An Examination of Capital Punishment Essay
Capital punishment also known as the death penalty is when a person who has been convicted by
the court of law can be sentenced to death. This occurs when a defendant is being tried with a
criminal offense; such as the conscious murder of a peace officer on active duty, or a federal agent.
This punishment has been a constant debate throughout our history. People claim it to be unjust or
a cruel and unusual punishment, while another part of our population claims that this consequence
is not used enough. Capital punishmentis not a problem only here but around the world as well;
there is constant arguing and debates, here and around the globe, about the moralities of this
punishment. This has been an unsurpassable struggle from the... Show more content on

In fact, Parliament had voted to abolish capital punishment in 1965, it was viewed as the
emblematic of the 1960s, part of a shift towards a more permissive society (Homans,2008,43).
Although they outlawed capital punishment they did not change the public opinion on the matter.
In fact the majority of the public happened to be opposed to the abolition. From 1861 onwards there
were only four crimes that could be charged with capital punishment it includes: murder, treason,
piracy with violence, and arson in government dockyards and arsenals (Holmans,2008,43).
Although, the only one which was being actively enforced and charged with the death penalty
was, murder. The only reason it was really enforced for murders is because judges believed that
murders lost their right to live due to the fact they took a life. Because every murderer is at times
very different the public opinion took note of it therefore many murders were pardoned by the
Home Secretary and given the royal privilege of mercy. This did not change until 1957.
Parliamentary abolitionists were supported by groups such as the Howard League for Penal
Reform and the National Council for the Abolition of the Death Penalty or NCADP. It had been
established in 1923. A woman established this organization because of the murder of her husband
by her lover. During the 1920s people began to question the deterrent effect of the death penalty in
the many cases viewing them on a case by case basis trying to

Throughtout History, Illustrations and Paintings Have...
Throughout history, notorious and creative people have used illustrations and paintings to play on
people s emotions. One of the most famous examples of this was during World War I, with the use
of propaganda posters to increase nationalistic feelings towards one s own country. Through the
mass production and creativity of the posters, many young men enlisted in their nation s army to
protect and support their country throughout the war.
This first poster (see Figure 1) was used by Germans during World War I; on the bottom part of the
poster there German writing which translates out to, It is essential that the last blows achieve
victory! Subscribe to the War Loan! This is simply saying that, in order to finish off the war, you

This represents that the very well dressed man is hiding in the shadows from the war; that he is
trying to hide himself from the war altogether. On the other side of the window, there is light
outside that has several lines of marching soldiers, with the American Flag flying right above
them. Having the American flag flying above these soldiers, gives the sense that they are heroes
for going to fight this war. Having the well dressed man inside and the marching soldiers outside
shows the viewer that the men who stay home and tremble in fear of the war do not deserve glory.
On the other hand the soldiers that are outside deserve glory.
Finally this last poster (see Figure 3) was used for English propaganda. In the background there is a
burning building and two lines of soldiers. The lines of soldiers could represent two things: one
being that the British army is much smaller compared to Germany s. The second is that in the line
of soldiers, there appears to be a few empty spots which could correlate to the question at the top
of the poster that asks, WHO S ABSENT? and then asks another question at the bottom which is, Is
it you? These two questions are directed at British men (usually between the ages of 18

The Deviant Globalization From Gilman s Perspective
Globalization is a developmental process of transnational integration, which mainly reflects on the
economic aspect. The moral standards and legal systems in different regions are changing
differently along with the progress of the society. However, when mentioned globalization, people
mostly refer to mainstream globalization. Deviant globalization the rebarbative dark side of the
global economyis ignored constantly. There is a distinctive evaluation from Nils Gilman deviant
globalization is a form of development. As Harvey (2006) said that human, finance, goods, ideas
and services are considered increasingly as the important factors in the development of
globalization. Therefore, it could be discussed from economic, political and social perspectives to
measure the deviant globalization. This essay aims to analyse the deviant globalization from
Gilman s perspective. Defining the deviant globalization and analysing how the deviant
globalization forms firstly, and using examples to explain the reasons of development of these three
perspectives.
As Gilman, et al (2013) written that deviant globalization refers to meet the demand for illicit or
immoral commodities and services which are provided by other different places with disparate
moral standards or inefficient governments. The range of deviant globalization is wide, for
example, money laundering, unlawful sexual trafficking as well as organ trade and so forth.
Moreover, deviant globalization and mainstream

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Studying Abroad
In the last century, the contemporary world has become more globalized than before. There has
been a worldwide integration in different fields of life such as economic, political, business, trade,
financial, and educational fields. In order to deal with this globalization, students, in all over the
world, should be opened to other countries and cultures which exceed the boundary of their nation.
Studying abroad, which means leaving the homeland country and pursuing the educationin another
country ( Dervin Byron, 2008), could be one of the ways for the students to explore this globalized
world. It has been mentioned by the Institute of International Education (IIE) that in the last two
decades the number of students studying abroad worldwide has tripled (Lieb, 2016). Should
students be more encouraged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their point of view is that it is hard for these students to be responsible for arranging money for
university s tuition fees and for their living expenses. Although that is correct to a certain extent,
there are some weaknesses in this view. Firstly, students who have the intention to study abroad
would put a prior financial plan with their parents. That helps them to know their budget, and to
spend money according to it. Also, if there are some unexpected circumstances happen, they will be
assisted financially by their parents. Secondly, some universities and schools provide full or partial
scholarships for the international students (Cadd,2012). For example, University of British
Columbia offers scholarships and other forms of financial aid for international students. Thirdly,
many students can work part time jobs while studying to earn money. That will help them to cover
their personal expenses (Tyner,2013). There are many jobs that these students can work such as
working in a restaurant, club, library, or shop

Development Of Modernism After World War II
After the Second World War, attention immediately turned towards reconstructing a better world.
Like the earlier world war, it destroyed a previous social and economic order (Curtis, 1996). Many
of tall buildings were built to meet the large number of human requirements. Modernism was
rapidly developed at that time. This essay aims to explore the development of modernism after
World War II by compare and contrast the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartment
in
German and Society Hill Towers in the USA. It first discusses the similarity of the two chosen
buildings. Then explains the difference of design, which includes surroundings, building form and
the apartment layout. Furthermore, explore the factors lead to those difference which are policy,
the influence of the other architects and architects own belief.
As cities were destroyed during the war, there were increasing needs of buildings especially the
apartments and houses. These two chosen projects have the same functions as apartments. They
were both high rise buildings, which were built as a part of the redevelopment of the city after the
war. The Hansaviertel Apartment was built in 1957, Berlin, Germany and designed by Alar Aalto.
The other one is named Society Hill Towers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I.M Pei is the designer
for this apartment. The two apartments were built at the same time but contrast greatly in term of
design, which can represent the several kinds of development of modernism after the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plea Bargaining
Plea bargaining is when the prosecutor and defendant make an arrangement in which the
defendant pleads guilty to a lesser charge. In hopes with the Judge being lenient with their
sentence. Many criminal cases are based off of plea bargaining, it s a negotiation process where
the defendant and the prosecutor discuss what charges they will be accounted for if not all.
Sometimes it may lead to a reduced sentence, which also saves the time of everyone going through
a trial and having to go through the process of trying to solve a case. The judgecan not be there
through the discussion of the pleabargain, and nor does a plea bargain take place in a court room.
Plea bargaining is more of a private situation with just the prosecutor and defendant. It also has it s
advantages and disadvantages. Most times plea bargaining becomes controversial, and It does get
heated because no one wants to sit in prison. A crimeis a crime and the person who commits the
crime has to face the consequences of his/her actions. Plea Bargaining just makes things a little
more less complicated then what it needs to be for a defendant and the prosecutor.
As mentioned earlier, plea bargaining has it s advantages and disadvantages. The most obvious
advantage would be receiving a shorter sentence, and less chargers on ones record. A disadvantage
would be that either way you still have to do time in prison. Accepting a plea bargain is not easy at
all, everything will depend on things such as your criminal

The Use Of Satire And Humor Is A Vital Function Of Our...
Satire and Humor is a Vital Function of our Society Humor and satire is an entertaining and
extremely effective method for highlighting social ideologies, challenging a governmental system
or an organization, exposing injustice, and encouraging positive change in perspective. In his book,
Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton asserts that humorists are a vital part of society as they are always
successful in communicating, conveying, and delivering their message or idea to the public and the
community. Humorists and satirists have demonstrated their vital role in inspiring freedom of
speech and thought, which motivates progressive changes, in political election campaigns hosted
on TV almost daily, and in Mark Twain s satire of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Comedians occasionally and intentionally use offensive and insulting comments to get their
message across, however, these statements normally include protected opinions and beliefs about
certain issues and global topics. By orally speaking or writing their ideas and beliefs, satirists and
comedians act as an example for the public to use their freedom of speech and... Show more content

All you need is focus on your mind while learning how to use swaddle blankets, especially when
doing the wrapping.
Remember to keep it lovely using your soft hands. With time you and the young one will be on the
same page when it comes to sleep time.
Step 1
Get at this stage a warm and clean blanket that won t slough the little one nor be too tight. Neither
should it be too hot but simply comfortable for an infant.
Place your blanket on a flat and clean soft surface and fold it to take the shape of the triangle from
one of its corners.
Proceed to place the baby at the center slowly while keeping the shoulders just below the fold.
The neck should be along the top edge. Remember; avoid leaving any part of the blanket touching
the baby s cheek. The baby might mistake this for a breast at some point arousing a rooting reflex.
You don t want the little one start feeling uncomfortable and start crying as to why he or she isn t
being fed anyway.

Compare And Contrast My Mother In Milan And Italy
Flashback Five years ago, I decided to take a vacation to visit my mother in Milan, Italy. I thought
the mother I once knew would always be but I was wrong. People change over the years and now,
I believe we change every day. We may not change dramatically but it s the smallest details and
characteristics that make up a personality. Familymatter, financial problems and entertainment were
things I encountered in my trip. Family matters was a problem for me because I haven t seen my
motherin years. I really thought she was going to be the same sweet, caring, and loving mother
she once was. After three days of my arrival, my mother began arguing and screaming at me for
no reason but I tried not to talk back to her since I m a short tempered kind of person. I decided
to ignore what she said but that only made things worse for me. It reached to the point that I
decided to stay with my older cousin because I couldn t stand her yelling at me anymore.

Project Of Moral Perfection Benjamin Franklin
Franklin s ideas expressed through the Project of Moral Perfection supports the views of reason and
self improvement that s connected to the Enlightenment, for one of Benjamin Franklin s main
points includes self efficacy. Enlightenment intellectuals believed that rational thought could lead to
human improvement and was the most valid mode of thinking. They also saw the ability to reason
as the most valuable human capacity as well. For, reason could help humans break free from
ignorance and irrationality, and learning to think reasonably could teach one to act better. In his
autobiography, Franklin does exactly this by aiming to become a better person, morally. He
planned to achieve moral perfection by breaking bad habits and learning

Numbers, simple lines connected to each other in different ways. Yet these simple
configurations of lines have created the basis for all living things. Measurements of any kind
require the use of these mere human constructs. The numbers 185463 are no different: they re
just numbers. However, humans are able to understand them in so many different ways. The
two most important numbers 1 and 8; 18 proves itself to be a multiple of the other two pairs of
digits. For example, 18 goes into 54, which is the combination of the second digits in the
number. The last two digits, 36, are also divisible by 18 which is the inverse of the third digit
pairing in the series. In addition 18 is divisible by 9, which is also a characteristic of the other
two terms. It can also be shown that every sequential pair of digits add up to 9. It is more clearly

The term African diaspora describes the time period between 1511 and 1888 when a great

Charles Dickens Little Women
So many times, people have attempted to live up to the life of a fictional character. Sometimes
this is through books or movies or any other sort of story. The main character is often the one that
people most like to look up to. But quite often, this character is not someone who can ever be
imitated. Hundreds of years ago, authors recorded stories that centered around a central character
who was too good to be true, and often, perfect. Perfection, as humans well know, cannot ever be
achieved. Some during the time found this troubling. One such person was Louisa May Alcott.
Growing up, she was a tomboy with a short temper and unconventional attitudes toward society. The
lifestyle of her family greatly enhanced that different and non conformist personality that she
possessed. Her personality can be seen within the revolutionary character of Josephine Jo March in
her classic novel, Little Women.
Background
Alcott s father, Amos Bronson Alcott, was an itinerant philosopher. He taught his daughters to
learn all they could and question everything. Like Emerson and Thoreau, Bronson Alcott
belonged to a group of idealistic thinkers called the New England Transcendentalists (Cary, 1993,
p. 14). He was married to a woman who had very strong feminist views for the time. The
Transcendentalists were leaders in the fight for women s rights and the abolition of slavery (p.

Iraq had not done this . The article suggests that Blair could ve argued that he did it because of 9

outcome: The panel initially divides evenly. After a stormy two hour meeting with Alastair

Blair did have Just Cause . The third on the list is Right Intentions meaning that there was nothing

The panel members are on record as believing that the aim of any war must be the achievement of
peace and of the just cause not revenge, the desire for plunder or the suffering of destruction of the

prove self intentions he had to have the right intentions. Likely outcome: In the absence of any
evidence of self interested motives, the panel would probably vote that Tony Blair must ve had the
right intentions . The fourth on the list is Proportionality meaning the good had to outweigh the
bad. Some of the Aquinas panelists have claimed that for any war to be just, the anticipated good

One of the biggest issues that in order to look at changes that need to be done and be able to

Essay International Adoption
International Adoption
The necessity of adoption in the world is astounding. Currently, there is an estimated 143 million
orphans worldwide (Wingert, vol.151). As of 2007, there were 513,000 children living in foster care
within the United States alone (Rousseau 21:14).International adoption in the United States was
jumpstarted post World War II as a way of helping those children who were left homeless, after war
had taken their parents. Although there are thousands of healthy children awaiting adoption in the
United States, several American couples still turn to foreign adoption when seeking potential
children. Americans often fail to realize the need for intervention within their own country and their
duty to take care of domestic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to this sense of subordination women in poor countries [feel as if] they and their children
serve as commodities for privileged Western people ( qtd. in Hollingsworth 48:209). A sense of
vulnerability leads several women in developing countries to believe that they have to give their
children up to wealthy Americans because of the high status of the American people. The
implementation of acts such as manipulating illiterate mothers, infants taken by force, and the
paying of young girls to have children are just a few ways that the naГЇve are taken advantage of
(Hollingsworth 48:209). When Americans adopt children that were gained through these unjust
acts, it is as if Americans are supporting the injustice, regardless of their previous knowledge of the
existence of such situations (Hollingsworth 48:209). By stopping international adoption, these acts
of injustice would not be able to continue and families would not face exploitation. Not only are
families exploited but also the children involved. In poor countries, disabled children face
discrimination along with older children. These children are often forgotten about, since the foreign
adoption of these children does not bring enough money to corrupted governments (Wingert,
vol.151). Gender discrimination is also taking place. Hollingsworth uses statistics to show this
gender discrimination since in 1997, seventy eight percent of the children

Everything You Need to Know about Stars
A star is a sparkling bundle of gas bound by gravity into a solitary object and is fueled by atomic
combination at the center. There are trillions of stars in our universe and all are distinctive and
extraordinary. Their mass, color, shape makes them all distinctive but mass is the only thing that
makes them unique. There are numerous phases of stars life including main sequencestars, red
giants, white dwarfs, neutron stars, and dark holes. All stars additionally have a lot of varieties in
each one phase of life. The life of a starstarts in a cloud, an incredible gathering of gas and dust.
When enough mass has aggregated into a solitary item, gravity compels the mass to crumple into
the middle. Because of weight and rubbing, the center gets so hot that it starts atomic combination
and a protostar is made.
HR Diagram
The age and the mass of stars enlighten everything concerning a stars physical properties and
situation into each of the classifications. The Hertzsprung Russell chart (HR Diagram) diagrams
stars glows over the stars phantom class. Radiance portrays how splendid the star is (I, II, III, IV,
V); ghastly class depicts its temperature (O, B, A, F, G, K, M). This chart is the most ideal
approach to classify stars.
Protostar
A protostar is structured in the beginnings of a star. The protostar s gravity is answerable for
making stars thick. As the gravity of the protostar builds so does the compression of mass. As the
thickness expanded so does the temperature. In

American Freedom Today
Abraham Lincoln once said, Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have
the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them
better. This is a most valuable a most sacred right a right, which we hope and believe, is to

However, American freedom is not what it used to be. America will never be destroyed from the

Discuss Strategies That Aid In Reading Comprehension
Chapters 6 through 9 discuss strategies that aid in comprehension. These chapters dive deeper into
strategies that will help a reader s comprehension while thoroughly explaining strategies that should
be implemented in a classroom. One main point is that readers should follow their thinking tracks
and explore their thinking and be able to notice when they are straying away from the meaning of
the reading. It s important that students are able to make connections while they re reading.
Another main point would be that questions help clarify and unlock a deeper meaning while
reading. Visualizing and inferring is an important aspect for reading because it helps aid in
understanding. Comprehension strategies allow readers to know a variety of tools that are
beneficial. An inner conversation develops when readers are aware of their own thoughts and are
able to connect their thoughts to the text. Reading comprehension is an ongoing process of
evolving thinking. This idea stood out to me because I think it s important to emphasis the aspect
of it being an ongoing process. Students should be taught... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Activating their background knowledge helps readers make connections to a text. Making
connections to personal experience facilitates understanding. This idea stood out to me because it s
important for readers to connect what they already know to what they are reading. Background
knowledge helps students connect with the text. It also helps them make comparisons and develop
a better understanding. When a reader already has the knowledge about a subject then they are able
to create a bridge to what they are reading. This connection will help them understand the text and
aid in their comprehension. I think background knowledge is beneficial for students because they
can create self to text, text to text, and text to world connections. These connections will help them

Children Of Alcoholics Growing Into Adulthood
Every generation that is born is the future of the world. We evolve as a society as one, we build
each other up for the future. The source of this extravagant outcome is people, but we cannot
succeed as a whole if there are individuals who are suffering and are in need of help. Some who
need help and guidance are children of alcoholics (COA s), they bear the time they live with their
parents and they do not receive help in the process. These children go through so many different
issues with family, school, their social, physical and mental wellbeing. Children of alcoholics
growing into adulthood have negative outcomes that can be diminished by school administration
taking a stand to exhibit attention and support to the situation. The schools can contribute
tremendously by having guest speakers to talk about the subject, and by introducing a counseling
profession that can have a thorough background, plus a program or organization that is able to
connect with these children to help and support them.
When offspring live in an emotional and unstable household, they will have many factors that
contribute to their wellbeing. By living with an alcoholic parent it will leave pressure and stress on
the child. The negative factors and risks that affect how children of alcoholics will become going
into adulthood are stated by Sihyun Park and Karen Schepp. The influences that affect the
offspring is their self esteem, they will have a poor view of themselves as they are living with a

Russia s imperialistic actions over the Southern Tier nations have not just been a nostalgic
attempt to salvage its old empire. The Caspian Sea, the world s largest landlocked body of water
bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, may sit on as much as 200
billion barrels or oil which would be 16% of the Earth s potential oil reserves. (Sciolino, 1998,
pg. 16) A 1998 New York Times article estimated that at that time this amount of oil would add
up to $3 trillion. (Sciolino, 1998, pg. 16) It is obvious that Russia would like to exploit a
considerable share of this wealth. The exploitation of the Caspian Sea depends on pipeline
transport of oil and Russia would like to see these pipelines run through their land on their way to
international markets to harness some of the profit. (Akiner, 2000, pg. 146) This profit, as well as
economic control over the Southern Tier region, is another important motive in Russia s resurgent
scheme.
Russia has used several mechanisms in its campaign to restore the soviet economic space.
Primarily Russia has attempted to assert control over the Caspian Sea in order to gain a large
share of its resources. When in 1994 Azerbaijan concluded what is called the contract of the century

Willy s Loneliness and Alienation in Death of a Salesman
Willy Loman s feelings of alienation and loneliness are direct psychological results of his
interaction with society and the conditions that are found within it. Although, he does not
necessarily have the ability or allow himself to have the ability to define his feelings as such, they
are still very much a part of his everyday existence. This is evident in his constant bragging and
attempted compensation. He does not feel that he is truly a part of society. Indeed, he is not. Miller

Even the things he dreams of having for himself and for his family are shallow. He will never
find relief from his search because even if he reaches his goals of modest financial success he
would still be left wanting.
Willy s life teeters between these petty concrete objects and his grandiose verbal projections. In
past, present, and fantasy, Willy expresses himself through clichГ©s and repetitions in a formulaic
chant. However, he achieves neither popularity nor success as a salesman, and he fails as a gardener,
mechanic, husband, father. (Martin 67)
He cannot even achieve small goals. He has no real feeling of self worth, and this lack of self
confidence is reinforced by society and Biff s discovery of Willy s infidelity.
In speaking about his plays, Miller explained, It is necessary, if one is to reflect reality, not only
to depict why a man does what he does, or why he nearly didn t do it, but why he cannot simply

however, he gives in to his feelings of depression and ends his life. It is the only viable solution he
sees at this point. In another writing, Miller said, My impulse is

Negative Effects Of Media On Millennials
Media s Negative Impact On Millennials
Media is now the dominant source of information and entertainment in the world. People use it as a
major part of their lives, but little do they know how much it impacts them, especially millennials.
According to the Pew Research Center (2017), Today around seven in ten Americans use social
media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain
themselves. Today s media is negatively affecting millennial behavior, physical health, and mental
health.
Media is affecting the behavior of millennials. Children, on average, watch around twelve
thousand acts of violence on televisionTV each year, such as murder or even sexual assault.
Several studies show that this kind of exposure can lead to aggressive behavior (PMC, 2003,
para. 9). Media is also becoming a heavy influence on sexual morality, portraying sex outside of
marriage as common and seldom mentioning its risks and dangers. Studies show how susceptible
teens are to media s influence on sexual behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 12 13). Drugs are promoted
by the media to today s audience as well. Celebrities are often seen and imitated by millennials as
role models; but news and media often highlight the negative things that they do, portraying sex,
drugs, and other addictions as normative (Mondal, n.d., para. 6). Also, several alcohol and tobacco
companies make advertisements telling the viewer that taking such products is are considered cool

THE COMPANY ACT 2006 Provisions such as limited liability on part of auditors, increased

includes limited liability by contract with regard to such an amount which is deemed
reasonable and fair in all circumstances (Coffee, 2007). In the last few years, changes have been
brought in terms of the legal regime in the UK s governance system. For instance, since 1989,
firms in the UK have been able to incorporate, in that the firms can form limited liability
partnerships, wherein they can protect all the partners from any kind of personal bankruptcy
unless the partners were responsible personally in any kind of faulty opinion in terms of audit.
Nonetheless, firms in the UK have continued to choose abandoning the joint responsibility option

Clean Development Mechanism ( Cdm )
The UK has/have set particular targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is presented in
four different time periods, in addition, only the first carbon budget has been completed. The UK
is currently in the progress of the second budget, which is 2013 to 2017. Meeting carbon budget
is not the same as reducing emissions as the budget refers only to some sources of emissions.
The price of carbon has recently been very low and, as a result, the governments have introduced
carbon tax in the Finance Act of 2011.The Carbon Floor Price (CFP) is a top up tax, it exists to
boost the existing EU price of carbon (Webster, 2013). Only electricity producers can top up tax if

Endophthalmitis Vitrectomy Studies
Postoperative endopthalmitis is one of the most devastating complications of cataract surgery.
Despite of the great progress in the lines of treatment of this serious condition, the visual results
are still poor and about 40% of cases sustain severe visual loss (corrected distance visual acuity of
less than 20/200).[1] The incidence of endophthalmitis after cataract surgery varies according to the
surgical technique, it has ranged from 0.04% to 0.13%.[2 3] This complication can end by
evisceration as a last stage in management.[4]
Endophthalmitis Vitrectomy Study (EVS) results demonstrate that only patients in a subgroup of
initial light perception only vision or worse derive a benefit from immediate pars plana vitrectomy

Philosophical Principals Exemplified in The Truman Show...
In order to understand the moral fabric of the world, it is important to question any information
that is given to an individual, instead of blindly accepting the majority opinion and giving it full
credibility and validity based on other people s opinions. Plato s work, The Republic introduces
the allegory of the cave, which is metaphorical scenario that attempts to explain the importance of
questioning norms that may seem trivial. Plato illustrates a cave where bounded prisoners have
lived all their lives in seclusion, away from the outside world. In their immobile state, they can
only look at the wall in front of them which is illuminated by a small fire that has been going on
behind them. The wall constantly projects shadows of people... Show more content on

In an interview, the antagonist claims that, We accept the reality with which we are presented. It is
as simple as that. The quote reflects many philosophical principles that are exemplified in both The
Truman Show and in the Allegory of the Cave.
To start off, the quote addresses the underlying ignorance that is evident in both Plato s and Weir
s works. Truman was living his entire life inside a metaphorical bubble. In many instances
throughout the movie, he ignored any suspicious act that threatened to obscure and interfere with
his concept of reality. For example, as Truman was walking out of his house, he noticed a studio
light that suddenly fell from the sky just as he was about to get in his car. Even though he
questioned it at first, Truman did not really bother investigating or looking into it, perhaps because
he was subconsciously afraid of what he would find. He chooses not to give the random incident
any importance and gets in his car, which further proves his underlying ignorance and reluctance to
accept things that may not conform to the norm. Shortly after, the producers of the show decide to
make an excuse for the set malfunction, and it is soon forgotten. Additionally, when Sylvia tells
him upfront that his entire life is a lie, he chooses to ignore it, until he himself starts to question his
life. In the same way, in Plato s allegory of the

Milligan s Cafeterias
Cafeterias are the main source of food for college students who live on campus. They have
different food options provided for the college students. However, not all of the food choices are
healthy. For example, food in Milligan s cafeteria is cooked in fats and served greasy to the
students. There are not a lot of healthy options in the cafeteria to choose from. Every day the
salad bar is set out for students as a healthy side or meal, however the ingredients are not always
fresh. Sometimes the lettuce provided is wilted, the vegetable toppers are brown and stale, and
overall do not appear appetizing. Sometimes they have special healthy choices like a make your
own tossed salad, or even a sizzling salad, but those options are only offered for one day every

item or a diabetic person is attempting to give themselves the right amount of insulin. The lack of
labels for the food can be problematic. The abundant amount of starch filled food in the cafeteria is
not healthy whatsoever. This can lead to health issues in the future and will cause a great deal of
weight gain which can lead to weight gain. Despite a lack of healthy cafeteria options and a lack
of money, can Milligan College students avoid gaining weight? Yes Milligan students can avoid
gaining weight by choosing healthy and affordable snacks, by their cafeteria food choices, and by

Moral Dilemmas Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase posed several significant moral dilemmas for President Thomas
Jefferson, among these were he believed that federal government should not practice any powers
those were not granted by the Constitution. On other hand he stepped up to buy
Louisiana territory and he desperately tried to get the Louisiana territory for the new nation but he
was not granted evidently to do so under the Constitution. Ultimately, Jefferson was able to make it
happened to purchase the Louisiana territory. According to his decisions, he was capable of
classifying his beliefs and actions and the significance of Louisiana Purchase he posted on national
expansion. Jefferson believed in keeping the United States as agricultural land, and that s for it
required to expand the United States geographically to keep a principled republic. Some people
believed that if United States could get too large the republics would not be able to act properly,
and unquestionable disagreed. It might be right or wrong even you could say it was constitutional
or not, personally I believe that the purchase of Louisiana territory was a conclusive attempt of
Thomas Jefferson and that made the nation s expansion. In addition, it brought up the platform for
the settlement and gained the Southwest and the
Oregon County.
In 1800 Spain struck a mystery agreement to give back the trans Mississippi domain to France, in

Hence, the most instantaneous solution is decrease in consumption of energy by cultivating energy
effectiveness in all segments of the economy and lessening wastage of energy, which
simultaneously leads to reduce carbon footprints so the part of IT is very decisive in this respect. IT
can help capitalize on the productivity of energy utilization by allowing intelligent schemes for
electric power network, management of green buildings, transport, and living style.
Dematerialization, diminishing the necessity for physical setting up, equipment, and goods with
digital technologies, decreases the utilization of resources. IT subsidizes to reducing the petition for
transport and logistics by e‐commerce, telecommuting, e‐government, and video

Evolution Of Gesture And Vocal Communication
Evolution of Gesture and Vocal Communication in Primates
Introduction
Apes are the model organisms in the field of animal communication and neuro scientific studies.
Apes DNA is about 98.6% similar to humans possessing cognitive, emotional and psychological
characteristic which closely resemble humans. Not long ago scientists started studying primates
because of these characteristics and most of the work is in the field of cognitive and behavioral
neuroscience. Phylogenetically, primates and human fall under the same branch called Hominidae
and non human (primates) are human s closest living relatives. Primate s method of communication
is mainly through gestures and their own language. Similarities and differences between human and
primate vocalizations can be studied for comparative research and holds a great prospective to
elucidate the evolutionary processes that formed human language and speech. Humans and primate,
both communicate through a language which is unique to them and vocal behavior and gestures
are an important trait that both the species possess. Primates also utilize this ability of vocal
communication and gestures in their social environment, be it to alert their own species or to attack
another species. Hence this property of communication have become an integrated part of their
cognitive and neuro ecology. Therefore, I hypothesize, that primates utilize vocal communication,
call combinations, vocal learning and gestures to communicate and signal others

Horace Miner s Body Ritual Among The.
Prompt #1 Horace Miner s Body Ritual Among the Nacirema was a very entertaining essay. The
essay made made fun of American culture without directly stating the name of the culture, other
than including the word American spelled backwards. Miner bring to the readers attention the odd
rituals practiced in America that the normal citizen would not find strange at all. However, by
presenting his essayin the this form he shows how strange American customs are from the view of
someone in a different country. Miner begins his essay by describing the American culture as if
it were a tribe. Although he does so secretly, Horace Miner does state that the tribe is located
between Canada and Mexico. He then states that they have an a developed market, yet they re
main concern is on the body. He then goes on to talk about the ritual areas in the homes on the
Nacirema people, bathrooms, where the people practice they re odd rituals. He does not use
direct terms for the medicine men, nor any of the other physicians that are seen in the daily lives
of American people. Miner continues this process while only leaving slight hints. Horace Miner
does a terrific job in this satire. Once view of this paper is noticed, the reader can be entertained by
the mysterious ways of the Nacerima people. This essay has brought attention to the ways of
American culture, which is not only infomative but very entertaining. Prompt #2 never run, just

In savants the encounters of impressive abilities are always linked to extraordinary memory. This
one of a kind memory is very impressive, but only within a very narrow area. For example, a
savant may be able to memories the dictionary, but ask that same person a simple math question,
they would be puzzled to figure it out. The skills often associated with savant syndrome are the
ability to play the piano beautifully, meaning complex pieces one would need months to learn by
ear alone , (Howe 955). Being able to give a day of the week from any past or future date, and
solving complex math problems extremely fast are also common feats performed by savants.
Another interesting skill some savants possess is the perfect appreciation of time without the
knowledge of a clock. (Howe 956)
One example of a fictional savant is Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks. Forrest was born with
an IQ of seventy five, witch is lower than the average student able to go to public school. Forrest
had problems learning to read, walking properly, and even learning his left from right. Only
after having his mother pull some strings was he able to go to a normal public school. While
attending public high school he was constantly harassed by boys of his own age and older. An
example of this occurs when Forrest comes home from school and is followed by boys in his class
who chased him throwing rocks. As Forrest grew older, people took advantage of him more and
more.

The Importance Of Spirituality In Antigone
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The name of this prayer
is the Sign of The Cross and as according to the Catholic Answers Website, is one of the common
and fundamental Catholic prayers. It derives from the Bible (Matthew 28:19) where it states,
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit... The prayeritself was one of the very first ones that I learned as I child.
Although I did not know it at the time, I was praying for the Holy Spirit to show my spirituality
without realizing it. As a young adult I now know and understand that by praying that simple
prayer, I am also showing my spirituality. Coming to that conclusion, however, has taken me on a
spiritual journey in which I am still discovering new things every day. Spirituality is being
concerned with one s religious values rather than only the quality of being concerned with the
human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. In Antigone, one of Sophocles
plays, Antigone, the main character, is proof of that spirituality is being concerned with one s
religious values rather than only the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as
opposed to material or physical things. After Polynices and Eteocles, Antigone s brothers, fight till
death over the throne of the city of Thebes, the Greek City in which the play takes play, only
Eteocles is given proper burial by the

Essay about Puerto Rican Migration to Nyc
Christine CostanzoPuerto Rican Migration to New York City
The story of the Puerto Rican people is unique in the history of U.S. immigration, just as Puerto
Rico occupies a distinctive and sometimes confusing position in the nation s civic fabric. Puerto
Rico has been a possession of the U.S. for more than a century, but it has never been a state. Its
people have been U.S. citizens since 1917, but they have no vote in Congress. As citizens, the
people of Puerto Rico can move throughout the 50 states just as any other Americans can legally,
this is considered internal migration, not immigration. However, in moving to the mainland, Puerto

factory owners and employment agencies had begun recruiting heavily on the island. In addition,
the postwar years saw the return home of thousands of Puerto Rican war veterans, whose service in
the U.S. military had shown them the world. But perhaps the most significant cause was the sudden
availability of affordable air travel. After centuries of immigration by boat, the Puerto Rican
migration became the first great airborne migration in U.S. history. The first great generation of
Puerto Rican migrants established communities in cities throughout the country, including Chicago,
Philadelphia, and Newark, as well as in mid Atlantic farm villages and the mill towns of New
England. However, since the 1930s, the capital of Puerto Rican culture in the mainland U.S. has
been New York City. Despite its great distance from the Caribbean, New York had long been the
landing point of seagoing Puerto Ricans, and the airborne newcomers followed suit. The new
migrants settled in great numbers in Northeast Manhattan, in a neighborhood that soon became
known as Spanish Harlem. Although many had been farm workers in Puerto Rico, they know
found themselves working in a wide variety of jobs, staffing the hospitals, the hotels, the garment
factories, and the police departments of their new hometown, and they soon became a significant
force in the city s political and cultural life. The migration to the 50 states slowed

My Goals To My Pre-Medical Career
Having goals is what sets the victor apart from the loser. An individual must apply goals to their
life in order to be successful. I have learned from personal experience that in order to succeed in
anything you do in life, you need to have goals to achieve. I would not be where I am today if it

that I would like to meet in the near future. My goalis to have a successful career in undergraduate
school with my pre medicine major to help push me towards my medical career. I will then go on

as a career choice. Getting this degree for my career will also help me reach my goal to financially

Operant Conditioning And Observational Learning
In this journal log, I will be explaining 3 theories which are known as Classical Conditioning,
Operant Conditioning and Observational Learning.
The first theory I will be elaborating on is Classical Conditioning (Weiten, 2017). This theory
suggests that anyone is able to subconsciously learn to react physically to a neutral stimulus,
something that originally does not elicit a certain reaction from them, by linking it to certain
behaviours, events or stimuli. In classical conditioning, there is the unconditioned stimulus,
unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus and conditioned response (Weiten, 2017). When I
was young, I enjoyed playing with balloons and was not affected when it burst but I started to fear
getting close to blown up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In operant conditioning, there are reinforcements and punishments. Reinforcements are present to
increase positive behaviour whereas punishments are given to decrease negative behaviour. There
are both positive and negative reinforcements and punishments. Positive reinforcements suggests
to increase the amount of rewards given to increase positive behaviour while negative
reinforcements mean taking away something disturbing away from someone to increase positive
behaviour from them. Positive punishment increases the amount of negativity introduced in the
subject s life to reduce negative behaviour and negative punishment takes away a certain
something that is desirable for the subject to decrease his or her negative behaviour (Weiten,
2017). A personal example of positive reinforcement is when my mother rewards me for getting
good results on my tests by giving me extra allowance for a week, motivating me to continue to
study hard for my future tests. A negative reinforcement would be when my parents tell my
sisters to keep their volumes down while I study to help me focus on studying. An example of
positive punishment is when my co curricular activity (CCA) coach scolds me for repeating a
wrong move in my routine, making me focus on my mistakes so as to be less careless the next
time I execute it. A negative punishment that I have received is my father restricting me from
going out with my friends so as to reduce the amount of money I

  • 3. An Examination of Capital Punishment Essay Capital punishment also known as the death penalty is when a person who has been convicted by the court of law can be sentenced to death. This occurs when a defendant is being tried with a criminal offense; such as the conscious murder of a peace officer on active duty, or a federal agent. This punishment has been a constant debate throughout our history. People claim it to be unjust or a cruel and unusual punishment, while another part of our population claims that this consequence is not used enough. Capital punishmentis not a problem only here but around the world as well; there is constant arguing and debates, here and around the globe, about the moralities of this punishment. This has been an unsurpassable struggle from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, Parliament had voted to abolish capital punishment in 1965, it was viewed as the emblematic of the 1960s, part of a shift towards a more permissive society (Homans,2008,43). Although they outlawed capital punishment they did not change the public opinion on the matter. In fact the majority of the public happened to be opposed to the abolition. From 1861 onwards there were only four crimes that could be charged with capital punishment it includes: murder, treason, piracy with violence, and arson in government dockyards and arsenals (Holmans,2008,43). Although, the only one which was being actively enforced and charged with the death penalty was, murder. The only reason it was really enforced for murders is because judges believed that murders lost their right to live due to the fact they took a life. Because every murderer is at times very different the public opinion took note of it therefore many murders were pardoned by the Home Secretary and given the royal privilege of mercy. This did not change until 1957. Parliamentary abolitionists were supported by groups such as the Howard League for Penal Reform and the National Council for the Abolition of the Death Penalty or NCADP. It had been established in 1923. A woman established this organization because of the murder of her husband by her lover. During the 1920s people began to question the deterrent effect of the death penalty in the many cases viewing them on a case by case basis trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Throughtout History, Illustrations and Paintings Have... Throughout history, notorious and creative people have used illustrations and paintings to play on people s emotions. One of the most famous examples of this was during World War I, with the use of propaganda posters to increase nationalistic feelings towards one s own country. Through the mass production and creativity of the posters, many young men enlisted in their nation s army to protect and support their country throughout the war. This first poster (see Figure 1) was used by Germans during World War I; on the bottom part of the poster there German writing which translates out to, It is essential that the last blows achieve victory! This represents that the very well dressed man is hiding in the shadows from the war; that he is trying to hide himself from the war altogether. On the other side of the window, there is light outside that has several lines of marching soldiers, with the American Flag flying right above them. Having the American flag flying above these soldiers, gives the sense that they are heroes for going to fight this war. Having the well dressed man inside and the marching soldiers outside shows the viewer that the men who stay home and tremble in fear of the war do not deserve glory. On the other hand the soldiers that are outside deserve glory. Finally this last poster (see Figure 3) was used for English propaganda. In the background there is a burning building and two lines of soldiers. The lines of soldiers could represent two things: one being that the British army is much smaller compared to Germany s. The second is that in the line of soldiers, there appears to be a few empty spots which could correlate to the question at the top of the poster that asks, WHO S ABSENT? and then asks another question at the bottom which is, Is it you? These two questions are directed at British men (usually between the ages of 18 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Deviant Globalization From Gilman s Perspective Globalization is a developmental process of transnational integration, which mainly reflects on the economic aspect. The moral standards and legal systems in different regions are changing differently along with the progress of the society. However, when mentioned globalization, people mostly refer to mainstream globalization. Deviant globalization the rebarbative dark side of the global economyis ignored constantly. There is a distinctive evaluation from Nils Gilman deviant globalization is a form of development. As Harvey (2006) said that human, finance, goods, ideas and services are considered increasingly as the important factors in the development of globalization. Therefore, it could be discussed from economic, political and social perspectives to measure the deviant globalization. This essay aims to analyse the deviant globalization from Gilman s perspective. Defining the deviant globalization and analysing how the deviant globalization forms firstly, and using examples to explain the reasons of development of these three perspectives. • 6. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Studying Abroad In the last century, the contemporary world has become more globalized than before. There has been a worldwide integration in different fields of life such as economic, political, business, trade, financial, and educational fields. In order to deal with this globalization, students, in all over the world, should be opened to other countries and cultures which exceed the boundary of their nation. Studying abroad, which means leaving the homeland country and pursuing the educationin another country ( Dervin Byron, 2008), could be one of the ways for the students to explore this globalized world. It has been mentioned by the Institute of International Education (IIE) that in the last two decades the number of students studying abroad worldwide has tripled (Lieb, 2016). Their point of view is that it is hard for these students to be responsible for arranging money for university s tuition fees and for their living expenses. Although that is correct to a certain extent, there are some weaknesses in this view. Firstly, students who have the intention to study abroad would put a prior financial plan with their parents. That helps them to know their budget, and to spend money according to it. Also, if there are some unexpected circumstances happen, they will be assisted financially by their parents. Secondly, some universities and schools provide full or partial scholarships for the international students (Cadd,2012). For example, University of British Columbia offers scholarships and other forms of financial aid for international students. Like the earlier world war, it destroyed a previous social and economic order (Curtis, 1996). Many of tall buildings were built to meet the large number of human requirements. Modernism was rapidly developed at that time. This essay aims to explore the development of modernism after World War II by compare and contrast the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartment in German and Society Hill Towers in the USA. It first discusses the similarity of the two chosen buildings. Then explains the difference of design, which includes surroundings, building form and the apartment layout. Furthermore, explore the factors lead to those difference which are policy, the influence of the other architects and architects own belief. As cities were destroyed during the war, there were increasing needs of buildings especially the apartments and houses. These two chosen projects have the same functions as apartments. They were both high rise buildings, which were built as a part of the redevelopment of the city after the war. The Hansaviertel Apartment was built in 1957, Berlin, Germany and designed by Alar Aalto. The other one is named Society Hill Towers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I.M Pei is the designer for this apartment. • 8. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plea Bargaining Plea bargaining is when the prosecutor and defendant make an arrangement in which the defendant pleads guilty to a lesser charge. In hopes with the Judge being lenient with their sentence. Many criminal cases are based off of plea bargaining, it s a negotiation process where the defendant and the prosecutor discuss what charges they will be accounted for if not all. Sometimes it may lead to a reduced sentence, which also saves the time of everyone going through a trial and having to go through the process of trying to solve a case. The judgecan not be there through the discussion of the pleabargain, and nor does a plea bargain take place in a court room. Plea bargaining is more of a private situation with just the prosecutor and defendant. It also has it s advantages and disadvantages. Most times plea bargaining becomes controversial, and It does get heated because no one wants to sit in prison. A crimeis a crime and the person who commits the crime has to face the consequences of his/her actions. Plea Bargaining just makes things a little more less complicated then what it needs to be for a defendant and the prosecutor. As mentioned earlier, plea bargaining has it s advantages and disadvantages. The most obvious advantage would be receiving a shorter sentence, and less chargers on ones record. A disadvantage would be that either way you still have to do time in prison. Accepting a plea bargain is not easy at all, everything will depend on things such as your criminal ... Satire and Humor is a Vital Function of our Society Humor and satire is an entertaining and extremely effective method for highlighting social ideologies, challenging a governmental system or an organization, exposing injustice, and encouraging positive change in perspective. Likely outcome: The panel initially divides evenly. The exploitation of the Caspian Sea depends on pipeline transport of oil and Russia would like to see these pipelines run through their land on their way to international markets to harness some of the profit. (Akiner, 2000, pg. 146) This profit, as well as economic control over the Southern Tier region, is another important motive in Russia s resurgent scheme. Russia has used several mechanisms in its campaign to restore the soviet economic space. Primarily Russia has attempted to assert control over the Caspian Sea in order to gain a large share of its resources. Humans and primate, both communicate through a language which is unique to them and vocal behavior and gestures are an important trait that both the species possess. Primates also utilize this ability of vocal communication and gestures in their social environment, be it to alert their own species or to attack another species. He then states that they have an a developed market, yet they re main concern is on the body. He then goes on to talk about the ritual areas in the homes on the Nacirema people, bathrooms, where the people practice they re odd rituals. This quote shows the remarable talent of a savant being able to remember a person from reading the phone book the night before .. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In savants the encounters of impressive abilities are always linked to extraordinary memory. This one of a kind memory is very impressive, but only within a very narrow area. For example, a savant may be able to memories the dictionary, but ask that same person a simple math question, they would be puzzled to figure it out. The skills often associated with savant syndrome are the ability to play the piano beautifully, meaning complex pieces one would need months to learn by ear alone , (Howe 955). Being able to give a day of the week from any past or future date, and solving complex math problems extremely fast are also common feats performed by savants. Another interesting skill some savants possess is the perfect appreciation of time without the knowledge of a clock. (Howe 956) One example of a fictional savant is Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks. Forrest was born with an IQ of seventy five, witch is lower than the average student able to go to public school. Forrest had problems learning to read, walking properly, and even learning his left from right. Only after having his mother pull some strings was he able to go to a normal public school. While attending public high school he was constantly harassed by boys of his own age and older. An example of this occurs when Forrest comes home from school and is followed by boys in his class who chased him throwing rocks. As Forrest grew older, people took advantage of him more and more. • 52. The Importance Of Spirituality In Antigone In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The name of this prayer is the Sign of The Cross and as according to the Catholic Answers Website, is one of the common and fundamental Catholic prayers. It derives from the Bible (Matthew 28:19) where it states, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit... The prayeritself was one of the very first ones that I learned as I child. Although I did not know it at the time, I was praying for the Holy Spirit to show my spirituality without realizing it. As a young adult I now know and understand that by praying that simple prayer, I am also showing my spirituality. Coming to that conclusion, however, has taken me on a spiritual journey in which I am still discovering new things every day. Spirituality is being concerned with one s religious values rather than only the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. In Antigone, one of Sophocles plays, Antigone, the main character, is proof of that spirituality is being concerned with one s religious values rather than only the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. After Polynices and Eteocles, Antigone s brothers, fight till death over the throne of the city of Thebes, the Greek City in which the play takes play, only Eteocles is given proper burial by the ... • 53. Essay about Puerto Rican Migration to Nyc Christine CostanzoPuerto Rican Migration to New York City The story of the Puerto Rican people is unique in the history of U.S. immigration, just as Puerto Rico occupies a distinctive and sometimes confusing position in the nation s civic fabric. Puerto Rico has been a possession of the U.S. for more than a century, but it has never been a state. Its people have been U.S. citizens since 1917, but they have no vote in Congress. As citizens, the people of Puerto Rico can move throughout the 50 states just as any other Americans can legally, this is considered internal migration, not immigration. However, in moving to the mainland, Puerto Ricans leave a homeland with its own distinct identity and culture, and the transition can ... In addition, the postwar years saw the return home of thousands of Puerto Rican war veterans, whose service in the U.S. military had shown them the world. But perhaps the most significant cause was the sudden availability of affordable air travel. After centuries of immigration by boat, the Puerto Rican migration became the first great airborne migration in U.S. history. The first great generation of Puerto Rican migrants established communities in cities throughout the country, including Chicago, Philadelphia, and Newark, as well as in mid Atlantic farm villages and the mill towns of New England. However, since the 1930s, the capital of Puerto Rican culture in the mainland U.S. has been New York City. Despite its great distance from the Caribbean, New York had long been the landing point of seagoing Puerto Ricans, and the airborne newcomers followed suit. The new migrants settled in great numbers in Northeast Manhattan, in a neighborhood that soon became known as Spanish Harlem. Although many had been farm workers in Puerto Rico, they know found themselves working in a wide variety of jobs, staffing the hospitals, the hotels, the garment factories, and the police departments of their new hometown, and they soon became a significant force in the city s political and cultural life. The migration to the 50 states slowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Operant Conditioning And Observational Learning In this journal log, I will be explaining 3 theories which are known as Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning and Observational Learning. The first theory I will be elaborating on is Classical Conditioning (Weiten, 2017). This theory suggests that anyone is able to subconsciously learn to react physically to a neutral stimulus, something that originally does not elicit a certain reaction from them, by linking it to certain behaviours, events or stimuli. In classical conditioning, there is the unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus and conditioned response (Weiten, 2017). When I was young, I enjoyed playing with balloons and was not affected when it burst but I started to fear getting close to blown up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In operant conditioning, there are reinforcements and punishments. Reinforcements are present to increase positive behaviour whereas punishments are given to decrease negative behaviour. There are both positive and negative reinforcements and punishments. Positive reinforcements suggests to increase the amount of rewards given to increase positive behaviour while negative reinforcements mean taking away something disturbing away from someone to increase positive behaviour from them. Positive punishment increases the amount of negativity introduced in the subject s life to reduce negative behaviour and negative punishment takes away a certain something that is desirable for the subject to decrease his or her negative behaviour (Weiten, 2017). A personal example of positive reinforcement is when my mother rewards me for getting good results on my tests by giving me extra allowance for a week, motivating me to continue to study hard for my future tests. A negative reinforcement would be when my parents tell my sisters to keep their volumes down while I study to help me focus on studying. An example of positive punishment is when my co curricular activity (CCA) coach scolds me for repeating a wrong move in my routine, making me focus on my mistakes so as to be less careless the next time I execute it. A negative punishment that I have received is my father restricting me from going out with my friends so as to reduce the amount of money I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
