Analysis Of One Art By Elizabeth Bishop
One Art Poetry Analysis
One art is poem written by Elizabeth Bishop discussing loss and the role it plays in the world. The
poem conveys a powerful message subtly hidden in the speaker s use of connotation and denotation.
In addition to the multiple connotations of loss in the poem, repetition and sound coupled together add
meaning overall to the poem. The form of the poem contributes to the uses of repetition and
connotation to emphasize the ease of loss.
In the poem as seen throughout much of it the speaker uses sound and repetition heavily through the
length of the poem. The poem itself is a mirror into the author, Elizabeth Bishop s, life and losses she s
collected throughout her lifetime. Upon research into Bishop the poem can easily be seen as a
autobiographical piece. In the poem the speaker confesses to losing two cities, lovely ones Bishop lost
her husband to suicide some years prior to having written the poem. Many of the losses described in
the poem are personal anecdotes straight from Bishops life. The poem casually denotes the losses
experienced in Bishops life creating a casual and ironic tone throughout the length of the poem.
Specifically the poem is a villanelle, a 19 line poem with two rhymes throughput the poem consisting
of five tercets and a quatrain. In One Art the repeating lines are The art of losing isn t hard to master
and Disaster , the end of every stanza in the poem the stanza ends with either of the two. In every the
poem builds upon

A Summary OfI Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
Lost. What a standard term. One that is often associated with a child wandering off in a grocery store,
or somebody taking the wrong turn and not arriving at the correct destination. But the trouble is that it
is hardly ever associated with anything deeper, such as the human soul. Yet the reality is, everybody s
soul is indeed a little bit lost. And if not lost, at least diverted to a path of pure monotony that drives
them to forget the importance of the little things in life. An example of this concept is the poem I
Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker is
wandering through life without purpose. He is simply living a life that he no longer feels any form of
connection towards. But then he comes across a field of dancing daffodils and his perspective changes
entirely to one of pure joy and ease with his life. Through his application of simile, symbolism, and
personification, in his work, the speaker makes his poem far more meaningful. The use of these
devices helps to shape the poem s central idea, that is when one stops roaming aimlessly through
everyday life and pays attention, they can discover the true beauties that are present in the world and
learn to appreciate them a little bit more.
One of the main figurative language elements that the speaker uses within his poem is a simile. The
title of the poem itself, as well as the first line are repeating similes. The speaker uses this component
in the lines I wandered

Essay on Strategic Management and Business Policy
Strategic Management and Business Policy July 21, 2007 Brief History of Nissan/Renault: In 1990 the
consolidation auto industry was increasing cost of developing more sophisticated vehicles and
worldwide production overcapacity. Both Nissan and Renault were eagerly looking for a partner to
compete in the 21st century. Nissan was rebuffed by both Chrysler and Ford. Renault was turned away
by other Japanese automakers that made both companies reach an agreement on a global alliance in
1999. The combination made sense that both companies main sales territories and production were
corresponding. Renault needed Nissan and Nissan needed Renault due to the production side of the

road to progress. If needed shut down a few plants that aren t making productivity, move the previous

the vehicles don t come back with complaints, trades and loss in money. This way the consumer and
the employee are happy with what they bought and sold. (Green Car, 2006) Balancing: In order to

Essay about Alternative Medicine
Alternative Medicine
Although Alternative or Complementary medicine has been kept on the fringes of the medical
sciences in the past, it is becoming increasingly more popular, and more reputable. Alternative
medicines are those medical systems which are not taught to or practiced by most conventional
medical doctors. Alternative medicines seemingly have always existed, changing and conforming to
the current climate of society. There seems to be an almost endless number of alternative medicines,
each with their own method of gaining perfect health. Often people who are dissatisfied with
conventional medicine turn to alternative medicine for their medical needs. Many similarities link the
diverse extremities of alternative medicine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scientific community is much quicker to label this second type as quacks, whereas the scientific
community has failed to gain a consensus on the legitimacy of the first type. Unfortunately, both are
encompassed by the term alternative medicine. This paper will focus on the more controversial
alternative medicines described in the first group.
By examining some of the most popular, enduring alternative medical systems, one can begin to see
some general trends of the systems, understand some recurring flaws, and understand the attraction
and usefulness of alternative medicine in today s health care system. However, alternative medicine
remains controversial. Whether it can be supported scientifically or not, alternative medicine may be
useful to encourage both physical and mental well being via a placebo effect. For this reason,
alternative medicine must be considered by physicians as a complement to modern medicine.
Description of alternative medical systems (including a brief history and background):
Chiropractic treatment:
Chiropractic is one of the most respected and most prominent of alternative medicine practices.
Although many people would only consider visiting a chiropractor for the alleviation of pain caused
by musculoskeletal problems, chiropractic beliefs involve much more than just muscle manipulation.

Myasthenia Gravis Case Study
Myasthenia Gravis(MG) is an auto immune disorder characterized by sudden dysarthria, which affects
muscles that help produce speech, causing difficultly to pronounce words. But other symptoms
include, droopy eye lids, muscle weakness and difficulty swallowing. Because of the sudden
dysarthria, many elderly people are being misdiagnosed for possible strokes. Due to the great extent of
the misdiagnoses of MG, researchers did a study presenting four subjects that had been presented to
the ER with history of hypertension and sudden onset dysarthria. After considering the patients in each
study, researchers found that all patients were initially misdiagnosed and treated for strokes, therefore
prolonging the correct diagnose of MG and the correct form of treatment for these patients. Once each

When the symptoms got worse, the doctor ordered an anti acetylcholine receptor antibody test, that
came back highly positive. Immediately, the medications that she was previously on for a stroke was
stopped and she was treated with Pyridostigmine and steroids, which slowly improved her symptoms.
In cases two, three, and four, each patient experienced a fairly similar situation. Every patient was
suddenly struck by dysarthria, that did not improve over a few hours, which made them end up at the
ER. At this time, doctors diagnosed and treated these patients as if they had a stroke, and once again
when symptoms did not improve, further testing was done, and an antibody test tested positive for
myasthenia gravis. Just like in the first case study patient, when these patients were correctly
diagnosed and treated properly, they reported improvement of their symptoms or their symptoms were

Why Cheerleaders Should Not Be Banned
Are cheerleaders important to sport games? Isn t there enough cheering from the crowd? Everyone is
entitled to their own opinions, but there is no point in having cheerleaders perform on the side and at
half time on the football field. Cheerleaders could just become dancers if they want to perform so
badly. Cheerleaders should not be included in football games because there are enough people to cheer
in the stands. Cheerleaders are a lot like dancers besides the fact that they are cheering on a team.
Love to Know says cheerleading is not a sport because the only sport like things they do are routines
but have nothing to do with sports itself. Some websites say that cheerleading has nothing to do with
competing and therefore should not be a sport. Another website says cheerleaders should be
considered as athletes because they do physical activities. The last website says cheerleading has some

Just because girls can do everything does not mean they should show off their bodies. It s their choice
but there are a lot of safety risks that go down with cheerleading. Most men love it, it s the wives who
don t. And they use their position as Moms to say it s bad for the kids too. What garbage. Kids see fit,
happy, athletic beautiful women dancing and earning good money. This is very sexist and incorrect.
Not all men love it and not all wives disagree with the fact cheerleaders should not be banned. Kids do
not see happy, athletic, and beautiful women because most kids do not waste their time watching
cheerleading or focusing on the fact that these women are beautiful happy and athletic. Cheerleading
should be banned because while most people think cheerleaders are beautiful it s because they are
made to look a certain way otherwise they will be kicked off the team. Most people think cheerleaders

What Is The Tone Of The Scarlet Letter By Hester Prynne
D.H Lawrence a British writer critiques the novel s Scarlet Letters heroine and gives his opinions on
her in a persuasive, argumentative manner in his critical essay called On The Scarlet Letter. He
believes that the heroine of the novel is not the beloved character readers believe she is. Using literary
techniques like an ironclad tone, abrupt syntax and biblical allusions Lawrence convince s people that
the beloved American heroine Hester Prynne is truly a conniving adulteress who thrives off of stealing
a man s purity and possibly his soul.
The demanding, ironclad, persuasive tone Lawrence uses throughout his work makes the reader notice
his strong opinion.. He writes that the Scarlet Letter is perhaps the most colossal satire ever ... Show

Harsh and abrupt syntax shoots literary bullets at Hester Prynne s character and rips holes into it that
has not been seen before and Nathaniel Hawthorne in Lawrence s assessment of the Scarlet Letter.
Bullets get his point across accurately and properly. The sentences are written in a bullet point format
which launches his opinions with rigor. Lawrence s pinpointed syntax with line by line criticism
leaves no room for the reader to ponder what he is saying. This makes the writer and the audience
connect and believe what that Hester is longer a victim but, the antagonist. What Lawrence is saying
through his exact and precise structure comes through seamlessly to the audience without a doubt.
Consequently, he uses short and to the point sentences like A.The Scarlet Letter. Adulteress! The great
Alpha. Alpha! Alpha! Adulteress! to get his points across and tear apart Hester Prynne (Lawrence).
Lawrence wants his audience to see that Hester herself is the Scarlet Letter and the Scarlet Letter is
also Hester. The abrupt, harsh, and disruptive syntax is used to persuade the audience into seeing the
truth behind the curtain that is Hester Prynne while, she is being ripped from limb to limb with the
bullets Lawrence is throwing . He does his best to make his sentences spew at the reader in an
organized pattern that allows his thoughts to be conveyed exactly the way he wants.

The Leadership Of The Organizational Leadership
The organizational leadership drivers have been historically and predominantly filled with male
leaders. Determined factors, however fictitious, in writing, as well as perceived by organizational
Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), shareholders, Owners, and
employees, female leaders were viewed through the stereotypical categories that included limitations.
Moreover, gender discriminating society professes the positions for men and women would not be
compensated equally. Correlating differences in gender leadership is not as fictional as it may appear.
The discovery of a biochemical distinction between the genders may bring some credibility to the
historical insights. While men do have higher levels of testosterone and women have higher levels of
oxytocin, men and women behaviors are directly affected in speaking up and in connectedness
(Moskowitz, 2015). Merit to these perceptions may be in question. Even though women have been
exceedingly surpassing males in scholastic academics, researchers persistently dispute the differences
in leadership abilities and capabilities. The majority of investigators believe the important differences
in genders leadership are derived from the differences in power, status, and additional influences
related to the gender over the educational level. Mindful that gender discrimination has extensively
occurred which resulted in men being linked to leadership traits; this has implied men have greater

Evolution Of Cats Essay
The house cat has been a favored companion for many years. Their small size and independent
tendencies makes them ideal pets for those who do not want a high maintenance animal. They are
quirky and show lots of love if you take care of them. Cats are complex animals, but can be great pets.
They have their own way of doing things, but still can be a great companion. They have gone through
a lot throughout the years, yet still have barely changed. Cats are interesting in their own ways, both
their history and personalities.
The cat s scientific name is Eukaryota Anamalia Chordata Mammalia Carnivora Felidae Felis catus (

They have special adaptations that they have acquired through time and evolution. On the outside, cats
have whiskers on their face that help them to navigate (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.12). They also
have cupped ears that can rotate to catch sound, which helps them to hunt (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008,
p.10). Their tongues are covered in papillae to help scrape food off of bones or to clean itself (Foss,
Stewart Swift, 2008, p.10). Their fur coats protect them from cold, bug bites, stings, and other
irritants, and can also be raised when frightened or threatened to seem larger in size (Foss, Stewart
Swift, 2008, p.10). Not easily seen are the sweat glands that cats only have on their paw pads (Foss,
Stewart Swift, 2008, p.11). Moving inward, cats have a very flexible spine, aiding them when falling
to land on their feet or to help them get into small spaces (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.12). Most cats
can see ultraviolet light (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.9). Evolution has favored night vision over
being able to see colors during the day (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.9). Another part of the cat s night
vision is that at the back of the eye, there is a layer of cells that reflects the light (Foss, Stewart Swift,
2008, p.9). Cats have to have a good sense of hearing and sight since they depend on that more than

Now That This Paper Has Evaluated Aquinas’S Summa Contra
Now that this paper has evaluated Aquinas s Summa Contra Gentiles, it will move on to evaluate his
next important work. In the years 1265 1274 Aquinas wrote what is considered one of his most
prominent works, The Summa Theologiae. In Summa Theologiae (also known as Suma Theologica or
simply Summa), Aquinas gave five proofs for the existence of God. This paper will first tell why these
proofs are necessary then describe the proofs in themselves. These proofs are necessary because
Aquinas believed that the existence of God is not self evident. A self evident proposition is one in
which the predicate forms part of what is meant by the subject (PUT, 103). Meaning that God exists is
not self evident because we cannot grasp divine essence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore anything that is in the process of changing cannot change itself so one thing is changed by
another which in turn is changed by yet another (Clark, 122). Eventually, this stream of change has to
stop somewhere or else there would be no first cause of change and consequently no subsequent
causes. So when we come to the first cause that is not changed by anything else, Aquinas believed it is
what we understand to be God (Clark, 122 123).
The second proof is derived from the nature of causation. Aquinas thought that in the natural world we
find causes in a natural order of succession. We never see something causing itself because if we did
then it would be pre existing and this would be impossible (Clark, 123). Every first cause impacts an
intermediate (there can be many intermediates) which then impacts a last. You cannot take out any one
cause without getting rid of its effects (Clark, 123). So you cannot take out the first cause without
losing the intermediates and last causes that follow. Thus Aquinas thought that we must suppose a first
cause, which is God (Clark, 123). The third proof addresses the issue of what is unnecessary and what
is unnecessary. Our experience has shown us that in life there are things that are necessary and things
that are unnecessary. Things that are

The Basics on Brazil
Brazil
Brazil is an amazing and exiting country with all that you can do, including tours of the Amazon or
going to the beach or maybe even going to the huge statue of Christ the Redeemer. So with the many
things you can do, this is Brazil. So, Brazil occupies about half of South America, meaning Brazil
alone is larger than the contiguous United States of America (the original 48 states). Brazil is located
south of the equator, it borders the Atlantic Ocean, and is the largest country in South America. Brazil
occupies 3,287,557 square miles with 3,205,080 being land and 21,411 square miles being water.
Brazil borders most South American countries. Brazil s northern section is occupied by the Amazon
Rain forest while the south is plains that consist of swamps and marshes. The coast runs along the
east. There are also mountains including the Brazilian Highlands that run from the east to the north
and the go west to the Amazon. The north is tropical while the south is more temperate. Brazil is a
Federal Republic with 26 states. Their president and Chief of State is Dilma Rouseff. The president
holds office for four years and can run for an additional for years. There are 81 senators to each state.
The 1988 constitution change gives more powers to the federal government. The cabinet is chosen by

The Roller Coaster Is More Than Just A Thrill Ride
Today, Roller Coasters dominate amusement parks across the world. With 672 roller coasters in the

well as enjoyed. However, when the majority of the population thinks of this common ride all it s
known for is the excitement, butterflies, long waits in line, the speed and memories that come with it.
It seems no one could name where the first roller coaster was built, how they came about, or even any

It would get too warm, and the ice would melt, so the French began making wax slides. So, you can
see how even in the early days of the Roller Coaster was continuously changing to better suit thrill
lovers. It is still unknown who actually built the first wheeled roller coaster.
Robert Cartmell has given credit to the Russians. They supposedly built it in 1784 in the Gardens of
Oranienbaum in St. Petersburg, however, no actual evidence remains to prove this, other than an
engraving. More trustworthy evidence shows that France is responsible for adding wheels to the
slides. It has been proven that by 1817 two coasters were built in France called the Les Montagnes
Russes a Belleville and Promenades Aeriennes. The Russes a Belleville is believed to be the first
coaster with an axle that could lock the cart into place. The coasters had two tracks side try side, so the
axle could run between them. The Ariel Walk was the first to have two tracks traveling opposite each
other in a heart shaped layout. The first Roller Coaster with a loop was produced in Paris, France. It
had a 43 foot drop hill, followed by a 13 foot wide loop. Extensive testing took place before the ride
was opened.
The first American roller coaster was the Maunch Chunk Switchback Railway in the mountains of
Pennsylvania, built in the mid 1800 s. It was originally meant to send coal to a railway, but was

Contributions Of Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin was an intelligent man. He didn t exactly succeed in the school institution even
though his family was wealthy, they didn t help Darwin with his courses in college. Dr. Robert
Darwin, Darwin s father sent him to medical school at Edinburg but unfortunately, Darwin flunked out
and was sent to Cambridge University for ministry. At Cambridge his professor, John Henslow took
Darwin scientific studies seriously and introduced him to influential people like Captain Robert
Fitzroy of the royal navy. Darwin embarked on the HMS Beagle as Fitzroy s naturalist unpaid
companion. The caption was given two missions, completed a survey of the southern coast of South
American and to obtain more accurate fixes of longitudes by using new instruments. Darwin plans
were to observe and collect specimens on the voyage. One of Darwin s most significant discoveries
was his discovery of the finches located on the Galápagos Islands. The finches were a major key to
Darwin s theory of natural selection. Traveling in the HMS Beagle also gave Charles Darwin the idea
of the theory of evolution and natural selection.
Darwin s voyage on the beagle was single handed the most important and defining moment of his
career. The beagle was a navy vessel which carried approximately 75 individuals. Darwin had a
different position on the ship as his counterparts. His father paid his way on the beagle which gave

Jacobsen, Kent, Lee, Mather (2011) stated, Since women live longer than men in the United States,
women will continue to make up a majority of the older population in the foreseeable future (pg. 3).
Whereas, this age distribution among men and women are expected to remain approximately the same
between 2009 and 2030, there will be notable changes in the age and gender gap by 2050 as the gap
grows smaller (Jacobsen, Kent, Lee, Mather, 2011). Furthermore, according to Vincent Velkoff (2010),
by the year 2042 the United States will become more racially and ethnically diverse with the
combined minority population expected to become the majority. Thus, as people in the United States
age over the next several decades, the older population will also become a more racially and ethnically
diverse group. In addition, the overall age structure of the population is expected to change a great
deal over the next four decades (Vincent Velkoff, 2010). This will pose even more challenges to policy
makers and programs designed to help the elderly like Medicare and Social Security. Therefore, being
able to project the size and structure of the older population, in regards to age, sex, race, and Hispanic
origin is not only important to public interest, but also private both socially and economically (Vincent

Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in Nigeria
Abstract

to determine the extent to which the exploration of natural resources is managed in our country from
1960 till date. Also, given recommendations in which the resources can be managed.
CHAPTER ONE
1.0 Introduction
Nigeria is one of those countries in Africa that is fairly rich with natural resources. For example Crude
Oil, Coal, Iron, forest, farming, Fishing and so on. It is believed that natural resources development is
one of the factors that help the country in some many areas like employment opportunities, economy
and so on.

One fundamental premise for sustainable development is the recognition that environment and
development are not exclusive of one another but are complementary and inter dependent and in the
long run man mutually reinforcing (Ahmad and Sanny 1987). This complexity explains the difficulty
in operational zing the concept of sustainable Development. Yet there has been ever increasing
demand on the limited forest resources and the carrying capably of the fragile forest ecosystem. Under
the conditions of poverty for which Nigeria is known, the environment often exhibits the ravages of
long years of mismanagement as illustrated by high rate of deforestation, overgrazing, desertification
and endangering the forest species. In advanced countries, most forests are managed but in developing
countries like Nigeria, relatively few forests are formally managed. Much timber production in
Nigeria still comes from natural forest. The organized forest management is the Teak (tectona grandis)
plantations in the South West which have been bastardized by the military administrators of these
states in the 90s. Their impact favoured deforestation. This has generated public pressure to manage
forests. With this pressure and with much timber production, forests are now in demand for other
goods and services in fact, the goods of forest management are broadening. The

Comparing Nature in Wordsworth’s Ruined Cottage, and...
Comparing the Representation of Nature in Wordsworth s Ruined Cottage, and Coleridge s Rime of
the Ancient Mariner
For most poets of the Romantic Age, nature played an invaluable role in their works. Man s existence
could be affected and explained by the presence and portrayal of the external nature surrounding it.
William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge are no different from the other Romantic poets,
and their works abound with references to nature and its correlation to humanity. Specifically,
Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage and Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner share the theme
of nature affecting man, although essential differences exist in their ideas regarding how it affects
man. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth explains his choice in his preface to Lyrical Ballads, one of his most significant projects
co created with Coleridge: the principal object, then, which I proposed to myself in these poems was
to choose incidents and situations from common life...because in that condition the passions of men
are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature (Wordsworth 241). This
explanation of his work is applicable to the majority of Wordsworth s creations. In the case of The
Ruined Cottage, he uses nature to shadow the progression of decline in the woman of the peddler s
story, and also to provide the comforting concepts of hope and continuation of life.
Whereas Wordsworth treats nature as a means of understanding and mirroring the condition of man,
Coleridge takes a slightly different approach in his ballads. Instead of revealing the natural in its
purest form, without alteration, Coleridge adds his own special coloring. This can be seen in his
supernatural works, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the story of a seaman haunted after
needlessly killing an albatross. Watson describes Coleridge s nature as changer and enchanter,
supplying qualities of light unknown before. So the poet, by the power of his imagination, changes the
familiar into something rich and strange...Rime is filled with images that we recognize but which are
transformed by the context and narrative... (158). Coleridge recreates the sea and everything

Dealing With Cross Cultural Employee Problems
Summary/Background: Dealing with cross cultural employee problems can be very sensitive to
resolve because they can easily cross into allegations of discrimination and hostile work environment.
In accession, where there are employees, there will invariably be employees. The directors are the
unavoidably drawn into the resolution of employee problems. The employees can accept problems
with other employees or with their supervisors. Since cross cultural employee, problems can be

cultural dynamics that are emerging as demographics drives cultural changes in society and
organizations to levels experienced for the first time.
Defining the Types of Employee Problems: Cross cultural employee problems can be sorted into two
organizational relationships: the relations of the employee with other employees and with the
supervisor employee relationship. These troubles may originate from a simple cause or a manifest by
themselves differently because of the authority relationship inherent in the supervisor employee
relationship.
Irresolvable Employee To Employee Problems: For such problems, the only management solution is
to make explicit to the employees that expected behavior and the consequences of not correcting the
inappropriate behavior. Nowadays, if the behavior continues, the manager should realize the problem
is starting to get worse and be set up to follow through with organizationally approved sanctions.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vulnerability
Vulnerabilities in a system are weaknesses present in the system or lack of a counter measure which
has been placed to secure the system from exploitation and attack. The weakness of the
countermeasure could be related to hardware or software. Any procedural or human weakness can also
be exploited to threat the network setup. Basically a threat agent gives rise to a threat, which in turn
exploits the vulnerability that gives to a risk. Therefore it is important to safeguard the system against
the vulnerabilities to protect it from any type of attack.

A few vulnerabilities related to EM security in a national level are stated as follows:
1. Modern electric equipment shrinks in size which is a reason for increased vulnerability to
electromagnetic interference. This makes restoring difficult.
2. Communication method such as given in the scenario presented to us where the network setup has
components of the national level of network of client nodes, infrastructure and datacenters, such

For example, there are moments throughout the novel in which the wind blows as Sethe is thinking
and she is brought back to her days at Sweet Home, seeing the beautiful trees that surrounded the
plantation. However, those were not nice moments to be reminded of as the particular trees she
remembers are the trees that hung her fellow companions on the plantation. The story frames it as,
Boys hanging from the most beautiful sycamores in the world. It shamed her remembering the
wonderful soughing trees rather than the boys (pg. 7). Thus, right off the bat, Sethe has a clear
relationship with nature but it is so two faced that it could be something seen as a beautiful sight or a
shocking reminder. Along with that, overall she has very bad experiences at Sweet Home when it
came to having her milk stolen and just being a slave in general. But she is not able to control when
those thoughts come to her as, her brain was devious, (pg. 6), so any sight of a tree could provide her

Development Of The Mammary Gland
Introduction 1. Normal mammary gland 1.1 normal mammary gland anatomies The normal breast sits
on the chest muscle, consisting mainly of adipose tissue, also known as mammary fat pad. The mature
mammary gland is composed of 15 20 lobes, which are each composed of smaller structure called
lobules. Tiny Lactiferous ducts connect lobules to each other. (Fig. 1b) (Schneider and Bocker). A
typical structure of duct is composed of a hollow lumen, enclosed by a layer of epithelial luminal cells
that produce milk (Fig 1c). Outside of epithelial luminal cells is a layer of myoepithelial cell and
basement membrane (Visvader). Maintain the correct morphology of duct requires extracellular matrix
which together with fibroblasts, endothelial cells, macrophages, and adipocytes, constitute mammary
stroma. Fat fills the spaces between the lobules and ducts. 1.2 Mammary gland development
Development of the mammary gland starts during embryogenesis but takes several years to complete;
indeed, they are still primitive structures that are not yet connected to the nipple, therefore are not
functional at birth (Anderson and Clarke). Until puberty, breasts grow extremely slow in size.
However, at puberty, they undergo their first spurt of allometric growth and formation of the milk
producing lobules. The lobules extend into the mammary fat pad, and glands become more complex.
During each menstrual cycle, ovarian hormones induce mammary development and new budding of
structures up until the age of

Generations after generations, it has always been the same when it comes to a traditional marriage. As
we know, in the early centuries, marriages were set in stone. The man of the household was the with
power. He was the only one with ability to work. Whereas the wife stayed home to take care of the
children and do daily chores around the house. As the article, Being a Housewife in the 21st Century
states, Being a housewife in the 21st century puts you in a controversial position. Many people believe
women who are housewives are nurturing their families, making homes and building up society.
Others are convinced housewives are old fashioned and outdated, responsible for thwarting the efforts
of women who work outside the home and insulting the memory of those who worked so hard to
obtain equal rights for women.
(Harris) This also reminded me when Angelou stated in her poem Woman s Work,
I ve got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed. (Angelou)
Imagine how crazy it is to think how women does just exactly what Harris and Angelou stated. The
article and poem insists woman are only capable of only being a housewife. In today s society, being a
housewife could be a downfall. Another piece from the article, Being a Housewife in the 21st Century
states, The decision to become a housewife or stay at home mom can have far reaching financial
complications in the 21st century. Having only one income can mean having to tighten your belt and

Cancerous Brain Tumors
Tumors are an area of swelling in a part of the both that does not always create inflammation. These
tumors are usually created by an irregular growth of the tissue. There are two individual kinds of
tumors, one called malignant, which is cancerous and the other benign, which is noncancerous. There
aren t any environmental factors that can usually cause either one of these tumors. Genetic disease
although, can cause certain tumors that can overpower the genes that stop the formation of tumors. A
genetic disease such as neurofibromatosis type 2 can be a prominent cause of a cancerous brain tumor.
Malignant tumors are harmful to the body and need immediate action. They have an absence of a

the vascular system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even benign tumors have a risk of causing damage to the brain through either compression
or infiltration.
A tumor in the brain is dangerous if it starts to compress parts of the brain causing neurological
symptoms. This action can destroy the brain tissue it surrounds or it can block fluid in the brain from
flowing. Although it is not cancerous it can also compress parts of the spinal cord depending where it
is in the brain and can also stop the flow of blood in veins surrounding it.
Some symptoms of brain tumors can be someone experiencing a seizure for the first, usually occurring
in older patients. Because the all areas of the brain are what control the functions of the body, certain
areas where the brain tumor is located may cause gradual speech impairments, or physical
impairments such as difficulty walking. A lesser symptom of brain tumors would be headaches that
can be caused by compression of the tissue which can occur in any age of a patient with this type of

port wives introduced their homeland s customs and attitudes to their husbands, mixing heritages,
which would result in rich cultural diversity, commonly making children produced by the couples

Gladrioters And Roman Gladiators
Response Paper #3 Gladiators vs. Charioteers Roman charioteers and Roman gladiators were at the
pinnacle of the entertainment industry during ancient Roman times. They both had large followings,
were keys to political power, and were the reasons for architectural masterpieces. Charioteers and
gladiators, however, were quite different in many ways. They had differences in backgrounds, in risks
of their profession, in their professional careers, and in the various things they can stand for and
represent. Gladiators and Charioteers in Ancient Rome are brought up and trained in different ways.
The gladiators, for example, could either be prisoners of war, criminals, or free men . However, The
taint of becoming a gladiator essentially took away one s free status, even from those who entered the
profession voluntarily. One could say that all gladiators were slaves (Futrell 125). Being as everyone
is essentially a slave, free men becoming gladiators would have to sign an agreement giving away
their rights to choose. This wasn t something that you would see happen in the realm of chariot racing.
Although, both were still considered infamis essentially meaning they did not enjoy the rights of
citizens. The background in training was also quite different for these two. A gladiator would go to a
ludi ran by lunista who were in charge of acquisition and training of the gladiators. They would then
be assigned a doctor to go with the style they are to be trained in. This is different from the way
charioteers were brought up. Often time they would be trained from adolescents specifically for
chariot racing. These riders as well as their horses would be controlled by four different factions who
were responsible for the training, negotiating, and maintenance of the individual riders. The large
difference here coming in the early up bringing of the charioteers as well as the factions versus the
ludi. The risk in these two professions also varied greatly. Both involved a lot of risk, but it came in
different ways. For a gladiator everytime they suited up for the arena they had someone coming after
them with the soul purpose of inflicting pain or killing them whereas a charioteer risked death, but

Reverse discrimination
Affirmative action is not the source of discrimination, but the vehicle for removing the effects of
discrimination. The Labor Department report found less than 100 reverse discrimination cases among
more than 3,000 discrimination opinions by the U.S. District Court and the Court of Appeal between
1990 and 1994. Discrimination was established in only six cases. The report found that, Many of the
cases were the result of a disappointed applicant . erroneously assuming that when a woman or

Violates principles of compensatory justice
Affirmative action is not an attempt to make up for slavery, it is an attempt to correct today s
discrimination against minorities and women in our society. Affirmative action policies address and
redress systematic economic and political discrimination against any group of people that are
underrepresented or have a history of being discriminated against in particular institutions.
Beneficiaries of these programs have included white men and women, people with disabilities, and
poor and working class people, but their primary emphasis has been on addressing racial
discrimination. Specific white people may not get the specific job opportunity because of affirmative
action policies and may suffer as a result. This lack of opportunity is unfortunate; the structural factors
which produce a lack of decent jobs needs to be addressed.

A more careful analysis reveals that affirmative action programs have benefited substantial numbers of
poor and working class people of color. Access to job training programs, vocational school, and semi

The schools must also meet the federal nutrition requirement to serve food, to provide students with a
healthy diet. Even though schools must meet the national requirement they also have some leeway,
federal meal requirements, decision about what specific foods to serve and how they are prepared are
made by local school food authorities (www.fns.usda.org).
This allows students to have a variety of different meals each day. Over the years there has been an
increase in the school lunch program. In 2014, The National School Lunch Program provided low cost
or free lunches to over 30.3 million children daily at a cost of nearly $12.6 billion, (ers.usda.gov).
Because of the popularity of the National School Lunch Program, the government expanded its meals
to breakfast and after school snacks. The same children who meet the requirement to participate in the
National School Lunch Program can now come to school early and get breakfast. Also if they
participate in after school activities, the school also provides healthy snack options. There has been a
growing support for the National School Lunch
Program because it provides kids with healthy food options. With the growing obesity problem in the
United States, the National School Program helps children get into a healthy eating habit.
The popularity continues to rise for the National School lunch program because not only does it help
children it also helps

The Prelude Response
In this excerpt from The Prelude , Wordsworth s speaker exhibits three major responses to his
experiences in nature. Each response is quite different from the previous and just as if not more
vividly represented. In lines 1 7, the speaker is shown to be quite curious. On that summer evening,
the speaker is led by [nature], almost as if it is enticing him. The speaker, on his little journey, finds a
little boat tied to a willow tree ; the boat invites him to explore nature from a new point of view on the
water. Within this primary response (curiosity), the speaker, after he pushed from the shore, felt a
troubled pleasure ; he is beginning to worry, which foreshadows his fears later on in the excerpt. This
is further suggested when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beginning When... a huge peak... upreared its head of this section pulls the speaker out of his
fantasy world and back to rational thought. This huge peak causes his to suddenly begin to fear. The
speaker personifies the peak and gives it awe inspiring voluntary power and shows how it upreared its
head . With this fear, the speaker began to attempt escape he struck and struck , the repetition of the
action highlighting the urgency and determination thereof. Even so, the huge peak strode after [him]
with measured motion, as if he were being chased by an experienced predator relentless and terrifying.
Luckily for the speaker, he reached the covert of the willow tree and was safe at least from immediate
danger. At line 35, the speaker begins by referring to that spectacle, showing that the last few lines of
narration are removed (temporally) from the event. The ambiguity of the huge peak lives on in these
lines through even more ambiguous diction. But the final thought is clear the fear and the trauma the
speaker experienced that day live on through [his] thoughts as a darkness... solitude... blank
desertion... a trouble to [his] dreams. Nightmares. The speaker s tone shifts in this excerpt are quite
readily apparent and create obvious partitions between each of his realms of

Dido s Lament
Didos Lament
amp;
Messiah: Ev ry Valley
By: Tabitha Watkins
ARTS/340
Mood is the affections (to impress the mid or move the feelings of our emotions, emotional response).
Composers of this time shaped or molded a musical language to depict the affections. Music is written
to fit the needs of society in our always changing world. Church music during this time was very
elaborate and music was usually only heard in the churches and if you were wealth enough during that
time you could go hear music in public opera houses. Religious music was a huge part of baroque era;
it saw the creation of tonality, made changes in musical notation, and developed new instrumental
playing techniques.
Didos Lament composed by Henry Purcell is an opera ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This piece is based upon the scriptural text from the King James Bible it was first performed in Dublin
in 1742; Handel makes use of the renaissance technique of word painting and multi part polyphony. It
uses fascinating word painting and is repeated throughout the piece. This piece comes from the
oratorio called Messiah; it is the third piece of Messiah. It is the combination of homophony and
polyphony with the addition of two trumpets. There are also two oboes, two violins, a viola, and a
basso continuo. The use of basso continuo (instrumental accompaniment) requires a chordal
instrument and a thoroughbass.
When we put Purcells Didos lament next to Handels Messiah in order to compare and contrast them
you will notice some interesting things; to start they are both a different genre since one was created
during the Baroque time period and the other in the classical, obviously they are both composed by a
different person, Didos lament is an opera aria whereas Ev ry valley is an oratorio aria. Operas
purpose is secular entertainment which is usually performed in a theater and is fully dramatic with
staging and costumes. Oratorios purpose is sacred entertainment which is also performed in a theater
but is a concert type. The both have the same musical form of a recitative and they are both
accompanied by an orchestra. Both the opera and Oratorios were made around the same time. To make

Essay On Zara
Zara | Background information
Zara is one of the largest international fashion companies and has over 2000 stores located across 88
countries. It is part of the large distribution group Inditex, which also owns brands such as Pull Bear,
Stradivarius and Bershka.
Zara s first store was opened in 1975 by Amancio Ortega in Spain. It featured low priced fashion items
that looked similar to the products of the more popular brands. As the store proved to be a success,
Ortega opened more Zara stores within Spain.
During the 1980 s, Zara started its international expansion as a result of a change in its production of
clothing, which allowed the company to react to trends much faster, creating instant fashions .
Zara is unique in its marketing model as Zara has a policy of zero advertisement. Plus, its concept of
fast fashion enables Zara to produce new collections every few weeks. This stimulates customers to
visit Zara approximately seventeen times during a year, opposed to the three times other, similar
companies expect their customers to visit, as Zara s products change regularly. Customers only have a
short period of time to buy a specific item. The fact that Zara produces all its clothes itself, instead of
buying clothes from other retailers, also makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the exclusive and luxury image, people will want to buy a product just because it is a

the supermarket created for the Fall/Winter Prêt à Porter 2014/2015 Fashion Show all had the logo or
the name of Chanel on it: Lait de Coco . After the show ended, the audience was allowed to walk
through the supermarket. They grabbed what they could, all wanting something from Chanel.
Unfortunately for them, they were not allowed to take the products with them. This shows how Chanel

The Shallow Pond And The Envelope
Paper Topic IV: The Shallow Pond and The Envelope
In this paper I will argue that other people s suffering matters and that as humans, we have a moral
obligation to help others in regards to the envelope and shallow pond cases, however, those we know
or are closer in proximity to, take priority over strangers. I will also address O Neill and Singer s main
expositions and their application on the issue of famine relief.
O Neill formulates her beliefs based on the ideas of Immanuel Kant. Kantianism is founded on the
belief that one must never treat themselves or another person as a mere means. O Neill believes that
the intention to perform an action, rather than the consequences of it, is what determines the moral
worth of one s actions. Additionally, she would argue that Kantianism revolves around actions
reflecting one or more personal maxim, or rule of conduct with which one guides their life. In
conveying the Kantian perspective, O Neill formulates a duty based argument. When applying our
duty of beneficence, she highlights that we have a responsibility to perform acts that refrain from
using people as mere means, as well as to help develop and promote the other person s ends, while
fostering their capacities to pursue their goals. O Neill further continues to mention our duty of justice,
which implies that we have an obligation to give to those in need, but prioritize those that we
personally know or are in close proximity to. Furthermore, this belief supports the idea

Similarities And Differences Of Banquets In The...
Research Paper
Have you ever wondered how banquets from the Elizabethan Era are similar and different from today
s era? Everyday life in the Elizabethan Era was amazing; however, banquets and inventions were the
same as how we live today. This paper will explain the different events and similarities and differences
from now and the Elizabethan Era .
In the Elizabethan Era there were many big feasts and festivals. Some feasts were for the queen and
many other royals .These banquets and feast were very different from today. The average family in the
21st century eats one meal; however in the Elizabethan Era people ate five different course meals at
their banquets and feasts. Some of the foods that were served: a quarter stag, a stuffed ... Show more

In Elizabethan Era their audiences in their theater were filled like some of our movie theaters today.
Their performances were mostly given in the afternoon. Except in this century people mostly go to
movies at night time. Their movies would last two or three hours just like today s theater.
At some of these theater shows in the Elizabethan Era there were many different artist. Queen
Elizabeth even made up some of the arts herself. Some of the artist that painted portraits of Queen
Elizabeth was Hans Holbein, and Nicholas Hillard. Hillard painted a mini portrait of Queen Elizabeth
in 1952. Hillard painted most of his portraits from Henry s courtiers .Most of these paintings were
brought before Queen Elizabeth at these banquets and feasts that were held. These two artists got their
ideas from the European Renaissance.
In the painting that Hillard painted in 1572, he painted Queen Elizabeth in a piece of clothing they
called a ruff. The Elizabethan Era clothing style is something you wouldn t see anyone wearing in the
21st century. In the 2000s people wore jeans and shirts and casual jackets. In the Elizabethan Era
women wore gowns, corsets, and ruffs. Men wore doublets, breeches, and ruffs as

A Unique Approach
REA has been inspired by a unique approach called Reggio Emilia Philosophy and it is to develop a
unique, fun, and developmental appropriate program for our children. To our eyes, each child is seen
as a capable, powerful, inquiring, and creative individual; our school instructors trust that the play the
children engage in has value. Play is seen as a tool that children utilize daily to explore and to try to
make sense of their world. Here, Children are able to test their idea, interest and solve problems
through play. In addition, we have strong emphasize on expressive art. We believe that it gives
children the opportunity to look and experience the world in a unique way. We encourage children to
use all their senses in order to have a greater understanding of their environments. We find it so
interesting to see not only the child s final product of their work, but the whole process as well. The
relationship between teachers, parents and the children is a very important part of the educational
experience of a child. Our goal is not simply to build a warm and nurturing connection with each
child, but to extend that connection to another level by giving each child a sense of belonging. We
maintain an open door policy all year round, encouraging our parents to become involve with us and
help us create a better environment for the children. Furthermore, we encourage parents to provide us
with ideas of community service. We really like to work together as a family in

The Signs Of Mania And Depression
Just being aware of the signs of mania and depression can significantly help a loved one who suffers
from bipolar. Knowing what to do in these situations is key, and being supportive goes a long way. In
violent situations, the bipolar individual might need to be medicated or sedated. Jamison speaks
frankly about violent outbursts she s had throughout her life and within her relationships. Both my
manias and depressions had violent sides to them. Violence, especially if you re a woman, is not
something spoken about with ease. Being wildly out of control physically assaultive, screaming
insanely at the top of ones lungs, running frenetically with no purpose or limit, or impulsively trying
to leap from cars is frightening to others and unspeakably terrifying to oneself. In blind manic rages I
have done all of these things, at one time or another, and some of them repeatedly; I remain acutely
aware of how difficult it is to control or understand such behaviors, much less explain them to others.
(Jamison 120). A popular show currently on television that depicts a realistic and accurate account of
bipolar disorder is Homeland. The award winning Showtime cable TV series starring Claire Danes as
Carrie Mathison, a CIA agent with bipolar disorder, tells a spellbinding story of espionage and
counterterrorism in the middle and Far East, but also accurately depicts mental illness as it occurs in
real life. // Her character portrays volatility and unpredictability that often

industries, wood furniture construction, office workers, wait staff and computer building. The
currency they use in Italy is Euro. Italy s Economic status is not very good because they have corrupt

Causes Of Racism In Britain
Another, racist event that is happening in Britain is towards the polish community that live there
(Strybel, 2016). According to Strybel (2016), a man was killed and another three people resulted
injured this happened in attacks that took place in the town of Harlow, in the southeastern part of
England. There also have been other attacks that target polish people just because they are seen
speaking in polish and graffiti that says polish people need to go back home (Strybel, 2016). The most
common types of racism that polish people face in the United Kingdom are violence, hate crimes,
ethnicity, and not being a citizen (Strybel, 2016). In addition, Strybel (2016) states that although the
prime minister, Teresa May regrets the attacks that are occurring in the United Kingdom towards and
has said that authorities would secure the environment for polish people, this has not happened and it
is predicted that polish people might return home if this is keeps continuing. This is one of the
consequences that racism can have, polish people might return back home because they feel like they
do not belong and they are not welcomed.
Although, Britain has racist events that occur there are also some anti racist acts that are happening as
well. Andrews (2016), states that the Black Supplementary School Movement was created as a form of
anti racism which was funded by multiculturalism. The school which is in Britain, shows students
resistance towards racist acts and connect people who are

My time in Banff brought about some amazing learning moments for me; some more direct than
others.
I will be sharing a couple of the ripple effect lessons I learned upon returning home. What I had
learned made me question further some of the concepts I had pondered before...one of them being our
need to be productive.
A large part of the reason why I was having trouble settling in and simply enjoying my time in Banff
was because I had an underlying need to be productive. Even though at a conscious level I no longer
buy into and accept that our time needs to be filled with productive pursuits (not to be confused with
purpose), at a subconscious level that belief was buried quite deep, and so my two minds were
struggling with each other.
We have been raised in a culture that highly values productivity, and that in itself wouldn t be such a
bad thing if we hadn t taken it to extremes. We have come to value ourselves based on how productive
we are, which has led us to be driven, to push ourselves, and to preserve under all conditions...and if

A Brief Note On The State Of New Jersey
Geography Israel, a country slightly smaller than the U.S. state of New Jersey, is located in the Middle
East. It borders the Mediterranean Sea for a length of 168 miles. In the south and southwest, it borders
the Gulf of Aqaba and the Sinai Peninsula. Israel occupied the Sinai Peninsula during the war of June
1967 and returned it to Egypt in April 1982. To the east, it shares a 147 mile borderline with the
Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and 189 miles with the Palestinian Autonomous Area on the western
shore of the Jordan River. In the north, Israel shares 49 miles of borders with Lebanon, and with Syria
for 47 miles on the disputed Golan Heights.
Current History
2,000 years after the destruction of Israel by the Romans, Israel was created by ratification by the
United Nations and the formation was broadcasted via television on May 14, 1948. Despite the fact
that the nation is youthful, it has been tormented with war and catastrophe since its creation.
On the day of its creation, it was attacked by multiple Arab countries vowing to destroy the country
before it could form. Israel with its newly formed army was able to successfully repel the attack of
several Arab countries working together from multiple fronts and hold them off.
In 1956, Israel demonstrated the quality and equipped constrained when it chose to act to shield itself
from the Palestinian guerrilla attacks from Egypt and to attempt to evacuate an Egyptian barricade of
their port at Eilat. A peace treaty was

  • 2. Analysis Of One Art By Elizabeth Bishop One Art Poetry Analysis One art is poem written by Elizabeth Bishop discussing loss and the role it plays in the world. The poem conveys a powerful message subtly hidden in the speaker s use of connotation and denotation. In addition to the multiple connotations of loss in the poem, repetition and sound coupled together add meaning overall to the poem. The form of the poem contributes to the uses of repetition and connotation to emphasize the ease of loss. In the poem as seen throughout much of it the speaker uses sound and repetition heavily through the length of the poem. The poem itself is a mirror into the author, Elizabeth Bishop s, life and losses she s collected throughout her lifetime. Upon research into Bishop the poem can easily be seen as a autobiographical piece. In the poem the speaker confesses to losing two cities, lovely ones Bishop lost her husband to suicide some years prior to having written the poem. Many of the losses described in the poem are personal anecdotes straight from Bishops life. The poem casually denotes the losses experienced in Bishops life creating a casual and ironic tone throughout the length of the poem. Specifically the poem is a villanelle, a 19 line poem with two rhymes throughput the poem consisting of five tercets and a quatrain. In One Art the repeating lines are The art of losing isn t hard to master and Disaster , the end of every stanza in the poem the stanza ends with either of the two. In every the poem builds upon ... • 3. A Summary OfI Wandered Lonely As A Cloud Lost. What a standard term. One that is often associated with a child wandering off in a grocery store, or somebody taking the wrong turn and not arriving at the correct destination. But the trouble is that it is hardly ever associated with anything deeper, such as the human soul. Yet the reality is, everybody s soul is indeed a little bit lost. And if not lost, at least diverted to a path of pure monotony that drives them to forget the importance of the little things in life. An example of this concept is the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker is wandering through life without purpose. He is simply living a life that he no longer feels any form of connection towards. But then he comes across a field of dancing daffodils and his perspective changes entirely to one of pure joy and ease with his life. Through his application of simile, symbolism, and personification, in his work, the speaker makes his poem far more meaningful. The use of these devices helps to shape the poem s central idea, that is when one stops roaming aimlessly through everyday life and pays attention, they can discover the true beauties that are present in the world and learn to appreciate them a little bit more. One of the main figurative language elements that the speaker uses within his poem is a simile. The title of the poem itself, as well as the first line are repeating similes. The speaker uses this component in the lines I wandered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Strategic Management and Business Policy Strategic Management and Business Policy July 21, 2007 Brief History of Nissan/Renault: In 1990 the consolidation auto industry was increasing cost of developing more sophisticated vehicles and worldwide production overcapacity. Both Nissan and Renault were eagerly looking for a partner to compete in the 21st century. Nissan was rebuffed by both Chrysler and Ford. Renault was turned away by other Japanese automakers that made both companies reach an agreement on a global alliance in 1999. The combination made sense that both companies main sales territories and production were corresponding. • 5. Essay about Alternative Medicine Alternative Medicine Although Alternative or Complementary medicine has been kept on the fringes of the medical sciences in the past, it is becoming increasingly more popular, and more reputable. Alternative medicines are those medical systems which are not taught to or practiced by most conventional medical doctors. Alternative medicines seemingly have always existed, changing and conforming to the current climate of society. There seems to be an almost endless number of alternative medicines, each with their own method of gaining perfect health. Often people who are dissatisfied with conventional medicine turn to alternative medicine for their medical needs. Many similarities link the diverse extremities of alternative medicine. ... The scientific community is much quicker to label this second type as quacks, whereas the scientific community has failed to gain a consensus on the legitimacy of the first type. Unfortunately, both are encompassed by the term alternative medicine. This paper will focus on the more controversial alternative medicines described in the first group. By examining some of the most popular, enduring alternative medical systems, one can begin to see some general trends of the systems, understand some recurring flaws, and understand the attraction and usefulness of alternative medicine in today s health care system. However, alternative medicine remains controversial. Whether it can be supported scientifically or not, alternative medicine may be useful to encourage both physical and mental well being via a placebo effect. For this reason, alternative medicine must be considered by physicians as a complement to modern medicine. Description of alternative medical systems (including a brief history and background): Chiropractic treatment: Chiropractic is one of the most respected and most prominent of alternative medicine practices. Although many people would only consider visiting a chiropractor for the alleviation of pain caused by musculoskeletal problems, chiropractic beliefs involve much more than just muscle manipulation. • 6. Myasthenia Gravis Case Study Myasthenia Gravis(MG) is an auto immune disorder characterized by sudden dysarthria, which affects muscles that help produce speech, causing difficultly to pronounce words. But other symptoms include, droopy eye lids, muscle weakness and difficulty swallowing. Because of the sudden dysarthria, many elderly people are being misdiagnosed for possible strokes. Due to the great extent of the misdiagnoses of MG, researchers did a study presenting four subjects that had been presented to the ER with history of hypertension and sudden onset dysarthria. After considering the patients in each study, researchers found that all patients were initially misdiagnosed and treated for strokes, therefore prolonging the correct diagnose of MG and the correct form of treatment for these patients. Immediately, the medications that she was previously on for a stroke was stopped and she was treated with Pyridostigmine and steroids, which slowly improved her symptoms. In cases two, three, and four, each patient experienced a fairly similar situation. Every patient was suddenly struck by dysarthria, that did not improve over a few hours, which made them end up at the ER. At this time, doctors diagnosed and treated these patients as if they had a stroke, and once again when symptoms did not improve, further testing was done, and an antibody test tested positive for myasthenia gravis. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but there is no point in having cheerleaders perform on the side and at half time on the football field. Cheerleaders could just become dancers if they want to perform so badly. Cheerleaders should not be included in football games because there are enough people to cheer in the stands. Cheerleaders are a lot like dancers besides the fact that they are cheering on a team. Love to Know says cheerleading is not a sport because the only sport like things they do are routines but have nothing to do with sports itself. • 9. What Is The Tone Of The Scarlet Letter By Hester Prynne D.H Lawrence a British writer critiques the novel s Scarlet Letters heroine and gives his opinions on her in a persuasive, argumentative manner in his critical essay called On The Scarlet Letter. He believes that the heroine of the novel is not the beloved character readers believe she is. Using literary techniques like an ironclad tone, abrupt syntax and biblical allusions Lawrence convince s people that the beloved American heroine Hester Prynne is truly a conniving adulteress who thrives off of stealing a man s purity and possibly his soul. The demanding, ironclad, persuasive tone Lawrence uses throughout his work makes the reader notice his strong opinion.. He writes that the Scarlet Letter is perhaps the most colossal satire ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Harsh and abrupt syntax shoots literary bullets at Hester Prynne s character and rips holes into it that has not been seen before and Nathaniel Hawthorne in Lawrence s assessment of the Scarlet Letter. Bullets get his point across accurately and properly. The sentences are written in a bullet point format which launches his opinions with rigor. Lawrence s pinpointed syntax with line by line criticism leaves no room for the reader to ponder what he is saying. This makes the writer and the audience connect and believe what that Hester is longer a victim but, the antagonist. What Lawrence is saying through his exact and precise structure comes through seamlessly to the audience without a doubt. Consequently, he uses short and to the point sentences like A.The Scarlet Letter. Adulteress! The great Alpha. Alpha! Alpha! Adulteress! to get his points across and tear apart Hester Prynne (Lawrence). Lawrence wants his audience to see that Hester herself is the Scarlet Letter and the Scarlet Letter is also Hester. The abrupt, harsh, and disruptive syntax is used to persuade the audience into seeing the truth behind the curtain that is Hester Prynne while, she is being ripped from limb to limb with the bullets Lawrence is throwing . He does his best to make his sentences spew at the reader in an organized pattern that allows his thoughts to be conveyed exactly the way he wants. Biblical allusions Lawrence ... • 10. The Leadership Of The Organizational Leadership The organizational leadership drivers have been historically and predominantly filled with male leaders. Determined factors, however fictitious, in writing, as well as perceived by organizational Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), shareholders, Owners, and employees, female leaders were viewed through the stereotypical categories that included limitations. Moreover, gender discriminating society professes the positions for men and women would not be compensated equally. Correlating differences in gender leadership is not as fictional as it may appear. The discovery of a biochemical distinction between the genders may bring some credibility to the historical insights. While men do have higher levels of testosterone and women have higher levels of oxytocin, men and women behaviors are directly affected in speaking up and in connectedness (Moskowitz, 2015). Merit to these perceptions may be in question. Even though women have been exceedingly surpassing males in scholastic academics, researchers persistently dispute the differences in leadership abilities and capabilities. The majority of investigators believe the important differences in genders leadership are derived from the differences in power, status, and additional influences related to the gender over the educational level. Their small size and independent tendencies makes them ideal pets for those who do not want a high maintenance animal. They are quirky and show lots of love if you take care of them. Cats are complex animals, but can be great pets. They have their own way of doing things, but still can be a great companion. They have gone through a lot throughout the years, yet still have barely changed. Cats are interesting in their own ways, both their history and personalities. Their tongues are covered in papillae to help scrape food off of bones or to clean itself (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.10). Their fur coats protect them from cold, bug bites, stings, and other irritants, and can also be raised when frightened or threatened to seem larger in size (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.10). Not easily seen are the sweat glands that cats only have on their paw pads (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.11). Moving inward, cats have a very flexible spine, aiding them when falling to land on their feet or to help them get into small spaces (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.12). Most cats can see ultraviolet light (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.9). Evolution has favored night vision over being able to see colors during the day (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.9). Another part of the cat s night vision is that at the back of the eye, there is a layer of cells that reflects the light (Foss, Stewart Swift, 2008, p.9). • 12. Now That This Paper Has Evaluated Aquinas’S Summa Contra Now that this paper has evaluated Aquinas s Summa Contra Gentiles, it will move on to evaluate his next important work. In the years 1265 1274 Aquinas wrote what is considered one of his most prominent works, The Summa Theologiae. In Summa Theologiae (also known as Suma Theologica or simply Summa), Aquinas gave five proofs for the existence of God. This paper will first tell why these proofs are necessary then describe the proofs in themselves. These proofs are necessary because Aquinas believed that the existence of God is not self evident. A self evident proposition is one in which the predicate forms part of what is meant by the subject (PUT, 103). Meaning that God exists is not self evident because we cannot grasp divine essence ... Therefore anything that is in the process of changing cannot change itself so one thing is changed by another which in turn is changed by yet another (Clark, 122). Eventually, this stream of change has to stop somewhere or else there would be no first cause of change and consequently no subsequent causes. So when we come to the first cause that is not changed by anything else, Aquinas believed it is what we understand to be God (Clark, 122 123). The second proof is derived from the nature of causation. Aquinas thought that in the natural world we find causes in a natural order of succession. We never see something causing itself because if we did then it would be pre existing and this would be impossible (Clark, 123). Every first cause impacts an intermediate (there can be many intermediates) which then impacts a last. You cannot take out any one cause without getting rid of its effects (Clark, 123). So you cannot take out the first cause without losing the intermediates and last causes that follow. Thus Aquinas thought that we must suppose a first cause, which is God (Clark, 123). The third proof addresses the issue of what is unnecessary and what is unnecessary. Our experience has shown us that in life there are things that are necessary and things that are unnecessary. Comparing the Representation of Nature in Wordsworth s Ruined Cottage, and Coleridge s Rime of the Ancient Mariner For most poets of the Romantic Age, nature played an invaluable role in their works. Man s existence could be affected and explained by the presence and portrayal of the external nature surrounding it. William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge are no different from the other Romantic poets, and their works abound with references to nature and its correlation to humanity. This explanation of his work is applicable to the majority of Wordsworth s creations. In the case of The Ruined Cottage, he uses nature to shadow the progression of decline in the woman of the peddler s story, and also to provide the comforting concepts of hope and continuation of life. Whereas Wordsworth treats nature as a means of understanding and mirroring the condition of man, Coleridge takes a slightly different approach in his ballads. Instead of revealing the natural in its purest form, without alteration, Coleridge adds his own special coloring. This can be seen in his supernatural works, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the story of a seaman haunted after needlessly killing an albatross. However, those were not nice moments to be reminded of as the particular trees she remembers are the trees that hung her fellow companions on the plantation. The story frames it as, Boys hanging from the most beautiful sycamores in the world. It shamed her remembering the wonderful soughing trees rather than the boys (pg. 7). Thus, right off the bat, Sethe has a clear relationship with nature but it is so two faced that it could be something seen as a beautiful sight or a shocking reminder. Along with that, overall she has very bad experiences at Sweet Home when it came to having her milk stolen and just being a slave in general. But she is not able to control when those thoughts come to her as, her brain was devious, (pg. 6), so any sight of a tree could provide her with a sudden wave of depression, much different from what it would provide for the others. • 29. Development Of The Mammary Gland Introduction 1. Normal mammary gland 1.1 normal mammary gland anatomies The normal breast sits on the chest muscle, consisting mainly of adipose tissue, also known as mammary fat pad. The mature mammary gland is composed of 15 20 lobes, which are each composed of smaller structure called lobules. Tiny Lactiferous ducts connect lobules to each other. (Fig. 1b) (Schneider and Bocker). A typical structure of duct is composed of a hollow lumen, enclosed by a layer of epithelial luminal cells that produce milk (Fig 1c). Outside of epithelial luminal cells is a layer of myoepithelial cell and basement membrane (Visvader). Maintain the correct morphology of duct requires extracellular matrix which together with fibroblasts, endothelial cells, macrophages, and adipocytes, constitute mammary stroma. Fat fills the spaces between the lobules and ducts. 1.2 Mammary gland development Development of the mammary gland starts during embryogenesis but takes several years to complete; indeed, they are still primitive structures that are not yet connected to the nipple, therefore are not functional at birth (Anderson and Clarke). Until puberty, breasts grow extremely slow in size. However, at puberty, they undergo their first spurt of allometric growth and formation of the milk producing lobules. The lobules extend into the mammary fat pad, and glands become more complex. During each menstrual cycle, ovarian hormones induce mammary development and new budding of structures up until the age of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Short Summary In Maya Angelou s Woman Work What are women truly capable of? In Maya Angelou poem entitled Woman Work in the beginning she describes what a woman does for either her family, husband and jeopardizing her own happiness. Even though, throughout the poem the tone changes. It tends to have gotten a lot darker. She then describes of how unappreciative she feels and how she wants to rest. Maybe she wanted a break from doing the things she does every day. In the end, even throughout history of women being stereotypical of just doing things of only being able to cook and clean for their families... what are the next steps for them? What more can a woman bring to the table? if any... Generations after generations, it has always been the same when it comes to a traditional marriage. As we know, in the early centuries, marriages were set in stone. The man of the household was the with power. He was the only one with ability to work. Whereas the wife stayed home to take care of the children and do daily chores around the house. As the article, Being a Housewife in the 21st Century states, Being a housewife in the 21st century puts you in a controversial position. Many people believe women who are housewives are nurturing their families, making homes and building up society. Others are convinced housewives are old fashioned and outdated, responsible for thwarting the efforts of women who work outside the home and insulting the memory of those who worked so hard to obtain equal rights for women. (Harris) This also reminded me when Angelou stated in her poem Woman s Work, I ve got the children to tend The clothes to mend The floor to mop The food to shop Then the chicken to fry The baby to dry I got company to feed The garden to weed. (Angelou) Imagine how crazy it is to think how women does just exactly what Harris and Angelou stated. The article and poem insists woman are only capable of only being a housewife. In today s society, being a housewife could be a downfall. Yet, in the post classical trade routes taking place in the Indian Ocean, the sight of other people was an extremely unlikely occasion to occur along the journey due to distal location of land. Therefore, seafarers became intimate with foreign women at port stops. These port wives introduced their homeland s customs and attitudes to their husbands, mixing heritages, which would result in rich cultural diversity, commonly making children produced by the couples multilingual, multicultural, and cosmopolitan. Since the Mediterranean Sea trade route was proximal to land and the Indian Ocean trade route was more remote from land, sailors in the Indian Ocean Maritime System would take up opportunities with woman from different regions, whereas the seafarers in the Mediterranean Sea trade route preferred marriage to women from their own homeland. Gladrioters And Roman Gladiators Response Paper #3 Gladiators vs. Charioteers Roman charioteers and Roman gladiators were at the pinnacle of the entertainment industry during ancient Roman times. They had differences in backgrounds, in risks of their profession, in their professional careers, and in the various things they can stand for and represent. Gladiators and Charioteers in Ancient Rome are brought up and trained in different ways. The gladiators, for example, could either be prisoners of war, criminals, or free men . However, The taint of becoming a gladiator essentially took away one s free status, even from those who entered the profession voluntarily. One could say that all gladiators were slaves (Futrell 125). Being as everyone is essentially a slave, free men becoming gladiators would have to sign an agreement giving away their rights to choose. This wasn t something that you would see happen in the realm of chariot racing. Although, both were still considered infamis essentially meaning they did not enjoy the rights of citizens. The background in training was also quite different for these two. A gladiator would go to a ludi ran by lunista who were in charge of acquisition and training of the gladiators. They would then be assigned a doctor to go with the style they are to be trained in. This is different from the way charioteers were brought up. Often time they would be trained from adolescents specifically for chariot racing. These riders as well as their horses would be controlled by four different factions who were responsible for the training, negotiating, and maintenance of the individual riders. The large difference here coming in the early up bringing of the charioteers as well as the factions versus the ludi. The risk in these two professions also varied greatly. Both involved a lot of risk, but it came in different ways. I will also address O Neill and Singer s main expositions and their application on the issue of famine relief. O Neill formulates her beliefs based on the ideas of Immanuel Kant. Kantianism is founded on the belief that one must never treat themselves or another person as a mere means. O Neill believes that the intention to perform an action, rather than the consequences of it, is what determines the moral worth of one s actions. Additionally, she would argue that Kantianism revolves around actions reflecting one or more personal maxim, or rule of conduct with which one guides their life. In conveying the Kantian perspective, O Neill formulates a duty based argument. When applying our duty of beneficence, she highlights that we have a responsibility to perform acts that refrain from using people as mere means, as well as to help develop and promote the other person s ends, while fostering their capacities to pursue their goals. O Neill further continues to mention our duty of justice, which implies that we have an obligation to give to those in need, but prioritize those that we personally know or are in close proximity to. On the day of its creation, it was attacked by multiple Arab countries vowing to destroy the country before it could form. Israel with its newly formed army was able to successfully repel the attack of several Arab countries working together from multiple fronts and hold them off.
