The Indium Scan Test Essay examples
Who would have thought we would be using nuclear substances for medical purposes? Well, we
are many different ways. I am going to discuss a test called the Indium Scan; this test requires the
use of nuclear substances being injected into the blood stream via an IV. The amount of Indium
that is giving is based on the patient and what the doctor feels as appropriate.
What is Indium you may ask?
Indium is an element. It has a classification name of metal. Indium was named for the Indigo line
of spectrum and came from the Latin word indicum. There are 23 different types of Indium
isotopes however only two are natural. Indium is also found in zinc, iron and lead. Indium is used
for many reasons such as low melting point alloys, as well as many ... Show more content on

First the patient s blood is drawn usually mixed with a small amount of substance called Indium
111 isotope, also known as tagging. This test requires around 50 mls of blood. In the second part of
the test they inject the cells back into the patient s body through a vein. This is not a contrast.
The next day the patient is asked to return for a series of images using a gamma camera. This is a
full body scan. This test is done by a nuclear medicine technician. This part usually last between
60 to 90 minutes, this is the final stage of the test. In the case of an infection or abscess the
tagged cells will clump to a specific area of the body usually the liver or spleen but also other
organs as well.
The test has been known to be giving on children in the case of inflammatory bowel disease so the
test does not discriminate against age. There have not been enough studies in the case of children
and the Indium scan and the effects from it.
There are no restrictions or preparation to undergo this test and is painless except for the sharp
feeling from the needle however the patient is asked to remain still on the table as if not it may
affect the results. The table may be hard and cold, you will not be able to feel the radioactive
substance enter your blood stream. The patient may eat regularly as well as drink. The doctor may
ask you to stop taking any antibiotics if any prior to testing.
There are no known side effects of the test,

What Are The Barriers To The Use Of Evidence Based Practice
Evidence based practice is the practice of making clinical decisions based off the best available
research evidence coupled with the nurse s own expertise, while also taking into account, the
patient s assessments and own personal preferences. This use of research has proven effective at
providing better outcomes and lower healthcare costs, yet there are several barriers, such as time,
education, and support, which prevent nurses from consistently using evidence based practice
(AJN, 2012). The top three barriers to the use of evidence based practice are lack of time,
education, and support in implementing new practices and using them consistently. One of the
main barriers in using evidence based practice is the lack of time in order to implement it into the
nurses days. In one study, many respondents said that, both at work and outside of work hours,
time was just not there (Brown, Wickline, Ecoff, Glaser, 2009). In another study done many
years later, time continued to be a main concern for nurses and that they just didn t feel like it
should be expected for them to keep up with the research (Tacia, Biskupski, Pheley, Lehto,
2015). Many of these restraints on time can easily be addressed though. Some issues, such as,
short staffing can be fixed, while others would take more work to address, such as, not having
enough time at home to research due to familial obligations. Setting aside specific time in the
workday for nurse s to research or hiring more nurses in order to split the work load and allow
more time in between tasks for research could also be solutions to this specific barrier. Another
important barrier is nursing education. Nurses who graduated many years ago were not taught
evidence based practice and even current schools focus too much researching rather than how to
implement current research into care (AJN, 2012). This lack of knowledge on how to implement
may stem from the lack of knowledge on how to read and interpret research data or that nurses
might feel overwhelmed due to the fact that there is so much and might not know how to narrow
what is important or how to read all of it (Brown et al., 2009). In the Tacia study (2015), advanced
care nurses could easily point out

Changing Role Of Women During World War II
Changing Role of Women in World War II
When Britain declared war against Germany in 1939, the Australian Prime Minister, Robert
Menzies, proclaimed that Australia was also at war. The declaration of war saw Australians
respond to another world conflict. On this occasion, Australia itself would be under the threat of
attack. World War II would not only require young men to travel overseas and fight but it also
significantly impacted the lives of Australian women. The contribution Australian women made
towards the war effort and their roles on the Homefront and overseas was a vital part of Australian
History. Australian women had a range of duties and responsibilities they were encouraged to
perform. Since most men had to go overseas to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, through this experience, women bought long term changes and they had the chance to
experience independence which allowed them to discover life long skills. This was one of their
many achievements which eventually changed the modern society. As seen in Appendix 1, the
AWLA received the newly created Civilian Service Medal 1939 1945 due to their support of the
war effort. This undoubtedly indicates that these women were the start of an alteration in Australia
for the long term, due to their struggle and achievement.
Women in World War II started replacing men in traditional roles, which proved to society that
women were capable of work reserved for men. Due to labour shortages and the need for men to
fight overseas, the government was forced to allow women to take a more active role. Women
had a broad range of duties and responsibilities, most women were trained in many of the home
front tasks, subsequently, that more service men could be freed to join the overseas forces, this
created new employment opportunities for women (Carrodus et al, 2012, p. 113). Tens of
thousands of women joined the Women s Air Force, Naval and Army Services during World War
II. (Big Black Dog Communications Pty Ltd, et al, 2009). As seen Appendix 2, women in the
services were significant as they were beginning to perform all types of work, from intelligence
officers to drivers, typists and cooks, to wireless telegraphists and aircraft ground staff. To go from

college used Biometric Time Attendance to track their student s attendance. The Biggest
advantage of Biometric Time Attendance over manual tracking is better security. Many shops and
shopping mall use biometric time attendance for security purpose and it really works a lot. If
someone wants to use it for business or organization, then they can easily integrate it to payroll
systems, account systems and billing systems. So in that way it is very flexible also and it also

Clabsi And Clabse Infection
Background or Introduction CLABSI is the acronym for central line associated blood stream
infection. CLABSI are the third leading cause of hospital acquired infection (HAI). Central line
associated infections are life threatening and is a common risk factor associated with central
venous catheters (CVC). Peripherally inserted central catheters are a common type of CVC used.
Research is conducted to determine whether there is a benefit to reducing CLABSI with use of
PICC lines that are coated with antimicrobials. This research compares the impact of chlorhexidine
impregnated verses non chlorhexidine PICC with the risk of CLABSI and VTE development in
patients that are immune suppressed, critical care or trauma patients. Review of the... Show more

The randomization was conducted by a third party responsible for mixing and selecting subjects
for each unit. Daily assessment of the PICC dressing was completed by a study investigator. The
selected groups were assigned to group A, for CHG PICC or B, non CHG PICC. Insertion of all
PICC lines was completed by the PICC insertion team. CDC guidelines were used to diagnose
CLABSI with VTE diagnosis based upon assessment and diagnostic testing. Data Analysis In
this study, 167 participants completed the study. The groups were divided into 80 randomized
that received PICC with HCG as the experimental group and 87 randomized that received PICC
without HCG as the control group. An a priori sample size calculation validation using CLABSI
infection site from the three types of patients was used with 30 experimental and 30 controls.
The sample was described using descriptive statistics. The Shapiro Wilk test was used to check
for normalcy. To assess for differences in patient age and duration of PICC line placement the
Whitney U test was used. The Fisher exact test was used to assess for significant differences in
post insertion bleeding rate and to assess for associations between the groups regarding CLASBI,
VTE and post insertion bleeding. Use of the CDC definition of CLABSI as well as utilization of for
verification by the infection specialist maintained the validity of this study. VTE determination was

Lead Exposure Essay
Lead is a naturally occurring element we find in the earth crust, but even with its natural status, it
s highly dangerous to humans when exposed improperly. The reason I put lead as number one on
my list is because of its use in tons of mainstream products all throughout the world. Sure,
chlordane in pesticides is also a very harmful substance, but it s not used in as many common
products that led is. According to an article written by Dr. Edward Group, founder of the Global
Healing Center, the toxic medal that is lead can not only impact the way the body operates, but also
completely shut down different organs leading to death (Group). Group explains that lead exposure
can affect the kidneys, liver, reproductive system, and the nervous system.... Show more content on

Chloroform is a clear, natural occurring, sweet tasting liquid medal that can be extremely deadly.
Even though Chloroform is a natural occurring element, most chloroform is manmade.
Chloroform can be found in household cleaning products, swimming pools, and even in small
amounts in water. Chloroform can form by mixing alcohol and bleach, or just breaking down
any type of chlorine based substance ( How to Make Chloroform... ). Chloroform is ok if only
exposed to small amounts, but if over exposed to it the chemical can be extremely dangerous.
Some of the main ways people are exposed to chloroform is: contaminated water, household
cleaning products, and even swimming in a pool. The effects of chloroform vary based on how
it was exposed, how long it was exposed for, and individual health. Directly after being exposed
to chloroform through the air, some common side effects are: dizziness, feeling tired, and having
headaches. If expose for too long some much more severe impacts occur such as: cancer, kidney
failure, liver failure, and infections in blood flow ( Chloroform ). Chloroform isn t the most
known substance, and its long term effects on humans aren t even really well documented so
there is very little we know about what it does to animals. We do know, just like humans, animals
have several organ problems resulting from direct over exposure to chloroform such as kidney
failure, heart disease, and blood problems ( Medical Discoveries ). According to EcoUSA.com, most

Nancy Mairs Disability Analysis
If you saw a person in the mall in a wheelchair, would you judge them? Or would you look at
them like they are a normal human being? People who have a disability whether they are
physically disabled, mentally disabled, or learning disabled, are still themselves. Nancy Mairs
was forty three year old woman with multiple sclerosis. She wrote an essay, Disability , that
explained her views of her physical disability. When I see a person with a disability, either
physically or mentally, I end up taking a second look. The first idea that pops in my head is
what is wrong with the person. I know it sounds very rude of me, but it is an instinct. Modern
day society has shaped us to be weird around others who have disabilities. It saddens me to see
people in the world judge those who are disabled, however I tend to do the same thing at times.
When I was in third grade, my grades began to drop for no reason. My parents had thought that I
just needed to get my eyes checked out. I later found out I have Dyslexia and ADHD. I went to a

The Evil Eye Among The Azande
I.Introduction
This extended essay will involve a comparison of ethnographic material from two case studies,
E. E. Evans Pritchard s, Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the Azande (Oxford 1937) and V.
Chryssanthopoulou s article on The Evil Eye among the Greeks of Australia: Identity, Continuity
and Modernization , in J. C. B. Petropoulos (ed.), Greek Magic: Ancient, Medieval and Modern
(Routledge 2008, pp. 106 118). The aim of this comparison will be to illustrate two different
indigenous systems of knowledge and understanding of man s misfortune in the world as employed
by the members of these societies. In particular, I shall be focusing on the beliefs and practices of
these societies which surround notions of misfortune in everyday ... Show more content on

For example, when Pritchard paid the two different witchdoctors to teach his servant all their
secrets, when he acknowledges that the custom is that the teachings have to be strictly confidential
to someone who is particularly interested in proceeding his career as a witch doctor. In addition,
woman s position in the Zande society is a very briefly mentioned aspect when on the contrary,
Chryssanthopoulou being a female anthropologist, has a frequency to mention only claims of
women about the Evil Eye. However; it might be the case that men among the Azande are more
involved with witchcraft than women and respectively in reverse in the Castellorizian community.
Also, Chryssanthopoulou is a follower of the Greek Orthodox Church that as mentioned above,
accepts the Evil Eye concept. Finally, it should be mentioned that Evans Pritchard being a British
studied the Azande when they were under a great change because of the British rule, but again the
topic is only briefly mentioned in the ethnography.
Evans Pritchard s work Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the Azande was the first ethnography
that tried to understand the native s set of belief when in their own context and not through a
Westerner s eye. It was him that first criticized and disposed of the thought that there existed a
particularly primitive, prelogical mentality. His point was to investigate the interrelationships of

Joker Research Paper
Bat s I see bat s everywhere. You may have heard of this phrase before its joker s infamous phrase. I

laugh it could be joker. I will be talking about joker s creation, personal life, and his enemies. First
let s talk about how joker was created. Joker quits his job as a lab assistant, and works as a bad
comedian to support his pregnant wife, when his wife passes away he agrees to help mobsters
as the red hood, joker was not always joker he used to be another villainous criminal as the red
hood who had a gang of mobsters, then batman suddenly shows up, and joker was punched in
the face and fell into a pool of acid waste, which bleaches his skin white, and colors his hair
green, and also his lips bright red. So now he has not only had an accident but why he is also
insane. When joker fell into the pool of acid, and fell out of the sewers he looked at his reflection,
and goes insane of his disfigurement. Also he was diagnosed with an illness called psychopathy
which is a mental illness of joker s disfigurement, and that is why he is always insane.... Show more

Franklin D. Roosevelt And Public Health
Franklin D. Roosevelt/Health Care Administration
Introduction
The paper provides detailed information about Franklin D. Roosevelt contribution to the community
and public health with regards to how the individual s contribution impacts on today s public health
system. The previous paper provided the historical background and the personal beliefs that
prompted Roosevelt to make his contributions to the community and public health. The paper will
also discuss how the input of Roosevelt is still relevant today and how his contributions could
support or be expanded for future community and public health benefits.
During his reign as US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt realized that his desire to reform the
health sector would require the backing of the people for it to pass through Congress. His tenure
between 1933 and 1945 was characterized by the Great Depression, World War I, and the New
Deal that included the Social Security Bill (Physicians for a National Health Program, 1999). The
Great Depression presented a perfect opportunity for President Roosevelt to pass a mandatory
health insurance in the US, but the country was reeling from the effects of the depression with
unemployment and millions out of work. Unemployment insurance became his priority before
taking a swipe at the inclusion of a health insurance bill since he feared that including the Health
Insurance Bill in the Social Security legislation would face opposition in Congress.
Before his Presidency, FDR won the

Mobile Ad Hoc Network Essay
Mobile ad hoc network (MANTE) is a group of wireless mobile computers (nodes) in where they
help each other to forward packets when out of range of direct wireless transmission. When out of
range could mean constantly moving, no base station infrastructure or infrastructure destroyed. Ad
hoc networks can effortlessly and inexpensively be established. Ad hoc network can be easily set
up due to the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network
infrastructure (base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem
of secure routing protocols for this type of network.
Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking
security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret
keys between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys,
and digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established
in the network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before
message routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and
scalability (time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process
as the first, but it adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this
creates a security issue when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the
sender. TESLA then uses one way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third
implementation requires each node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node
to have certain computational capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming
each commination share a MAC key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know
the authentication key of the TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the
destination source.
Route Discovery consist of two parts: Route Request and Route Reply. Route request message is

Common Sense Explanations And The Explanations Of C....
In this essay I will be exploring the differences between common sense explanations and the
explanations of C. Wright Mills theory of The Sociological Imagination. Common sense is
based on people s personal experiences and their opinions, very often constructed from social
norms and generalised views. Whereas, the Sociological Imagination thought up by sociologist C.
Wright Mills (1959) is based on the ideas of thinking critically and skeptically, in order to think
sociologically. He wrote that in order to do this, we have to understand and grasp the link between
current society and history, personal troubles and public issues. There are three main parts to
Sociological Imagination: social structure, biography and history. In this essay I will set forth the
ways in which each of these approaches would explain the topic of sexuality. I consider sexuality to
be an umbrella term for various features, including sexual orientation, sexual activity, masculinity
/femininity and gender roles. Each of which will be looked at in this essay in order to explore the
topic of sexuality in relation to common sense and the Sociological Imagination.
Sexual orientation is commonly viewed as the term to describe an individual s attraction for others;
who they want to have sex with. This sexual attraction is what s commonly considered to be the
representative of their sexuality. The common sense approach to sexual orientation is well educated
on heterosexuality and the LGBT community. LGBT

When someone thinks about the qualities of a hero, the few that always come to mind are strength,

The Negative Effects of Job Automization In Zuboff’s, “In...
In Zuboff s, In the Age of the Smart Machine the reader develops a sense of how automation of
jobs can have a negative effect on the employees if implementation of new technology is not
done properly. Both the automation of the mill and the automation of the global bank had some
similarities. Both organizations went from a more oral and action on type of task to more of a
data centered task. We can see this clearly form Zuboff s examples. At the pulp mill, workers
were used to making rounds and checking the pulp consistency, which at that point the workers
would make a decision if they need to open or close a valve. This hands on task transitioned into
a more data reading and monitoring task, which was something that the workers were not
specifically trained for. Instead, mill workers had to be able to read the indicators and know the
consistency of the pulp. Like the pulp mill, the global bank ran into a similar problem. At the
global bank, workers communicated with one another and passed around documents for
verification. For example, a clerk would hand a document to a loan approver with the necessary
information and the loan approver would check the documents and make a decision if the loan
should be approved or not. Once the decision is made, the loan approver would hand the document
back to the clerk. In other words, employees used each other to transfer documents through
communicationand the physical action. The automation took all the communicating

Symbol Of The Great Seal In The 13 Colonies
Did you know that the great seal has many hidden symbols? The great seal has many symbols
relating to the first 13 colonies. In this report I will talk about the design of the great seal, the
symbols in the great seal, and what is the great seal used for. The great seal if a sign of freedom
and hope from when we broke off from the British. In 1776 on July 4th the constitution had a
committee design a seal to represent the country s independence. The were three committees before

The Anti-Hero In 1984 And The Party
Firstly, both novels share a dystopian and tyrannical setting. In 1984, the people of Oceania are
prohibited from speaking out against The Party , and many wouldn t dare to do so from the
threat of violent and potentially fatal retribution from the Thought Police. There are no actual
laws, which allows the Party to instil any policy whenever it desires with Big Brother s best
interest in mind, so that they can easily influence and in many cases command their people. In
CWO, the police are ruthless, immoral men, however crimes like robbery and rape are frequent
because although the society is brutally controlled, Alex and his gang spend their evenings
rebelling an anarchic, riotous way much like other gangs in the novel. This highlights the
difference in the characterisation of the anti hero in each novel, because although both novels are
both set in a similar society in 1984 Winston rebels in a secretive manner with a private diary and
surreptitious sexual encounters with Julia, whereas in a clockwork orange Alex is... Show more

Sweet Home Vs. 124 Bluestone Road
Throughout the beginning of Beloved, it is apparent the two major settings of the novel, Sweet
Home and 124 Bluestone Road, are two different worlds the characters strive to keep separated,
especially those who lived in both places. When the past of Sweet Home threatens the freedom
of 124 Bluestone, the daily routines and relationships are compromised. This image of the past
threatening the present reoccurs, but it is especially evident when Paul D tells Sethe about Helle
s insanity after witnessing her attack. Through Sethe s viewpoint, the scene exploits how
dangerous the past is to the present world of the characters. After Paul D tells Sethe about the bit
he had to wear at Sweet Home, she realizes: He wants to tell me...He wants me to ask him what it
was like for him (Morrison 71). This opening of the past terrifies Sethe; however, as she looks at
his face she sees: In that unlit daylight his face, bronzed and reduced to its bones, smoothed her
heart down (71). With this invitation, Paul D discloses how he felt seeing the rooster, Mister,
watching him from the top of a tub: Mister, he looked so...free. Better than me. Stronger, tougher.

Stem Cells In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
The book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is arguably one of the most well known books ever
written. What many people don t realize is with modern technology humans might not be far from
creating artificial life. Through research involving STEM cells and designer babies we are near the
point of creating parts of the human body. The problem is, seemingly immutable laws have
restricted scientists abilities to study STEM cells. The unremitting battle between the two sides is
what holds this country back from reaching its full health potential.

Whistle-blowing in Auditing
Question 1
Introduction
At the start of this century, unprecedented collapses of Enron and WorldCom have sparked
heated world discussions over corporate whistle blowing. In light of this, legislations and
professional codes of conduct are implemented to provide framework on ethical and financial
decision making particularly for auditors. This essay covers prerequisites for an effective
corporate whistle blower hotline, measures to avoid potential pitfalls, as well as analysis on
benefits and drawbacks of having a whistle blower hotline.
Whistle blower Hotline
What is it?
By incorporating the concepts of whistle blower of Alford (2001, p.17) and Bok (1980, p.277) into
auditing, whistle blower hotline is a communication system which ... Show more content on

Prerequisites for Procedures of
Handling Claims for Effective Hotline
In Combined Code on Corporate Governance July 2003 (The Combined Code) issued by Institute
of Chartered Accountants in England Wales (ICAEW), whistle blowing procedures are formal steps
taken by the Audit Commission when concerns regarding malpractice in the corporation are raised.
Audit Commission should review corporate arrangements and carry out investigations, and make
recommendations to Board of Directors. Audit Commission should follow chronologically the five
steps in handling claims stated below.

Introduce Multiple Easily accessed Channels of Communication
Corporations usually establish both internally and externally a confidential toll free telephone
hotline, email address and message boxes on official website which allow whistle blowers staying
nameless. (Devine and Maassarani 2011, p.271) The hotline should be easily accessible as
stakeholders range from employees, clients, suppliers to members of the public. It should be
operated at all times so that whistle blowers do not face time restriction in reporting suspected
wrongdoings. Hence, multiple channels allow whistle blowers to choose the most

Same Sex Marriage Defies the Laws of Christianity

major pressures it puts on people is the pressure of homosexuality and whether it is right or wrong.
Homosexuality is on the rise in the United States as well as many other countries around the world.
Along with the rise of homosexuality is the rise of marriages that are taking place in these socially
incorrect relationships. Throughout the country and in other countries there has been a numerous

Heterosexual marriage has also been known as the best environment for the upbringing of
children. Studies show that most children who are brought up in a household with a mother and a
father are more productive in school and their social life. The environment which offers children
the best opportunity to achieve optimal development is one comprised of their biological mother
and father or a married male and female. It is in the child s best interest that this environment be
fostered and protected. Children do best when they have the personal involvement and material
support of a father and a mother and when both parents fulfill their responsibility to be loving
providers. Studies also show that children brought up in homosexual households have the
tendency to have more problems in school, work, and finding friends who don t look at them
differently. Children have a fundamental liberty interest in receiving the care, companionship and
society of both of their natural parents. At birth, a child has no material possessions and no hope
of independent survival. Whether it is biological, or psychological, the bilateral bond that unites a
mother and father to their child is all that ensures its survival. A child s adolescent years are very

Western Desert Art Analysis
This last winter I was lucky enough to have the chance to spend more than a month in New South
Wales, Australia. All around the cities in New South Wales I saw many pieces of art that I found
absolutely fascinating. All of these paintings seemed so simple, but the more I learned about them I
realized there was lot of history in these paintings. The Style I became most interested in was the
Western Desert Art, how it is evolving, the many emerging styles of it, and its many collections.
This art movement emerged from the Aboriginal settlement of Papunya in the Northern Territory of
Australiain the early 1970s. In 1971 the art teacher posted in the village Geoffrey Bardon,

The Australasian system of legal practice is derived from the United Kingdom which is from the
British settlers in Australia. The legislations laws are formulated by the legislators which is the
parliament of the state and the commonwealth countries. The law of the state must be consistent
with the laws of the commonwealth. It means that any law that is not consistent with the
commonwealth law in Australia is rendered invalid. This presents a significant impact on the
same sex marriage debate. Before the changes in the Marriage Act, the definition of the term
marriage was derived from the UK case. The common law is administered by the courts. The
courts are bound by the principles of precedent which requires the court to adhere to the previous
decisions of superior courts. This brings consistency and prediction in the practice of the common
law. Marriage is Australia governed by the Commonwealth marriage Act of 1961 that defines
marriage as the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into
for life. The constitution gives power to the commonwealth to come up with laws on marriage
which it shares with the states. There must be vows or exchange of words for a marriage in
addition to all other recognized ceremonies of different religion.
Same sex marriage is recognized as de facto unions in the federal laws of Australia. However each
state and territory in Australia is entitled

The Human Heart
The human heart is slightly bigger than the size of ones fist. It is situated at a very safe place
which is between the cage bones, i.e., in the center of the chest. Usually it is slightly on the left
side of the chest but in rare cases, it can be found on the right side. Heart is responsible for the
blood flow to every single part of the body by constant contraction and relaxation of cardiac
muscles. This is the reason why we hear rhythmic beats all the time. Heartpumps the pure blood to
the different parts of the body and then takes the deoxygenated blood from all the parts to the
lungs for oxygenation. Normally in a minute the heart beats 72 times. Well, let s check out heart

This maintains a proper one directional blood flow through out the process. Bicuspid valve is
present between the left atrium and left ventricle whereas tricuspid valve is present between the
right atrium and right ventricle. Pulmonary valve behaves as a gate which stops the back flow of
blood from right ventricle to the pulmonary artery which takes the deoxygenated blood to the
lungs for purification. Lastly the aortic valve, this valve plays an important role in stopping the
back flow of the blood from left ventricle to the aorta. Once the blood is transferred to the aorta it
supplies the oxygenated blood to different parts of the body.
Blood Vessels
Blood vessels are the blood carriers in a human body. These play a very vital role in the supply
of blood to various parts of the body. Blood vessels can be of two types, veins and arteries. All
the veins (except pulmonary vein) are involved in carrying the deoxygenated blood from various
parts of the body to the heart whereas all the arteries (except pulmonary artery) are involved in
supplying oxygenated blood from the heart to different parts of the body.
Functioning of the Heart

we need oxygen to survive, but have you ever thought how this oxygen is supplied to different
parts of the body? This work is done with the help of heart. Heart plays a very important role in the

Inside Out, And Its Director Pete Docter
Do you ever look at someone and wonder, What is going on inside their head? This is the first
question asked in animated film, Inside Out, and its director Pete Docter s mind after noticing
his daughter s personality changing as she grew up. Using his daughter as inspiration, Pete
Docter pitched the idea to Pixar studios where it was picked up immediately for production in
2009. He consulted with numerous child psychologists to create the movie about 11 year old
girl, Riley Anderson, moving from Minnesota to San Francisco and her personified emotions to
guide her through. Because Pixar s movies are family friendly, the film s crew cleverly used color
and creative mise en scene to tell the elaborate story between Riley s mind, the world around her,
and other character s personality traits. The director has an extremely flexible medium due to the
fact that the film is an animation, having full control of the character s design, setting, lighting,
effects, and anything in between. It displays all throughout the movie, causing a great contrast,
when shifting from a character s mind to their environment, mainly being Riley. Through a series
of montages and flashbacks of Minnesota, the audience can see that the scenes are always lighted
in pastel like color, This is to represent Riley s comfort of her former home in contrast of San
Francisco which is depicted in desaturated colors. Furthermore, the animator s choice of color and
lighting for both Minnesota and San Francisco

Analysis Of The Book The Game The Oregon Trail
In the game The Oregon Trail, the player tries to make the journey west for gold without their
character dying. Just like the game portrays, the trail was a grueling journey to follow a dream.
The trail was a game of reality for families moving west. The dream of striking gold and being rich.
Women tagged along with their husbands on their journey for gold. The journey was long and
difficult, often leading to injuries and death. While on the journey women kept a feminine
demeanor even though being faced with many difficulties and having immense responsibilities and
constant fear.
Women went on the Oregon trail to follow their husbands. Land to the west was a new
opportunity for families to have financial freedom and a new start. The west meant new
opportunities and a way to get out of debt. Catherine Haun and her husband, middle class and
educated, fell into financial hard times. They wanted to go on the journey to get out of their
debt. They felt as if heading west would be a firmer way to make money than the ways they tried
in the past: It was a period of National hard times and we being financially involved in our
business interest near Clinton, Iowa, longed to go to the new El Dorado and pick up gold enough
with which to return and pay off our debts (Haun 166) (Sic). As well as the financial benefit, the

Social Message In The Sun Rising
Take me to church contains a strong social message that criticizes centralized religion and its
desire to oppress the true nature of men and women. In fact, Hozier defies the idea of the original
sin and argues that our sinful nature is what makes us human. He uses rhetorical devices such as
apostrophe, allusion and oxymoron in order to mock centralized religionand define human s sinful
pleasures as the pinnacles of our virtue.
Hozier demonstrates his humanistic point of view in the chorus, where he explicitly criticizes
centralized church and God himself. In order to express his anger, the speaker uses a rhetorical
trope called apostrophe. Since it takes strength to address a deity, the apostrophe serves to exhibit
humans bravery and self reliance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Perks Of Being A Wallflower By Stephen...
What is a wallflower? The definition varies widely, but it is generally used to describe an
individual that is shy and fades into the background while observing everything around them.
Wallflowers tend to have a highly developed outlook on life a more in depth understanding of the
things going on around them, and deeper friendships. They tend to express themselves more freely
and are sometimes unpredictable in their actions and conversations. The book The Perks of Being a
Wallflower by Stephen Chboskyopens our eyes to the benefits of being a wallflower through
Charlie s experiences. Wallflowers tend to look at the deeper meanings of things. A lot of times
people tend to take things at face value because they don t have time or have no interest in digging
deeper into their meanings. Charlie definitely takes the time to consider the actual meanings of

Polygamy in the United States
Polygamy is the practice of having multiple spouses at one time, and has been considered a
controversial social and legal topic in society, gaining attention as a subject in which multiple
opinions are held. As the topic has become a part of mainstream culture through media accounts of
polygamist families by news outlets and reality television, confusion has emerged in reference to its
main characteristics and legitimacy as a form of marriage. However, this kind of marriage is
intriguing because it enters more than two individuals into the union, potentially causing a change
in husband wife dynamics. In particular, polygamywith multiple wives proves to be more common
in media accounts of these relationships. That being said, appreciating this form of marriage, as in
any union, requires an understanding of how the different social players behave and the general
interactions of the husband wife relationships. Likewise, it is important to understand how this type
of union exemplifies the typical United States ideals of marriage. With more information regarding
polygamist marriages, society can better understand its similarities and differences from normative
patterns, ultimately eliminating some of the stigma placed on the husbands and wives of these
relationships.

Abortions Should Be Illegal In The United States

Abortions should be illegal in the United States. Abortions have been occurring since the 1800`s.
They were banned in the 1880 s except to save the life of the women. However, the Supreme Court
ruled in 1973, in the case Roe vs Wade that abortion is legal in the first trimester. I disagree with
this ruling because it is morally wrong. Secondly, every human being must be responsible for their
actions. Lastly, there are many options available to prevent becoming a parent. We have to right to

Plate Tectonics Research Paper
Have you ever wondered why our continents are in the positions that they are in today? Plate
Tectonics can be used to explain the movement of the plates and the landforms they make. These
landforms include mountains, volcanoes, rift valleys, and much more that are made by convergent
and divergent boundaries. The plates are moved by the convection currents below the surface
which is caused by a heat source, the mantle. Another landform that is made is a mid ocean ridge,
at which sea floor spreading is taken place, and allows magma to rise and harden on the ocean floor.
Two different types of landforms that form at convergent boundaries are mountains and volcanoes.
Mountains, such as Mount Everest and K2, are formed when two continental plates collide, which
causes the landforms to rise. Volcanoes, such as Mount Saint Helens and Mount Fuji, forms when
the more dense oceanic plate subducts under the less dense continental plate and is driven down
into the hot asthenosphere. Subducted plate melts due to extreme heat and friction. Melted plate
rises up through the crust, where it reaches the surface and cools. Those weak spots allow the
magma to come out, forming into lava. There are also volcanic island arcs, which form when two
oceanic plates collide, and continental volcanic arcs, which forms when an ... Show more content on

Mid Ocean Ridges, such as the Mid Atlantic Ridge, are formed when two oceanic plates move
away from each other, allowing magma to rise up from inside the Earth. The magma reaches the
bottom of the ocean, turns into lava and cools, forming new rock. This cycle continues constantly
spreading the sea floor and adding new material along this chain of mountains. Rift Valleys, such as
Baikal Rift Valley, are formed when two continental plates move away from each other, stretching
out the crust, until it begins to break. As crust is stretched wider, the valley drops

  • 2. The Indium Scan Test Essay examples Who would have thought we would be using nuclear substances for medical purposes? Well, we are many different ways. I am going to discuss a test called the Indium Scan; this test requires the use of nuclear substances being injected into the blood stream via an IV. The amount of Indium that is giving is based on the patient and what the doctor feels as appropriate. What is Indium you may ask? Indium is an element. It has a classification name of metal. Indium was named for the Indigo line of spectrum and came from the Latin word indicum. There are 23 different types of Indium isotopes however only two are natural. Indium is also found in zinc, iron and lead. Indium is used for many reasons such as low melting point alloys, as well as many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First the patient s blood is drawn usually mixed with a small amount of substance called Indium 111 isotope, also known as tagging. This test requires around 50 mls of blood. In the second part of the test they inject the cells back into the patient s body through a vein. This is not a contrast. The next day the patient is asked to return for a series of images using a gamma camera. This is a full body scan. This test is done by a nuclear medicine technician. This part usually last between 60 to 90 minutes, this is the final stage of the test. In the case of an infection or abscess the tagged cells will clump to a specific area of the body usually the liver or spleen but also other organs as well. The test has been known to be giving on children in the case of inflammatory bowel disease so the test does not discriminate against age. There have not been enough studies in the case of children and the Indium scan and the effects from it. There are no restrictions or preparation to undergo this test and is painless except for the sharp feeling from the needle however the patient is asked to remain still on the table as if not it may affect the results. The table may be hard and cold, you will not be able to feel the radioactive substance enter your blood stream. The patient may eat regularly as well as drink. The doctor may ask you to stop taking any antibiotics if any prior to testing. There are no known side effects of the test, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Are The Barriers To The Use Of Evidence Based Practice Evidence based practice is the practice of making clinical decisions based off the best available research evidence coupled with the nurse s own expertise, while also taking into account, the patient s assessments and own personal preferences. This use of research has proven effective at providing better outcomes and lower healthcare costs, yet there are several barriers, such as time, education, and support, which prevent nurses from consistently using evidence based practice (AJN, 2012). The top three barriers to the use of evidence based practice are lack of time, education, and support in implementing new practices and using them consistently. One of the main barriers in using evidence based practice is the lack of time in order to implement it into the nurses days. In one study, many respondents said that, both at work and outside of work hours, time was just not there (Brown, Wickline, Ecoff, Glaser, 2009). In another study done many years later, time continued to be a main concern for nurses and that they just didn t feel like it should be expected for them to keep up with the research (Tacia, Biskupski, Pheley, Lehto, 2015). Many of these restraints on time can easily be addressed though. Some issues, such as, short staffing can be fixed, while others would take more work to address, such as, not having enough time at home to research due to familial obligations. Setting aside specific time in the workday for nurse s to research or hiring more nurses in order to split the work load and allow more time in between tasks for research could also be solutions to this specific barrier. Another important barrier is nursing education. Nurses who graduated many years ago were not taught evidence based practice and even current schools focus too much researching rather than how to implement current research into care (AJN, 2012). This lack of knowledge on how to implement may stem from the lack of knowledge on how to read and interpret research data or that nurses might feel overwhelmed due to the fact that there is so much and might not know how to narrow what is important or how to read all of it (Brown et al., 2009). In the Tacia study (2015), advanced care nurses could easily point out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Changing Role Of Women During World War II Changing Role of Women in World War II When Britain declared war against Germany in 1939, the Australian Prime Minister, Robert Menzies, proclaimed that Australia was also at war. The declaration of war saw Australians respond to another world conflict. On this occasion, Australia itself would be under the threat of attack. World War II would not only require young men to travel overseas and fight but it also significantly impacted the lives of Australian women. However, through this experience, women bought long term changes and they had the chance to experience independence which allowed them to discover life long skills. This was one of their many achievements which eventually changed the modern society. As seen in Appendix 1, the AWLA received the newly created Civilian Service Medal 1939 1945 due to their support of the war effort. This undoubtedly indicates that these women were the start of an alteration in Australia for the long term, due to their struggle and achievement. Women in World War II started replacing men in traditional roles, which proved to society that women were capable of work reserved for men. Due to labour shortages and the need for men to fight overseas, the government was forced to allow women to take a more active role. Women had a broad range of duties and responsibilities, most women were trained in many of the home front tasks, subsequently, that more service men could be freed to join the overseas forces, this created new employment opportunities for women (Carrodus et al, 2012, p. 113). Tens of thousands of women joined the Women s Air Force, Naval and Army Services during World War II. (Big Black Dog Communications Pty Ltd, et al, 2009). The paper will also discuss how the input of Roosevelt is still relevant today and how his contributions could support or be expanded for future community and public health benefits. During his reign as US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt realized that his desire to reform the health sector would require the backing of the people for it to pass through Congress. His tenure between 1933 and 1945 was characterized by the Great Depression, World War I, and the New Deal that included the Social Security Bill (Physicians for a National Health Program, 1999). Ad hoc network can be easily set up due to the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network infrastructure (base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem of secure routing protocols for this type of network. Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret keys between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys, and digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established in the network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before message routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and scalability (time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process as the first, but it adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this creates a security issue when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the sender. TESLA then uses one way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third implementation requires each node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node to have certain computational capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming each commination share a MAC key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know the authentication key of the TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the destination source. Wright Mills theory of The Sociological Imagination. Common sense is based on people s personal experiences and their opinions, very often constructed from social norms and generalised views. Whereas, the Sociological Imagination thought up by sociologist C. Wright Mills (1959) is based on the ideas of thinking critically and skeptically, in order to think sociologically. He wrote that in order to do this, we have to understand and grasp the link between current society and history, personal troubles and public issues. There are three main parts to Sociological Imagination: social structure, biography and history. In this essay I will set forth the ways in which each of these approaches would explain the topic of sexuality. I consider sexuality to be an umbrella term for various features, including sexual orientation, sexual activity, masculinity /femininity and gender roles. Each of which will be looked at in this essay in order to explore the topic of sexuality in relation to common sense and the Sociological Imagination. Sexual orientation is commonly viewed as the term to describe an individual s attraction for others; who they want to have sex with. This sexual attraction is what s commonly considered to be the representative of their sexuality. The common sense approach to sexual orientation is well educated on heterosexuality and the LGBT community. LGBT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Zuboff s, In the Age of the Smart Machine the reader develops a sense of how automation of jobs can have a negative effect on the employees if implementation of new technology is not done properly. Both the automation of the mill and the automation of the global bank had some similarities. Both organizations went from a more oral and action on type of task to more of a data centered task. We can see this clearly form Zuboff s examples. At the pulp mill, workers were used to making rounds and checking the pulp consistency, which at that point the workers would make a decision if they need to open or close a valve. This hands on task transitioned into a more data reading and monitoring task, which was something that the workers were not specifically trained for. Instead, mill workers had to be able to read the indicators and know the consistency of the pulp. Like the pulp mill, the global bank ran into a similar problem. At the global bank, workers communicated with one another and passed around documents for verification. For example, a clerk would hand a document to a loan approver with the necessary information and the loan approver would check the documents and make a decision if the loan should be approved or not. Once the decision is made, the loan approver would hand the document back to the clerk. In other words, employees used each other to transfer documents through communicationand the physical action. In 1984, the people of Oceania are prohibited from speaking out against The Party , and many wouldn t dare to do so from the threat of violent and potentially fatal retribution from the Thought Police. There are no actual laws, which allows the Party to instil any policy whenever it desires with Big Brother s best interest in mind, so that they can easily influence and in many cases command their people. In CWO, the police are ruthless, immoral men, however crimes like robbery and rape are frequent because although the society is brutally controlled, Alex and his gang spend their evenings rebelling an anarchic, riotous way much like other gangs in the novel. This highlights the difference in the characterisation of the anti hero in each novel, because although both novels are both set in a similar society in 1984 Winston rebels in a secretive manner with a private diary and surreptitious sexual encounters with Julia, whereas in a clockwork orange Alex is... He consulted with numerous child psychologists to create the movie about 11 year old girl, Riley Anderson, moving from Minnesota to San Francisco and her personified emotions to guide her through. Because Pixar s movies are family friendly, the film s crew cleverly used color and creative mise en scene to tell the elaborate story between Riley s mind, the world around her, and other character s personality traits. The director has an extremely flexible medium due to the fact that the film is an animation, having full control of the character s design, setting, lighting, effects, and anything in between. Plate Tectonics can be used to explain the movement of the plates and the landforms they make. These landforms include mountains, volcanoes, rift valleys, and much more that are made by convergent and divergent boundaries. The plates are moved by the convection currents below the surface which is caused by a heat source, the mantle. Another landform that is made is a mid ocean ridge, at which sea floor spreading is taken place, and allows magma to rise and harden on the ocean floor. Two different types of landforms that form at convergent boundaries are mountains and volcanoes. Mountains, such as Mount Everest and K2, are formed when two continental plates collide, which causes the landforms to rise. Volcanoes, such as Mount Saint Helens and Mount Fuji, forms when the more dense oceanic plate subducts under the less dense continental plate and is driven down into the hot asthenosphere. Subducted plate melts due to extreme heat and friction. Melted plate rises up through the crust, where it reaches the surface and cools.
