3 Research Methods
3.1 Research Design
The study adopted quantitative research method to diagnose the effect of product branding on
profitability of Unilever (GH) Limited. This is because the hypothesis formulated in the study could
be best tested with mathematical models (Lisa, 2009). The study focused on Unilever (GH) Limited.
Unilever (GH) Limited is of the largest listed companies in Ghana with long trust records of product
branding, supported with coperate vision. The company owns more than 400 brands, which are put
into four main categories Refreshments, Foods, Personal Care and Home Care.
3.2 Data
Data was compiled on product brand and company s profit over the period of 1984 2014 Financial
Statements ascertained from Ghana Stock Exchange Database.
The study followed Bae (1997), Scott Morton (1999), Rudholm (2001) and Daunfeldt et al (2005) and
used sales revenue as proxy for profit. Elements of branding mostly used in empirical researches
include logo (Schmitt Smionson, 1997), packaging (Garber et al, 2003; Folk and

California Self Insurance
Insurance Article (US focused) #4179
What is California s laws on self insurance?
Self insurance is a term used infers to a risk fund calculated on the basis of future losses. Under the
plan actual as well as possible claims are identified so that money from the fund can be used to cover
any rising claims. Many of the corporations taking self insurance are those frustrated with high cost of
coverage from the commercial entries. The cover is used to cover anything from company vehicles to
workers compensation. Self insurance accounts for a sizable slice of the property casualty insurance
market.
According to State off California, department of Industrial Relations, the state runs the largest self
insurance program serving workers compensation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you own or drive a car in the state of California, the law mandates that you to maintain a financial
responsibility case of an accidents. There are four ways you can do this; first you can purchase motor
vehicle insurance policy, make a deposit of $35,000 to the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV), take
$35,000 worth of surerity bond from a corporation licensed to operate in California. The last strategy
is participating in self insurance approved by the DMV. The state of California DMV can issue a
certificate of self insurance to applications have a fleet of over 25 vehicles.
The party must have the vehicle registered in their name and is able to make necessary payments in
case a ruling or judgment is made against you. Before the registration is issues, the DMV may request
the applicant to provide a document showing proof of financial ability to cover the risks. The
document showing proof of self insurance should be presented when the vehicle is involve in an
accident, when renewing the vehicle registration and when requested by the law enforcement. Failure
of inability to maintain financial responsibility can attract serious penalties, including vehicle
registration suspension, traffic ticket and impounding of the

Courtship in Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare...
Courtship in Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
The themes of love, marriage and courtship are an important part of Much Ado about nothing ; they
are presented in a way that reflects the attitudes of the society at that time. I will explore the different
attitudes of modern audiences and Shakespeare s audience towards these themes in the play.
The two examples of relationships I have chosen are Beatrice and Benedick s and Hero and Claudio s.
This is because I think they are in contrast with each other, at the beginning of the play it appears that
Hero and Claudio will be the perfect couple formed in a conventional way, Claudio goes through the
right channels and their marriage is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Shakespeare s plays present love as unpredictable, as there are many images of cupid in
Much Ado as well as love at first sight in his other plays such as in Romeo and Juliet.
Beatrice and Benedick s relationship appeals more to a modern audience, they are direct and confident
in expressing their own opinions and the opinion that they have of each other. Even when Beatrice and
Benedick are in agreement with each other that is, that they are against marriage, they cannot help but
quarrel.
Benedick: God keep your ladyship in that mind so some gentlemen or other shall scape a predestinate
scratched face
Beatrice: scratching could not make it worse and t were such a face as yours.
This constant bickering between Beatrice and Benedick is a passion which their relationship is built
upon, each are intuitive they echo the others language. They are not wooing in the expected ways
because their relationship is one of equals. This is in contrast to the way that Hero and Claudio court;
he cannot imagine Hero as a passionate and sexual being but as a brother to a sister showed bashful
sincerity .
The way in which the two couples communicate with each other gives the audience a useful insight
into how well they know each other. Early on in the play we realise Beatrice and Benedick have
known each other for a while, I know you of old says Beatrice, they

Who Is Responsible For The Injury Of The Post Surgical...
The case that has been presented in this unit is who is responsible for the injury that the post surgical
patient has suffered. In order to justify who is the party at fault, one must look at all aspect as to what
lead up to the permanent damage to the patient s left leg. Malpractice is negligence by a professional
(Singh, 2006, pp 19). In this case, there has been proven to be negligence, but how many parties
should be held responsible is the question. The standard of care can be different in each facility and it
is up to the nurses to know what the quality of care should be when dealing with patients (Singh,
2006). In this case, I believe that both the night shift nurse and the day shift nurse should be held
accountable for the damage done to this patient.
Negligence can happen for several reasons when it comes to nursing staff. The can be overworked
nurses, to many patients, lack of staffing, or poor documentation. There are four areas that must be
met when trying to determine a malpractice claim. These areas are duty to patient, breach of duty to
patient, injury to patient, and causal relationship between breach of duty and harm or injury (Diemert,
2012, pp 6). Duty to the patient is when a nurse is assigned to a floor or specified rooms that have
patients who require their direct care. They are to make sure that the physician s orders are followed.
Breach of duty to a patient is when the nurse does not follow through with the plan of care or the

How Did The Million Man March Promote African Americans...
Throughout time African Americans have fought for their equality, integrity, and unity. The Million
Man March is another example of an act to promote African American equality, show their
importance, and unify all. The March took place October 16, 1995 in Washington D.C. . It was
organized in order to accomplish many goals that benefit African Americans. What were the goals of
the Million Man March? The Million Man march aimed to raise awareness of the importance of
African American rights, to show African Americans value to society, and to promote unity between
African American communities.
One of the goals of the Million Man March was to raise awareness for African Americans rights. The
importance of the Million Man March was to show America and themselves that African Americans
are able to come together on issues. The leader of the march, Minister Louis Farrakhan , encouraged
people to demand that politicians develop an agenda to address the needs and concerns of African
Americans. Delta college graduate, Otha Farley writes, The planned strategy included registering to

The Million Man March showed people what America s workplace and marketplace would look like
without the participation of African Americans; empty. The U.S. was built on the backs of the
ancestors of hard working African Americans who collectively make significant contributions to
America s earning and spending power. Otha Farley writes They served notice that no longer will
African Americans, particularly African American males, view themselves as a powerless people, but
as a force to be reckoned with. The image of unmotivated, irresponsible, politically apathetic people is
no longer acceptable to these sons of slaves, who are, more accurately, sons of builders of this nation.
African Americans helped create America as it is today, therefore, they should not continue to be

Hollywood Comparison Of Pride And Prejudice
Jane Austen s famous novel Pride and Prejudice has had many film adaptations over the years. Two of
the most popular are the 1995 miniseries, and the 2005 Hollywood film. Both of these films have
many similarities, as well as many differences, and they both have strong points when representing the
novel and the Regency Period. However, the 1995 miniseries takes the cake when it comes to
accuracy. The miniseries is much longer than the movie, and as such, it gives more time for the
characters to grow and develop. The movie feels much more rushed; the pacing is too fast. The movie
also gives a more modern feel about love and romance. It is far more dramatic, and overly emotional,
such as the initial proposal between Darcy and Elizabeth. It took place out in the open, on a rainy day,
rather than privately in a home. The movie Elizabeth is more sensational and exciting, shouting her
emotions, rather than explaining them in a calm and collected manner like 1995 Elizabeth. ... Show

Not counting Knightley s emotional outbursts, both Elizabeths were wonderful. They were both witty,
and feisty; more independent and intelligent than many of the other female role. Darcy was just as
reserved and proud. Mrs. Bennet and Lydia managed to be extremely grating and annoying in each
film, and Mr. Bennet just as subtly funny with his sarcasm. Both Janes are shy, sweet, and kind
(though 2005 Jane had more of a personality). Mr. Collins, unfortunately, is just as cringe worthy and
disgusting. Both adaptations share much of the same dialogue, especially when it comes from

The Controversy Of Nuclear Weapons Essay
The previously accepted nature of war stemmed from the Clausewitzian trinity: war is emotional, an
experience wrought with passion, violence, and enmity; uncertainty, chance, and friction pervade the
medium of war; however, because war is not an end in itself, and because, as a means, it is
subordinate to its political aims, war must be subject to reason (Clausewitz, 89). With the first
employment of nuclear weapons, however, strategists and military theorists began to question
Clausewitz s foundational ideas (Winkler, 58). Similarly, Allan Winkler, in agreeing with Bernard
Brodie s thesis, opines that the advent of nuclear weapons fundamentally changed the nature of war.
Winkler s assertion stems from his argument that such a nuclear duel would yield a post war
environment incapable of recovery for any parties involved (62). He further describes Brodie s
realization that [t]he atomic bomb is not just another and more destructive weapon to be added to an
already long list. It is something which threatens to make the rest of the list relatively unimportant.
(62) Ultimately, Winkler abridges Brodie s assessment in stating that the United States was caught in
the paradox of having to prepare for a war it did not plan to fight. (63) The American doctrine of
deterrence stemmed from the development of nuclear weapons. Strategic analysts, using this
development as a point of departure, recognized that a nuclear capability established a defense
scenario that was, in fact,

Essay On Muscle Contraction
The Correlation between Eccentric Strength and Agility in Male Field Sport Athletes.
There are three types of muscle contraction, isotonic, isometric and isokinetic. There are two isotonic
contractions, concentric and eccentric. A concentric contraction is a shortening of the muscle fibres, an
example of this being a bicep curl causing a concentric contraction on the biceps brachii causing the
elbow to flex. An eccentric contraction is the opposite of this. During an eccentric contraction as the
muscle contracts the muscle fibres lengthen. An eccentric contraction is important in deceleration
where the quadriceps lengthen to slow down the limb. This type of contraction should transfer into
agility as athletes with greater eccentric strength ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agility has been described as a rapid whole body movement with change of velocity or direction in
response to a stimulus . (Sheppard et al, 2006) This description identifies the inclusion of cognitive
skills in determining agility. This definition applies to open skills only. Open skills cannot be pre
planned, however closed skills, such as sprinting or previously planned changes of direction, can be
planned in advance. This is very important in every field sport as the ability to react quickly and allow
the movements to match these reactions enhances performance. Many field sports require straight line
running speed but more often than not fast change of direction is a defining factor of an athlete s
performance. Fast change of direction speed and ability to make the right decision in a game situation
makes for an excellent athlete.
Many tests have been designed to test for change of direction speed. The 5 0 5 test is a timed agility
test using rapid 180 degree turns and straight line speed. The Illinois test is a timed agility test using
straight line speed and many multi directional changes. The Zig zag test is a good indication of
multiple directional changes. It is a timed test where the athlete must round cones set out in a figure 8.
Subjects used in this study were 10 male soccer players. The agility test that was chosen to best
simulate this sport was the 5 0 5 agility test. This was due to the quick, snappy change

Cuban-American Relations
Cuban American relations have been increasingly rocking since the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
Recently there has been a shift towards normalizing relations with Cuba during Barack Obama s
presidency. Why are Cuban American relations improving since 2008? One must know some
historical background such as the Cold War and how Cuba and the US operated during the Cold War.
Scholars have debated Cuban American relations since 1959 and even before, however, for the first
time since before 1959, the US has decided to normalize relations which allows for scholars in both

The idea that Obama must preserve his legacy is something that is not new to US Presidents. Looking
at Obama s first term in office is important because it sets up his second term where he truly starts
looking at Cuba and this idea of normalizing relations starts to take shape. The strength of Obama s
political agenda during his first term was wavering and Obama was truly focused on domestic issues
and domestic reforms following the Bush Administration. Obama was mainly focused on ending the
Iraq War and handling the bailouts and other reforms that got implemented as soon as he entered
office. Foreign policy, for the most part, was pushed to the back burner for Obama s first term. Obama
ran on domestic reform and that is what he tried to do. The Arab Spring was an event which made
Obama look more into foreign policy and he had deal with the fallout of that towards the end of his
first term and the beginning of his second one. Arab Spring and Obama s handling of it made his first
term tricky and challenging. Obama s first term in office was marked by political, economic, and
social problems following the global financial crisis and therefore could not focus as much on foreign
policy but when Obama did look at foreign policy and what he wanted to accomplish as President
during his first term, he was mainly focused on reversing the trends as established by Bush in the

(Introduction): Throughout her novel, The Women of Brewster Place, Ms. Naylor emphasizes the
importance of sister hood by showing how the women are strengthened by their relationships with one

Thesis: The strengthening of women through other women is illustrated by Mattie s role as a daughter
to Miss Eva, a sister to Etta Mae, and a mother to Lucielia.
PARA 2: Miss Eva Turner plays a vital role in Mattie s life by taking her in during her loneliness and

Lucielia was literally dying of grief and rage. It is Mattie s intervention and her ability to place
Lucielia s grief in a historical context and to know it as one more instance of murdered dreams in a
long history of such murders that undergirds her life saving and healing intervention (Aull, 2) Mattie
healed and renewed Lucielia physically and mentally. Mattie magnificently wrestles Ciel, dying of
grief, back to life (Gottlieb p.1484). Mattie took on the role of a mother when she nursed Lucielia
back to health. Mattie treated and nursed Lucielia as if handling a newborn (Naylor, 104). Mattie s
relationship with Basil teaches her valuable lessons that help her to be a more effective mother figure
to Lucielia. Mattie s mistake with Basil is she used him to fill a void. She loved the fact that he was
solely dependent on her. My Bed hasn t been empty since Basil was born (38). Mattie spoiled Basil to
the point he would always have to have his way. He knew his mother would always be there for him.
Because of that, he took advantage of her. It was hard for Mattie to watch the turmoil and sadness
Lucielia had to encounter in her love life. It was like watching her child suffer. However, Mattie wasn

Wynton Marsalis: Sparks from a Traditionalist
Wynton Learson Marsalis is a jazz trumpeter of the highest caliber. Marsalis was born in the home of
jazz, New Orleans, in 1961. He has been entertaining the world for decades with his mastery of
trumpet improvisations; that scream the influences of greats like Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie.
Marsalis played jazz with many of the greats, in particular Art Blakey. In 1980 he became one of Art

BRCA Genetic Testing
UCLA researchers conducted an experiment and found out that other diagnostic tools are more
efficient and cost effective than universal screenings. This was overlooked by Dr. Patricia Ganz, the
director of the division of cancer prevention and control research at UCLA s Jonsson Comprehensive
cancer center. These researchers concluded the BRCA genetic test is too expensive to license
universally. This test usually costs $4,000 and is not worth it because of how rare BRCA mutations
are. In order to follow through with this test, the price would have to drop by ninety percent.
Researchers say that of 10,000 people, the BRCA test would only detect four cases of breast cancer

These tests each do something different and can be performed at different periods of the pregnancy.
Amniocentesis tests can be done fifteen to twenty weeks during pregnancy and will remove some
amniotic fluid from the mother. This fluid will be tested for chemical indicators or used to create a
karyotype. An ultrasound is done a couple times during a pregnancy and looks for major structural
issues. Also, the fetus can be looked at during a fetoscopy where a fiber optic scope is inserted into the
uterus to examine the fetus. The last test is Chorionic Villus Sampling. This test can be performed
between eight and ten weeks where tissue from the placenta is removed and the parents will receive
results faster than most tests. These tests can help parents discover that their child may be in danger
due to a genetic disease. This could give a heads up to parents and look farther into the disease and its
consequences,
I feel it is very important to get genetic testing done because particular diseases could have major
effects. If a person really wants to get a test done, they would be willing to pay the price. This would
make the BRCA test more successful and doctors should only perform the test if the patient is willing

Book Report On The Book Le Gai Savoir
I remember the first time I heard about Nietzsche was a few years ago, in my chemistry class. I had a
friend who spent all his time, in science classes, reading books about philosophy. His nonconformity
caught my attention. I started to be interested by the big mustache of the author on the cover page of
his book Le Gai Savoir, because I knew, of course, that all authors with big mustache such as Victor
Hugo and Albert Einstein wrote about great things! So I started to read Nietzsche s works. Then, one
day, my dad caught me reading Le Gai Savoir and he told me that this philosopher, born in a town
near Leipzig on 15 October 1844 (Wotling 797), had changed the way he perceived his life. He told
me that when he was eighteen in China, he was very poor and due to his stressful condition, he failed
the final admission exam for a university. Because of the high amount of population and competition
in China, the final exam decides unfortunately the fate of a person. He had developed depression.
However, one day, he bought a Nietzsche s book and started to read it. He told me that Nietzsche s
poetry and positive ideas motivated him to change his life, to be greater, and to become who [he really
is] (Nietzsche, Le Gai Savoir 251). And this is why he wasn t afraid of immigrating to Canada with
my mother. In this essay, I will introduce this great philosopher and I will show that he agrees with the
point of view of Socrates that an unexamined life is not worth living ,

The Issue Of Gun Ownership
As time has progressed, the issue of gun ownership has become more and more of a debate. With the
development of new technology that can lead to devastating destruction, it is extremely difficult to
overlook the harm that this weaponry could ensue on the safety of our nation. As stated in the second
amendment of the constitution of the United States, The right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed. The framers, however, could never have known the potential for destruction
that our present weaponry can cause. So, the question to this day has been, to what degree should the
infringement of our right to bear arms be prevented? There are many different possible answers to this
question, however, to me, only one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, banning these weapons will not end this conflict as a whole. This question cannot be
answered as black and white as people want it to, because technology is constantly developing, thus
changing the arms that people may have in the future. In the same way that the framers could never
have anticipated the current day weaponry, we could never anticipate the weaponry that may be
developed one hundred years from now. For example, theoretically, if the United States were to ban
the use of any automatic weapons, some problems may be halted for now. However, if in fifty years
from now, a new form of weaponry that can fire nuclear missiles from a handgun is released, this
problem will simply restart again because now more restrictions have to be put in place. However, by
giving the government the ability to halt the civilian exposure to these weapons in the first place,
similar problems will not occur because the weaponry will never fall in civilian hands. Other people
seem to uphold the opinion that the right to bear arms is outdated and we should get rid of the
amendment completely in order to ensure that everyone is safe. Their belief is that you should not
have to stop a bad person with a gun by risking a good person with a gun. They think that if nobody
were to own guns in the first place, there would never be problems at all. However, this argument is
not completely logical for a number of reasons. First of

an illegal business and looked down upon by most people. At one point in the story Jarvis Lorry, Jerry
Cruncher s boss, accuses him of robbing graves and says he will lose his job when they got back to
London. This is the point where Jerry basically begs for Jarvis to at least keep his son hired to run

Socrates Real Person
Was Socrates Really a Real Person?
(A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn about
the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent, all we
know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and what is just a
captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up to portray ideals or
tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some scholars believe that some
of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and saying that Socrates believed in
them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates believed everything that is recorded in
Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic, is extremely intriguing because of the
way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s
Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers everything in a way that avoids actually
answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is talking with to think for themselves so he
never gives a definitive answer when asked a question. Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with
thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost
everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double meanings. Why does Socrates play with
people s minds with sarcasm and intrigue? Socrates was

Many students in today s world are becoming lazy. As time is there, students find ways to cheat, and

Malesic shares his own personal experience as an English teacher at a college just how often students
are willing to plagiarize their papers. He talks about the first time he was offended by the student that

plagiarism isn t as rare as he considered. Many of his colleagues told different stories of the times that
they have caught plagiarism throughout their career. He tells his story about the various causes of why

Essay on With the setting of the sun
With the setting of the sun
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, there is a constant feeling of movement and the desire
to get away. Nick, Gatsby, Wilson,
Tom and Daisy all move, or have the intention of moving. Not only does this movement seem to
foreshadow events in the book, but it also seems to lead to the conclusion that society as a whole in
the 1920 s was rather unstable and was undergoing constant change. Not all the characters move in the
same way, and this shows how different their backgrounds and lifestyles are. The main movement
seems to be from west to east. Throughout the decades man is said to be progressing through the steps

I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into

he talks about the past then he will be able to change the future for the better. The sun also stands for
power and greatness, which made Jay Gatsby shine right through Jimmie Gatz. He starts of engulfed
in darkness, as his dream does not exist. From there he seems to be obsessed with this reverie, and
effectively kills off Jimmie Gatz and creates Jay Gatsby.
This new personality is formed when the sun rises, bathing him in light. Jay Gatsby sprang from his
Platonic conception of himself (104), and even with this change he still believed that the rock of the
world was founded securely on a fairy s wing. (105) This new light blinds the people that look at him,
and covers up his old self. Although it covers him, some people like Mr. Sloane see him as

The Next Phase Of Ending The Cold War Essay
The Next Phase in Ending the Cold War
The date is October 27, 1962, and it is a brisk fall day in Michigan. Normally, I could hear children
playing outside of my office window but not today. Today, all that I can hear is wind passing through
the city and the feeling of despair resonates throughout the populace. The blockade went up two days
ago and I want to believe that it will be enough to subdue the U.S.S.R. forces but I am unsure if the
blockade will hold. President Kennedy is entirely against using first strike measures because he does
not want to enter another unnecessary war, however most citizens have lived in a state of panic and
distress. The citizens believe that the strikes would be bad, but they would end the restlessness that
can be felt even in the smallest of children. The biggest conversation politically is that President
Kennedy is not fit to be president of the United States of America, due to his age and the recent
failure, The Bay of Pigs .
Conflict between Cuba, U.S.S.R, and the United States present two conclusions: These nations begin a
nuclear war with few to none survivors or these nations do not participate in a nuclear war and
everyone lives. I have been tasked with dealing with two scenarios: The first scenario is if we decided
to strike Cuba, what does the day after look like. The second scenario is that if we wait and the United
States is hit with a nuclear weapon from Cuba, what does October 28, 1962, look like for an average
American.

The Concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism
Buddhism and Hinduism have common roots: both religions have arisen in India. However, over long
history of its formation, Buddhism has absorbed traditions of many civilizations of the East. It was not
just a religion. This teaching is about personal enlightenment and contemplation of spirit. This
awakening of soul has no reference to God. According to Hindu teachings, the whole world is a
samsara. It consists of endless series of rebirths, where life is a suffering and stagnancy. The world
around is an illusion. Nevertheless, beyond samsara exists a real world, which is ruled by the ... Show

Nobody argues with such fate. The biggest chances to break out of samsara are representatives of the
highest priestly caste. Buddhism professes this principle in opportunities to attain the supreme grace.
It does not appreciate caste society. In addition, Buddhism is focusing solely on the individual and his
conscience.
Hinduism is an amorphous religion. It has no single founder, does not constitute a single religion with
specific dogma, and consists of many apprenticeships which have the same roots, but often include
contradictory. Buddhism has a clear doctrine, though it is not a dogma. This movement is a system of
philosophical knowledge. Generally, Hinduism is a national religion of Indians. Hinduism is
unthinkable outside its boundries. Buddhism is a religion that is non national. It involves people with
different cultural traditions.
Buddhists have their own cultural and educational centers, their ideology. Buddhism, preaches social
and political indifference. In practice, they made a huge contribution to the organization of society and
its ethno political awareness of their values. Society, politics and history are diametrically far for the
followers of Hinduism. Hinduism is indifferent and unavailable for alteration or changes. Buddhism is
more dynamic concept and it is attainable for renewal.
Place of emergence and spread of Hinduism is Indian subcontinent, where the

Compare And Contrast Marriage And Marriage
Do you know a couple that has been dating for years, but has never really taken the next step to
becoming married? Many couples have settled with just dating in today s world. This may be because
they haven t become ready for that next stage in life. Maybe they know how different dating is from
being married, how big of a change it ll be for them. A lot of adults who have kids are not even
married, this stems from generations of non marital relationships. As a result, their kids see no reason
for marriage or they may think that marriage is a bad thing because they have been scarred seeing that
their parents have divorced. Both dating and being married have their positives as well as negatives.
Commitment to a marriage and in just dating is totally different. In a marriage, the commitment
between the two people is supposed to be a lifelong commitment, till death do you part . It is also a
very sacred form of commitment in that it shows your relationship with God as well as your family. If
you were to commit adultery, which means to cheat or lie on your partner, within your marriage it
could cause not only legal problems but, far more serious problems as well. On the contrary, dating is
just the beginning stages. Although it is best to stay committed, it is not as big as a marriage. In a
regular relationship, a person can cheat and not be held accountable for their actions because it is not
as serious as a marriage. Partners are still technically allowed to do as

Ancient Egypt Similarities
Religion had always been an important object in people s lives for decades. Each religion had its own
beliefs, rituals, and gods. In Ancient Egypt, there were multiple gods who control different places.
Their religion also includes magic, mythology, and science. The people in Egypt believed life on Earth
is only part of the eternal journey. They needed to live an earnest life on Earth and continue their
journey in the afterlife. People in Egypt hinge on each other to complete their task and produce
pleasure as it was the will of the gods. The Egyptians worship every single god and earn good deeds
while they were alive, because they wanted to continue their journey after they die. Each Egyptian god
performed on different tasks, because there were too many tasks for just one god to handle and each
god had their own abilities. Nevertheless, it made Egypt better by performing the tasks efficiently.
There were over 2000 different Egyptian gods, their similarities were the ways they looked like. They
all had human body with a head of an animal or a bird. People in Egypt believed those animals had
divine powers, therefore, those animals were often buried with decorated grave and near human. The
gods started from the nine gods of Ennead. The sun god and eight of his off springs. God of creation

Sir George Etienne Cartier, The Real Father Of Confederation
On July 1st 1867, British colonies the Province of Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia united to
form a new country. This was a very important event in history that created very important people. It
is very much debatable who the real father of confederation is, for example you could argue Sir John
A Macdonald was more important in uniting the provinces. Debating, who is the real father of
confederation is rather pointless because Sir George Étienne Cartier is the real father of confederation.
George Etienne Cartier was born on September 6, 1814 in St Antoine Rur Richelieu. For the first part
of his education he was homeschooled by his mother as a result of no schools. At 10 years old, he was
enrolled in Sulpician college de Montreal. In 1831, he finished school and began his legal training at
the age of 20 at a montreal s lawyer s office called Edouard Etienne Rodier.
On November 9th 1835, he was called to the bar of lower Canada. Amid the time he was in the
process of completing his legal training he worked with Joseph Papineau and Robert Nelson. On June
24th 1835 he sung a song he had composed himself by the name of O Canada mon pays, mes amours
at a banquet that honoured the birth of St Jean Baptiste Association . The year later he sung another
song that he composed called Avant tout je suis canadien which later became a rally call for French
Canadian militants at another banquet. Both these songs became an instant success and were
considered very patriotic.

Mannerist Paintings
Paintings from the High Renaissance and Mannerist Period Mannerism emerged and rejected the
classical Greco Roman art in the 1520s, which constituted to the Renaissance era. The Mannerist
works challenged the Renaissance style and the interest in human anatomy, perspective, and
proportion (Kleiner 600). In contrast to the Late Renaissance painters where they were inclined to
create naturalistic art, Mannerist painters honed in creating art that was unrealistic by portraying
ambiguous space, unusual presentations of traditional themes, and removing the limitations of
expected conventions (Kleiner 643). The Venetian representative of Mannerism is Jacopo Robusti
(Kleiner 636). He is known as Tintoretto, and one of his most famous paintings is Last Supper.
Another great Venetian master was Paolo Caliari of Verona (Kleiner 637). He is known as Paolo
Veronese, and he painted Christ in the House of Levi. It is beneficial to one s knowledge in
understanding the similarities and differences in size, content, composition and form of these two
paintings. Furthermore, it is fascinating how these two works reflect and how they were influenced by
their time and culture; moreover, one is able to perceive the era in which the two paintings were

cover him. Which is why when he refused to show up for Fox News GOP debate shortly after the
Iowa caucuses, because Megyn Kelly was going to be co moderating the debate and he did not enjoy
her line of questioning. Without the presence of Donald J Trum, the Fox News debate immediately
took a big hit in the ratings. And within a few short months, Megyn Kelly had to schedule a meeting
with Donald Trump at Trump Tower to clear the air . The meeting was brokered by none other than the
Chairman of Fox News Roger Ailes. Soon after the meeting, Fox News issued an official statement,
Kelly has acknowledged in recent interviews that Trump is a fascinating person to cover and has
electrified the Republican base. Shortly after the meeting with Kelly, Ailes himself sat down with
Trump in a sepearate meeting before releasing the aforementioned official statement. (Stelter,

Symbolism In A Thousand Splendid Suns
Khaled Hosseini, the author of A Thousand Splendid Suns, focuses on the predicament of women in
Afghanistan using the symbol of the burqa which demonstrates the oppressive character of men and
the smothering outcomes of submission.
The novel takes place in Afghanistan, in a period where it s a male dominated society and women are
mistreated in the name of Islam. At this time women are only seen for their ability to bear children
which will allow the family lineage to continue. They are also required to wear a burqa, which is a
piece of clothing that covers the face but at times reveals the eye. Mariam, a female lead in the novel,
feels as if the burqa compresses against her mouth which silences her and makes it difficult for her to
breathe. Burqas symbolize how women are inferior to the male race in society and the fact that wives
are obedient to their husbands in a family. After Mariam gets married, she realizes her husband too
will impose this unjust preconception, Where I come from, a woman s face is her husband s business
only. I want you to remember that. Do you understand? (65). Women are obliged to be covered at all
times unless they are at homes with their husbands. This layer of cloth has the ability to seclude
women from society.
Women from the higher class in Afghanistan do not have this unfair prejudice forced onto them. They
had the freedom to wear makeup, skirts, and were put on the same pedestal as their husbands.
However Mariam belongs to lower class and

Exploring Inferential Statistics and Their Discontents
What are degrees of freedom? The degrees of freedom (df) of an estimate is the number or function of
sample size of information on which the estimate is based and are free to vary relating to the sample
size (Jackson, 2012; Trochim Donnelly, 2008).
How are the calculated? The degrees of freedom for an estimate equals the number of values minus
the number of factors expected en route to the approximation in question. Therefore, the degrees of
freedom of an estimate of variance is equal to N 1, where N is the number of observations (Jackson,
2012). Given a single set of six numbers (N) the df = 6 1 = 5.
What do inferential statistics allow you to infer? Inferential statistics establish the methods for the

What are your options if your dependent variable scores are not normally distributed? Transformation
of data using a logarithm, square root, reciprocal, or some other function assists in normalizing the
data and correcting for heteroscedasiticy, nonlinearity, and outliers when one or more variables are not
normally distributed (Abrams, 1999; Bland Altman, 1996). The extent of the deviations from
normality determines the specific transformation used. A moderate difference in normality uses a
square root transformation, more substantially non normal uses a log transformation, and severely non
normal would use an inverse transformation (Abrams, 1999). The aim of data transformation allows
for changing the non normal distributed population data into more useful variable and is not
uncommon as the basic statistical summaries such as the sample mean, variance, z scores, histograms,
etc., are all transformed data and require the data follow a particular distribution (Bland Altman, 1996;
Trochim Donnelly, 2008).
Part II
What does p = .05 mean?
P = .05, or p value, is a probability measurement that the confidence of the research questions or null
hypothesis is correct and has a less than 5 percent observed outcome on a normal distribution curve
thus having statistically significant. The p value is the prospect that null hypothesis is actually correct;
however, criticisms of various scholars believe in science that nearly everything is impossible to

Independent Vs Assisted Living
Are you an empty nester who is currently thinking of downsizing to a smaller, more cozy home? Are
you looking at your options and trying to figure out what best suits your living style? Are you
confused between the differences between independent and assisted living? These questions and
answers will give you the information you need to make the right choice for your lifestyle: Medical
care: Independent living is for seniors that require little day to day professional medical attention. A
senior in an independent living community may be unable to handle some chores, such as pushing a
heavy lawnmower or completely washing their windows. But they are still able to do most things
without the help of other people. Assisted living is for those

International Income Tax
Question 1. The source method of tax collection generally involves the primary right of a country a
business is using as its main location of trading to tax this business according to its income. This is a
general international state practice, which is also anchored in double taxation agreements. The source
system means that income is taxed in the country where the income originates, regardless of factors
such as physical or legal residence of the person or entity receiving the income. The source system is
based on the fact that the business or entity receiving the income is making use of the source country s
resources. Additionally, such a system also implicates fair competition between taxpayers among
various jurisdictions. Income from lotteries, gambling, personal injury awards, gifts, and capital gains
are not characterized as source incomes in a country, which means that such earnings are not subjected
to this type of income tax. Another interesting point is that source system countries have extended
their taxation scope by considering certain types of income that do not have a true source as sourced
within their jurisdictions, such as dividends. These are then also deemed taxable by the countries
involved. The source based method differs from the residence method of taxation in that a country
considers a person who has earned income within its borders as subject to taxes payable to the
authority of that country. The residence system, on the other hand,

Utilitarianism In Star Wars
In the original trilogy the protagonists are underdogs, however, in the prequels, the supposed good
guys are shown to be a powerful combination of government and military lead by monastic warriors.
The structure of the Jedi order and their influence over a republican senate closely resembles the
relationship between the Roman Catholic church, the Knights templar, and western European
countries. Christendom historically was a socio religious community that became corrupted by greedy
individuals. It transformed into a geopolitical, secular power controlled by the wealthy and imposed
its will by force. This conception of corruption and war profiteering is depicted in the Star Wars films
when looking at how the senate enlists the Jedi as generals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One side inspires the people to go after the other because of one act of aggression perpetrated by only
one sect of the particular side. History and narrative coincide when observing a very political war with
the strings pulled by competing religions. The republic fears disunity as planets align with the
separatists just as Europeans feared a shrinking Christendom and growing Islamic state. Even though
most of Europe was unaffected by the military advancements made by Turks and Ottomans, Pope
Urban II rallied all the people to fight for control of land all the way across the known world from

The Colonialism And Historiography Of The Colonial Revival
The Colonial Revival is a phenomenon that materialized as a national expression of American culture
from the 1870s to its peak between 1880 and 1940. The Colonial Revival was more about ideology
but most often manifested itself through decorative arts and architecture. Elements of pseudo colonial
furniture, arts and architecture symbolically served as tools to promote the republican ideas of
democracy, patriotism and moral superiority. In many ways the Colonial Revival was a direct reaction
to the side effects of Industrialization and progress. Ironically many times participants of the revival
used modern techniques as a means to accomplish their singular goal. Historian Alan Axelrod argues,
Colonialism is not a surface phenomenon, a thin verneer over the real body of American life, but a
network of communications and linkages that reach deep into American experience and behavior.
Historians examine the movement from various perspectives; the Colonial Revival as a social and
cultural movement, its representation in U.S. material culture, and its significance to immigration and
nationalism. Scholarship includes everything from Alan Axelrod s The Colonial Revival in America
from 1985 to Briann G. Greenfield s Out of the Attic: Antiques in Twentieth Century New England
from 2009. A variety of monographs and collections of essays will be analyzed to determine
correlations and points of dissent within the historiography of the Colonial

Video Games Call Of Duty
One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play
violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to
becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate.
This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent
person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem.
One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This
game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion
what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to
watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children.
When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for
them.
When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times
they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their
opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game
violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! In hopes to end the video games that
correlate to violence the government plans to take action. The state Rep. of Missouri, Diane Franklin,
has brought

Courtship in Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare The themes of love, marriage and courtship are an important part of Much Ado about nothing ; they are presented in a way that reflects the attitudes of the society at that time. I will explore the different attitudes of modern audiences and Shakespeare s audience towards these themes in the play. The two examples of relationships I have chosen are Beatrice and Benedick s and Hero and Claudio s. This is because I think they are in contrast with each other, at the beginning of the play it appears that Hero and Claudio will be the perfect couple formed in a conventional way, Claudio goes through the right channels and their marriage is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Shakespeare s plays present love as unpredictable, as there are many images of cupid in Much Ado as well as love at first sight in his other plays such as in Romeo and Juliet. Beatrice and Benedick s relationship appeals more to a modern audience, they are direct and confident in expressing their own opinions and the opinion that they have of each other. Even when Beatrice and Benedick are in agreement with each other that is, that they are against marriage, they cannot help but quarrel. Benedick: God keep your ladyship in that mind so some gentlemen or other shall scape a predestinate scratched face Beatrice: scratching could not make it worse and t were such a face as yours. This constant bickering between Beatrice and Benedick is a passion which their relationship is built upon, each are intuitive they echo the others language. They are not wooing in the expected ways because their relationship is one of equals. This is in contrast to the way that Hero and Claudio court; he cannot imagine Hero as a passionate and sexual being but as a brother to a sister showed bashful sincerity . The way in which the two couples communicate with each other gives the audience a useful insight into how well they know each other. • 5. Who Is Responsible For The Injury Of The Post Surgical... The case that has been presented in this unit is who is responsible for the injury that the post surgical patient has suffered. In order to justify who is the party at fault, one must look at all aspect as to what lead up to the permanent damage to the patient s left leg. Malpractice is negligence by a professional (Singh, 2006, pp 19). In this case, there has been proven to be negligence, but how many parties should be held responsible is the question. The standard of care can be different in each facility and it is up to the nurses to know what the quality of care should be when dealing with patients (Singh, 2006). In this case, I believe that both the night shift nurse and the day shift nurse should be held accountable for the damage done to this patient. Negligence can happen for several reasons when it comes to nursing staff. The can be overworked nurses, to many patients, lack of staffing, or poor documentation. There are four areas that must be met when trying to determine a malpractice claim. These areas are duty to patient, breach of duty to patient, injury to patient, and causal relationship between breach of duty and harm or injury (Diemert, 2012, pp 6). Duty to the patient is when a nurse is assigned to a floor or specified rooms that have patients who require their direct care. They are to make sure that the physician s orders are followed. The Million Man march aimed to raise awareness of the importance of African American rights, to show African Americans value to society, and to promote unity between African American communities. One of the goals of the Million Man March was to raise awareness for African Americans rights. The importance of the Million Man March was to show America and themselves that African Americans are able to come together on issues. • 7. Hollywood Comparison Of Pride And Prejudice Jane Austen s famous novel Pride and Prejudice has had many film adaptations over the years. Two of the most popular are the 1995 miniseries, and the 2005 Hollywood film. Both of these films have many similarities, as well as many differences, and they both have strong points when representing the novel and the Regency Period. However, the 1995 miniseries takes the cake when it comes to accuracy. The miniseries is much longer than the movie, and as such, it gives more time for the characters to grow and develop. The movie feels much more rushed; the pacing is too fast. The movie also gives a more modern feel about love and romance. It is far more dramatic, and overly emotional, such as the initial proposal between Darcy and Elizabeth. It took place out in the open, on a rainy day, rather than privately in a home. The movie Elizabeth is more sensational and exciting, shouting her emotions, rather than explaining them in a calm and collected manner like 1995 Elizabeth. ... • 8. The Controversy Of Nuclear Weapons Essay The previously accepted nature of war stemmed from the Clausewitzian trinity: war is emotional, an experience wrought with passion, violence, and enmity; uncertainty, chance, and friction pervade the medium of war; however, because war is not an end in itself, and because, as a means, it is subordinate to its political aims, war must be subject to reason (Clausewitz, 89). With the first employment of nuclear weapons, however, strategists and military theorists began to question Clausewitz s foundational ideas (Winkler, 58). Similarly, Allan Winkler, in agreeing with Bernard Brodie s thesis, opines that the advent of nuclear weapons fundamentally changed the nature of war. Winkler s assertion stems from his argument that such a nuclear duel would yield a post war environment incapable of recovery for any parties involved (62). He further describes Brodie s realization that [t]he atomic bomb is not just another and more destructive weapon to be added to an already long list. It is something which threatens to make the rest of the list relatively unimportant. (62) Ultimately, Winkler abridges Brodie s assessment in stating that the United States was caught in the paradox of having to prepare for a war it did not plan to fight. (63) The American doctrine of deterrence stemmed from the development of nuclear weapons. Strategic analysts, using this development as a point of departure, recognized that a nuclear capability established a defense scenario that was, in fact, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Essay On Muscle Contraction The Correlation between Eccentric Strength and Agility in Male Field Sport Athletes. There are three types of muscle contraction, isotonic, isometric and isokinetic. There are two isotonic contractions, concentric and eccentric. A concentric contraction is a shortening of the muscle fibres, an example of this being a bicep curl causing a concentric contraction on the biceps brachii causing the elbow to flex. An eccentric contraction is the opposite of this. During an eccentric contraction as the muscle contracts the muscle fibres lengthen. An eccentric contraction is important in deceleration where the quadriceps lengthen to slow down the limb. This type of contraction should transfer into agility as athletes with greater eccentric strength ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agility has been described as a rapid whole body movement with change of velocity or direction in response to a stimulus . (Sheppard et al, 2006) This description identifies the inclusion of cognitive skills in determining agility. This definition applies to open skills only. Open skills cannot be pre planned, however closed skills, such as sprinting or previously planned changes of direction, can be planned in advance. This is very important in every field sport as the ability to react quickly and allow the movements to match these reactions enhances performance. Many field sports require straight line running speed but more often than not fast change of direction is a defining factor of an athlete s performance. Fast change of direction speed and ability to make the right decision in a game situation makes for an excellent athlete. Many tests have been designed to test for change of direction speed. The 5 0 5 test is a timed agility test using rapid 180 degree turns and straight line speed. The Illinois test is a timed agility test using straight line speed and many multi directional changes. The Zig zag test is a good indication of multiple directional changes. It is a timed test where the athlete must round cones set out in a figure 8. So I started to read Nietzsche s works. This question cannot be answered as black and white as people want it to, because technology is constantly developing, thus changing the arms that people may have in the future. In the same way that the framers could never have anticipated the current day weaponry, we could never anticipate the weaponry that may be developed one hundred years from now. For example, theoretically, if the United States were to ban the use of any automatic weapons, some problems may be halted for now. However, if in fifty years from now, a new form of weaponry that can fire nuclear missiles from a handgun is released, this problem will simply restart again because now more restrictions have to be put in place. However, by giving the government the ability to halt the civilian exposure to these weapons in the first place, similar problems will not occur because the weaponry will never fall in civilian hands. Other people seem to uphold the opinion that the right to bear arms is outdated and we should get rid of the amendment completely in order to ensure that everyone is safe. Their belief is that you should not have to stop a bad person with a gun by risking a good person with a gun. (A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn about the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent, all we know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and what is just a captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up to portray ideals or tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some scholars believe that some of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and saying that Socrates believed in them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates believed everything that is recorded in Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic, is extremely intriguing because of the way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers everything in a way that avoids actually answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is talking with to think for themselves so he never gives a definitive answer when asked a question. Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double meanings. It is also a very sacred form of commitment in that it shows your relationship with God as well as your family. If you were to commit adultery, which means to cheat or lie on your partner, within your marriage it could cause not only legal problems but, far more serious problems as well. On the contrary, dating is just the beginning stages. Although it is best to stay committed, it is not as big as a marriage. • 42. Symbolism In A Thousand Splendid Suns Khaled Hosseini, the author of A Thousand Splendid Suns, focuses on the predicament of women in Afghanistan using the symbol of the burqa which demonstrates the oppressive character of men and the smothering outcomes of submission. The novel takes place in Afghanistan, in a period where it s a male dominated society and women are mistreated in the name of Islam. At this time women are only seen for their ability to bear children which will allow the family lineage to continue. They are also required to wear a burqa, which is a piece of clothing that covers the face but at times reveals the eye. Mariam, a female lead in the novel, feels as if the burqa compresses against her mouth which silences her and makes it difficult for her to breathe. Burqas symbolize how women are inferior to the male race in society and the fact that wives are obedient to their husbands in a family. After Mariam gets married, she realizes her husband too will impose this unjust preconception, Where I come from, a woman s face is her husband s business only. I want you to remember that. Do you understand? (65). Women are obliged to be covered at all times unless they are at homes with their husbands. This layer of cloth has the ability to seclude women from society. Women from the higher class in Afghanistan do not have this unfair prejudice forced onto them. They had the freedom to wear makeup, skirts, and were put on the same pedestal as their husbands. However Mariam belongs to lower class and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Exploring Inferential Statistics and Their Discontents What are degrees of freedom? The degrees of freedom (df) of an estimate is the number or function of sample size of information on which the estimate is based and are free to vary relating to the sample size (Jackson, 2012; Trochim Donnelly, 2008). How are the calculated? The degrees of freedom for an estimate equals the number of values minus the number of factors expected en route to the approximation in question. Therefore, the degrees of freedom of an estimate of variance is equal to N 1, where N is the number of observations (Jackson, 2012). Given a single set of six numbers (N) the df = 6 1 = 5. What do inferential statistics allow you to infer? Inferential statistics establish the methods for the analyses used for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What are your options if your dependent variable scores are not normally distributed? Transformation of data using a logarithm, square root, reciprocal, or some other function assists in normalizing the data and correcting for heteroscedasiticy, nonlinearity, and outliers when one or more variables are not normally distributed (Abrams, 1999; Bland Altman, 1996). The extent of the deviations from normality determines the specific transformation used. A moderate difference in normality uses a square root transformation, more substantially non normal uses a log transformation, and severely non normal would use an inverse transformation (Abrams, 1999). The aim of data transformation allows for changing the non normal distributed population data into more useful variable and is not uncommon as the basic statistical summaries such as the sample mean, variance, z scores, histograms, etc., are all transformed data and require the data follow a particular distribution (Bland Altman, 1996; Trochim Donnelly, 2008). Part II What does p = .05 mean? P = .05, or p value, is a probability measurement that the confidence of the research questions or null hypothesis is correct and has a less than 5 percent observed outcome on a normal distribution curve thus having statistically significant. The p value is the prospect that null hypothesis is actually correct; however, criticisms of various scholars believe in science that nearly everything is impossible to ... • 45. International Income Tax Question 1. The source method of tax collection generally involves the primary right of a country a business is using as its main location of trading to tax this business according to its income. This is a general international state practice, which is also anchored in double taxation agreements. The source system means that income is taxed in the country where the income originates, regardless of factors such as physical or legal residence of the person or entity receiving the income. The source system is based on the fact that the business or entity receiving the income is making use of the source country s resources. Additionally, such a system also implicates fair competition between taxpayers among various jurisdictions. Income from lotteries, gambling, personal injury awards, gifts, and capital gains are not characterized as source incomes in a country, which means that such earnings are not subjected to this type of income tax. Another interesting point is that source system countries have extended their taxation scope by considering certain types of income that do not have a true source as sourced within their jurisdictions, such as dividends. These are then also deemed taxable by the countries involved. The source based method differs from the residence method of taxation in that a country considers a person who has earned income within its borders as subject to taxes payable to the authority of that country. The residence system, on the other hand, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The structure of the Jedi order and their influence over a republican senate closely resembles the relationship between the Roman Catholic church, the Knights templar, and western European countries. Christendom historically was a socio religious community that became corrupted by greedy individuals. • 47. The Colonialism And Historiography Of The Colonial Revival The Colonial Revival is a phenomenon that materialized as a national expression of American culture from the 1870s to its peak between 1880 and 1940. The Colonial Revival was more about ideology but most often manifested itself through decorative arts and architecture. Elements of pseudo colonial furniture, arts and architecture symbolically served as tools to promote the republican ideas of democracy, patriotism and moral superiority. In many ways the Colonial Revival was a direct reaction to the side effects of Industrialization and progress. Ironically many times participants of the revival used modern techniques as a means to accomplish their singular goal. Historian Alan Axelrod argues, Colonialism is not a surface phenomenon, a thin verneer over the real body of American life, but a network of communications and linkages that reach deep into American experience and behavior. Historians examine the movement from various perspectives; the Colonial Revival as a social and cultural movement, its representation in U.S. material culture, and its significance to immigration and nationalism. Scholarship includes everything from Alan Axelrod s The Colonial Revival in America from 1985 to Briann G. Greenfield s Out of the Attic: Antiques in Twentieth Century New England from 2009. • 48. Video Games Call Of Duty One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate. This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem. One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children. When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for them. When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! In hopes to end the video games that correlate to violence the government plans to take action. The state Rep. of Missouri, Diane Franklin, has brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
