Essay On Flowers
Writing an essay on the topic of flowers might seem like a straightforward task at first glance,
given the beauty and variety that flowers offer. However, delving into the intricacies of the
subject reveals a unique set of challenges.
To begin with, the sheer diversity of flowers poses a challenge in itself. From the delicate petals
of a rose to the vibrant hues of a sunflower, each flower has its own characteristics, symbolism,
and cultural significance. Capturing this richness in words requires not only a good command of
language but also an appreciation for the nuances of botanical beauty.
Furthermore, the essay on flowers may demand a balance between scientific precision and poetic
expression. Describing the anatomy of a flower, its reproductive mechanisms, and the ecological
roles it plays involves navigating through the complex language of biology. Simultaneously,
conveying the emotional impact and aesthetic pleasure that flowers bring to our lives requires a
touch of artistry in expression.
The challenge intensifies when considering the cultural and symbolic dimensions of flowers.
Different cultures attach various meanings and sentiments to specific flowers, adding layers of
complexity to the essay. Addressing these cultural aspects demands research and a nuanced
understanding to avoid oversimplification or misrepresentation.
Crafting an engaging and insightful essay on flowers also involves avoiding clichГ©s and
generic descriptions. Striking a balance between originality and convention can be a delicate
task, as it's easy to fall into well-worn tropes when writing about such a universally appreciated
topic.
In conclusion, while the topic of flowers may seem simple and pleasant on the surface, the
process of writing an essay on this subject unveils a range of challenges. It requires a harmonious
blend of scientific knowledge, cultural awareness, and literary finesse. Successfully navigating
these challenges can result in an essay that not only informs but also inspires. For those seeking
assistance in tackling such writing challenges, various resources are available, including platforms

A Classroom At An American Public School
A typical classroom in an American public school holds a group of students with a
myriad of diverse learning needs. Each class is likely to consist of some visual
learners, some auditory learners, and some hands on learners. Some students may
work best in groups, while others work best independently. Some students may do
well with mathematics and logic but poorly with visual spatial skills, or any
combination of the multiple intelligences. It seems to be common knowledge among
teachers that these needs must be met, and in turn teachers write and teach a wide
variety of lessons to accommodate all of their students, and there are a wide variety
of resources available to teachers to help them do so. It is important to note, however,
that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether these students are spending a small portion of the day or the entire day in
the classroom, teachers should take care to address the needs of these students as best
they can. While there is always room for improvement with how these students are
included in the class, the American public school system has come a long way. In
order to best understand inclusion of students with significant learning needs in a
public school classroom and the progress that has been made, it is important to have a
solid understanding of the history of public education in the United States, and the
progress that has been made.
The history of public education in America starts with the Puritans in the 1600s in
New England. At this time, the primary goal of education was to teach children to
read and understand the Bible in order to ward off Satan. The first act that mandated
education was the Massachusetts Act of 1642 that required parents to be sure that
their children knew the principles of religion and the capital laws of the
commonwealth (Matzat, 2009). A notable point about this act is that it did not really
address school at all, only stating that parents were responsible for the education of
their children. The idea behind this was that if all citizens understood laws and
scripture, they would in turn abide by those laws. In 1647, the Old Deluder Satan
Act was established, creating the foundation of public education as we know it today
(Matzat, 2009). This act required
The Observation Of Elephants
What species performs burials, has the ability to cry, and form many complex
relationships throughout their lives? Elephants. Since many individuals might have
guessed humans or primates first, this one question shows the complexity of this
species. Transition This paper tries to answer one main question: How does elephant
behavior, both in captive and wild settings, provide data that can lead to evidence
based practices for building captive enclosures, daily activities, and help with
conservation practices, both in captivity and in the wild. For this discussion, I am
going to focus on the family, Elephantidae, as a whole. Though some might argue that
the genus Loxodonta (African) and Maximus (Asian) should be analyzed separately, I
find the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is hard to create and provide hard evidence to support this ideal when there is not a
linguistic way to communicate between humans and other species. For the purposes
of this discussion I will use Breed and Moore s definition: Cognition is the ability of
an animal to separate itself from the moment in which it is living and to contemplate
the past, predict the future, and act accordingly (2016). Cognition experiments on
elephants did not begin until the late 1950 s, starting with Rensch s study on memory.
Since than scientist s have tested/ studied problem solving, rituals, emotions,
deception, casual reasoning, tool making, and tool use within elephants with many
having positive results (Plotnik et al., 2010). One aspect of cognition that has been
tested in many primates in the recent years is the mirror self recognition test; this is
considered the basic level of cognition. Plotnik and colleagues completed this test
with three female elephants at the Bronx Zoo (2010). This test involves three stages,
where each shows a level of recognition. Though none of the elephants passed the
mark part of the test, they showed many other characteristics that indicated self
recognition (that was in other species like chimpanzees and bottle nose dolphins).
However, the discrepancy could be due to the way elephants identify one another:
through touch, sounds, and smell, which a mirror cannot replicate (Plotnik et

Storyboard A With regards to the evaluation of the first storyboard, I will be taking
into consideration the 10 Usability Heuristics. I will be going into each one of them
and evaluating the storyboard accordingly. Visibility of system status This heuristic
takes into consideration how the system alerts and informs the user about the
current activity that is being carried out by system within an acceptable time frame.
I believe that our storyboard conforms to this heuristic in that fact that at the top of
the window it tells the user of the system what page they are currently on. I believe
that the buttons and the text boxes with the fact that they also instruct the user what
to do in real time fall under this category. However if I was going to improve on the
design we could have colour coded the text boxes so they change... Show more

In our system we have adopted and applied this heuristic as when an error message
appears it has a constructive message that alerts the user as to how they can fix the
error by indicating the problem and its location. E.g when a user enters a username
that doesn t follow the format of the username then an error message appears stating
what went wrong and where. Help and Documentation This heuristic covers the need
for simple yet informative documentation, that way when the user is stuck they have
a guide that will inform them on what they have to do. Our system has been
constructed in such a manner that it is straight forward, so there is no requirement
for help and documentation to be created. However if I was going to make an
improvement to our system then I would create such documentation that way it
would clear up any ambiguity if the user does get stuck on a specific function of the
system. Evaluation of Storyboard

ACC was among the first Indian companies to adopt automation of information
technology. We started computerizing our systems as early as 1968 a commitment to
progress through the harnessing of relevant available technologies, a practice that
continues even today.

ACC s Tikaria plant engages nearly 4,000 trucks for this exercise. Due to the speed
initiative the tonnage per truck has increased increasing productivity and is time

ACC has also deployed Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) and Global

keeping in constant contact with drivers.
Inward and outward transportation forms a significant share of ACC s overall costs
and the Speed initiative has allowed about 5% saving in costs. With 30 million
tonnes cement moved across the country by various ACC plants which engage about
12,000 heavy duty vehicles the savings from this initiative can be huge when

Anthill A paper authored by Montresor (2001) outlines a new approach, aptly
christened Anthill, for designing peer to peer (P2P) applications based on
comparisons to ant colonies. The paper proposes a framework to assist with the
development of fresh protocols for P2P methodologies. The author considers how
there are issues that typically apply to P2P projects such as security and routing for
which conventional algorithm techniques for resolving these issues are deemed
inappropriate. Therefore Anthill is proposed as a framework to support individuals in
the investigation and design of innovative P2P algorithms. The Anthill project was
developed using parallels drawn between P2P systems and colonies of ants. Anthill

This means hosting a file allowing a theoretically limitless number of download
users is less expensive as this technique apportions the cost of upload across these
users. The paper goes on at length to explain how BitTorrent works in detail with
Cohen scrutinising methods to achieve successful yet fair to all, downloads. Cohen
discusses how researchers have previously attempted to find realistic and fair
techniques to do this. One strategy for fair apportioning of effort is to ensure each
peer s download rate is proportional to their upload rate. However there can be
issues with incomplete downloads because some clients may terminate downloading
once they have transferred the file. A discussion of the technical aspects of
BitTorrent and issues is given; this includes algorithms and strategies, to resolve
specific problems. An example cited is choking, which is when peers disallow
downloading from themselves and for which BitTorrent includes choking algorithms
which try to promote parento efficiency in an attempt to resolve this. Cohen
concludes that BitTorrent is now widely deployed but this article does cover many
issues with the fairness of the download effort and incomplete downloading as well
as relating in detail, solutions and algorithms that can resolve these issues. Newscast

Music and Race Essay
Although artists do not create certain music to cure diseases or to make scientific
or technological discoveries, music is one thing society can never live without. To
both artists and their listeners, music provides an indispensible beauty that helps
fulfill lives, and connect to nature. Music expresses the human condition in the
purest way and affects everyone at a personal level. Plato, a well known classical
Greek philosopher once said, If you want to measure the spiritual depth of society,
make sure to mark its music. Generally performer collaborate songs to represent the
popular pop culture, and social issues, and wish for their society as well as their
current era. For instance, controversial issues such as sex, violence, racism... Show

The main theme of the blues was built upon racism in the surrounding. The music
expressed the bad treatment, and starvation that blacks received from the dominant
race. An example of the music is by Ma Rainey, who was one of the earliest
connections between the male country blues artists that roamed the backroads of
the South and their female equivalent; she made her professional debut in 1900 at
the age of l4 at the Springer Opera House in Columbus, Georgia. She was one of the
first to feature the blues on stage. Ma Rainey said from Chain Gang Blues :
Many days of sorrow, many nights of woe,
Many days of sorrow, many nights of woe,
And a ball and chain, everywhere I go.
Nowadays the blues revolve around the meaning of sadness but doesn t have a true
message of fighting for survival or deprivation of freedom. In the process of
searching for the modern day blues, it was discovered that the music is compiled by
mostly Caucasian artist compared to the past where it was conceived by blacks to
prompt their practices and beliefs.

Consumer s Decision Dilemma And Brand Loyalty
ABSTRACT
Consumer s decision dilemma and brand loyalty in a low involvement product
category by
Abhishek Rahul
Consumer s dilemma, caused by product similarity, choice and/or information
overload, and the presence of ambiguous information, can negatively affect
consumers decision making and thereby also companies profitability. The purpose of
this quantitative study was to
Investigate how the three variables (i.e. similarity, overload, Uncertainty) affect
consumer s decision postponement and brand loyalty, concerning low involvement
products. A conceptual framework based on consumer behavior and consumer
confusion literature, was utilized to form six hypotheses predicting the causality
between the different variables. After validating and adapting the space to data
gathered through a survey, regarding Indian Population purchasing habits of Biscuits,
2 standard multiple regressions revealed that one hypothesis was supported; overload
confusion proneness decreases brand loyalty in a low involvement product category.
All implications were then discussed from Practitioners and researchers points of
view, concluding with possible limitations and further research.

The Worst Royals Were Born
In the year of 1754 and 1755, the worst royals were born. Their childish and
ignorant behavior would soon spark the start of the French Revolution. On August
23, 1754, King Louis Auguste de France was born in the Palace of Versailles. He
was the third son of Louis, Grand Dauphin, and Duchess Maria Anna Victoria of
Bavaria. At a young age, Louis was forced to take on responsibility. As a shy child,
this was not the best decision for his guardians to make. Louis parents paid very
little attention to him, and instead to his older brother, soon to be king, Louis Duc
de Bourgogne. ( Louis XVI Biography) In the 60 s of the 18th century, Louis life
would turn upside down. In the year of 1761, Louis Duc de Bourgogne died. Then
on December 20, 1765, Louis father died of tuberculosis, a potentially serious
infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects the lungs. This tragedy gave Louis
Auguste the title Dauphin when he was only eleven. Even though Louis took the
deaths hard, his mother took it worse. Not recovering from their deaths, she
eventually died on March 13, 1767, of the same disease as her deceased husband.
Once his parents died, his mentors began to prepare him for the throne. He studied
more about religion, morality, and humanities, although; he excelled in Latin, history,
geography, and astronomy and became very fluent in both Italian and English. His
mentors also told him to develop a sense of austerity, to make his life a bit easier. As
a result, he became

We decided to meet there due to the limited time we had since he had summer
classes later on that day. Even though Mr. Rivera had a desk in his office, he set

not arrange an interview with any of them. Not finding anybody in Starkville I
called the counseling center at the University for Women in Columbus, MS only to
find out that both of the counselors there were already booked for our class. A
conversation about my project then started between a close friend of mine that goes
to CBU. I mentioned that I had not been able to find an available counselor to
interview. To my luck she mentioned that her professor from the previous semester
was a counselor. She gave me his contact
Agrippina s Role In Ancient Rome
The ancient world was a patriarchal society where women were considered
subordinate to men. Rarely were women independent or powerful in their own right.
Despite this oppression, several women fulfilled powerful roles; including Hatshepsut
a successful Egyptian monarch (1508 1458 BC), Cleopatra the last pharaohof the
Ptolemaic dynasty (69 30 BC) and the empress Agrippina the Younger (15 59 AD).
Agrippina gained remarkable influence as sister of Caligula, wife of Claudius and
mother of Nero; successive emperors of the Roman Principate. Agrippina s
unprecedented position of authority has resulted in her representation as an
overbearing mother obsessed with achieving imperial ambition through her son.
However interwoven with Agrippina s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Matrons were commonly infatuated with elevating their sons to the role of
princeps (Hurley et al 2008, p. 300) hence Agrippina was not alone in her ambition.
Instead, she was one of few willing to sacrifice everything; including her life.
Astrologers warned Agrippina that she would die by Nero s hand as emperor. She
replied, Let him slay so that he reign (Tacitus 109) demonstrating extreme
selflessness and fidelity. The day Nero succeeded to emperor, he provided the
password optima mater; the best of mothers (Suetonius 1979, p. 211) allowing
inference Nero and Agrippina s relationship was close rather than domineering. This
can be verified as Nero turned over all public and private affairs to Agrippina s
management, (Suetonius 1979, p. 211) which was uncommon and required
substantial trust. Agrippina did not misuse this authority, instead re established the
imperial family fortune (Ferrero, 2005). Modern historian Anthony Barrett suggests,
It is when Agrippina is judged by her achievements rather than her personality or
character that she demands admiration (Barrett 1996, p. xiii). Barrett considers the
monarchical system of imperial Rome, and how difficult it was for politically
ambitious women to succeed. He uses this knowledge to provide an objective,
reliable portrayal of a

Who Is The Best Way For You Grow Our Money More Than

When I m around 65 years old, I want to have the ability to quit working. I want,
like almost all Americans want, to be able to retire. Well, the trouble with that is
that I, and just about everyone else, probably won t have enough money to be able
to retire just from the saved income from our jobs and from social security. We ll
have to take the money we save from our earnings and try to make it grow. So the
problem then lies in finding the best way to invest our savings so that it grows, like
in this image, large enough, and crucially, safe enough, to be able to retire upon. I
think, that the best way to grow our money large and safe enough is called an index
fund. So today, I m going to explain what index fundsare, and why they re better than
our other investing options. Owning stocks in general is really pretty simple. In
fact, it s a lot like owning cows. You can spend all of your money on one cow that
looks perfect, but then there s a lot to worry about. For instance, you have to worry
about that cow dying to disease or falling in a ravine or getting struck by lightening
or getting lost. Or you can share an entire herd of cows with a few other investors.
Think about how much safer you are! The likelihood of losing a whole herd to
something is pretty small, and something really terrible would have to happen. How
does that relate to stocks? Well individual stock picking is like owning one cow,
while index funds are like owning the herd. And just like your cow could get

Upon turning on to the road in which all of Sitrin is on, it can be seen that Sitrin is

human behavior. The relation of some of these theories can be directly applied to
the Criminal Justice field. Theories focus on why some behavior develops, when and
where the development begins, who is affected by it and may be particularly more

This is especially true when it involves young people. Young people/persons are
quite easily influenced, and impressionable. It is a very critical and important time
in one s life, trapped somewhere between childhood and adulthood. It is a period of
extreme change, extreme choices, and big decisions. Lack of one s own identity,
confusion, and the need and desire to belong, or to fit in somewhere, can and often
does provoke irrational thought. The inability or difficulty to become accepted by
one s peers gives way to potentially bad choices. This can be especially difficult for
certain cultural, ethnic, and societal groups. For example, inner city youth
(regardless of race) who grow up in areas with higher crime rates and/or criminal
activity, or lower income families (many with only one parental figure) are by
default, at higher risk of exposure to criminal activity. They in essence, have little or
almost no chance of meeting or interacting with (or being influenced by) someone
from the suburbs, or the country (rural areas), where criminal activity is lower.
These inner city youths are more frequently exposed to crime (it is sometimes all
they see and know), and without positive influence, they are more susceptible to
adopt an identity relative and according to what they experience on a regular basis.
They believe that is the norm and in turn, they

The famous thinkers such as Voltaire, Montesquieu and Rousseau, have changed the
minds of not only peasants but also well educated ones. As of 1848 1849, in several
countries in Europe, revolutions have started. They embraced France, Germany, the
Austrian Empire and Italy. Never before Europe had seen such a sharpening struggle.
Although in different countries intensity of the struggle was not the same, different
events unfolded, but the one was undoubtedly clear: the revolution got pan European
scale.
In the German, Italy and Austrian Empire revolutions happened because the feudal
system prevented further success of capitalist development, while in France, the
situation was different. The revolution of 1848 in France was spawned by the
development of the internal contradictions of capitalism. In conclusion, age of
revolutions is a shining example of the struggle of humanity for liberty and ideology.
The causes of these revolutions in some cases were diverse in some not. These
revolutions left the mark in the world history and changed

My Class Of Third Grade Children
CHILD FACTORS Goal Perception For my class of third grade children I believe
that their ability of goal perception and acceptance will vary greatly. For the eight
students who are relatively free of learning disabilities and behavioral problems will
be able to self perceive and understand the goals at hand. They will not only be able
to comprehend the goals, but they will most likely Bye Into the goal resulting in him

Sense of Autonomy and Autonomy Regulation I can predict a variety of levels in
respect to a Sense of Autonomy and Autonomy Regulation for my students. For
the eight children with the potential of being compliant and well behaved in my
classroom are more likely to have a healthy sense of autonomy and accept the
power sharing needed to accomplish the goal. We will also have the ideal
relationship for mutual regulation, with little effort. For the majority of the
children, they will have a less sense of healthy autonomy. These children will
connive for equal power shared between him/her and myself. Time will be wasted
here and more effort will be needed to achieve a zero sum game. Lastly, the group
of children with behavioral issues will most likely have an unhealthy sense of
autonomy and I will fail to accomplish my goals with them. I can estimate that power
demands will be high for this group of children in respect to a sense of autonomy and
autonomy regulation.
Self Regulation and Conscience The age of the children in my third grade
classroom varies from young eight year olds to upper ten year old children. Based
off of their ages I can estimate that the older ones will have a more developmentally
advanced form of self regulation. My older students will have the ability to regulate
their fine and

The Pros And Cons Of Sexism In Sports
Picture this: A mother is outside, kicking a soccer ball around with her daughter,
while her son is shooting baskets out of the corner of her eye. Both children start
discussing wanting to become professional, star athletes when they re older,
making a ton of money. Little do they know, this large salary dream will most
likely only become true of one of them. Imagine athletes as medals. Society has
placed women, much like this little girl, at a silver, and men, like the older boy, at
gold. No matter how good the women get or how much progress they make, they are
always held back from achieving the same level as the men, stuck once again at silver.
The definition of sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of
sex. Sadly, many women face this everyday when trying to succeed as an athlete. An
example of this would be a women getting paid less than a man or getting worse
coaching than he, even when playing the same sport.
Although some movements are being made to try and help this issue, such as Title
IX, stating that no gender should be discluded from any education program or
activity, helping sexism in youth, high school, and college sports, it is not being
enforced strongly, not making many changes to some of the still standing issues in
the sports world today. The problem can start as young as youth sports and continue
all the way up to the professional level.

Operational Management at QVC Network Shopping Channel Executive Summary
QVC is a large multinational corporation operating in five countries. They offer
customers a wide array of general merchandise. Their business model is based on
utilizing technology to deliver quality products, fulfillment and customer service.
QVC sells its merchandise on its own broadcast network, on the Internet, and

technology. QVC has a complex organizational structure This system poses several
risks to QVC, largely centered on loss of the transportation system and disruptions
in communication system. QVC could benefit from reducing its hubs and operating
from smaller number of hubs, using a less centralized strategy. Upward supply

Dangers Of Earthquakes
1. What are some of the dangers of having an earthquake in large cities? There are
many significant dangers of having earthquakes in large cities such as
Large amounts of people being at risk
Lots of large structures such as buildings
Set off landslides
Tsunamis
The devastation of the Earthquake can differ depending on the location and
environment of the country the Earthquake occurs. Countries that have fault lines
close to the ocean are more at risk of having large Tsunamis. These waves can
reach speeds of up to 500 kilometres per hour and cause massive devastation to
anything in their path (ABC 2017). Some places such as New Zealand are more
likely to have things such as landslides since the country has large amounts of hills
and countryside.
2. What are 2 ways to make building that survive earthquakes? You may include a
diagram to help you explain. 1. Buildings are designed to support the walls, roof
and all the stuff inside to keep them standing. Earthquakes present a lateral/sideways,
load to the building structure that is a bit more complicated to prepare for. One way
to make a simple structure more resistant to a quake is to tie the walls, floor, roof,
and foundations into a rigid box that holds together when shaken by a quake
(Imagination Station 2017)
2. Using materials that can bend without breaking helps make buildings more shock
absorbent. Materials such as steel being embedded into the walls can make a

short term mating strategies and female long term mating strategies. It will explore

reasons go above and beyond the general idea of physical attractiveness and love.

psychological mechanisms that women have used to select their mates over the past.

Darwin suggested that females preferred certain phenotypic traits as females could
gain direct benefit from these, for example, certain male characters are able to
provide resources or offspring and increase fecundity (Mota, 2010) .
When discussing female long term mating strategies, it has been identified that there
are certain preferences in which a female desire from a mate (Buss, 2008).
Preferences include, a preference for economic resources, a preference for
industriousness and ambition, a preference for a good physical appearance and
health, and also a preference for dependability and stability. Females prefer someone
they can invest in and someone that is willing to invest in them also. And they also
desire a mate that can physically protect them and their children and that is both
healthy and displays compatibility. There are preconditions as too why these
preferences have evolved, such as the idea that resources have been made more
defensible and accruable and are more controlled by men, and the idea that men
would have to be different between each other in their willingness to somewhat invest
their resources in both women and their children. Belsky et al (1991) discovered that
some men would rather invest in many women rather than one women and their
children as this would mean them

very influential to the nurturing of Mesoamerica and the Andean Regions. The
religious aspects of both the Aztecand the Incan civilizations were based on several
different deities. The Aztec empire had more than 128 gods and goddesses. The most
important of these gods is Tlaloc (Life god) and Huitzilopochtli (Sun god). These

According to Aditia Rinaldi Every end should be followed by great new beginning .
The ending of the Toltec and Chavin civilizations marked the new beginnings of the
Aztec and Incan cultures. The cultures of former civilizations in Mesoamerica
developed technology that aided in the creation of the Aztec and Incan civilizations.
The culture of these civilizations was also impacted by their location. The Aztecs
were built on cities next to lakes and plentiful water sources while the Incans were
founded on mountainous, rough soil. The soil type determined the number of crops
that could be grown and trade patterns. Another important aspect of Incan and Aztec
culture was social class structure. The class structure of the Aztecs started with
monarchs/religious leaders and ended on slaves with warriors, craftsmen, and traders
located in the middle. The Incan hierarchy was based on the lower class (poor
families) working for the upper class (monarch and government). Both class
structures had a majority of low class poor workers. The cultures of both Incan and
Aztec empire were greatly affected by civilizations before them, geographic location,
and social class structure. The Mesoamerica and the Andean regions would not have
been the same without the Aztecs and the Incan influence. Although they have some
similarities, they differ in religious rituals, political standings, and cultural
backgrounds. The

Classic CJD Creutzfeldt Jakob disease is a human prion disease. This disease is

In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the
environment and that as a result we should work to help the environment through
day to day and political actions. A parallel could be drawn to the idea of the Social
Contract, where people give up certain privileges and take on certain duties in order
to be effectively governed as a part of a greater society (Gough 2 3). Environmental
citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or using fossil fuels and take on
duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or politicians in
order to better the environment as a whole. Environmental Citizenship can be further
broken down into two rough categories: personal daily citizenship and large scale
political citizenship. Daily environmental citizenship refers to people following
environmentally just laws and performing environmentally conscious actions in daily
lives, such as recycling, eating food from environmentally friendly sources such as
homegrown gardens, using eco friendly transportation such electric cars or public
transportation, and other similar activities. Political environmental citizenship is
when people participate in large scale political processes such as voting, political
demonstrations (such as the March that I attended) or protests and even running for
political office. Of course,

Every year our community raises thousands of dollars for children and their
families, who need it to be able to fight medical issues. Duck week is a wonderful
opportunity for the community to rise together and strive for a shared cause. It is
honestly amazing to see how everyone in the community comes together to raise
so much money for children and their families who are in need of this money due
to medical expenses and procedures. I am glad that our community does this, and I
think it is one of the great things about Piedmont. To me, by raising money for
these families, it is a great way to unite the people of the community. We may not
be able to help everyone who has medical problems, but we can try to help as many
as we can. We can at least help a few people, and it can make a huge difference in

food. In addition, Among the types most often fed are herring, capelin, salmon,
mackerel, and occasionally others. Fish is always kept refrigerator and well iced to
help maintain the highest husbandry standards, (SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment

iced, not dry, and rotten. New batches of fish are tested via calorimeter to determine
exact levels of calories, fat, ash, protein, and moisture. This information aids our
veterinary staff and animal trainers in developing an appropriate diet for each animal,

inform people that each batch of food is tested to make
Difference Between Utilitarianism And Kant
Utilitarianism vs. Kant Through the readings we have done and in class, we have
discussed the moral status of many different actions using the guidelines of different
moral theories. I will be focusing on just two of the theories that we ve covered: the
Kantian perspective and the Utilitarian perspective. In this paper, I will present the
two perspectives and give my analysis of the differences between the ways in which
these two theories determine the moral status of an action. Utilitarianismis the ethical
theory that moralityshould be based on producing the most amount of happiness for
the most about of people as possible with our actions. Utilitarianism is made up of
three parts: consequentialism, hedonism, and impartiality. We must... Show more

In theory, this sounds great, but in my opinion it is extremely broad and fails to
acknowledge how ingrained selfishness is in human nature. Also, due to the
consequentialist component, intention does not necessarily help determine the
morality of an action: if two people bring food to an event and the first person
accidentally gives food poisoning to all of the attendees and the second person
intentionally gives food poisoning to all of the attendees, then their punishment
should be identical according to consequentialism because both of their actions led to
the same consequence.
Kant, however, believed that we should only be held accountable for what is within
our control once we make a choice, the results are beyond our control and we can
only be held accountable for our intent. I believe that the Kantians perspective on
intent is much more reasonable than the consequentialist perspective and it is more in
line with our current justice system. Involuntary manslaughter charges and the
insanity defense are both examples of how important intent is when it comes to
determining consequences for an action. In addition to this, Kant s principle of
humanity states that we must always treat a human being (yourself included) as an
Equatorial Guinea Research Paper
Equatorial Guinea is located in the arm pit of Africa and is the only African country
with Spanish as the official language. Bought from Portugal in the eighteenth century,
Equatorial Guinea became one of a select few countries that Spain colonized. (
Countries and their Cultures, n.d.). However, when the country became a burden
rather than an asset, Spain sought to find a buyer in the international system. Most
colonial powers cited how they refused to touch the Equatorial Guinea, which was
known for talk of the magical powers of the rulers; there are said to be regular witch
burnings. It is both sleepy and sinister... (Roberts, 2006. p.18). It was because of this

Winning five consecutive terms, Obiang stands accused of election fraud. It is safe to
assume that the 2016 election in April was no different; meaning the only way his
regime will end is upon his death. Under his leadership Equatorial Guinea has turned
from an authoritarian government to complete and total kleptocracy. Through all of
this, one thing that is undeniable is the role colonialism has played in Obiang s
continued grip on power and the continued asymmetrical relationship between
western powers and African governments. An article by Dr. Joy Alemazung in The
Journal of Pan African Studies, documents the aftereffects of colonialism and how the
economic, political, and social structure of the country continues to be compromised
by disproportional relationships with past colonizers (2010). Alemazung says the
foundation for failure was laid in Africa during colonialism and sustained through
colonial legacies with the accomplice of African elite leaders (2010, p. 62). Obiang
is, without a doubt, one of these elites that have benefitted from the colonial system,
but left his people behind as money is made. There is a great deal of responsibility
placed on these Western countries as their continued aid to these countries, even with
the knowledge of human rights violations, affects their economic development.
There are internal factors, such as greed and an overall lack of political knowledge
when it comes to these leaders, but objectively speaking at least fifty five percent of
the issues within countries like Equatorial Guinea are direct results of colonialism

the state agreed to dismiss a related charge of felonious assault and reduced the

Economic Growth And Its Implementation
Economics 160 Fall 2015
Term Paper 1
Author: Andrew Tannous
California State University Northridge
INTRODUCTION
According to capitalist ideals, free markets combined with a limited government will
result in growth, freedom, and a prosperous economy. The Mystery of Capital
outlines the importance of capitalism in economic prosperity, but Hernando DeSoto
explains that capitalism alone is not enough, we also need to look at something else
that allowed the West to prosper under capitalism. Richard McGregor, in The Party:
The Secret World of China s Communist Rulers illustrates Chinas graduated cherry
picking of capitalist practices that resulted in small economic successes, however the
Communist Chinese Party fears the delivery of freedom to their people. The Chinese
elite fear freedom because it could lead to the end of the dictatorship in China, and
end their rule. This fear cripples economic growth for China, and will not allow
capitalism to thrive in their economy. These two novels explain two core concepts in
understanding capitalism and its implementation. Hernando De Soto explores why
capitalism succeeds in the West and fails in underdeveloped countries. Richard
McGregor s novel The Party speaks to Communist China and other communist
counties that fail to produce economic growth. The core opposition that fuels the
differences between capitalism and communism is ultimately freedom and choice.
Capitalist governments are often democratic, protect private ownership, and
Child Labour In The 1800s Essay
Child Labor in the 1700s and 1800s was a definite form of abuse to children
because they were often severely underpaid, worked much longer hours than even
an adult should, and were often exposed to harsh and dangerous conditions.
Children were on average five times cheaper to employ then adults, and were
expected to work the same hours which, in mining communities, could mean 14
hour days (Britain , Great. Report on child labour, 1842. The British Library, The
British Library, 6 Feb. 2014, www.bl.uk/collection items/report on child labour

How Did Historians Contribute To The Civil Rights
Movement
The Civil Rights Movement is often thought to begin with a tired Rosa Parks
defiantly declining to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She paid
the price by going to jail. Her refusal sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which
civil rights historians have in the past credited with beginning the modern civil rights
movement. Others credit the Supreme Court s landmark decision in Brown v. Board
of Education with beginning the movement. Regardless of the event used as the
starting point of the moment, everyone can agree that it is an important period in
history. In the forty five years since the modern civil rights movement, several
historians have made significant contributions to the study of this era. These historians

Whites were afraid to be labeled as racially moderate, and typically had to join the
side of white supremacy for many reasons, among them the fact that class had
previously aligned African Americans and poorer whites in a fight against poverty,
Brown elevated racial status above class. Also, the decision made those in power in
the South exert their disproportionate political power to keep the state government
in their hands. Finally, some Southerners who normally would not care about race
were swayed by the fact that the federal government was trying to impose a
decision in education an arena typically reserved for state government. This made
the fight one of states rights versus federal decree. Klarman s argument claims that
this mobilization of white resistance in the South led to increased tension and
violence against African Americans. For example, the bitter protests in Birmingham
and Selma, along with the violence in the Black Belt areas of Lowndes County,
where police dogs, fire hoses and lynching were used came as a result of this
massive resistance movement. This violence, when media attention was paid to it,
converted northern whites to the civil rights cause by exposing the true evils of the
Jim Crow system. Civil rights leaders, such as Martin Luther King, played on that
knowledge and specifically targeted cities where the most powerful backlash would
occur, gaining them media air time and allowing the Northerners to

Mental Health And Mental Health
In the book Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on college campuses, authors
Arum and Roska (2011) discuss how college is academically adrift, denoting how
minor academic learning is in comparison to other facets and how academia is failing
its students (p. 30). One point the authors emphasize is that it is academic learning is
more crucial for students to show the value in their collegiate experience (p. 30). This
is in contrast with how universities focus on utilizing student engagement for
retention purposes, which the authors believe is not as pivotal (p. 31). This means
that to measure the success of college, we should not mention retention but what
students learn. While the authors make an interesting case, this view does not focus
on students holistically. Indeed, students go to college to learn, but students are more
than their academics. When students are seen as only learners and measured by that,
I believe this affects their mental healthnegatively. It causes them to only focus on
their academic achievements and how much they learned, instead of focusing on
themselves and their sanity. When a student s mental health is not at his or her best,
they cannot properly learn. For this reason, my paper will focus on students
advocating for their mental health as an important skill a college graduate should
have, with the main basis coming from my own personal experience. Additionally,
this paper will discuss how changing certain policies and practice areas can help
Honest Vino Case Summary
The report of Honest Vino s harvesters replacement frequency Summary This report
will examine why the company, Honest Vino, should replace the selected harvesters
every 15 years rather than every 10 years by Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) method.
Based on the Vineyard s and harvester s details, the Annual Equivalences (AE) of both
replacement frequencies were calculated and compared under the constant chain of
replacement assumption. However, the specific assumptions must be held in this
analysis. Methodology There are two options for the harvesters: replaced every 15
years or every 10 years. They are mutually exclusive investments having unequal lives
with replacement. In order to maximise the firm value, the method of AE was used
since the two projects have the same discount rate, and AE method converts the NPVs
of the projects into annualised values which can be compared under this situation.
The optimal option is the one with higher AE when evaluating... Show more content

Specifically, the calculative formula is: AE=NPV/{[1 1/(1+r)^n ]/r}. Additionally, the
calculation of NPV is based on the discounted cash flows. Compared with other DCF
methods, AE considers the time, the amount of value and the risk of the cash flows.
Other DCF methods are not appropriate for this situation. For example, the Benefit
Cost Ratio (BCR) method does not take the size of investment into account and does
not consider for replacement in investment. Another method is Internal Rate of
Return (IRR) method, which may have multiple IRRs or no IRR, and does not
consider magnitude of value. Therefore, AE is the most intuitionistic evaluation
method to value and compare mutually exclusive investments. It indicates the
investment s NPV in an annualised presentation, which takes into account timing,
magnitude and discount rate.
An Unacceptable Route For Real Success And Fulfillment
An Unacceptable Route to Real Success and Fulfillment We live in an era where
the name of the college an individual attended as well as the type of degree
received has the ability to land a job seeker on the door step of prestigious and
established organizations while, on the other hand, one s inability to prove his/her
academic prowess by presenting a college degree is often greeted by a closed door
and no prospects for employment. Has college education turned out to be the only
route to a successful career? Escalating college cost which adds to a fresh college

He dispels the assumption that blue collar jobs are for illiterate and unintelligent
individuals but rather that a significant amount of teaching and learning, which may
be informal and indirect, also takes place on blue collar jobs. Rose states that the
social and communicative dimension of physical work provides the medium for
much of a blue collar worker s intelligence. Having examined the reasoning behind
Hrabowski and Rose s views in their articles, I affirm that with proper planning, daily
enrichment on mastery of skills, as well as a dedication to one s career goals, an
individual s decision either to attend college or not to attend college will result in a
fulfilling and successful career. Indeed, I agree with Hrabowski s views that,
Colleges prepare people for jobs, but more critically, they prepare people for life
(Hrabowski 260). In saying this, Hrabowski believes that attending college has the
ability to equip individuals with the skill needed in the workplace and outside of the
workplace, basically wherever one finds oneself. This may be due to the diverse
courses offered by a school which must be learned before a student is allowed to
graduate. I agree that college exposes an individual to diverse areas of learning and
skill and so prepares a graduate for our diverse world. No

Strict Immigration Law
Legal immigration law are making it hard for people to get in this country to have
a good future with their families or to have good job opportunities. Some reasons
why legal immigration laws should be less stricter is because some people from
their original nation might have been threatened with killing family members or
other things. Another reason it should be less stricter is because if the laws are to
strict, people are going to try break them so they can get what they want, but if they
are not as strict not many people would break the law.
Some people want strict legal immigration law because some people think that
immigrants are taking away people s jobs. Other people think that immigrants come

Best Quarterback

Peyton Manning or Joe Montana. While both were exceptional players, one player

and even had that almost magical season in 2007. With all this success, two people

Essay On Flowers. Characteristics of Flowering Plants Essay Example GraduateWay

  • 1. Essay On Flowers Writing an essay on the topic of flowers might seem like a straightforward task at first glance, given the beauty and variety that flowers offer. However, delving into the intricacies of the subject reveals a unique set of challenges. To begin with, the sheer diversity of flowers poses a challenge in itself. From the delicate petals of a rose to the vibrant hues of a sunflower, each flower has its own characteristics, symbolism, and cultural significance. Capturing this richness in words requires not only a good command of language but also an appreciation for the nuances of botanical beauty. Furthermore, the essay on flowers may demand a balance between scientific precision and poetic expression. Describing the anatomy of a flower, its reproductive mechanisms, and the ecological roles it plays involves navigating through the complex language of biology. Simultaneously, conveying the emotional impact and aesthetic pleasure that flowers bring to our lives requires a touch of artistry in expression. The challenge intensifies when considering the cultural and symbolic dimensions of flowers. Different cultures attach various meanings and sentiments to specific flowers, adding layers of complexity to the essay. Addressing these cultural aspects demands research and a nuanced understanding to avoid oversimplification or misrepresentation. Crafting an engaging and insightful essay on flowers also involves avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions. Striking a balance between originality and convention can be a delicate task, as it's easy to fall into well-worn tropes when writing about such a universally appreciated topic. In conclusion, while the topic of flowers may seem simple and pleasant on the surface, the process of writing an essay on this subject unveils a range of challenges. It requires a harmonious blend of scientific knowledge, cultural awareness, and literary finesse. Successfully navigating these challenges can result in an essay that not only informs but also inspires. For those seeking assistance in tackling such writing challenges, various resources are available, including platforms like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much more can be ordered. • 2. A Classroom At An American Public School A typical classroom in an American public school holds a group of students with a myriad of diverse learning needs. Each class is likely to consist of some visual learners, some auditory learners, and some hands on learners. Some students may work best in groups, while others work best independently. Some students may do well with mathematics and logic but poorly with visual spatial skills, or any combination of the multiple intelligences. It seems to be common knowledge among teachers that these needs must be met, and in turn teachers write and teach a wide variety of lessons to accommodate all of their students, and there are a wide variety of resources available to teachers to help them do so. It is important to note, however, that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether these students are spending a small portion of the day or the entire day in the classroom, teachers should take care to address the needs of these students as best they can. While there is always room for improvement with how these students are included in the class, the American public school system has come a long way. In order to best understand inclusion of students with significant learning needs in a public school classroom and the progress that has been made, it is important to have a solid understanding of the history of public education in the United States, and the progress that has been made. The history of public education in America starts with the Puritans in the 1600s in New England. At this time, the primary goal of education was to teach children to read and understand the Bible in order to ward off Satan. The first act that mandated education was the Massachusetts Act of 1642 that required parents to be sure that their children knew the principles of religion and the capital laws of the commonwealth (Matzat, 2009). A notable point about this act is that it did not really address school at all, only stating that parents were responsible for the education of their children. The idea behind this was that if all citizens understood laws and scripture, they would in turn abide by those laws. In 1647, the Old Deluder Satan Act was established, creating the foundation of public education as we know it today (Matzat, 2009). This act required
  • 3. The Observation Of Elephants What species performs burials, has the ability to cry, and form many complex relationships throughout their lives? Elephants. Since many individuals might have guessed humans or primates first, this one question shows the complexity of this species. Transition This paper tries to answer one main question: How does elephant behavior, both in captive and wild settings, provide data that can lead to evidence based practices for building captive enclosures, daily activities, and help with conservation practices, both in captivity and in the wild. For this discussion, I am going to focus on the family, Elephantidae, as a whole. Though some might argue that the genus Loxodonta (African) and Maximus (Asian) should be analyzed separately, I find the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is hard to create and provide hard evidence to support this ideal when there is not a linguistic way to communicate between humans and other species. For the purposes of this discussion I will use Breed and Moore s definition: Cognition is the ability of an animal to separate itself from the moment in which it is living and to contemplate the past, predict the future, and act accordingly (2016). Cognition experiments on elephants did not begin until the late 1950 s, starting with Rensch s study on memory. Since than scientist s have tested/ studied problem solving, rituals, emotions, deception, casual reasoning, tool making, and tool use within elephants with many having positive results (Plotnik et al., 2010). One aspect of cognition that has been tested in many primates in the recent years is the mirror self recognition test; this is considered the basic level of cognition. Plotnik and colleagues completed this test with three female elephants at the Bronx Zoo (2010). This test involves three stages, where each shows a level of recognition. Though none of the elephants passed the mark part of the test, they showed many other characteristics that indicated self recognition (that was in other species like chimpanzees and bottle nose dolphins). However, the discrepancy could be due to the way elephants identify one another: through touch, sounds, and smell, which a mirror cannot replicate (Plotnik et
  • 4. Cm570 Unit 1 Storyboard Evaluation Program Design and Development CM0570 Lee Spratt w14008420 Evaluation of Storyboard A With regards to the evaluation of the first storyboard, I will be taking into consideration the 10 Usability Heuristics. I will be going into each one of them and evaluating the storyboard accordingly. Visibility of system status This heuristic takes into consideration how the system alerts and informs the user about the current activity that is being carried out by system within an acceptable time frame. I believe that our storyboard conforms to this heuristic in that fact that at the top of the window it tells the user of the system what page they are currently on. I believe that the buttons and the text boxes with the fact that they also instruct the user what to do in real time fall under this category. However if I was going to improve on the design we could have colour coded the text boxes so they change... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our system we have adopted and applied this heuristic as when an error message appears it has a constructive message that alerts the user as to how they can fix the error by indicating the problem and its location. E.g when a user enters a username that doesn t follow the format of the username then an error message appears stating what went wrong and where. Help and Documentation This heuristic covers the need for simple yet informative documentation, that way when the user is stuck they have a guide that will inform them on what they have to do. Our system has been constructed in such a manner that it is straight forward, so there is no requirement for help and documentation to be created. However if I was going to make an improvement to our system then I would create such documentation that way it would clear up any ambiguity if the user does get stuck on a specific function of the system. We started computerizing our systems as early as 1968 a commitment to progress through the harnessing of relevant available technologies, a practice that continues even today. We have traveled a long way from our early days when we were using simple keypunching machines. Significant improvements have been made in application systems and infrastructure since then from Batch processing to on line systems, from IBM 1401 and Data General system to the latest Linux/UNIX and Windows 2003 based machines. ACC s Tikaria plant engages nearly 4,000 trucks for this exercise. Due to the speed initiative the tonnage per truck has increased increasing productivity and is time saving thus allowing trucks to make more trips to the plant in the same given time. ACC has also deployed Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) and Global Positioning System (GPS) in all vehicles for effective tracking of vehicles and keeping in constant contact with drivers. Inward and outward transportation forms a significant share of ACC s overall costs and the Speed initiative has allowed about 5% saving in costs. With 30 million tonnes cement moved across the country by various ACC plants which engage about 12,000 heavy duty vehicles the savings from this initiative can be huge when adopted across all plants said Director ACC Tikaria Plant, N Keshav. Tikaria was the first cement plant in the country to adopt such a logistics project and would soon take it to all 16 plants of the country said, Director Logistics, Tushar Dave. He said that the program has also led to manpower efficiency and drivers find it more convenient and comfortable to do their duty. Acc to hindu ACC Ltd. has embarked on an initiative to improve the efficiency of its supply chain, which include 10,000 trucks that carry cement from its plants to sales outlets across the country. Transportation costs account for 35 per cent of the total
  • 6. Distributed Applications Web Services Anthill A paper authored by Montresor (2001) outlines a new approach, aptly christened Anthill, for designing peer to peer (P2P) applications based on comparisons to ant colonies. The paper proposes a framework to assist with the development of fresh protocols for P2P methodologies. The paper goes on at length to explain how BitTorrent works in detail with Cohen scrutinising methods to achieve successful yet fair to all, downloads. Cohen discusses how researchers have previously attempted to find realistic and fair techniques to do this. One strategy for fair apportioning of effort is to ensure each peer s download rate is proportional to their upload rate. However there can be issues with incomplete downloads because some clients may terminate downloading once they have transferred the file. A discussion of the technical aspects of BitTorrent and issues is given; this includes algorithms and strategies, to resolve specific problems. An example cited is choking, which is when peers disallow downloading from themselves and for which BitTorrent includes choking algorithms which try to promote parento efficiency in an attempt to resolve this. Cohen concludes that BitTorrent is now widely deployed but this article does cover many issues with the fairness of the download effort and incomplete downloading as well as relating in detail, solutions and algorithms that can resolve these issues. To both artists and their listeners, music provides an indispensible beauty that helps fulfill lives, and connect to nature. On August 23, 1754, King Louis Auguste de France was born in the Palace of Versailles. He was the third son of Louis, Grand Dauphin, and Duchess Maria Anna Victoria of Bavaria. At a young age, Louis was forced to take on responsibility. As a shy child, this was not the best decision for his guardians to make. Louis parents paid very little attention to him, and instead to his older brother, soon to be king, Louis Duc de Bourgogne. ( Louis XVI Biography) In the 60 s of the 18th century, Louis life would turn upside down. In the year of 1761, Louis Duc de Bourgogne died. Then on December 20, 1765, Louis father died of tuberculosis, a potentially serious infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects the lungs. This tragedy gave Louis Auguste the title Dauphin when he was only eleven. Even though Louis took the deaths hard, his mother took it worse. Not recovering from their deaths, she eventually died on March 13, 1767, of the same disease as her deceased husband. Once his parents died, his mentors began to prepare him for the throne. He studied more about religion, morality, and humanities, although; he excelled in Latin, history, geography, and astronomy and became very fluent in both Italian and English. His mentors also told him to develop a sense of austerity, to make his life a bit easier. As a result, he became

Despite this oppression, several women fulfilled powerful roles; including Hatshepsut a successful Egyptian monarch (1508 1458 BC), Cleopatra the last pharaohof the Ptolemaic dynasty (69 30 BC) and the empress Agrippina the Younger (15 59 AD). Agrippina gained remarkable influence as sister of Caligula, wife of Claudius and mother of Nero; successive emperors of the Roman Principate. Matrons were commonly infatuated with elevating their sons to the role of princeps (Hurley et al 2008, p. 300) hence Agrippina was not alone in her ambition. Instead, she was one of few willing to sacrifice everything; including her life. Astrologers warned Agrippina that she would die by Nero s hand as emperor. She replied, Let him slay so that he reign (Tacitus 109) demonstrating extreme selflessness and fidelity. The day Nero succeeded to emperor, he provided the password optima mater; the best of mothers (Suetonius 1979, p. 211) allowing inference Nero and Agrippina s relationship was close rather than domineering. This can be verified as Nero turned over all public and private affairs to Agrippina s management, (Suetonius 1979, p. 211) which was uncommon and required substantial trust. Agrippina did not misuse this authority, instead re established the imperial family fortune (Ferrero, 2005). Modern historian Anthony Barrett suggests, It is when Agrippina is judged by her achievements rather than her personality or character that she demands admiration (Barrett 1996, p. xiii). Barrett considers the monarchical system of imperial Rome, and how difficult it was for politically ambitious women to succeed. He uses this knowledge to provide an objective, reliable portrayal of a

I want, like almost all Americans want, to be able to retire. Well, the trouble with that is that I, and just about everyone else, probably won t have enough money to be able to retire just from the saved income from our jobs and from social security. We ll have to take the money we save from our earnings and try to make it grow. So the problem then lies in finding the best way to invest our savings so that it grows, like in this image, large enough, and crucially, safe enough, to be able to retire upon. I think, that the best way to grow our money large and safe enough is called an index fund. So today, I m going to explain what index fundsare, and why they re better than our other investing options. Owning stocks in general is really pretty simple. In fact, it s a lot like owning cows. You can spend all of your money on one cow that looks perfect, but then there s a lot to worry about. For instance, you have to worry about that cow dying to disease or falling in a ravine or getting struck by lightening or getting lost. Or you can share an entire herd of cows with a few other investors. Think about how much safer you are! The likelihood of losing a whole herd to something is pretty small, and something really terrible would have to happen. How does that relate to stocks? Well individual stock picking is like owning one cow, while index funds are like owning the herd. And just like your cow could get

It is a very critical and important time in one s life, trapped somewhere between childhood and adulthood. It is a period of extreme change, extreme choices, and big decisions. Lack of one s own identity, confusion, and the need and desire to belong, or to fit in somewhere, can and often does provoke irrational thought. The inability or difficulty to become accepted by one s peers gives way to potentially bad choices. This can be especially difficult for certain cultural, ethnic, and societal groups. For example, inner city youth (regardless of race) who grow up in areas with higher crime rates and/or criminal activity, or lower income families (many with only one parental figure) are by default, at higher risk of exposure to criminal activity. They in essence, have little or almost no chance of meeting or interacting with (or being influenced by) someone from the suburbs, or the country (rural areas), where criminal activity is lower. These inner city youths are more frequently exposed to crime (it is sometimes all they see and know), and without positive influence, they are more susceptible to adopt an identity relative and according to what they experience on a regular basis. No matter how good the women get or how much progress they make, they are always held back from achieving the same level as the men, stuck once again at silver. The definition of sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of sex. Sadly, many women face this everyday when trying to succeed as an athlete. An example of this would be a women getting paid less than a man or getting worse coaching than he, even when playing the same sport. Although some movements are being made to try and help this issue, such as Title IX, stating that no gender should be discluded from any education program or activity, helping sexism in youth, high school, and college sports, it is not being enforced strongly, not making many changes to some of the still standing issues in the sports world today. There are many significant dangers of having earthquakes in large cities such as Large amounts of people being at risk Lots of large structures such as buildings Set off landslides Tsunamis The devastation of the Earthquake can differ depending on the location and environment of the country the Earthquake occurs. Countries that have fault lines close to the ocean are more at risk of having large Tsunamis. These waves can reach speeds of up to 500 kilometres per hour and cause massive devastation to anything in their path (ABC 2017). Some places such as New Zealand are more likely to have things such as landslides since the country has large amounts of hills and countryside. 2. What are 2 ways to make building that survive earthquakes? You may include a diagram to help you explain. 1. Buildings are designed to support the walls, roof and all the stuff inside to keep them standing. Earthquakes present a lateral/sideways, load to the building structure that is a bit more complicated to prepare for. One way to make a simple structure more resistant to a quake is to tie the walls, floor, roof, and foundations into a rigid box that holds together when shaken by a quake (Imagination Station 2017) 2. Using materials that can bend without breaking helps make buildings more shock absorbent. Materials such as steel being embedded into the walls can make a

Darwin suggested that females preferred certain phenotypic traits as females could gain direct benefit from these, for example, certain male characters are able to provide resources or offspring and increase fecundity (Mota, 2010) . When discussing female long term mating strategies, it has been identified that there are certain preferences in which a female desire from a mate (Buss, 2008). Preferences include, a preference for economic resources, a preference for industriousness and ambition, a preference for a good physical appearance and health, and also a preference for dependability and stability. Females prefer someone they can invest in and someone that is willing to invest in them also. And they also desire a mate that can physically protect them and their children and that is both healthy and displays compatibility. There are preconditions as too why these preferences have evolved, such as the idea that resources have been made more defensible and accruable and are more controlled by men, and the idea that men would have to be different between each other in their willingness to somewhat invest their resources in both women and their children. Belsky et al (1991) discovered that some men would rather invest in many women rather than one women and their children as this would mean them

The cultures of former civilizations in Mesoamerica developed technology that aided in the creation of the Aztec and Incan civilizations. The culture of these civilizations was also impacted by their location. The Aztecs were built on cities next to lakes and plentiful water sources while the Incans were founded on mountainous, rough soil. The soil type determined the number of crops that could be grown and trade patterns. Another important aspect of Incan and Aztec culture was social class structure. The class structure of the Aztecs started with monarchs/religious leaders and ended on slaves with warriors, craftsmen, and traders located in the middle. The Incan hierarchy was based on the lower class (poor families) working for the upper class (monarch and government). Both class structures had a majority of low class poor workers. In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the environment and that as a result we should work to help the environment through day to day and political actions. A parallel could be drawn to the idea of the Social Contract, where people give up certain privileges and take on certain duties in order to be effectively governed as a part of a greater society (Gough 2 3). Environmental citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or using fossil fuels and take on duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or politicians in order to better the environment as a whole. Environmental Citizenship can be further broken down into two rough categories: personal daily citizenship and large scale political citizenship. Daily environmental citizenship refers to people following environmentally just laws and performing environmentally conscious actions in daily lives, such as recycling, eating food from environmentally friendly sources such as homegrown gardens, using eco friendly transportation such electric cars or public transportation, and other similar activities. Political environmental citizenship is when people participate in large scale political processes such as voting, political demonstrations (such as the March that I attended) or protests and even running for political office. I will be focusing on just two of the theories that we ve covered: the Kantian perspective and the Utilitarian perspective. In this paper, I will present the two perspectives and give my analysis of the differences between the ways in which these two theories determine the moral status of an action. In theory, this sounds great, but in my opinion it is extremely broad and fails to acknowledge how ingrained selfishness is in human nature. Also, due to the consequentialist component, intention does not necessarily help determine the morality of an action: if two people bring food to an event and the first person accidentally gives food poisoning to all of the attendees and the second person intentionally gives food poisoning to all of the attendees, then their punishment should be identical according to consequentialism because both of their actions led to the same consequence. Kant, however, believed that we should only be held accountable for what is within our control once we make a choice, the results are beyond our control and we can only be held accountable for our intent. I believe that the Kantians perspective on intent is much more reasonable than the consequentialist perspective and it is more in line with our current justice system. Involuntary manslaughter charges and the insanity defense are both examples of how important intent is when it comes to determining consequences for an action. In addition to this, Kant s principle of humanity states that we must always treat a human being (yourself included) as an

Through all of this, one thing that is undeniable is the role colonialism has played in Obiang s continued grip on power and the continued asymmetrical relationship between western powers and African governments. An article by Dr. Joy Alemazung in The Journal of Pan African Studies, documents the aftereffects of colonialism and how the economic, political, and social structure of the country continues to be compromised by disproportional relationships with past colonizers (2010). Richard McGregor, in The Party: The Secret World of China s Communist Rulers illustrates Chinas graduated cherry picking of capitalist practices that resulted in small economic successes, however the Communist Chinese Party fears the delivery of freedom to their people. The Chinese elite fear freedom because it could lead to the end of the dictatorship in China, and end their rule. Also, the decision made those in power in the South exert their disproportionate political power to keep the state government in their hands. Finally, some Southerners who normally would not care about race were swayed by the fact that the federal government was trying to impose a decision in education an arena typically reserved for state government. This made the fight one of states rights versus federal decree. Klarman s argument claims that this mobilization of white resistance in the South led to increased tension and violence against African Americans. For example, the bitter protests in Birmingham and Selma, along with the violence in the Black Belt areas of Lowndes County, where police dogs, fire hoses and lynching were used came as a result of this massive resistance movement. Mental Health And Mental Health In the book Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on college campuses, authors Arum and Roska (2011) discuss how college is academically adrift, denoting how minor academic learning is in comparison to other facets and how academia is failing its students (p. 30). One point the authors emphasize is that it is academic learning is more crucial for students to show the value in their collegiate experience (p. 30). This is in contrast with how universities focus on utilizing student engagement for retention purposes, which the authors believe is not as pivotal (p. 31). This means that to measure the success of college, we should not mention retention but what students learn. While the authors make an interesting case, this view does not focus on students holistically. Indeed, students go to college to learn, but students are more than their academics. When students are seen as only learners and measured by that, I believe this affects their mental healthnegatively. It causes them to only focus on their academic achievements and how much they learned, instead of focusing on themselves and their sanity. When a student s mental health is not at his or her best, they cannot properly learn. For this reason, my paper will focus on students advocating for their mental health as an important skill a college graduate should have, with the main basis coming from my own personal experience. Additionally, this paper will discuss how changing certain policies and practice areas can help

Honest Vino Case Summary The report of Honest Vino s harvesters replacement frequency Summary This report will examine why the company, Honest Vino, should replace the selected harvesters every 15 years rather than every 10 years by Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) method. Based on the Vineyard s and harvester s details, the Annual Equivalences (AE) of both replacement frequencies were calculated and compared under the constant chain of replacement assumption. However, the specific assumptions must be held in this analysis. Methodology There are two options for the harvesters: replaced every 15 years or every 10 years. They are mutually exclusive investments having unequal lives with replacement. In order to maximise the firm value, the method of AE was used since the two projects have the same discount rate, and AE method converts the NPVs of the projects into annualised values which can be compared under this situation. The optimal option is the one with higher AE when evaluating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specifically, the calculative formula is: AE=NPV/{[1 1/(1+r)^n ]/r}. Additionally, the calculation of NPV is based on the discounted cash flows. Compared with other DCF methods, AE considers the time, the amount of value and the risk of the cash flows. Other DCF methods are not appropriate for this situation. For example, the Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) method does not take the size of investment into account and does not consider for replacement in investment. Another method is Internal Rate of Return (IRR) method, which may have multiple IRRs or no IRR, and does not consider magnitude of value. Therefore, AE is the most intuitionistic evaluation method to value and compare mutually exclusive investments. It indicates the investment s NPV in an annualised presentation, which takes into account timing, magnitude and discount rate.

An Unacceptable Route For Real Success And Fulfillment An Unacceptable Route to Real Success and Fulfillment We live in an era where the name of the college an individual attended as well as the type of degree received has the ability to land a job seeker on the door step of prestigious and established organizations while, on the other hand, one s inability to prove his/her academic prowess by presenting a college degree is often greeted by a closed door and no prospects for employment. Has college education turned out to be the only route to a successful career? Escalating college cost which adds to a fresh college graduate s already mountainous debt, along with the national unemployment rate, has led many people to wonder if getting a college degree is really a necessity.... He dispels the assumption that blue collar jobs are for illiterate and unintelligent individuals but rather that a significant amount of teaching and learning, which may be informal and indirect, also takes place on blue collar jobs. Rose states that the social and communicative dimension of physical work provides the medium for much of a blue collar worker s intelligence. Having examined the reasoning behind Hrabowski and Rose s views in their articles, I affirm that with proper planning, daily enrichment on mastery of skills, as well as a dedication to one s career goals, an individual s decision either to attend college or not to attend college will result in a fulfilling and successful career. Indeed, I agree with Hrabowski s views that, Colleges prepare people for jobs, but more critically, they prepare people for life (Hrabowski 260). In saying this, Hrabowski believes that attending college has the ability to equip individuals with the skill needed in the workplace and outside of the workplace, basically wherever one finds oneself. This may be due to the diverse courses offered by a school which must be learned before a student is allowed to graduate. I agree that college exposes an individual to diverse areas of learning and skill and so prepares a graduate for our diverse world. No
