LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

2. In Praise of Jared Diamond s Guns, Germs, and Steel Essay
In Praise of Jared Diamond s Guns, Germs, and Steel
Jared Diamond s bestseller Guns, Germs, and Steel (GG S) is an attempt to explain why some
parts of the world are currently powerful and prosperous while others are poor. Diamond is both a
physiologist and a linguist who spends a good deal of his time living with hunter gathers in Papua
New Guinea. As a researcher and as a human being, he is convinced that all people have the same
potential. Hunter gatherers are just as intelligent, resourceful, and diligent as anybody else. Yet
material success isn t equally distributed across the globe. Civilization sprung up in relatively few
places and spread in a defined pattern. I should emphasize that Diamond doesn t equate material ...

Diamond argues that civilization arose from regions that were susceptible the domestication of both
plants and large mammals to plow fields. This combination vastly increased food production, which
in turn supported larger populations. From there, it s the standard political economy story about the
positive feedback loop of prosperity and social complexity favoring the evolution of more complex
forms of social organization, specialization, increased technical innovation, etc. This is the Guns
and Steel part of the story.
Diamond s account has an interesting twist, though. Most epidemic diseases are zoonotic, that is,
they are incubated in domestic animals. Crowding facilitates the spread of disease. Peoples who
spent thousands of years living near each other and their animals developed resistance to many
communicable diseases. Groups who weren t subject to these pressures did not develop the same
resistance. When Europeans came to the Americas after centuries of urban life, their diseases
decimated the indigenous populations. The guns and steel also facilitated the conquest, but
Diamond thinks the germs were the key factor.
Some critics have misinterpreted several key aspects of Diamond s argument. One critic writes:
Hey! No large domestic animals, so there s your excuse for a failure in the Americas. But there was
a domestic mammal throughout the two continents:

Should the United States Drill for Oil in the ANWR? The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or
ANWR is one of the largest areas of protected land in the world. It encompasses areas of Alaska
and Northwestern Canada. The area was initially set aside by President Eisenhower in 1960,
because of the area s value to the environment. What with it being part of the shrinking tundra, and
the only protected tundra in the United States. However, despite the environmental significance of
the ANWR to the surrounding areas, parts of the United States government would like to drill for
oil in this important area. According to a study by the Gallup organization, support of the drilling
has gone down in recent years. On top of that, more recent studies are... Show more content on

What if, this debate might not be necessary in the first place? What if the notion of the oil a vast
amount of oil isn t tangible? According to the United States Geological Survey or the USGS, the
amount of oil in the ANWR is between 5.7 and 16 million barrels. The process of extracting the oil
will be nowhere near to being done by 2030. While this means a more stable business, it also means
that the drilling will have a much longer living effect on the area. Also, according to the
Environmental Information Administration, or the EIA, even with the nation s shrinking
dependency on foreign oil with a boom in fracking, current imports of petroleum are far greater than
the ANWR will ever produce. Many groups would argue by mentioning that the ANWR drilling is
positive because it will reduce the United States reliance on foreign oil, which saves the United
States money. In response to this, the National Resources Defense Council stated that the ANWR s
oil would only serve as a distraction from the United States foreign oil dependency. As stated earlier,
the ANWR just doesn t contain enough

4. Essay about Comapring Porters 5 Forces for the Airline...
Assignment # 1
Strategic Practice Exercise: (page #81)
1. Score each competitive force in the airline industry and provide a brief rationale for your
assessment.
В·Rivalry Among Existing Firms: (High)
When one major company in an industry makes a change in costs or services that could
potentially increase their clientele, a major competitor almost always follows suit. Price matching
is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. West Jet is one company that offers flights
at a discount and forced Air Canada to create new banners to compete with the discounted prices.
All major companies and firms in an industry watch each other s every move very carefully, and
match any move with a countermove. During slow season in the airline ... Show more content on

Therefore, the threat of substitution is a significant factor in the airline industry. However, if a
customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose
the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative.
В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium)
Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of
power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is
cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may
be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the
buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the
seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to
put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of
products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed
costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires
and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment
malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers
in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium.

Analysis of a poem Horses by Edwin Muir It is said that one should forget the past and live in the
present
It is said that one should forget the past and live in the present.
However, Edwin Muir s Horses is a poem of past memories only. The interesting part is that it
deals with many conflicts and issues which are prevalent even today. It is thus a bridge between the
past and present and is expressed in the form of a piece of literature. Muir himself said that in
writing about horses in this poem, he was reflecting his childhood view of his father s plough
horses, which must have seemed huge, powerful and mysterious to a boy of four or five. Some of
his poems, including Horses , have a close equivalent in passages from ... Show more content on

Under the great hulks of these creatures he sees is however another truth. The way these symbols
of power trod, allows the reader to infer another thought. Muir talks about the ritual of trodding
hooves turning the field beneath to brown. This can relate to the nuclear tests taking place, the
desire for power and how it would destroy the earth just as the horses trodding was literally
destroying the earth underneath. The line, Gleamed with a cruel apocalyptic light, has an even
greater significance when he talks as if an apocalyptic war has taken place and the world has come
to an end. In Muir s time, this could obviously refer to the World War or perhaps a civil war and
maybe future wars as well. The manner in which the poet expresses great anguish at the fact that
this anger and blind hatred has left nothing in its wake, throws light on where the world is headed.
The third verse also suggests subjugation of the powerful and privileged over the Underprivileged.
The conquering hooves show the might of the powerful class who dominate the suppressed and
force them into subservience. Muir is depicting the power struggle and hegemony that will always
be prevalent in the world despite opposing views of
Charles Edward Markham. The latter, states in his poem, Man with the
Hoe , after the Silence of centuries , how the oppressed took back their power

6. Justification And Theory Of Justification
Is a coherence theory of justification preferable to a foundationalist theory of justification? The
purpose of this essay is to justify why coherence theory of justification is preferable to a
foundationalist theory of justification, I will start by explaining what Coherence the theory of
justification and foundationalist theory of justification is. Coherence theory of justification also
known as coherentism, is a theory of epistemic justification, this theory implies that in order for a
belief to be justified it must belong to a coherent system of belief, For a system of beliefs to be
coherent, the beliefs that creates that system must cohere with one another. (Murphy, 2007) As an
epistemological theory, coherentism opposes foundationalismand infinitism and attempts to offer
a solution to the regress argument. In this epistemological capacity, it is a theory about how
belief can be justified,(Audi, 2002) If were looking at coherentism as a technical notion. It s
much easy to explain it as a set of beliefs that is coherent when they are logically consistent, and
in addition they fit together in ways that let them explain and help support each other. So for
example, this is not a coherent set of beliefs: {the moon came out yesterday, 3+3=6}. That s not a
coherent set of beliefs because its factors don t correlate they have anything to do with each other
and they don t relate to each. Neither is this a coherent set of beliefs: {the first child I saw at

In 2010 the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) came out
with a commercial that would shock the advertisement industry. The effectiveness of this
commercial is proven, simply by watching the reactions of the commercial s viewers. For those
who have never seen the video it has a very sad and morose tone to it. The commercial begins with
showing pictures and videos of sufferinganimals with the song Angel playing in the background.

While those clips are being shown, the song In the Arms of an Angel by Sarah McLachlanis being
played in the background. Slides with different statistics are being shown as well. The song In the
Arms of an Angel is the major aspect of the commercial that really sets the tone. The tone of the
song is depressing and gloomy but grabs the attention of the audience at the same time. The main
point of the commercial is to convince the audience to be an angel , by saving the abused animals
dying in the shelters. The song used is a perfect tool to convince the audience to be an angel and
help the animals. Even though the music is a large part of setting the tone, the clips and pictures
are equally as moving. Showing pictures of abused and suffering animals is a great way to get
the audience s attention and cause them to become sympathetic to the animals. Very few people
in the world are unfazed when they see a video or picture of a helpless and suffering dog or cat. I
looked at a lot of the related videos on YouTube and many of them are reaction videos. The
videos show the audience s reaction to the commercial. In more than 99 percent of the videos that
I saw the viewer is in tears at the end. If a commercial that brings the audience to tears is not a
perfect example of pathos then I don t know what is.

Canada has a rather large support for Palliative care. This form of care can take place in several
different settings such as, hospitals, long term care facilities, home or hospice. The care can be
provided by nurses, physicians, social workers, spiritual advisors, trained volunteers, family and
loved ones. (Health Canada, 2010) Once again this form of care is not required under the Canada
Health Act, it is up to the province/territory to determined coverage. Certain provinces/territories

10. Persuasive Essay On California Drought
California is currently breaking the state record for longest ongoing drought, now entering it s
fourth year. This drought has taken over 98% of the state. Out of that large percentage, over 44% is
in exceptional drought, which is the worst level of drought. There s uncertainty about how long this
drought will continue into the future and how severe the problem will become.
Droughts are caused a number of different ways. Changes in wind patterns move the clouds and
moisture through the atmosphere, which can result in an area having abnormal amounts of rain or
snow over an extended period of time. 4.4 million acre feet of water from the Colorado River is
entitled to California annually. In areas where most water used comes from rivers, droughts can be
caused from places upstream that are not getting enough moisture. In many cases, humans play a
big role in droughts. Excessive use of water during times of regular rainfall lead to not having
enough water during droughts. Chopping down trees makes it tough for soil ... Show more content

Lack of water makes regular activities such as washing dishes, bathing, cooking, etc., much
more difficult. Not only is California affected negatively by this drought, but our whole nation
is suffering. Being our country s leading producer of food, it has become less simple for
California s farmers to grow mass amounts of fruits and vegetables. The scarcity of water for
food production has caused the prices of food to rise. Since the drought keeps vegetation dry, it has
become vulnerable to intense wildfires. These wildfires create many issues within the ecosystem
such as air pollution, destruction of habitat, and wildlife death. Though most of California s
wildlife is adapted to short term dry climate, living in these conditions for an extensive period of
time has increased perishability and reduced reproduction of

12. Benefits Of Tryouts
For hundreds of years sports have been used as a way for kids and adults to cope with stress but
now with all these talented players it s no longer fair for the talented players to play with the
terrible players so in order to keep the talented players happy they created tryouts. Tryouts are a
kind of physical test that are used to determine what players are talented and deserve a spot on
the team and what players aren t very good and shouldn t be playing with good players. Tryouts
are beneficial for both players and schools because it allows poor schools to play and it reduces
the number of players and therefore helps develop gifted players. Tryouts cut down moneyby letting
those who are good stay making it better for games that are very costly such as football. This is
why many believe that sports are beneficial because they don t put poorer schools in debt, also it
doesn t make schools have to pay to get the materials needed, and finally they make it fair for the
good players by giving them more playing time.
My first reason why I believe tryouts are beneficial is because they don t put poor schools in debt
for expensive games because they wouldn t be able to pay for things such as equipment and
transportation. This is significant to my case because the expenses for a high school team ... Show

The coral reef of the Bahamas is home to a large variety of different organisms including
sponges, fish, anemones, sea stars, and crustaceans. They all use the reef as a form of resource for
food, protection from predators, or a place to live (Harborne et al. 2006). However, coral reefs all
around the world are in danger of depletion and destruction more now than ever (Richardson 1998).
Damage to the coral reefis caused by a number of factors such as increasing temperatures or
reduction of sea pH (van Hooidonk et al. 2013). These factors lead to an increase in diseases (Kuta

Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation is a well written narrative about America s
founding fathers and the years that followed the Revolutionary War. Ellis s book is appealing to
anyone who is interested in learning about the roots of our founding brothers. The book is also
well written in the aspect of not being long and drawn out into one big story. Instead, Ellis breaks
the book down in to six stories that talk about different situations with American historical figures.
Ellis uses more than one type of historical writing throughout the six stories. He uses social,
economic and political types of history throughout this book.
Overall Joseph J. Ellis showed the significant role the leaders played in the founding of our country.
Each character that Ellis brings forth in a story had a great impact not only on America then, but
also where America s nation is concerned today. Ellis also shows the importance of knowing about
the roots of the founding fathers of our nation. Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation is
not only informative, but also compelling in its stories to keep the reader intrigued.

19. The Importance Of Japanese Culture
In my multicultural paper, I will be discussing about the Japanese culture how it has influenced my
own values and traditions today, allowing me to experience a world which I was not aware of
before. Specifically, their type of food dishes is something I partake on a weekly basis with friends
and family, ranging from their usual rice balls to delicious sushi. Another trait about this culture is
being able to read their unique literature, after spending two semesters in a Japanese course at
Fullerton College, I have finally developed the ability to read Japanese in my favorite Manga
books, without needing English subtitles. Likewise, another key point that I find interesting about
this culture is how they can advance in the field of technology by creating new devices that could
help humanity. But, that is not always the case with this culture, seeing they have been known for
creating the weirdest inventions in the world, yet still bringing joy and excitement to some. Either
way, people from other cultures should take the opportunity to learn about this culture, considering
what it could return and teach, making us a diverse community. Now, I understand that not
everyone has the stomach to handle Japanese cuisine, seeing how some of their delicious meals
tend to be prepared as raw, and not cooked to the proper temperature which most people are
accustom to. However, it is worth eating if you are willing to participate in, because Japanese chefs

To Kill A Mockingbird Rough Draft Taking a stand (verb): Adopt a firm position about an issue.
This is a classic way to show someone s stand on problems in today s society, or even in the past.
In To Kill A Mockingbird (TKAM), Atticus Finch, father to Scout and Jem Finch, defends an
innocent Black man against rape charges and ends up in a spiral of hate, even though he was
merely standing for equal rights for everyone in 1930 s Alabama. Many people in real life also
took a stand for things they believed in. Taking a stand can change your community, and even the

In Nuerland the tribe is divided into three separate groups. These will be referred to as primary,
secondary and tertiary sections. They are all segments of each other as the primary is a segment
of a tribe, secondary segment of the primary, and tertiary segment of the secondary (Evens
Prichard, 1940). Members of these segments only regard themselves as a member of that segment
in relation to segments of the same kind (Evens Prichard, 1940). For the Nuer there is always an
inconsistency between definitions of your political group as your membership is only determined
by your non membership of other groups (Evens Prichard, 1940, p. 282). Specifically, in Nuerland,
the tribal system is relative. It cannot be described in the terms of a political morphology as their
relations are so dynamic.
Similarly, the Nuer segment themselves through a lineage systems. The Nuer clan is a highly
segmented system in the same way as the tribal system. The clan is segmented into the maximal
lineages which separate in major lineages which go into minimal which turn into minor lineages
(Evens Prichard, 1940, pp. 286 287). Similarly to the tribal system lineages are only distinct groups
in relation to each other. Although every Nuer village is related to a lineage this does not mean that
members of the lineage are only found within a single localised community. Rather Nuer clans are

These techniques were so popular among the Mayans that they are still used in their communities

In those areas where there was not an abundance of farm land, the Mayans had to be resourceful.
They would build stone walls on terraces in the mountainous region to level out the ground for

Tuition to attend a university or college in America has gradually been increasing making the
pursuit for a degree even more expensive than before. The escalation of the affordability of

fields predominantly due to the increase in competition for a job. Degrees are viewed as a
requirement for a numerous amount of jobs even though one is not guaranteed work in that field.
Compared to other countries around the world, America has been gradually dwindling down the
ranks in student s standardized test scores in subjects taught in school. Why has this become a
trend? The pursuit for a higher educationin America should be free for whoever meets admission

The social and cultural costs of this intermingling of sexes starts with the genders that are tied to
each sport, which then puts the individual s sexuality at question. If a woman enters a male sport

Also, if an individual is of a different race or social class, then people tend to attack that side of

of their color or the only reason why someone has the opportunity is because he/she came from a
wealthy background. Many people in today s society will find anything about someone to attack
them and prove that what that individual is doing is wrong and bad for society and/or for the

appropriately it can contribute to many social crises . It may interfere with and affect an individual

32. Structural Vulnerabilities And Link Privacy
Structural vulnerabilities and Link Privacy in Social Networks
Introduction/Background:
In social networks, a link represents a relationship between two nodes in the network. These links
can represent email conversations, web surfing, co purchases of two or more products (e.g.
Amazon), friendships (e.g. Facebook), followers (e.g. Twitter), etc. Often times these relationships
are sensitive and/or confidential in nature [ying wu] and the users are operating under the
assumption that their private relationships will not be disclosed.
In recent years the amount of data accumulated from social networks has become very large, and
there is a lot of valuable information to gain from analyzing and applying data mining to social
network data. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Neighborhood Randomization Using Sub Graph Perturbation
In order for people to mine valuable data from social network graphs they must first be given
information about the network. Even without explicit information about the nodes, an attacker
may use structural information about the nodes and graph itself (e.g. node degree) to identify
who the individuals are that the nodes represent. Simple graph wise randomization addresses this
problem by deleting k randomly chosen edges and replacing them with k randomly chosen edges,
however a problem arises since data miners depend on these structural attributes to properly
analyze the social network. Fard and Wang [fard wang] propose a structure aware algorithm for
the randomization of social network edges as well as a formal definition of link privacy with
respect to a probabilistic threshold. Their motivation is to help conceal sensitive links by using
randomization techniques, without disturbing the actual structure of the graph, which is achieved
through local neighborhood perturbation. This is needed so that graphs can be analyzed without
the link structure being left entirely vulnerable to attackers. The goal of their algorithm is to make
it so that an adversary cannot know if a link in the original graph exists from having a link in the
new graph.

34. Skeletal System
The Musculoskeletal and Nervous Systems D1) The skeletal system is separated into the axial
skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton consists of the skull and bones of the
trunk, such as the spine. The appendicular skeleton is made up of the bones of the limbs that are
appended to the axial spine. The axial bones have various specific functions. For example, the
function of the skull is to protect the brain. The flat bones that compose the skull also supply
attachment for facial muscles. The main purpose of the ribcage is to protect vital organs such as
the heart and lungs, and also to protect the blood vessels. The vertebral column s main function is
to support the head and trunk while protecting the spine. (Phillip E.... Show more content on

These bones share one function, and that is movement. The function of the long bones in the legs is
also to support body weight.
Aside from the basic mechanical functions that bones serve, they also have a function that is not
related to movement or protection. Bones also serve as a reservoir for minerals such as calcium
and phosphorus. This aids with situations such as pregnancy when the body needs more calcium,
the body removes it from the bones as needed.
Striated muscle, or skeletal muscles, attach to one bone, extend across an articulation, and attach to
another bone. Bones move due to muscles contracting. The origin of the muscle tends to remain
stationary, and the insertion of the muscle is usually the point of movement. For example, when a
knee bends, the popliteus rotates the femur and this creates a flexion of the knee. The quadriceps
assists in extending the knee. (Boundless , 2016)

35. Puccini s La Boheme Essay
Puccini s La BohГЁme: An Analysis
Giacomo Puccini has written a number of operas, including Turandot, Gianni Schicchi, and
Madama Butterfly. La BohГЁme is said to be one of the most successful and enchanting operas ever
written. Written in the romantic period, the text and score interrelations play an important role in
an overall aesthetically and historically pleasing opera. In a story of love found and love lost,
Puccini uses text and score to create empathy for the characters of La Boheme. Puccini does so
particularly in the aria Donde lieta uscì, sung by Mimi towards the end of Act III.
Mimi introduces herself as a seamstress and neighbor looking for Rudolpho to light her candle.
They soon develop a romantic relationship which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This music is returned to show the yearning for the past and lets the audience, if only for a moment,
remember the carefree love that Mimi and Rudolpho initially shared.
Mimi goes on to sing Addio, senza rancor, which translates to farewell, without remorse. Although
this may seem like a rather sarcastic or bitter comment after the uplifting score in the past two bars,
this line is accompanied by two sustained chords. Puccini uses this minimalistic approach to reflect
the simplicity of the text itself. Spike Hughes, author of Famous Puccini Operas, says, there is
indeed no bitterness, but a great deal of sadness...the whole scene has a strangely moving quality of
melancholy and nostalgic regret that such things cannot go on for ever. Although there is no
bitterness, you sense a great deal of remorse. This phrase gives the sense of a moment of rest from
the silence in the instrumental to the held soprano line.
Rudolpho begins to walk away, but Mimi beckons him with an out of place Ascolta, ascolta, or
wait, wait and gives instructions of trinkets she would like him to gather. These trinkets include a
gold ring and prayer book she has left in a drawer, that she wishes Rudolpho to wrap up and she
will send someone to gather them. The score has a dissonant sense at the beginning of each phrase
to show Mimi s sadness, but in a curious contrast staccato arpeggios occur at the end of each phrase
once more reminding all that

Electricity has been here since the early 1900 s. When it started, there wasn t much demand for it
due to the fact that most people didn t have it in their houses, and that the only use for it was for
light bulbs. Then came heaters, stoves, followed by electric appliances and everything else that is
powered by electricity. Today the demand is so strong for electricity that have to find other ways
how to produce it. Currently Canada is the number one producer of electricity in the world. The
United States have to buy energy from Canada, because the demand is too strong. Our use of
electricity is causing problems to our planet so now is the perfect time to produce more solar panels.
Solar energy begins with the sun. Solar panels, also known as photovoltaics, are used to convert
light from the sun, which is composed of particles of energy called photons , into electricity that
can be used to power electrical loads. Light from the sun is a renewable energy resource that

40. Causes And Consequences Of Global Warming
The Global Issue
Over the years, the increasing concern over how and where our planet is going to be in the next
couple of decades, has been a significant debate to many. With the steady increase of fossil fuels
being released into our atmosphere, and the high cost that our planet is having to pay in order to
support and to sustain such an exponentially growing population, are we still surprised over the
consequences? Connecting everyone from one side of the world to the other, Global Warmingis a
global problem that includes everybody regardless of where you live in the world or how much
money you possess. It has also become a demanding task that requires the participation of every
human being, since everyone can ultimately still decrease their carbon footprint on the world.
Global warming is the observed overall statistical increase in the average temperature of the Earth s
atmosphere and oceans over the years, (Miller, 2006). Being one of the most important issues
facing the world today, this subject has become life or death for our planet. With the average
temperature increasing dramatically every year, consequences such as the greenhouse effect,
which is the outcome of large amounts of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by human
civilizations, has largely impacted ecosystems ranging all the way from the ocean and marine
life to even the most complex organisms, human beings. Acting as a positive feedback loop, a
lot of the things that we do, whether it s opening up a refrigerator that contain CFC s or even
just getting a plastic bag from a grocery store, are contributing to the weakening of our ozone
layer, and to the steady increase of greenhouse gases being released into the air. Plastic is
probably one of the most detrimental materials that has ever been manufactured. With the world
now using approximately six hundred billion pounds of plastic, plastic has become the familiar
cheap material that we all know and come across multiple times a day. Materials like the plastic
bag, zip lock bag, and plastic water bottles, have all been manufactured to be single use items that
are used and thrown away over and over again. Yet unlike paper litter, when plastic bags get into the

This paper will scrutinizes the actual impact of culture on financial management. Before I proceed

what I am alluding to. The assignment stipulates for me to, address if the framework of financial

Opponents of Marx say that he inverted the correlation of culture and economic relations (Guiso,
Sapienza Zingales 2006 p.5). In other words these opponents of Marx think that culture dictates the

to nature vs. nurture and origins of which came first the chicken or the egg, corresponding into
nothing more than, probably some level of both or worse an irrelevant loop, there is nevertheless an
important fundamental difference to the exact correlation of culture and the economy. Thus, I
proclaim that Marx is not only factually correct, (economy supersedes culture) but morally as well.
Marx is factually correct because I can use his hypothesis to logically dispute all claims that culture
supersedes the economy. The first prominent opponent of Marx s theory in favour of culture was
Max Weber who stipulated that the Protestant Reformation taught that the pursuit of wealth should
be regarded not merely as an advantage, but as a duty (Guiso, Sapienza Zingales 2006 p.6). This
meant that the Protestants reinforced with a new cultural imperative went on to become financially
stronger. If Marx was still alive he would have scoffed at such an exaggerated claim, stating that if it
was not for the invention of the printing press, which caused the Catholic Church to lose its
monopoly on scripture, then such a reformation would never have happened. Also the changing

45. The Wonderous Mystery of Black Holes
Just a hundred years ago in 1915 was the time Einstein created his theories of General Relativity,
thus the makings of what is known today. These theories helped predict that black holes actually
occupy the universe vastly (Wiki authors). Because black holes are virtually invisible to the
human eye, since not even light can escape their clutches, it is hard to understand something that
can t be seen or even assume it exists. Though the concept of black holes can be traced back to
1795, to Pierre Simon Laplace, who originally proposed the idea. It was Karl Schwarzchild to be
the first to start proving black holes exist from the research of Einstein and others (Freudenrich).
This was just the start of black holes becoming a major focus of astronomers and astrophysicists
globally.
The common misconception of black holes is that they are a hole in space, but the fact is, they are
a dense orb of matter that continuously grows and consumes. Popular believe is that a black hole is
a gateway through time and space but that is not the case. All someone would find at the center
of a black hole would be a dense orb a matter called the singularity, or core (Freudenrich). Black
holes do in a way distort time and space because of their immense mass yet one would die and be
burnt to a crisp before even coming close to reaching the highly dense core. If watched from the
earth, it would take an infinite amount of time to be consumed by and become a part of a black
hole, but

Parliamentary sovereignty is no longer, if it ever was, absolute (Lord Hope). Discuss with
reference to at least three challenges to the doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty. Parliamentary
sovereignty is the concept that Parliament has the power to repeal, amend or create any law it
wishes and therefore no body in the UK can challenge its legal validity. There are many people
who would argue that this is a key principle to the UK Constitution, on the other hand, there are
those who strongly believe that this idea is one of the past, and that the idea of the UK
Parliament being sovereign is false. One of these people is Lord Hope, who said Parliamentary
sovereignty is no longer, if it ever was, absolute . During the last 50 years there have been a
variety of developments that have proved to be a challenge for the legitimacy of parliamentary
sovereignty, and the ones which will be examined in this essay are: the devolution of powers to the
Scottish Parliament; The United Kingdoms entry into the European Unionin 1973; and finally the
power of judicial review. Starting with the devolution of powers, these challenges will all be
evaluated when discussing whether or not the doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty applies to the
United Kingdom. Westminster s sovereignty has been gradually diminishing over time as varying
amounts of power have been devolved to Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. In this essay, the

49. Organ Transplant Pros And Disadvantages
Organ transplants have saved the lives of many patients, and have brought nothing but happiness to
donors and their families. However, there is a constant conflict between the Human Immune system
and foreign cells. The Reason this is such a big issue is due to the fact that newly transplanted
organs can be detected, and then attacked by immune cells. This in turn, renders the organ and
operation useless; putting the patient in further danger and can even worsen their condition than
before.
Transplantation is when an organ, tissue or cell is removed from one site to another, often this is
between one body (a donor) and the body of a recipient. The number one problem with organ and
tissue transplants and that is the fact that there is a chance of transplant rejection. This chance
depends partly on the degree of genetic variation between the displaced organ and the host. A graft
is another term used to describe a piece of living tissue that is transplanted.
An Autograft is moved from on area of the body to another area of that same body and receives
no rejection. A Xenograft, occurs between two different species and would have the highest chance
of rejection. Allografts, the most common type of graft are between members of the same species
and as a result have a lower chance of rejection.
Surprisingly enough the type of transplant also affects the chances of rejection as well. For example
some sites like the eye and the brain are immunologically privileged. This means is that they have
minimal to no immune system cells and for that reason can tolerate even mismatched grafts. On the
other extreme though, the heart, kidneys and liver are highly vascular organs and lead to a
vigorous cell mediated response from the host. Since our immune systems act like a defense
system, when foreign things are introduced to our bodies this defense system always takes
precautions to ensure it s not a threat.
