I think Fields lived a very interesting and dynamic life; he had a chance to pursue
his dream of research in mathematics and got to become lifelong friends with the

In this response, I will go into detail and explain three organizational principles that
are used to structure law enforcement agencies. Those principles that I will talk
about are Chain of Command, Unity of Command, and Span of Control I will
provide reasoning to backup my position for better understanding. Chain of
Command Chain of command, also referred to as a scalar principle, is an
organization mechanism that establishes formal lines of communication within a
police department (Cordner, 2016, p.116). I am sure that we all have heard the

orders from more than one superior (Cordner, 2016, p.119). In my opinion, I agree
that on subordinate shouldn t take orders from more than one superior. However,
these situations will begin to start confusion. From my personal experience, I was
in a situation where I was confused about whose instructions to actually follow.
Nevertheless, as your them being your supervisors you wouldn t want to ignore

On July 21, 1861, two armies, one confederate and the other Union, prepared for the
first major land battle of the Civil War. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as
President.
The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter
on April 12 1861.
After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war
by raising armies. This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training

The Confederates at Manassas knew far ahead of this action due to many Southern
spies in Washington. The Southern troops spread in lines along eight miles of Bull
Run Creek. The heaviest Southern troops were on a ridge around Henry House. After
a few skirmishes, the Union Army arrived at Bull Run on July 21, 1861.
As the Union Army approached Bull Run, General Johnston s army faked an attack
at Harpers Ferry. As the 18,000 Union troops dug in for assault, the Southern forces
jumped on rail cars and headed for Bull Run to reinforce the Confederate Army.
General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west,
and began several attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the
Confederate line at Henry House.
As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear
down the Confederate lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall
back, an officer pointed out a line of rebels who were still strong. He said, look at

The Importance Of Characters In Age Of Innocence
It is common to see, in both literature and in real life, people judging those who are
different than people around them. This is a universal idea, and is present in the
novels of Age of Innocence, where we are introduced to the glamorous lifestyle of
the elite New York society, and also in Ironweed, which focuses on those suffering
from the effects of the Great Depression. People often think of themselves as
superior to those who do not follow social norms of society, as seen with Ellen s
forced isolations, Helen refusing to do things that are below her, and finally in my
own life, when I travel to India and am judged based on my own differences caused
by growing up with a different societal rules and codes. In Age of Innocence, we
are introduced to Ellen Olenska, a character who has just returned to New York
after separating from her husband and living in Europe for almost her entire life. It
is clear to see that Ellen is different from the rest of the upper New York society.
The way she decorates her house, how she lives in a bohemian neighborhood, and
going to parties thrown by common people are all different ways of how she
disregards the social codes set in place by this elitesociety. However, it is obvious
how because of these differences, she is isolated and thought of as lower than the
rest of them. For example, when Mrs. van der Luyden talks to Newland Archer
after he is talking to Ellen, it shows that when people break social codes, there is a

imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses magnetic resonance

It is not easy to be in the public s eye and constantly being watched can take a toll
on a person. Hundreds of child stars have grown up to be consumed with
depression, eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, and severe self esteem
issues. So why would children that perform in child and teen beauty pageants be
any different? They are constantly being judged by their looks, their actions, their
poise and posture, their attitude and behaviors, the list goes on and on. That could
severely affect the way these children see themselves as they get older. When a
child is constantly being watched and criticized in every aspect, they develop a
complex and a need to be perfect, when in fact perfection does not exist. This is
when their depression or drug addictions might seep in, when they realize they can
never live up to the standards that others have set on them. This is a very dangerous
place to be, and no child or teenager should have to suffer through such a time as
this. Childhood should be full of playing outside with friends, going to the pool or
amusement park, visiting the beach or the mountains with family. It shouldn t consist
of maintaining perfection with all the fakeness day in and day out, or there could be
some very real consequences that might follow. Although there are massive amounts
of negatives that go along with child beauty pageants, there are also some positive

Two Kinds by Amy Tan is a story that shows a battle that starts with the narrator and
her mother, for control over the narrator s life. Her mother wanted her to become a
prodigy, but she wanted to be anything other than that. So, throughout the short
story Two Kinds she s determined to not quit the fight. Two Kinds is filled with
different forms of conflict which allows for the narrator to realize that her mother s
crazy antics were to help her find what she was good at. Which leads to the narrator

Yet she didn t see the idea of being able to become anything, and that s because she
was raised in America. From her being raised in America the perception of being
anything you wanted to be wasn t huge in her mind due her not experiencing a form
of tragedy or struggle to allow her to see that with time and effort anything is possible.
A second indication was her battle with herself and the idea of being anything. To
achieve success at the highest level for which she is capable gave her the feeling of
striving for perfection. Sometimes the prodigy in me became impatient. If you don t
hurry up and get me out of here, I m disappearing for good, it warned. And then you
ll always be nothing (130). The narrator s thought of being nothing based on how her
mother was raising her projected the idea of being a disappointment, due to her
mother pushing for a prodigy to emerge from within her and becoming a person
worth wanting to be. The idea of no achievement made it harder for her as she grew
up, due to the extensive test her mother would give her during dinner. One night I
had to look at the Bible for three minutes and then report everything I could
remember. Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance and...that s all I
remember, Ma. I said. And after seeing, once again, my mother s disappointed face,
something inside me began to die (130). Having the thought of failing in the eyes of
her mother made it harder for her to look at herself.
