Essay Causes Of Poverty. Essay on Poverty Poverty Essay for Students and Children in English ...
1. Essay Causes Of Poverty
Composing an essay on the causes of poverty is a task that demands careful consideration,
extensive research, and a nuanced understanding of socio-economic factors. Delving into the
intricate web of reasons behind poverty requires a deep analysis of historical, political, and
economic contexts. One must navigate through a plethora of factors, such as unequal distribution
of resources, lack of access to education and healthcare, systemic discrimination, and economic
policies that perpetuate disparities.
The difficulty arises from the multifaceted nature of poverty, as it is seldom caused by a single
factor. Instead, it emerges from the interplay of various elements that contribute to the
perpetuation of this social ill. Crafting an essay on this topic involves not only presenting
statistical data and academic theories but also weaving a narrative that humanizes the individuals
affected by poverty. It requires a balance between macro-level analyses and micro-level case
studies to provide a comprehensive view.
Moreover, the writer must grapple with the challenge of maintaining objectivity while discussing
a subject deeply intertwined with human suffering. Addressing the complexities of poverty
necessitates a sensitive and empathetic approach, acknowledging the real-life consequences for
individuals and communities. It requires the ability to communicate the gravity of the issue
without oversimplifying or sensationalizing the circumstances.
Research, therefore, becomes a crucial aspect of the writing process. Gathering information from
reputable sources, staying updated on current events, and consulting a wide range of
perspectives are vital components in constructing a well-rounded and credible essay.
Additionally, the writer must synthesize the acquired knowledge coherently, ensuring that the
essay flows logically and maintains a clear thesis throughout.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the causes of poverty is a challenging endeavor that
demands a combination of research, empathy, and analytical skills. It involves navigating
through a complex web of socio-economic factors, maintaining objectivity while addressing
human suffering, and presenting a comprehensive view of the issue. For those who find the task
daunting, assistance is available through platforms like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays

3. Eastern Orthodoxy And Roman Catholicism
Important to realize, that there are common grounds that allows an interfaith
understanding to take place between Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism. To
emphasize, one doctrine that both the Eastern and Roman Christians agree is on the
seven Sacraments in order to obtain union with God; the seven Sacraments are
Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharistor Communion, Holy Orders, Marriage, penance,
and Holy Unction. Given that, Dr. James P. Eckman explained that Baptism,
however, is the primary sacrament for everything in the church flows out of the
waters of baptism: the remission of sin and life eternal. [4] For both the East and the
West churches baptism is necessary for the salvation of the adults and childs. Another

Background
Little Hans (Herbert Graf) was born in April 1903 to Olga Graf (mother) and Max
Graf (father). He undertook four months of treatment, which was conducted by Hans
father himself, and supervised by Freud, who took somewhat of a backseat. Freud
wanted to explore what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This contributed to Freud s idea of object choice and homosexuality in children
suggesting that most children have homosexual tendencies as they are only
acquainted with one kind of genital organ. Freud intimates that because little Hans
had a widdler, and gave so much importance to it, he chose to have this familiar
feature as his sexual object. It is also important to note that in his future development
he demonstrated an energetic masculinity with traits of polygamy; he knew how to
vary his behaviour, too, with his varying feminine objects audaciously aggressive in
one case, languishing and bashful in another. His affection had moved from his
mother on to other objects of love, but at a time when there was a scarcity of these it
returned to her.
Hans demonstrates elements of the sexual relations of a child to his parents discussed
in Interpretation of Dreams [1900a, in Section D (ОІ) of Chapter V; Standard Ed., 4,
248 ff.] and in Three Essays [1905d, Standard Ed., 7, 222 ff.] with regard to being a

so that he might be alone with his beautiful mother and sleep with her. This wish had
originated during his summer holidays at Gmunden and had developed with the
alternating presence and absence of his father (due to work commitments). Hans

Born in 1952 to a Palestinian father and an American mother of German descent, at
St. Louis, Missouri, Naomi Shihab Nye grew up in a multicultural home
(Lauther,2975). Her biculturalism and her cosmopolitanism are, clearly, a product of
her bi (even multi ) cultural and racial family: a Palestinian father, who is very
conscious and assertive of his roots, a motherwho is very tolerant, and grandparents
on both ends who though they have some tensions regarding place and culture do
ultimately accept it. It is due to these tensions and celebrations, acceptance and some
resistance, that Nye s sense of biculturalism is both complex and unique (Alkhadra, )
She was introduced to the world of writing at an early age. Her father was one of the
6. Johnson Controls s Product Distribution North America (...
For the past ten years, Johnson Controls Product Distribution North America (PDNA)
sales team has been segmented into eight geographic regions that each are responsible
for every distribution channel. The results of the research conducted for this
organizational development project clearly indicate the necessity to realign Johnson
Controls resources in order to achieve a more customer face time with the company s
customers in each specific distribution channel. Under the existing regional structure,
Johnson Controls Account Managers spend a mere 3.8 hours per week in front of
customers, conducting salescalls, product training or making joint sales calls with
distributor salespeople. Major competitors such as Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider
Electric and Emerson spend between 6.5 and 12.2 face time with customers each
week.
Reporting on the findings of a seminar, Keegan (2009) conveyed no matter how
thorough a company s research and marketing efforts are, a company s overall
success often boils down to one very critical function: face to face sales. Product
knowledge, honesty and trustworthiness are important virtues for every salesperson,
but a successful salesperson must navigate through a customer s business to find the
ultimate decision maker. Researching a customer s business, gaining knowledge of
their operation, and listening to their needs is critical to the success of every
salesperson. After every face to face meeting, a salesperson needs to review what
7. Pros And Cons Of The United States Air Force
1. The purpose of this paper is to represent the position on why the United States
Air Force (USAF) should bring Warrant Officers (WO) back into service to fly
unmanned aircraft. First, a positive of having WOs would be to quickly fill the
current manning shortage in the Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) community
because more Airmen would qualify only needing a two year degrees. However,
the current solution is to push more cadets through Officer Training School (OTS)
to fly RPAs. This will fix the manning shortage over time while also fitting the
current USAF structure. On the other hand, another positive of WOs flying RPAs
in the USAF would be saving money. After an overview, one has to understand the
current demographics of the USAF. 2. Today, the USAF needs 200 more drone
pilots to keep up with the current mission requirements.1 One area to pull the RPA
pilots from is the enlisted corp. The USAF currently has 248,317 Enlisted, of that
25.1 percent have associate s degrees and only 8.5 percent have bachelor s
degrees.2 Statistically the USAF has 16.6 percent more enlisted personnel with an
associates degree than personnel with bachelors degrees. If the USAF allowed WOs
with an associate s degree to fly RPAs, it would make an additional 41,220 enlisted
personnel available to apply. Next, one needs to understand the current... Show more

The current solution is to increase commissioning thought USAF OTS. In 2016, OTS
is expected to admit 1,100 cadets into the USAF officer commissioning program.3 In
comparison, OTS only accepted 550 cadets in 2015.4 This solution allows the USAF
to keep the current command structure and invest little money and time in
reorganizing new WO command structure. Also, field grade officers can fill other
staff jobs, while WOs cannot. The USAF would save some money not changing the
current manning structure. Also commissioned officers have more leadership
training than a typical WO. Despite that, the USAF would save more accepting
8. Personal Education Philosophy
The purpose of this paper is to identify my personal educational philosophy. Every
student is unique in their own way, and should be given an opportunity to learn in an
environment that fosters mental, emotional, social, and physical development. It is
my duty as a health and physical educator to provide an environment conducive to
learningthat is relevant, engaging, and a challenging experience for all my students
despite their physical abilities. A monist views the mind and body as one. As the
book states, physical activity is equally as important as intellectual activity pertaining
to the mind and body relationship (Wuest Fisette, 2012).The purpose of physical
educationis to teach the whole student, not just their body. It is my belief that we
learn from our personal experiences. I am firm believer in John Dewey s approach
that we learn by doing . Therefore, after reading the text my professional philosophy
derives from the pragmatic and humanistic philosophies. Pragmatism: According to
the text, a pragmatist believes that experiences not ideals or realities are the basis of
the truth (Wuest Fisette, 2012). Throughout my life, I have always had someone

9. Iron Age Celts Research Paper
Iron Age Celts of the 1st Century
Homes:
Brythonic Celts is the name given to the Celts who occupied Britain during the Iron
Age, and they were a people fragmented and separated into several different tribes
all across Britain. Each Tribe had its own king that lead and governed them, as
opposed to being one, single united body.
Tribes of Celts would often protect themselves in cases of battle against enemies in
something known as a Hill Fort, which was, of course, situated on top of a hill they
were defensive settings, as living at the top of the hill gave them the advantage in
battle of seeing their enemies approach and being able to prevent them as they
climbed up the hill. However, it is suspected that these were not permanent
accommodations and may have been used as assembly points for tribes to
withstand a short siege, as they contained no sources of water. The sizes of these
Hill Forts would vary; while some where only capable of containing one or two
families, others were able to house many more. It also depended upon whether they
were built to defend themselves from attacking tribes, or invading the ... Show more

We know that their walls were made of Wattle and Daub Interwoven sticks and
twigs that were covered with mud or clay, however they could often include other
substances such as wet soil, clay, sand and animal excrement. This may have been
because the daubed walls kept the heat in and the wind out. The only sources of
light or heat came from a fireplace often placed in the center of the room, and an
open door during the day. The fire would have been used to cook their food, and it

10. Theme Of No Name Woman
A common theme in both stories The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins
Gilman and No Name Woman by Maxine Hong Kingston is sexism and how some
women struggle to find voices in chauvinist societies. The narrator in The Yellow
Wallpaper has a husband that is very controlling and she must fight against the rigid
role of housewife imposed upon her. In No Name Womanthe narrator describes her
aunt who is severely punished by her village for being impregnated by a mysterious
man. Both stories demonstrate struggles that are exclusive to women, while
illuminating the destruction that occurs to these women because of the oppression
they receive from men. The women in the stories suffered because of their sexist
societies. Thus these stories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator laments, there comes John, and I must put this away, he hates to have
me write a word (Gilman 3). In other words, the narrator is not free to ask as she
pleases and is forced to write in secret because her husband will be angry. This proves
that her husband limits her actions while illuminating the hierarchical nature of their
marriage. He is also taking away her freedom to decide who she is because he is
forcing her to only be a housewife when she really wants to be a writer. The
narrator expresses, I did write for a while in spite of them; but it does exhaust me a
good deal having to be so sly about it, or else meet with heavy opposition (2).
Basically, it s not the act of writing that is tiring, it is hiding from her husband that
exhausts her. This shows that she would be much happier if her husband would
cease his controlling behavior. The narrator states, I lie down ever so much
now...Indeed he started the habit by making me lie down for an hour after each
meal (10). In other words, her husband has limited her options so much that all she
can do is lay in bed all day. This oppressive treatment leads the narrator to act in

11. Similarities Between Krapp And Waiting For Godot

ENGL 3000
Professor Richard Joines

Play Analysis
Samuel Beckett s plays illustrate the concepts of existentialism, such as identity,
authenticity, and anxiety. A primary idea throughout Beckett s plays is the
character s need to do something in order to feel fulfilled. This provides a false
sense of purpose, and some characters are aware that they are just going through the
motions, whereas others are not. The two plays that I will be using to develop this
idea are Krapp s Last Tape and Waiting for Godot, with Krapp representing the former
type of character and Vladmir the latter. Include our innate need for companionship,
which is shown in both plays, in Krapp s Last Tape through the lack of companionship

He maintains the facade that he is improving upon himself by making these tapes,
but in reality he uses them to fuel his self pity. The scene is set in his office, which is
completely dark, as is described in the tape from when Krapp was 39:
With all this darkness round me I feel less alone. [Pause.] In a way. [Pause.] I love
to get up and move about in it, then back here to [hesitates]...me. [Pause.] Krapp.
He is incapable of feeling fulfillment in himself because the only aspect of his life
he derives happiness from is his past, but this also makes him feel an intensely
negative sense of nostalgia. In addition to Krapp s tapes showing no indications of
self improvement in his mental health, they also show that his poor physical health
has remained the same. When Krapp listens through his old tapes, the version of him
in the present and the version of him in the past perform the same actions. For
example, Krapp states in the tape that he has eaten three bananas and with difficulty
refrained from a fourth, and which were bad for his health, and Krapp was eating a
second banana while listening to the tape.
Similarly, the way that Vladmir and Estragon try to find a sense of purpose is through
their waiting in vain for Godot. They do this in spite of their uncertainty about the
meeting place, the time, and

The museum was a complex rather than one building. The complex was surrounded
by a black metal fence. The main building itself maintained its original style. In the
late 1920s, the area was build as the Southern Pacific Depot freight line. It ran from
Brownsville to Edinburg until 1952. Then, the loading/unloading building began
restoration to become a museum. Finally, the Historic Brownsville Museum opened
its doors in 1986. The complex contained three buildings: the main culture building, a
transportation gallery, and the educational building. The main culture building
included artifacts in different categories. The first room was the information desk and

American Nurses Association and Lead Poisoning and Screening The American
Nurses Associations (ANA) is an organization cherished by most, if not all
registered nurses. It is an organization that aims to improve the nursing career by
offering opportunities on building nurses rights, practices, and views by the
public. ANA is a representation of all nurses and acts as their voice in better
improving the profession and revolving issues (American Nurses Association
[ANA], 2016). The American Nurses Associations mission statement is as follows:
Nurses advancing our profession to improve health for all (ANA, 2016). One issue
that the ANA is trying to settle is the increasing amounts of pediatric deaths due to
lead poisoning. ANA supports lead poisoning prevention activities to reduce
children s blood lead levels to 10 micrograms per deciliter of whole blood (ANA,
2016). It also supports screening activities to better catch this poisoning before it
becomes deadly. Lead poisoning is very preventable among children and with support
from the ANA; the United Statescould put a stop to this health issue. This paper will
discuss how the ANA is governed, the legislative agenda, the issue of lead poisoning
that they are pursuing to eliminate, how the agenda is communicated, and
partnerships with coalitions.

15. Literary Devices In Amadeus
The music in Amadeus has been beyond the simple role as a background of the
movie and greatly influenced the flow of the narrative in the film. The movie
Amadeus arouses realism and immersion in the life of Mozart which is glorious
but miserable at the same time by appropriately arranging the narrative of the film
with Mozart s great music. In other words, the soundtrack of the film composed by
Mozart works as the important dramatic device to describe Mozart s life, the main
theme of the movie ordinary people s jealousy of genius and the relationship
between God and humans in further. First of all, the Mozart s music in Amadeus
is used to vividly illustrate the overall life of Mozart and the situation in which
Mozart s was in when he composed his music. The film Amadeus is based on the
play of the same title written by Peter Shaffer which is created depending on the
rumor floating around Vienna in the 1820s that Salieri poisoned Mozart. Even
though it is revealed that the rumor, which says, Mozart s death is related to Salieri,
is not true by several historical researches, still Amadeus depicts fictional life of
Mozart in realistic way with appealing and enthrallment that the plot has. In addition
to the narrative s high level of immersion, the works of Mozart, which are properly

In the film, Mozart is illustrated as the character which always has the fear of the
presence of a father. This trait of Mozart in Amadeus is based on the real
relationship between Mozart and Leopold. In reality, Mozart had never received
formal education. Instead, he was only educated by his father until he became an
adult. (S.Y. Lee) Upon historical researches about real Mozart, it is not surprising
why Mozart in Amadeus is portrayed like a child dependent on his father
16. Cervical Potenosis Paper
To understand cervical spinal stenosis, one must understand the process of disc
degeneration and the effect it has on your spine. As people age, the disc between the
vertebra begin to lose a percentage of its water contact, thus effecting its ability to
absorb shock. At first, the changes occur in the annulus of the disc (Cervical Spinal
Stenosis, 2013). These tears in the outer ring of the disc might not caused any
symptoms and heal by the formation of scar tissue. However, if this scar tissue is
repeatedly subject to tears, it wears down and loses all its ability to absorb shock.
The disc then begins to collapse, causing the space between each vertebrato become
smaller and smaller. This shifting of vertebra causes abnormal pressure on the

This thickening causes bone spurs to develop. These bone spurs could begin to
encroach on the nerves on the spine, causing a narrowing of the foramen. This
narrowing of foramen is call spinal stenosis. However, if the body spurs start to place
pressure on the spinal canal, cervical myelopathy can begin to take place (Cervical
Spinal Stenosis, 2013). There is usually narrowing of one, or more, of three areas of
the spine. One area is the canal of the spinal cord, where the nerves roots also run.
The second area would be the canals branching out from the spinal cord that the
roots of the nerves expand from. The third area affected would be the opening
between the vertebra, where the nerves leave the spine and go to the rest of the body

CLAUDIUS PTOLEMY
Claudius Ptolemaeus (Ptolemy) was an influential Greco Roman astronomer who
made important contributions to the sciences in his lifetime during the first century.
He contributed to the studies of astronomy, cartography, and optics. Ptolemy
developed the eventually disproven Geocentric theory, which falsely claimed that the
earth was the center of the solar system, and that the other planets and the sun
orbited around it. Regardless, his scientific contributions were influential for
centuries to come, and formed the basis for the astronomy of the middle ages. He is

heavily dismissed by the modern scientific community, although it experiences
fluctuating popularity throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. During the Dark Ages
and Middle Ages, astrology was seen as a canonical and very real science. The
Roman Emperors, as well as the Popes, and various European and Middle Eastern
monarchs had a personal court astrologer. They would seek the astrologer s council

In Shakespeare s rendition of the poem, The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet
by Arthur Brooke, there lies an epic story filled with tragedy and romance. This
play introduces two characters who fall in love at first sight and even decide to be
married the next day. By today s standards, this may be seen as completely absurd and
impractical. The couple even commits suicide in an attempt to reunite with each
other. Even with the sacrifice made, there is no guarantee that their affection would

As it turns out, Romeo and Juliet also fall into that category. In the words of Lord
Capulet, But saying o er what I have said before. My child is yet a stranger in the
world. She hath not seen the change of fourteen years. (1.2.7 9) The reader can
deduct from this that Juliet is just thirteen years old. As it stands, Romeo s age is
not directly stated in the play, and it is arguable that he could be a variety of ages.
Nonetheless, he is young as well, relatively close in age to Juliet. Being that these
two are so young, they have not had as much experience as an adult has. Extreme
hardships, working to earn their keep, and sustaining their own household are things
that these two have not seen the likes of. Certainly, these experiences have a great
potential to change them and their actions. Their judgements and views on life may
be altered as a result of these. Lord Capulet even states that Juliet is a stranger in the
world , implying that she does not know much about how things work. In conclusion,
Romeo and Juliet are so young that their experiences are not significant enough for
them to decide that they should be married just

question whether there were differences between Clinical and Counseling Psychology
Doctoral programs that was advertised by the recruitment materials provided by the
programs. In short, they wanted to see whether the programs advertised themselves
differently. Robert D. Morgan and Lee. M Cohen focused three specialties: Clinical
PhD., Clinical PsyD, and Counseling Psychology programs. In order to find out what
the differences and similarities are, an eight page coding instrument was used to
investigate the program characteristics, faculty characteristics, training requirements
and opportunities, and admission requirements and opportunities the recruitment and
application materials provided. Recruitment and application materials were taken
from 61 counseling psychology programs, and 171 from clinical psychology
programs. This was a total of 230 programs reviews obtained. Each topic investigated
was broken down and evaluated to examine and explain the key differences and
similarities. The study hypothesized that there were very few differences between the
specialties, the program characteristics, student and faculty demographics, and
training requirements.

amount of friction. Alright, a lot of friction. States rights was a huge issue, causing
disagreements in areas such as slavery, tariffs, nullification, even things as seemingly
small as road maintenance. It seemed everything was falling apart.
In the midst of this controversy a slightly smaller one was taking place in the state of
Illinois. The race to the Senate seat is underway and the candidates are Democratic

He believed in popular sovereignty the idea that every state and territory had the
right to decide and make its own laws regarding slavery. He said Now, I hold that
Illinois had a right to abolish and prohibit slavery as she did, and I hold that
Kentucky has the same right to continue and protect slavery that Illinois had to
abolish it. I hold that New York had as much right to abolish slavery as Virginia has
to continue it, and that each and every State of this Union is a sovereign power,
with the right to do as it pleases upon this question of slavery, and upon all its
domestic institutions. He constantly claimed that Lincoln was a abolitionist and
was trying to start a war. We can assume from the different viewpoints and stands
that these would be some strong debates. The results were astonishing. Douglas
was reelected by the legislature, 54 46. Lincoln lost. The biggest reason seemed to
be former Whig Party member John J. Crittenden s endorsement of Stephen
Douglas. The former Whig party compromised a large number of swing voters and
Crittenden s support of Douglas, instead of Lincoln who was also a former Whig,
made Lincoln s win less probable.
All is not lost, however. It seems all these debates have made Lincoln a household
name. Now the whole country knows about him, including the Republican party. So it
turns out that Lincoln becomes the Republican Nominee for the Presidency and he
wins. With

Boom Period in the 1920 America
By the end of the First World War America was regarded as the most powerful and
richest country in the world. In the 1920Вґs the United States economy was booming
with success and increasing prosperity, in which a great deal of Americans, though
certainly not all, shared. This period was also known as the roaring twentiesВґ. With a
plentiful supply of raw materials (e.g. oil and coal) and the policy of isolation and

Cheap labour from an influx in immigrants helped the idea of mass production and
the increase in factories and new industry.
It was not only the car industry that expanded during the 1920s. With the help of the
motor car industry, other industries started to grow, including the steel, rubber,
glass, leather and oil industry. The construction industry grew due to the increase
in traffic on the roads. Other consumer goods used the idea of mass production,
causing a boom in the economy; radio sets, telephones, refrigerators, vacuum
cleaners, washing machines and ovens were all being rapidly manufactured to
serve the needs of the public. These new goods were attractive to the Americans,
resulting in sales rocketing. The ability to buy these goods, was greatly helped by
the introduction of credit facilities hire purchase. This allowed people who could
not afford the whole cost of the product to obtain it by paying for it in instalments
over a certain period of time. Mail order also increased the market for goods into the
more remote areas of America. Also, throughout the 1920s there was a great feeling
of consumer confidence among the American people. Consumer spending was
rocketing, and the stock market was booming as share prices increased.

DRAMA ESSAY
Breanna Burgess
Australian theatre practitioners use various performance styles, techniques and
dramatic conventions to help portray their ideas to their audiences and make them
feel a particular way to the ideas presented in a play. Without the use of these styles,
techniques and conventions it wouldn t be possible for the practitioners to emphasise
their ideas. In the play Ruby Moon Matt Cameron the playwright uses various
techniques such as symbolism, transformational acting, cyclical and episodic
dramatic structure and a fractured fairytale. Ruby Moon was written by Matt
Cameron in 2003. It is a story about a well known tragedy. In Flaming Tree Grove
everything seems to be perfect. A young girl, Ruby Moon... Show more content on

like the baby is still alive; it is possible that the packages sent of mannequin body

Through this play Matt Cameron uses transformational acting as a way to portray
the idea that it is possible for Ray and Sylvie to be playing a sick game with each

Matt Cameron uses this technique that could only be used in theatre to have its full

through this is that we have no conclusion in our own lives, but we can find solace

The play is episodic. Tension builds throughout each scene so that the audience can

28. How Does Ingsoc Maintain Freedom In 1984 By George
Orwell
In Nineteen Eighty Four, by George Orwell, the government of Oceania implements
Newspeak as a way to control the public s language and thoughts. To support my
argument, I will first examine why Ingsoc would regulate this part of life in Oceania,
and what benefits this action offers to the party. For the second section, I will
examine how Ingsoc subtly destroys social interactions with language limitation.
Then, in the subsequent section I will be addressing how the governmentof Oceania
effectively rewrites history to benefit itself while using Newspeak. In the fourth
section, I will contradict some of the justifications for simplifying language, and how
over simplification can potentially be detrimental to humans. And the final section
will discuss how Ingsoc maintains power through generational indoctrination, and
how reality is controlled by the minds of the people. Overall, the implementation of
Newspeak, by Ingsoc, was completely successful in controlling the speech and
thoughts of the citizens of Oceania.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outcome of full implementation over generations was planned to make an
ignorant population. Ultimately it was hoped to make articulate speech issue from
the larynx without involving the higher brain centers at all. (Orwell 311) By
distancing speech from the mind, it would be harder for an individual to potentially
express thoughts that contradicted party positions. These thoughts become
problematic to the party when citizens are able to share them with each other. As
such, to maintain power, it is in the party s interest to sever communication between

Allusions to Vampires in Mang Minno In Mang Minno , a short story within
Where The Elephants Dance by Tess U Holthe , a young boy named Roman

fish, so that he can show them to his father. He thinks that all he is getting himself

However, he soon finds that he is getting involved in something far more sinister. As
the story progresses, it becomes clear the Mang Minno is some sort of evil entity.

These clues are the most direct in the story, they take traits directly from vampire folk
lore and superimpose them on Mang Minno.
Mang Minno s attitude and aura are both also similar to that of a vampires; rather
vile and dark. His aura is well illustrated with the following examples: His voice is
described as having an unsettling effect on Roman: The bitterness of his voice
touched me like fingers of the dead (81). This simile, referring to the dead, shows
that Roman may subconsciously be aware of what Mang Minno is. After all,
vampires are regarded as not being truly alive, but being life forces of the deceased.
Mang Minno s eyes are described as glowing (90), when Roman sees him from the
boat he is riding with Aurora (Mang Minno s daughter). Mang Minno s attitude is
also illustrated by way of the disdainful comments he makes about church:
In church, does it ever seem to you a kind of game? Hypocritical. Be humble, they
say, yet people come in their best clothes. Give penance, yet as they close their eyes
and kneel, they compare who is better dressed, the beauty of someone else s wife, the
sway of her hips, they think of anything but prayers.
(96)
This attitude is vile and dark, which Roman sees. It also fits in with the accounts of
Mang Minno being a devil worshiper, he would obviously be against God and
churches. All of the above demonstrates Mang Minno s

This essay will be relating to an episode of care that was provided to a woman, her
partner and their baby on day five during the postnatal period. It will examine the
role of the midwife in relation to breastfeeding and how this was not achieved in
the case study which is shown in the appendix. Throughout the essay it will look at
the following outcomes: the role and responsibility of the midwife within current
maternity care provision, the importance of sensitive midwifery, key legal and
ethical dimensions of the midwife s role and key sociological and psychological
agendas impacting on current maternity care. In today s society, the midwife has
more roles and responsibilities than ever before. A midwife is someone who has to
be able to provide women with the essential care, supervision and advice during
their pregnancy, labour and postpartum period, and to care for both mother and
child (International Confederation for Midwives 2011). As autonomous
practitioners, they act as an advocate for the woman by supporting her and
encouraging her to make her own independent decisions (Royal College of
Midwives 2008). Midwives care for families from different social, psychological
and physical backgrounds and work as part of a multi professional team so excellent
communication is vital. The number of women with complex social and physical
needs such as drug and alcohol misuse are increasing, and a midwife needs to adapt to
these situations and communicate effectively (Midwifery
31. Determinants of Capital Structure
Assignment No. 2
Determinants of capital structure
In finance, capital structure refers to the way a corporation finances its assets through
some combination of equity, debt, or hybrid securities. A firm s capital structure is
then the composition or structure of its liabilities. Simply, capital structure refers to
the mix of debt and equity used by a firm in financing its assets. The capital structure
decision is one of the most important decisions made by financial management. The
capital structure decision is at the center of many other decisions in the area of
corporate finance. These include dividend policy, project financing, issue of long

Jensen (1986) suggests that this problem can be somehow controlled by increasing
the stake of managers in the business or by increasing debt in the capital structure,
thereby reducing the amount of free cash available to managers.
Harris and Reviv (1990) gave one more reason of using debt in capital structure.
They say that management will hide information from shareholders about the
liquidation of the firm even if the liquidation will be in the best interest of
shareholders because managers want the perpetuation of their service. Similarly,
Amihud and Lev (1981) suggest that mangers have incentives to pursue strategies
that reduce their employment risk. This conflict can be solved by increasing the use
of debt financing since bondholders will take control of the firm in case of default
as they are powered to do so by the debt indentures. Stulz (1990) said when
shareholders cannot observe either the investing decisions of management or the cash
flow position in the firm, they will use debt financing. Managers, to maintain
credibility, will over invest if it has extra cash and under invest if it has limited cash.
Stulz (1990) argued that to reduce the cost of underinvestment and overinvestment,
the amount of free cash flow should be reduced to

Society uses symbolic interactionismthrough interacting on an everyday basis by

Peter speaks to the principal and says back in my home town there is a huge
hearing community and they are in charge and give them orders, but they do not
understand our deaf culture. There was a lot of deaf awareness in Maryland. Peter
mentioned that he feels inspired there. He said when I am in the deaf world I feel
safe, when I am in the hearing world I feel like I m locked up in jail, and held back
. So Peter and his wife decided to move to Maryland. What is particularly
interesting in both of these scenes and what we have learned throughout the course
is that there is an emotional significance to identification because our self esteem is
bound by identification and a sense of belonging. With this, we are always
comparing ourselves with other groups, and the reason that we do this is to
maintain our self esteem. Once two groups identify themselves as separate, and
rivals, and then they start to compete in order to maintain our sense of self and self
esteem. This is one of the key aspects when understanding the self and social
identity. There are two rivals here, one is the deaf world, and another is the
hearing world. Peter had stated before that in his hometown he feels that the
hearing world is in charge and they give orders. This is just one example of how
Peter is visibly threatened by the hearing world. His identity is being deaf. So the
natural decision for him and his family would be to move to a town which has a
better understanding and acceptance of deaf culture which specifically relates to the
deaf identity that Peter and his Family

In contrast, to laissez faire leadership, transactional leadership includes clear
directions or processes that employees are required to follow. In addition,
transactional leadership holds the employees accountable for their actions despite the
fact that the directions were provided to them. (Odumeru, Ifeanyi, 2013) While this
leadershipstyle has its advantages, it also has some disadvantages. There have been
many studies on transactional leadership and the style has displayed many positive
attributes. The first positive attribute is employee motivation. Since this leadership
style is built on rewards and punishments, it has been found to be effective in
motivating employees to be productive. For example, the reward that is promised...

If employees go against these policies, it may result in undesirable actions, like
being suspended or even terminated. A transactional leader instructs employees on
exactly what to do and how to do it. This type of leader does not tolerate criticisms
or disobedience of any kind. Because of this rigor, the leader generally does not
adjust to a given situation or take suggestions from employees which can limit
creativity. Since transactional leaders manage their employees by providing a set
of rules that must be followed, employee emotions are not taken into consideration
as long as goals are met. This can result in employees that are not only disinterested
about the well being of the company, but are also strictly performing a given task to
get the promised award. However, the transactional leadership style remains an
acceptable style because the carrot and stick philosophy can motivate employees get
the job done. However, this style, also has many critics because of the way it directs
its employees performance and hinders the employees from developing leadership
skills and does not inspire any creativity. (Kuhnert Lewis, 1987)
Transformational Leadership Finally, onto a review of the transformational
leadership style. Transformational leaders that are effective develop a vision,
communicate changes to employees in a convincing way, nurture trust and motivate
others to take action. These leaders are able to motivate

Essay
Mrs. Trollope depicts her seemingly pleasurable exploration in America with
caricature which grounded on the constantly comparison between the American
domestic life with her own experience in Europe with pretension. I have to say that
to some extent, this is good travel narrative full of exaggerated anecdotes rather than
real description of Domestic manners of the Americans as the reader expected. Mrs.
Trollope amused herself largely by sneering at the system of new nation America and
its people and enjoyed her ascendency over the folly Americans. Why did she show
such scornful attitude to American style?

Mrs. Trollope amused herself with coming through the Phrenological society s
ephemeral fate on the 3rd day when subscriptions were expected to be paid. She
shows great contempt on Miss Wright s ridiculous conception on giving the blacks
equal education to prove the human are equal. Could this fact be once fully

37. Persuasive Essay On World Hunger
World Hunger, what is it? Why is it a problem? And what can we do to fix it? Most
United States citizens don t know what it s like to go hungry and without food. We
are a very blessed country. We are so blessed and ungrateful that we manage to
waste 165 billion dollars worth of food each year. The U.S. can t even begin to
imagine how they feel. According to the dictionary hungeris the uneasy or painful
sensation caused by the want of food . There are people out there that can t sleep at
night because of that feeling. Starvationvictims are too tired and weak to even know
when they re thirsty. They can t even sense it. They become very dehydrated. Every
time they move it starts to become painful because day by day their muscles are
wasting away. Hunger, that feeling, none of us want to have to experience that. Truth
is none of us should have to. Where is world hunger? Well it s everywhere, but there
are a few countries where it s out of hand. Those countries are India, China, Pakistan,
Ethiopia, and Bangladesh. Together those countries have a total number of 440.2
million people undernourished.
Why is there world hunger? There could be many different problems that result to
world hunger. For example it could be poor infrastructure. Poor infrastructure makes
it difficult and sometimes impossible to transport food to areas where there are
shortages. Infrastructure helps develop a country. A couple examples of
infrastructure is buildings, power supplies, and roads. Their

The Great Pyramids
Throughout the thousands of years that the Great Pyramid has been standing, there

for alien spacecraft, a spacecraft itself, or the means to predict the future. This report
is going to explain the actual reason the Great Pyramid of Giza exists, how and why it
has existed for so long, and the story of its construction.
The builder of the Great Pyramid does not get enough credit for his unbelievable
achievement. Khufu (Also known as Cheops) was pharaoh for 24 years, 20 of which
were occupied by the construction of the pyramid. The Greeks of the period called
him Cheops but his original Egyptian name was Khufu. Despite building ... Show

Until the 19th century it was the tallest building in the world and, at the age of 4,500
years, it is the only one of the famous Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that still
stands. It is the Great Pyramid of Khufu, at Giza, Egypt.
Some of the earliest history of the Pyramid comes from a Greek traveler named
Herodotus of Halicanassus. He visited Egypt around 450 BC and included a
description of the Great Pyramid in a history book he wrote. Herodotus was told
by his Egyptian guides that it took twenty years for a force of 100,000 oppressed
slaves to build the pyramid. Stones were lifted into position by the use of immense
machines. The purpose of the structure, according to Herodotus s sources, was as a
tomb for the Pharaoh Khufu (whom the Greeks referred to as Cheops).
Most of what Herodotus tells us is probably false. Scientists calculate that fewer men
and fewer years were needed than Herodotus suggests. It also seems unlikely that
slaves or complicated machines were needed for the pyramid construction. It isn t
surprising that the Greek historian got it wrong. By the time he visited the site the
great pyramid was already 20 centuries old, and much of the truth about it was
shrouded in the mists of history.
Certainly the idea that it was a tomb for a Pharaoh, though, seems in line with
Egyptian practices. For many centuries before and after

Flow time is the period required to complete a specific job or a defined amount of

Given this situation I would most definitely use a shop floor scheduling rule that
caters to the major issues facing this situation. The fact we can see the bombs but
they are of different variety plays a major factor. We are also faced with a timeline
to work with which will determine what scheduling rule is selected. EDD would be

nursing, environment, humankind, and health. Selanders begins with nursing; giving
an explanation why nursing is a calling, an art, a science, requires education, and
achieved in the course of environmental alteration. When stating that nursing is a
calling, Nightingale emphasized nursing should be practiced for the love of the
profession and not for the money. Nursing was reviewed as an art and a science. The
science of nursing refers to practicing nursing with current methods, knowledge, and

explained why nursing needs environmental alteration. Nurses must receive abstract

clarifies why environment is so important. Her definition of environment is anything

track in Texas. The tires are then run on a controlled gravel road. Each set of tires is
run for 1000 miles, 500 each day for two days. In each set of 500 miles, 100 miles are
on flint rock and 400 miles are on the highway. The tires are then ranked visually by
multiple engineers to determine which rubber compounds demonstrate the best cut
and chip resistance. Thus, current testing is expensive, time intensive, and
subjective. Students at Ohio Northern University therefore built a tester that can
use a lab test for tread rubber compounds. Cooper will be able to save time and
money by testing much fewer compounds with the road test. However, although this
tester is a very successful design, the cut and chip lab test using this tester is a
brand new idea that has never been done by any engineers, as we know. Therefore, a
summer intern project was created to investigate the usage of the tester and the cut
and chip lab test. It should be noted that the investigation is a proof of concept study
that many trials have to be performed to use the lab test for tread rubber compounds to
42. Federalism And The Other Federalism
In this paper I ve researched different texts and different information on the topic of
federalism to have a good understanding and knowledge of it. I found many sources
of great information to learn about federalism and how it influences many countries
in the world that we know today. My goal in this paper is to give a good
understanding to what I ve learned and give great detail on federalismand the other
Federalism is when two or more levels of governments share the same power over the
same region. Usually the higher national government governs the issues that concern
the entire country, and smaller subdivisions govern issues of their local concern, but
both have the power to make and enforce laws. Good examples of federalist countries
would be Canada, Germany, France, and the United States. The federal governmentis
granted power to mint money, declare war, establish post offices, and punish piracy.
Any action that the federal government may have must stand by the constitution.
While the state government has all the powers that are not granted to the federal
government or forbidden to them under the constitution, because the state power is
not limited to express grants of power( Federalism Information Institute).
Every person that lives in the U.S. has to abide by the laws from the city, county,
state and federal Government of which they live. The founders of federalism where
James Madison, George Washington, and Alexander Hamilton. There

the better quarterback. John Elway and Joe Montana only played four seasons at
the same time. They only played each other two times in their careers. Here is why
John Elway had a better legacy than Joe Montana. John Elway had 51,475 yards to
end his career. John Elway is ranked number 6 in all time yards. Joe Montana only
had 40,551 and was number 15 all time. Also John Elway is number 7 in all time

the league 16 years but Montana only played 15 season because in 1991 he suffered
a elbow injury. Elway also
44. Psychoanalytical Criticism Of Mending Walls
Mending Walls, a Psychoanalytical Criticism More times than none, authors write
concealed meanings that they want the reader to discover. Like Norman N. Holland
describes literary criticism is about books and psychoanalysis is about minds
(Holland), psychoanalytical criticism focuses more on the mindof the reader and
author, rather than the word for word meaning of the sentences. With Mending Walls,
Robert Frostwrote it in an open style of poetry; not focusing on rhymes, but
constructing each sentence with ten syllables. Nevertheless, Frost intents to catch the
attention of the reader by intentionally making ten sentences throughout the poem
into eleven syllables. This essay will intend to discover the hidden meaning that

Frost used a distinct way of writing throughout his poem that not only hooked the
reader into the story, but also made them question their own views of walls, both
physical and psychological. In the poem it is displayed that walls can be both
good and bad. The wall that the narrator sees as the embodiment of what separates
them, it is actually the one thing that brings them together every spring. Near the
end, the narrator brings back the original question, what is the something? With
this poem, maybe Frost wanted the reader to examine themselves and their
surroundings and try to answer the question of tradition, and how they unite us
and separates us at the same time. The narrator s neighbor is the personification of
the old ways and custom in the poem, it is evident as he is constantly repeating
good fences make good neighbors (Frost 245) and the fact that he will not go
behind his father s saying (Frost 246). Even though, good fences make good
neighbors is a well known proverb, people will eventually ask themselves: Why is it
necessary to have fences to build good

The Age of Dryden Erasmus Dryden was the younger of the Drydens. John was
born in Aldwincle on Aug. 9th in 1631. They say he could possibly be named after
his uncle whose name is John Pickering. His uncle John died in prison from illness
in 1628 for defying his kings forced loans. The Pickerings who owned a lot of land

st. Mary Virgin. In 1633 presbyterian Thomas Hill who knew his father From

Johns first poem was called Astrea Redux this poem would make a mark of a
successful campaign that would secure the attention for the restored court.
Following the Astrea Redux was a poem in the coronation of 1661. A poem written
that praised Edward Hyde and Lord chancellor of the new king in 1662. That same
year John was elected to the royal society. In 1663 he married an Elizabeth
Howard. By marrying Elizabeth, John had come to meet james the duke of york.
James was under suspicion of being by the roman catholic , Elizabeth s family
included recusants like her eldest brother Charles. Most of John s poems were
turned into plays at the church he went to as a kid. There he became famous and
started to grow his reputation. The indian emperor (1655) a sequel entirely by
dryden is much more subtle(winn 4). The play was also given an amateur
performance at Court in 1668, which included James Scott, 1st Duke of Monmouth
and his Duchess in the cast. Pepys said that the elite cast as mostly fools and stocks

conflicts love and honour as meant to be a serious drama. Cortez takes the opposite
course, turning his back on his love for Cydaria to obey the orders of his king, even
though he acknowledges that those orders are flawed. Montezuma gets the worst of
their conflict; tortured by the Spaniards, he ends the play with his suicide. Dryden
wanted to portray Cortez as high minded but
46. Spanish As A Spanish Language
Spanish is one of the most common languages in the world. Many people can read
and write in Spanish, but some people aren t able to speak in Spanish such as me.
Even though I struggled with Spanish, I overcame it by practicing every day and
getting help to speak it correctly. Back in high school, I did well in all my classes
including Spanish. I understand the meaning and grammar of some Spanish
words, but I struggled to speak it. My teacher wanted us to present in Spanish. I
heard that I was worried because I m not the best at presenting and especially
speaking in Spanish (of course). In a matter of seconds, I decided that I need to
practice if I want to get a good grade and boost up my G.P.A.
On the next day, I downloaded an app called Duolingo that helps you learn and speak
a new language. To me, it s helpful because I can practice ten to 20 minutes per day
and go over some materials. On google reviews, most people loved Duolingo s
lessons being so shorter, quicker, and easier than Rosetta Stone. It can let me go
back to lessons for a recap what I did. Better yet it uses audio to let me hear how it
sounds and speaking slowly to pronounce. Over a week, I had improved my
speaking skills from speechless to mumbling quietly. This app is great in learning a
new language, but not at speaking to people (which is my problem).
When I came back to school, I decided to ask one of my friends Kenzie to help me
gain confidence for my presentation. By the way, she is better than me
47. The Issues Of Key Employee Retirement
This paper will explore the issues of key employee retirement, plus, address the
plans that Sigma needs to follow in order to ensure the continuity of the firm.
Obviously, decisions about key employee retirement, differs for each business
owner. However, it is an issue that all businesses must face at one point or another.
Moreover, Sigma must ensure that it has a plan to either recruit from within or
hire new employees, to ensure the continuity of the firm. Notwithstanding,
sometimes there are already valuable employees within the organization, that can
fulfill the job requirements. For example, Adams (2012) states, external hires
tended to have more education and experience than the internal hires, but
employers don t appreciate how important it is for workers to know the ropes of an
organization. People don t hit the ground running on day one. Consequently, there
are relationships in organizations that are key to getting work done and a set of
structures and routines. For example, knowing where and when to file papers, for
instance, or whom to ask about approving a project, can make work much more
efficient (p.1). Consequently, according to Wharton.edu (2013), losing out on a
promotion is tough enough. But being passed over for a top level position in favor
of another candidate either external or internal can be a deal breaker for even the
most loyal company soldiers (p.1). For instance, I have been with Akebono for over
15 years, and I have been in the IT
48. Sitcoms Influence On American Culture
Sitcoms have long been characterized by laughter, large casts of characters, and
recurring locations. While these qualities have remained consistent over the years,
sitcoms have adjusted over time to better reflect their audience. A number of pre
2000s shows such as Friends and Cheers depict an idealized group of friends who
spend sizeable amounts of their days with each other. These characters rarely come
into conflict, and they confront any problem as a group. These shows possess a
generally positive vibe, acting as a form of escapism for anyone who might be
feeling down. However, these shows have become rarer and less popular over the
course of the 2000s due to changing American perceptions of the world, which have
become more pessimistic over time. Possible reasons for this include personal
conflicts, financial struggles, or increased exposure to... Show more content on

The characters of It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, collectively referred to as the
Gang, are a group of almost irredeemable individuals who cannot truly be considered
friends. Most episodes depict one or more members of the group creating and
carrying out a convoluted plot to acquire something, such as money or revenge. Each
character is willing to betray, manipulate, and abuse one another in order to get ahead.
They have very few positive qualities, and their many flaws include addiction,
illiteracy, sociopathy, repressed homosexuality, and extreme narcissism. In contrast,
the characters of The Office are far more good natured. While the show often focuses
on the conflict between the characters, these disputes are much more tame and
innocent compared to those in It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Additionally, this
strife often originates from misunderstanding or ignorance, rather than outright
malice. Despite their differences, many of the characters still end up in positive
relationships with each

What have you learned Business simulation is simulation used for business training
or analysis. Most business simulations are used for business acumen training and
development. Learning objectives include: strategic thinking, financial analysis,
market analysis, operations, teamwork and leadership. The business gaming
community seems lately to have adopted the term business simulation game instead
of just gaming or just simulation. The word simulation is sometimes considered too
mechanistic for educational purposes. Simulation also refers to activities where an
optimum for some problem is searched for, while this is not usually the aim of an
educational game. On the other hand, the word game can imply time wasting, not

50. Of Ambrose Bierce s An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
When someone is captured by the enemy in war, they are more than likely going to
die. Escaping and running thousands of miles back home where family is does not
happen like one might see in the movies. In war, people die. Ambrose Bierce tried
to express that heavily when he wrote An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge.
Looking into it through a New Historicism criticism, Ambrose Bierce s background,
the background on the Civil War, and how the plot more specifically the war is
portrayed can back up the idea that Ambrose Bierce wrote An Occurrence At Owl
Creek Bridgeas a message to say that war is something that should not be
romanticized. To start off, a look into Ambrose Bierce s past might help explain why
his message is that war should not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ambrose Bierce does what a lot of writers do not, which is portray the war how it
actually might have been. It is portrayed very violently and there is a real feeling
of fear throughout the story when Peyton is trying to escape from the enemy
soldiers. This helps portray the message because war is a scary thing, but
romanticizing it makes it sound a lot more bearable, when in reality it is not. The
imagery also helps because it brings the story to life by instilling in the reader s
head how Peyton Farquhar was feeling moments before his death. Bierce uses the
image of water quite a bit in the story to explain the surroundings, which were not
ideal, but it can also work as a way to show how his mind was flowing before he
was hung. Peyton s mind was flowing very rapidly through what he thought was his
last moments alive, and that is similar to the rapid flowing of the water. Overall,
there are a lot of elements that can help express Ambrose Bierce s message while
writing An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge, which was: War is not something that
should be romanticized. Some of those elements are Ambrose Bierce s background,
why Ambrose Bierce had such a strong disliking for the war, the background of the
Civil War, the plot structure, and the
51. St. Augustine s Confessions And Dante s Inferno
In St. Augustine s Confessions and Dante s Inferno, the central characters in their
respective narratives are presented a message from which induces distinct reactions.
More importantly, their reactions are reflections of their perspective concerning the
Christian outlook towards life and passion.
In Book VIII.xi (29) the reader finds St. Augustine in a state of despair and anguish
because of his ongoing internal struggle between his mind and body. Afterwards, he
undergoes a surreal experience that ultimately leads to the climax of Confessions, his
conversion to Christianity.
The catalyst for his conversion rests upon none other than a boy or a girl who might
be chanting, per St. Augustine, some sort of children s game (152). The ... Show more

St. Augustine may be referencing the contrast of his experience to that of Noah s by
mentioning flood . While Noah immediately obeyed the given detailed instructions,
St. Augustine is given four words, yet he delays action as he reflects on the example
of Antony, the father of all monks, for guidance. Even though he delays taking action,
the mention of the adverb solely suggest that St. Augustine does take the choice to
perceive, with no reserves, the message as divine. He could have merely attributed
the command as the nursery rhyme, but he did not. Instead, he shows faith and belief
that Noah would not have to demonstrate as the latter directly hears the voice of God.
After he reads Romans 13:13 14, St. Augustine neither wished nor needed to read
further...All the shadows of doubt were dispelled. The conclusion is a four lined
passage which serves as the conclusion of this intense and surreal experience. Once
St. Augustine finally converts, the complexities of his troubles seemingly dissipate.
The reader is left with the understanding that all of St. Augustine s troubles ( the
shadows of doubt ) could have easily been resolved had he been more simple minded
by having had faith ( the light of relief ) earlier in his life. In Dante s Inferno, the
reader witnesses Dante undergo his journey through the nine circles

The reflection film I chose for the school in a multi cultural society class is Higher
Learning. In the film, which setting takes place at a university deals with multiple
issues of academics, racism and women s rights. As the film discusses the views of
three different students as they try to find ways of dealing with their freedom of
college life, they learn quickly in the beginning college life is not what it assumes
be. As the movie learns about all three individuals it is concluded that each one is
met with a traumatic experience that will affect their lives forever. While watching
the movie, it was interesting to see the impact each individual face even when they
do not believe it could ever happen to them. For instance, in the movie, Kristen the
sole female that is being followed, enjoying her life as a college students with
drinking and partying, but the lifestyle in which she is celebrating tragically ends
with her being raped. She comes to terms with the ordeal, but is unable to deal
with the outcome of her friends not supporting her of being raped. She soon beings
to date people of the same sex as she tries to regain herself. As Kristen is trying to
be accepted by society with morals she believes is right, she is also unable to
accept her true feelings in what she knows is right to her which is being in love with
a woman. The other student is Malik, whom is an athlete in track and struggle with
academics. He finds his place in the university by becoming

They are essential to wetland communities since they provide food and habitat for
the wildlife and regulate the water chemistry. Given the importance of their impact
on the environment, it is essential that they be monitored and managed. Also along
with the good they do, Macrophytes can also hinder human activity by clogging
reservoirs, reducing water availability, and obstructing boat propellers, reducing
access to the shoreline. Monitoring and managing aquatic macrophytes can be a
challenge. mapping wetlands are found in diverse geographic areas ranging from
small streams to large open water environments. Not only does the size and shape
make things difficult, but the type and spatial distribution of wetlands can change
dramatically from season to season. To make it easier ecologist employ GIS and
digital data based technologies for cumulative impact assessment, spatial resource

GIS can be used for the monitoring of macrophytes would be the management of
Lake Marion, South Carolina. Lake Marion is a large reservoir that has been of

being used by humans for recreational purposes and to supply hydroelectric power.
There has been an excessive amount of macrophyte growth found in the lake and long

54. Growth And Development Of Personality Psychology
Corissa Beairsto Personality Psychology 321 09/1/2014 Growth and Development in
Personality Psychology With the growing research in Psychology, we find the
question, how did we get this way, more common in development across the lifespan.
(Cervone Parvin, 2013) Personality theorists are looking more at this question,
pushing to understand personality development even more. Two main challenges are
faced while studying personality development; the patterns of development consistent
with what most people experience and the developmental factors which contribute to
each individual person. (Cervone Parvin, 2013) Here we look at the latter of the two;
what environmental experiences and genetic determinants contribute to who you are?
But also, will siblings have similar personalities based off those environmental and
genetics factors that contribute to personality. In the classic nature vs. nurture theory,
both the environment and genetics play a role in the person you will become,
including your personality. Nature refers to the biological factors we inherit through
our genetics and Nurture refers to the family and societal influences which both may
reflect your personality. (Cervone Parvin, 2013) But, which specific factors are
influential to our personality and sibling differences? Genetics plays a strong role in
individual differences between people. Take the classic example of a child s
temperament, emotional and behavioral tendencies during childhood, where these
