Empire Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Empire" can be quite challenging due to the vast scope and
complexity of the subject matter. The concept of empire encompasses a wide range of historical,
political, social, and cultural dynamics, making it difficult to condense into a single cohesive
piece.
Firstly, researching the topic requires delving into numerous historical events, empires, and their
impacts on different regions and peoples. Understanding the rise and fall of various empires
throughout history, analyzing their structures of governance, economic systems, and cultural
influences, demands comprehensive study and analysis.
Furthermore, addressing the ethical and moral implications of imperialism and colonialism adds
another layer of complexity to the essay. Exploring themes of power, exploitation, resistance,
and cultural assimilation requires a nuanced understanding of diverse perspectives and historical
contexts.
Crafting a coherent and insightful argument on such a multifaceted topic necessitates critical
thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize information from various sources.
Organizing the essay in a logical manner while effectively incorporating evidence and scholarly
opinions poses a significant challenge.
Moreover, navigating the sensitive nature of the topic and presenting balanced viewpoints
without overlooking the injustices and complexities inherent in imperial histories requires a
thoughtful approach to writing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Empire" demands extensive research, critical
analysis, and careful consideration of diverse perspectives. It is a challenging task that requires a
deep understanding of historical, political, and cultural dynamics. However, with dedication and
effort, it is possible to create a compelling and thought-provoking piece on this complex subject.

William Shakespeare s Oedipus Tyrannus
Oedipus Tyrannus is a play written by Sophocles, and it deals with the interactions
between divine justice/fate and human control in the events that take place for
Oedipus. He is the son of King Laius and Queen Jocasta but he was given away as
an infant due to news of a horrid oracle that would destroy the kingdom and his
parents. Apollo s oracle shows that Oedipuss destiny and life as a whole was already
predetermined before he was born and that Oedipus has no choice that would
affect those events. However the entire play is about the choices Oedipus is
making, the investigation that brings him down is his own and the curse under
which he falls is the one he utters from his own mouth. Oedipus goes from a
prideful, arrogant and heroic king to a condemned humble man due to his tragic
fate at the end of the play. Oedipus may not be happy towards the end of the play as
opposed to the beginning but he reaches a point in which he is content. Oedipus is
less free at the beginning of the play as compared to the end because he is tied
down by the miasma and hubris that surround him after he killed his father. In the
end of the play Oedipus finally has full knowledge of who he is, and he blinds
himself in a rage of penitence, accepting total responsibility, by saying his actions as
well as the god s fate are responsible for what he did, and he is determined to take
the punishment of exile as well.
Oedipus s character has changed drastically from the beginning of the play to the end.
Mutli-Agent Based Modeling
Multi Agent System/Agent Based Modeling
Multi agent systems are among the methods used for modeling and simulating
Natural Disaster emergencies. The terminology of Agent Based System tends to be
used more often in the sciences and Multi Agent System in engineering and
technology. The Agent Based System is gradually replacing the micro simulation
techniques and object oriented simulation. Agent Based System has ability to capture
different dynamic models which usually consist of simple entities or more complex
entities. We have proposed a specific agent based methodological framework
allowing, from modeling to simulation, the production of observables at different
levels of details related to a Natural Disaster organization.
A Multi Agent System can model the behavior of a set of entities. Agents have a
degree of autonomy and are immersed in an environment in which and with which
they interact. Modelers can use Multi Agent System to create computer
representations of dynamic events such as Natural Disaster emergency. Therefore, the
application of Multi Agent System in this area could help managers to experiment all
possible scenarios of a disaster and assist them in making decisions.
A multi agent based system is a powerful modeling technique for simulating
individual interactions in a dynamic system and is distinctive in its ability to simulate
situations with unpredictable behavior
Earlier researches have focused on modeling of the rescue during Natural Disasters,

The Influence Of The Potsdam Conference
The Potsdam Conference was held at Cecilienhof, the home of Crown Prince
Wilhelm Hohenzollern, in Potsdam, occupied Germany, from 17 July to 2 August
1945. The goals of the conference also included the establishment of post war order,
peace treaty issues, and countering the effects of the war. In the five months since the
Yalta Conference, a number of changes had taken place which would greatly affect
the relationships between the leaders. The Soviet Unionwas occupying Central and
Eastern Europe and Stalin claimed that it was a legitimate sphere of Soviet influence.
Roosevelt had dismissed warnings of a potential domination by a Stalin dictatorship
in Europe, however, his successor Harry S. Truman became increasingly suspicious of
Soviet intentions under Stalin. The Potsdam Conference marks the first and only
time Truman would ever meet Stalin in person.
At the end of the conference it was decided that both Germany and Austria would be
divided into four zones and that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the controversial decisions to be reached at Potsdam were those
pertaining to Poland. As part of the Potsdam talks, the US and Britain agreed to
recognize the Soviet backed Provisional Government of National Unity rather than
the Polish government in exile which had been based in London since 1939. In
addition, Truman reluctantly agreed to accede to Soviet demands that Poland s
new western border lay along the Oder Neisse Line. The use of these rivers to
denote the new border saw Germany lose nearly a quarter of its pre war territory
with most going to Poland and a large part of East Prussia to the Soviets. Though
Bevin argued against the Oder Neisse Line, Truman effectively traded this territory to
gain concessions on the reparations issue. The transfer of this territory led to the
displacement of large numbers of ethnic Germans and remained controversial for

A Historical View of Egyptian s Mathematics System
In historic times; math was well known for helping Egyptian people keep track of
their property, money, taxes, livestock, land and sometimes people. Math did indeed
help the Egyptian community and their king by building pyramids, tombs, art crafts,
and using math to solve the flood on Nile Valley. Egyptwas striving for a new era to
come along with their mathematical achievement.
As history has it, Egypt was the land of lands and great art with their high pyramids.
During the year 3000 BC when two nations decides to come in one nation so that the
nation of Egypt can be under one king. Since Egypt has become under one nation; the

As Egypt grows into a great land of arts and crafts so did their knowledge of math
grew as they find ways to count, solve problems, and every day use of math. Ever
since then Egyptians quickly develop their own use of math skills and numbers to
use. Meanwhile Egypt already has their own writing system, they quickly convert into
the numeral system which is called Egyptian Numerals (OО„Connor and Robertson,
2000). Egyptians were very careful because mathematics required them to deal the
form of fractions. In ancient Egypt mathematics was used for measuring time,
straight lines, the level of the Nile floodings, calculating areas of land, counting
money, working out taxes and cooking. Math was even used in mythology the
Egyptians figured out the numbers of days in the year with their calendar
(Seawright, 2013). It is true that Nile Valley flooded yearly. As Stevenson, 2000
wrote Nile is the longest river and flows from three branches: The Blue Nile, the
White Nile and the Atbara. They join far south of Egypt to become a single river a
mile wide (Stevenson, 2000). The Egypt king want to learn when the flood will
start, therefore; he order to find someone who works with geography and use their
knowledge of math to help solve or get close to when the Nile river will flood. The
king hopes that if he could get close to the dates and time of the

Best Man Wedding Speech
Its turning out to be a day packed full new experiences for me. It s the first time I
ve had the honour of being a best man, It s the first time that Brandon has
complimented me in over 30 years, and it s the first time I ve got a free dinner out
of him since that kebab he bought me back in 93. So far things have been going
pretty well...until now. Start the car Steve.
Ladies, Gentlemen, boys, girls Brandon and Lisa,
First of all, let me begin on behalf of the bridesmaids, Michelle, Ellie, Hannah and

absolutely wonderful and have done an excellent job today.

I don t remember meeting Brandon for the first time, he just kind of appeared many,
many years ago before I was old enough to have a memory. However, that may well
be a good thing, because some of those early memories are quiet disturbing.
During the mid to late seventies Brandon was quiet convinced that he was 70 s
motorcycle pin up Erik Estrada from Chips.
(At this point I held up a picture of this guy and compared it with a picture of 7 year
old Brandon to emphasise how dissimilar they looked)
He also thought that Cola Cubes made him bionic! A tip that you might like to pick
up on there Lisa!
Its testimony to Lisa Brandons relationship that he s now over Erik, and Brandons
smile has now returned following that fateful afternoon back in 1980 when, out of
his mind on a quarter of cola cubes he attempted his first and last ever non handed
bicycle jump.
I think I can sum up the moment by combining the words, crown jewels and
crossbars. In fact it s a miracle of medicine that Brandon did not just deliver his
speech to you today in the style of Joe Pescuali.
As Brandon progressed to becoming a teenager he found that if he took his cola
cubes in liquid form and added a decent shot of Vodka, he became even more bionic!
Of course some of us know different.
Yes we know that it made him talk rubbish like the best of us can, but the funniest
thing was that it made him dance like he was actually trying to take his trousers off. At

Marriage
CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION Marriage is one of the deepest and most complex involvements
of human relationships. It is a corner stone of society and a very necessary part of
the social system. It is a crucial and sacred bond between two personalities merging
into one for ideas, attitudes, habits and likes and dislikes. In Philippines marriage is
considered a lifelong partnership. It is the foundation stone on which the family is
built. Basically marriage is a social and legal contract. People marry great number
of reasons personal or social. Usually they have a certain preconceived notions about
the kind of person they would like to marry. The large percentage of separation each

It plays an important role in transmitting culture and civilization to future
generations. Nowadays, family is becoming just an individualistic conjugal family,
not even aware of its roots. From times immemorial, Filipinos have tried to idealize
and sanctify the institution of marriage as no other civil society has done so far
(Diwan 2005). The concept of marriage a sort of man woman relationship as a
responsible one to one unit of society evolved a unique human family system. Its
essential components were intercourse, procreation of children and living together
with mutual obligations and responsibilities to the care of offspring. The traditional
Filipino family was an institution, a joint family system, characterized by
homogeneous togetherness of parents, grandparents, sons and daughters, their
spouses, even uncles and aunts. Marriage is not merely a private contract, but a
social institution of great public value and concern. Since the 1940s and 1950s, the
composition of families has changed, with marriage rates declining substantially.
Cherlin (2004) discusses the deinstitutionalization of marriage. Society has become
more accepting of different forms of marriage and alternatives to marriage. As
social science research and government surveys increasingly show, the decline in
marriage since the 1960s has been accompanied by a rise in a number of serious
social problems. Since the 1960s, marriage has moved from being a companionate

The largest market segment of the past five years was middle aged males. As these
consumers age, the industry will find it harder to sell more motorcycles to them.
MARKET TRENDS:
Business Trends:
Favorable Demographics most motorcycle buyers are between the age of 35 and 64,
a demographic forecast to grow about 17 percent between 2006 and 2015 in the US.
The industry is also attracting younger buyers. Motorcycle ownership among
Generation Y grew by more than 23 percent between 2008 and 2012, according to the
Motorcycle Industry Council.
More Female Riders Motorcycle manufacturers are targeting female riders. Female
ownership is growing faster than male ownership. Manufacturers are building units
with lower seats, lighter weight, and lower tension clutches to attract female riders.
More than 10 percent of US motorcyclists are women. Additional revenues are
generated from accessories, clothing, and riding gear.
Volatile Gas Prices Higher gas prices can have both a favorable and unfavorable
impact on motorcycle sales. Motorcycles are a much more economical form of
transportation than most cars and trucks. However, higher gas prices reduce
disposable personal income available for purchases. Most motorcycles in the US are
used for recreation rather than for day to day transportation.

Questions On Database Management System
1.Interpreting language:
Since the file processing system can be built on any of the programming languages,
this will be a tedious task for other language developers to understand the actual logic
behind the data storage and build a new requirement. But Database Management
System (DBMS) uses a Structured Query Language (SQL) which will be used
universally to insert, update or delete the data by all the developers and this will act
as a common language for all the developers/ end users to work with the data.
2.Data redundancy and inconsistency.
In file processing system, many files are generated or created using different
programming languages by different developers in one particular project.
For example, let us consider the example of a Software project which consists of
various teams/ developer teams.
a.Duplicate data:
In our software project example, if we have a particular person working on two
technologies namely .NET developer and as an Automation test developer, then the
same person information (namely employee id, email id, phone number) will be
stored in both the files(namely .NET team file and the Automation test developer file)
In DBMS, by using the normalization concepts on tables, we design the database in
such a way that the data is not duplicated.
b.Data Redundancy leads to higher storage and access cost.
As the same employee s data is stored in two different files, this leads to unnecessary
usage of disk space for the same employee data which will
The Importance Of Communication And Effective...
Success in any environment is built around efficient and effective communication.
Successful communication requires clear, concise and correct information being
delivered in a form which cannot be misinterpreted or misunderstood. Through
communication, we attempt to convey thoughts and objectives to others, with the
intention of achieving successful performance.
Communications can only be successfully understood when both sender and receiver
comprehend the same information and in current times with industries technology
progressively developing and at a fast pace it has become increasingly important for
individuals to have good communicational skills.
For section 1 of the module I will be identifying and explaining the relevance of the
effective communication in management, this will be achieved by analyzing the
relevance of the communication cycle by understanding the key importance of using
both the 5 C s of communication and selecting the correct tone, language and level of
formality for management communications. This process will be assessed in both
verbal and written communication methods.
For the second section of the module I will reflect and develop effective
communications skills. I will develop criteria and create a questionnaire to evaluate
my own abilities in verbal and written communications. Using the feedback received
from my colleagues I will identify strengths and areas which require improvement.
Section 1 Understand the importance of effective
How Did The Economy Affect The Mexican Economy
Decades later, another series of events led to a new wave of feminists. In the 1970 s,
Mexico became one of the world s largest oil suppliers to the world market.
International bankers made loans to Mexico, who promptly accepted them, but
sooner than later the interest rates and debt rose to an uncontrollable point. Intending
to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration spent vast amounts
of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and
manufacturing. However, the country s debt rose due to the US and other countries
taking advantage of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and
with it, the Mexican economy. In addition, an earthquake in 1985 killed almost...

Since husbands were away, the mothers became the heads of the family. Despite
earning less than their male counterparts, women tended to invest their money in the
needs of the household, rather than spending money for their own use. Without the
male presence in the home, the families tended to be smaller, and the family income
was distributed to fewer members. Therefore their family per capita was greater than
when the men were in charge. The economic crisis of the 1980 s caused great harm to
the Mexican economy, but had lasting beneficiary effects on genderequality.
Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering
countries to find better work, the women were forced to join the workforce.
Families assimilated to the lack of presence of women at home, generating creative
strategies to continue on. 70% of households bought less food, clothing, shoes, etc.
and spent less on transportation and food than prior to the economic crisis. There
was a dramatic increase of women aged twenty to twenty four in the workforce,
rising by ten percent since prior to the crisis. However, some social customs still
remained. While the men still in charge of families were able to eat the more
expensive foods such as meat and eggs, female heads of the family ate less hearty,
unhealthy food, which mainly consisted of beans, tortillas, fruits and
Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay
Giuseppe Garibaldi
The Sword of Italian Unification
My goal, which was, I believe, shared by most italians at that time, was to unite the
country and rid it of foreign powers. Those who gave Italy her freedom would earn
her people s gratitude (Garibaldi, page 6). During the age of Italian unification, there
were three men who fought for her (Italy s) freedom. Those men were Cavour the
brains, Mazzini the soul, and Garibaldi the sword (Chastain).
Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice in 1807 (Garibaldi, page 173). He spent his
life working towards not only Italian unification, but that of France and South
America. He is considered by many to be the Hero of two worlds (Chastain). He

Most of his account of twenty years of battle is more epic in nature, and includes
many negative interactions with authority figures. In all of his autobiography, he
clearly mentions his personal values at the beginning of his period of exile from
Italy, and he does so with powerful language: It is difficult to find perfection among
humankind: let us try to be good; let us teach the masses, as far as we can, the
principles of justice and truth;; let us fight theocracy and tyranny, the
embodiments of lies and evil, whatever form they take but let us show compassion
toward our own cruel human race, which among its other merits has the ability to
generate on half of itself made up of emperors, kings, policemen and priests, who
appear to be born with all the attributes of torturers for the glory and the good of the
rest of us (Garibaldi, page 48). From this quote we can clearly see that freedom,
truth, and justice was the primary values of Garibaldi. This values are , in turn,
aligned very closely with his organizational commitments and actions. From his
book, it can inferred that he is always concerned for the safety and well being of
his troops. From his oversight into obtaining a proper burial of comrade in arms,
Anazini, to the constant references to the need to obtain proper clothing and food
for his troops. Giuseppe displays a great hatred for his superiors when they do not
deliver on their promise of clothing
Lead Poisoning Research Paper
Heavy metal poisoning is nothing new. It has been known for centuries that some
heavy metal compounds are quite toxic to people. A particularly infamous and
widely known heavy metal is lead. Lead has been a particular useful element in
early human history. It saw many uses from making jewelry to the height of its use
in the ancient world as Roman plumbing. Most people would shudder at the
thought of drinking water from lead pipes with all the hysteria associated with
lead; however, lead pipes or more commonly lead solder are still around today
though mainly in outdated water lines that have been grandfathered. Oddly enough,
the Romans were actually aware of the toxic properties of lead. Lead workers were
even described as being notoriously... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It rather is becoming a problem due to pollution. A recent and highly publicized lead
poisoning case was that of Flint, Michigan s water supply. Lead poisoning in the U.S.
is generally caused by contaminated water. Lead in the public water supply is
generally due to absorption from lead pipes or solder. Absorption of lead into water
has been found proportional to the temperature of the water. Unsurprisingly, the
warmer the water, the higher the lead concentration; however, the change in lead
concentration compared to the temperature shift is quite surprising. Ж Between 10
and 23 degrees Celsius, it has been shown that a 1 degree shift in temperature can
change the dissolved lead concentration by 5 percent. О” Another factor which
impacts the amount of dissolved lead in tap water is water
The Role Of Occupational Roles Determine Correct
Behavior...
Attaining Expertise
One of the most beneficial solutions to life problems solving is new experiences
and skills. There are rules that people are expected to follow. Rules are the
conventions of everyday life that make our interactions with other people predictable
and orderly. Some rules matter of the law. Occupational roles determine correct
behavior for a manager and an employee, a professor and student. Attaining expertise
come with experience and training. Change is relatively easy it is an entrenched
habit of thinking or behavior takes considerable time and effort. One has to change
themselves, but also their relationships with others who may be rewarding the or old
ways if they want the problems to be solve. Learning new skills improves one s
working memory, better verbal intelligence and above all increases dialectal skills. In
the end, the more expert you become, the less work the brain has to do. Over time,
acquired skills become automatic, and one does not have to think about what they
are doing. The fact that our behavior is to a large extent predetermined by our
connection with other people should not induce us to lose sight of the most private
and unique facets of our personalities. It is, of course easy for us to slip into the
idea that our meanings are obviously better that those developed by other cultures.
Because they are so thoroughly a part of ourselves, they seem right and proper just as
some of the behavior that seems peculiar,
The Mentality Of Cliques In The Marine Corps
Merriam Webster defines cliques as, A narrow exclusive circle or group of persons
(n.d.). A clique that I was part of while in the Marine Corps was my unit. We were a
small group of individuals who had our focus placed on radio communications, and
were in a shop away from the majority of other units. Part of the mentality of the unit
stemmed from the definition of a clique, because we spent a large majority of our time
together. My unit only included those within the unit when it came to physical
training, regular work tasks, going into the field for training, and activities outside of
work meant to build trust amongst those in the unit.
Overall, the purpose that the clique had, did not always accomplish the overall

The Band Of The Beatles
Even over 40 years after their breakup, it is almost impossible not to know who
The Beatles are. This band of the mid twentieth century set a high bar for all other
musical groups at the time they were active and even still today. Causing swarms
of fans of all ages to scream and faint everywhere they went, they were the world s
most popular musicians. Although their name is well known, not enough people
know how the band that inspired millions came to be. The story of how two kids
playing music became four men traveling the world and performing for thousands of
adoring fans at a time gives dreamers hope. Today s generation cannot let tomorrow s
generation forget that dreams do come true if they try hard to make them happen and
never give up, just as The Beatlesnever did. As unbelievable as it might be, there are
some people who think that this shockingly powerful band were not as famous as
they were made out to be. Even with nearly every song being a chart topper, these
people believe that there are bands that have accomplished more than The Beatles.
It is true that some have come close, but it is easy to see that The Beatles were
absolutely the most successful band of all time. The Beatles easily influenced the
way people dressed, listened to music, and views of the world (Brundrett para. 4).
The band s first song to be released in the United States by Capitol Records, I Want to
Hold Your Hand, hit the public in January 1964 and immediately shot up the charts

The Life of Steve Jobs
On October 5, 2011, a famous personality Steve Jobs left his technology. He was a
technologist, businessman and a scientist. He passed away due to his Metastatic
Insulinoma cancer. Jobs worked and co founded Apple Incorporation. He was fond of
working as Apple CEO. Jobs kept his position as a CEO and worked till the last day
to keep his company motivated: I have always said if there ever came a day when I
could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple s CEO, I would be the
first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. ( Steve Jobs).
Jobs was born in San Francisco, California on February 24, 1955, to his father,
Abdul Fattah and mother Joanne Carole. His biological parents family objected to
his birth, so later he was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. Since his childhood, Jobs
was interested in electronics and technologies because his father worked as a
mechanic. He kept Jobs busy rebuilding electronics. Later, Jobs and his family
moved to Mountain View, California to attend school. He attended Homestead High
School in Cupertino, California. Steve Jobs was never interested in studies and
dropped out from the school ( Steve Jobs ).
People still miss Job because he was a visionary. He had the vision to see new
technology. He changed the technologies of the world. He came up with a new

In 1678, Anne Bradstreet wrote To the Memory of My Dear and Ever Honored
Father Thomas Dudley Esq. Who Deceased, July 31, 1653 and of His Age 77 ,
following her father s death. Throughout the poem, Anne gives her readers a brief
summary of her father and the relationship they shared. It it very apparent that
Bradstreet loved her father dearly and thought very highly of him. However, this was
not the only father she shared a relationship with. Anne also had a lifetime
relationship with her heavenly Father as well. Bradstreet was a devout woman of the
Puritan religion. Puritanism was not only Anne s religion, but it also served as the
foundation on which she would live upon. Anne Bradstreetreconciles with the death

A great Puritan by the name of Thomas Watson once spoke the words,
blessedness...does not lie in the acquisition of worldly things. I suspect Bradstreet
would have loved that quote, seeing that she too, believed that happiness did not
lie in possessions. Anne Bradstreet states, Upon the earth he did not build his nest,
/ But as a pilgrim, what he had possessed (33 34). Just with those two lines, one can
already catch a glimpse of what kind of man Thomas Dudley was. Bradstreet is
saying that her father knew this was just his temporary home. Thomas Dudley
knew that this was not his forever home, just a stopping point along the way.
Bradstreet goes on to say, His thoughts were more sublime, his actions wise, / Such
vanities, he justly did despise (47 48). In these lines, Bradstreet shows how her
father despises vanities, just as she did. Anne greatly infers that Thomas Dudley was
not a materialistic man, instead, he was a very humble man. He was less concerned
with the vanities of life, and more concerned with what God wanted for his

recruitment, management, and giving direction to the people who work in the
organization. Human resource management is a vital component, which deals with
issues concerned with people. Such issues include, hiring, performance management,
developmental issues, safety, staff welfare, benefits and staff motivation. An
organization cannot create a group of professional working staff without better
human resources(Stewart, Brown, 2012, 65). The human resource managementhas a
wide variety of functions in an organization. The first function is to recruit and train
new staff members. An organization needs to update its staff members after a series
of time to enhance better performance. The human resource management department
owns the responsibility of coming up with strategies and plans on how to recruit new
staff members. They identify the best criteria to be used during recruitmentand design
questions to be used during interviews. Human resource management department sets
up the responsibilities for individuals to be recruited. Basing on the facts, the
contract is also prepared for the newly recruited staff member (Stewart, Brown, 2012,
101). Aruba Marriott Resort Stellaris Casino is one of the largest hotels in the world.
The only reason behind Aruba Marriott Resort Stellaris Casino s success is the

Literary Critics In Harold Bloom s The Metamorphosis
The literary realm consists of countless remarkable novels; however, there are a
selection of works that are deemed canonical, or worthy of literary merit. Often, the
definition of a work that belongs in the canon or qualifies as literary merit is
ambiguous due to numerous discrepancies; nevertheless, Harold Bloom has deemed
hundreds of works canonical in his criticism, Elegy of the Canon. In his work,
Bloom claims that to be admitted to the canon, a work must achieve: aesthetic,
timelessness, and innovation. Nabokov s Good Readers, Good Writers, follows a
similar set of rules to define the superiority of canonical works as having three points
of view : a storyteller, a teacher, and an enchanter. The parallel between both
criticisms revolves around the sophistication within the structure of the works.
A canonical novel is not superior due to its plot or relevance, but rather the finesse
of its writing, which is left for the reader to discover. When reading a canonical work,
one must read it properly to understand its quality. Nabokov and Bloom concur that to
respect the author, one must read without previous bias. If a work contains both
aspects, that work may constitute a piece worthy of literary merit. The Metamorphosis
by Franz Kafka exemplifies a short story worth of such literary merit as it qualifies
the criteria with its structural aspects: unexpected sentence endings, unique point of
view, everlasting messages, and artistic style. These aspects assist in

Comparing the Emplementation and Scrutinizing of Proposed Bills in the House of
Commons and Congress
This essay will examine how two institutions, namely the House of Commons and
Congress, which are supposed to serve the same process, differ widely in the way
they implement and scrutinise proposed bills. The essay will examine the
relationship between the legislature and the executive; the importance of the party;
and the constitutional arrangements which give each legislature very different
characteristics.
The French philosopher Montesquieu said that there could be no democracy unless
the three branches of government, legislature, judiciary and executive, were separate
bodies, which acted as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A $1.7 trillion annual budget and congressional decentralization through the
committee system allows lawmakers to specialize and make decisions on a wide
range of complex topics. This is very different to the House of Commons (HoC),
which has a much smaller budget and a less rigorous committee system. The rigorous
nature of the Congressional committee system (CCS) could be seen as advantageous
since it allows detailed legislation on potentially complex topics to be written.
However, the composition of the committee may not be unbiased, and once the
legislation has been drafted it must be ratified by the rest of Congress.
Since the CCS is so important to the USlegislative process the membership of the
committees requires careful consideration. The composition, range of interests, and
the scope of their policies are determined by the members. If a committee were full of
like minded people that were not socially representative of the people the policies
concern, then it is feasible for the democratic process to be undermined. Furthermore,
the quality of the resulting bill is highly dependent on the ability of the committee
members. To counter these potentially negative influences the bill must be ratified by
Congress once it leaves the Committee phase.
With 535 members of Congress it can be very
Example Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous The name of the meeting was Grove City Wave Three
Group, and it was located at the United Methodist Church on 2710 Columbus
Street in Grove City. The meeting took place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held
almost every Sunday. The reason I had choose this location for the meeting was
because it was near my home. When I first entered the room I was expecting the
stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a circle of chairs
in a room with no tables. But once I entered the room, there were plenty of seats
and it did not appear to be dark and gloomy. The room was located in the basement
of the church, and had the seats set were the participants are able to see one
another. I was anxious of how other members would react to my presence,
considering I was in a church. I was greeted when I entered the room. My anxiety
slowly went away, when I realized that these are people really dealing with a
difficult issue in their lives. It reminded me of how vulnerable it can be to be
around others and admit to a weakness within you, to get better. It takes a lot of
courage to go to a meeting, and want to change. The members of the meeting varied
in all ages and ethnicities. There were young people as well as older people. When I
was in the meeting I was asked to introduce myself. I explained that I was a student
and was interested in learning. The participants were very understanding and did not
mind at all. But it felt very awkward for me, because I did not want to impose. One
participant explained to me that there have been other students that have attended
meetings in the past. There was also another new member that came to the meeting as
well. He introduced himself, and explained his reason for coming. The others
members commended him for coming and congratulated him for attending and
trying. The meeting was not anonymous because the members had identified their
first names. The meeting did not have any one leader, but everyone in the meeting
participated. There were a few participants that had roles such as secretary, and other
positions. The meeting began with an introduction, reading pledges. The focus of the
meeting was centered on reading the book Twelve Steps and Twelve
Government Drones
The thought of government drones buzzing overhead and constantly monitoring the
activities of law abiding citizens runs contrary to the notion of what it means to live
in a free society says senator Charles Grassley on a topic that is in very high
controversy (Quattlebaum1).Having the sanctity of our own privacyin households and
backyards is an entitlement that we all are gifted with, but many people are having
that privacy tarnished with a new creation sweeping the country Drones. Domestic
use of drones is raising concerns about privacy and fourth amendment violations in
many states and cities. Privacy is only one of the concerns of these drones. Many
drones are found crashing into buildings and trees and are considered a huge safety

people are wondering if overhead drones controlled by a police officer or even a

definitely not the only concerned citizen on the issue. The drones can be the size of

The Life of Nicholas Tesla
Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Tesla) was not only an inventor; he was an engineer,
physicist, visionary, and most known for, brilliant. Tesla was born July 10th 1856,
in Smilijan, Austrian Empire, which is now modern day Croatia and moved to the
United States in 1884 to continue his career in engineering. Tesla s parents were
both Serbian, his father was an Orthodox priest, writer and poet, while his mother
was a creative and had the talent to construct things, especially her electronic every
day household items. His father wanted him to become a priest but Tesla followed
the mind set and footsteps of his mother and went above and beyond with his skills
and knowledge. Like normal high school students, Tesla studied mathematics and
physics at the University of Prague. What made Tesla stand out from other students
was his incredible mind and memory. He supposedly had an eidetic memory
(photographic memory), where he would have the ability to recall problems and
text with ease, like reading a book and replaying a scene through the mind. Not only
was his memory extraordinary, he contained the ability to perform calculus
integration in his head, as well as learning eight different languages. Tesla s brain
contained abilities out of this world that modern day technology cannot replicate.
The ideas and creations visualized in his head, stayed in his head; he formed its
mechanics and mathematical specifications without the use of a pencil and paper.

The Laffer Curve And Its Effect On The People
Introduction
The point Arthur Laffer made when he brought up what later became the Laffer
curve was that government implementations have both short and long term impacts
on the people, and that those impacts are directly dependent on incentives: positive
or negative. In their most primal forms, positive incentives would be subsidies and
negative incentives would be taxes. The Laffer curve, although very hard to
accurately estimate, is very powerful in its shape. The understanding of its shape is
crucial for policymakers, but also a headache as its parameters are extremely difficult
to comprehend and model properly.
A background on Arther Laffer will be provided before getting into the Laffer curve
in more detail. Finally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dr. Arthur Betz Laffer is an American economist who gained prominence during the
Reagan administration for his theory on how tax rates affect the total revenues
collected by the government. In the above quote, Dr. Arthur Lafferexplains that
increase in government revenue is not the true measure of a growing economy. A
prosperous economy is one in which people have more income, more growth and
more employment opportunities.
Dr. Arthur Laffer was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 14, 1940 to Amelia and
William Gillespie. Both of his parents had an educational background in economics
and this motivated him to pursue a career in it. Before going to Yale University to
earn a B.A. in Economics, Dr. Laffer went to University of Munich and was
majoring in Mathematics, but later he changed his major to economics. In order to
further satiate his interest, he did his MBA and got a full scholarship to do his PhD
in economics at the Economics school of Stanford University.
In 1967, he accepted the offer from the University of Chicago to join as a faculty
member. Dr. Laffer was eager to work alongside Robert Mundell, who was already
part of the school s faculty and was one of the earliest supply side thinkers in the
realm of economics.

How Diamonds Are Affected By The Rock Cycle
The rock cycle has the effect of many different things that we hold so dear in our
society today. Both oil and diamond are very much impacted by the rock cycle.
Both are affected by where we can find them, also how they are made. I believe
that because of the rock cycle we have both oil, and diamond without the rock
cycle we would not have oil or diamond. Diamond is affected by the rock cycle in
many different ways. One way is that without the process of which metamorphic
rocks would form, then there would be no diamonds (Crain). They need to go
through that process, so the sediments become a diamond. Another way that
diamonds are affected by, as said by Crain, the rock cycle is the process of how
Igneous rocks will be formed. Depending on the volcanic eruption happened the
diamond may be created differently. There are different paths the sediments can
take to become a diamond, also all the ways are made possible by the rock cycle.
With the fact the Diamonds are made by the rock cycle then it affects where we can
find them. We can see this from the fact that certain areas in the world have certain
attributes that let diamonds be able to form. Crain found that diamonds may be spat
out in the volcanic smoke that is released during an eruption. We can find them with
the gravel that came out as well with the volcanic... Show more content on

One way that it is is that without the process of erosion then we have no sediments
to form a new rock, and the carrying of bio sediment which is the collected. Then
the rock cycle takes over and puts so much pressure on the deposits, and then it
will turn to oil (Tabak). Also another way that oil is affected by the rock is that as
said by Tabak erosion predominates and the kerogen is exposed to the atmosphere,
no oil is formed, but if deposition dominates, the kerogen will slowly be buried
deeper and deeper which helps us with knowing if the rock cycle influences is where
we can find
Persuasive Plastic Problems
150,000 tons of plastic are littered into our ocean each year, yet we do nothing to
stop it. Plastic is capable of being deformed continuously and permanently in any
direction without rupture, making it almost impossible for the plastic to disintegrate.
Our population uses plastic for almost everything, once these objects are used they
are left in the street, beaches, and other places, natural sources then carry the objects
into the oceans. There, the plastic becomes stuck in currents, where it takes years to
disintegrate. The only people benefiting from this are companies who produced the
plastic. The problem is this plastic is harming marine life. Some simple solutions to
this include using reusable water bottles instead of plastic water... Show more content

Much of this trash ends up in the ocean harming not only marine life, but us too.
However, this is not only happening in America it s happening all over the world
with China at 8.82 million metric tons of mismanaged waste. All this waste if
caught in a gyre, can lead to one of the garbage patches. This has been happening
since we started using plastic but it the garbage patches were discovered in the early
1990 s. We keep throwing trash away that keeps being misplaced, then it ends up in
the oceans with the rest of the trash. I propose multiple solutions, to enforce plastic
bag ban and to enforce recycling. California has banned the use of plastic bags,
meaning that if you do use them a fine will be put in place. Environment California
explained how before the plastic bag ban California used up to 19 billion plastic
bags each year with less than five percent being recycled. However, we can change
that. By using less plastic bags we harm the ocean less. Another solution is to each
week collect each household s trash, per pound of trash found in the recycling bin
provided by the city should be a $11 fine. Tiffany Edmonds, Solid Waste
Management Department spokeswoman, explained why they started the fine It is an
attempt to change behavior. The fine covers the cost of sending a garbage collection
truck to the house to pick up the contaminated recycling bin this will encourage
people to recycle. Since the plastic
Compare And Contrast Between A Rock And A Hard Place
The book I just finished reading is Between a Rock and a Hard Place, I thought it
was a really good book. The book tells the true story about Aron Ralston and the
how he got his arm trapped under a boulder and how he had the courage to cut off
his own arm to save his life. The book is very similar to the movie. The first reason
that I liked this book was that it showed how dedicated he was to stay alive. For
example, when Ralston had his arm trapped under the boulder, he drank little of the
water he had so he could survive for a period of time. When his water went empty,
he drank his own blood and urine to stay hydrated. The second reason I liked this
book was that it showed more to Ralston than just having his arm trapped under a
rock. Although
Essay Standard English
In contemporary society the Standard variety of English is the most commonly
used as it is respected and associated with a higher prestige. Its usage is also
advocated by prescriptivists who believe that it is the correct and only variety that
should be used. Standard English is usually seen in formal settings, where its usage
is necessary for official and public purposes. However, contextual factors play a vital
role in determining the most appropriate variety to be used, which is supported by
the Principle of Appropriateness. Certain contexts where a non standard variety is
necessary are in social media settings and in communities of different ethnicities,
where they are undeniably required to create solidarity between speakers.... Show

A number of students also tried to make the contention that Standard English was not
necessary, without appreciating the irony they were discussing the topic using
Standard English. Standardisation and codification were often not well understood.
Few students explored the importance of orthography and grammar in maintaining
a Standard English and why these combine to create a variety of English that is
understood by most of the population. The following extract provided a broad
range of relevant and contemporary examples that enabled the student to provide
strong evidence in support of why other varieties of English have a value and place
in Australian society. There is good use of metalanguage and the paragraphing is
structured and cohesive. There are many people in society, especially those with a
prescriptivist attitude, who strongly believe that the Standard is intrinsically superior
to other varieties , as stated by K Burridge. It is clear however that this is not true,
when one considers the ability of ethnolects and Aboriginal English to express
identity and finer nuance. Ethnolects occur when features of someone s first language
or mother tongue are adopted into their second language, in this case English.
Features can include the phonological addition of vowel sounds to the ends of nouns
e.g. bread /_/ (common to Greek and Italian); the
The Glycemic Index
A key secret, and a major factor, to keeping your weight down and reducing your
chances of diabetes and other diet related health issues lies in eating foods low on
the Glycemic Index (as most raw foods are). Foods that are low on the Glycemic
Index tend to be high in fiber as well and actually provide your body with slow,
sustained energy throughout the day instead of sending it an energy burst that fizzles
out and crashes an hour later.
The Glycemic Index is a system of ranking foods according to how they affect our
blood sugar level, or insulin level within three hours after eating that food. It was
developed in the early 80s as a way to evaluate food and determine the affect on
blood sugar for diabetics, but quickly became a useful tool for everyone because of
the discoveries about how insulin raises in all people. The index is an indicator of

If we do not use all of the sugar (glucose) that the body has received, the extra stuff
is stored to be used later in the liver and muscles and eventually, if we still don t use
it all, it stores it in our fat banks. Some of us have fat banks on our thighs and but,
while others of us have them in the belly, arms chest etc. We can t change where our
body stores this extra energy but we can change how much it stores.
If you re not eating at least one raw food meal a day, that s a great starting point for
a raw food transition. Your daily meal can be something as simple as a fruit
smoothie, or even some raw hummus with olives, carrot sticks and celery.
If you already are eating raw, start to look into Food Combining Principles to really

The Model Of Emergent Leadership
Tuvia Bielski:
The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever
been in a situation where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a
short period of time ? Some people may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some
also believe that leaders are born with the necessary qualities, which make them
successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership, like many other character traits,
can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends on how you define
leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range from
promoting what is right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own
ideas. When you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that
you started something. Therefore, when it s finished you get to show people that you
were able to accomplish all of this.
Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia
Bielski. The movie unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader
of the partisan group. His characteristics that he possessed before he took his
position, groomed him into the leader he was then. Tuvia Bielski became a leader
because of the circumstances he found himself in.
Defining Leadership
Leadership means the period during which a person occupies the position of leader.
A leader is someone who brings a group of people together, and directs them toward

A Good Teacher Essay
Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a
person who teaches, especially in school, but can anyone be a teacher? That is a
matter of the possession of qualification and the overall talent utilized whilst on the
workforce. Having such qualification simply doesn t create a good teacher, though.
Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and time that one must be willing
to sacrifice from their daily lives. A good teacher must be able to teach the students
clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the day
or any sudden questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence
with themselves and be organized at all times. A good teacher respects his/her job
and tries to be as effective as possible.
But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers ranking and
that is being a great and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is easy, but being a

Women And Women During The World War I
A million Australians, both men and women, served in the Second World War. Half a
million were stationed overseas. They fought in campaigns against Germany and
Italy in Europe. The Australian homeland came under direct attack with aircraft

encouraged to be apart of the war effort, even children under the age of five. Over

To Kill A Mockingbird Essay On Real Courage
... I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage
is a man with a gun in his hand. It s when you know you re licked before you begin
but you begin anyway and you see through it not matter what (Lee, 11). This book
is a story about two siblings that experienced many things throughout the whole
book, most of them hard and new to them, but at the end, they assimilated to face
these things. Their father, Atticus, was a lawyer who did everything at his hands
to always do the right thing, and as a result of that, Jem and Scout met several
circumstances that other kids weren t exposed to and they learned to forgive and
and appreciate others the way they are. Compassion and forgiveness are perceptible
in this book and appreciable things like Camellias, and Red Geraniums can represent

Gaucher Disease is a type of lysosomal storage disorder. The importance is that they

inherited. Which means, that mothers and fathers genetically carry some type of
disorder and pass it down to their children. Because of this being caused by genetics,
symptoms will normally begin based upon what type of disorder that is inherited.

Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs And Quality Of Experience
Review of an article on learning theory: Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs and Quality
of Experience In Learning INTRODUCTION Learning Theory In education and
psychology, learning is generally defined as a practice that collectively brings
together emotional, cognitive and environmental influences as well as earlier
experiences for obtaining, improving, or even making changes in someone s
knowledge, values, skills and also world views (Fisher, 2005). Learning is a process
that mostly focuses on what occurs when learning happens. The explanation of what
happens is distinctively illustrated in the learning theories. A learning theory is
formulated as an attempt to describe how human beings and animals learn. This helps
to understand the fundamentally complex process of learning. These learning
theories comprise of two important values (Fisher, 2005). The first one is in
providing terms and a conceptual outline for deducing the examples of learning that
are observed. The other value is important when suggesting where and how to look
for solutions for practical problems. The theories may not give the desired solutions,
but they direct people s attention to the variables that are essential when finding
solutions, (Hergenhahn, 2005). Learning theory is therefore, an abstract framework
telling how information is absorbed in the brain, how it is processed and retained
during learning activities. It involves cognitive, environmental, emotional influences
and prior experiences are all
The Effects Of Global Warming On The Environment
Global warming is one of the biggest critical and controversial issue facing the world
in the twenty first century. Releasing carbon dioxide at contemporary rates will soon
thrust Earth s temperature significantly up. If the world keeps on going to burn fossil
fuels at the current rate, crossing a threshold will hurt all aspects of human
civilization: food, water, health, energy, economy and national security and of course,
the environment which is the most important aspect. How does it influence our life?
What are the effects of global warmingyou might ask yourself? Well, there are many
effects that global warming is having on the environment, particularly rise of sea
levels, melting of glaciers, and climate change.
One of the main motivations for the ocean level rising is that an unnatural weather
change is creating hotter temperatures and ice tops and icy masses are dissolving.
Ocean levels rising would impact 70% of the world s populace and 11 of the 15
greatest urban communities on the planet since they are situated on the drift. In the
course of the most recent century, the ocean level has risen five to six crawls and it
is relied upon to rise 0.6 to two feet in the following century ( 20 Countries Most At
Risk From Sea Level Rise 1). An essential reasons for an unnatural weather change
and the levels of the seas rising are greenhouses gasses, including carbon dioxide,
methane, and nitrous oxide. The gasses are decimating the air, bringing about the
temperature to
Knights Of Labor Strike Research Paper
Strikes were what workers organized to try and get out of the different situation
they were in. The concept of strikes in general is simple unity is power. Following
the same concept, workers organized unions which lobbied for their rights and tried
to make sure that the employment conditions for workers throughout the country
were acceptable and fair. Knights of Labor was the first major national organization
dedicated to protecting the interests not only of workers but also farmers.
Membership of the Knights of Labor, however, declined after the Haymarket Affair,
which was previously discussed. Unions in general were affected and became less
popular, as this violent strike caused them to look extremely careless towards the
value of human... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They created a Farmer s Alliance, which worked as a union, but for farmers. The
organization had several goals and actively campaigned for a subtreasury plan and
federal farm credits. They wanted the government to build warehouses which
would allow the farmers to store their crops there until they were sold. This would
allow them not to borrow so much money to be able to pay for storage. Another
advantage that the farmers saw with this plan was the crops ability to be a
collateral. This would essentially make the loans farmers took out have low interest
rates, since they would be considered secured. As time went on and the situation did
not look much better, The Grange was founded (1867). Just like the Farmer s
Alliance, this organization looked to solve problems with the intervention of the
government through economic means. Munn v. Illinois, a Supreme Court Case
from 1887, allowed states to regulate private industries, including railroad
companies. This allowed The Grange to use the situation to the advantage of
farmers and force companies to be fair and charge reasonable rates for the services
they provided. Nine years after this case, the Supreme Court reversed the decision in
Wabash v. Illinois. The public had an outrage the reaction made it clear that the
Wabash case decision was not popular with the people. The result of the outcry was
fairly effective, because the Interstate Commerce Commission
How To Build The Pharaoh s Pyramid
As you work on your family s farm, you notice a person getting closer. Once you
focus properly on the figure, you realize it s a royal official coming to bring you
news of the greatest joy: you will be given the honor of helping build the current
pharaoh s tomb. To help you excel in this task of utmost importance, I present to
you a small guide on the steps you should take to ensure the success of the project.
While you work on the tomb s site, you will use blocks made of granite and
limestone; rockers and sleds to transport them; stone and wooden tools; boats (some
to ferry materials, others to leave for the pharaoh to use in the afterlife); and some
filling dirt. Keep in mind that all these will be provided for you once you begin
working. To build the pyramid, you must prepare the grounds, build the principal
structure, then build the minor temples and add the finishing touches. Most of the
steps in preparing the grounds will be done by a professional, or the pharaoh himself.
First, the pharaoh will ask an architectto make a construction plan. Often, he will
choose a place to begin buildingthe structure before the plan is finished. As the...

As the passage in leveled, workers made a passage to the underground tomb. The
tomb will consist of a storage room for the pharaoh s possessions and the main
room for the sarcophagus. As this happens, other workers will transport the blocks
to the site and put them in place. As the pyramid grows taller, ramps will be put in
place in order to carry the heavy stones to the top. Surveyors will repeatedly check
the courses to ensure they are being built at the correct angle. When the pyramid
reaches a specific height, the lack of wallspace will decrease the number of ramps
in use. After 124 levels are completed, the granite capstone will be put in place and
the remaining ramps will be dismantled to signify the end of the construction of the
Altruism In Nursing Essay
Altruism is when people make act to benefit other people regardless the result or

Essay on Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana is the familiar name for a raw drug made from the plant cannabis sativa.
One of the active chemical in marijuana is tetrahydrocannabinal (THC); a stimulant it

Ancient East Asian Art From Gandhara
Ancient East Asian Art from Gandhara The Asian Art Museum located at 200 Larkin
St San Francisco, CA 94102is filled with antiquities through the ages of Asian culture.
Within the museum, in gallery one, the showroom is filled with ancient art from East
India. Particularly, ancient art from Gandhara, strikes the audience immediately upon
entry into the gallery. The Seated Buddha, dated approximately 300 500 CE, was
found in the northwest area of modern day Pakistan within the Peshawar valley, once
known as the ancient region of Gandhara. (Wall Label) Images of Buddha that have
been found were all dated at least 500 years after the death of Buddha, who lived
around 400 BC. Interestingly, the first few images of Buddha all have him shown in
an enlightened state of being, seated in his lotus position, and wearing simple monk
robes with one of his hands held at the chest while his fingers turning an invisible
wheel symbolizing setting in motion the wheel of the doctrine that is, preaching.
(Wall Label) The Seated Buddha sculpturehas Buddha sitting on a throne with a
scene depicted on the bottom. The scene shows a princely figure in the middle with
all his devotees surrounding him. This scene depicts the Gods urging Buddha to start
his path towards enlightenment. The Seated Buddha was made with Schist, a form
of dense stone that the region of Gandhara explicitly used for statues of Buddha and
religious works of art. The Seated Buddha is half human size and seated on top
Theme Of Mrs Mallard
What was the cause of Mrs. Mallard s death? The story revolves around a woman
named Mrs. Mallard, who gets informed that her husband had passed away after an
accident, though we later find out that was false information. Although, before she
found out it was false, her sister, Josephine, and her friend, Richards, try to break
the news of her husband s death to Mrs. Mallard as gently as possible since it was
described in the first sentence that Mrs. Mallad was afflicted with hearttrouble . There
are two possible meaning to this expression. Firstly, it could be taken literally, and
she probably has heart diseasewhich she has to be medicated for and she has to adapt
her lifestyle around. But as we read more of the story, we find out that this
expression is in fact a metaphor for Mrs. Mallard s suffering and the burden she
has to carry in her heart every day because of her husband and because of being in
an environment where she doesn t have any self expression or any opportunity to
fulfill what her heart greatly desires. When her husband died , she cried, but then
she came to the realization that perhaps his death could be a positive thing for her
since we get hints in the story that she might not have had a good marriage and she
probably feels free without him ( And yet she had loved him sometimes. Often she
had not. What did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that the settings is a symbol for how her husband controlled her. In the story,
we are only told about the door, the stairway, and Mrs. Mallard s room. I think that
the fact that we re only told about only a small section of the house symbolizes how
she felt suffocated and how she did not feel free. She felt suffocated by her
husband because when she was going up the staircase she said When the storm of
grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. She would have no one follow
Taking a Look at Complentizers
Chapter 1: Complementizers
1.1.Definition of Complementizers
Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a
special word called Complementizer . Words like that, if, and for are used to
introduce clauses that function as a complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the
verb in the subordi nate clause is related to these complementizers. For instance, the
complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer К”anna are used to
introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic К”an are, of course, for infinitival
ones.
Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com
plementizers in isolation.
1.2.Finite complementizers
A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person,
and number. In English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite
Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated
verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and future).
It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi
nite. While, on the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related
mainly to the complementizer that precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow
the comple mentizers that, if, and the Arabic К”anna are finite clauses.
1.2.1.The complementizer that
That is a complementizer used to introduce finite declarative clauses that function as
a complement or subject of the matrix clause.

Ever since it has been established there has not been a team with 3 losses in the
top 5. Only one time has there been a two loss team to make it to the National
Championship game. An argument against having a playoff would be that teams
would be rewarded for having an easy strength of schedule and not scheduling
difficult out of conference games. There would not be much reason for a non
power conference teams to schedule difficult games out of conference if it means
more to go undefeated. In NCAA Basketball non major conferences teams that don
t schedule may get unlucky when it comes to making NCAA tournament do to a
lack of strength of Schedule. For conferences such as the Southeastern Conference
and Big 12 which the teams are better should get rewarded by having more difficult
games. A one loss team in the Southeastern Conference shows much more than a
one loss Mountain West conference. This would be unfair to the major
conferences. It was because of this reason that the BCS takes in consideration the
Strength of schedule and quality wins. In 2002 Miami was left out of the title
game even though they beat Florida State head to head and yet Florida State made
it. Florida State lost and Miami won its bowl game to take in consideration quality
wins. One may say that a problem with the playoff is that a number one ranked
team can have a bad day and get knocked out of the playoffs which would seem
unfair. The BCS rankings are
Black Boy Character Analysis
Everybody, at one moment or another during their childhood, has wished to gain
the responsibilities of an adult. However, most kids are held back by the childish
part of themselves. They have to go through a coming of age cycle, that once
completed, has matured them and made them evolve from their old self. In Richard
Wright s autobiography Black Boy, we follow a young boy named Richard through
his own journey to become a man, as we see him struggle and overcome obstacles.
The author uses the motifs of hunger, discrimination, and religion to represent his
quest and to emphasize on all the challenges life throws at him. Richard s life is
horribly scarred by the haunting ghost of hunger. During his stay at West Helena,
once Aunt Maggie has left with his new uncle, Richard and his family are left with
no money to buy food. A few weeks after his aunt s departure, hunger [haunts him] so

[begs him] so continuously to come to God that it becomes impossible for him to
ignore them without wounding them. He desperately tries to think of some way to
say no without making them hate him (Wright 116). Religion represents the
conflict that flares in his family. He is different from them, and he wants to make
them to understand that without hurting them. When Ella is caught reading a
book to Richard, his grandmother gets furious and tells Richard that books are the
Devil s work [...], [and that he is] going to burn in hell (Wright, 39). For the first
time in his life, Richard has tasted what was life to him, and is determined to get
away from his family s religious beliefs and get himself the life he wants. He
realizes that they can t understand what he is feeling. In this book, religion is used
as a way to represent the tension in his family, and is used to make Richard gain
independence from his
Comparing Yelp, Tripadvisor And Netflix Essay
I choose to compare Yelp, TripAdvisor and Netflix. They all offer service on line.
The similar big data challenges for them is that in face of mountains of data, they
changed their data strategy and adjust to the market quickly.
Yelp, launched in 2004, has evolved so much from identifying great restaurants in
urban areas to providing user generated recommendations on a variety of merchants
across more than 30 countries, having it service mainly in the form of mobile device.
Since January 2013, yelp has experienced high traffic because of huge amounts of
users logging in activities, which needs big data infrastructure and data mining. In
2015, site s star ratings system is being supplemented with objective healthcare data
with the corporation with ProPublica. Yelp now uses Amazon Redshift to manage
petabyte scale data warehouse, uses MapReduce extensively and builds its
infrastructure on Amazon cloud, and uses Amazon Simple Storage Service to store
daily logs and photos of businesses.
TripAdvisor, found in 2000, is a travel website that offers reviews of travel related
content such as hotels, restaurants, and attractions. TripAdvisor is using several Big
Data techniques to provide such service, ranging from large scale real time analytics,
predictive analytics, data mining and statistical modelling. It has also developed a
custom Big Data platform, technologies including Hadoop, SQL Server, Hive,
Machine Learning, Redshift, R and Python.

Artificial Intelligence ( Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ) Essay
Within the construction industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to take
jobsites by storm. If someone were to walk onto a jobsite today, someone in that
location would be using AI. Current uses of AI today span from mobile technology
that supervision uses to man a jobsite to an actual robot pouring concrete or
welding a pipe. With the technology improvements being made daily, there will be a
day few people will consist of the workforce on the job, and the rest will be some
sort of robotics. Among the Artificial Intelligencebeing used or that will be the future
are: Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), SAM (Semi Automated Mason),
robotic welding, Autonomous TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) Truck, and Contour
Crafting.
Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) A lot of people may think of drones, also
known as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), as the toys children play with in the
yard after opening their Christmas gifts, but for the construction industry, it means
so much more. Drones are capable of a multitude of things, and for business owner
s and clients, the most important thing is getting the job done sooner with reduced
costs. Previously, layouts of jobsites took weeks. The land had to be surveyed to
verify if the soil was appropriate and whether it needed to be graded or not. Areas
had to be marked off where each trade would store their material. Physical surveying
of the area with tripods had to be done, as well, for the specific layout and placement
of the
Absorbance Experiment With Turnip Peroxidase
Introduction
Enzyme can be defined as a protein molecule that is a biological catalyst. (Ophardt,
2003) Catalyst increases the speed of a reaction but does not have to use anything to
help increase the speed. An enzyme can be determined by their properties. Enzyme
are a substrate specific, substrate connects to an enzyme at the location of an active
site. Enzyme is not used in a reaction and enzyme function in a good condition at the
optimum temperatures and pH. (Ahmez2005) Peroxidase is a type of enzyme which
is used in the experiment.
The type of peroxidase is used is called turnip peroxidase. Turnip peroxidase is made
up of Guaiacol and hydrogen peroxide. The reactants to the product are turnip
peroxidase or called tertraguaiacol and water. The color of the react is brown. In the
experiment was conducted there were baseline experiment, temperature, pH, 10X
substrate, Inhibitor, and half the amount of enzyme.
The baseline experiment is the control group. If the time increases over a period a
time then turnip hydrogen peroxidase will increase absorbance.
The temperature can have a major impact on an enzyme. According to Campbell
Biology author Reece etc. 2011 The enzyme reaction will increase as the temperature
increase with the increasing temperature....substrates collide with active sites more
frequently when the molecules move rapidly. (Reece etc 2011) Every enzyme hits its
optimal temperature the reaction will be at its highest point.(Reece etc. 2011) When

  • 2. William Shakespeare s Oedipus Tyrannus Oedipus Tyrannus is a play written by Sophocles, and it deals with the interactions between divine justice/fate and human control in the events that take place for Oedipus. He is the son of King Laius and Queen Jocasta but he was given away as an infant due to news of a horrid oracle that would destroy the kingdom and his parents. Apollo s oracle shows that Oedipuss destiny and life as a whole was already predetermined before he was born and that Oedipus has no choice that would affect those events. However the entire play is about the choices Oedipus is making, the investigation that brings him down is his own and the curse under which he falls is the one he utters from his own mouth. Oedipus goes from a prideful, arrogant and heroic king to a condemned humble man due to his tragic fate at the end of the play. Oedipus may not be happy towards the end of the play as opposed to the beginning but he reaches a point in which he is content. Oedipus is less free at the beginning of the play as compared to the end because he is tied down by the miasma and hubris that surround him after he killed his father. In the end of the play Oedipus finally has full knowledge of who he is, and he blinds himself in a rage of penitence, accepting total responsibility, by saying his actions as well as the god s fate are responsible for what he did, and he is determined to take the punishment of exile as well. Oedipus s character has changed drastically from the beginning of the play to the end.
  • 3. Mutli-Agent Based Modeling Multi Agent System/Agent Based Modeling Multi agent systems are among the methods used for modeling and simulating Natural Disaster emergencies. The terminology of Agent Based System tends to be used more often in the sciences and Multi Agent System in engineering and technology. The Agent Based System is gradually replacing the micro simulation techniques and object oriented simulation. Agent Based System has ability to capture different dynamic models which usually consist of simple entities or more complex entities. We have proposed a specific agent based methodological framework allowing, from modeling to simulation, the production of observables at different levels of details related to a Natural Disaster organization. A Multi Agent System can model the behavior of a set of entities. Agents have a degree of autonomy and are immersed in an environment in which and with which they interact. Modelers can use Multi Agent System to create computer representations of dynamic events such as Natural Disaster emergency. Therefore, the application of Multi Agent System in this area could help managers to experiment all possible scenarios of a disaster and assist them in making decisions. A multi agent based system is a powerful modeling technique for simulating individual interactions in a dynamic system and is distinctive in its ability to simulate situations with unpredictable behavior Earlier researches have focused on modeling of the rescue during Natural Disasters, but
  • 4. The Influence Of The Potsdam Conference The Potsdam Conference was held at Cecilienhof, the home of Crown Prince Wilhelm Hohenzollern, in Potsdam, occupied Germany, from 17 July to 2 August 1945. The goals of the conference also included the establishment of post war order, peace treaty issues, and countering the effects of the war. In the five months since the Yalta Conference, a number of changes had taken place which would greatly affect the relationships between the leaders. The Soviet Unionwas occupying Central and Eastern Europe and Stalin claimed that it was a legitimate sphere of Soviet influence. Roosevelt had dismissed warnings of a potential domination by a Stalin dictatorship in Europe, however, his successor Harry S. Truman became increasingly suspicious of Soviet intentions under Stalin. The Potsdam Conference marks the first and only time Truman would ever meet Stalin in person. At the end of the conference it was decided that both Germany and Austria would be divided into four zones and that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among the controversial decisions to be reached at Potsdam were those pertaining to Poland. As part of the Potsdam talks, the US and Britain agreed to recognize the Soviet backed Provisional Government of National Unity rather than the Polish government in exile which had been based in London since 1939. In addition, Truman reluctantly agreed to accede to Soviet demands that Poland s new western border lay along the Oder Neisse Line. The use of these rivers to denote the new border saw Germany lose nearly a quarter of its pre war territory with most going to Poland and a large part of East Prussia to the Soviets. Though Bevin argued against the Oder Neisse Line, Truman effectively traded this territory to gain concessions on the reparations issue. The transfer of this territory led to the displacement of large numbers of ethnic Germans and remained controversial for

Math did indeed help the Egyptian community and their king by building pyramids, tombs, art crafts, and using math to solve the flood on Nile Valley. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Egypt grows into a great land of arts and crafts so did their knowledge of math grew as they find ways to count, solve problems, and every day use of math. Ever since then Egyptians quickly develop their own use of math skills and numbers to use. Meanwhile Egypt already has their own writing system, they quickly convert into the numeral system which is called Egyptian Numerals (OО„Connor and Robertson, 2000). Egyptians were very careful because mathematics required them to deal the form of fractions. In ancient Egypt mathematics was used for measuring time, straight lines, the level of the Nile floodings, calculating areas of land, counting money, working out taxes and cooking. Math was even used in mythology the Egyptians figured out the numbers of days in the year with their calendar (Seawright, 2013). It is true that Nile Valley flooded yearly. As Stevenson, 2000 wrote Nile is the longest river and flows from three branches: The Blue Nile, the White Nile and the Atbara. • 6. Best Man Wedding Toast Essay Best Man Wedding Speech Its turning out to be a day packed full new experiences for me. It s the first time I ve had the honour of being a best man, It s the first time that Brandon has complimented me in over 30 years, and it s the first time I ve got a free dinner out of him since that kebab he bought me back in 93. So far things have been going pretty well...until now. Start the car Steve. Ladies, Gentlemen, boys, girls Brandon and Lisa, First of all, let me begin on behalf of the bridesmaids, Michelle, Ellie, Hannah and Emily, I would like to thank Brandon for his kind words, and I have to say they look absolutely wonderful and have done an excellent job today. I don t remember meeting Brandon for the first time, he just kind of appeared many, many years ago before I was old enough to have a memory. However, that may well be a good thing, because some of those early memories are quiet disturbing. During the mid to late seventies Brandon was quiet convinced that he was 70 s motorcycle pin up Erik Estrada from Chips. (At this point I held up a picture of this guy and compared it with a picture of 7 year old Brandon to emphasise how dissimilar they looked) He also thought that Cola Cubes made him bionic! A tip that you might like to pick up on there Lisa! Its testimony to Lisa Brandons relationship that he s now over Erik, and Brandons smile has now returned following that fateful afternoon back in 1980 when, out of his mind on a quarter of cola cubes he attempted his first and last ever non handed bicycle jump. I think I can sum up the moment by combining the words, crown jewels and crossbars. In fact it s a miracle of medicine that Brandon did not just deliver his speech to you today in the style of Joe Pescuali. As Brandon progressed to becoming a teenager he found that if he took his cola cubes in liquid form and added a decent shot of Vodka, he became even more bionic! Of course some of us know different. Yes we know that it made him talk rubbish like the best of us can, but the funniest thing was that it made him dance like he was actually trying to take his trousers off. At

It is a corner stone of society and a very necessary part of the social system. It is a crucial and sacred bond between two personalities merging into one for ideas, attitudes, habits and likes and dislikes. In Philippines marriage is considered a lifelong partnership. It is the foundation stone on which the family is built. Basically marriage is a social and legal contract. People marry great number of reasons personal or social. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It plays an important role in transmitting culture and civilization to future generations. Nowadays, family is becoming just an individualistic conjugal family, not even aware of its roots. From times immemorial, Filipinos have tried to idealize and sanctify the institution of marriage as no other civil society has done so far (Diwan 2005). The concept of marriage a sort of man woman relationship as a responsible one to one unit of society evolved a unique human family system. Its essential components were intercourse, procreation of children and living together with mutual obligations and responsibilities to the care of offspring. The traditional Filipino family was an institution, a joint family system, characterized by homogeneous togetherness of parents, grandparents, sons and daughters, their spouses, even uncles and aunts. Marriage is not merely a private contract, but a social institution of great public value and concern. Since the 1940s and 1950s, the composition of families has changed, with marriage rates declining substantially. Cherlin (2004) discusses the deinstitutionalization of marriage. Society has become more accepting of different forms of marriage and alternatives to marriage. As social science research and government surveys increasingly show, the decline in marriage since the 1960s has been accompanied by a rise in a number of serious social problems. Since the 1960s, marriage has moved from being a companionate type of

The largest market segment of the past five years was middle aged males. As these consumers age, the industry will find it harder to sell more motorcycles to them. MARKET TRENDS: Business Trends: Favorable Demographics most motorcycle buyers are between the age of 35 and 64, a demographic forecast to grow about 17 percent between 2006 and 2015 in the US. The industry is also attracting younger buyers. Motorcycle ownership among Generation Y grew by more than 23 percent between 2008 and 2012, according to the Motorcycle Industry Council. More Female Riders Motorcycle manufacturers are targeting female riders. Female ownership is growing faster than male ownership. Manufacturers are building units with lower seats, lighter weight, and lower tension clutches to attract female riders. More than 10 percent of US motorcyclists are women. Additional revenues are generated from accessories, clothing, and riding gear. Volatile Gas Prices Higher gas prices can have both a favorable and unfavorable impact on motorcycle sales. Motorcycles are a much more economical form of transportation than most cars and trucks. However, higher gas prices reduce disposable personal income available for purchases. Most motorcycles in the US are used for recreation rather than for day to day transportation. Industry opportunities: Additional Upgrades and Customized Products
  • 11. Questions On Database Management System 1.Interpreting language: Since the file processing system can be built on any of the programming languages, this will be a tedious task for other language developers to understand the actual logic behind the data storage and build a new requirement. But Database Management System (DBMS) uses a Structured Query Language (SQL) which will be used universally to insert, update or delete the data by all the developers and this will act as a common language for all the developers/ end users to work with the data. 2.Data redundancy and inconsistency. In file processing system, many files are generated or created using different programming languages by different developers in one particular project. For example, let us consider the example of a Software project which consists of various teams/ developer teams. a.Duplicate data: In our software project example, if we have a particular person working on two technologies namely .NET developer and as an Automation test developer, then the same person information (namely employee id, email id, phone number) will be stored in both the files(namely .NET team file and the Automation test developer file) In DBMS, by using the normalization concepts on tables, we design the database in such a way that the data is not duplicated. b.Data Redundancy leads to higher storage and access cost. As the same employee s data is stored in two different files, this leads to unnecessary usage of disk space for the same employee data which will

Communications can only be successfully understood when both sender and receiver comprehend the same information and in current times with industries technology progressively developing and at a fast pace it has become increasingly important for individuals to have good communicational skills. For section 1 of the module I will be identifying and explaining the relevance of the effective communication in management, this will be achieved by analyzing the relevance of the communication cycle by understanding the key importance of using both the 5 C s of communication and selecting the correct tone, language and level of formality for management communications. This process will be assessed in both verbal and written communication methods. For the second section of the module I will reflect and develop effective communications skills. I will develop criteria and create a questionnaire to evaluate my own abilities in verbal and written communications. Using the feedback received from my colleagues I will identify strengths and areas which require improvement. Section 1 Understand the importance of effective
  • 13. How Did The Economy Affect The Mexican Economy Decades later, another series of events led to a new wave of feminists. In the 1970 s, Mexico became one of the world s largest oil suppliers to the world market. International bankers made loans to Mexico, who promptly accepted them, but sooner than later the interest rates and debt rose to an uncontrollable point. Intending to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration spent vast amounts of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and manufacturing. However, the country s debt rose due to the US and other countries taking advantage of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and with it, the Mexican economy. Therefore their family per capita was greater than when the men were in charge. The economic crisis of the 1980 s caused great harm to the Mexican economy, but had lasting beneficiary effects on genderequality. Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering countries to find better work, the women were forced to join the workforce. Families assimilated to the lack of presence of women at home, generating creative strategies to continue on. 70% of households bought less food, clothing, shoes, etc. and spent less on transportation and food than prior to the economic crisis. There was a dramatic increase of women aged twenty to twenty four in the workforce, rising by ten percent since prior to the crisis. However, some social customs still remained. Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay Giuseppe Garibaldi The Sword of Italian Unification My goal, which was, I believe, shared by most italians at that time, was to unite the country and rid it of foreign powers. Those who gave Italy her freedom would earn her people s gratitude (Garibaldi, page 6). During the age of Italian unification, there were three men who fought for her (Italy s) freedom. Those men were Cavour the brains, Mazzini the soul, and Garibaldi the sword (Chastain). Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice in 1807 (Garibaldi, page 173). Most of his account of twenty years of battle is more epic in nature, and includes many negative interactions with authority figures. In all of his autobiography, he clearly mentions his personal values at the beginning of his period of exile from Italy, and he does so with powerful language: It is difficult to find perfection among humankind: let us try to be good; let us teach the masses, as far as we can, the principles of justice and truth;; let us fight theocracy and tyranny, the embodiments of lies and evil, whatever form they take but let us show compassion toward our own cruel human race, which among its other merits has the ability to generate on half of itself made up of emperors, kings, policemen and priests, who appear to be born with all the attributes of torturers for the glory and the good of the rest of us (Garibaldi, page 48). From this quote we can clearly see that freedom, truth, and justice was the primary values of Garibaldi. This values are , in turn, aligned very closely with his organizational commitments and actions. From his book, it can inferred that he is always concerned for the safety and well being of his troops. From his oversight into obtaining a proper burial of comrade in arms, Anazini, to the constant references to the need to obtain proper clothing and food for his troops. Giuseppe displays a great hatred for his superiors when they do not deliver on their promise of clothing

A particularly infamous and widely known heavy metal is lead. Lead has been a particular useful element in early human history. It saw many uses from making jewelry to the height of its use in the ancient world as Roman plumbing. Most people would shudder at the thought of drinking water from lead pipes with all the hysteria associated with lead; however, lead pipes or more commonly lead solder are still around today though mainly in outdated water lines that have been grandfathered. Absorption of lead into water has been found proportional to the temperature of the water. Unsurprisingly, the warmer the water, the higher the lead concentration; however, the change in lead concentration compared to the temperature shift is quite surprising. There are rules that people are expected to follow. Rules are the conventions of everyday life that make our interactions with other people predictable and orderly. Some rules matter of the law. Occupational roles determine correct behavior for a manager and an employee, a professor and student. Attaining expertise come with experience and training. Change is relatively easy it is an entrenched habit of thinking or behavior takes considerable time and effort. One has to change themselves, but also their relationships with others who may be rewarding the or old ways if they want the problems to be solve. Learning new skills improves one s working memory, better verbal intelligence and above all increases dialectal skills. In the end, the more expert you become, the less work the brain has to do. Over time, acquired skills become automatic, and one does not have to think about what they are doing. The fact that our behavior is to a large extent predetermined by our connection with other people should not induce us to lose sight of the most private and unique facets of our personalities. It is, of course easy for us to slip into the idea that our meanings are obviously better that those developed by other cultures. Because they are so thoroughly a part of ourselves, they seem right and proper just as some of the behavior that seems peculiar,

Literary Critics In Harold Bloom s The Metamorphosis The literary realm consists of countless remarkable novels; however, there are a selection of works that are deemed canonical, or worthy of literary merit. Often, the definition of a work that belongs in the canon or qualifies as literary merit is ambiguous due to numerous discrepancies; nevertheless, Harold Bloom has deemed hundreds of works canonical in his criticism, Elegy of the Canon. In his work, Bloom claims that to be admitted to the canon, a work must achieve: aesthetic, timelessness, and innovation. Nabokov s Good Readers, Good Writers, follows a similar set of rules to define the superiority of canonical works as having three points of view : a storyteller, a teacher, and an enchanter. The parallel between both criticisms revolves around the sophistication within the structure of the works. A canonical novel is not superior due to its plot or relevance, but rather the finesse of its writing, which is left for the reader to discover. When reading a canonical work, one must read it properly to understand its quality. Nabokov and Bloom concur that to respect the author, one must read without previous bias. If a work contains both aspects, that work may constitute a piece worthy of literary merit. The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka exemplifies a short story worth of such literary merit as it qualifies the criteria with its structural aspects: unexpected sentence endings, unique point of view, everlasting messages, and artistic style. These aspects assist in

A $1.7 trillion annual budget and congressional decentralization through the committee system allows lawmakers to specialize and make decisions on a wide range of complex topics. This is very different to the House of Commons (HoC), which has a much smaller budget and a less rigorous committee system. The rigorous nature of the Congressional committee system (CCS) could be seen as advantageous since it allows detailed legislation on potentially complex topics to be written. However, the composition of the committee may not be unbiased, and once the legislation has been drafted it must be ratified by the rest of Congress. Since the CCS is so important to the USlegislative process the membership of the committees requires careful consideration. The composition, range of interests, and the scope of their policies are determined by the members. If a committee were full of like minded people that were not socially representative of the people the policies concern, then it is feasible for the democratic process to be undermined. Furthermore, the quality of the resulting bill is highly dependent on the ability of the committee members. To counter these potentially negative influences the bill must be ratified by Congress once it leaves the Committee phase. With 535 members of Congress it can be very

The meeting took place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held almost every Sunday. The reason I had choose this location for the meeting was because it was near my home. When I first entered the room I was expecting the stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a circle of chairs in a room with no tables. Both oil and diamond are very much impacted by the rock cycle. Both are affected by where we can find them, also how they are made. I believe that because of the rock cycle we have both oil, and diamond without the rock cycle we would not have oil or diamond. Diamond is affected by the rock cycle in many different ways. One way is that without the process of which metamorphic rocks would form, then there would be no diamonds (Crain). They need to go through that process, so the sediments become a diamond. However, contextual factors play a vital role in determining the most appropriate variety to be used, which is supported by the Principle of Appropriateness. The Model Of Emergent Leadership Tuvia Bielski: The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a situation where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ? Some people may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born with the necessary qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership, like many other character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends on how you define leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range from promoting what is right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something. Therefore, when it s finished you get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this. Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The movie unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was then. Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in. Defining Leadership Leadership means the period during which a person occupies the position of leader. A leader is someone who brings a group of people together, and directs them toward a common goal. Someone can easily

This box set does not include Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, or Abbey Road because those final three albums were only mixed in stereo. These original mono mixes are how many purists believe these songs were meant to be heard. And they have a good point! Those mono mixes were the ones that the band themselves worked on. The stereo mixes were merely an afterthought in comparison. Another thing that may make this box set a great gift is it s collectible status. There may be only limited quantities of these mono box sets made and if that s the case it s value should actually go up over the years (if kept in good condition.) It s when you know you re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see through it not matter what (Lee, 11). This book is a story about two siblings that experienced many things throughout the whole book, most of them hard and new to them, but at the end, they assimilated to face these things. Their father, Atticus, was a lawyer who did everything at his hands to always do the right thing, and as a result of that, Jem and Scout met several circumstances that other kids weren t exposed to and they learned to forgive and and appreciate others the way they are. Similar to type one, type three can show up later in childhood, and take longer to progress into worse symptoms. Sadly, infants that are proscribed with type two disease normally don t live to see the age of three. Type two disease quickly takes effect over a person, not allowing the chance for growth into adulthood. The most severe Gaucher s disease is Perinatal lethal, which can kill an infant in a matter of days after being born. The causes for Perinatal lethal, according to Web MD (3) are, too much fluid in baby s body before or after being born, dry skin, enlarged liver and spleen, and severe brain and spinal cord problems. Because of these problems an infant will not be capable of having much of a chance to grow and mature, due to the weakness of being a fragile newborn. Ages that symptoms begin, normally vary due to what type of disorder the person has. The main problem with lysosome diseases are that they are genetically inherited. Which means, that mothers and fathers genetically carry some type of disorder and pass it down to their children. Because of this being caused by genetics, symptoms will normally begin based upon what type of disorder that is inherited. Which makes it hard to know at what age symptoms will

Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs And Quality Of Experience Review of an article on learning theory: Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs and Quality of Experience In Learning INTRODUCTION Learning Theory In education and psychology, learning is generally defined as a practice that collectively brings together emotional, cognitive and environmental influences as well as earlier experiences for obtaining, improving, or even making changes in someone s knowledge, values, skills and also world views (Fisher, 2005). Learning is a process that mostly focuses on what occurs when learning happens. The explanation of what happens is distinctively illustrated in the learning theories. A learning theory is formulated as an attempt to describe how human beings and animals learn. This helps to understand the fundamentally complex process of learning. These learning theories comprise of two important values (Fisher, 2005). The first one is in providing terms and a conceptual outline for deducing the examples of learning that are observed. The other value is important when suggesting where and how to look for solutions for practical problems. The theories may not give the desired solutions, but they direct people s attention to the variables that are essential when finding solutions, (Hergenhahn, 2005). Learning theory is therefore, an abstract framework telling how information is absorbed in the brain, how it is processed and retained during learning activities. It involves cognitive, environmental, emotional influences and prior experiences are all

If the world keeps on going to burn fossil fuels at the current rate, crossing a threshold will hurt all aspects of human civilization: food, water, health, energy, economy and national security and of course, the environment which is the most important aspect. How does it influence our life? What are the effects of global warmingyou might ask yourself? Well, there are many effects that global warming is having on the environment, particularly rise of sea levels, melting of glaciers, and climate change. One of the main motivations for the ocean level rising is that an unnatural weather change is creating hotter temperatures and ice tops and icy masses are dissolving. Ocean levels rising would impact 70% of the world s populace and 11 of the 15 greatest urban communities on the planet since they are situated on the drift. In the course of the most recent century, the ocean level has risen five to six crawls and it is relied upon to rise 0.6 to two feet in the following century ( 20 Countries Most At Risk From Sea Level Rise 1). They created a Farmer s Alliance, which worked as a union, but for farmers. The organization had several goals and actively campaigned for a subtreasury plan and federal farm credits. They wanted the government to build warehouses which would allow the farmers to store their crops there until they were sold. This would allow them not to borrow so much money to be able to pay for storage. Another advantage that the farmers saw with this plan was the crops ability to be a collateral. This would essentially make the loans farmers took out have low interest rates, since they would be considered secured. As time went on and the situation did not look much better, The Grange was founded (1867). Just like the Farmer s Alliance, this organization looked to solve problems with the intervention of the government through economic means. Munn v. Illinois, a Supreme Court Case from 1887, allowed states to regulate private industries, including railroad companies. This allowed The Grange to use the situation to the advantage of farmers and force companies to be fair and charge reasonable rates for the services they provided. Nine years after this case, the Supreme Court reversed the decision in Wabash v. Illinois. The public had an outrage the reaction made it clear that the Wabash case decision was not popular with the people. Taking a Look at Complentizers Chapter 1: Complementizers 1.1.Definition of Complementizers Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word called Complementizer . Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi nate clause is related to these complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer К”anna are used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic К”an are, of course, for infinitival ones. Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com plementizers in isolation. 1.2.Finite complementizers A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and future). It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi nite. While, on the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related mainly to the complementizer that precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow the comple mentizers that, if, and the Arabic К”anna are finite clauses. 1.2.1.The complementizer that That is a complementizer used to introduce finite declarative clauses that function as a complement or subject of the matrix clause.

Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) A lot of people may think of drones, also known as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), as the toys children play with in the yard after opening their Christmas gifts, but for the construction industry, it means so much more. Drones are capable of a multitude of things, and for business owner s and clients, the most important thing is getting the job done sooner with reduced costs. Previously, layouts of jobsites took weeks. The land had to be surveyed to verify if the soil was appropriate and whether it needed to be graded or not. Areas had to be marked off where each trade would store their material. Physical surveying of the area with tripods had to be done, as well, for the specific layout and placement of the

(Ophardt, 2003) Catalyst increases the speed of a reaction but does not have to use anything to help increase the speed. An enzyme can be determined by their properties. Enzyme are a substrate specific, substrate connects to an enzyme at the location of an active site. Enzyme is not used in a reaction and enzyme function in a good condition at the optimum temperatures and pH. (Ahmez2005) Peroxidase is a type of enzyme which is used in the experiment. The type of peroxidase is used is called turnip peroxidase. Turnip peroxidase is made up of Guaiacol and hydrogen peroxide. The reactants to the product are turnip peroxidase or called tertraguaiacol and water. The color of the react is brown. In the experiment was conducted there were baseline experiment, temperature, pH, 10X substrate, Inhibitor, and half the amount of enzyme. The baseline experiment is the control group. If the time increases over a period a time then turnip hydrogen peroxidase will increase absorbance. The temperature can have a major impact on an enzyme. According to Campbell Biology author Reece etc. 2011 The enzyme reaction will increase as the temperature increase with the increasing temperature....substrates collide with active sites more frequently when the molecules move rapidly. (Reece etc 2011) Every enzyme hits its optimal temperature the reaction will be at its highest point.(Reece etc. 2011) When the
