Radish Seeds Lab Report
Title: How Does Electromagnetic Radiation Effect the Time it Takes a Radish Seed to Germinate?
The independent variable was the microwaved seeds. The dependent variable was the time it takes
for the seeds to germinate.
Purpose: To observe the effect of electromagnetic radiation on the germination of radish seeds.
Background: If you plant a seed, water it, give it sunlight, and good air a plant will grow. Did you
know that there is a baby plant inside every seed called an embryo? Seeds are made up of three
things, an embryo, the endosperm, and the cotyledon. The embryo in the baby plant, the
endosperm acts as a food source for the embryo, and the cotyledon are leaf like structures that
support the endosperm. The seed coat acts as a barrier that protects the inside of the seed.( Parts of
a Seed and Their Functions. CropsReview.Com. )(1)
The protection the seed coat provides varies in all seeds. Some seeds may need hard seed coats to
survive while other seeds only need a soft, fragile one. Due to the theory of evolution seed coats
have been able to adapt to their environments in order to survive. For example plants in the desert
would need a tough seed coat to protect against premature germination and extreme dryness.
(DesertUSA. Desert Seeds. Desert Seeds DesertUSA.)(2) Seeds in the forest would also need a very

An energy form that the plant may take in from the sun is called ultraviolet radiation. Enough
exposure to this radiation can cause harm in living organisms.(HollГіsy, F. Effects of Ultraviolet
Radiation on Plant Cells.)(6) Ultraviolet radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation.
Electromagnetic radiation is an energy produced by electromagnetic process. There are several
different types of electromagnetic rays.(Libretexts. Electromagnetic Radiation. )(7) In this
experiment electromagnetic rays from a microwave will be used to determine if this type of
radiation affects the germination of radish

Why Was Persepolis Important To The Persians
The establishment of the magnificent city of Persepolis was of great importance to Persia from
500 BCE to 330 BCE. This city, built by Darius was so important to the Persians because it was
the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid empire, a sacred and symbolic region for the Persians
and also because it was dedicated to hold official audiences. Through an exploration of both
primary and secondary sources, the reason behind why the establishment of Persepolis is of such
importance to the Persians gas becomes much clearer.
Darius the great beginning construction in 518 BCE established Persepolis, the capital of ancient
Persia. The reasons to its establishment is still consider a mystery but what we do know is that it
was very important during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ruled by darius and then xerxes it was considered the ceremonial capital of Persia. The
establishment of this capital further aided the Persians in ceremonies, trade and most importantly
gained respect of other countries in battle. Persepolis was the example of par excellence of the
dynasty. The first reason, which highlighted the importance, was the ceremonies. Celebrations
varied in sizes and all had different reasons. The most important ceremony that was celebrated is
the event Nowruz . Nowruz meaning new day, was the name of the Iranian New Year. This
ceremony created a majestic atmosphere for the Persians. This event celebrated the first day of
spring or Equinox at the beginning of the year in the Persian calendar. Nowruz is about the only
tradition to not resolve around a religious group. The establishment of Persepolis gave the Persians
the opportunity to celebrate as a whole. The second reason that highlighted the importance of the
establishment of Persepolis was the trade. The Achaemenid Empire was rich and luxurious. An
example of trade in Persepolis included darius revolutionising it by placing it on a silver and gold
coinage system and the popular trade items included orange, Shaw and turquoise. By establishing
Persepolis it enhanced trade in the Achaemenid Empire. The final reason that highlights the
importance of the establishment of Persepolis was their success in battle. Darius and xerxes were
highly successful in battle and there are still structures that depict the sister countries giving the
kings gifts. Some of these included lions from the elamites, brahma bull from the Babylonians and
even cloth from the Lydian bolts. Alexander involved Persepolis as a whole in the battle of the
Persian gate, which they weren t successful in which led to its destruction. Even due to this fact the
establishment of Persepolis was highly important to the

The Hero s Journey With Female Characters Within Epic...
Meela has been isolated her entire life, destined to one day inherit the role of the Thaumaturge.
When the barrier protecting the Island she lives on is destroyed, taking most of the remaining
fuel source with it, Meela sees her chance to escape. She must journey with her older sister,
Saleem, to the other side of the world in order to find their brother who has been working on a
solution. For my dissertation, I will be writing a young adult epic fantasynovel in order to explore
whether or not there is a change in expectations to the heros journey if the hero is female rather than
male. Within this, I will be investigating what it means to be a strong female character, whether a
romantic partner for the hero is needed for a successful journey, and the expectations of female
characters within epic fantasy and young adult literature, including society s expectations and
portrayal of women in the media.
In order to write about the hero s journey, I must first research what the journey usually entails in
order to understand what a hero is often faced with and whether or not gender of the hero will
affect the journey they must complete. Fantasy often borrows the theme of quest in order to
explore ideas around power (Kilian, 2007) which is always at the heart of the hero s journey.
Joseph Campbell outlined the hero s journey, referring to the hero throughout as a he . Within his
description, he implies that the only role a female character can take within the hero s

St. Clare Of Assisi Research Paper
Goodmorning Mr Capell and class, I am Cooper Webster and today I will be talking about St
Clare of Assisi. I will be speaking about this remarkable person because she impacted the church
deeply and help the poor and marginalised.
St Clare of Assisi was born July 16, 1194 in Assisi which is in Italy. She was born into a family
with another sister named Saint Agnes of Assisi. She was very wealthy child as her parents,
Favorino Scifi and Ortolana were very fortunate. During this wealthy life she saw St Francis
preaching when she was 18, he was preaching at a Lenten service in the church of San Giorgio in
Assisi. After this event she asked St Francis to help her live in the manner of the gospel. Her
parents were not happy with this because she was meant to be married into a line of family. St
Clare of Assisi left her home to go out and change the lives of a group of less fortunate people
and help them be noticed and helped more. She refused all offers from her parents and would not
stay with them, she cut her hair, traded her expensive gown for a plain one and a vail. After this
St Clare left and started a group called The Poor Ladies of San damiano , this group went out to
help a group of young homeless people and give them support. St Clare died on the 11th of

noticed that a social group in her society was suffering and being put out to an extreme manner,
She took a risk to go out and take the initiative to help cure this problem. Although her father

Foursquare Church Case Study
Question 1 The Foursquare church was founded by Aimee Semple McPherson. Another name for
her was Saint Aimee. The very first church was founded in October of 1923 located in Angelus
Temple in Long Beach, California. They also popped up in Pasadena, Santa Ana, and Santa Monica.
Today, almost all fifty states have Foursquare churches (Our Story). Most denominations are created
because of a disagreement in a previous denomination but the Foursquare church was created
differently. According to a document found on the Foursquare website called, The Holy Scriptures,
Saint Aimee was not trying to make a denomination. She was just trying to evangelize to anyone
who would listen. She started off as a traveling evangelist healing and feeding thousands of people.
She would preach to every race and gender without discrimination. Because so many people started

The Pros And Cons Of Transnational Terrorism
The New York Times says that the fear of terrorism in the United States is at levels that have not
been seen since the infamous September 11, 2001. This poll comes after the attacks in Jakarta,
Paris, and San Bernardino. Terrorism has ties all the way back to the 11th century with Al
Hashshashin. A terrorist organization must fall into two categories in order to be considered a
transnational terrorist group: involves groups or individuals whose terrorist activities cross
international borders and targeted countries that are not represented in the make up of the group
(Casserleigh, PP 4). With growing technology, working in favor of the terrorists, transnational

The harm may come in the form of attacks on innocent bystanders or economic losses. Both kinds
of losses expose a government s inability to protect its people and property, thereby causing a loss
in citizen confidence and government legitimacy (Gaibulloev and Sandler 2008, p. 1). According
to the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, the September 11 terrorist attack cost America
about two trillion dollars; this takes into account property damage, lost production of goods and
services, loss of four civilian aircraft, damage to the portion of the Pentagon, cleanup costs,
property and infrastructure damage, lost jobs, lost taxes, loss of air traffic, along with a plethora of
others. In January 2010, the United States Government reviewed transnational organized crime,
which hasn t been systematically reviewed since 1995. It was found that those fifteen years had a
significant impact on transnational size, scope and influence (Transnational Organized Crime).
Transnational organized crime poses a significant and growing threat to national and international
security, with dire implications for public safety, public health, democratic institutions, and
economic stability across the globe (Transnational Organized

is a whirlpool of changes all around.
ii) Maintaining Employee Confidence
In case of many past acquisitions, Infosys oversaw the need for a transparent communication and
inclusion of its employees during the acquisition announcement and smooth integration which is
evident from the surprises that its employees faced with acquisitions before Panaya in terms of
announcements made on public media first instead of in house and in terms of integration steps.
iii) Transition in Management
In most cases, Infosys took the safe bet of retaining the earlier CEO of the company and only add
a reporting role above him at Infosys. This ensures that there is a more trusted and familiar leader
who can smoother the transition at the new subsidiary and also give a local manager advantage as
in someone who knows the business already.

Both Angelou and Afrika contrast the situation of an African American and a white person,
conveying the emotions caused by racial discrimination, segregation, to well as making the reader
empathize and understand an African American in the setting of their poems in hopes of spreading
their message across, as both poets express that the whites in power usually don t care, nor are they

Life Coaching And What It Can Do Essay
I just wanted to spread the word about Life Coaching and what it can do to help just about anyone.
No, not every coach is suited for every client but the right coach/client combination is such powerful
tool.
I hear different variations of the following questions and statements a lot: What can a coach do
for me? , I can t afford to pay a coach! , What does SHE know that I don t know? , I don t need a
stinking Coach! OK, well I tossed the word stinking in there (smile) but I do know there are many
people who could benefit from the power of coaching but feel they don t need it.
Let me ask you a question? Who is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time? Tiger
Woods right? Well guess what, the greatest golfer of all time has a coach! In fact Tiger has had
several coaches including Butch Harmon, Hank Haney, Sean Foley and most recently Chris
Como. You see even if you are the greatest at what you do, you can always improve on that
greatness. Coaching doesn t always mean that there is something wrong with you, coaching can
help you improve on what you are already doing to make you even better.
Hopefully the following can open some eyes to the magic of this wonderful tool called life
coaching!
Coaching is an effective process used to support individuals in creating something new for their
lives. I work side by side with my clients in coaching by providing perspective and support for self

Home Depot is probably the biggest rivalry for Lowe s. Home Depot sells wood, tools, home

Federal Funding For Public Broadcasting
The purpose of this paper is to explore the pros and cons of the proposal to eliminate federal
funding to The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). In doing so, first we will explore
several facets of this issue including first the cost of funding from both a governmental and
taxpayer perspective. Secondly, understanding the services provided and the audience served is
integral in this discussion. Lastly, we will consider government s role in media and education. The
conversation, however, must start with the history, values, and goals of this organization.
It was The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 (Public Broadcasting Act of 1967), signed into law by
then President Lyndon Johnson, which created CPB, a private nonprofit corporation. ... Show more

Furthermore, the station serves as a resource for educational material for parents and teachers to
ensure their students success (Corporation for Public Broadcasting). Noteworthy examples include
Mister Roger s Neighborhood, which aired from 1968 2001, and was funded by CPB beginning in
1970. Another childhood favorite, Sesame Street, which first aired in 1969, and All Things
Considered which premiered in 1971. Considering the turbulent times of that era, the support of this
programming was a much needed breath of fresh air. Other programs include The Electric
Company, NOVA, Morning Edition, and Masterpiece Theater. The list is extensive and broad
reaching. Considering their worth to the communities in which we live, is it ethical to defund this
programming? Fred Rogers, of Mister Roger s Neighborhood, also made a significant contribution
to CPB. It was the year 1969 when the Senate Subcommittee on Communications first began
discussing cutting funds to CPB that Mr. Rogers made his plea against the proposal (Corporation
for Public Broadcasting). Almost 50 years later, this same issue is again on the table. One must
wonder how detrimental cutting funds would impact the educational programming to which Mr.
Rogers was so undeniably committed. First, let s consider the cost.

The Importance Of Marine Currentss
Marine currents are masses of salt water, which distribute differently from adjacent masses. They
may be superficial, usually warmer and deeper, which are cooler. In general, they are generated
by a difference in temperature, winds and salinity (Kampel, 1998). In Polar Regions, these
currents lose heat to the atmosphere, generating large masses of polar air, or the cold fronts ,
becoming extremely cold and dense. When the ocean freezes, the salt is adhered to the denser and
cooler mass of water, and this new pool migrates to the bottom carrying nutrients and carbon
dioxide. The water that is immediately below rises, and begins a cycle, which generates the main
route of transportation and redistribution of global energy, which takes a thousand years to go
around the globe. This process is crucial for the terrestrial climate system, as well as for nutrient
loading (resurgence phenomena) and CO2 balance. However, while currents are biogeographical
barriers, they often facilitate the dispersal of some organisms. The marine environment can be
very inhospitable and cross great distances, like an entire ocean, it is impossible for animals and
plants that are not / are adapted. In this way, the surface currents are often responsible for
genetically connecting populations that have long been isolated by the transport of seeds, larvae,
spores and propagules of different groups of organisms (BARBER et al., 2000). Sea currents are
masses of salt water, which are

Essay On Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow Laws were unlawfully placed in the south in order to take away blacks rights.
Therefore, The whites enforcing this took away their social freedoms, educational rights, and
voting rights. These actions separated and increase tension between blacks and whites. These
events go against what America was originally created for; a place to pursue life, liberty, and
happiness. Jim Crow Lawswere intended to discriminated against blacks and separate them from
whites. Viewing the Jim Crow Laws through a social lens, blacks were unlawfully separated
from whites. For example, the segregation was taken to extreme when it was deemed that it shall
be unlawful to conduct a restaurant or other place for the serving of food in the city, at which
white and colored people are served in the same room ( Jim Crow Laws ). The fact that whites
were offended and disgusted about eating in the same room as blacks is appalling, ignorant, and
discriminatory from a modern sense. Jim Crow Laws ostracized blacks in not only restaurants,
but also in other public places such as parks. According to the Jim Crow Laws, it is strictly
prohibited for colored people to frequent any park owned or maintained by the city for the benefit,

A Different Perspective On Foreign Affairs
Tony Abbott, John Howard and Kevin Rudd each have a different perspective on foreign affairs,
but there is also a common thread to their approach. In the following paper I compare and contrast
a speech made by each of them concerning foreign affairs and note the large similarity of ideology
between each of them. All speeches support a strong relationship with the United Statesof America
and active engagement in international affairs. I argue that they differ only in the nuance of
emphasis although there is some evidence of traditional realist and liberal approaches to
international politics. Howard concentrates on pragmatic state to state engagement for the benefit
of Australians. Abbott focuses more on building up the military and physical security. Rudd is the
only one of the three to emphasise that Australias foreign engagement should be for the benefit of
others, as well as Australia. Overall, however, the speeches demonstrate a greater commonality of
purpose and direction than they do divergent opinions. I argue the resulting stability of foreign
policyengagement benefits not only Australia, but the rest of the world.
The first speech of the three was given by John Howard. Howard begins his speech by describing
the wide ranging help Australia is providing to foreign countries through defence force medical
aid, the electoral commission advice and treasury counselling (Howard 2004: 2 3). Howard
describes the help Australia gives abroad as practical, broad and

Primary And Secondary Circular Reactions
The second and third stage is primary and secondary circular reactions. Throughout these stages,
babies repeat entertaining actions concentrated on their own body. The primary stage usually
appears when they are between 1 4 months old (McLeod, 2010). This is when I started to
continually kick my legs a lot, and I sucked on my thumb even more. Supposedly I smiled a
bunch, and I loved looking at myself in the mirror (Personal archives, November 23, 2015). I
also had my baptism during this stage; it was exactly a month and a week after I was born.
Being the cereal lover that I am today, I learned that I had my first cereal when I was only 4
month s old. The secondary circular reactions stage usually occurs from 4 8 months old, and I
started using more objects to keep myself entertained. My first tooth appeared when I was 6
months old. The fourth sub stage takes place from 8 12 months of age, the stageof co ordinating
secondary schemes. During this stage, babies start showing signs that they can use knowledge to
reach a goal (McLeod, 2010). This was a really huge stage for me in my life. At 8 months, I was
able to sit without having any support from anyone. At 9 months old, I started to crawl, and then I
took my first step at 10 months. Finally, I started to walk on my own at 11 months. The last two
sub stages, tertiary circular reactions and symbolic thought is basically when the baby develops
more knowledge. They may try putting broken toys back together, and this is

Introduction
Student banking is an important aspect of banks and students because it provides a suite of
financial, educational and social engagement services that collectively help students to better
understand banking and how to smartly interact with finances. In this regard, FNB should attract,
acquire, satisfy and retain students because they represent future profitability if successful
relationships are created. However for this to be done, the bank needs to successfully market itself

This will get FNB great coverage and interaction with this market. But these trends require accurate
targeting and engaging content. In their dialogues and promotional communications materials FNB
should focus on how they can best motivate their individual customer and call for their action. They
should live up to their How can we help you slogan, and really get down to helping when customers
require the assistance. In today s relationship marketing it is no more enough to track the
experiences of your customers and learn about them. It is about enriching every interaction you
have with your customers by welcome calls, helpdesk, customer service setup support, complete
customer care, complaint handling, win back programs.
FNB should also try to engage their student market with educational yet fun and interactive games
and problem solving through social media sites and mobile applications. The student market is
generally prone to participate in fun and rewarding competitions. FNB could attract the student
market by teaming up with party events and night clubs that will allow students discounts on
entrance fee as well as drinks. This would be an effective way to communicate with this market and
really grab their attention.
The 6 core value chain aspects will now be discussed:

The Internet And The Dark Web
President Trump is expected to sign into law a decision by Congress to overturn new privacy
rules for Internet Service Providers (ISP). This means that US ISPs will soon no longer need
consent from users to share browsing history with marketers and other third parties. What is the
Dark Web? The Dark web is a part of the commercial internet that is not accessible thru regular
internet browser software (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox). Designed in 1995 by the United
States Naval Research Laboratory of the Office of Naval Research (ONR), United States Navy, the
original version of the onion routing system was intended to provide communications that were
resistant to both eavesdropping and traffic analysis. The Naval Research Laboratory... Show more

What possible applications can a secure, encrypted and untraceable network have? As Danny
Bradbury states in his article The dark web is a secretive, anonymous place where shadowy
users access hidden services. It can be used for good or bad . A pretty good example of how this
type of technology could be used in a perverse or wrongful way, are the many black market
websites that are available throughout the environment. This type of markets emerged around
the year 2003 and by 2013 it was already generating sales up to 180 million dollars per year, with
over 35 vendors exceeding over 1 million dollars of sales on illegal products. One of the most
popular market names was Silk Road, during the year of 2012 this market averaged weekly sales
of approximately 475 thousand dollars. This site provided sales for many illegal items and
services, that include but were not limited to stolen accounts for sale, money laundering
services, malware trade, passports and citizenships for sale, leaked details: government, law
enforcement, and celebrities, and assassination services. The first Silk Road site was taken
down in Oct 2013 by the FBI, and its creator (Ross William Ulbricht) placed in jail, but not before
he made a fortune. Not even two months after the site was taken down Silk Road 2.0 emerged,
providing the same type of services hosted by the original site. Up to this date, the authorities does

Child Labor Research Papers
Child labor is an important issue, that many people are not aware of. Child labor is occurring in
many countries, and we need to prevent it. I know some people may disagree with me, but child
labor is a serious issue. Children who work at a young age are more likely to quit school early,
they work in toxic hazardous conditions, and they receive harsh punishment from their employers.
Americans should not support businesses that use child labor to make goods because if they do
they would be encouraging the use of children to work day and night making products to please
other countries. Children s developmental process is hurt if they start working at a young age.

This means that shocks that force parents to send their children to work might have a permanent
effect on the child s future earning potential, (Child labor: myths, theories, and facts). When
children start working early in their childhood, it is most likely that they are in poverty and trying to
support their families, but by working at such a young age is taking away from the children s
developmental process. When children do not attend school anymore, to work they are losing a
lot of their potential. Americans should not support businesses where children have to quit school
to work day and night, losing most of the potential that they have, and maybe not receiving any of
it back, because they have to work to support their families. Child labor usually occurs within
poverty, or difficult living situations/conditions. Child labor tend to be a phenomenon related to
poverty and difficult social conditions rather than the perverse preferences of the parents, (Child

unsanitary factory, where children are receiving abuse, but they have no choice because of the
poverty they are in, and the difficult social conditions. Yes, by having your child work at a young

Golfers
Executive Summary
GolfLogix was founded in May of 1999 by Todd Kuta and Scott Lambrecht. The GolfLogix
system used Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and came equipped with a handheld
receiver called the xCaddie. The xCaddie made it easier for golfers to measure the distance
between their current position and the green. This concept helped diffuse the frustrations of the
golfers themselves and of the other golfers who were waiting on the course. In 2002, GolfLogix
was faced with the decision of whether or not to keep focusing their target market on the individual
golf courses or to start marketing directly to consumers. After researching the company, its
competitors, and the industry, we were able to consider both options and ... Show more content on

The xCaddie was easy for the golfers to read and it enabled the golfers to view their distances in
both yards and meters. The product also included custom features that would tailor to the different
needs of the different golfers (Gourville 1).
After deciding they wanted to carry out the idea, the two men first had to find out if such a
device would be legal in the United State Golf Association (USGA). They found that the standard
rule for using a GPS was that it could be used for recreational golf but could not be used during
tournament play (Gourville 3). By May 2002, GolfLogix consisted of six full time employees
and had managed to raise $12 million. Although the company seemed to have a great start in the
industry, there were many measurement systems that were currently being used by golf courses
all around the world, including the yardage markers, sprinkler heads, yardage booklets, and
rangefinders (Gourville 4). The yardage markers are considered the most widely used tool for
golfers to measure the distance between the green and their current position. The yardage markers
are typically colored plastic or concrete plates that are embedded in the center of the fairway. The
sprinkler head system involves marking the distances on the sprinkler heads. There are typically ten

The First Type Of A Person Essay
An individual can be one of three types of people when he is trying to remember someone. The
first type is someone who would off the bat recognize the other person as being familiar, but just
cannot recall that person s name in that exact moment. The second type would be someone who
recognizes the person by name, but would not recognize him when he sees him in person. The
third type is the person would be the star individual who could correctly recognize the person
and confidently greet the person by name. The majority of my friends, as well as myself, often
lean towards the first type of person. The feeling that the word, such as the name of a person, is
within grasp, but for some reason, you are incapable of verbalizing the word is known as the tip
of the tongue phenomenon. It is also frequently referred to as its abbreviated name: TOT. More
often than not, we are used to hearing about your parents or someone older who you know
experiencing episodes of forgetting where they placed items, such as their car keys, are. As
troublesome as it may be, it is merely a symptom of growing older.
As we age, our memory will start to deteriorate along with our youthful appearance, causing us to
have a harder time to recall information, such as names. Information lasting more than 30 seconds
in your mind gets moved from your working memory to your long term memory where it is stored
for the rest of your life. Psychologists believe long term memory is unlimited whereas short term or

By concluding all definitions we can say that labor union is Organization whose membership
consists of workers and union leaders, and whose principal purposes are to negotiate wages and
working condition terms, regulate relations between workers (its members) and the employer,

implemented by the then Prime Minister William Pitt but they did not succeed and faced even
more bitter laws like The Gagging Act (1817), Six Acts etc. Relief was started with the
introduction of the Master and Servant Act (1867), the trade union act (1871), Conspiracy and
property act of (1875), The Employer s Liability Act (1880). However the unions got their real
strength in 1913 after the implementation of Trade Union Act which gave the unions the right to

How Did The Stamp Act Cause Human Conflict
Human conflict is certain to occur, if taxation continues. The American Revolution (1775 1783)
and the French Revolution (1789 1799) are great examples to demonstrate conflict regarding this
cause. Concerning the American Revolution, On March 22nd 1765, the British Parliament issued
a law called the Stamp Act that applied to the American colonies, known as the 13 colonies. This
law required a tax on all printer paper, which some include, magazines, newspapers and to the
extreme in which playing cards was also taxed. This law was acquired as a result of the British
Empirehaving major debt thus the Seven Year s War, which occurred in the years 1756 through
1763. The British decided to tax the Americans, as they believed it was necessary as a result of the
colonies obtaining advantages of British troops. In order to clarify that the... Show more content on

Further more, On October 1765, twenty seven representatives came together and agreed upon
fourteen resolutions, which was directly sent to the King and the parliament. This attempt was
known as the Stamp Act Congress. The reason why the act has lead to cause certain conflict to
occur is because; the Americans claimed that only the American representative is capable of taxing
the people, in which they called it
. The colonies asserted that this act is unlawful leading a mob to be held to threaten the stamp
collectors in attempt to prevent this act from occurring any further. The cost of the tax was little,
but what aggravated the American colonies and created more conflict was the fact that, the British
had an attempt to raise money without the endorsement of the legislatures. Regarding the French
Revolution, the French government divided itself upon three groups, the first (nobles), second
(clergy) and the third state (peasants). Since the French were bankrupt, the first and second

Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers
Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers
One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving
exam and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly
a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car
accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the
world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way,
the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the
privilege of being able to drive at such an early age.
Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a
vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own.
Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI
research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control,
and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this,
teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are
natural risk takers and participate in many other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re
getting their permits and licenses. A 2005 study by the National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development found that,

Case Study Of The Myth Of The Paperless Office
Essay One
In Chapter 2 of The Myth of the Paperless Office, Sellen and Harper discuss two case studies of
paperless office Dan Tech and UK Com.
(a) Describe the lessons learned from these two case studies. (300 500 words)
It is interesting to note that while the initial case study of DanTech was focused on its role as a
paperless office, the lessons learned were derived from how the implementation of change affected
a company. The main lesson learned from this case studyis the importance of recognising that
going paperless was a symbol of change rather than a cause of change . This frame of mind was the
crucial factor for allowing change to come about in a more natural way. Although not every change

Cultural Conflict In America By Hunte Hunter
In the assigned reading, Cultural Conflict in America, the author states that the cultural war in
America is just social issues that Americans disagree on. In some ways I can agree with him, but
our values represent the culture we were raised by. People are going to disagree on many hard
topics and that is what makes the individual person unique. As Hunter states, many of our
cultural disagreements can stem from the religion we practice. He gives us many examples on
this topic, but I did not like how all of them were from thirty or more years ago. I feel that does
not represent the modern America today. America has coined the term melting pot since a long
time ago, but many people are now calling it a salad bowl because the cultures simply do not mix
anymore. I have seen cultural disagreements in my class before, but I also noticed how open to
new views people were. Yes, they had a disagreement about the topic at hand, however using the
term war would make it a bit over dramatized. The students in my class were able to respectfully
debate and discuss their personal views and beliefs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people must make moral decisions on abortion, gay rights, or funding for education, they turn
to their culture and how they were raised. This can, and does, drive a wedge between many
Americans. Hunter mentions that Americans mostly stand on middle ground and do not pick a
distinct side to these moral problems, but everyone must have a slight opinion on these topics.
Many people do not voice their opinion on these matters and often avoid conversation about them.
When people millennials talk about these problems it often sparks debates and arguments.
However, the Gen Z/iGen, born between 1995 2012, are more tolerant of different cultures and
ideas. This generation may help and/or avoid this cultural war that Hunter writes

Essay on Reflective Nursing Case Study
Case Study One
In this case study I will use Gibbs (1988) model of reflection to write a personal account of an
abdominal examination carried out in general practice under the supervision of my mentor, utilising
the skills taught during the module thus far.
What happened
During morning routine sick parade I was presented with a 21 year old male soldier experiencing
severe acute, non specific, abdominal pain. Under the supervision of the medical officer (MO) I
proceeded to carry out a full assessment and abdominal examination, using Byrne and Long s
(1976) model to structure the consultation. I requested the patients consent before conducting the
examination, as is essential before commencement of any medical procedure, be it a ... Show more

Thus allowing me to form a differential diagnosis and rule out certain causes, such as; constipation,
and indigestion. Subsequently, the physical examination enabled me to confirm a diagnosis of acute
abdomen. As the patient was not experiencing any worrying (red flag) symptoms associated with
abdominal emergencies, such as; appendicitis or pancreatitis. However, I did forget certain aspects
of the physical examination and had to be prompted by the MO. Although with more practice such
incidence would be reduced.
Analysis
I was happy that I managed to rule out any distinct causes of the abdominal pain by performing the
examination to collect data, analyse it, and use the results to make an appropriate decision (Schon,
1984). However, had I performed the examination without assistance I may not have gained all the
information required to confirm diagnosis, as I did forget some aspects.
Conclusion
The MO seemed happy with my diagnosis and care plan, though he did highlight the importance of
practicing the physical examination skills in order to become a more competent practitioner.
Overall I feel gaining knowledge and skills in translating a patients history and physical
examination results, has enabled me to become more confident in making a diagnosis and has
improved my decision making skills.
Action Plan
In order to become a more capable and effective practitioner I must continue to

The Idea Of Ladies Being Culturally Better Than Men
The Moso People
The Moso are an ethnic gathering of around 40,000 people living in the highlands in southwestern
China who rehearse matrilineal drop. Their essential exercises are agriculture and angling. They
have their own religion, Ddaba, which is a mixture of nature love, soul love, and genealogical love.
They talk their own dialect, Naru, which has a place with the Yi limb of the Tibeto Burman
subfamily of the Sino Tibetan family .In Moso society, ladies are socially better than men. The
idea of ladies being socially better than men is so engrained in their way of life that they don t
really have words for relatives on the male s side of the family . The household economy is
managed by the head of house, which can be from either gender, and property is collectively owned
by the (matrilineal) household .
They have a fascinating sexual access framework too, called `tisese`, wherein accomplices don t
cohabitate (rather living in their matrilineal family unit) however rather express agree to each
other. That assent is effortlessly given and effectively disavowed, does not influence their social
standing, and is not lawfully tying. Guys visit females for a night in this framework, and come
back to their own particular home the following day. In the event that a tyke is conceived it stays

Negative Essay On Capitalism
he reason this is important to know is because the system of Communism when heavily analyzed
is also at the same time heavily flawed when put to practical use. To an extent, to have there be
no class construct is impossible to pull of when coming from a Capitalistic system. As a
systematic way of life it educates and unearths flaws of a society, such as worker exploitation,
money laundering and bribery. But past that it s impossible to implement in any large society
that is part of the global market such as China. Capitalism heavily favors the self, making
individuals self motivated to do remedial tasks in order to have some form of possession. If you
remove both the individual and the material aspect from the citizens in the society then they have
little to no motivation to do anything without a reward or sign of improvement. Sooner or later
this due to the inherent flaw of humans in a society will cause the same systems that were
exposed to happen all over again. The second main issue of Communism is that when looked at
closely, there is no end, if analyzed closely there is always some sort of Master Student dichotomy
in all societies. Students learn from teachers, children learn from parents, works listen to a
supervisor for coordination, citizens listen to military and the people listen to the active party. No
matter how many times you can reform a state these things will always exist to properly function as
a country. Specifically to China, this is no different, and

Music Reflection Paper
The second concert I attended was a performance by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra at
TAMU s Rudder Theater. The performers were wearing black suits with a white button up shirt for
males and black, full sleeve button up shirts for females. The audience was dominantly senior adults
with a miniscule amount of students. The four pieces that caught my interest are the four
movements from Beethoven s SymphonyNo. 3, OP. 55, Eb Major which is also called Sinfonia
Eroica. The first movement is called Allegro con brio, the second is Marcia funebre: Adagio
assai, the third is Scherzo: Allegro vivace, and the fourth is Finale: Allegro molto. This
symphony is is the first piece that Beethoven creates in his Heroic period when he begins to
write in his own style to express one ideal of heroism taken after Napoleon. The 1st movement,
Allegro con brio, is a fast paced, high dynamic movement in a high pitched major of Eb that is a
perfect theme for a hero. Beethoven s use of this stormy, radical opening was already a new style
of music compared the classical period style of Mozart. Opening his symphony with loud dynamics
at a fast tempois something new that that was not played in the classical period. The two elements
meld together to provide an overwhelming force in the audience, which is exactly what Beethoven
tried to accomplish to show his idea for his hero Napoleon. Beethoven provided the awe in this first
movement from Europeans reaction of awe and terror to the

  • 2. Radish Seeds Lab Report Title: How Does Electromagnetic Radiation Effect the Time it Takes a Radish Seed to Germinate? The independent variable was the microwaved seeds. The dependent variable was the time it takes for the seeds to germinate. Purpose: To observe the effect of electromagnetic radiation on the germination of radish seeds. Background: If you plant a seed, water it, give it sunlight, and good air a plant will grow. Did you know that there is a baby plant inside every seed called an embryo? Seeds are made up of three things, an embryo, the endosperm, and the cotyledon. The embryo in the baby plant, the endosperm acts as a food source for the embryo, and the cotyledon are leaf like structures that support the endosperm. The seed coat acts as a barrier that protects the inside of the seed.( Parts of a Seed and Their Functions. CropsReview.Com. )(1) The protection the seed coat provides varies in all seeds. Some seeds may need hard seed coats to survive while other seeds only need a soft, fragile one. Due to the theory of evolution seed coats have been able to adapt to their environments in order to survive. For example plants in the desert would need a tough seed coat to protect against premature germination and extreme dryness. (DesertUSA. Desert Seeds. Desert Seeds DesertUSA.)(2) Seeds in the forest would also need a very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Why Was Persepolis Important To The Persians The establishment of the magnificent city of Persepolis was of great importance to Persia from 500 BCE to 330 BCE. This city, built by Darius was so important to the Persians because it was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid empire, a sacred and symbolic region for the Persians and also because it was dedicated to hold official audiences. Through an exploration of both primary and secondary sources, the reason behind why the establishment of Persepolis is of such importance to the Persians gas becomes much clearer. Darius the great beginning construction in 518 BCE established Persepolis, the capital of ancient Persia. The reasons to its establishment is still consider a mystery but what we do know is that it was very important during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ruled by darius and then xerxes it was considered the ceremonial capital of Persia. The establishment of this capital further aided the Persians in ceremonies, trade and most importantly gained respect of other countries in battle. Persepolis was the example of par excellence of the dynasty. The first reason, which highlighted the importance, was the ceremonies. Celebrations varied in sizes and all had different reasons. The most important ceremony that was celebrated is the event Nowruz . Nowruz meaning new day, was the name of the Iranian New Year. This ceremony created a majestic atmosphere for the Persians. This event celebrated the first day of spring or Equinox at the beginning of the year in the Persian calendar. Nowruz is about the only tradition to not resolve around a religious group. The establishment of Persepolis gave the Persians the opportunity to celebrate as a whole. The second reason that highlighted the importance of the establishment of Persepolis was the trade. The Achaemenid Empire was rich and luxurious. An example of trade in Persepolis included darius revolutionising it by placing it on a silver and gold coinage system and the popular trade items included orange, Shaw and turquoise. By establishing Persepolis it enhanced trade in the Achaemenid Empire. The final reason that highlights the importance of the establishment of Persepolis was their success in battle. Darius and xerxes were highly successful in battle and there are still structures that depict the sister countries giving the kings gifts. Some of these included lions from the elamites, brahma bull from the Babylonians and even cloth from the Lydian bolts. Alexander involved Persepolis as a whole in the battle of the Persian gate, which they weren t successful in which led to its destruction. Even due to this fact the establishment of Persepolis was highly important to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Hero s Journey With Female Characters Within Epic... Meela has been isolated her entire life, destined to one day inherit the role of the Thaumaturge. When the barrier protecting the Island she lives on is destroyed, taking most of the remaining fuel source with it, Meela sees her chance to escape. She must journey with her older sister, Saleem, to the other side of the world in order to find their brother who has been working on a solution. For my dissertation, I will be writing a young adult epic fantasynovel in order to explore whether or not there is a change in expectations to the heros journey if the hero is female rather than male. Within this, I will be investigating what it means to be a strong female character, whether a romantic partner for the hero is needed for a successful journey, and the expectations of female characters within epic fantasy and young adult literature, including society s expectations and portrayal of women in the media. In order to write about the hero s journey, I must first research what the journey usually entails in order to understand what a hero is often faced with and whether or not gender of the hero will affect the journey they must complete. Fantasy often borrows the theme of quest in order to explore ideas around power (Kilian, 2007) which is always at the heart of the hero s journey. Joseph Campbell outlined the hero s journey, referring to the hero throughout as a he . Within his description, he implies that the only role a female character can take within the hero s ... This poll comes after the attacks in Jakarta, Paris, and San Bernardino. Terrorism has ties all the way back to the 11th century with Al Hashshashin. A terrorist organization must fall into two categories in order to be considered a transnational terrorist group: involves groups or individuals whose terrorist activities cross international borders and targeted countries that are not represented in the make up of the group (Casserleigh, PP 4). Who is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time? Tiger Woods right? Well guess what, the greatest golfer of all time has a coach! Federal Funding For Public Broadcasting The purpose of this paper is to explore the pros and cons of the proposal to eliminate federal funding to The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). In doing so, first we will explore several facets of this issue including first the cost of funding from both a governmental and taxpayer perspective. Secondly, understanding the services provided and the audience served is integral in this discussion. Lastly, we will consider government s role in media and education. The conversation, however, must start with the history, values, and goals of this organization. Another childhood favorite, Sesame Street, which first aired in 1969, and All Things Considered which premiered in 1971. It was the year 1969 when the Senate Subcommittee on Communications first began discussing cutting funds to CPB that Mr. Rogers made his plea against the proposal (Corporation for Public Broadcasting). Almost 50 years later, this same issue is again on the table. One must wonder how detrimental cutting funds would impact the educational programming to which Mr. Rogers was so undeniably committed. • 13. The Importance Of Marine Currentss Marine currents are masses of salt water, which distribute differently from adjacent masses. They may be superficial, usually warmer and deeper, which are cooler. In general, they are generated by a difference in temperature, winds and salinity (Kampel, 1998). In Polar Regions, these currents lose heat to the atmosphere, generating large masses of polar air, or the cold fronts , becoming extremely cold and dense. When the ocean freezes, the salt is adhered to the denser and cooler mass of water, and this new pool migrates to the bottom carrying nutrients and carbon dioxide. The water that is immediately below rises, and begins a cycle, which generates the main route of transportation and redistribution of global energy, which takes a thousand years to go around the globe. This process is crucial for the terrestrial climate system, as well as for nutrient loading (resurgence phenomena) and CO2 balance. • 18. A Different Perspective On Foreign Affairs Tony Abbott, John Howard and Kevin Rudd each have a different perspective on foreign affairs, but there is also a common thread to their approach. In the following paper I compare and contrast a speech made by each of them concerning foreign affairs and note the large similarity of ideology between each of them. All speeches support a strong relationship with the United Statesof America and active engagement in international affairs. I argue that they differ only in the nuance of emphasis although there is some evidence of traditional realist and liberal approaches to international politics. Howard concentrates on pragmatic state to state engagement for the benefit of Australians. Abbott focuses more on building up the military and physical security. Rudd is the only one of the three to emphasise that Australias foreign engagement should be for the benefit of others, as well as Australia. Overall, however, the speeches demonstrate a greater commonality of purpose and direction than they do divergent opinions. I argue the resulting stability of foreign policyengagement benefits not only Australia, but the rest of the world. The first speech of the three was given by John Howard. This is certainly a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way, the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the privilege of being able to drive at such an early age. Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own. Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control, and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this, teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car.
