Integration Of Advance Practice Nursing Case Study
Integration of Advance Practice Nurses has been an ongoing process for the last four decades
(Wilson, 2016; DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010). There are several types of APNs including
Primary Health NPs, Pediatric NPs and Adult NPs (Wilson, 2016; DiCenso Bryant Lukosius,
2010). The following assignment intends to explore a particular advance practice nurse (ANP)
role in the current Canadian health care system. Melissa Harriott, BScN, RN, MN, NP has been
interviewed to describe her advance practice role, philosophy of health, core competencies, and the
nature of her practice as an ANP at the University of Alberta Hospital. Currently, Melissa is the
first and the only nurse practitioner in Canada that performs colonoscopies as a part of... Show more

The clinic has been very successful in managing patients IBD symptoms in a timely manner while
preventing unnecessary emergency department visits, and alleviating anxiety and depression
associated with the unpredictable flares, ineffective pharmacological management and potential
development of negative self image. Kurina, Goldacre and Gill (2001) stated that over 60 percent of
the studied population with IBD had anxiety and/or depression. Poor symptom management,
ineffective coping mechanisms, lack of support, and negate self imaging, are the main risk factors
associated with the anxiety in the population with IBD (Bannaga Selinger, 2015). Melissa
concurred with the above statement and indicated that the interprofessional collaborative treatment
approach at the clinic offers short wait times, multidimensional support and long term follow up for
the patients. She also stated that her role includes all categories of core competencies of an NP
(Canadian Nurses Association [CNA], 2010; Wilson, 2016). The NP assesses patients at the clinic,
based on the laboratory work and biopsies taken during a colonoscopy, she confirms whether the
patient has IBD and specifies the type. In cases with previously known condition she assesses the
intensity of the flare and decides upon further actions, which include medication initiation
/adjustment, referral to the dietitian, referral to additional diagnostic imaging, and collaboration
with the IBD nurse for the further

What Is The Siddhartha Journey
Siddhartha Journey In the book Siddhartha, He goes on many journeys, and faces many
challenges in his life throughout the book. Both good and bad, in this life today everyone has a
journey. Every journey is different and some are better than others. As I approach the end of my
high school career, I think I have already started my journey, but a major part of it is about to
happen. Looking at life before graduating high school is scary. It seems like yesterday I was
crying because my mom was about to leave me for my first day of preschool. I am about to
begin and figure out what life has ahead for me and what my point is in life. To me that s scary. I
am excited to see what my point in life is, but at the same time nervous. So many times

Boundaries In The United States And The Galapagos Islands
A constructive boundary is a boundary that seems to add to the surface of the earth, one example
would be mountains. These plate boundaries include continental oceanic boundary, oceanic oceanic
boundary, and continental continental boundary. For continental oceanic convergent the oceanic
sinks under the lighter continental plate and then melts into magma, this magma rises through the
crust to form volcanoes. An oceanic oceanic convergent boundarycreates volcanic island chain, by
the subduction and melting of one plate then magma rises through the crust to form islands and
volcanoes. A continental continental convergent boundary is where two continental plates collide
and neither of them are dense enough to subdue so the wrinkle up to form mountains. One example
of this is the Himalayan mountains which are formed from the Indian continental plate pushing into
the Eurasian plate causing the to ruffle up into mountains.
One great example of this the Galapagos Islands which is a chain of volcanic islands located off the
coast of Ecuador. Theses islands are formed from two oceanic plates pushing against one another.
The two plates that formed this island chain are the South American and Pacific plates, the Pacific
plate subdue underneath the South American plate and melted, this magma rose to ... Show more

Continental divergent plates happen when two continental plates pull apart from another causing

water. Oceanic oceanic divergent two plates are pushed apart by the continual expansion of magma

Treatment with a PAI 1 inhibitor reduces bevacizumab induced VTE.
Abstract
Thromboembolism is a major source of morbidity and mortality in patients with cancer. An
increased incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is associated with anti vascular endothelial
growth factor (VEGF) treatment in cancer. However, the mechanism of VTE initiation remains
elusive. In this study, we examined the effect of bevacizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody
against VEGF A, on either an inferior vena cava stenosis or saphenous vein model in a xenograft
mouse model. We found that treatment with bevacizumab accelerated

Francisco Goya May 3 1808
Francisco Goya s The Executions of May 3, 1808, is a remarkably interesting piece of art. This
piece represents a protest against the Napoleon Occupational Army in Madrid. There are various
visual elements and design principles in the art, which will be covered. The beginning of this
ILO will contain the visual elements first, followed by the design principles, and what they
mean in the artwork. In Goya s art, we can see the primary, visual element of lines. Lines
represent motion, dynamics, and direction. The soldiers are aiming their rifles at a group of
prisoners waiting for execution. Horizontal lines indicate a peaceful scene, however, in this case,
it would be appropriate to say they mean a sense of destruction or death, as the title of the art
depicts. As the view follows the direction of the lines, the viewer is immediately drawn to the man
with the bright white shirt. The values of the piece are relatively dark and morbid, however, when
we look at the man with the white shirt, we can see the opposite effect of the bright white shirt.
Going back to the element of lines, once the viewer looks at the man with the white shirt, you can
see his hands are in a diagonal position. These diagonal lines represent dynamics and tension. The
pressure comes from the imminent execution of that man.

We must also deduce whether the balance is symmetrical or asymmetrical. If one splits the painting
in half, one can see it is not completely balanced. You have more weight on the right hand side
than you do on the left. However, regarding art, it is balanced. Even though there are more objects
on the right, the values of the bright white shirt give it a sense of equal distribution. This uneven,
yet balanced proportion of the art tells the viewer that it is asymmetrical. It is asymmetrical because
it is unequally distributed, yet it is still

Review Of The Ministry Of Music On The Black Church
Introduction and Thesis
Music is an inseparable element of Black life and therefore Black worship. The Black Church
understands worship to be a communal act of adoration towards God that may involve praise or
petition via song, dance, music (use of instruments), recitation, meditation, chanting, and or prayer
(Mason, 2016). According to James Cone, Black music is unity music because it unites...the hope
and despair;...and it moves the people towards the direction of total liberation; and confronts the
individual with the truth of black existence and affirms that black being is possible only in the
communal context (p. 5). It is with this understanding that black people worship through music and
without this understanding worship and music are diluted. J. Wendell Mapson articulated this idea
in his book, The Ministry of Music in the Black Church, when he noted that purpose of worship is
forfeited when singing music that has no relationship to everyday life, and the worshipper
becomes disconnected from the way music and worship have historically served blacks (41). In
this same vain, James Cone asserted that Black music is theological because it reveals how God
moves people towards unity and self determination.
Such unity and self determination was evidenced in 1801, when Richard Allen, founder of the
African Methodist Episcopal Church published a hymnal by and for African Americans (Costen,
81). Hymns have served black people in their everyday lives and had and have

and the dhoklas living next to the dosas, and the dosas living next to the parathas, biryanis,
manchurians, which is living next to the original fish curry. Focusing on the history of food in

Mumbai has a lot of its street food stalls set up by the beaches. The buzzing atmosphere and
staring into the horizon leads to a meal on the beach and socks full of sand. Juhu beach is on the
list of the popular destinations of street food in mumbai. The stalls out there serve plates and

Descriptive Essay About Plane Trip
It was 8 o clock in the morning when we boarded the plane for Hawaii. My parents were waiting
for this trip for a long time. Mom was a flight attendant that was based in Hawaii, and Dad was
living here while doing collage. We have never been on a trip like this before. We have gone on
car trips, but never on a plane. As we were boarding the plane my brother, Lowden and I were in
awe of what we saw. There was a tunnel leading to the plane with little windows you could look
outside with. It was a rainy day outside, and with little drops of water just enough to make you
cool. We got inside the plane with flight attendants greeting us by putting flowers in our hair. Our

We have old friends, we are meeting at the beach let s go, Mom said excitedly.
We drove away from the beautiful mountains and towards the beach. Every time we passed a
restaurant I stuck my nose out the window. smelling the amazing aromas of tropical food. When
we finally reached the beach we all hopped out of the car. We walked closer and closer to the
ocean. Once we got close enough to the sand I took off my flip flops, and ran into the ocean.
There was only about 30 people at the beach. About half of them were just laying in the sand
tanning, and the other half was playing in the water.

was leading out to sea. Lowden asked Dad if we could walk across it. He said only if we re careful
because it is slippery. I was the first to walk across it. The wall when about 30 feet into the ocean.
Do you want to go out the the edge and jump into the water? I asked.
Sure, Lowden Replied
We kept walking slowly down towards the edge of the wall. We got the the edge of the wall, and
Lowden asked who should go first. I insisted because I was so excited to get in the water for the
first time. I jumped in. Crunch. My knees were bent and I was touching the ocean floor.

Biological Sociological Theory
Few, if any, issues have been more troubling to society in general than that of crime. The problems
are as well by no means new, as a range of theories and research efforts have historically sought to
clarify why crime occurs, just as there remain concerns as to how best to treat and/or punish
offenders. Within this subject, then, specific theories dominate study, and various scientists,
psychologists and sociologists tend to support biological, psychological, or sociological
explanations for criminality. Each theory, not unexpectedly, has value, as each approach addresses
known factors of the nature of crimeand those who manifest the behavior. Nonetheless, each theory
is also inextricably related to the others, if only because human conduct and existence are invariably
multifaceted. As the following then supports through individual assessments of the dominant
thinking,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As is obvious, the subject is immense, and involves a range of justice, social, and psychological
efforts and perspectives. In more recent years, there has as well been a greater emphasis on
determining the mentioned causal factors, as a more comprehensive understanding of what
generates crime must enable strategies to prevent its occurring. This in itself, however, creates
dispute, as varying studies and opinions alternately support biological, sociological, and
psychological forces as most responsible for criminality. Most arguments for each theory make
strong cases, yet it is also arguable that each is in fact exponentially related to the others, if to
differing levels of impact. As the following examines, then, biological, sociological, and
psychological theories as to crime causation are by no means mutually exclusive, and the most
valid awareness of what causes criminal behavior relies on applying

Tacitus And Roman Imperialism
Tacitus believes that Roman Imperialism has a variety of attributes that include prosperity,
cruelty, and jealousy. He is more so critical of conquests attempted by people he does not favor.
Tacitus is a great source of the Roman imperialist results as he lived through emperor s who were
thought to be effective and others who were unsatisfactory to say the least. He favored the
Trajanic regime that he was serving under while criticized Domitian s reign undoubtedly. Overall,
his opinion on imperial rule was mostly negative since it promoted the corruption of the ruler and
the ruled, increased secrecy, paranoia, cruelty and moral downgrades in the emperors, and an
increase in greed, hypocrisy, and cowardice in the subjects. While he talks... Show more content on

Yet human nature is so weak that the cure lags behind the disease. As our bodies, which grow so
slowly, perish in a flash, so too the mind and its interests can be more easily crushed than
brought again to life. Tacitus is ecstatic about the current and last regime slowly bringing back
freedom to the empire, but acknowledges that it is an extremely sluggish process that can be
inhibited more easily than furthered. Roman imperialism can be a two headed beast, one
bringing joy and prosperity while the other rains down fire and brimstone. However, Tacitus
could be viewed as hypocritical considering he condemned Domitian s desire for military glory
while loving the reign of Trajan. Obviously, this is partially because the former wanted to steal
glory from Tacitus father in law. Tacitus finishes with, Yet I shall find some satisfaction, even with
the unskilled and unpractised voice, in recording the servitude we once suffered and in gratefully
acknowledging the blessings we now enjoy. He understands that living under an imperial
leadership relies heavily on the individual currently in possession of power and that the outcome
can differ greatly. Although imperialism is quite terrible at times, he acknowledges that it can lead
to a variety of positive outcomes. Similarly, conquest and integration of conquered peoples is a

the Union essentially tore through the deep south and the southeastern seaboard, destroying any

absolutely decimated the South. I believe Sherman s March to the Sea was the most important
event we ve covered this trimester, because it purged the South of any supplies and destroyed their
economy. After Ulysses S. Grantwas promoted to the head of the Union Army, he appointed
William Sherman to his former post; general of the Union Army of the West. He was given the task

Applying A Definition For Science
Applying a definition for science is a difficult thing to do considering there are various perspectives
on the matter. People ranging from novelists to ecologists to journalists to environmentalists have
their definitions which each contribute its own part to the meaning. Different parts of the definition
include ecosystems, the environment, the hard sciences as well as the scientific method.
Paul Keddy is an ecologist whose primary concern is wetlands. His approach focused on the
state of these wetlands and how they are important to the Earth as well as to the people. By
incorporating facts about this specific ecosystem, he emphasizes its preservation and the
significance it holds. Wetlands offer carbon storage, flood control, maintenance of biodiversity,
fish production, and aquifer recharge as well as other services (Keddy 141). Keddy explains that
by decreasing its size, limits and restrictions are placed on these valuable services. Despite the
many amenities wetlands provide, there are still many unknown which leaves a huge dilemma
because if people aren t aware of the significance of this particular ecosystem, they won t care
much to try and fight for its conservation. Even the ones that are well known, such as the
Mississippi River Basin, which is intensively studied, is ...often treated in isolation, which misses
two important scientific opportunities: that of learning from work carried out elsewhere, and that
of sharing knowledge (Keddy 163). His science is one that

Pacemaker In Canada
There are a number of distinguished Canadian inventions through out the years. Notably, the most
significant invention in Canadian history was the creation, of the innovative artificial cardiac
pacemaker. John Hopps, who is more prominently known as the father of biomedical engineering ,
was the prodigy behind this invention. He collaborated with two other doctors, Wilfred Bigelow
and John Callaghan at the Banting Institute Toronto to introduce the first external pacemaker in
1950.
The initial model of the pacemaker monitored as well as controlled the patient s heartbeat. A
pacemaker consists of electrodes, battery and a computerized generator. The main purpose of the
pacemaker is to stabilize your heart rhythm. If there s a change in the rhythm of your heartbeat and
it is inconsistent with the normal values then the computerized generator receives a stimulus, which
in turn produces electrical signals. These electrical signals are further transmitted to the heart
through electrical wires whereby they help maintain a normal heart rhythm. ... Show more content

Thor as Portrayed in the Kenneth Branagh Movie
In this paper, I will talk about Thor as portrayed in the movie directed by Kenneth Branagh as he
may be depicted differently in other sources. Thor is the god of thunder and son of Odin, ruler of
Asgard in Norse mythology. A powerful God that was next in line for the throne of Asgard. Thor
had the power of thunder and was able to control its power with his hammer, which also allows him
to fly. Comparing Thorto Jesus, both are powerful beings. Asgard and Heaven are very similar as
it is where the Gods/God live. With great power both Thor and Jesus conquered things in their
own way. Jesus conquered sin, not by using his fists to fight Satan, but instead he was crucified
to stop Satan controls over the people. Where in Soteriology 1 payment for sin. Jesus conquered
sin by offering his body, the body of god, to repent for the people of the world s sin. Unlike
Jesus, Thor s course of action is not non violence. He comes from Asgard, a world where war was
heavily prevalent, which was the reason Thor was banished to earth. He conquered his enemies
through his hands. Though both are godly and had similar intentions Thor s course of action for his
mission was different from Jesus according to course text.
Thor is a savior figure because he saves humanity from God s themselves specifically his brother
Loki, who betrayed his family while he was banished by their father Odin. In this film Thor is your
typical hero who is powerful and strong. In the beginning Thor thought he

end to the economic miracle in Southeast Asia, Malaysia has become an exception case since it
could mitigated the turmoil s adverse effects, such as rising unemployment or the breakdown of the
political regimes. With the leadership of Mahathir Mohamad, the Malaysian government refused the
advices of IMF (International Monetary Fund) that included austerity and liberalization of capital
mobility. Instead of implementing market reform, Mahathir employed state owned financial
institutions and enterprises, for example, Petronas, to bail out troubled businesses, imposed capital
controls, and pegged Ringgit with US dollars (Khoo, 2006). As a result of... Show more content on

First, Mahathir promoted the birth and expansion of the Malay capitalist class during 1980 s via
privatizations, abandoning NEP s spirits that used state owned holding companies as a
shareholders of Malay people. Sadly, the beneficiaries from the public asset transfers were not
ordinary Malay people, but the politically connected businessman, principally the cronies of
Mahathir, Daim and Anwar (Wain, 2009: 102). The unequal access to privatized benefits led to the
widening intra ethnic inequality among Malays (Gomez and Jomo, 1997). Second, Mahathir
exploited his popular supports, especially from rural voters, as a resource to fulfill his desire of
being an authoritarian leader with the legitimacy from the institutionalized political party (Wain:
53). A case in point was the 1983 constitutional crisis, which was caused by Mahathir s attempt to
increase the autonomy of the Parliament and reduce Royal s authority to interfere in the legislative
process (Khoo, 1995: 202 209). The authoritarian status of Mahathir formally limited citizens power
to restrict the UNMO dominated government s unpopular actions. According these two situations,
Mahathir s heterodox methods, which were used against the financial crisis, might not only relates
to his visions and values of Malaysian society and economy, but also Mahathir s authority and his
cronies interests. The conditionality of IMF could dismantle the business empires of Mahathir s
networks that could lead the erosion of his authoritarian power, as he would hardly access resource

Leonardo s Notebooks
People from around the globe easily recognize the phenomenal work of Leonardo da Vinci.
Perhaps the most famous of all his work is the Mona Lisa, with an impressive six million annual
visitors. Incidentally, there is an abundance of works by Leonardo da Vinci that the majority of
people have yet to even hear about. Admittedly, these works were not created with the intent of
being seen outside the artist s studio, but rather to aid in his critical thinking process. These works
are mostly comprised of drawings. Studies for a Nativity is one such exquisitive yet commonly
unrecognizable drawing which greatly helped Leonardo da Vinciin his critical thinking process.
Studies for a Nativity is one of many drawings that can be found within Leonardo s hundreds of
notebooks. Perhaps in this way Leonardo had an advantage to past artists. To clarify, possessing
such a large quantity of notebooks was almost unheard of a century prior. This is because paper
had only recently become easier to attain. Prior to the widespread availability of paper artists were
often forced to use prepared animal skins, tablets, or they made ... Show more content on

Studies for a Nativity specifically helped him gain a better understanding of poses and gestures of
the mother and her infant (Bambach 2002). These drawings are thought to have helped prepare
him for the primary panel in his renowned altarpiece fully titled, The Virgin with the Infant Saint
John the Baptist adoring the Christ Child accompanied by an Angel ( The Virgin of the Rocks ).
Seen at lower right of the drawing are geometric constructions which represent his attempts to work
out the perspective within the composition, with respect to the spectator s vantage point
(Bambach). As mentioned earlier the ability to draw in a notebook was a privilege many artists

Buddy System Essay
34) Buddy System
Learners are buddies with another learner either slightly or more experienced. The two work
together regularly to a project which will go on display at a specific time (i.e. exhibition, science
fair.) Buddies also assist each other on homework or on checking up with each other that homework
has been completed. In the end, neither buddy can take the summative assessment until the other
buddy says the first buddy is ready. This technique improves learning because the buddies
encourage each other to succeed.
35) Field Trips
Field trips offer the opportunity for internalize material the be externalized, applied, and sometimes
evaluated. On a field trip, designed to apply learned skills, the learner is given opportunity to apply
by practice comprehension skills, conversational skills, and vocabulary skills.
Sample Field Trips: Natural Hispanic Cultural Center; Hispanic (Target Language) Markets; Target
language classrooms in other schools; a tour given in the target language (i.e. at the zoo.)
36) Guest Speakers/Guest Teachers ( Guest Teachers )
Including fellow teachers or guest speakers to teach on a specific topic regarding the target
language, or to teach on their own topic in the target language improves learning by providing
opportunity for learners to apply internalized material. Guest speakers/Guest teachers provide
variety in classroom lecture or instruction which increases learner interest level. Increasing interest

Developing the Lexical Acquistion of a Language
Acquisition of language is often a very difficult task that requires time and commitment. To learn
language one needs to focus and various aspects of language that include reading, writing, listening,
speaking, and pronunciation. Perhaps one of the most difficult and time consuming tasks that exist
in language learning is lexical acquisition. To accurately express oneself, a large lexical inventory is
required. Vocabulary learning is accomplished by many different methods; memorization and
multiple exposures are required and, in addition, one needs to learn a word s collocations and
syntactic constraints. There has been much research done that focuses on methods of teaching
vocabulary and extensive readingis one such method.
Extensive reading is a method of reading instruction where students are encouraged to read large
quantity of texts in order to promote understanding. There is also an underlying goal that involves
getting students to enjoy reading. There several aspects to extensive reading and principles have
even been given by certain researchers. In their article, Day Bamford (2002) introduced 10
principles that are related to extensive reading. These principles include: the reading material must
be comprehensible, there must be a variety of material with many topics, the students have choice
in their reading material, the students read as much as possible, the purpose of reading should be
for pleasure and general understanding, the reading should be its

Understanding And Managing Recreational Fisheries Within A...
Fishing is often seen as a recreational escape from work or daily routines, as it also meets the
basic human needs of nutrition. In the report, Illustrating the critical role of human dimensions
research for understanding and managing recreational fisheries within a social ecological system
framework, by Hunt et al., we look more closely at the management of recreational fisheries in
relation to the fishers themselves, and how it may influence the outcomes of the fisheries
ecological systems. In turn we see critical connections between the ecological and social systems,
which give us great feedback on a recreational fisher s actions and how we can better manage those
actions. In the report they focus on the coupling of fisher s behaviors... Show more content on

These give the researchers better information in regards to the connections and feedback between
the natural and human components of the recreational fisheries system management. In terms of
recreational fishing, using human dimensions research provides information about a fisher s
preference, behavior, attitude and wellbeing when it comes to the support of fisheries management.
Taking an in depth study of the fisher s views and opinions on policy and management issues can
better illustrate how fishers make choices for pursuing fishing among sites that may differ greatly
in their regulations and many other attributes. Being able to understand a fisher s evaluations on a
wide scale will better help human dimensions researchers interpret and predict their future
behaviors, which has become an important area of enquiry. Before, human dimensions researchers
studied a small scale of fishers and did not account for diversity; the new studies being conducted
do the exact opposite. L.M. Hunt et al. look at the fisher s evaluations in a much broader aspect. By
taking a deeper study into understanding fishers and what prompts their actions will better allow
human dimension researchers and biologists to make connections between the fishers and fish,
whereas they would otherwise solely focus on the fisheries biology. The

Slave Girl Research Paper
Linda s account of the incidents she encountered during her 27 years as a slave shows us the
harsh, terrible, fearful conditions in which slaves lived. Especially, the life endured by slave girls.
In fact, these girls grew up side by side with the children of their masters, but at age fifteen they
would become subjects of the morbid attention of their masters. If these girls were blessed with
beauty, then they would endured even harder situations due to the attraction that their masters had
towards them. Linda recalls how she used to play with her master s daughter until she turned
fifteen. After that, everything changed drastically because her master started to have sexual
attraction towards her. However, already at a young age, slave girls... Show more content on

Another disturbing fact was that slave girls, who were abused by their masters, were not
allowed to fall in love. In fact, Linda described as she fell in love with a free black man, who was
an intelligent and religious man, who actually wanted to buy her in order to save her and marry
her. However, he had no power over the decision of the master, and if the master did not consent
on selling his slave girl, then there was nothing he, as a black man, could do. And even if he ended
up marrying her, he would not be able to protect her from the master, and their children would have
to follow the condition of the mother in slavery. Sadly, this shows us how most slave girls had no
way out of the conditions of abuse they lived in. Linda decided to describe what she went through
because she wanted the North to be aware of the terrible situations endured by slaves in the South.
In fact, slaves who escaped to the North would too often be picked up by northerners who would

Theories Of Aging
Why do people age? Over the ages people have wondered how do we age? Do our genes determine
our lifespan? Does damage to our DNA affect how long we live? There have been many theories
answering that one question and few are right and some still have to be proven. People aging isn t
magical, aging is scientific. Chemistry is behind aging.
The first theory is that we live as long as we do because our genes determine how long we live.
This means that we have a gene that tells our body how long we have to live. If this is true we
could change that gene and live longer than predetermined. For example that gene is a timer that is
counting down, imagine you could add time to the timer prolonging the time left. Different animals
have proven this theory to work. A type of worm can to 300 years old, which could support the first
theory that genes determine your lifespan.
The second theory is that over time our body and DNA receive damage until the point when our
body will not function anymore. This theory states that how long we live ... Show more content on

Literary Devices Used in Albert Camus The Plague
A book of horrors, fear and death. The Plague is a book by Albert Camus which weaves these
emotions and events into one suspenseful tale. Each paragraph and section is written and
structured in such a way as to give the reader insight into the feelings of the victims of the plague,
and to show somewhat of a theme. The passage from section 4, part 4, line number 1 to line
number 35 gives us a glimpse of the melancholy of the people of Oranto their dead loved ones to
the extent that they do not attend All Souls Day, for they were thinking of them too much as it was.

Diction is seen to be used greatly in conveying the suitability of the town for All Souls Day.
Pathetic Fallacy is also used to portray the message by Albert Camus. Also, the cool wind , big
clouds...trailing shadows , glossy and oiled clothing give the impression of a cool, damp
shadowy day, with clothing mimicking this, portraying the psychology of the people of Oran
when they are in melancholy for their loved ones. However, from around the third paragraph
onwards, a turning point is seen. As previously suggested, it was a suitable time of the year for
mourning and All Souls Day, but ironically this did not occur. Albert Camus devices and literary
intelligence make it very clear that the melancholy of the town was to the extent that All Souls
Day was neglected. It is seen by a turning point, But these familiar aspects of All Souls Day could
not make us forget that the cemeteries were left unvisited . This turning point suggests that All
Souls Day did not occur as it was previously suggested through earlier devices, mainly due to the
already prevalent grief towards the dead. Albert Camus metaphors clearly clarifies this, they (the
dead) were no longer the forsaken to whom...you came to justify yourself and they (the dead) were
intruders whom you would rather forget .Also, these metaphors give insight to the attitude of the
townspeople towards their dead, that the extended period of thinking and grief over their dead has
caused them not

Alzheimer s A Progressive Neurodegenerative Disease
Alzheimer s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that steadily destroys the memory and other
important mental functions such as social skills, intellect, and memory (4).
Although the exact cause of Alzheimer s is not known, most cases of the disease are caused by
genetic mutations passed from the parent to the child (1). There are several genes associated
with Alzheimer s one in particular is apolipoprotein E (1). The presence of one or more of these
genes does not necessarily mean that the person will develop Alzheimer s however; it does
increase the risk (5). Several environmental factors and lifestyle choices responsible for damage to
blood vessels in the brain also contribute to the development of the disease (4). These factors
include, past trauma to the head, cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, or a poor diet (4).
Cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer s disease occurs when synapses, which transmit
information from one neuron to another, become interrupted and communication ceases (7). The
result is death of the nerve cell within the brain, also referred to as synaptic failure (6). Synaptic
failure takes place when amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles develop (7). Amyloid plaque
develops from amyloid beta proteins, which are released by enzymes from the amyloid precursor
protein that is located on the surface of the neuron (7). The amyloid beta proteins are normally
cleared within the body once they are released however, in

in Washington, D.C., debated whether or not African American soldiers should be used in armored

Case Study Vicarious Trauma
Brief Description Vicarious Trauma, Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and Resiliency
The demands of today s healthcare providers and mental health workers, has become challenging
due to the complexities and mass influx of mental health disorders. Although some of these
problems may seem small when compare to trauma and crisis. The population affected by trauma
and crisis can be challenging to those that work directly with this population. Conversely, many
workers of this population suffer from burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. Burnout
is defined as of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that produces a lack of interest in
everyday activities, and work related constant stress and trauma. Compassion fatigue is when
workers no longer have feelings of compassion, due to exhibiting on going empathy (James
Gilliland, 2017). Counselors that suffer from Vicarious Trauma, is when human service workers
are affected by trauma responses in caring for these individuals, and they start to feel traumatized
concordling. Lastly the feeling of Resiliency when counselors, physicians, social workers, can go
back to work without any negative feelings of burnout, fatigue or feeling traumatized. In the
following case study Anna is experiencing nightmares about being sexually assaulted this is an
example of vicarious trauma, she is feeling depressed, and is taking on a workload more than ...

However, in many cases, counselors get interwoven into their clients and their work loads, and
neglect to take care of themselves. According to The Code of Ethics of the ACA (2014),
counselors must engage in self care activities to maintain and promote their emotional, physical,
mental and spiritual well being and to best meet their professional responsibilities (ACA Code of

The Gods And Winds In Norse Mythology
Njord norse god. Njord is the god of sea and winds in Norse mythology. He is the father if Freyr
and Freya and the leader in vanir. While Gods were celebrating their slaying of the giant Thjazi
and the return of the youth giving goddess Idun to the halls, an unannounced visitor stormed into
their merrymaking. This was the giantess Skadi who arrived with her armor and weapons to
avenge the death of her father Thjazi. The gods were patient with her to accep reparations instead
of seeking vengance. These reparations came with three parts. First, Odin took Thjazis eyes and
cast them into the night sky where they became 2 stars. Second, the gods were to make Skadis
laugh. After

Photography Observation Papers
On March 26, 2014 I visited a one artist photography exhibition held in the Thomas F. Riley

Kevin Warn. The type of work on display varied from black and white and color prints to very
large prints, 16x20 or larger and smaller 8x10 prints. Most of the photos were printed on canvas and
the others did not mention the process that was used. Photographer Kevin Warn is a Wedding and

I liked the composition of this photo. It was taken from underneath, looking down the length of the
pier. What I loved about this photo is that the pillars closest to the lens are much distorted and the
Pacific Ocean has soothing yet eerie radium like glow to it. It s a very strange photograph and I
absolutely loved it. The second photo was titled The Coffee Shop. Photo is a black and white print
taken in Italy 2010. It is of a group of men (I think) and they appear to be walking in the middle of
a road or alley away from the camera. What really liked about this photo is the graininess of it and
the contrast of the snow covered street and the dark clothing that the men are wearing. What I
loved about this photo is that I could feel the bone chilling cold, like I was actually there.
The last photo was another black and white print. This photo was titled Canals and was taken in
Amsterdam 2010. This photo seems to be taken from a bridge crossing over the canal or maybe
from some sort of vessel on the canal. I m just taking guesses; I am not familiar with Amsterdam. I
liked this photo because I can see all the way down this canal and there is so much detail in both
the shadows and the highlights of the photo, just

There are several types of APNs including Primary Health NPs, Pediatric NPs and Adult NPs (Wilson, 2016; DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010). The following assignment intends to explore a particular advance practice nurse (ANP) role in the current Canadian health care system. Melissa Harriott, BScN, RN, MN, NP has been interviewed to describe her advance practice role, philosophy of health, core competencies, and the nature of her practice as an ANP at the University of Alberta Hospital. The clinic has been very successful in managing patients IBD symptoms in a timely manner while preventing unnecessary emergency department visits, and alleviating anxiety and depression associated with the unpredictable flares, ineffective pharmacological management and potential development of negative self image. Kurina, Goldacre and Gill (2001) stated that over 60 percent of the studied population with IBD had anxiety and/or depression. Poor symptom management, ineffective coping mechanisms, lack of support, and negate self imaging, are the main risk factors associated with the anxiety in the population with IBD (Bannaga Selinger, 2015). Melissa concurred with the above statement and indicated that the interprofessional collaborative treatment approach at the clinic offers short wait times, multidimensional support and long term follow up for the patients. She also stated that her role includes all categories of core competencies of an NP (Canadian Nurses Association [CNA], 2010; Wilson, 2016). The NP assesses patients at the clinic, based on the laboratory work and biopsies taken during a colonoscopy, she confirms whether the patient has IBD and specifies the type. In cases with previously known condition she assesses the intensity of the flare and decides upon further actions, which include medication initiation /adjustment, referral to the dietitian, referral to additional diagnostic imaging, and collaboration with the IBD nurse for the further ... • 4. Boundaries In The United States And The Galapagos Islands A constructive boundary is a boundary that seems to add to the surface of the earth, one example would be mountains. These plate boundaries include continental oceanic boundary, oceanic oceanic boundary, and continental continental boundary. For continental oceanic convergent the oceanic sinks under the lighter continental plate and then melts into magma, this magma rises through the crust to form volcanoes. An oceanic oceanic convergent boundarycreates volcanic island chain, by the subduction and melting of one plate then magma rises through the crust to form islands and volcanoes. A continental continental convergent boundary is where two continental plates collide and neither of them are dense enough to subdue so the wrinkle up to form mountains. One example of this is the Himalayan mountains which are formed from the Indian continental plate pushing into the Eurasian plate causing the to ruffle up into mountains. One great example of this the Galapagos Islands which is a chain of volcanic islands located off the coast of Ecuador. Theses islands are formed from two oceanic plates pushing against one another. The two plates that formed this island chain are the South American and Pacific plates, the Pacific plate subdue underneath the South American plate and melted, this magma rose to ... • 6. Francisco Goya May 3 1808 Francisco Goya s The Executions of May 3, 1808, is a remarkably interesting piece of art. This piece represents a protest against the Napoleon Occupational Army in Madrid. There are various visual elements and design principles in the art, which will be covered. The beginning of this ILO will contain the visual elements first, followed by the design principles, and what they mean in the artwork. In Goya s art, we can see the primary, visual element of lines. Lines represent motion, dynamics, and direction. The soldiers are aiming their rifles at a group of prisoners waiting for execution. Horizontal lines indicate a peaceful scene, however, in this case, it would be appropriate to say they mean a sense of destruction or death, as the title of the art depicts. As the view follows the direction of the lines, the viewer is immediately drawn to the man with the bright white shirt. The values of the piece are relatively dark and morbid, however, when we look at the man with the white shirt, we can see the opposite effect of the bright white shirt. Going back to the element of lines, once the viewer looks at the man with the white shirt, you can see his hands are in a diagonal position. These diagonal lines represent dynamics and tension. The pressure comes from the imminent execution of that man. When we talk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We must also deduce whether the balance is symmetrical or asymmetrical. • 8. Review Of The Ministry Of Music On The Black Church Introduction and Thesis Music is an inseparable element of Black life and therefore Black worship. The Black Church understands worship to be a communal act of adoration towards God that may involve praise or petition via song, dance, music (use of instruments), recitation, meditation, chanting, and or prayer (Mason, 2016). According to James Cone, Black music is unity music because it unites...the hope and despair;...and it moves the people towards the direction of total liberation; and confronts the individual with the truth of black existence and affirms that black being is possible only in the communal context (p. 5). It is with this understanding that black people worship through music and without this understanding worship and music are diluted. J. Wendell Mapson articulated this idea in his book, The Ministry of Music in the Black Church, when he noted that purpose of worship is forfeited when singing music that has no relationship to everyday life, and the worshipper becomes disconnected from the way music and worship have historically served blacks (41). In this same vain, James Cone asserted that Black music is theological because it reveals how God moves people towards unity and self determination. Such unity and self determination was evidenced in 1801, when Richard Allen, founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church published a hymnal by and for African Americans (Costen, 81). Hymns have served black people in their everyday lives and had and have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The problems are as well by no means new, as a range of theories and research efforts have historically sought to clarify why crime occurs, just as there remain concerns as to how best to treat and/or punish offenders. Within this subject, then, specific theories dominate study, and various scientists, psychologists and sociologists tend to support biological, psychological, or sociological explanations for criminality. Each theory, not unexpectedly, has value, as each approach addresses known factors of the nature of crimeand those who manifest the behavior. Nonetheless, each theory is also inextricably related to the others, if only because human conduct and existence are invariably multifaceted. This in itself, however, creates dispute, as varying studies and opinions alternately support biological, sociological, and psychological forces as most responsible for criminality. Most arguments for each theory make strong cases, yet it is also arguable that each is in fact exponentially related to the others, if to differing levels of impact. He is more so critical of conquests attempted by people he does not favor. He favored the Trajanic regime that he was serving under while criticized Domitian s reign undoubtedly. Roman imperialism can be a two headed beast, one bringing joy and prosperity while the other rains down fire and brimstone. However, Tacitus could be viewed as hypocritical considering he condemned Domitian s desire for military glory while loving the reign of Trajan. Obviously, this is partially because the former wanted to steal glory from Tacitus father in law. People ranging from novelists to ecologists to journalists to environmentalists have their definitions which each contribute its own part to the meaning. Different parts of the definition include ecosystems, the environment, the hard sciences as well as the scientific method. Paul Keddy is an ecologist whose primary concern is wetlands. His approach focused on the state of these wetlands and how they are important to the Earth as well as to the people. By incorporating facts about this specific ecosystem, he emphasizes its preservation and the significance it holds. Wetlands offer carbon storage, flood control, maintenance of biodiversity, fish production, and aquifer recharge as well as other services (Keddy 141). Keddy explains that by decreasing its size, limits and restrictions are placed on these valuable services. Despite the many amenities wetlands provide, there are still many unknown which leaves a huge dilemma because if people aren t aware of the significance of this particular ecosystem, they won t care much to try and fight for its conservation. Even the ones that are well known, such as the Mississippi River Basin, which is intensively studied, is ...often treated in isolation, which misses two important scientific opportunities: that of learning from work carried out elsewhere, and that of sharing knowledge (Keddy 163). Notably, the most significant invention in Canadian history was the creation, of the innovative artificial cardiac pacemaker. John Hopps, who is more prominently known as the father of biomedical engineering , was the prodigy behind this invention. He collaborated with two other doctors, Wilfred Bigelow and John Callaghan at the Banting Institute Toronto to introduce the first external pacemaker in 1950. The initial model of the pacemaker monitored as well as controlled the patient s heartbeat. A pacemaker consists of electrodes, battery and a computerized generator. The main purpose of the pacemaker is to stabilize your heart rhythm. If there s a change in the rhythm of your heartbeat and it is inconsistent with the normal values then the computerized generator receives a stimulus, which in turn produces electrical signals. Thor is the god of thunder and son of Odin, ruler of Asgard in Norse mythology. A powerful God that was next in line for the throne of Asgard. Thor had the power of thunder and was able to control its power with his hammer, which also allows him to fly. Comparing Thorto Jesus, both are powerful beings. Asgard and Heaven are very similar as it is where the Gods/God live. With great power both Thor and Jesus conquered things in their own way. Jesus conquered sin, not by using his fists to fight Satan, but instead he was crucified to stop Satan controls over the people. Where in Soteriology 1 payment for sin. Jesus conquered sin by offering his body, the body of god, to repent for the people of the world s sin. Unlike Jesus, Thor s course of action is not non violence. He comes from Asgard, a world where war was heavily prevalent, which was the reason Thor was banished to earth. He conquered his enemies through his hands. Though both are godly and had similar intentions Thor s course of action for his mission was different from Jesus according to course text. Sadly, the beneficiaries from the public asset transfers were not ordinary Malay people, but the politically connected businessman, principally the cronies of Mahathir, Daim and Anwar (Wain, 2009: 102). The unequal access to privatized benefits led to the widening intra ethnic inequality among Malays (Gomez and Jomo, 1997). Second, Mahathir exploited his popular supports, especially from rural voters, as a resource to fulfill his desire of being an authoritarian leader with the legitimacy from the institutionalized political party (Wain: 53). A case in point was the 1983 constitutional crisis, which was caused by Mahathir s attempt to increase the autonomy of the Parliament and reduce Royal s authority to interfere in the legislative process (Khoo, 1995: 202 209). The authoritarian status of Mahathir formally limited citizens power to restrict the UNMO dominated government s unpopular actions. You say could because the viewer is truly getting an understanding of the pieces. In that feelings are being brought out because of a piece, feelings that the viewer had no idea art could bring out. Now if we were to relate this to Durkin s pieces they are worlds apart . Overwhelming joy, is simply all the viewer can feel from her pieces. • 33. Theories Of Aging Why do people age? Over the ages people have wondered how do we age? Do our genes determine our lifespan? Does damage to our DNA affect how long we live? There have been many theories answering that one question and few are right and some still have to be proven. People aging isn t magical, aging is scientific. Chemistry is behind aging. The first theory is that we live as long as we do because our genes determine how long we live. This means that we have a gene that tells our body how long we have to live. If this is true we could change that gene and live longer than predetermined. For example that gene is a timer that is counting down, imagine you could add time to the timer prolonging the time left. Different animals have proven this theory to work. A type of worm can to 300 years old, which could support the first theory that genes determine your lifespan. The second theory is that over time our body and DNA receive damage until the point when our body will not function anymore. This theory states that how long we live ... Each paragraph and section is written and structured in such a way as to give the reader insight into the feelings of the victims of the plague, and to show somewhat of a theme. The passage from section 4, part 4, line number 1 to line number 35 gives us a glimpse of the melancholy of the people of Oranto their dead loved ones to the extent that they do not attend All Souls Day, for they were thinking of them too much as it was. Pathetic Fallacy is also used to portray the message by Albert Camus. Also, the cool wind , big clouds...trailing shadows , glossy and oiled clothing give the impression of a cool, damp shadowy day, with clothing mimicking this, portraying the psychology of the people of Oran when they are in melancholy for their loved ones. However, from around the third paragraph onwards, a turning point is seen. As previously suggested, it was a suitable time of the year for mourning and All Souls Day, but ironically this did not occur. Albert Camus devices and literary intelligence make it very clear that the melancholy of the town was to the extent that All Souls Day was neglected. It is seen by a turning point, But these familiar aspects of All Souls Day could not make us forget that the cemeteries were left unvisited . This turning point suggests that All Souls Day did not occur as it was previously suggested through earlier devices, mainly due to the already prevalent grief towards the dead. Albert Camus metaphors clearly clarifies this, they (the dead) were no longer the forsaken to whom...you came to justify yourself and they (the dead) were intruders whom you would rather forget .Also, these metaphors give insight to the attitude of the townspeople towards their dead, that the extended period of thinking and grief over their dead has caused them not ... Alzheimer s A Progressive Neurodegenerative Disease Alzheimer s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that steadily destroys the memory and other important mental functions such as social skills, intellect, and memory (4). Although the exact cause of Alzheimer s is not known, most cases of the disease are caused by genetic mutations passed from the parent to the child (1). There are several genes associated with Alzheimer s one in particular is apolipoprotein E (1). The presence of one or more of these genes does not necessarily mean that the person will develop Alzheimer s however; it does increase the risk (5). Several environmental factors and lifestyle choices responsible for damage to blood vessels in the brain also contribute to the development of the disease (4). These factors include, past trauma to the head, cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, or a poor diet (4). Cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer s disease occurs when synapses, which transmit information from one neuron to another, become interrupted and communication ceases (7). The result is death of the nerve cell within the brain, also referred to as synaptic failure (6). Synaptic failure takes place when amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles develop (7). Amyloid plaque develops from amyloid beta proteins, which are released by enzymes from the amyloid precursor protein that is located on the surface of the neuron (7).
