Theu.s. Is A Unique And Special Country
The fact that some Mexicans send money back to Mexico to their families causes Americans to
speculate and, as a result, believe that they are too unattached to the pride that they should have
while living in this country because of their close ties still with Mexico. In contrast to that, eighty
percent said in the survey that, if they had to go through the process of immigrationall over again,
they would because the U.S. is a unique and special country (Farkas). Based on that high percentage
alone, there can be no real debate on the intentions of Mexicans moving here other than those that
are encouraging.
Donald Trump, of course, attempted to challenge that statistic. During his campaign, he claimed,
The worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican
government... They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those
problems to us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists (Walker).
It seems that Donald may have a slightly narrow view of the number of people who actually fit
into these categories versus the total number of people attempting to enter the country. Based on
previously stated evidence, their intentions for moving to the United States were to gain a higher
quality of life by getting a job, not solely to sell drugs and act as rapists. Now that he has been
elected as our president, many Mexicans are currently living in fear of what the next step in his
plan of action is.
They now

The Physics Of Mechanical Materials
dges The wedges that hold the rotor winding in the slots are sometimes also complex in design,
but always highly stresses. The wedges must hold the copper winding and its insulation systems
in place at high rotational speeds and allow cooling gas to pass through them. This one reason
why at the wedges there are higher stresses. The wedges generally have cooling vents machined
into them, which reduces their effective strength. High cooling gas temperatures can also affect
wedge strength if the temperatures begin to affect the creep life of the material. The wedges are
generally made of lightweight materials, such as aluminum or brass, in the winding slots. This
area does not generally carry the useful magnetic lux, so the wedges do not need to be made of
magnetic material. AMORTISSEUR WINDING Most modern rotors employ a damper or
amortisseur or damping winding to dampen torsional oscillations and provide a path for induced
currents to flow. The amortisseur winding is essentially a separate winding installed under the
rotor wedges and retaining rings that is connected similar to the squirrel cage of an induction
motor. It produces an opposing torque when currents flow in it, and this helps dampen torsional
oscillations and add to the stability of the rotor during system stress events. In some instances,
where full length aluminum wedges are used in the rotor, these may serve additionally as part of
the damper winding. Also some designs use the

anthropometric data consists of the height, weight, ideal body weight and body mass index.
Perform a skinfold measurement to determine fat stores. You can measure the most common site

Comparison Of I Love Lucy And The Simpsons

was made in 1951 and ended in 1957. I love Lucy was an old modern television showed that was

American animated sitcom started in 1989 and is still showing as of today. The Simpsons is a

Julius Caesar Comradery
The strength of a comradery is put to the test in the tragic play, Julius Caesar by William
Shakespeare. Brutus, an honorable Roman, and Cassius, a man with questionable motives, come
together against the Roman army after assassinating Julius Caesar. In the early parts of the play,
these two men seem to work well together, however as the story progresses, the conspirators reveal
their true colors which leads to their defeat. Although Brutus and Cassius lost the war and their
lives in the original story, by having the two stick together and focus on what is important, they
would pose an unstoppable force to the Romans thus saving both their lives. The first instance of
Brutus and Cassius drift apart is in act four, scene two. The two revolutionaries... Show more

This ghost is actually the manifestation of Brutus doubt and guilt, which is why Caesar says,
thou shalt see me at Philippi, signifying that Brutus is not completely certain that his choice to
advance to Philippi is the best decision to make (4.3.327). In the author s plays, whenever a
character sees a ghost, it foreshadows their death later in the story. Brutus becomes fearful of
this, and selfishly puts his life above everyone else s. Without thinking, Brutus orders his
servants to Bid [Cassius] set on his powers betimes before [us]..., which divided and weakened
their army as a whole (4.3.353). Sending Cassius off without the help of Brutus army is a futile
strategy, and he is aware of that. Brutus knows the strength of the Roman army but still sends
Cassius group after them to preserve his own life. This shows that after their previous argument,
Brutus does not really care about Cassius anymore despite his farewell to him in act five. The war
tactic that Brutus uses ensures the death of the army and himself as well, however this could all be
avoided if the men set aside their differences for the sake of the

Similarities Between Middle Colonies And New England Colonies
In the 16th century, Europeans attempted to inhabit America, and their efforts sparked numerous
occurrences within the various areas they were colonizing. These regions of English establishment
are divided into three groups, based on how drastically varied they are from one another. Although,
all three of the areas also share a few common similarities. The establishments were referred to as
the New EnglandColonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies. As mentioned above, all of
these regions have numerous similarities and differences concerning their formation and history.
There are many elements to consider when discussing the establishment of the New England
Colonies. For one, a number of English Puritans, in an organization called the MassachusettsBay
Company, decided to migrate to America, in hopes of a more favorable financial environment. In
1629, after much deliberation and an offer to pay out the original group of prospective settlers,
only some of the Puritans agreed to travel to America, with an aspiration to concoct a Puritan
sanctuary. A year later, they journeyed to New England with a charter from Charles I and with John
Winthrop as their governor. The New England Puritans continued to be bound to their religious
roots, but there were a few variations; the long established worshipping practices that England
maintained were not favored, and the notion of predestination spread. Over time, the Massachusetts
Bay Company prospered, and it rapidly grew in size. Another important historical figure was named
Anne Hutchinson, and she disputed matters regarding religion and women s rights. Additionally,
the Native Americans and the English settlers lived harmoniously and they assisted one another.
Until, numerous wars occurred causing a rift between the two cultures. Some of these disturbances
were called the Pequot War and King Phillip s War.
Furthermore, the ownership of the Middle Colonies caused much commotion between the Dutch
and English. Initially, the Dutch were in possession of the colonies, but the English disliked them
for creating a divide between all of the colonies and for allowing smugglers to bypass certain laws.
An English fleet seized control of New Amsterdam, and James

China s Significance Of The United States
Assessing China as a whole could become a rigorous challenge, but for the purpose of this paper,
certain areas will be analyzed. The First topic of interest is China s significance to the United
States (U.S.), most notably, China s economic influence and partnership with the United States.
When mentioning China s significance, China s vast standing army of 2.3 million, with millions
more available for service must receive attention. The next portion of this look into China will
involve a synopsis of threats to and from China and the threats justification with possible
immediate and future implications. Economic partnership involving the U.S. and China is an
extensive one. U.S. China economic ties have expanded substantially over the past three decades.
Total U.S. China trade rose from $2 billion in 1979 to $562 billion in 2013. China is currently the
United State s second largest trading partner, its third largest export market, and its biggest source
of imports. China is involved in almost all aspects of U.S. trade. China keeps U.S. interest rates low
because of the large amount of debt it holds and consolidates, which reaches into the trillions,
rending the U.S. obligated to China. China s ability to mass produce with quantity, at a low cost to
the American consumer and the rest of the world allows the country to rapidly grow economically,
but not without short comings. The 1979 Bilateral Trade Agreement between the U.S. and China s

In John 1:29 (New International Version), He is known as The Lamb of God , and many other
passages in the Bible. One of the things the author of this poem wants people to know is that
lambs are sweet and gentle. By saying that, he is also stating that God is sweet and gentle as well.
In the first stanza, the speaker asks who the lamb s creator is; however, the answer is not told
until the end of the poem. Here is where one would find a physical description of the lamb, which
is seen as a pure and gentle creature. In the second stanza, however, the lamb is compared with
baby Jesus, as well as between the lamb and the speaker s soul. In the last two lines of the poem,
the speaker identifies the creator as God. It seems that Blake asks who made thee in one of his
other poems, which is known as a companion to The Lamb, and it is called The Tiger. Blake likes
to question who could be responsible for these creations.
The speaker of the poem makes a direct reference to Jesus from the Bible in line seventeen. The
child speaker said, He became a child. Jesus, the Son of God, was sent down from Heaven to be
born of a virgin. Jesus took the form of a child because just like a lamb, they resemble innocence,
peace, and gentleness. Christ is peace, gentle, caring, complex, and simple at the same time.
Jesus is also known as a sacrificial lamb because He died on the cross for everyone s sins. John 1:

Positive Outcomes Of Reconstruction
At the end of the Civil War slavery was outlawed by the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and
the blacks was finally free. In the South there was a sense of anger and shame in losing the war. The
Reconstruction era was put into effect by Congress in 1866 and lasted until 1877. Reconstruction
was aimed at reorganizing the Southern states after the Civil War. The reconstruction plan granted
the means for readmitting the southern states into the Union, and tried to come up with the
methods by which whites and blacks could live together in a non slave society. However during
reconstruction the United States government took actions to protect freedman and with each action
the south countered with actions that would try to eradicate the laws put in place by the winning
northern forces for example, the infamous Jim Crow Laws. The law segregated the whites and the
blacks, thus can be commonly heard as separate is not equal. The Reconstruction was still seen as a
success towards the United States as a whole in many ways as it unified the nations.

Henry Rushbury s Custom House, London (Fig. 1) is a watercolour rendition of the structures and
waterfront on the north bank of the Thames in 1932. The date is evidenced in the bottom right of
the painting, along with the artist s signature. The foreground and middle depicts the Thames
packed with ships, some passing and others either docked or possibly re arranging goods (as

It is possible that this painting was created to be exhibited, as Rushbury was a member of both
the Royal Academy (since 1913) and the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours (since

accepting of watercolour as a significant medium. Another possibility is that this painting and
others like it were made to be sold for interior decoration, as the scale and design suited such
purposes. Finally, seeing as Rushbury was a successful printmaker, it is possible that Custom
House was created as a sketch for a future etching. The painting, however, could be more than just a
sketch, as the intricate and accurate details of the architecture combined with the feeling of a

The Emergency Department ( Ed )
Background Length of stay in the Emergency Department (ED) is one important aspect of
healthcare that can affect patient satisfaction as well as the number of patients that can be seen
by a physician in a day. Length of stay (LOS) is measured as the time a person spends at the ED
between arrival and departure (1). A longer LOS will not only affect patient satisfaction
negatively by creating unnecessary frustrations, but can also cause ED overcrowding, leading to
poor patient care (2). The number of ED visits in the U.S. i.s approximately 129.8 million in
2010 and is continuing to rise (10). The issue of ED overcrowding has gained national attention
due to many problems, such as a decrease in hospital bed availability (3), an increase in hospital
mortality, and an increase in the number of patients leaving the ED before being seen by a
physician (4). It has then become increasingly evident that in order to improve patient care and
ED flow, it is necessary to examine factors associated with longer LOS in the ED. The purpose of
this study is to examine specifically the patient population that presents to the emergency
department with suicidal ideation (SI), due to the lack of literature regarding the topic of LOS in
patients with suicidal ideation. Considering how vulnerable suicidal patients are, it is even more
crucial to provide prompt and timely care to them, and find ways to reduce their LOS in the ED.

John Lennon Research Paper
I was, to be honest, devastated when the Beatles broke up to go their separate ways, and always
torn between the music of Paul McCartney, which was always more rock and roll and raw, and
that of John Lennon often introspective and quiet but eternally thought provoking, because his
was a talent bordering on genius, tinged perhaps with a hint of madness? I loved each of them
in their own way, but somehow always found Lennon songs came to mind more readily. Imagine
was far and away his best album, the title track covered so often now that almost every artist you
can name has sung it at least once , but this most iconic of albums was perhaps not exactly what it
appeared to be. It was, without question, a truly gigantic success commercially, both when first
released, and on the re release following his sudden death at the hands of a deranged individual
Mark David Chapman on December 8th 1980, in front of his home but it was not the album that
those who had expected a return to pop music had envisaged. Lennon loved Yoko Ono with a
passion, and that came through in this album with a vengeance. The pair of them were famous for

To What Extent Did the Revolutions of 1848-9 Fail in Italy...
The failures of 1848 9 could be blamed on the poor leadership of Individuals such as Charles Albert
and Mazzini. However there are other contributing factors that should be taken into account.
Although Charles Albert seems to be successful in uniting the states of Italy to strengthen his
campaign, for example, by joining Lombardy and Venetia with Piedmont and merging their armies
into one in 1848, and aiding the rebels in Lombardy, his poor leadership effected the outcome of the
1848 9 Revolutions. Albert was uncomfortable with non Piedmontese revolutionaries and made
them swear an oath of loyalty to Piedmont, nor would he accept volunteers from other states in his
army. This lack of unity hindered his chances of success. After Lombardy... Show more content on

However poor leadership was not the only aspect holding the revolutionaries back.
A lack of unity was preventing the states of Italy from making any significant progress.
The failure of Revolutions in Naples and Sicily, for example, were due to the fact that the
revolutionaries in Naples split into moderates and radicals. These two groups, even though they
both wanted to expel the foreign occupying country Austria, were divided in their aims. Whilst the
liberals believed that a constitution was necessary, the Radicals favoured republics. Their inability
to work together and their separate aims resulted in Failure. In Piedmont, Charles Albert would not
accept volunteers from other states in his army, or work with any other revolutionary groups, unless
they declared their loyalty to Piedmont.
A lack of unity further led to a lack of central guidance. There was no universally acceptable
national leader who could co ordinate policy, Pope Pius IX had declined the position of Head of
Italy, and neither Mazzini or Charles Albert were acceptable for everyone. ~Local revolutionary
leaders had no central guidance to rule by and the separate states were all divided, setting up
provisional governments of their own chosen methods; extremist, liberal, radical, democratic or
monarchist.

friends, had people who helped them out while they were in hiding. This is one reason why Anne
would have thought that people were really good at heart. One prime example is Miep Gies. She
helped the Franks even though she was not faithful in the Jewish religion. Meip replenished
everyone in the group by bringing them what they needed. She had a well thought out tactic that
helped her be able to bring supplies to the secret annex. She never gave up on them and helped
them through their entire hiding. This shows that people may not believe in the same things as
you, but deep in their heart, they are willing to help anyone in need. The group of people hiding
in the secret annex was in need, they had no way of getting food or any other supplies. This is
where Miep came in to help them. She brought them the food, plus all of the supplies that they
needed, therefore, making them live much longer than they should have. In the play, you could tell
how happy the family was to see her. On page 326, we read, Thank you, Miepia. You shouldn t

Speech On Public Shaming
The immediacy and fast pace of the internet can be magical, but it can also become a nightmare
that ruins a person s life (Source C). The world believes that public humiliation is an effective
punishment, but it is overused and ineffective. Public shaming is a dire term due to its high usage.
Public shaming dates back to the 1500s. The Puritan society gave their people this type of
punishment, as seen in Source A, The Scarlet Letter. They hoped that the sinner would show God
their mercy. Now, in the 21st century, public shaming is still taking full effect because of social
media, such as Instagram and Facebook. The victims that could not escape public shame are
Monica Lewinsky, Justine Sacco, and Hester Prynne. If kids like Tyler Clementi get shamed to death
then public shaming is getting dire because the consequences impact a person socially,
professionally, and personally.
First, public shame affects people socially. Source A claims that: What do we talk of marks and
brands, whether on the bodice of her gown, or the flesh of her forehead? (Source A 36). This
quote was said at the beginning of The Scarlet Letter by one of the women outside the prison
when Hester was released from prison. The quote shows that the townspeople have branded Hester
for committing the sin of adultery and are shoving her away from society. This isolation from
society is also shown in a quote from Is the Internet a Mob without Consequences? (by Nick
Bilton). Source B notes that:

Why Hockey Is The Greatest Sport Of Hockey
Waking up at the crack of dawn half asleep, struggling as a little kid carrying this enormous bag
that is twice your weight, and walking into a freezing cold rink makes you think why do this. All
hockey players have asked themselves this but growing up in a rink is a choice that no one
regrets. You learn from a very young age that hockey is the greatest sport on the earth. Nothing can
compare to the sacrifice, toughness, hard work, teamwork, physical, and brotherhood that hockey
requires and creates. Hockey is tough therefore making it one of the hardest games ever to exist.
Unlike football, basketball, and baseball, it is played on a giant slippery, and bitterly cold surface.
Hockey combines the bone crushing hits that football playersthrow, the unique and exceptional
footwork that basketball players have and the hand eye coordination that baseball players have. To
reiterate, this is all happening on a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At all times a team needs to be working together as a unit. If a team does not work together they
will fail. For instance, a team must break out the puck from their defensive zone. No one person
can do this on their own. This is different from any other sports like baseball which is more
judged on each effort of an individual. Thus makes hockey an exceptional game that generates an
unbreakable bond between teammates. Hockey players are brothers off the ice. Hockey creates a
silent bond of respect for each other. For an example, hockey has the World Cup. An event where
the world s professional hockey players come together and compete with their home nation. During
this event, rivals meaning players that play against each other, are then put as teammates. They
might hate each other when they are on different teams but once brought together, by this silent
bond that no other sport creates, they are willing to sacrifice everything for each

Ancient Greek Astronomy
Many ancient civilizations had their own beliefs about the stars and the universe. Some examples of
these intelligent civilizations were the Ancient Babylonians, Middle Eastern civilizations, Central
American civilizations, Ancient Chinese, and the Ancient Greeks. The Ancient Babylonians studied
patterns on Venus which were later continued by Galileo and Copernicus. People from the Middle
East, Central America, and China watched the skies and made many observations and predictions
of movement in the heavens. There were many famous Philosophers and Astronomers from the
Ancient Greek civilizations who studied the sky. They searched for patterns and numbers to find
something fundamental. Thinkers attempted to come up with combinations of uniform circular
motions that would prove their already observed irregular motions. Aristotle was a Greek
philosopher who thought that the moon, sun, and other planets rotated around the stationary Earth.
But, as we know today, his theory was incorrect. Some other Greek philosophers attempted to
measure the distance to the moon and even tried to find the size of the universe! They found the
universe to be finite. On the other and, Claudius Ptolemy believed that the heavens (skies) were not

Understanding Community And Social Networks
Understanding community and social networks is important in the Child and Youth Counsellor
(CYC) field in order to help create and encourage positive communities and networks for the
youth within the CYC care. Community and social networks are important for self esteem, sense
of belonging, and overall happier and healthier individuals. Understanding the communities or
social networks within an individual s life will assist in the appropriate goal making and action
planning in order to meet the individual s needs. As described by Oxford Dictionary, a community
is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common where
as a social networkis a network of social interactions and personal relationships Examples of a
community include neighbourhood, church or place of employment and examples of social
network includes friends, families, classmates and colleagues. ( Community , 2014; Social
Network , 2014). Despite this traditional definition of a social network, it is also currently
described as a dedicated website or other application which enables users to communicate with each
other by posting information, comments, messages, images, etc. Facebook, twitter and Instagram
are all examples of this. ( Social Network , 2014).
Does the change in the meaning of social networking noted above have an impact on the traditional
community and on youth? Despite the differences between community and social networking, they

Reaction Paper On Punarnava
Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa L.) is a promising drug to rejuvenate new cells in body. It is well
known in Ayurvedic medicine and locally called Tambadivasu. Superficially it is similar to other
species of Boerhaavia and species of Trianthema and Sesuvium. Due to the minute morphological
differences, above plants are erroneously used in medicine as Punarnava, and at times on purpose as
an adulterant. Therefore, it is necessary to highlight the anatomical features of Punarnava for proper
identification of the medicinal plantspecies for local people and for scientific research. Due to the
ambiguity in local names and similar apparent appearance, market samples of Punarnava are often
adulterated with various species of Trianthema and Sesuvium. These adulterated samples contain
neither the Punarnavine alkaloid, nor does it possess anisocytic stomata. Comparative study of
stem anatomy showed two main characteristic differences. First, plenty of starch grains can be seen
in both the ground tissues and xylem parenchyma of Punarnava which is not observed in species of
Trianthema, and second, the phloem around the xylem of Punarnava root has semi circular or...

Importance Of Internet Neutrality
In the United States the Internet is the first place that everyone goes to when they want to get
information. The Internet provides everything that anyone could possibly want and on the Internet
everyone is considered as equals. That can quickly all go away. The only way to keep the Internet
the way it is, is to preserve Internet neutrality. Internet neutrality, also known as network neutrality,
is defined broadly, is non discriminatory interconnectedness among data communication networks
that allows users to access the content and to run the services, applications, and devices of their
choice (Meinrath, Pickard 1). This means that the Internet is not restricted and the government or
Internet service providers have no rule over how the Internet is run or what people can and can t

Lab 3 Observing Osmosis in Living Cells:
Introduction
Background Information
Living cells may be thought of as microscopically small bags of solutions contained within
semipermeable membranes. For the cell to survive, the concentration of solutes within the cell must
stay within a safe range.
A cell placed in a solution more concentrated than itself (a hypertonic solution) will shrink due to
loss of water, and may die of dehydration. A cell placed in a solution more dilute than itself (a
hypotonic solution) will expand as water enters it. Under such conditions the cell may burst.
A cell placed in a solution that is in equilibrium (an isotonic solution) will remain the same and no
water will enter nor leave the cell.
Description of the Experiment
This experiment was conducted to observe the effect of a certain amount of sucrose in a solution
on white potato cylinders. About five or six pieces of potato went into six different solutions that
were in increments of 2 m and were labeled by color. The point of this experiment was to see
which solutions were hypertonic, hypotonic, or isotonic to a piece of potato.

Figurative Language In Stephen King s On Writing
1.
Many skilled authors use literary elements and techniques in their stories; for example, imagery,
dialogue, and figurative language. Not only do these authors use this devices, they use them
correctly. Stephen King, the author of On Writing and many other novels, uses these a lot
throughout his novels.
Figurative language and imagery plays a huge role in developing King s novel. The
Rag s office was a table located in the dirt floored, rock walled, spider infested confines of our
basement, somewhere north of the furnace and east of the root cellar, where Clayt and Ella s
endless cartons of preserves and canned vegetables were kept (pg. 42). The author uses great
imagery in this passage in which he is describing the area where his brother worked. This is
effective because it allows the reader to envision the workspace. Grammar is not just a pain in the
ass; it s the pole you grab to get your thoughts up on their feet and walking (pg. 121). This is a
metaphor, which is the comparison of two things by just stating that one thing is the other.
Another example of this would be, Plot is a far bigger tool, the writer s jackhammer (pg. 164).
In the first example, grammar is being compared to a pole that a writer grabs hold of. In the second
sentence, King is comparing plot to a jackhammer, and it is effective to get the point across and
explain the things, grammar and plot in these examples, in an interesting way. In the first sentence,
there is also an example of

There are many unique aspects in this culture that differentiate from other cultures for instance
they use the same currency euros as they do in the rest of Europe but are not part of the EU that
was involved in the crisis. I was able to gain insight on islands that use the same currency as my
geopolitical issue but not involved in the predicament. Being unaware about issues on the other
side of the world made me realize on intriguing economic debt crisis that is going on in countries
that seem like they are holding together. Greece and the European was a great issue to discuss
and view both sides before since I was unaware that there was a long going crisis going on in this
side of the world. Greece can either get a so many bailouts repeatedly or they can fend for
themselves to find how the country is able pay back the debt they owed the EU within the past
years. In my opinion, I think that Greece should give the money from the EU to survive.

Writing Against Death in The Floating Opera Essay
Writing Against Death in The Floating Opera
In the opening chapter of The Floating Opera, Todd Andrews makes an observation that
storytelling is not his cup of tea, because digressions are impossible to contain, and that makes it
hard for him to concentrate on a particular line of narration; every image he creates breeds other
images, words bring about other words, there being no end to new figures and new chases (Barth
2). This remark suggests that Todds existence is, indeed, confined to the reality he forges by telling
his tale; this fictitious reality regenerates itself. The tone of the passage also implies that Todd
enjoys not a little the unprecedented freedom this realm allows to digress at will, chasing the ...

As Dennis Martin points out, their is a question how conscious Todd is of the distinction between
history and the invented past (31). Todd s reference to his reading may well validate the argument
that a good deal of the story, if not all of it, is pure fiction.
Todd s motives for creating his tale are directly related to the relationship between fact and
artifact in his writing in his life. He is unreliable as a narrator not only because the facts of his
story are suspect; he would fictionalize any event. Todd s mind is purely aesthetic; according to
Thomas LeClair, life to him is a fiction to be created (719). It is most noteworthy that even in
extreme situations (losing his virginity, if it may be regarded as such, or fighting in the front line in
World War I), when reality is brutally tangible, Todd Andrewsis still able to observe himself
objectively, maintain the detachment which is so essential to a writer. In other words, it is not the
fact of his experience that is important to him, but rather the artifact (LeClair 720): his mind is not
as much into the situations he goes through, but is rather set on his account of them.
But why does Todd Andrews embrace aesthetization of life? A clue to that could be the the
argument of Charles Harris, who brings up the the mind body split in Todd Andrews the
phenomenon, as he

Discussing Your Present Leisure Interests
DB#6 1. Discuss your present leisure interests. Also indicate and explain which of these interests
you expect will change and which you expect to remain stable as you age. My leisure activates
are now few and far between as time usually does not permit. I have always enjoyed reading and I
started knitting at the age of 26. However I cherish the time I spend with my 5 year old niece. I
usually keep her once a week, more often when our school schedules allow it. The reading and
knitting are expected to stay fairly stable throughout my life with the exceptions of my body
aging. It may come to a point that I have trouble seeing as I age (as early as 40 visual changes
can occur), farsightedness increases with age while nearsightedness decreases (Berger, 2010).
This would make knitting and reading more challenging, if I was unable to see close up.
Spending time with my niece will change drastically as we both age. She will be become more
interested in relationships, whether they are friendships or romantic relationships and will want
to spend a greater amount of time with her social clique or crowd. She is an extremely social
child so I imagine she will remain so as she grows. Also she is now extremely active, if she
remains that way she will want to participate in sports. As for my body it will continue to age, so
the agility and physical endurance I currently posses will continue to decrease. She has yet to
reach her physical peak of being stronger and more physically in shape

Red Death Symbolism
Edgar Allen Poe s story, The Mask of the Red Death is a grotesque, but yet beautiful short story.
Almost everything in the story has a deeper meaning or symbolism that connects to real life or
reality. In the beginning of the story, the gruesome Red Death has killed half the population of the
kingdom. King Prospero, thinking he could hide from this cruel death, locks himself, closest
friends, knights, and dames away in a concealed castle. This castle was unique in itself and had a
much deeper meaning and symbolism. The king s followers residing in the castle were high spirited
and gay until the mysterious and solemn ebony clock rang throughout the castellated abbey. At
which, the masqueraders would cease what they were doing until... Show more content on

They represent the many different stages of life. The apartments were so irregularly disposed
that the vision embraced but little more than one at a time. There was a sharp turn at every
twenty or thirty yards, and at each turn a novel effect, helps to explain what the rooms
symbolize. This quote tells of how people go through one stage of life at a time. The winding
rooms are like the masqueraders winding through their own lives, slowly, but not intentionally
making their way to the black room. The black and red room at the end of the winding castle
represents the end of life. This of which, no one can escape. None of the masqueraders ever
wanted to put forth a step into this caliginous chamber, symbolizing they did not want to reach the
end of life. The inhabitants of the castle feared death. This is illustrated through the quote, But in
the western or black chamber the effect of the fire light that streamed upon the dark hangings
through the blood tinted panes was ghastly in the extreme, and produced so wild a look upon the
countenances of those who entered, that there were few of the company bold enough to set foot
within it s precincts at all (77). Eventually, the king and his followers all reached this forlorn room
when following the masked figure. It presents to us that all life comes to an end, no matter how
badly one may want to live on

Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Hot Zone
The novel, The Hot Zone, by Richard Preston is a nonfiction book based on Ebola. The author

the first people known to have the virus to go more into detail. He utilizes literary techniques such
as imagery, foreshadowing, and personification.
The author uses imagery various times throughout the novel. One of the stories first talked about is
of a man named Charles Monet. He had gone in a cave and touched things inside if the cave that
could have caused him to become ill. After Monet became sick, he flew to Nairobi to seek
medical attention. In the novel it states, He coughs a deep cough and regurgitates something into
the bag.... You see that his lips are smeared with something slippery and red, mixed with black
specks, as if he had been chewing coffee grounds. His eyes the color of rubies, and his face
expressionless mass of bruises... .(page 17) This quote continues on a bit further talking about what
was happening to Charles Monet. It shows how much detail the author used to help the reader

Explain The 9 Ways Dogs Tell You They Love You
9 Ways Dogs Tell You They Love You. Relationship between dog and human have been existed
for thousands of years, studies shows that the first domesticated dogs came about 33,000 years. It
also revealed ways that the bond between dogs and humans has created many ways in which dogs
express how much they love their family. So here are the 9 Ways Dogs Tell You They Love You.
1. When staring at you. Your dogstares is an expression of love. I think Brian Hare, a well known
dog expert said it all, that when dog looks you in the eyes, he is hugging you with his eyes .
Research also proves that such natural looks release oxytocin, the same hormone that help mothers
bond with their babies.
2. Bringing you his Favorite toy. When your dogs bring you his favorite toy, it means more than
just wanting to play. They want to offer their greatest possession for your enjoyment because they
love you. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yawning when you yawn: As contagious as yawning is between human. It can also happen between
dog and people they love. A study found that when dogs mimic people s yawns it is because the
dog is bonded with that person. The study also found that dogs were more liable to yawn when
their owners yawned, than when a stranger yawns.
4. Lifting and wiggling eyebrows: According to recent study carried out in Japan, dogs were
introduced to their parent, a stranger, a dog toy, and an item they didn t like. The research proves
that, when seeing their owner, the dogs immediately lifted their eyebrows; this suggests the dog is
more reserved and in love with their owner than when they are engaging someone they don t

  • 2. Theu.s. Is A Unique And Special Country The fact that some Mexicans send money back to Mexico to their families causes Americans to speculate and, as a result, believe that they are too unattached to the pride that they should have while living in this country because of their close ties still with Mexico. In contrast to that, eighty percent said in the survey that, if they had to go through the process of immigrationall over again, they would because the U.S. is a unique and special country (Farkas). Based on that high percentage alone, there can be no real debate on the intentions of Mexicans moving here other than those that are encouraging. Donald Trump, of course, attempted to challenge that statistic. During his campaign, he claimed, The worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government... They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems to us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists (Walker). It seems that Donald may have a slightly narrow view of the number of people who actually fit into these categories versus the total number of people attempting to enter the country. Based on previously stated evidence, their intentions for moving to the United States were to gain a higher quality of life by getting a job, not solely to sell drugs and act as rapists. Now that he has been elected as our president, many Mexicans are currently living in fear of what the next step in his plan of action is. They now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Physics Of Mechanical Materials dges The wedges that hold the rotor winding in the slots are sometimes also complex in design, but always highly stresses. The wedges must hold the copper winding and its insulation systems in place at high rotational speeds and allow cooling gas to pass through them. This one reason why at the wedges there are higher stresses. The wedges generally have cooling vents machined into them, which reduces their effective strength. High cooling gas temperatures can also affect wedge strength if the temperatures begin to affect the creep life of the material. The wedges are generally made of lightweight materials, such as aluminum or brass, in the winding slots. This area does not generally carry the useful magnetic lux, so the wedges do not need to be made of magnetic material. AMORTISSEUR WINDING Most modern rotors employ a damper or amortisseur or damping winding to dampen torsional oscillations and provide a path for induced currents to flow. The amortisseur winding is essentially a separate winding installed under the rotor wedges and retaining rings that is connected similar to the squirrel cage of an induction motor. It produces an opposing torque when currents flow in it, and this helps dampen torsional oscillations and add to the stability of the rotor during system stress events. In some instances, where full length aluminum wedges are used in the rotor, these may serve additionally as part of the damper winding. Also some designs use the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Similarities Between Middle Colonies And New England Colonies In the 16th century, Europeans attempted to inhabit America, and their efforts sparked numerous occurrences within the various areas they were colonizing. These regions of English establishment are divided into three groups, based on how drastically varied they are from one another. Although, all three of the areas also share a few common similarities. The establishments were referred to as the New EnglandColonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies. As mentioned above, all of these regions have numerous similarities and differences concerning their formation and history. There are many elements to consider when discussing the establishment of the New England Colonies. For one, a number of English Puritans, in an organization called the MassachusettsBay Company, decided to migrate to America, in hopes of a more favorable financial environment. In 1629, after much deliberation and an offer to pay out the original group of prospective settlers, only some of the Puritans agreed to travel to America, with an aspiration to concoct a Puritan sanctuary. A year later, they journeyed to New England with a charter from Charles I and with John Winthrop as their governor. The New England Puritans continued to be bound to their religious roots, but there were a few variations; the long established worshipping practices that England maintained were not favored, and the notion of predestination spread. Over time, the Massachusetts Bay Company prospered, and it rapidly grew in size. Another important historical figure was named Anne Hutchinson, and she disputed matters regarding religion and women s rights. Additionally, the Native Americans and the English settlers lived harmoniously and they assisted one another. Until, numerous wars occurred causing a rift between the two cultures. Some of these disturbances were called the Pequot War and King Phillip s War. Furthermore, the ownership of the Middle Colonies caused much commotion between the Dutch and English. Initially, the Dutch were in possession of the colonies, but the English disliked them for creating a divide between all of the colonies and for allowing smugglers to bypass certain laws. The First topic of interest is China s significance to the United States (U.S.), most notably, China s economic influence and partnership with the United States. When mentioning China s significance, China s vast standing army of 2.3 million, with millions more available for service must receive attention. The next portion of this look into China will involve a synopsis of threats to and from China and the threats justification with possible immediate and future implications. Economic partnership involving the U.S. and China is an extensive one. U.S. China economic ties have expanded substantially over the past three decades. Total U.S. China trade rose from $2 billion in 1979 to $562 billion in 2013. China is currently the United State s second largest trading partner, its third largest export market, and its biggest source of imports. China is involved in almost all aspects of U.S. trade. China keeps U.S. interest rates low because of the large amount of debt it holds and consolidates, which reaches into the trillions, rending the U.S. obligated to China. In John 1:29 (New International Version), He is known as The Lamb of God , and many other passages in the Bible. One of the things the author of this poem wants people to know is that lambs are sweet and gentle. By saying that, he is also stating that God is sweet and gentle as well. In the first stanza, the speaker asks who the lamb s creator is; however, the answer is not told until the end of the poem. Here is where one would find a physical description of the lamb, which is seen as a pure and gentle creature. In the second stanza, however, the lamb is compared with baby Jesus, as well as between the lamb and the speaker s soul. In the last two lines of the poem, the speaker identifies the creator as God. It seems that Blake asks who made thee in one of his other poems, which is known as a companion to The Lamb, and it is called The Tiger. In the South there was a sense of anger and shame in losing the war. The Reconstruction era was put into effect by Congress in 1866 and lasted until 1877. Reconstruction was aimed at reorganizing the Southern states after the Civil War. The reconstruction plan granted the means for readmitting the southern states into the Union, and tried to come up with the methods by which whites and blacks could live together in a non slave society. However during reconstruction the United States government took actions to protect freedman and with each action the south countered with actions that would try to eradicate the laws put in place by the winning northern forces for example, the infamous Jim Crow Laws. • 16. The Emergency Department ( Ed ) Background Length of stay in the Emergency Department (ED) is one important aspect of healthcare that can affect patient satisfaction as well as the number of patients that can be seen by a physician in a day. Length of stay (LOS) is measured as the time a person spends at the ED between arrival and departure (1). A longer LOS will not only affect patient satisfaction negatively by creating unnecessary frustrations, but can also cause ED overcrowding, leading to poor patient care (2). The number of ED visits in the U.S. i.s approximately 129.8 million in 2010 and is continuing to rise (10). The issue of ED overcrowding has gained national attention due to many problems, such as a decrease in hospital bed availability (3), an increase in hospital mortality, and an increase in the number of patients leaving the ED before being seen by a physician (4). It has then become increasingly evident that in order to improve patient care and ED flow, it is necessary to examine factors associated with longer LOS in the ED. The purpose of this study is to examine specifically the patient population that presents to the emergency department with suicidal ideation (SI), due to the lack of literature regarding the topic of LOS in patients with suicidal ideation. Considering how vulnerable suicidal patients are, it is even more crucial to provide prompt and timely care to them, and find ways to reduce their LOS in the ED. Although Charles Albert seems to be successful in uniting the states of Italy to strengthen his campaign, for example, by joining Lombardy and Venetia with Piedmont and merging their armies into one in 1848, and aiding the rebels in Lombardy, his poor leadership effected the outcome of the 1848 9 Revolutions. A lack of unity was preventing the states of Italy from making any significant progress. The failure of Revolutions in Naples and Sicily, for example, were due to the fact that the revolutionaries in Naples split into moderates and radicals. These two groups, even though they both wanted to expel the foreign occupying country Austria, were divided in their aims. Whilst the liberals believed that a constitution was necessary, the Radicals favoured republics. Their inability to work together and their separate aims resulted in Failure. In Piedmont, Charles Albert would not accept volunteers from other states in his army, or work with any other revolutionary groups, unless they declared their loyalty to Piedmont. A lack of unity further led to a lack of central guidance. There was no universally acceptable national leader who could co ordinate policy, Pope Pius IX had declined the position of Head of Italy, and neither Mazzini or Charles Albert were acceptable for everyone. ~Local revolutionary leaders had no central guidance to rule by and the separate states were all divided, setting up provisional governments of their own chosen methods; extremist, liberal, radical, democratic or monarchist. At first, Anne was terrified to go into hiding but her positivity and hope showed and taught many people lessons on how you should look at life. Anne had such a big influence on the people who read her diary. The play that was constructed off of her diary writings really lets us understand how and what Anne was feeling along with the others in the house. The Franks in addition to their friends, had people who helped them out while they were in hiding. This is one reason why Anne would have thought that people were really good at heart. One prime example is Miep Gies. She helped the Franks even though she was not faithful in the Jewish religion. Meip replenished everyone in the group by bringing them what they needed. She had a well thought out tactic that helped her be able to bring supplies to the secret annex. She never gave up on them and helped them through their entire hiding. This shows that people may not believe in the same things as you, but deep in their heart, they are willing to help anyone in need. The group of people hiding in the secret annex was in need, they had no way of getting food or any other supplies. This is where Miep came in to help them. She brought them the food, plus all of the supplies that they needed, therefore, making them live much longer than they should have. In the play, you could tell how happy the family was to see her. • 22. Speech On Public Shaming The immediacy and fast pace of the internet can be magical, but it can also become a nightmare that ruins a person s life (Source C). The world believes that public humiliation is an effective punishment, but it is overused and ineffective. Public shaming is a dire term due to its high usage. Public shaming dates back to the 1500s. The Puritan society gave their people this type of punishment, as seen in Source A, The Scarlet Letter. They hoped that the sinner would show God their mercy. Now, in the 21st century, public shaming is still taking full effect because of social media, such as Instagram and Facebook. The victims that could not escape public shame are Monica Lewinsky, Justine Sacco, and Hester Prynne. If kids like Tyler Clementi get shamed to death then public shaming is getting dire because the consequences impact a person socially, professionally, and personally. First, public shame affects people socially. Source A claims that: What do we talk of marks and brands, whether on the bodice of her gown, or the flesh of her forehead? (Source A 36). This quote was said at the beginning of The Scarlet Letter by one of the women outside the prison when Hester was released from prison. The quote shows that the townspeople have branded Hester for committing the sin of adultery and are shoving her away from society. This isolation from society is also shown in a quote from Is the Internet a Mob without Consequences? (by Nick Bilton). Source B notes that: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All hockey players have asked themselves this but growing up in a rink is a choice that no one regrets. You learn from a very young age that hockey is the greatest sport on the earth. Nothing can compare to the sacrifice, toughness, hard work, teamwork, physical, and brotherhood that hockey requires and creates. Hockey is tough therefore making it one of the hardest games ever to exist. Unlike football, basketball, and baseball, it is played on a giant slippery, and bitterly cold surface. Hockey players are brothers off the ice. Hockey creates a silent bond of respect for each other. For an example, hockey has the World Cup. An event where the world s professional hockey players come together and compete with their home nation. Some examples of these intelligent civilizations were the Ancient Babylonians, Middle Eastern civilizations, Central American civilizations, Ancient Chinese, and the Ancient Greeks. Not only do these authors use this devices, they use them correctly. Stephen King, the author of On Writing and many other novels, uses these a lot throughout his novels. Figurative language and imagery plays a huge role in developing King s novel. The Rag s office was a table located in the dirt floored, rock walled, spider infested confines of our basement, somewhere north of the furnace and east of the root cellar, where Clayt and Ella s endless cartons of preserves and canned vegetables were kept (pg. 42). The author uses great imagery in this passage in which he is describing the area where his brother worked. This is effective because it allows the reader to envision the workspace. Grammar is not just a pain in the ass; it s the pole you grab to get your thoughts up on their feet and walking (pg. 121). This is a metaphor, which is the comparison of two things by just stating that one thing is the other. Another example of this would be, Plot is a far bigger tool, the writer s jackhammer (pg. 164). In the first example, grammar is being compared to a pole that a writer grabs hold of. In the second sentence, King is comparing plot to a jackhammer, and it is effective to get the point across and explain the things, grammar and plot in these examples, in an interesting way. In the first sentence, there is also an example of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What company was sued because its Web site s advertisement placed cookies on the computers of people visiting the site? 2. In what European country was a privacy protection law used to curtail free speech, according to Mishkin? The right to privacy has been around since the early part of the last century. It has evolved to apply more or less to a disparate array of social and economic issues, ranging from the desire to avoid publicity ( Time v. Hill ) to abortion (Roe v. Wade). The recent explosive growth of Internet use has created its own set of privacy concerns arising from this new medium. By mid 2001, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others misbehaved as well. Liberty Financial operated the Young Investors web site, devoted to adolescents and teens. The site included a survey that gathered private information (social security numbers and telephone numbers, for instance), promised prizes for completing it and assured users that all of your answers will be totally anonymous. In fact, the FTC found that Liberty did not keep the information anonymously and did not even award the prizes it had promised. Liberty entered into a Consent Decree in 1999, promising to (a) stop making false claims about anonymity; (b) post a Privacy Policy; and (c) obtain verifiable parental consent before gathering private information from children under 13 years old. In the Liberty action, the FTC was foreshadowing the requirements of a law that went into effect the following year the Children s Online Privacy Protection Act ( COPPA ). Under COPPA, a web site that is principally directed towards children under 13 years old must abide by some very strict rules before gathering personal information from users. COPPA requires a much more detailed Privacy Policy and goes further to require a direct notice to the parents, and that the web site operator has verifiable parental consent as was done in the Consent Decree with Liberty ... Greece and the European was a great issue to discuss and view both sides before since I was unaware that there was a long going crisis going on in this side of the world. • 43. Writing Against Death in The Floating Opera Essay Writing Against Death in The Floating Opera In the opening chapter of The Floating Opera, Todd Andrews makes an observation that storytelling is not his cup of tea, because digressions are impossible to contain, and that makes it hard for him to concentrate on a particular line of narration; every image he creates breeds other images, words bring about other words, there being no end to new figures and new chases (Barth 2). This remark suggests that Todds existence is, indeed, confined to the reality he forges by telling his tale; this fictitious reality regenerates itself. The tone of the passage also implies that Todd enjoys not a little the unprecedented freedom this realm allows to digress at will, chasing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Dennis Martin points out, their is a question how conscious Todd is of the distinction between history and the invented past (31). Todd s reference to his reading may well validate the argument that a good deal of the story, if not all of it, is pure fiction. Todd s motives for creating his tale are directly related to the relationship between fact and artifact in his writing in his life. He is unreliable as a narrator not only because the facts of his story are suspect; he would fictionalize any event. Todd s mind is purely aesthetic; according to Thomas LeClair, life to him is a fiction to be created (719). It is most noteworthy that even in extreme situations (losing his virginity, if it may be regarded as such, or fighting in the front line in World War I), when reality is brutally tangible, Todd Andrewsis still able to observe himself objectively, maintain the detachment which is so essential to a writer. In other words, it is not the fact of his experience that is important to him, but rather the artifact (LeClair 720): his mind is not as much into the situations he goes through, but is rather set on his account of them. But why does Todd Andrews embrace aesthetization of life? A clue to that could be the the argument of Charles Harris, who brings up the the mind body split in Todd Andrews the phenomenon, as he ... • 44. Discussing Your Present Leisure Interests DB#6 1. Discuss your present leisure interests. Also indicate and explain which of these interests you expect will change and which you expect to remain stable as you age. My leisure activates are now few and far between as time usually does not permit. I have always enjoyed reading and I started knitting at the age of 26. However I cherish the time I spend with my 5 year old niece. I usually keep her once a week, more often when our school schedules allow it. The reading and knitting are expected to stay fairly stable throughout my life with the exceptions of my body aging. It may come to a point that I have trouble seeing as I age (as early as 40 visual changes can occur), farsightedness increases with age while nearsightedness decreases (Berger, 2010). This would make knitting and reading more challenging, if I was unable to see close up. Spending time with my niece will change drastically as we both age. She will be become more interested in relationships, whether they are friendships or romantic relationships and will want to spend a greater amount of time with her social clique or crowd. She is an extremely social child so I imagine she will remain so as she grows. Also she is now extremely active, if she remains that way she will want to participate in sports. As for my body it will continue to age, so the agility and physical endurance I currently posses will continue to decrease. She has yet to reach her physical peak of being stronger and more physically in shape ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The apartments were so irregularly disposed that the vision embraced but little more than one at a time. There was a sharp turn at every twenty or thirty yards, and at each turn a novel effect, helps to explain what the rooms symbolize. This quote tells of how people go through one stage of life at a time. The winding rooms are like the masqueraders winding through their own lives, slowly, but not intentionally making their way to the black room. The black and red room at the end of the winding castle represents the end of life. This of which, no one can escape. None of the masqueraders ever wanted to put forth a step into this caliginous chamber, symbolizing they did not want to reach the end of life. The inhabitants of the castle feared death. This is illustrated through the quote, But in the western or black chamber the effect of the fire light that streamed upon the dark hangings through the blood tinted panes was ghastly in the extreme, and produced so wild a look upon the countenances of those who entered, that there were few of the company bold enough to set foot within it s precincts at all (77). Eventually, the king and his followers all reached this forlorn room when following the masked figure. It presents to us that all life comes to an end, no matter how badly one may want to live on ...
