Cosmetic Changes Of Medical Technology
Introduction
With the development of medical technology, many ambulatories and cosmetic changes can be
done by surgical services. This has lead the demand for surgical services to grow rapidly in the
past decade. The ambulatory surgery in United States hospitals had increased to 2.9 million
procedures, according to the data from American Hospital Association. As medical technology has
developed day by day, some hospitals have introduced digital operating room, tele surgery, and
robotic assistants. These modern technologies can offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, faster
recovery and fewer complications. However, many new technologies come with many
requirement checks, safety checks, etc. that cause a delay with the pre surgical check. In general,
surgical services cost about 40% of the hospital s overall revenue. However, operating room
performance has many issues that cause inefficiencies and delays in the operation. A study shows
that if the hospitals can operate one more procedure per day per operation room, it could translate
to an additional $4 million to $7 million in annual revenue.
Summary
A large number of hospitals are having a delay in processing time. They are expecting six sigma to
be a useful tool to enhance the quality of operating room process. The project has set several target
areas to improve. These areas include improving the first case start time, optimizing technologies,
improving room turnover times, ensuring appropriate scheduling, improving

S1: Every child in this world has the right to be safe and free from brutality. One reason why
emotional abuse is the most hidden form of child mistreatment is because emotional abuse doesn t
involve incident or visible injury. Emotional abuse can occur if there is physical abuse or not, but
most of the time there is an imbricate. Emotional child abuse has a lot of consequences. It includes:
long lasting pattern of sadness, low self esteem, unsuitable and problematic relationships, anxiety,
and lack of recognition. Emotional abuse can have a high likelihood of harming children s mental
and physical well being. Types of emotional abuse are ignoring, rejecting, and terrorizing. Each one
has a different meaning. Ignoring is to refuse to show a response or interaction to the child.
Rejecting means scorning the child s needs. Terrorizing is to force the child to do something by
using threats or violence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Art Of The 1980s
Art and sports are my topics for this essay. My year is 1980. It was a very important time in the
art and sports world. The biggest moment in sports history in 1980 was the Miracle on Ice This
is when the USA hockey team beat the gold medalist Soviet Union. The Soviet Union had won
the gold medal in six of seven previous winter olympics, and were the favorite to win once more in
Lake Placid. The final of the nerve racking game was 3 to 4. It was a very close game but the USA
hockey team managed to hold the Soviets off.
The game in the medal round, the United States and the Soviet Union finished the first period with
a score of 2 2. The Soviet Union took the lead 3 2 in the second period. The US team scored two
more goals to take their first lead during the third and final period. Winning the game 4 3 in a
major upset against the cold war rival. Following the game, the US went on to clinch the gold medal

Who Are The Pigs In Lord Of The Flies
The Lord of the Flies in its entirety is about a body of british boys who are left to fend for
themselves when their plane crashes on an island. While the boys are on the island, the rest of the
world is at war. The boys treasure a conch shell at the beginning of the novel in which they use as
a form of advantage to speak. They then vote Ralph as their primary chief. They all determine that
there is a beast amongst them that Jack and his new found hunters attempt to hunt. Not only do they
hunt the beast, but they hunt pigs as a supply of food. While the majority of the boys become
increasingly savage, Ralph and his boys build shelters and keep the fire going. About halfway
through the novel, the boys find a dead man with a parachute in which

Zeolite Based Sorbent Coated with Iron for Advanced Oxidation of Trace Organics in Treated
Wastewater
Abstract
Zeolite with an iron loading of 0.11% was used in a set of experiments to determine the possibility
of using zeolite in conjunction with Fenton s reagents in order to destroy p Cresol in an aqueous
solution. The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an
equivalent iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the
heterogeneous system using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest
would be to use this zeolite at neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the

Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III).
Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced
and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the
hydroxide radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3,
the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders
the use of Fenton s Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the
pH to the range required for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the
pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the
process cost prohibitive. In order to overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended
zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals in water at nearly neutral pH (3).

Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing
chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then
shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an
advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the

The Main Four Factors And Components Of Social Perception
Social Perception Social perception is the process of interpreting information and making
assumptions about others in order to attach meanings based on what we can observe. Social
perception also refers to using social cues and available information to evaluate others. People rely
on social context when judging others as it strongly influence how we label people and their
behaviors. Social perceptions can also be flawed because observers can misinterpret others and
come to the wrong conclusion. It is important to understand the concept of social perception
because it allows individuals to recognize their own bias when forming impressions about others.
Understanding social perception may even help individuals overcome these challenges by
responding appropriately in certain situations. Moreover, it is innate for people to try to predict and
understand the behavior of others around them. People tend to evaluate others based on various
things and how we perceive people and situations can influence our attitude and behavior as a result.
The main four components that influence the social perception of others include observation,
attribution, integration, and confirmation. The first component of social perception is observation,
which is associated with three factors including the person, situation, and behavior. People normally
focus on the physical characteristics, context from prior experiences, and nonverbal communication
of others when collecting evidence to support their

The Role of Language in Creating and Reinforcing Social Distinctions Such as Class, Ethnicity, and
Gender
It is said in a myth that people were once trying to build a giant latter to heaven so God made
them all diverse by making portions of the people look different and speak different language. The
now diverse people of earth felt annoyed and human nature took its ugly toll and separation and
distinctions were made, they all scatter throughout the world. God did this so that the people would
not be able to communicate therefore not be able to build the great ladder that was threatening
heaven. This myth is probably not the truth but it does have a purpose in showing how a change in

It is said that America is the most diverse country in the world; ironically it is also the most
prominent. It is ironic because it is expected that with diverse people in one place they will want
to seclude themselves but in the US; it shows that when there is a similar connection, such as
language, between the people then they can unite and be great. The reason I mentioned that
language doesn t stop dividing people is because even within a certain type of people there is
still seclusion that is caused by language. The invisible oblige of language is so visible that there
are many jokes between Americans about language that distinct types of American groups.
Person A might say what s up bra , while person B says wut up hommie , while person C says how
are you doing . Many people will be able to tell what kind of people are A, B, and C just by hearing
how they ask someone how they are doing. Person B could be perceived to be a gangster. This is
why I mentioned that it never stops dividing people. The gangster can now be deciphered into an
even more specified type of people with other types of gangster talk with the same meaning.
Person A says wut up hommie , person B says sup cuz , person C says wuts crackalakin . Now all
of those gangster responses can be put into their own respected categories of types of gangster.

Marriage Between Women And Marriage Essay
The Formality marriage relationships documented in this study all included four stages: 1): Men

My Life Of My High School Life
During the last four years of my high school life I came across a number of different teachers, all
of them together had different styles of teaching and some were more positive than others. Be
that as it may, despite the different characters that wanted to mentor me and those who care not
too there were three women who gave of them self and did their best to teach a young Black girl
a few extra things. Distinguished from their co workers it showed me just what a great teacher
is. The individual will from the start be open minded, compassion, patience, kindness, and is one
that is creative. The individual loves to teach, is truthful and honest about all things. In their
own way they have a great sense of humor. Dedication comes easy to these type of teachers, and
one will found that they are always eager to provide every student with a smile. In addition a
student will found it easy to approach this type of teacher and the student will found themselves
easily becoming friends with the teacher. I, myself found it to be great and healthy to be friends
with one of my teacher because I could trust the individual. To me this is what makes this person,
teacher, so remember able. Always keeping in mind respect is to be given to the individual that is
in charge, not just keeping them as friend. There are a lot of teachers who been taught in a way to
almost provide fatherly or motherly love, compassion to their pupils. Overall this type of
characteristic is what

Rocio Graham s When I Think Of Home
I have selected the artworks of Rocio Graham, a contemporary Calgary based photographer, and
Hans Bellmer, a mid 20th century German photographer. Specifically, Graham s series When I
Think of Home, of her home garden, and Bellmer s photograph La PoupГ©e, or doll (Marien,
2015, 253). While similar in producing still life, they differ stylistically in tone, exposure and
composition.
Graham s When I Think of Home series and Bellmer s La PoupГ©e are still life photographs
shot from an overhead perspective. When I Think of Home is of garden patches composed of
living and decayed flowers, shrubs and different organic materials. Despite its fortuitous
impression, Graham s series are in fact, carefully planned from the beginning of a plant s life.
Parallel to the deliberate arrangement, Bellmer s La PoupГ©e is a still life photograph, also in the
overhead perspective, featuring; pieces of furniture, fabric and multi coloured mannequin parts. ...

Graham s photographs appear rich with vibrant colours and dark tones, due to the short exposure.
Planned with dedication, she selects composition materials according to aesthetic quality, starting
from seedlings before nursing to maturity. Finally, she delicately places them in such a way that it
resembles a painting. Graham s deliberation is inspired comparable to Impressionist photographers,
in their pursuit to produce painting like photographs (Marien, 171). Moreover, in light of the
earthly colour depth and vibrancy, I consider that Graham s series is an example of Surrealism
(Marien, 251), where inanimate objects, the decayed organic materials, look

Nearly 94 percent of all business management majors found jobs after graduation, with 90 percent
of that number landing in full time positions. About 26 percent ended up in management, 18
percent in sales, 15 percent in office work and 10 percent in finance (Locsin). I believe that
business skills are crucial for the development of any career. Formal or not, business skills are a

After graduation, I searched for jobs and most of the time I froze up in the interviews. The only
interview I nailed was an interview for teaching position for Duval County School Board.
Therefore, I became a part of the teaching profession in the fall of 1998 teaching Biology, Algebra

adjunct professor for two years at FloridaCommunity College in Jacksonville. I started the five year
process of becoming an AME ministry with my initial sermon in December of 1998 at Wayman
Chapel AME Church and my pastor was Rev. Mark L. Griffin. The church voted for me to be
licensed in the quarterly conference in January 1999. I was examined by Presiding Elder DeSue in
January 1999, examined by the District Conference in February 1999, and examined by the East

April 1999.
Instructors advised me to attend seminary while I was attending the Board of Examiners. They
explained I would have a better understanding of scripture, God, myself, and my calling. Finally,
in October of 1999, I was admitted on trial in the Annual Conference of the East Florida
Conference of the AME Church. I entered Candler School of Theology in the fall of 2001.

The Basic Elements Of A Contract
A contract is a written or spoken agreement between two or more parties that involves the
exchange of two promises, which is intended to be enforceable by law. The four basic elements
are the offer, consideration, acceptance, and mutuality. When elements are broken down
individually, each one is just as important as the next. If one of these elements are broken or
misunderstood, it could mean result in the contractual agreement becoming not valid and end in
lawsuit. The overall purpose of the contract is for legal purpose and to keep a order within an
agreement. The first element of a valid contract would have to be the offer. You can t have an
contract with a having something to offer to another partner. An offer is when one party... Show

The next step in contracting an agreement is to either accept the offer being put on the table or if
the party does not agree then they enter a counteroffer. A counteroffer, is considered a non
acceptance but, instead a response to an offer that modifies the original offer. Then the original
offering party has the choice to accept, counteroffer back, or deny the offer which would mean
the contract would be no more. If the offer is accepted, then the next step will be mutuality.
Mutuality is the agreement of being a partnership with the offer that has been presented and
accepted by both parties, along with the terms of the contract. When agreeing, thus both parties
are legally bound to perform their side of the contract, if not they will be have broken their
contract and are risking being sued. Contracts can be agreed upon by word and a handshake, but
for a contract to hold up in court in certain states in must be in writing. The statute of limitations
for oral contracts is four years. The statute of limitations for written contracts is six years. When
contracts are broken and a party of the agreement decides to begin process of suing the other party
of the contract, courts will be involved. When courts get involved, a contract is interpreted a
certain way. When oral contracts are taken to court, the judge will take in information from both
parties since their is no paper trail of what was agreed

Cod liver oil, believe it or not, is a potent Vitamin A resource. Read the label to be well informed,
ensuring that it was processed with low oxygen and was vacuum distilled. This will keep it from
going rancid.
People lacking vitamin A are prone to dry, scaly skin, vision difficulty, especially at night, infants
may suffer growth defects, and women who are trying to conceive may experience difficulty.
Excessive amounts again, moderation is key. Vitamin A in excess can cause headaches, nausea, hair
loss, bone growth deficiency that could lead to abnormalities, and liver damage.

The Debate Over The Death Penalty
The use of Capital Punishment has always been an issue for which the states must determine the
proper use and implementation. Like the other thirty two states that practice the death penalty,
Idaho has its own unique statutes regarding the death penalty, but also like all other states, the
statute is constantly under scrutiny through the appeals process death rowinmates take part in.
Through looking at their current statutes, one can understand this complicated and high profile
punishment. It seems that with each person who is executed, a new part of the law is highlighted
which may be unfair. The appeals process is lengthy, and because of this, it tends to be an
incredibly costly sentence to carry out. With an age in which the media... Show more content on

The only crimes, which are eligible for Capital Punishment, are murder in the first degree,
kidnapping in the first degree, and perjury, which results in the death of an innocent person. This
statute was changed in 1973 as a result of the Furman decision to make the death penalty mandatory
for a conviction of murder in the first degree to make jury sentencing unnecessary (Office of
Performance Evaluations, 2014).
According to Idaho Statute 19 2515, Sentencing in Capital Cases outlines the mens rea, which is

aggravating circumstances must be found present for a person to be sentenced to the death penalty:
A previous conviction for murder; knowingly committing two murders at the same time; knowingly

Ningaloo Reef Research Paper
Ningaloo Reef
(a.) Clearly IDENTIFY the coastal environment you have chosen to search
The coastal environment I have decided to talk about today is Ningaloo Reef. The reef is on the
remote western coast of Australia, it includes one of the longest nearshore reefs in the world.
Temperate and tropical currents converge in the Ningaloo region resulting in highly diverse marine
life including spectacular coral reefs, abundant fishes and species with special conservation
significance such as turtles, whale sharks, dugongs, whales and dolphins.
(b.) Describe the location
The reefs latitude ranges from 21В°42 14 S 24В° 1 52 S (one of the highest for reefs) and the
longitude is between 113В°25 E 114В° 15. The Ningaloo Reef stretches over 300 km from North
West Cape to Red Bluff, is located in the Ningaloo Marine Bioregion and is the largest fringing
coral reef in Australia, the reef is enclosed within the Ningaloo Marine Park, listed on the World
Heritage List in 1987.
Ningaloo Reef is approximately 300 km long and its area is roughly 6000 km2

Ningaloo Reef is unfamiliar with coral bleaching because it normally avoids bleaching. It fringes
the Western Australian coast and usually receives cooler water welling up from the deep, and
from a cool northward flowing current. Recent years have seen shocking marine heat waves
causing vast losses to the underwater kelp forests and corals of Western Australia. Ningaloo
experienced massive bleaching in 2011 at Bundegi, on the western side of Exmouth Gulf, where
live coral cover crashed from 80% to 6%, almost all the adult coral was

Liberia Civil War Essay
Liberian Civil war fought in 1989 1996, is among the most deadly and destructive war in the
history that lasted for more than 7 years and killed almost 3 hundred thousand people. This war
was the worst ever in the history of Africa because it caused the infrastructural and property damage
in the country. The waralso displaced more than 1 million people in refugee camps in neighboring
countries. This war led to a complete breakdown of law and order in the country. There was not
any direct cause that led to this war but several reasons contributed in the creation of this
destructive event. Hunger for power, greed and opportunities to control and to get more out of
Liberias natural resources were the main reasons behind this conflict. As D. Elwood Dunn quoted

these elements by pinpointing historical significance of government figures/events in the nation

Essay about Psychological Themes in Duncan s Novel,...
The Novel Killing Mr. Griffin by: Lois Duncan is a story about the plot of kidnapping the English
teacher of Del Norte High school. Being a student of Del Norte High school, Susan McConnell (the
protagonist) encounters some difficulties and joy after she finally gets accepted in the popular herd.
These upside and downsides turn into major themes which are incorporated during the course of the
book. The major themes that are developed inside the book are: peer pressure/manipulation,
psychopaths, conscience/guilt.
First of all, peer pressure/manipulation is the lighting match of the whole conflict inside the story.
Mark Kinney is the father of all peer pressuring during this story; he uses phrases as: aw its just a

Eventually Susan McConnell can t take the guilt feelings and decides to tell the whole story to
the cops, but Mark is not okay with this and decides to tie up Susan and burn down the house with
Susan and Mark inside. This part of the book is most likely the climax of the book; at this point,
the reader finally is certain that Mark has some psychological problems. After this suspenseful
scene the next chapter immediately starts back at the house of Susan, she is still alive and does not
want to talk about what happened. Her mother tries to convince her to speak up and tell what
happened, her mom eventually reads her something about a certain personality:
This individual has a behavior pattern that brings him repeatedly into conflict with society. He is
incapable of significant loyalty to individuals, groups or social values. He is selfish, callous,
irresponsible, impulsive and totally unable to experience guilt. His frustration level is low; he
cannot stand to be thwarted. He tends to blame others or offer plausible rationalizations for his
behavior.
The reader immediately thinks of Mark Kinney and so does Susan McConnell. Right after her
mom reads to her it a clinical description of psychopaths.
Last is conscience/guilt; conscience/guilt is most likely to be the major conflict in the story. The
protagonist has constant battles inside her head about

Cheryl s Journey Character Analysis
To hike the PCT, one would need to have three things: experience of hiking, knowledge of
survival, and the drive to continue forward. When Cheryl set foot on the trail, she knew nothing
of hiking besides a few basic skills she was taught by her step father. She suffered from her lack
of knowledge until she met these three people. One of these characters was an elderly man
named Albert. His role as mentor was brief yet the one of the most notable throughout Cheryl s
journey. Albert is a seasoned hiker who Cheryl met on the way to her first checkpoint. At first he
teased her about the size of her backpack then proceeded to ask her about her health (Strayed 93).
The scene that presented Albert s role as one of her mentors was in Chapter 7, ...feeling as if I

A Research on Robotic Surgery
Robotic Surgery Technology is transforming the medical field with the design of robotic devices
and multifaceted imaging. Even though these developments have made operations much less
invasive, robotic systems have their own disadvantages that prevent them from replacing surgeons
all together. Minimally Invasive Surgery(MIS) is a broad notion encompassing a lot of common
procedures that existed prior to the introduction of robots. It refers to general procedures that keep
away from long cuts by entering the body through small, usually about 1cm, entry incisions, through
which surgeons use long handled instruments to operate on tissue inside the body. Such operations
are directed by viewing equipment and, therefore, do not automatically need the use of a robot. Yet,
it is not incorrect to say that computer assisted and robotic surgeries are categories that fall under
minimally invasive surgery (Robotic Surgery, n.d.). A laparoscopic approach appears to be
associated with a reduction in surgical trauma and blood loss. In addition, it is presumable that
some of the benefits of minimally invasive surgery such as reduced analgesic requirements, a
shorter recovery period and reduced hospital stay (Kuhry, 2005). It has become a forerunner in the
quest of improving surgical results by dropping postoperative pain and lessening recovery time. Yet,
the use of laparoscopic instruments can be awkward and cumbersome, thus escalating operative
time and dropping dexterity, which can

Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education
How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior
Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre referral process for special
education? In today s time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues.
Likewise, the PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in
student behavior. Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both
RTI and PBIS are very important in addressing students during the pre referral process, and each
plays a very significant role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and
influence will be explored and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention
process (RTI), one must first become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method
that is used to address school aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the
beginning of the pre referral process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this
identification, these same teachers begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly
recommended research based approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child s
progress is documented fully. If solid evidence of success is discovered, through the
implementation of a given program, then the process is concluded because success has been met.
However, if there is solid evidence that proves that the program is unsuccessful then

Ideology of Fundamentalist Islam Explained Essay
Introduction:
This essay concerns itself with exploring the Islamic and political orientation of Sayyid Qutb (1906
1966), an Egyptian civil servant turned political and religious activist, inspired by fundamentalist
Islam. To gain an understanding of what influenced and formulated Qutb s ideas it has been
necessary to provide some background information relating the history of modern day Egypt and
the emergence of reformist and fundamentalist Islam, from the 19th century until Qutb s time. The
essay also seeks to give some biographical information in order to provide a fuller picture of Qutb
the man.

The latter is the focus of this essay, however he cannot be discussed without some understanding
of the historical and political background to the tensions which are now evident between some
aspects of Islamic and Western thought. Yet the designation fundamentalist also deserves brief
consideration. For the purpose of this essay the term refers to Muslims who believe it is
necessary to return to the fundamentals of Islamic belief in order to express true Islam, this
necessitates a narrow interpretation of Qur anic texts and tradition. The term is problematic in
that it is drawn into the conflicting territory of description and taxonomy, especially when, as is
often the case, fundamentalism blurs the division between religion and politics. Is
fundamentalism religion in the service of political ideology or ideology veiled as religion?
(Moussalli (ed) 1998: 1, 27 28). A detailed discussion of these issues is not possible here, however
discussing the political and religious views of Sayyid Qutb may be of assistance in discerning the
political and religious dimensions of fundamentalism.

Consequently, distinguishing the philosophical beliefs of Socrates from those of Plato and
Xenophon is not easy and it must be remembered that what is attributed to Socrates might more
closely reflect the specific concerns of these thinkers.
The matter is complicated because the historical Socrates seems to have been notorious for asking
questions but not answering, claiming to lack wisdom concerning the subjects about which he
questioned others.
If anything in general can be said about the philosophical beliefs of Socrates, it is that he was
morally, intellectually, and politically at odds with many of his fellow Athenians. When he is on

The Rights Of Women And Education
A sufficient education is something that Westerner s like myself, have taken for granted for a
long time. It s easy to, in all honesty, because we have been raised in a society in which education
has been held at the utmost importance. In the United States women are held at an equal level with
men, we ve fought for this sense of equality for several years and unfortunately, not all women
across the world have had that same success. Women from other countries do not have half of the
rights that we do here in the United States, and this is something that we seem to never really think
about. Saudi Arabiais just one of the many countries around the world in which the women do not
have as many rights as men do. Being a feminist at heart with a hunger for education, it piqued
my interest to research the rights of women and education in Saudi Arabia. If I m being honest, I
had expected it to be much worse than it is, yet it could be so much better at the same time. Saudi
women should have every right to educate themselves in any aspect they want, and though they
have fought their way to gaining some leverage, there are still necessary steps that need to be
taken. Saudi Arabia is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of approximately twenty
seven million people. Of that twenty seven million people, it is estimated that 30% of them are
migrant workers. ( Saudi Arabia Demographics Profile 2014. ) The sex ratio of this country is

Aristotle Function
Aristotle explains that anything that is living has a function, or something they re meant to do.
He says that what is good for X depends on the function of X. So the function of a nose is to
smell, a good nose smells well or that the nose is virtuous when it smells things clearly because
smelling well is the function of the nose. Similar to the nose, humans also have a function that is
specific to the species because the species is alive and has something they re meant to do.
3.Explain what the specific proper function of humans is and how this leads to happiness being a

Aristotle questions what the function of man is; he concludes that it must be something that is
specific to human beings. Aristotle uses function to define a species; each species has a different

Due to human beings being different the mean is different for each individual. Because of this
one person s mean courage may be closer to rashness while another persons could be closer to

Social Stigmas Of Asian Parenting
Social Stigmas of Asian Parenting are True
Just walking through the courtyard of Brigham Young University, you are surrounded by
outstanding, intelligent students who were leaders in their communities and are firm in their faith.
Students hail from all four corners of the world from the diverse United States to blissful Asia; yet,
only 1.4% of BYU students are of Asian ethnicity. The Asian population may be small at the
university; but, Asian stereotypes continue to permeate all forms of media coloring our perception
of our classmates from the East. Have you ever wondered why are they so smart at math? How do
all of them know how to play the piano? Why does receiving anything less than an A grade brew
feelings of failure? Many Asians attribute these stereotypes to their upbringing and parents
expectations. In The Wall Street Journal article Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior , Amy Chua
presented her viewpoint that the Asian parenting style to raise successful children outranks the
Western ideals for parenting. But, are Asians really more superior than Westerners at parenting?
Through personal vignettes and poignant diction, Chua builds logos, pathos, and ethos to write a
convincing article on how Asian parenting styles are effective. So what is like being an Asian
parent?
Chua, a first generation Asian American, establishes the readers trust by consistently using stories
from her personal life, ranging from her own mother calling her garbage and then her American
friends

Essay Personal Statement For Internal Medicine
Personal Statement Tuqa Al Khalaf
I write to explore the opportunity of securing a position in your prestigious Internal Medicine
residency program.
My passion for Internal Medicine started during my very first Internal Medicine rotation when I
was a fourth year medical student. I immediately knew that I was meant to be an Internist. I fitted
in perfectly. The vast sea of knowledge mastered by
Internists and the multiple different diseases they were exposed to simply astonished me. I found
that Internal Medicine was, in fact, the essence of medicine. I truly believe there is no other
specialty that is more comprehensive and more representative of the art of medicine. There was
nothing more pleasurable and rewarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that my mind is somehow programmed towards Internal
Medicine; as I found myself thinking as an Internist no matter what rotation I was in. I always
viewed the patient s problem from an Internist s point of view. The view that deals with the patient
as a whole entity, rather than focusing on one aspect of the patient s concern, or viewing it from a
single or narrow angle.
My love for Internal Medicine was no secret and I will never forget the moment when one of my
colleagues told me during my first Internal Medicine rotation that I appeared as if I was living
the best days of my life. She was not exaggerating when she said that to me, because I literally
was. My relationship with Internal Medicine is a very unique and special one; I don t think there
are words that can truly describe my love and passion for this fascinating, unique and noble
specialty. Internal Medicine is my territory, it is where I am most comfortable, it is where I speak
most fluently.
Many experiences I have been through had a tremendous impact on reinforcing my decision to enter
this marvelous field.

Ethical Dilemmas In Emergency Medical Services And Fire...
The career field I am in Is Emergency medical services and fire service. One of the major ethical
issues I ve come across is the refusal of care. Depending on the person s injury and they have the
right to refuse the help we have to offer. The factors that go along with this is, the person must be
legally competent to make their own choices, meaning their not under the influence of drugs or
alcohol, or have an injury that impairs there capabilities. They have to be 18 years of age, if they
are not 18, they must either be a parent themselves or emancipated. Along with those they must
also understand the risks of refusal which is provided to them. For example, an elderly man who is
having chest pain. His family called 9 1 1 because they were

Todays Mafia Essays
Todays Mafia Although many arrests have been made, organized crime and the Mafia are still
very active. Organized crime and its families, particularly the Italian mafia, have increased their
illegal activities significantly over the past few decades. The Mafia and organized crime go hand
and hand, one cannot be spoken without the other. Both of these forms of criminal actions have
been recognized since the late 1800 s, and police say it is not disappearing too fast.(Widener 6)
Migration from Italy, has brought over many Italian criminals and crime tactics. The Italian Mafia

Campania. (Worsnop 273) Traffic in drugs, chiefly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Bannanno and the Luchesse families do not play as an important role in the organized crime

The Household Circle Of India
1.The household circle in France and that of India display numerous similarities. However, it may
be that such is the case in most countries where families are kept together. In India, distant relatives
like grandparents and cousins either settle collectively or maintain a near distance if living
separately. Indians are not as likely as Americans to relocate away from their families and, when it
is economically possible, prefer to stay in the same geographic area. Though it seems that the
French differentiate from that of my own culture due to that fact that they maintain relations with
those of the enlarged household till the third or fourth generation. Also, on page 60 Au Contraire
mentions that the extended kinsfolk gather together for a Sunday lunch. This is generally not seen
in India as members of the lengthened household may reside adjacent to each other, but do not meet
as often as the French. Nonetheless, as an Indian American, my society maintains most of the
aspects of the Indian community and a little of the typical American culture. The French concept of
the state of a young adult is similar to my cultural structure due to the fact that the youth gravitate
to stay nearby parents until marriage in order to remain under their watchful eye and to refrain
from an involvement of morally disliked activities. Similarly, as mentioned on page 60 of the book
Au Contraire, in France, children attend universities in close proximity to their homes and lean to

Business Strategy Towards Global Education
Missteps in Problem Definition have Broad Impacts Pearson is a large multinational company
based out of London. Pearson began as a building contracting company, and over its 150 year
history, has transformed itself into a publishing company in the early twentieth century, and has
now shifted focus towards education (Pearson, n.d.). Pearson employs approximately forty
thousand employees with one third located in emerging markets (SEC, 2015). The company
officially shifted the corporate strategy towards global education and by streamlining technology in
2013 (Radjou Pradhu, 2013; Pearson, n.d.a). In 2012, Tim Bozik, the president of the higher
education division, began consolidating duplicative groups within higher education ahead of the
broader organization beginning its technology consolidation strategy; these assets were the result of
multiple acquisitions. At the time, higher education had technology divisions scattered across the
United States, India and Sri Lanka. The technology leaders were asked to solve the problem of
removing duplicative technology assets, and smartly execute the existing technology budget to
further higher education s goals. This paper reviews the decision making process the 2012
technology leadership team used to merge technology organizations together into one group, what
components of the problem solving process were skipped and how this impacted the outcome, as
well as how the problem solving process could have gone with a hypothesis of

Essay on Existentialism in Night
Existentialism in Night In his essay Existentialism , Jean Paul Sartre discusses the main beliefs
of existentialism. Perhaps the most important belief of existentialism is that there is no human
nature, and there is no God. This means that each individual man has control of his own destiny.
The definition of each individual man is the sum of his life and all he has accomplished in his life.
He is also responsible for all the choices and actions he makes in his life. These types of choices
and actions can be seen in the book Night by Elie Wiesel. This book is a story about a boy, Wiesel,
who is taken to a concentration camp with his family. It follows him and his father through their
trials and movement from Auschwitz... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poor man Moshe the Beadle helps him; they would sit for hours and talk. Sartre would call this
existentialism. Wiesel took control of his own destiny and future, despite his father s wishes. He
doesn t let his father s efforts discourage him. He begins to learn the cabbala, which is an
existentialist decision since the main idea of existentialism is creating your own self.
Another example of an existentialist decision occurs in the concentration camp of Buna, when a
young boy is to be hanged with two adults. Many of the Oberkapos had little boys that they liked
and had hang around for sexual purposes. Someone at the camp was suspected of blowing up
the electric station, and eventually they found it to be the Dutch Oberkapo, and he was arrested.
This Oberkapo had a little boy (not his son), and he would not say whether or not the man had
done it, so they decided to hang him. Many of the men are thoroughly disturbed by the fact that
the boy being hanged was so young. Many of the young boys grew meaner than some adults, but
the Dutchman s little servant was loved by all. He had the face of a sad angel (60). The
Lagerkapo who is supposed to do the hanging refuses, and SS officers have to step in and
perform the execution. This Lagerkapo shows an existentialist decision because he takes control
of his own life. He does not want his life to include the hanging of a small boy. Remember,
according to Sartre, a man s life includes

Leading Indicators
The assigned readings for Unit 2 (Chapters 2, 3 and 6) cover the effects of workplace accidents,
accident theories, and workers compensation. In professional safety practice, the topics covered
in this unit generally include a discussion of safety metrics . Measuring safety performance is a
mixed bag of calculating and reviewing data associated with lagging indicators and leading
indicators . By definition, lagging indicators are output oriented, easy to measure and calculate, but
not improvable since they are measures of what already occurred (i.e., losses in the form of
accidents, property damage, or loss of life). In contrast, leading indicators are input oriented and
represent preventative measures taken to improve overall safetyand reduce the occurrence of
incidents and injuries.
Lagging indicators allude to the health of a company s safety program and performance in the
form of past accident and incident statistics, such as lost workers compensation costs, injury
frequency, injury severity, OSHA recordables, near misses, spills/releases or Experience
Modification Rate (EMR). In general, lagging indicators have been traditionally used to indicate
trends toward better safety compliance and adherence to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Technology And The Internet And Personal Smartphone Devices
With the ever increasing use of technological advancements such as the internet and personal
smartphone devices, many people simply take their security for granted. However, the act of
simply connecting to a web page like the Google search engine requires interacting with thousands
of security checkpoints and distinct networks just to display their distinctive logo. Every modern
organization must consider the risk of the internet, including but not limited to: banks,
organizations, universities, militaries, big business, local shops, and even governments.
Astonishingly, this is a risk that essentially did not exist merely 20 years ago. Nowadays there are
many ways to add security to a system or network. Some will find that simply placing a password
on their site works and others may find encrypting their data is the best way to keep private
information safe. Nevertheless, the loss of personal information to things like identity theftis at an
all time high. This lack of cyber security means that there is an increasing number of ways to get
personal information with the ever expanding use of technology and thusly a more dire need for
awareness of the risks taken.
Need for Cyber Security To directly address the sheer magnitude of the issue at hand, users must
understand what exactly falls under the category of cyberspace and thusly cyber security . Goutam
defines cyberspace as a virtual space that use electronics and electromagnetic spectrum to store,

How To Prevent Chromebook Persuasive Essay
Students think they are taking good care of their Chromebooks, but there is a rule getting in the
way of that. By allowing their batteries to completely deplete destorys the batteries inside. The
lithium ion batteries lose their ability to hold a charge as they age, and lose that ability even
faster if they completely die. New Chromebooks have an average battery life of 7 9 hours on full
charge. However, when that time decreases, they can barely last the 8 hour school day, with
many over a year old dying in 7th or 8th hour. Chargers should be allowed for Chromebooks over

  • 2. Cosmetic Changes Of Medical Technology Introduction With the development of medical technology, many ambulatories and cosmetic changes can be done by surgical services. This has lead the demand for surgical services to grow rapidly in the past decade. The ambulatory surgery in United States hospitals had increased to 2.9 million procedures, according to the data from American Hospital Association. As medical technology has developed day by day, some hospitals have introduced digital operating room, tele surgery, and robotic assistants. These modern technologies can offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, faster recovery and fewer complications. However, many new technologies come with many requirement checks, safety checks, etc. that cause a delay with the pre surgical check. In general, surgical services cost about 40% of the hospital s overall revenue. However, operating room performance has many issues that cause inefficiencies and delays in the operation. A study shows that if the hospitals can operate one more procedure per day per operation room, it could translate to an additional $4 million to $7 million in annual revenue. Summary A large number of hospitals are having a delay in processing time. They are expecting six sigma to be a useful tool to enhance the quality of operating room process. The project has set several target areas to improve. These areas include improving the first case start time, optimizing technologies, improving room turnover times, ensuring appropriate scheduling, improving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The biggest moment in sports history in 1980 was the Miracle on Ice This is when the USA hockey team beat the gold medalist Soviet Union. The Soviet Union had won the gold medal in six of seven previous winter olympics, and were the favorite to win once more in Lake Placid. The final of the nerve racking game was 3 to 4. It was a very close game but the USA hockey team managed to hold the Soviets off. The game in the medal round, the United States and the Soviet Union finished the first period with a score of 2 2. The Soviet Union took the lead 3 2 in the second period. The US team scored two more goals to take their first lead during the third and final period. Matthew Potzler CHEE 569B Term Project Zeolite Based Sorbent Coated with Iron for Advanced Oxidation of Trace Organics in Treated Wastewater Abstract Zeolite with an iron loading of 0.11% was used in a set of experiments to determine the possibility of using zeolite in conjunction with Fenton s reagents in order to destroy p Cresol in an aqueous solution. The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an equivalent iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the heterogeneous system using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest would be to use this zeolite at neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the iron amended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III). Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals in water at nearly neutral pH (3). Figure 1. Fenton s Reaction producing radicals while cycling iron. Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Main Four Factors And Components Of Social Perception Social Perception Social perception is the process of interpreting information and making assumptions about others in order to attach meanings based on what we can observe. Social perception also refers to using social cues and available information to evaluate others. People rely on social context when judging others as it strongly influence how we label people and their behaviors. Social perceptions can also be flawed because observers can misinterpret others and come to the wrong conclusion. It is important to understand the concept of social perception because it allows individuals to recognize their own bias when forming impressions about others. Understanding social perception may even help individuals overcome these challenges by responding appropriately in certain situations. Moreover, it is innate for people to try to predict and understand the behavior of others around them. People tend to evaluate others based on various things and how we perceive people and situations can influence our attitude and behavior as a result. The main four components that influence the social perception of others include observation, attribution, integration, and confirmation. The first component of social perception is observation, which is associated with three factors including the person, situation, and behavior. People normally focus on the physical characteristics, context from prior experiences, and nonverbal communication of others when collecting evidence to support their ... The Role of Language in Creating and Reinforcing Social Distinctions Such as Class, Ethnicity, and Gender It is said in a myth that people were once trying to build a giant latter to heaven so God made them all diverse by making portions of the people look different and speak different language. The now diverse people of earth felt annoyed and human nature took its ugly toll and separation and distinctions were made, they all scatter throughout the world. God did this so that the people would not be able to communicate therefore not be able to build the great ladder that was threatening heaven. It is said that America is the most diverse country in the world; ironically it is also the most prominent. It is ironic because it is expected that with diverse people in one place they will want to seclude themselves but in the US; it shows that when there is a similar connection, such as language, between the people then they can unite and be great. The reason I mentioned that language doesn t stop dividing people is because even within a certain type of people there is still seclusion that is caused by language. The invisible oblige of language is so visible that there are many jokes between Americans about language that distinct types of American groups. Person A might say what s up bra , while person B says wut up hommie , while person C says how are you doing . Many people will be able to tell what kind of people are A, B, and C just by hearing how they ask someone how they are doing. Person B could be perceived to be a gangster. This is why I mentioned that it never stops dividing people. The gangster can now be deciphered into an even more specified type of people with other types of gangster talk with the same meaning. My Life Of My High School Life During the last four years of my high school life I came across a number of different teachers, all of them together had different styles of teaching and some were more positive than others. Be that as it may, despite the different characters that wanted to mentor me and those who care not too there were three women who gave of them self and did their best to teach a young Black girl a few extra things. Distinguished from their co workers it showed me just what a great teacher is. The individual will from the start be open minded, compassion, patience, kindness, and is one that is creative. The individual loves to teach, is truthful and honest about all things. In their own way they have a great sense of humor. Dedication comes easy to these type of teachers, and one will found that they are always eager to provide every student with a smile. In addition a student will found it easy to approach this type of teacher and the student will found themselves easily becoming friends with the teacher. I, myself found it to be great and healthy to be friends with one of my teacher because I could trust the individual. To me this is what makes this person, teacher, so remember able. Always keeping in mind respect is to be given to the individual that is in charge, not just keeping them as friend. Specifically, Graham s series When I Think of Home, of her home garden, and Bellmer s photograph La PoupГ©e, or doll (Marien, 2015, 253). While similar in producing still life, they differ stylistically in tone, exposure and composition. Graham s When I Think of Home series and Bellmer s La PoupГ©e are still life photographs shot from an overhead perspective. When I Think of Home is of garden patches composed of living and decayed flowers, shrubs and different organic materials. Despite its fortuitous impression, Graham s series are in fact, carefully planned from the beginning of a plant s life. Graham s deliberation is inspired comparable to Impressionist photographers, in their pursuit to produce painting like photographs (Marien, 171). The church voted for me to be licensed in the quarterly conference in January 1999. I was examined by Presiding Elder DeSue in January 1999, examined by the District Conference in February 1999, and examined by the East FloridaConference of the Eleventh Episcopal District of the AME Church Board of Examiners in April 1999. Instructors advised me to attend seminary while I was attending the Board of Examiners. They explained I would have a better understanding of scripture, God, myself, and my calling. Finally, in October of 1999, I was admitted on trial in the Annual Conference of the East Florida Conference of the AME Church. I entered Candler School of Theology in the fall of 2001. The Basic Elements Of A Contract A contract is a written or spoken agreement between two or more parties that involves the exchange of two promises, which is intended to be enforceable by law. The four basic elements are the offer, consideration, acceptance, and mutuality. When elements are broken down individually, each one is just as important as the next. If one of these elements are broken or misunderstood, it could mean result in the contractual agreement becoming not valid and end in lawsuit. The next step in contracting an agreement is to either accept the offer being put on the table or if the party does not agree then they enter a counteroffer. A counteroffer, is considered a non acceptance but, instead a response to an offer that modifies the original offer. Then the original offering party has the choice to accept, counteroffer back, or deny the offer which would mean the contract would be no more. If the offer is accepted, then the next step will be mutuality. Mutuality is the agreement of being a partnership with the offer that has been presented and accepted by both parties, along with the terms of the contract. When agreeing, thus both parties are legally bound to perform their side of the contract, if not they will be have broken their contract and are risking being sued. Contracts can be agreed upon by word and a handshake, but for a contract to hold up in court in certain states in must be in writing. The statute of limitations for oral contracts is four years. The traditional doctrine called for a 3 1 superiority in order to have a successful amphibious landing and Holland Smith s plan only had 2 1 superiority over the enemy. After proposing such a plan, Holland Smith was put in charge of the frontal charge that would be carried out in Tarawa. Even though these developments have made operations much less invasive, robotic systems have their own disadvantages that prevent them from replacing surgeons all together. Minimally Invasive Surgery(MIS) is a broad notion encompassing a lot of common procedures that existed prior to the introduction of robots. It refers to general procedures that keep away from long cuts by entering the body through small, usually about 1cm, entry incisions, through which surgeons use long handled instruments to operate on tissue inside the body. Such operations are directed by viewing equipment and, therefore, do not automatically need the use of a robot. Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre referral process for special education? In today s time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues. Likewise, the PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in student behavior. Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both RTI and PBIS are very important in addressing students during the pre referral process, and each plays a very significant role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and influence will be explored and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), one must first become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method that is used to address school aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the beginning of the pre referral process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this identification, these same teachers begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly recommended research based approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child s progress is documented fully. If solid evidence of success is discovered, through the implementation of a given program, then the process is concluded because success has been met. However, if there is solid evidence that proves that the program is unsuccessful then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Ideology of Fundamentalist Islam Explained Essay Introduction: This essay concerns itself with exploring the Islamic and political orientation of Sayyid Qutb (1906 1966), an Egyptian civil servant turned political and religious activist, inspired by fundamentalist Islam. To gain an understanding of what influenced and formulated Qutb s ideas it has been necessary to provide some background information relating the history of modern day Egypt and the emergence of reformist and fundamentalist Islam, from the 19th century until Qutb s time. The essay also seeks to give some biographical information in order to provide a fuller picture of Qutb the man. Qutb s involvement with Egyptian religious politics caused him to come into conflict with the Nasser government of 1950s Egypt and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The latter is the focus of this essay, however he cannot be discussed without some understanding of the historical and political background to the tensions which are now evident between some aspects of Islamic and Western thought. Yet the designation fundamentalist also deserves brief consideration. For the purpose of this essay the term refers to Muslims who believe it is necessary to return to the fundamentals of Islamic belief in order to express true Islam, this necessitates a narrow interpretation of Qur anic texts and tradition. The term is problematic in that it is drawn into the conflicting territory of description and taxonomy, especially when, as is often the case, fundamentalism blurs the division between religion and politics. Is fundamentalism religion in the service of political ideology or ideology veiled as religion? (Moussalli (ed) 1998: 1, 27 28). A detailed discussion of these issues is not possible here, however discussing the political and religious views of Sayyid Qutb may be of assistance in discerning the political and religious dimensions of fundamentalism. Islam, during its early years, was a dynamic force engendering rapid social change in the Arabian peninsula and its environs during the 6th and 7th centuries, therefore its ... Consequently, distinguishing the philosophical beliefs of Socrates from those of Plato and Xenophon is not easy and it must be remembered that what is attributed to Socrates might more closely reflect the specific concerns of these thinkers. The matter is complicated because the historical Socrates seems to have been notorious for asking questions but not answering, claiming to lack wisdom concerning the subjects about which he questioned others. If anything in general can be said about the philosophical beliefs of Socrates, it is that he was morally, intellectually, and politically at odds with many of his fellow Athenians. When he is on trial for heresy and corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens, he uses his method of elenchos to demonstrate to the jurors that their moral values are wrong headed. He tells them they are concerned with their families, careers, and political responsibilities when they ought to be worried about the welfare of their souls . Socrates assertion that the gods had singled him out as a divine emissary seemed to provoke irritation, if not outright ridicule. Women from other countries do not have half of the rights that we do here in the United States, and this is something that we seem to never really think about. Indians are not as likely as Americans to relocate away from their families and, when it is economically possible, prefer to stay in the same geographic area. Perhaps the most important belief of existentialism is that there is no human nature, and there is no God. This means that each individual man has control of his own destiny. The definition of each individual man is the sum of his life and all he has accomplished in his life. He is also responsible for all the choices and actions he makes in his life. He begins to learn the cabbala, which is an existentialist decision since the main idea of existentialism is creating your own self. Another example of an existentialist decision occurs in the concentration camp of Buna, when a young boy is to be hanged with two adults. Many of the Oberkapos had little boys that they liked and had hang around for sexual purposes. Someone at the camp was suspected of blowing up the electric station, and eventually they found it to be the Dutch Oberkapo, and he was arrested. This Oberkapo had a little boy (not his son), and he would not say whether or not the man had done it, so they decided to hang him. Many of the men are thoroughly disturbed by the fact that the boy being hanged was so young. Many of the young boys grew meaner than some adults, but the Dutchman s little servant was loved by all. He had the face of a sad angel (60). The Lagerkapo who is supposed to do the hanging refuses, and SS officers have to step in and perform the execution.
