). In addition, using questions that favor one response or
another can cause a response bias to occur. Researchers can avoid leading questions by using
neutral words to formulate their survey. Anytime response bias occurs the validity of the results
may be compromised (Chamberlain, 2016). It is imperative researchers utilize procedures to check
for response bias to avoid making false conclusions based on a systematic response bias rather than

Destruction Of Rwanda
Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up
between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the
people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as
an entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following
World War I. Rwandais located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and
surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3).
Roughly 85% of Rwanda s population consists of Hutus and the remaining 15% Tutsi, with a small
population of Twa, a Pygmy group who were the original inhabitants of Rwanda [The Rwandan
Genocide, 2009]. Though the Tutsis are thought to have migrated into the Rwandan and Burundi
area from the southern highlands of Ethiopia and the Hutus are characterized as earlier inhabitants

Relationships in the 1800 s are very different from a typical relationship in the present day. In the

It seems that for most of Nora s life she s been under the thumb of a man. Another noticeable
difference that bounces off equality is the inability of Nora to work or do as she pleased. In a
typical relationship now, it is expected that both the male and female work to provide for their
family, as today s society has adapted to allowing the male to not feel a constant pressure to provide
as the responsibility is shared. In the present, research shows that more and more men are becoming
stay at home husbands, working from home and raising their children at the same time. A man that
stayed at home whilst the woman worked was unheard of during the time of Nora s and Torvalds

the female took care of all the home keeping, whilst the male worked to support the family.

Regulation of Violent Video Games
Issue: Video games are the primary source of entertainment for children nowadays. Be it in form
of Wii Games, Nintendo or Xbox; children nowadays seems to be practically smitten with video
games. It was also shown as evidence in some cases that the influence of such games is so huge
that few children start speaking and acting like characters in the video games. Many video
games, dating back to 1976 s Death Race, contain some or other aspect of violence, such as
killing the bad person, driving dangerous vehicle etc. With advancement in graphic technology
including software, modern computers and other game related technology, the way in which such
violence and other extreme sports are being depicted has become more vivid and realistic.
Further, as more and more children are getting exposed violent games, there is a growing
awareness among both parents and the government for regulation of such games. Also, apart from
the fact that people were, in general, becoming more aware and conscious, numerous studies were
also being done to find connection between violent video games and the rate at which violence and
crime is growing. Some of these studies showed existence of a positive correlation. Incidents such
as the massacre at Columbine High School in 1999 heightened concerns of a potential connection
between video games and violent actions. Many independent social workers including politicians
were continuously trying to evoke public response towards sale of such violent video

Mary Shelly Influence On Frankenstein
It s been said that writers write about what they know, that they draw on life experiences, that the
people around them shape the main characters, and sometimes the characters even reflect the author

there are many different relationships shown within the story, and there are relationships that have
contributed to the shape of the story as well. There are many parallels between the feminist theory,
and the making of Frankenstein, which can be largely looked at along with Mary Shelly s
relationship with her parents. More parallels reside in how she acted when the book was being
published which was largely reflected in the character of Victor, and once again in Victor s
relationship with his creation. This can all lead back to the feminist theory and the gendered

2.Immediately cease the deviation to production process and go back to jidoka and the andon pull
standards, which would mean stopping production when defective seats are encountered.
3.Go back to the traditional production process, but have in stock a small buffer of seat inventory to
call on when defective seats are encountered on the line. So let s evaluate these alternatives. By
implementing the first solution, to continue the attempt to solve the problem off the line, the
benefits are no stoppage to the production process, and therefore, a potential cost savings. However,
this benefit is short term. The downsides are numerous and most likely more costly in the long run.
Until the problem is solved run ratios will continue to be low, defects will be high, and the
overflow lot will continue to grow excessive waste will continue to happen. In addition, customer
value will continue to be threatened. Also, by stopping the production line time and time again to
deal with the defective seat, the flow of the production line will still be disrupted. And, since this
alternative might not utilize those employees that are closest to the production line, there is a large
risk that the root cause of the problem will never be uncovered. TPS philosophy stands by the fact
that the employees are their greatest asset, as they have been trained to get the root of the problem.

the cash gained as a result of the company s operations activities, investing or financing activities. A
cash flow statement of a healthy company would show that the density of cash entrance comes
from its operating activities. The net entrance or exist of cash should be equal to the difference

Bluest Eye Themes
The novel The Bluest Eye written by Toni Morrison and The novel Never Let Me Go written by
Kazuo Ishiguro are two completely different novels written during different times and for different
purposes. Both novels do not relate to a story, but they relate to the theme which is the theme of
sexual maturity while using a distinctive form of characterization and diction to convey their
interpretation of sexual maturity. The concept is identical, yet the authors unique word choice and
writing style gives the theme a different tone.
The theme of sexual maturity is conveyed through both novels as a subtext or sub theme. The
main characters go through a sexual awaking during their pre teens as if any child would,
creating a sense of realism and authenticity. Kathy goes through her sexual awaking phases as her
feelings grow from a boy that picked her curiosity, growing fond of him as they opened up to each
other. While for Pecola Breedlove her sexual awaking phases was happening when a full grown
man sexually assaulted her. The reasoning behind the theme was to show how girls around this age
try to figure out who they are, who they want to become and indulge in self thinking to find their
own identity.
Although, their difference starts to appear as the novel starts to express the theme. Ishigor s tone is
sweet and innocent filled with blissful ignorance and joy. Their sexual maturity is as innocent as it
can be. As any girl, as they mature, they do not know what to do with her

Version Control Strategy
When developing several systems, several versions of the same program are created. This can
happen for many different reasons. Some reasons can be a version for each saving point, a version
for large or miniscule changes, or a version created after each testing. Whatever the reason maybe,
controlling and managing these versions can be frustrating.
Eclipse has an additional system called Eclipse Git Team Provider (Egit). This program is
included in the package when downloading any of the Eclipse IDE s. This program is a version
control program.
A version control is a system of recording changes of files or set of files over a certain period of
time. This gives us the ability to recall the information more efficiently. Version control can be
performed manually and automatically. Eclipse EGit will save at certain times throughout the
development. Having a log of save versions lets us revert to a specific point in

Bastogne Battle Analysis
Terrain and weather played a huge effect in decision making and the outcome of the battle. As the
allied forces were advancing towards the Germans their defensive lines and supply lines were
going thin. Generals of the allied did not expect the Ardennes forest would be the area that the
Germans attack. They thought that it would be very difficult for the Germans to get their tanks and
artillery through the forest. So they would find a better area to utilize their tanks. While later Patton
would use his tanks to turn the tide of the battle at Bastogne with superior position and tactics.

  • 2. The Emotional Scene In Act IV Scene IV, By William... Many seem to see Act IV Scene IV as lighthearted and simple or even boring, but this scene is a truly actually very complex scene due to some and carries some dark undertones. The spring setting directly contrasts thewith tense discussions and dark themes of death and decay. This comes to a head when Polixenes reveals himself, sentencing the Old Shepard to death, and Perditato be horribly disfigured. Throughout the scene, Polixenes actually seems like a mirror for Leontes s actions in the first three acts. Overall, this scene is definitely more than meets the eye. Act IV Scene IV, also known as the pastoral scene, opens with Florizel and Perdita, two young lovers, talking. Florizel is excited for the sheep shearing festival they will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This entire speech goes against the tone of the scene, and of the last two acts in general. The king, it seems, has taken a page right out of Leontes book; in a fit of rage, he sentences several people to cruel fates. Autolycus takes this theme of death to the extreme when he tries to scam the Old Shepherd and the Clown. He mentions how the Clown will allegedly be flayed and tortured in other horrible ways. This scares the Shepherd and Clown so much that they gladly pay the thief to take them to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. History of the Philippine Agriculture Philippine Agriculture over the Years: Performance, Policies and Pitfalls 1 Cielito F. Habito and Roehlano M. Briones 2 Introduction Although many still think of the Philippines as an agricultural economy, strictly speaking, it is not. Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one fifth (20 percent) of the economy s aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of agriculture in the GDP had fallen below one third, and by 1981, the sector s share had decreased to only 23 percent. Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum during the period 1981 2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same period. While agriculture output was largely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last section identifies the pitfalls that have hampered investments in the sector and stifled growth in the agribusiness industry, and ends with a general indication of the needed interventions to overcome the sector s current hurdles. Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and agricultural exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But by the 1980s and 1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region (Figures 3b and 3c). This came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically through the decades (Figure 4). Moreover, the sector s growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s, especially with the periodic occurrence of the El NiГ±o phenomenon that had appreciable impact on weather patterns and, consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual growth in GVA of major agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that growth rates of all commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over time. Furthermore, growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that production has not been able to keep up with increasing population. Erratic and decelerating growth over the past two decades is a major concern, as agriculture continues to employ a large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Enzymes Enzymes Enzymes are catalysts. Most are proteins. (A few ribonucleoprotein enzymes have been discovered and, for some of these, the catalytic activity is in the RNA part rather than the protein part. Link to discussion of these ribozymes.) Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so, they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. Most of these interactions are weak and especially so if the atoms involved are farther than about one angstrom from each other. So successful binding of enzyme and substrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the structure of malonic acid allows it to bind to the same site on the enzyme (b). But there is no oxidation so no speedy release of products. The inhibition is called competitive because if you increase the ratio of succinic to malonic acid in the mixture, you will gradually restore the rate of catalysis. At a 50:1 ratio, the two molecules compete on roughly equal terms for the binding (=catalytic) site on the enzyme. Factors Affecting Enzyme Action [IMAGE]The activity of enzymes is strongly affected by changes in pH and temperature. Each enzyme works best at a certain pH (left graph) and temperature (right graph), its activity decreasing at values above and below that point. This is not surprising considering the importance of * tertiary structure (i.e. shape) in enzyme function and * noncovalent forces, e.g., ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds, in determining that shape. Examples: * the protease pepsin works best as a pH of 1 2 (found in the stomach) while * the protease trypsin is inactive at such a low pH but very active at a pH of 8 (found in the small intestine as the bicarbonate of the pancreatic fluid neutralizes the arriving stomach contents). [ Discussion] Changes in pH alter the state of ionization of charged amino acids (e.g., Asp, Lys) that may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Case Of A Correctional Officer Essay They went further on to inform us that only a pretrial would be taking place, since a new information being submitted by a correctional officer was to be debated as to whether it was substantial enough to be admitted as evidence. Moreover, because we arrived earlier than the original time for the Riker s island pretrial, we witnessed a brief trail which to me wasn t informative because very little could be heard from what the judge, prosecutorand a different defense attorney were discussing. Since I could retain very little information from that trial, I took a quick glance at the interior structure of the court room. To accurately present the surroundings of the court room without interrupting the ongoing trail, I imagined myself standing at the door we entered through to the room. With my back facing the door, I pictured the room as having seats arranged much like how churches have long chairs that could occupy a number of individuals, a long aisle that separated the seating into sections of right and left with the male and female prosecutors of the cases chairs and computers in front of the seats on my right and the defense attorneys with their clients on the left. The seating sections for observers had ropes in front of them, separating them from where the prosecutors, lawyers, defendants, judge, security and the juror were seated. Both the right and left seats had the first roll of seats cleared by the security with have no sitting on them, a phenomenon that I still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Freedom Rides Imagine how it would feel if you were not allowed to go into the same bathroom as everyone else, if you were told to sit in a cut off section of a restaurant, or if you were made to sit on the back of a public bus. African Americans had to endure that way of life majority of the 20th century. They did not get the same equal rights as any other human beings in America(Lifson). Because of the mistreatment, African Americans began to take a stand and speak out on the injustices they face everyday just because of the color of their skin, and it began a powerful movement. • 12. The Contributions Of John Stuart Mill John Stuart Mill was a British philosopher who was born on May 20, 1806 in London, England, to Harriet Burrow and James Mill, a noted economist, philosopher and historian. James Mill was an educated man who was heavily involved in an early 19th century movement called philosophic radicalism, a school of thought also known as Utilitarianism, which highlighted the demand for a scientific foundation for philosophy, as well as a humanist approach to economics politics. It was this foundation from which James Millurged and advanced his eldest son s education from a very early age. John Stuart studied Greek at age three and Latin at eight, and he was asked to recite everything he had learned to his father every day. John Stuart also studied mathematics and science for his personal enjoyment and would engage in long discussions with his father about histories and biographies that he had read. It is interesting to note that John Stuart was also empowered with the responsible for educating his eight younger siblings. His childhood comprised of a strict environment of learning, teachings and tutoring, however, John Stuart felt that he was emotionally compromised by his father s educational plan. • 15. Foundations Of The Building Transfer FOUNDATIONS The foundations of the building transfer the weight of the building to the ground. While foundation is really a general word, normally, every building has many individual foundations, commonly called footings. Usually each column of the building will have its individual footing. Since the weight of the building rests on the land (or rock), engineers have to study the properties of the soil very carefully to ensure it can carry the loads imposed because of the building. It is common for engineers to determine the safe bearing capacity of your soil after such study. Because the name suggests, this is the amount of weight per unit area your soil can bear. For instance, the safe bearing capacity(SBC) for a location could be 20 T/m2, or perhaps tonnes per square metre. That capacity also changes at different depths of soil. In normal, the deeper one digs, the greater the SBC, unless there are pockets of weak soil in the earth. To properly support a building, the soil must become very firm and strong. It is common for the soil near the top of earth to be loose along with weak. If a building is rested within this soil, it will sink in the earth like a ship in water. Building contractors will commonly dig until they reach quite firm, strong, soil that can not be dug up easily before building a foundation. To study the properties of the soil before designing foundations, engineers will request a soil investigation to be achieved. A soil investigation engineer will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An increase in output prices, such as rise in wage rates or the cost of raw materials, increases firm s costs. With higher costs, firms are less able to make profit. Some firms exit the market and, as a result, aggregate supply is less and shifts to the left. The macroeconomic equilibrium changes, with input prices push up inflation across the economy. On one hand, it could be due to the time difference. His reaction to the Red Summer in If We Must Die comes from a place of deep emotion. His mentality to challenge the racial situation spread through the whole community, prompting numerous others to speak out collectively with him. McKay inspired a class to emerge with radical ideals not previously prominent. On the other hand, the emotion that is shown in his writing could express his change of opinion from outcry and anger to hopeless and depressed. Between 1919 and 1920, McKay was exposed to the reality of the racial situation that opposed his beliefs and core mission. When his vision did not come to fruition, he realized the problem was deeply engrained and not easily solved. Using this knowledge, his later work, The Lynching calls for self motivation and recognition of the problem to face adversity. • 30. Response Bias There are multiple types of survey methods utilized in research. Three of the main survey methods include interviews, electronic surveys, and written surveys. In interviews, the assessor works directly with the respondent to obtain responses to the survey. Utilizing interviews allow researchers to obtain comprehensive and thorough responses. Moreover, the interviewer is able to follow up on certain responses if more information is needed. Despite these benefits, interviews have some potential disadvantages. Social desirability bias is a type of response bias that occurs when an individual s response is chosen because of their desire to look favorable, rather than their true feelings (Fisher, 1993). One way to decrease the effects of the social desirability bias is to use electronic surveys; individuals are more likely to respond honestly to electronic surveys due to their anonymity (Chamberlain, 2016). Another type of bias that can alter the results of a study is known as acquiescent response bias. Acquiescence bias, also known as yea saying, refers to the tendency of respondents to agree to questions regardless of the content (Wright, 1975). The use of both negative and positive questions reduces the likelihood of this bias occurring (Wright, 1975). Nonresponse bias is another type of bias that may occur when using a survey. This type of bias occurs when the responses from the individuals who respond to the survey differ from those who did not respond (Armstrong Overton, 1977). Nonresponse bias often occurs in written surveys, particularly in mail surveys (Armstrong Overton, 1977). In addition, using questions that favor one response or another can cause a response bias to occur. Researchers can avoid leading questions by using neutral words to formulate their survey. Anytime response bias occurs the validity of the results may be compromised (Chamberlain, 2016). It is imperative researchers utilize procedures to check for response bias to avoid making false conclusions based on a systematic response bias rather than the hypothesized ... Bluest Eye Themes The novel The Bluest Eye written by Toni Morrison and The novel Never Let Me Go written by Kazuo Ishiguro are two completely different novels written during different times and for different purposes. Both novels do not relate to a story, but they relate to the theme which is the theme of sexual maturity while using a distinctive form of characterization and diction to convey their interpretation of sexual maturity. The concept is identical, yet the authors unique word choice and writing style gives the theme a different tone. The theme of sexual maturity is conveyed through both novels as a subtext or sub theme. The main characters go through a sexual awaking during their pre teens as if any child would, creating a sense of realism and authenticity. Kathy goes through her sexual awaking phases as her feelings grow from a boy that picked her curiosity, growing fond of him as they opened up to each other. While for Pecola Breedlove her sexual awaking phases was happening when a full grown man sexually assaulted her. The reasoning behind the theme was to show how girls around this age try to figure out who they are, who they want to become and indulge in self thinking to find their own identity.
