People across the nation were starving and in need of help. Americans were scared, wondering if
they would be eating today. Citizens would do all they could to be able to support their families,

Are tall buildings necessary for London to remain a competitive world city?
On February 10, 2004 mayor of London Ken Livingstone introduced the London Plan, the first
proactive strategy in over thirty years to deal specifically with the planning and development of
London. Since an increase in London s population by 800,000 is expected by the year 2020 , the
mayor has suggested the construction of high rise buildings as the method most likely to enable
London to grow in a controlled and steady manner and maintain its status as a world city. A key
part of the plan, the mayor s proposal for high density towers throughout the city, has heightened
the debate between urban planners and heritage groups as to whether the construction of tall ...

Paul s cathedral . Claims such as these have held together London s existing developmental plan,
the Views Policy, which is for the large part unorganized and reactive; the plan dictates where tall
buildings should not be placed rather than where they could best be placed, which has resulted in
London s fragmented and uneven skyline . Thus far, the plan has served these groups well and they
have effectively prevented the construction of tall buildings that could potentially obstruct views of
London landmarks.
In place of tall, high density towers, suggestions have been made by some heritage groups for the
construction of a greater number of smaller and more compact high density buildings. Even
though smaller buildings would help to preserve the views of London s major landmarks, they
would not be built in the best interest of the city. Since there is a lack of available land in the city
and low rise, high density complexes require more land than tall, high density towers, the only way
to construct these developments would be to expand outward. An outward expansion would not
only be expensive, requiring a development of infrastructure in those areas strong enough to
support new businesses, but almost entirely impractical due to London s poor transport system.
Even though half a million London workers live in the suburbs and depend on the radial rail
system that links them to the center of the city, the system as a whole is expensive, heavily
congested and wasteful; it

The Mayor Of Casterbridge By Thomas Hardy Is A Novel That
The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy is a novel that gives insight into the minds and
relationships of its characters such as Michael Henchard. Through Hardy, the reader sees that
Henchard s self concept is dependent on his status as a family figure and status as a public figure.
Here, self concept is defined as a person s thoughts, beliefs, and feelings about oneself. His status
of a familyfigure means being a provider and a father and his status as a public figure means being
successful and powerful. His interactions with others is dependent on his self concept. Both status
as a family figure and status as a public figure fluctuate, which causes Henchard s self concept to
fluctuate. The fluctuation of Henchard s self concept... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point in Henchard s life, his wife Susan had died, he had lost Lucetta to Farfrae, and he
had destroyed the relationship he had with Farfrae. Out of loneliness, he begins to long for
Elizabeth Jane s. He accepts that he is not Elizabeth Jane s biological father, but realizes that he
can act like he is because Elizabeth Jane does not know the truth. Henchard, out of selfish intent,
puts on the air that he fits into his original view of his status as a family figure even though he is
very far from it.
The impact of Henchard s fluctuating self concept is seen in the different ways that he treats
Elizabeth Jane. His attitude towards her moves from warm and caring to cold and distant and
back again. While he believes that he is Elizabeth Jane s biological father, Henchard is warm and
caring towards Elizabeth Jane. This can be seen by them taking frequent walks together. He,
however, does not show his full affection to Elizabeth Jane though actions such as kissing her
cheek because he is viewed as her stepfather by the townspeople and by Elizabeth Jane herself.
After Henchard convinces Elizabeth Jane that he is her biological father, he reads a posthumous
letter from Susan saying otherwise. Instead of feeling joy at being able to show his full affection
the next day ...it was no less than a miserable insipidity to him now that it had come (Chapter 19,
para.34). The change in his self concept of himself as her biological father cast a shadow over their

History, Laws, And Health Impacts On Marriages And Divorce
In our society, little girls and boys are classically trained to believe in fairytale finding the one

Social Sciences Marriage and divorce. Marriage is defined as a formally recognized union
between two people as partners in a relationship. They both share finance and legal
responsibilities. They also establish rights between their children and in laws. At the beginning of
man kind marriage did not exist, simply because about 2 million years ago human s had very little

An Article Critique
In his article entitled Is There a Philippine Public Administration? , Dr. Onofre Corpuz attempts to
explain and define the scope of government as he believes that this is crucial to establishing the
scope of one s personal life, which ought to remain private and inviolable from public invasion . He
writes, The fact that the scope of government has not been discussed is not strange . As such, the
article focuses on the role of government and its scope in an effort to answer the fundamental
question concerning the existence of a Philippine Public Administration. Although the essay has no
explicit yes or no answer to the question at hand, it goes without saying that there is indeed a
Philippine Public Administration inasmuch as there are major Philippine institutions that shape
such, to wit: education, politics, and government. By looking into the logical development of the
ideas presented in the article, it can be said that the author s way of putting his message ... Show

Giant toy stores since they do not manufacture their own products, attempt to develop brand
loyalty to the stores themselves. The shopping experience itself is now sold to consumers.
Retailers want customers to think of their stores as a destination, not a mere outlet for the
distribution of products. Their goal is to move attention away from the products sold, which are
available anywhere, even over the Internet, to the place where the products are sold. Diamond
Toys, one of such specialty toy shops in USA emphasizes status, high quality, unique
merchandise and excellent service. Their goal is to attract a wealthy, cosmopolitan clientele
seeking unique, high quality toys sold by solicitous, knowledgeable service workers. Hence,
stores in the Diamond Toys chain are generally located in upscale shopping districts in major
cities and are built to resemble amusement parks making them appeal to tourists as well as to the
wealthy. Hence, the image the store wants to build for itself, the clientele it wishes to serve, play
a major role in deciding store locations. A store which is interested in building an image of value
for money and offers large discounts will probably locate itself in the city outskirts and depend
upon the discount and variety if offers to lure customers to make the trip

The Genetic Factors of Learning Disabilities Essay
The National Institute of Neurologic Disorders defines learning disorders as a; condition that
either prevents or significantly hinders somebody from learning basic skills or information at the
same rate as most people of the same age. It is important to note that this does not mean that the
individual has less intelligence; it means that their brain or body is wired in a way that hinders or
prevents development of a certain tasks. Many people often confuse learning disabilities with
mental retardationbut while both words describe similar conditions, the term learning disabilityand

in and day out.
The roots of learning disabilities have been debated for ages. There is a general consensus that
both genetics and environment play hand in hand in learning and general temperament formation
but the extant of each is debatable. This led me to my central question of what extent has current
genetic research proved regarding the role of genes in the development of learning disorders. I
am interested in what genetically linked disorders are most prevalent in school aged children and
plan to detail the signs and symptoms of the three most prevalent disorders and the current believe
about their causes at molecular level. The first learning disorder that I would like to discuss is
Fragile X syndrome. Fragile X, often called Martin Bell syndrome for it s the man who

sex linked chromosome. The disorder affects 1 in every 3600 males but only 1 in 4000 6000

Becoming A Knight In The Middle Ages
In the middle ages a young boys dream was to become a knight, but there were many
requirements you needed in order to become a knight. One requirement is that you need to have
the money to pay for the armor, war house and weapons because these things are not cheap. Only
very rich people could afford this. These people were normally from the noble or the aristocratic
classes.
If you or your parents were to decide that you wanted to be a knight when you are seven you must
go live in a knight s home. In this knight s house you would learn how to become a knight. The
boy would then basically become the knight s servant. By living with the knight the boy would
learn good manners and how to behave. With the knight the boy would train to fight.

How Did Paris Change Throughout The 19th Century
Paris today is known as the city of lights. Full of opportunity and adventure, this city has a
wonderful reputation as an amazing home to some and tourist attraction to others. There are many
facets of the city that have helped to build the great reputation that Paris holds, and if it was not for
the rich history that this cityhas, it would not be the admirable city that it is today. Throughout the
late 18th and 19th centuries, many different obstacles arose for the city of Paris. From 1789 to 1891,
Paris overcame a great deal, some of which included The Terror, the reign of Napoleon I and III,
and The Commune. Many pieces of literature were published during this time and aided in

Napoleon III was still in power, but during this time, Paris transformed into the Paris that many
know today. In Emile Zola s The Belly of Paris, is set in Les Halles, which is the central market
in Paris during the 19th century. A major theme in this novel which also helps to describe how
Paris changes during this century is the struggle between the fat and the thin. Unlike today,
Paris viewed fat people as wealthy and privileged, because they were obviously able to afford
luxurious foods. Thin people, on the contrary, were viewed as poverty stricken people who
could not afford to eat. Zola describes the main character, Florent: No, hunger had never left
him. He wracked his brains, but could not recall a single moment when his stomach had felt full.
He had become dry and withered; his stomach seemed to have shrunk; his skin clung to his bones
(Zola 12). Unfortunately, 19th century Paris had a large divide between the rich and the poor
and it was visible by how fat or thin people were. Although Florent had just arrived in Paris after
escaping his arrest, this quote perfectly describes how poverty affected society in 19th century
Paris. In addition, this novel also helps to describe the terrible working and living conditions of
the poor during this time. A particular family s living conditions is described: It was in the cellars
under the poultry market that they found a way of continuing to sleep together. Near the
slaughtering blocks were some big baskets of feather in which they could stretch out... Usually
they would drag their basket away from the gaslight; they were alone in the strong smell of
poultry, kept awake by the sudden crowning of the cocks in the dark (Zola 161). This couple went
to what seems to be the ends of the earth to find a somewhat comfortable sleeping situation,
although it is still very bad.

How Does Stephen Crane Use Irony In A Mystery Of Heroism
If one is a fan of irony, then Stephen Crane s work is worth the read. He uses irony for real life

The emerging trend of liberalizing international trade regulations, also known as globalization, has
lead to vast changes in distribution of wealth and power throughout the world. As a result, many
groups and population segments feel pressured or disadvantaged by the evolving structure of world
markets and their effects on labor standards, job availability, environmental standards, etc.
Many of these groups, both in the United States and abroad, are leftist centered groups seeking to

This paper will use the Smelser model of collective behavior to illustrate that all of the determinants
necessary for such a grand and successful display of collective action were present at that time.
Specifically, it will demonstrate that a societal structure sustained action, a sufficient strain
instigated such action, leadership was there to mobilize resources and that social control forces
inevitably could not prevent the demonstrators from disturbing the WTO convention.
Theory
This paper will demonstrate the Smelser Theory of Structural Strain. This uses a value added
concept in that all of the determinants, when met, contribute to the likelihood of collective action.
Generally, however, all factors must be present for collective action to occur (Barkan and Snowden

Structural Conduciveness This is a measure of how accommodating a society or environment is to

Nature Vs Nurture Theory Of George Dilson
Lester Joseph Gillis, aka George Nelson, was born in 1908. He was killed in 1934 by FBI agents in
Illinois three months after his partner in crime, John Dillinger, was found and killed by the FBI.
He was 25 when he died. His wife was sentenced a year in jail. He was a bank robber, gangster,
smuggler, and killer. He killed more FBI agents in the line of duty than anyone else.
His childhood had everything to do with how and why Lester Gillis became George Nelson. When
he was a young teenager, he was in a gang in Chicago. He became known as Baby face Nelson by
the members of the gang. As an adult, he was five feet and four inches tall and weighed roughly
133 pounds (FBI, pg.1). This component lead to the violence and disregard he demonstrated
towards other people and the law all throughout his life.
The nature vs nurture theory describes that genetics can cause predispositions to mental illnesses,
or behaviors that lead people to make poor decisions or even become criminals. (Good Therapy,
pg. 1) The reasons behind George Nelson is mostly accountable towards his environment and how
he was raised.
From a young age, Nelson proved to have behavioral problems with others. When he was seven,
he went to state reformatory for a year after he shot another child in the jaw with a pistol he found.
(Nelson Journal, pg. 1) This was an accident, but it would not be the only person that he shot in his
life. This kind of behavior in children is genetic because a violent, mean

The Crisis And World Economic Recession
In 2008, the world was going through one of its worst times in history, the financial crisis and
world economic recession. People were losing their jobs, their homes and their future with some
having no hope of a recovery. The United States of America was in turmoil as their financial sector
was almost dead and the manufacturing industry was close to collapse, the USA has basically not
seen a thing like this since the great depression in the 1930s. Four years earlier, at the 2004
Democratic National Convention, a young, unknown U.S Senate candidate was the keynote
speaker for the National convention, some were calling him the future of the Democratic party. His
name: Barack Obama, at the time no one had an incline as to what he would one day eventually
become. Before his great speech no one assumed that he would be capable of aspiring above
what his circumstances have put him in. In his speech, he showed his belief in one America and
portrayed the fact that anyone can rise and live the American dream, he made this clear when he
talked about his background and how he grew up making reference to his father s journey My
father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village in Kenya. He grew up herding
goats, went to school in a tin roof shack. His father, my grandfather, was a cook, a domestic

Blockbuster History Films Essay
History films have often been criticised by academics and journalists as inaccurate depictions of the
past. Yet there is no denying the fact that blockbuster history films are increasingly influential in
shaping our understanding of historical people and events thanks to the accessibility of the
medium. Producers of these films often take liberties with facts to tell a more dramatic, engaging
and entertaining story. They have a basis in truth but are greatly influenced by the writers and
directors desire to envelop the audience in the story and to entertain. They focus the visual and
auditory senses of the viewer on the subject being studied creating a stimulating and forceful impact
on the viewer, therefore engaging their interest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, Martin is loosely tied to the Continental Army Officer Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox
, along with four other historical figures. Francis Marion was notoriously known for his use of
guerrilla tactics against British troops in South Carolina, something which is presented historically
accurate in the film. The Patriot has inspired a new resurgence in research into the American
Revolution; raising the public awareness of what has become an almost mythical war, and creates an
opportunity for teachers and students to gain a deeper understanding of the era. In some aspects,
director Roland Emmerich historically replicated events accurately. The film also accurately
portrays why the American Revolution started within the opening sequence of the film; that being
the revolt against british taxation without any American representation. The American Revolution
came about, fundamentally, because by 1763 the English speaking communities on the far side of
the Atlantic had matured to an extent that their interests and goals were distinct from those of the
ruling classes in the mother country. However, despite the historical accuracies, the film depicts
various inaccurate characteristics such as some states offering freedom to African Americans
serving in the war for a period of three years. The film suggests that the War of Independence was a
liberating experience for African Americans and also that the field

The Achievements Of A Hero In Gilgamesh And The Odyssey
In Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, the authors describe the achievements of a hero during a
particular period of time. Despite being written thousands of years apart, Homer presented the
importance of perseverance and loyalty because he wanted to show how strong willed people are
in returning home safely to stay with their loved ones. Both Gilgamesh and Odysseus developed a
strong desire to search for the true meaning of life because it arouses their curiosity. These stories
focuses primarily on the protagonists going through the transition to maturity due to a series of
events. The literary techniques that both authors used reveals two separate intentions and different
conclusions. While Mitchell uses symbolism to show how Gilgamesh evolve into a true epic
hero, Homer uses imagery to portray how Odysseus changes for the better during his journey. One
similarity between the books is that both characters are extremely prideful. The arrival of Endiku
had a major impact on Gilgamesh because he never saw anyone who was as strong as him. From
the moment they became friends, Gilgamesh always had an urge to go on adventures with him
because he wanted to test his strength and loyalty. One day, Gilgamesh points out that, Now we
must travel to the Cedar Forest, where the fierce monster Humbabalives. We must kill him and drive
out evil from the world. (Mitchell, pg.91). Endiku responds with disagreement because he argued
that they stand no chance against the strong and fearless

Section 1: Introduction
In a given country, Life Expectancy at birth is the expected number of years of life from birth.
Gross domestic product per capita is defined as the market value of all final goods and services
produced within a country in one year, divided by the size of the population of that country.
The main objective of the present project is to establish the existence of a statistical relation
between Life Expectancy (y) at birth and GDP per capita (x). First, we will present in Section 2 the
data, from an official governmental source, containing Life ... Show more content on

Basic statistics for the GDP per capita:
Mean: x=i=148xi48 = 12900
In order to compute the median, we need to order the GDP values:
600, 700, 1100, 1500, 1600, 1900, 2100, 2200, 2500, 2900,
2900, 3200, 3300, 3900, 4000, 4100, 4300, 4800, 5000, 6000,
6300, 6700, 7600, 7600, 9100, 9900, 10600, 10700, 11200, 12300,

28200, 28800, 29000, 29100, 29800, 30000, 31100, 37800.
The median is obtained as the middle value of the two central values (the 25th and the 26th):
Median= 7600+91002 = 8350
In order to compute the modal class, we need to split the data in classes.
If we consider classes of USD 1000 (0 999, 1000 1999, ...) we have the following table of
frequencies:
Class| Frequency| 0 999| 2| 1000 1999| 4| 2000 2999| 5| 3000 3999| 3| 4000 4999| 4| 5000 5999| 1|

What Are The Legal Issues Related To The Ford Motor Company
Memorandum TO: Jonathan Foster, Head of the Legal Analytics Department FROM: Sawyer
Folks, Business Analyst DATE: April 27, 2015 SUBJECT: Ford Motor Company Background
The Ford Motor Company has had a rather tarnished legal history. Ford got into some hot water
in the 1990s and 2000s over multiple safety scandals. One of these scandals occurred in 1996
and involved faulty ignition switches that would short and cause fires. The ignition switch
scandal then led to Ford being sued by State Farm for neglecting to release information about the
faulty ignition switches and their tendency to start fires. Perhaps the most famous Ford safety
scandal of all took place during the 1970s when Ford released the Pinto. As a consequence of a
poor design, the fuel tank was located near the cars bumper and had virtually zero protection
mechanisms in place. This design flaw led to many fatal explosions from the car being struck
from behind. Ford ended up having to pay millions of dollars in civil cases as a result of injuries
and deaths related to the design of the Pinto. Ford had to fork over $125 million dollars in
damages in just one civil case, although this was a special case. There were other cases in which
Ford executives were found innocent of any murder charges at all. There was a very diverse and
wide spectrum of cases related to the Pinto incident. Ford does not only suffer from legal issues
related to a lack of safety, but also to legal issues involving environmental

The History of Humanitarian Intervention
The history of Humanitarian intervention is a controversial one. In March 1999 the North Atlantic
Treaty Organisation (NATO) justified the use of force against Yugoslavia, a country that at this time
was having a number of atrocities being committed within it. This act welcomed by those that
thought that the veto of the permanent five in the United Nations Security Councilsometimes block
necessary cases of intervention. According to Sarooshi (2001) they believe morality should trump
legality where governments commit mass atrocities. Some claim NATO s action is legal because it
represents the crystallization in state practice of a new customary law of humanitarian intervention.
(Sarooshi, 2001:12) According to a number of authors namely Bellamy, Chandler as this essay shall
soon explore, was the downfall of any form of containing humanitarian intervention . The principle
of Responsibility to Protect(R2P) was endorsed by the United NationsGeneral Assembly in 2005
and in 2006 the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reaffirmed the R2P principle.
Lyon (2009) questions the validity of the R2P discourse. He describes it as a normative
advancement of the idea of humanitarian intervention. Whilst Bellamy (2008) argues that R2P can
be seen as a working language in the international community where cases of mass atrocities are
being committed.
A question that continues to arise is that of sovereignty. What gives a sovereign state the right to
intervene in another

taught me.
After my transformation from military to civilian and learning more about myself in this lesson,
I now have a better picture of how to accomplish my goals. First and foremost, I need to stop using
being busy as an excuse to not get my degree done. I have let too much time pass me by and there
will always be life reasons to hold me back if I let them. The short video clip Ask
It (Stanly, 2015) fits me perfectly regarding how I need to stop making excuses and use my
experiences and take action. Also, knowing I have overcome many obstacles has made me
stronger and increased my ability to push forward. I believe I can better educate myself while
helping others in the process. Helping others is the best way for me to learn the most about myself
and guide me to the right path. I watched ahead and the video for the next assignment,

The cops believed that John had something to do with the bombing, because he was at the site of
the bomb before it was detonated. The bomb was planted inside of a hole where a tree was being

company the day of the attack. Because John was the suspect, the police went to his house to
talk to him and see if he was guilty of these crimes. John was coerced by the sheriff to step
outside and talk to them, but right as he walked outside he was shot. Somebody in the woods
fired a high caliber round through John s chest instantly killing him. Stone states: Well, I guess we
know now that kravitz was part of the bombing plot (Baldacci 195). This shows that John was shot
so that he wouldn t tell the cops information about the bombing. Whether he was forced into

information on the bombing. Overall, this was a good play on the enemies part in keeping there

Pursuit Of Happyness Compare And Contrast Essay
Dream Chaser
What drives you? What keeps your motivation flowing? The gripping story of Chris Gardner will

the self titled movie. These two works have the ultimate story of triumph and self perseverance.
With both works being released in 2006, both number one seller for their respective audiences; they
did carry many similarities and differences. Discussing each work, I will compare and contrast both
works with the theme, settings, and characters and navigate the overall message they provide.

This is an influential point for both book and movie because it has the effect of showing how both
mothers are in and out of their child s life but yet the father reminds to keep everything together.
Basing character tendencies on how the mothers leave and the main character (father) with stay. Yet
the movie does not detail this information but is evident to the abandonment of his actual wife at
one point in the film. In the film, the wife leaves at the one hour mark (film time). The film keeps
their focus off the wife/mother to put more power in the struggle of Gardner s life as a father. In
contrast, the film The Pursuit of Happyness featured the bigger picture of the actual story. More so
the theme that Chris Gardner conveyed in the book. The film goes from struggling married couple
with a son, to a struggling single father chasing the ultimate dream of successfulness. The
difference from the book is that Chris Gardner and his wife were together on and off. They struggle
to make the relationship work but have differences in what they want to pursue.
In the chapter Turned Out (advanced), the wife reappears after leaving the relationship and they
still continue having problems. While I had thought that my trip to meet my father would give me
and Jackie [wife] the break we needed to appreciate each other more and help put everything in
perspective, the stress picked up exactly where it had been before. (Gardner 192). After trying to

Negative Effects Of Caffeine
Background Research Is Caffeine good or bad for living organisms? This is a topic that has been
debated all around the world. Plants are essential to life on earth because of their ability to make
food. They make food by using a process called photosynthesis. Some plants can also produce
caffeine on their own. Caffeine speeds up regeneration in Planaria. Caffeine is used to stimulate the
central nervous system. Caffeine is consumed in large quantities daily, but it can have both positive
and negative effects on living organisms that ingest it. Caffeine is an alkaloid, which is commonly

Synthetic fertilizers are manufactured. Organic fertilizers are made from natural materials. Fast

3.1 Cyber Warfare
Richard A. Clark, an expert in security sector governance in his book Cyber War (May 2010),

International Business And Multinational Corporations
The end of the 1980s experienced a visible change experienced in the literature concerning MNE
functions and nature of business (Segal Horn and Faulkner, 2010). Before 1980s, the main
research in MNE field was about analyzing relation between affiliates and headquarters of the firm,
and also decisions concerning making investment in foreign country, which was also experienced
in Dunning s work. After that, the focus was shifted to operations concerning coordination in

Their main aim is to maximize the competitive advantage for the particular MNE through
integration of global activities and local differences within each foreign unit. In the modern
perspective, two main theories, i.e. network based theory and knowledge based theory of MNE, are
prevalent, which are explained hereunder (Forsgren, 2008).
The most importance sources of competitive advantage for MNEs are their affiliates. This is
because affiliates establish a deep rooted and long term connection with their local partners and
through this new knowledge information can be established. Such knowledge is implicit and is
inserted in a particular context. Inserted or embedded knowledge itself is implicit and is also
specific to a context (Pedersen, 2014). It is also entrenched in the inter dependent activities of the
employees and staff members who observe shared experiences as well as values. These traits cause
more complexity and confusions in terms of barriers for transferability of such knowledge
(Stephan, 2013). This affiliate embeddedness in relation with stakeholders within the business
network actually opposes business contact made traditionally, in which firm used to make
connections with only consumers and suppliers and relation used to end with the exchange
(Lundan, 2002). Similarly, some of these relationships with affiliates are established gradually with
the passage of time and thus higher level of

The Goal Of The Physical Education Teacher

depends on the interests and abilities of teacher educators and to the demands of the institutions in
which they serve (Locke, Mand, Sidentop, 1981). This disciplinary debates about what to teach has

Hester Prynne adulteress and sinner, but also strong, courageous and kind. She lives with the
first two words as her identity, with the scarlet A as her name tag; A reminder to everyone and
herself of her sins. In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne; Hawthorne expresses his
belief that everyone has an equal potential for sin, what causes people to be different from each
other is how they react to their sin. The sins committed by people can affect them differently
than how it may affect another person. Sin is not something that everyone feels the same way
about. Lucius Annaeus Seneca makes a point saying that: The first step in a person s salvation
is knowledge of their sin . There is no way we can resolve our sins alone. We can only
acknowledge our sin and repent; We can try to be the best versions of ourselves but sin does not
just disappear. It is a daily trouble everyone s life, sin changes every person from the individual
they are supposed to be. For example, Hester accepts what she has one and tries to move on and
redeem herself by helping the poor and raising her daughter. On the contrary, Chillingsworth
dwells in his sins and submits to what he had done making him become dark and satan like. He
no longer can recognize admirability, he has a focused on revenge and hate. There are also people
comparable to Dimmesdale, who hide their sins in shame of what they have done, unable to move
on. The Scarlet Lettergenuinely shows the difference between the Puritan s view of sin versus the
Romantics view of Sin. The Puritan church is deeply adamant that all sins should be punished;
sin not easily forgiven and forgiveness is to be earned if possible. The entire scene is very
hypocritical. The leaders and ministers hold themselves on a pedestal, as though they have never
done wrong. An impeccable example; Arthur Dimmesdale, the man who Hester has an affair with,
ironically the one who is questioning her and trying to convince her to tell the leaders who the
father was. He knew without a doubt Pearl was his daughter. He was playing clue; keeping himself
unblemished. Hester is a symbol of the new Romantic Era that was to come shortly after the uptight
Puritan Church. Romantics held the beliefs

Essay on The French New Wave
The French New Wave
In 1959 early 1960 five directors released debut feature length films that are widely regarded as
heralding the start of the French nouvelle vague or French New Wave. Claude Chabrols Le Beau
Serge (The Good Serge, 1959) and Les Cousins (The Cousins, 1959) were released, along with
Francois Truffauts Les Quatre cents coups (The 400 Blows, 1959), Jean Luc Godards A boutde
souffle (Breathless, 1960) and Alain Resnais Hiroshima mon amour (Hiroshima my love, 1959).
These films were the beginning of a revolution in French cinema. In the following years these
directors were to follow up their debuts, while other young directors made their first features, in
fact between 1959 63 over 170 French directors made their debut ... Show more content on

This caused outrage in an Industry already low on capital and fighting to recover after the
occupation years. The number of American features increased tenfold while French film output
reduced to just seventy eight features a year. Similar agreements with other European countries
worsened the situation as countries which traditionally relied on French Cinema were being
saturated by Hollywood. This caused an outrage within the industry and in 1948 the French
Government introduced legislation which brought back a quota on American films of 121 per year.
Along with this quota, legislation was introduced which would shape the French film industry
throughout the 50s. Major bank loans were made available for stable production companies to
finance future films and a new admissions tax was introduced. If a film was successful then a large
fund would build up which the government made specifically available to producers to fund future
films. This encouraged production companies to make popular and safe films with star names and
well known stories, and discouraged experimentation. Throughout the early and mid 50s many
literary adaptations, costume dramas and huge co productions with cast and crew drawn from both
France and other European countries were made. They were predominately studio bound with
lavish sets, elaborate lighting, special effects and extravagant costume. This Cinema became known
as the tradition of

The Financials For Clipboard Company
Introduction The financials for Clipboard Company since 2011 indicate the financial progress for
use when addressing factors that can cause the company to continue making profits or to fail.
Currently, the company offers three technological devices specifically tablets under the names X5,
X6, and X7. The three products have been in the market for different times as they were
developed and introduced into the market at various times. X7 is the youngest product and
apparently retails at the least price. However, it has not picked as expected in the market. The
primary company s objective is to maximize revenues by varying the prices of its commodities and
undertaking research and development. However, the most beneficial strategy on the... Show more

However, at 2015, the product will have reached shakeout stage, and it will have increasingly
declining new customers. When the price is lowered to $420, and R D for the product lowered
to 25% then, the tablet will perform better than its competitors in the market. At this time, the
total sales will be 1, 371, 992 in 2012, and 2, 316, 675 in 2013. However, according to SLP 3 that
would mean that the company would have to reduce the production volume to achieve default
run profitability. On the other hand, if the company increases the cost of X6 tablet to $450 and
R D to 40% it would mean that the customers pay the same for the tablet as they pay for other
competing tablets in the market. In that case, it would call for a decision on the side of the
customer based on their loyalty for them to purchase the tablet. In so doing, the organization
will register a sale volume of $1, 854, 036 in 2014 and $2, 337, 247 in 2015. If the company will
increase the price further to $470 and increase R D to 45%, then tablet X6 will be less expensive
for customers to buy than competing tablets. With that change, the company will make sales of
2, 337, 247 in 2014 and 1, 180 751 in 2015. The reason for the decline will be because the product
will have reached the shakeout stage where the number of new customers will progressively
decline (Calvin, 2002). Following the analysis above, the best strategy for tablet X6 is to increase
the price to $450 and R D to 40% for between 2012 and

Stendhal was One of the Greatest Writers of the 19th Century
1.Marie Henri Beyle, who was known by his pen name Stendhal, was one of the greatest writers
of the 19th century. Stendhal was born in Grenoble, France to a wealthy family in January of
1783. His mother died when he was only seven years old. At the age of sixteen, Stendhal moved to
Paris to study for the entrance examination to the Г‰cole Polytechnique but instead enlisted and
served as a lieutenant in the French army for eighteen months. He spent the next few years in Paris
writingand taking drama classes, followed by a second military role in the French army until the
French Empire fell in 1814. After his time in the army had ended, Stendhal moved to Italy where
he started his career as a writer.
In Italy, Stendhal wrote his first novel titled Rome, Naples, and Florence in 1817. Then in 1818,
he fell in love with Mathilde Dambowski who did not return his affections. Stendhal s love for
Mathilde inspired a lot of his most significant works. Taking advantage of his success in writing,
Stendhal returned to Paris in 1821 to discuss the latest ideas of art, literature, and politics. This
helped him write his next two novels; On Love and Racine and Shakespeare. Stendhal wrote Racine
and Shakespeare as a romantic novel that insists that literature should reflect its historical moment.
Stendhal continued to write magnificent novels until 1842 when he passed away as the result of a
stroke.

Comparing The Crucible, And Les Miserables
Today, children are taught to forgive others and give second chances. But this was not always the
case. Historically, once someone had committed a crime they were thought of as dishonorable
people and it was made known to others that they had committed a sin. This is seen in many literary
works including The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Les Miserables. Les Miserables, originally
written by Victor Hugo, exemplifies this prejudice. Throughout the story, the characters can not
escape the prejudice related to one mistake, or perceived mistake. In the movie version directed
by Bille August, Jean Valjean and Fantine are unable to receive forgiveness and move on with
their lives. When Jean Valjean is released from prison, he understands the bias he is going to face
in the real world. Explaining to the bishop, he says that the real punishment begins now, as he can

Because it is discovered that she has an illegitimate child, she is fired so she does not influence
the young girls she works with. The woman in charge of the factory quickly judge Fantine for
making one mistake and label her a prostitute. Once her story gets out in the small town, she is
unable to get a real job. Needing money to support herself and Cosette, she resorts to prostitution.
When attacked, Javert arrests her and tells Valjean and Fantine that she is in the wrong. Javert
believes that Fantine is always going to be a prostitute and should be put in prison.
Throughout the movie Les Miserables directed by Bille August, Paris is shown as an unforgiving
society in the late 1700 s and early 1800 s. Once a person has done something wrong, they will
never be trustworthy citizens, or even a part of society. The cruel nature of society is on display by
the prejudice shown by Javert to both Fantine and Jean

Scriptpad
Case 2.1 ScriptPad
Discussion question 1:
The way ScriptPad was originally positioned satisfied the four dimensions of an opportunity .
It was attractive: 1. It provided physicians to submit electronic prescriptions through iPhone, iPad
and iPod touch devices. 2. It can memorize the medical record, the dosage and the volume of the
pills. It was timely: 1. With the development of the internet and technology, the computer is used in
everywhere. With the emerging of the IPAD and Iphone. The Scriptpad is the inevitable trend. 2.
Through the years, it was approved that 40% of the handwritten prescriptions contain minor errors
(per case 2.1 in the textbook), some are even with major problems. 3. ... Show more content on

Patients won t need to wait for long time to get the medicine. They will be happy to both me and the

B. Pluses of adopting ScriptPad service:
I. As above point A listed point I. II. and III. II. Easy to learn and reduce the pharmacy call backs.
III. To protect the patients to get the right pill, right dosage and the right pill volume. Some what to
save patients lives. IV. Small fee in applying the service, no need to purchase expensive
infrastructure, and can get government incentive for the offset. V. Singularly focused on one
function only (electronic prescription), which made the cost lower, not easy to make mistake when
tapping the key, and easy to learn.
C. Minuses of adopting ScriptPad service:
I. As a human being, physicians after all will tap the wrong key on their key board. Moreover
physicians must have a smart phone, or portable notepad, which will be an additional cost. II.
ScriptPad will collect charge from pharmacies through every transaction, we are afraid that it may

High cost of hardware (smart phone, notepad IV. Lost of hardware results in data and personal
information disclosure

Native American Nicknames And Mascots
While the pressure builds for collegiate and professional teams to end nicknames and Imagery that
are hostile and abusive to Native Americans, some tribes sanction symbolic use. When the National
Collegiate Athletic Association issued letters to schools that had Native American nicknames and
mascots, few would have predicted the massive changes that would occur. The year was 2005, and
19 colleges were informed that their nicknames and mascots were potentially hostile or abusive to
Native Americans. These schools were given the ultimatum. The NCAA mandated that they make
changes or face severe sanctions. Noncompliance guaranteed two penalties. The NCAA would ban

FSU the only school that continues to use the Indian images for both its mascot and its logo,
and the Seminole tribe has given its wholehearted support. At FSU football games, Osceola, the
Seminole warrior, rides an appaloosa horse named Renegade. Playing the warrior whose
clothing is designed by Seminoles is considered a privilege, he is not even perceived as a
mascot. The federal government waged three wars against the Seminoles during the 1800 s to
make the Indians land available to white settlers. Tribe members, in the meantime, were
expected to vacate their land and live on a federal reservation in Oklahoma. The Seminoles put
up fierce resistance and never surrendered. The remnant of the tribe that remained lived in the
Florida Everglades. After the third war ended in 1858, the government halted its efforts to
relocate the Seminoles. That s why they are often referred to as the unconquerable people. Over
the years, Florida State has made a conscious effort to make tribal members an active and visible
part of campus life. For example: tribal members travel to Tallahassee each year to crown the
homecoming chief and princess, who dress in authentic Seminole regalia, and at every university
commencement, tribe members wear brightly colored Seminole clothing to serve as the color
guard. Despite the willingness of some tribes to have

Schizophrenic Patients
My aunt was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was 15 years old and had gone untreated for
most of her adult life. She has always lived with my grandma and growing up, I remember seeing
how easily she became agitated with my grandma in seemingly normal problems and situations., I
recall hearing her talk to herself, and I remember how hard it was to explain concepts to her.
Because of her escalating symptoms, my grandma and my aunt decided to take the steps to seek
treatment so that she can become more independent. Through this, I have seen that there are tools
to manage psychotic symptoms and that schizophreniadoes not have to define who a person is.
Although there is no cure, people with this condition can still have a fulfilling life... Show more

While no cure for schizophrenia exists yet, people dealing with this mental disorder have tools
available to help them deal with their individual symptoms. As I have witnessed through my aunt s
attempts at recovery, low doses of medication, therapy and support are key to being able to live an
independent and rich life. Unfortunately, about 3.2 million Americans today are living with
Schizophrenia, and roughly 40 percent of them are untreated. This is due to the fact that a lot of
schizophrenic people do not have consistent support systems. They need this because often times
they do not know when they are decompensating. Our society has come a long way in overcoming
the stigma of mental illness and understanding how schizophrenia affects individuals. It is my hope
that those who know a person dealing with schizophrenia educate themselves on this condition so
that they can assist the person with treatment. This should lower the number of those who go
untreated, are homeless, incarcerated and in crisis. Symptoms of schizophrenia can be managed
and with the right treatments, people can live fulfilling and productive

On February 10, 2004 mayor of London Ken Livingstone introduced the London Plan, the first proactive strategy in over thirty years to deal specifically with the planning and development of London. Since an increase in London s population by 800,000 is expected by the year 2020 , the mayor has suggested the construction of high rise buildings as the method most likely to enable London to grow in a controlled and steady manner and maintain its status as a world city. A key part of the plan, the mayor s proposal for high density towers throughout the city, has heightened the debate between urban planners and heritage groups as to whether the construction of tall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul s cathedral . Claims such as these have held together London s existing developmental plan, the Views Policy, which is for the large part unorganized and reactive; the plan dictates where tall buildings should not be placed rather than where they could best be placed, which has resulted in London s fragmented and uneven skyline . Thus far, the plan has served these groups well and they have effectively prevented the construction of tall buildings that could potentially obstruct views of London landmarks. In place of tall, high density towers, suggestions have been made by some heritage groups for the construction of a greater number of smaller and more compact high density buildings. Even though smaller buildings would help to preserve the views of London s major landmarks, they would not be built in the best interest of the city. Since there is a lack of available land in the city and low rise, high density complexes require more land than tall, high density towers, the only way to construct these developments would be to expand outward. An outward expansion would not only be expensive, requiring a development of infrastructure in those areas strong enough to support new businesses, but almost entirely impractical due to London s poor transport system. Even though half a million London workers live in the suburbs and depend on the radial rail system that links them to the center of the city, the system as a whole is expensive, heavily congested and wasteful; it ... The Mayor Of Casterbridge By Thomas Hardy Is A Novel That The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy is a novel that gives insight into the minds and relationships of its characters such as Michael Henchard. Through Hardy, the reader sees that Henchard s self concept is dependent on his status as a family figure and status as a public figure. Here, self concept is defined as a person s thoughts, beliefs, and feelings about oneself. His status of a familyfigure means being a provider and a father and his status as a public figure means being successful and powerful. His interactions with others is dependent on his self concept. Out of loneliness, he begins to long for Elizabeth Jane s. He accepts that he is not Elizabeth Jane s biological father, but realizes that he can act like he is because Elizabeth Jane does not know the truth. Henchard, out of selfish intent, puts on the air that he fits into his original view of his status as a family figure even though he is very far from it. The impact of Henchard s fluctuating self concept is seen in the different ways that he treats Elizabeth Jane. His attitude towards her moves from warm and caring to cold and distant and back again. While he believes that he is Elizabeth Jane s biological father, Henchard is warm and caring towards Elizabeth Jane. This can be seen by them taking frequent walks together. He, however, does not show his full affection to Elizabeth Jane though actions such as kissing her cheek because he is viewed as her stepfather by the townspeople and by Elizabeth Jane herself. After Henchard convinces Elizabeth Jane that he is her biological father, he reads a posthumous letter from Susan saying otherwise. Instead of feeling joy at being able to show his full affection the next day ...it was no less than a miserable insipidity to him now that it had come (Chapter 19, para.34). Giant toy stores since they do not manufacture their own products, attempt to develop brand loyalty to the stores themselves. The shopping experience itself is now sold to consumers. Retailers want customers to think of their stores as a destination, not a mere outlet for the distribution of products. Their goal is to move attention away from the products sold, which are available anywhere, even over the Internet, to the place where the products are sold. Diamond Toys, one of such specialty toy shops in USA emphasizes status, high quality, unique merchandise and excellent service. The roots of learning disabilities have been debated for ages. This led me to my central question of what extent has current genetic research proved regarding the role of genes in the development of learning disorders. There are many facets of the city that have helped to build the great reputation that Paris holds, and if it was not for the rich history that this cityhas, it would not be the admirable city that it is today. Throughout the late 18th and 19th centuries, many different obstacles arose for the city of Paris. Napoleon III was still in power, but during this time, Paris transformed into the Paris that many know today. In Emile Zola s The Belly of Paris, is set in Les Halles, which is the central market in Paris during the 19th century. A major theme in this novel which also helps to describe how Paris changes during this century is the struggle between the fat and the thin. Unlike today, Paris viewed fat people as wealthy and privileged, because they were obviously able to afford luxurious foods. Thin people, on the contrary, were viewed as poverty stricken people who could not afford to eat. Zola describes the main character, Florent: No, hunger had never left him. He wracked his brains, but could not recall a single moment when his stomach had felt full. He had become dry and withered; his stomach seemed to have shrunk; his skin clung to his bones (Zola 12). Unfortunately, 19th century Paris had a large divide between the rich and the poor and it was visible by how fat or thin people were. Although Florent had just arrived in Paris after escaping his arrest, this quote perfectly describes how poverty affected society in 19th century Paris. In addition, this novel also helps to describe the terrible working and living conditions of the poor during this time. A particular family s living conditions is described: It was in the cellars under the poultry market that they found a way of continuing to sleep together. Near the slaughtering blocks were some big baskets of feather in which they could stretch out... Usually they would drag their basket away from the gaslight; they were alone in the strong smell of poultry, kept awake by the sudden crowning of the cocks in the dark (Zola 161). This couple went to what seems to be the ends of the earth to find a somewhat comfortable sleeping situation, although it is still very bad. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was killed in 1934 by FBI agents in Illinois three months after his partner in crime, John Dillinger, was found and killed by the FBI. He was 25 when he died. His wife was sentenced a year in jail. He was a bank robber, gangster, smuggler, and killer. He killed more FBI agents in the line of duty than anyone else. His childhood had everything to do with how and why Lester Gillis became George Nelson. When he was a young teenager, he was in a gang in Chicago. He became known as Baby face Nelson by the members of the gang. As an adult, he was five feet and four inches tall and weighed roughly 133 pounds (FBI, pg.1). This component lead to the violence and disregard he demonstrated towards other people and the law all throughout his life. The nature vs nurture theory describes that genetics can cause predispositions to mental illnesses, or behaviors that lead people to make poor decisions or even become criminals. (Good Therapy, pg. 1) The reasons behind George Nelson is mostly accountable towards his environment and how he was raised. From a young age, Nelson proved to have behavioral problems with others. When he was seven, he went to state reformatory for a year after he shot another child in the jaw with a pistol he found. The film also accurately portrays why the American Revolution started within the opening sequence of the film; that being the revolt against british taxation without any American representation. The American Revolution came about, fundamentally, because by 1763 the English speaking communities on the far side of the Atlantic had matured to an extent that their interests and goals were distinct from those of the ruling classes in the mother country. • 25. The Achievements Of A Hero In Gilgamesh And The Odyssey In Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, the authors describe the achievements of a hero during a particular period of time. Despite being written thousands of years apart, Homer presented the importance of perseverance and loyalty because he wanted to show how strong willed people are in returning home safely to stay with their loved ones. Both Gilgamesh and Odysseus developed a strong desire to search for the true meaning of life because it arouses their curiosity. These stories focuses primarily on the protagonists going through the transition to maturity due to a series of events. The literary techniques that both authors used reveals two separate intentions and different conclusions. While Mitchell uses symbolism to show how Gilgamesh evolve into a true epic hero, Homer uses imagery to portray how Odysseus changes for the better during his journey. One similarity between the books is that both characters are extremely prideful. The arrival of Endiku had a major impact on Gilgamesh because he never saw anyone who was as strong as him. From the moment they became friends, Gilgamesh always had an urge to go on adventures with him because he wanted to test his strength and loyalty. One day, Gilgamesh points out that, Now we must travel to the Cedar Forest, where the fierce monster Humbabalives. We must kill him and drive out evil from the world. (Mitchell, pg.91). What Are The Legal Issues Related To The Ford Motor Company Memorandum TO: Jonathan Foster, Head of the Legal Analytics Department FROM: Sawyer Folks, Business Analyst DATE: April 27, 2015 SUBJECT: Ford Motor Company Background The Ford Motor Company has had a rather tarnished legal history. Ford got into some hot water in the 1990s and 2000s over multiple safety scandals. One of these scandals occurred in 1996 and involved faulty ignition switches that would short and cause fires. The ignition switch scandal then led to Ford being sued by State Farm for neglecting to release information about the faulty ignition switches and their tendency to start fires. Perhaps the most famous Ford safety scandal of all took place during the 1970s when Ford released the Pinto. As a consequence of a poor design, the fuel tank was located near the cars bumper and had virtually zero protection mechanisms in place. This design flaw led to many fatal explosions from the car being struck from behind. Ford ended up having to pay millions of dollars in civil cases as a result of injuries and deaths related to the design of the Pinto. Ford had to fork over $125 million dollars in damages in just one civil case, although this was a special case. There were other cases in which Ford executives were found innocent of any murder charges at all. There was a very diverse and wide spectrum of cases related to the Pinto incident. This act welcomed by those that thought that the veto of the permanent five in the United Nations Security Councilsometimes block necessary cases of intervention. According to Sarooshi (2001) they believe morality should trump legality where governments commit mass atrocities. Some claim NATO s action is legal because it represents the crystallization in state practice of a new customary law of humanitarian intervention. The principle of Responsibility to Protect(R2P) was endorsed by the United NationsGeneral Assembly in 2005 and in 2006 the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reaffirmed the R2P principle. Lyon (2009) questions the validity of the R2P discourse. He describes it as a normative advancement of the idea of humanitarian intervention. International Business And Multinational Corporations The end of the 1980s experienced a visible change experienced in the literature concerning MNE functions and nature of business (Segal Horn and Faulkner, 2010). Before 1980s, the main research in MNE field was about analyzing relation between affiliates and headquarters of the firm, and also decisions concerning making investment in foreign country, which was also experienced in Dunning s work. After that, the focus was shifted to operations concerning coordination in management of a network of affiliates of an MNE and analysis of the competitive advantages received by these affiliates from the respective economies. Their main aim is to maximize the competitive advantage for the particular MNE through integration of global activities and local differences within each foreign unit. In the modern perspective, two main theories, i.e. network based theory and knowledge based theory of MNE, are prevalent, which are explained hereunder (Forsgren, 2008). The most importance sources of competitive advantage for MNEs are their affiliates. This is because affiliates establish a deep rooted and long term connection with their local partners and through this new knowledge information can be established. Such knowledge is implicit and is inserted in a particular context. Inserted or embedded knowledge itself is implicit and is also specific to a context (Pedersen, 2014). It is also entrenched in the inter dependent activities of the employees and staff members who observe shared experiences as well as values. These traits cause more complexity and confusions in terms of barriers for transferability of such knowledge (Stephan, 2013). This affiliate embeddedness in relation with stakeholders within the business network actually opposes business contact made traditionally, in which firm used to make connections with only consumers and suppliers and relation used to end with the exchange (Lundan, 2002). • 39. Quotes On Hester Prynne Hester Prynne adulteress and sinner, but also strong, courageous and kind. She lives with the first two words as her identity, with the scarlet A as her name tag; A reminder to everyone and herself of her sins. In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne; Hawthorne expresses his belief that everyone has an equal potential for sin, what causes people to be different from each other is how they react to their sin. The sins committed by people can affect them differently than how it may affect another person. Sin is not something that everyone feels the same way about. Lucius Annaeus Seneca makes a point saying that: The first step in a person s salvation is knowledge of their sin . There is no way we can resolve our sins alone. We can only acknowledge our sin and repent; We can try to be the best versions of ourselves but sin does not just disappear. It is a daily trouble everyone s life, sin changes every person from the individual they are supposed to be. For example, Hester accepts what she has one and tries to move on and redeem herself by helping the poor and raising her daughter. On the contrary, Chillingsworth dwells in his sins and submits to what he had done making him become dark and satan like. He no longer can recognize admirability, he has a focused on revenge and hate. There are also people comparable to Dimmesdale, who hide their sins in shame of what they have done, unable to move on. The Scarlet Lettergenuinely shows the difference between the Puritan s view of sin versus the Romantics view of Sin. The Puritan church is deeply adamant that all sins should be punished; sin not easily forgiven and forgiveness is to be earned if possible. The entire scene is very hypocritical. The leaders and ministers hold themselves on a pedestal, as though they have never done wrong. An impeccable example; Arthur Dimmesdale, the man who Hester has an affair with, ironically the one who is questioning her and trying to convince her to tell the leaders who the father was. He knew without a doubt Pearl was his daughter. He was playing clue; keeping himself unblemished. Hester is a symbol of the new Romantic Era that was to come shortly after the uptight Puritan Church. Essay on The French New Wave The French New Wave In 1959 early 1960 five directors released debut feature length films that are widely regarded as heralding the start of the French nouvelle vague or French New Wave. Claude Chabrols Le Beau Serge (The Good Serge, 1959) and Les Cousins (The Cousins, 1959) were released, along with Francois Truffauts Les Quatre cents coups (The 400 Blows, 1959), Jean Luc Godards A boutde souffle (Breathless, 1960) and Alain Resnais Hiroshima mon amour (Hiroshima my love, 1959). The number of American features increased tenfold while French film output reduced to just seventy eight features a year. Similar agreements with other European countries worsened the situation as countries which traditionally relied on French Cinema were being saturated by Hollywood. This caused an outrage within the industry and in 1948 the French Government introduced legislation which brought back a quota on American films of 121 per year. Along with this quota, legislation was introduced which would shape the French film industry throughout the 50s. Major bank loans were made available for stable production companies to finance future films and a new admissions tax was introduced. If a film was successful then a large fund would build up which the government made specifically available to producers to fund future films. This encouraged production companies to make popular and safe films with star names and well known stories, and discouraged experimentation. Throughout the early and mid 50s many literary adaptations, costume dramas and huge co productions with cast and crew drawn from both France and other European countries were made. When the price is lowered to $420, and R D for the product lowered to 25% then, the tablet will perform better than its competitors in the market. At this time, the total sales will be 1, 371, 992 in 2012, and 2, 316, 675 in 2013. However, according to SLP 3 that would mean that the company would have to reduce the production volume to achieve default run profitability. On the other hand, if the company increases the cost of X6 tablet to $450 and R D to 40% it would mean that the customers pay the same for the tablet as they pay for other competing tablets in the market. In that case, it would call for a decision on the side of the customer based on their loyalty for them to purchase the tablet. In so doing, the organization will register a sale volume of $1, 854, 036 in 2014 and $2, 337, 247 in 2015. If the company will increase the price further to $470 and increase R D to 45%, then tablet X6 will be less expensive for customers to buy than competing tablets. With that change, the company will make sales of 2, 337, 247 in 2014 and 1, 180 751 in 2015. The reason for the decline will be because the product will have reached the shakeout stage where the number of new customers will progressively decline (Calvin, 2002).
