Al Minor Associates, Inc. V. Martin Case Summary
Robert Martin was sued for misappropriation of trade secrets in the case of Al Minor
Associates, Inc. vs Martin, in the state of Ohio. The facts of the case are as follows: Robert
Martin, a former employee of Al Minor Associates, formed his own company in 2003, offering
the same services as Al Minor Associates. He did so while still employed at the company. This
means that Robert, who was hired in 1998, still had access to its customer files and sensitive
account information belonging to Al Minor .Associates, while forming his own business to
compete with them. He proceeded to memorize customer information, that he then used in his own
business, once he resigned from Al Minor Associates in 2004. Robert solicited fifteen of Al Minor
s clients for business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trial court in Ohio ruled in favor of Al Minor .Associates and awarded them $25,973 for a
violation of the Trade Secret Act. The Franklin County Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court s
ruling stating that, a client list such as the one at issue fits the statutory definition of a trade secret
under R.C. 1333.61(D), AMA s memorized client list warrants trade secret status
(Strobel). Martin appealed to the Supreme Court of Ohio, claiming that his memory cannot be the
basis for a trade secret violation and that the appellate court s decision overly restricted his right to
compete in business against Al Minor .Associates (Strobel). The Supreme Court of
Perone 2
Ohio upheld the appellate court s decision stating that information that constitutes a trade secret
pursuant to statute does not lose its character as a trade secret if it has been memorized

English Literature Review
The article, Relationship Between Language Skills and Acquisition Rate of Sight Words Among
English Language Learners, by Matthew K. Burns and Lori A. Helman, is about the study
conducted on English language learners (ELL). The study examined the sight word acquisition
rate (AR) of 43 second grade students who were English language learners (ELL) from three
diverse, urban schools. The acquisition rate (AR) is the amount of information a child can
successfully rehearse and later recall (CITATION). The 43 secondgraders that were used for the
study speak the language Hmong, which is a Chinese dialect, and it is also their first language.
Children that are ELL are a diverse group of students that have some unmet academic needs
(CITATION). One solution to this problem is to improve the individualized instruction for ELL.
Teachers should recognize the student s skill level and match their skill level with the
appropriate task. Meaning that teachers should not give the student material that is too hard for
them to comprehend. When given the right material, the students can effectively learn what is
needed. So, for the study researchers examined the effect of imagery level on word reading. The
researchers would present the ELL with 40 words at a time whether they knew them or not. The
cards containing the words were presented one at a time to each child in a clustered random
order (CITATION). If the child could not correctly identify at least eight of the words, then
words taken from the first list of words. If the child correctly identified all 40 words selected,
then the words selected from the third list of words were used. The presentation order of words
taken from each of the three word lists was randomly determined. Words were identified as
known if the student orally read the word correctly within 2 seconds. Any word not read
correctly or requiring more than 2 seconds to read was considered unknown . After completing
the research, the results show there is a significant relationship between the level of English
proficiency and the rate of acquisition of English sight words (CITATION). Researchers also
found that the imagery level of the word did not affect how well the word was orally read, which

King Jeremiah Research Paper
Next, we read in verses two to three: To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah
the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. It came also in the days of
Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son
of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. Like
many of the prophetic Books, we are given the range of Jeremiah s career as a prophet to the
nation which spanned some fifty years. In verse two we learn that Gods call to Jeremiah comes in
the 13th year of the reign of King Josiah which was in 627 BC. At this point the wicked king
Manasseh is dead, to be followed by his wicked son Amon who eventually dies... Show more

The first reason Jeremiah should be encouraged to take up the ministry is that his very life is
rooted in the unshakable, sovereign purposes of God. The same is true for every child of God.
Second, God sanctified him. He set him apart for something significant. And that is true for us
too. In giving every Christian grace and gifts, God consecrated us to be like Jesus and to use our
gifts for his glory. And third, God ordained Jeremiah to be a prophet. I ordained you to be a
prophet to the nations. This is why Jeremiah was born. This is his destiny. And you have one
too. No Christian exists merely to make an honest living, raise a family, enjoy retirement, and
die. Every one of us is called to a ministry. Then in verse six we hear of Jeremiah s anxiety and
excuse when he is called: Then said I: Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth. This
is quite similar to the excuse Moses made who said: O my Lord, I am not eloquent. But God says
who makes man s mouth now go. And enabling the call, the Lord encourages Jeremiah by saying
(1:7 8): Do not say, I am a youth, for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I
command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,

Audit Plan- Glaxosmithkline
Audit Plan GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
Key business and audit risk:
In order to make the report more efficient we must identify the key areas of business risk and
auditing risk. Business risk can be defined as the risk, which could affect an organization s ability
to achieve its objectives (Gray and Manson, 2007).
Audit risk is defined as the risk that the auditor gives an inappropriate audit opinion when the
financial statements are materially misstated (Soltani, 2007). In Gray and Manson (2007) s book
Audit Risk can be split into three separate elements :
1 Inherent risk reflects the auditor s opinion on the possibility of material misstatement on financial
statement.
2 Control risk is the risk that internal control policies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Firstly, misstatement via the means of non existent sales or sales which have been realised in the
incorrect period. Secondly sales may not be recorded in order to lower sales so provide evidence
in further periods of higher growth than is actually correct. Thirdly sales could be incorrectly
entered into the system providing incorrect figures. Therefore one would need to verify the sales
books, and the controls in place to prevent errors either intentional or unintentional.
Debts
The level of debt that a company holds and their ability to repay this debt is an important risk
factor for GSK. There is a higher risk for GSK than for some of its competitors, as GSK has a
higher leverage than the likes of Pfizer and J J (Financial Times, 2010). However this in itself can
in some cases be more efficient as long as the entity has the cash flow in order to repay these
debts. Therefore one has to ensure during the audit that GSK will have sufficient cash flows to meet
its repayments for the year.
Cash management
Sufficient liquid cash in a company is important to defend against economic uncertainty. A small
cash reserve/ cash flow, can be a control and detection risk, which may result profitable projects
having to be scrapped or assets sold to increase cash flow
Also one has to ensure that the book values for GSK s debtor and creditors are correct and verified
as they make up large sections of the balance sheet and a misstatement of these values would

What to Look For
The system should be visually inspected which means a tower climb or a high resolution drone
video to each of the lighting fixtures all beacons and sidelights. The inspection should look for
ultraviolet (UV) damage, cracks, crazing, dirt buildup, etc. The etc. in this instance could include
unwanted deposits on the outside of the lens (think bird poop as an example), or unwanted deposits
on the inside of the lens. LumenServeв„ has seen instances where material inside a legacy lighting
system, such as certain types of tape, are vaporized and then deposited on the inside of the lens.
This is a result of a poor installation and must be addressed. Certain older models of lighting
lenses are made of older plastics that are effected by UV rays resulting in crazing. Old glass lenses
can chip. The bottom line is the inspection relies on the reasonable judgement of the inspector to
determine if the lens performance is degraded in some manner and decreasing the system s certified
output. No light meter or measurement is required, just a thorough inspection and reasonable
determination of the status of each lens.
How Often to Inspect
The requirement states that light fixture lenses should be visually inspected every 24 months, or
when the light fixture fails. Failure of the fixture indicates that the fixture must be repaired and thus

The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties Essay
The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on Nanostructured metals
the collective oscillations of the conduction electrons termed plasmons lead to most striking
phenomenon encountered in these structures are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number
of geometries and in various metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and
silver. Under certain circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light
scattering and absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, based
upon calculations, Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle with a
dielectric core and a metallic shell could produce SPR modes with a much larger range of
wavelengths. The first nanoshells were made by Zhou et al. In the 1990 s. They used a Au2S core
surrounded by a gold shell. Variations of these shells made it possible to shift the standard gold
colloid plasmonresonance peak from ~520 nm up to ~900 nm. There was a limit however, of less
than 40 nm on the size of nanoshell that they could achieve due to the chemistry of their
synthesis reactions. The process also produced large amounts of gold colloid as a secondary
product which gave an additional absorption peak at ~520 nm. Halas and coworkers synthesized a
new type of gold nanoshell that overcame many of the limitations of the Au2S core type nanoshell.
The new method replaced the Au2S core with a silica core and made it possible to exert

American Rockwell Freedom From Want Analysis
In contrast to the liberation and artistic freedoms of Pollock s revolutionary art, the American
government preferred conservative work of artists like Norman Rockwell. Norman Rockwell s
paintings embodied a traditional, Regionalist style. One of Rockwell s most renowned pieces of
work is the Freedom From Want, representing the traditional and perfected American lifestyle.
Painted in 1943, Rockwell depicts an ideal white American family celebrating Thanksgiving
dinner. As an artist, Rockwell specialized in displaying traditional and conservative American
values. Through identifiable shapes and brushstrokes, Rockwell creates a scene with a clear
message of American tradition, unlike Pollock. It stands as a symbol of what the ideal, nuclear
American family looks like. Rockwell s Freedom From Want was inspired by President Franklin
Roosevelt s address to Congress in 1941 in which he listed four American basic human... Show

Similar to the way in which the Soviet Union standardized language and education, it similarly
standardized art forms and culture. Under Stalin s directive, Socialist Realism was the only
aesthetic and style of painting that was acceptable. Social Realism was a style used to depict home
life and the landscape through a politically tinted point of view. It was defined as proletarian, art
that was relevant and relatable to workers; typical, scenes of everyday life; realistic in a
representational sense; and partisan, supporting the aims of the State and the communist party. As
the Soviet Union restricted its art and cultural limitations, the CIA noticed a crucial fact about the
polarizing Abstract Expressionism movement: it was the polar opposite of Socialist Realism.
Abstract Expressionism was also fundamentally American. Donald Jameson, former CIA agent,

Taking a Look at Divorce
Divorce is viewed differently by many people. Sometimes this is due to experiences, what others
have said, or looking at studies that are not always accurate. However, not everyone can have the
same views about marriage ending in divorce. In the article, No Easy Answers: Why the Popular
View of Divorce Is Wrong by Constance Ahrons she shows her view on divorce. Ahrons believes
that divorce does not have long lasting damaging effects on children (65). Divorce can affect
children in the familybut the way the decisions are made is what will change the way the kids are
influenced.
First of all, opposing viewpoints say that divorce can cause the child to feel like their life is not
going to be the same. In contrast, this is not a highly supported statement. One thing that is
commonly stated about divorce is, once two married parents with children decide to divorce, that
they are no longer a family (66). Although, they may not be living together in the same house it
does not mean they are still not a family. No matter what, the parents will always be linked to
each other because of the children. Is that not the definition of a family? In addition, assumptions
are made that if people are married with kids that they are an ideal family This is not the case, if
the marriage is not working out and is only causing problems amongst the parents and kids than
that is not considered a family either. Divorce does not cause children to lose their family, if
anything it helps to fix them.

In The Waiting Room Elizabeth Bishop
The poem, In the Waiting Room shown within Elizabeth Bishop s book The Complete Poems
1927 1979 is an engaging and descriptive poem about a child s self coming into adulthood.
Elizabeth, the child, narrates the story from her point of view, reading the National Geographic
while waiting for Aunt Consuelo to be finished with her appointment. The National Geographic
however, is a gateway which portrays Elizabeth s adultside, showing her as a child what is to come
as she grows older. Aunt Consuelo and those within the waiting room during the time when
Elizabeth looks around adds on to this point, making her ask more questions about her own name,
as well as her becoming like her Aunt. Which started with her picking up and flipping through, the
yellow margins of the National Geographic.
The idea behind the book National Geographic is to transport the reader into a location that they
have not been too. For this poem however, it transports Elizabeth to her being an adult. Showing
her what is to come with adulthood, Babies with pointed heads wound round and round with
string; black, naked women with necks wound round and round with wire like the necks of light
bulbs. Their breasts were horrifying (26 31) Elizabeth is horrified with what she sees as clearly
stated, she does not wish to become an adult. To be given these breasts, or even the experience of
a child. But since she was too scared to stop she kept reading till she heard her Aunt.

Essay about Mood of Passage in Snow Falling On Cedars
In the passage be ginning They had picked... from the novel Snow Falling On Cedars, the author,
David Guterson, uses many techniques to give the passage a depressing, and frightening mood.
He uses vivid imagery to describe Carl s dead body. He also uses figurative language, such as
metaphors and similes to show the severity of the situation. Finally, his diction shows the reader
how reading about a crime scene can seem real if the word choiceis right. All the techniques

Although the mood is depressing since Carl is dead, the reader gets a sense of relief, because the
silver strings make it seem as if Carl has moved on to heaven, and is safe. Guterson also uses
similes when describing that the officers wrapped Carl up in his net like a hammock . This is also
a very depressing part of the passage because it is representative of Carl s life really being over for
good. Basically it is like wrapping him up and throwing away the key , because he is no more.
The word choice that Guterson uses are key to the depressing and scary mood. He could have
just said that Abel Martinson got sick. But instead he said he vomited and described it in detail.
This gives an effect of how disgusting the dead body was. It is very sad for the reader to imagine
because they can see how sad of a death is was from how sick Abel got. Another example of
Guterson s wonderful diction is when he described Carl being borne by the webbing . This gives
the effect of Carl being trapped and having no way to escape. This could be scary to some
because they might think that he could have avoided his death if he was not trapped by the net. It
is also sad, again, because there is no coming back from death.
For those readers who have had personal experience with death and those they love dying around
them, this passage is especially depressing. It is also

Teen Activists
Teens become activists through different experiences Teen activists are many people s hero. An
activist is an individual who campaigns to bring about political or social change. Teen activists
are teenagers who decide to fight for what is right, and instead of waiting for someone to take
action, they do it themselves. Teen activists do work that takes a tremendous amount of courage,
time, and money. They do not always follow the same path, some succeed, but others fail. Teens
become activists through different experiences: they have a personal struggle, they are inspired
by an animal s struggle, or they read an article about another activist and takes initiative. To start,
many teens become activists from enduring a personal struggle. For example, one of the teens
that became an activist after having a personal struggle was Alex Libby. Alex Libby was
constantly getting bullied until he decided he had enough. Alex starred in the documentary,
Bully , by director Lee Hirsch from Alex Libby s Fight. He and Alex decided to let a million
other kids, and their parents watch this heartbreaking clip about how Alex was bullied. Now
Alex helps other kids who are bullied, and lets them know that he is there for them. Another
example of Alex `struggling is in the later in the documentary, where Alex s mother asks, Does it
make you feel good to be punched? To be shoved, stabbed, or mocked? Alex replied wearily, No. I

This amount of annual saving is possible. $7,467.82 per year is equal to $622.32 per month, or
$143.61 per week. The minimum wages for employee in Australia is $15 an hour. Even
international student might work up to 20 hours a week, which is equal to $300. Since I am living
with my sister in Sydney, I do not have to pay for rent. While a typical international student might
save money by sharing a room with their friends, so that they might pay only $50 $80 a week per
person living in suburb areas. Transportation and food might cost up to $70 a week per person, if
people buy food and cook by themselves. Plus, after my graduating, I might find a company to
sponsor me. Thus, there is no working limit. I might go to work more and save more for my plan
as well. Therefore, this saving target is achievable.

The Life and Music of Gustav Holst Essay
The Life and Music of Gustav Holst
Gustav Holst, born in Cheltenham in September 1847, is still today considered to be one of the
greatest music composers of all time. He was not very fond of music when he was younger, but he
enjoyed the piano. He was sent to Cheltenham Grammar School and forced to take long music
lessons, even though he had neuritis in his hands.
His first job was an organist and Choirmaster at the Choral Society, Bourbon on the Water.
Impressed at his good ear for music, his father borrowed some money to send him to the Royal
College of Music, which he had previously failed to enter.
As he got older, the neuritis in his hands got worse, and it was almost impossible for him to play
the piano, so he took up the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After many refusals of his works, Holst became rather unwell, so took him to Algeria for a holiday.
The warm climate and bright colours of Algeria inspired Holst, so he decided to start working on a
new piece called Beni Mora, but it was not a great success.
In 1912, his performance of The Cloud Messenger was a hit, so he went to Spain for a holiday to
celebrate. While there, he met Clifford Bax, who encouraged him to write a movement called The
Planets. It was very successful.
In 1923, Holst was conducting a rehearsal at University College, when he slipped and fell off the
platform onto his head. The damage was deadly, and it was years before he recovered from the
effects.
Later on, after a trip to America, Holst received great congratulations for his performance of the
Planets, and an anonymous rich man gave him several hundred pounds to spend on his music. But,
Holst was beginning to have bad effects of the concussion he was in earlier, and he couldn t bear to
have anything touch the back of his head. He spent many nights in agony, so his doctor suggested
that he moved away from London.
So that is exactly what he did. He bought a small house in Thaxtead and lived there for nearly a
year, but much of his music was failing.
In 1926, Holst was working in Dorset. He wrote a piece called Egdon Health dedicated to Thomas
Hardy, and he knew it was the best thing he had

The Development Of The Kidneys
The embryological development of the kidneys occurs in three successive phases: the pronephros,
the mesonephros, and the metanephros. Because of the nature in this development, there are many
forms of congenital abnormalities associated with the kidneys. Because of their close
developmental association, there is also a complex relationship between the reproductive system
and the urinary system. During the pronephros phase in foetal development, by day 22, the
intermediate mesoderm (identified lateral to the paraxial mesoderm) gives rise to nephrotomes
(nephric vesicles) in the cervical region via the transformation of epithelial cells. The collection
of the nephrotomes is referred to as the pronephros and will proceed to develop in a cephalo
caudal direction. However, the pronephros is non functional and will atrophy within a few days.
By day 23, the next phase of epithelial cells are induced to develop (lateral to the somite) by the
pronephric duct as it elongates caudally into the thoracic region. The new epithelial tubules
(mesonephric tubules) continue to receive a blood supply from capillary tufts branched from the
dorsal aorta. The mesonephric tubules envelope the capillary tuft and are analogous to Bowman s
capsules and glomerulus, respectively. These tubules are now functioning for a short period of time
to filtrate the blood into the continuation of the pronephric duct, now known as the mesonephric
duct or Wolffian duct. Between 24 and 26 days, the mesonephric

Analysis Of The Lottery
Since reading The Lottery by Shirely Jackson, I ve been thinking more about culture, traditions,
and perspective. Not just that, but how it can sometimes take adopting an unbiased, non
judgmental, or outside perspective in order to see things for what they really are. The way that the
narrator in this story adopts such a position allows for a clearer view of the events of the story.
In The Lottery, the narrator speaks to us in a non participant and objective manner. We hear and see
events unfold from an outside, fly on the wall , perspective. No critique or judgement on the events
is provided by the narrator; we only can ascertain judgements and feelings from what the characters
do and say. By allowing us this viewpoint, we can make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tradition and ritual customs hold a really powerful sway. In the story, we read about how things
have subtlety shifted overtime in the ritual, or the artifacts used during it, yet it continues on. It s
an accepted norm that no one wants to upend. This made me think about how our cultures customs
have shifted with time, but how many aspects remain unchanged. It could be for nearly anything,
such as how holidays are celebrated, or rituals like weddings, or how challenges to old norms are
often viewed with intrepidation or skepticism.
If the author would have adopted a participant point of view in this story, we probably would have
gained more insight into the rationales for holding an annual lottery to stone someone. All we can
ascertain is that the practice is an old

Rutgers University Scholarship Essay
Congratulations, you have been accepted to Rutgers University New Brunswick. These words
were, to me, the words of accomplishment and pride. However, these were not the only words
Rutgers University wrote to me. In the Fall of 2015, I was an incoming senior at Hunterdon
Central Regional High School. Excited about the years ahead, I applied to many schools
throughout the United States. I applied to two schools in Alabama, two schools in Indiana, two
schools in New York, and only one in New Jersey Rutgers. My initial goal was to be my own
person and go to a University that no one in my family had attended. In fact, my goal was to
attend Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. This was a dream because my closest
grandfather had planned to go there to study engineering. Being a bright student, he was accepted
with a scholarship. Getting ready to leave to form a new beginning and only a few days before
graduation, his father passed away. Unable to go from New Jersey to Indiana knowing that his
family needed him, he decided to stay home and run the family tile business. Years later when my
twin brother and I were born, he was God s blessing to us. Growing up without a father, he stepped

What Makes The Walt Disney Company Competitive
Successful companies such as the Walt Disney Company, along with its subsidiaries, always face
tough competition across their numerous markets. Competition is not only restricted to products
and services; each Disney segment also competes against other companies for talent. Recruiting
creative and skilled workers, and retain them is what makes the Walt Disneycompany leader within
the industry.
Disney Parks and Resorts business main competitors are Comcast Corp which owns the Universal

A Brief Note On Alcoholics Anonymous ( Aa )
Introduction
Locating a self help group for the completion of this assignment included completing research on
self help groups such as Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Overeaters Anonymous (OA), Alcoholics
Anonymous (AA). Alcoholism is a debilitating disease that causes unmanageable alcohol usage and
alcohol addicts would prefer the abolishment of alcohol abuse, but differential circumstances cause
many issues when individuals attempt to gain sobriety (O Tousa Grahame, 2014). Alcoholics
Anonymous has developed into the alcohol treatment methodology of choice for individuals seeking
recovery from multiple addictions including but not limited to alcohol, sex, food, gambling

Noteworthy, AA celebrated their initial start date on June 10, 2015, citing the derivation of the
self help support group as June 10, 1935 (Shamra Branscum, 2010). Alcoholics Anonymous is a
substantially influential group considering that they acted in changing the public s perception of
alcohol addiction from being a sin to alcohol addiction actually being a disease (Tavris, 2014).
There are more than two million members involved with AA universally, and the typical duration
of sobriety for these members is greater than seven years (Sifers Peltz, 2013). A major benefit of
AA is the fact that the programs popularity allows widespread accessibility that individuals have the
opportunity to access in the United States and abroad during a diverse amount of time intervals
(Shamra Branscum, 2010). In addition, another benefit of AA membership is that the cost of
membership is free; AA requires no financial support from its members (Galanter, 2014). Moreover,
AA gains its support by receiving charitable donations from its members and other supporters
(Sharma Branscum, 2010).

engagement in the twelve step AA group meetings (Galanter, 2014). Storytelling originated from

The World Apart Doctrine By Leibniz
The metaphysical picture conveyed in the works of Leibniz is especially difficult to decipher,
given the scattering of his views among numerous papers and their profound interconnection with
one another. In this paper, the World Apart Doctrine will be explicated as it appears in Section 14
of the Discourse on Metaphysics. As this excerpt alone is insufficient in explaining the role the
thesis plays in Leibniz s view as a whole, it will be broken down and analyzed as it relates to
connected doctrines, namely those of Universal Expression, Pre Established Harmony, and
Predicate In Notion. The compatibility of the World Apart doctrine with each of these fundamental
views will be considered, and it will be argued that, in all three cases,... Show more content on

For if I express the entire universe and it appears to me as though I am perceiving a cat along
with a collection of other individuals, how could I retain the perception that the perception is
indeed shared and express perceptions of other substances, which are not occurring? It could be
protested that I would be expressing possible beings, and so there is no issue with the appearance
of a shared perception with other substances. However, without my perception of the cat being
shared by any other substances (despite having the appearance to me of being collective), it seems
as though expressions of God and the universe would somehow be less diverse and, therefore, less
perfect than if my perception was shared. The most comprehensive expression of the universe, in

The Arrangement Of The Staff
CHAPTER 1INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
The arrangement of the staff has different affectedly in recent decades all over the world. In the
year 2000, 61% of all married women over age 16 in the US were in the workforce, compared to
just 41% in 1970 (US Census Bureau, 2001); More employees are now engaged in a dual earner
lifestyle where both partners work and share responsibility for family care giving (Greenhaus et al.,
2000). In fact, recent research indicates that 85% of employees report having some day to day
family responsibilities (Bond et al., 1998). These changing demographic trends, coupled with
greater family involvement by men (Pleck, 1985) and heightened interest of employers in
employee s quality of life (Zedeck Mosier, 1990) prompted a proliferation of research on the
relationship between work and family roles. Interest and concern in the interface between work
and non work life, especially family life. Numerous scholars (e.g. O Driscoll, 1996; Edwards
Rothbard, 2000; Frone, 2003; Grzywacz Marks, 2000) have observed that changing social
demographics, altering family role expectations, shifting family structure, aging workforce, as well
as recent technological developments, increasing globalization, and international business
competitiveness have contributed to a blurring of boundaries between the domains of employment
and family and to greater permeability between these domains. For example, globalization may
require key employees to travel or

Analysis Of The Article Mixed Blood By Jeffrey Fish
In the United States it is not uncommon to hear the question, What are you? This seemingly
simple question stems from the American belief that individuals can be divided into different
biologically defined racial groups. However, anthropologists have long argued that U.S. racial
groups are a product of American cultural constructions, meaning that racial groups are not
genetically determined but only represent the way cultures (in this case Americans) classify
people. For example, in the U.S individuals are classified into different races based on their
heritage. However in Brazil, people are classified into a series of tipos based on their physical
appearance. In the article Mixed Blood , Jeffrey Fish supports the claim that raceis nothing more,
but a social construct by demonstrating the cultural basis of raceby comparing how races are
defined in the United Statesand Brazil. Anthropologists argue that race does not exist because it
is not a biological entity. The cornerstone of this basis is Fish s illustration that humans are a
species; therefore we cannot be genetically different. This means that people from anywhere on
earth can mate and produce fertile offspring. Using mitochondria we are able to trace the
migration of mankind by using genetic markers. This is based on the idea that both males and
females inherit mitochondrial DNA identical to their mother. By performing a general DNA
analysis on people from all over the world, social scientists can

The carnivores are obviously not attracted to watch the migration, the same way as the tourists who

Similarly, we become victims of the forces of change when we disregard or ignore our
personalized orientations and end up doing the same things and in the same ways as everybody
else. We choose to learn the same things in school, and eventually pursue the same degrees.
Thereafter, we conduct the same businesses amongst numerous other inclinations. In other words,
we tend to be guided by the environment around us, as well as our peers, as we continue making

Further, we tend to misinterpret the concept of benchmarking, which is a measurement of the quality

The Causes Of Ethnic Diversity In The United Kingdom
Ethnic Diversity in United Kingdom Immigrants, are they really the bad people or are you? Some
say immigrants affected the ethnic diversity. Culture, language, and religion are different in many
ethnic groups, it s amazing on how many different things you can learn. Is it vital that the migration
that happened during the late 19th century has led to an effect amongst the ethnic diversity in the
United Kingdom? In this paper internet sources contained many more accurate information. Books
talked very little about ethnic diversity in United Kingdom. In addition to talking about the 19th
century immigrant the internet had many sources that talked about it. Books contained information
but very information about each ethnic group. Using the internet went into more details about each
ethnic group. It was easier finding more information on the internet than the books. Finding
information in books never change but on the internet the information can be updated. These
sources contained information about the British Asians,Africans,White European,Mexicans, and
immigrants. Using the internet over books gather more information about ethnic groups and
immigrants.
Before we begin, it is important to understand a few key terms related to our studies: ethnic
diversity, ethnic groups, and cultural diversity. Ethnic diversity can mean different things in
varying contexts. It means races from around the world just different in language and skin tone.

Four Quartets And The Four Quartets
Einstein s theory of Relativity hinges on two axioms: the laws of physics are the same for all
frames of reference, and the speed of light in a vacuum is constant. In his famous train thought
experiment, Einstein proved that the order of events depends on the location of the observer. In
essence, he proved time dilation: or the phenomena that time bends and contracts. Eventually, he
realized time dilation is a necessary consequence of keeping the speed of light in a vacuum constant
everywhere in the universe, leading him to eventually conclude that space and time are not
separate, distinct entities, but one linked dimension: spacetime. This single dimension, because it
stretches and contracts, allows for unusual interactions between space... Show more content on

and for Eliot. Einstein s theory allowed for strange realizations, such as light is both a particle and
a wave at the same time and in the same way, which seems to break the foundational law of non

spring from nothing more than the frame of reference from within which Eliot and Einstein work.
Just as time and eternity are separate and distant entities to the normal observer, the observer on the
event horizon sees them as the same thing simultaneously. Perhaps, when viewed from the frame of
reference of the Incarnation, these absurdities resolve into clarity, for here the impossible union of
spheres of existence is

If the America s power grid were to suffer a major attack, it could have cascading effects that would

Vulnerabilities of SCADA Systems
The potential for such attacks has risen sharply in recent years as many SCADA systems,
including those at some very large public power companies, are increasingly integrated with

expenses. Obviously, married people have to spend more money for basic life expenses such as,

these mentioned expenses. Married people can make more money if both couple have a job. In

The Cost Of College Is Too High For Every Student
Today, degrees are reflecting strongly on people s lives. The cost of college has become too high
for every student or parent to afford, which makes it impossible for everyone to obtain a degree.
College level has become too tough and beyond student s reach and abilities, not anyone who
obtaining a degree can get through other majors, such as physics or math, degrees don t evaluate
your skills neither your efforts. For the most important, jobs in our market have been evaluating
their applicants qualifications through their degrees. Degrees demand beyond the reach of people s
abilities and solutions should be suggested to undermine degrees as a job qualification.

Today, many computer programmers without collegedegrees get jobs by presenting examples of
their work. With a little imagination, almost any corporation can come up with analogous work
samples (Murray 2). Although not everyone has the intellectual ability to do college work but
that doesn t make them not have the skills for a job. Twisting percentages in education would be
a good idea for students who are not up to college level. In generally, many of college students
drop out and clearly many of them get on campus without gaining the skills and knowledge in
their freshman and sophomore years to succeed. Jobs and education aren t always related.
Education shouldn t always be the reason for getting a well payed job but rather your skills, not
everything you study in college is remembered and a research by Murray supports his point which
states that, About 10 percent to 20 percent of all 18 year olds can absorb the material in your old
liberal arts textbooks. For engineering and the hard sciences, the percentage is probably not as high
as 10. (Murray 1). In my community, most of the Americans say that the higher educationsystem in
the United States fell and didn t provide students with good value for the money. In addition, even
at times college presidents not only rated the quality of higher education lower than before, but also
rated students lower as well. According to Adam, About 60 percent said high schools

Another customer suggests that the chain will be good for Chelsea, even though the area is
already brimming with places to buy groceries, including Whole Foods and several upscale food

Table 1 illustrates a model developed by The Institute for Corporate Productivity and is titled
The Five Domains of High Performance * Strategy An organization s human capital must be
aligned to the business strategy so that every employee is focused on the same goal. *
Leadership Leaders must communicate performance expectations, develop and promote the right
people and convince employees that their behaviors are critical to success. * Talent HR strategy
must be developed around the business model to ensure that the proper human capital
components are put in place to drive business value. * Culture The values and beliefs at all levels
and in all departments must be aligned, and existing and future leaders should be role models for
this culture. * Market Every employee in the organization should understand the marketplace and
customers and should know how his or her job impacts business results. Table 1 Trader Joe s is an
exemplary example of putting this model in to action. They build their organization by first
investing in their workforce. They first begin by seeking out a particular type of employee by
customizing the job desription to the type of corporate culture they wish to encompass. They look

Media Reaction on Immigration
Immigration issues are not issues only encountered here in the United States, but are also issues
faced throughout the world. There have been numerous of debates on the issues of immigration in
the United States. The most controversial was the passing of a new bill in Arizona. Governor Jan
Brewer passed into Arizona legislature the SB1070, which became very controversial because of
the demands that this law was enforcing. This controversial bill gives any Arizona law enforcement

This law was sending a very strong message to all of the illegal aliens living in Arizona. The SB
1070 was written deliberately with aggressive measures intended to promote to the estimated
460,000 illegal aliens to go home (About, 2011). The issue with some parts of the bill was that it
was racially profiling, and it promoted discrimination against mainly immigrants. The federal
judge also stopped the section of the law that made it a crime for any for any foreign resident
living in the state of Arizona to carry immigration paperwork at all times. In addition, the judge
also stopped the part where it would make it a crime for any illegal or foreign resident living in
the state of Arizona to solicit, perform, or apply for work. This gave illegal aliens living in state
of Arizona a big relief to know that those main parts of the bill were stopped, giving them the
advantage to continue to move forward with their lives instead of worrying about getting deported.
Many people have their own opinions when relating in regard to illegal immigrants hurting the
United States economy. There have been numerous of economist say there is no doubt the U.S.
benefits from illegal immigrants. All of the undocumented people living in the United States
contribute every day in our economy, they contribute as workers, taxpayers and consumers. All
immigrants pay sales and property taxes and most pay federal and state income taxes as well. If

Winston s Character Comparison With Big Brother
Winston Character Response Like all people, fictional or not, Winston is a complex and
multifaceted character. However, by viewing his choices, I can easily decide how I perceive his
character. Winston is a person I generally admire even though there are some aspects of him that I
disfavor. Winston constantly makes the decision to rebel against Big Brother in little ways. Some
examples of this are when he wrote DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER multiple times in a journal,
meeting with and having a relationship with Julia, and by involving himself with the Brotherhood. I
admire the rebellious nature of Winston because I believe it takes courage and deep thought to
diverge from what your government and society wants you to do. Being rebellious shows

Research Paper On Seamore
Seamore was a seal that everyone in the ocean knew. His personality and way of life made him
very hard to miss. The ocean knew him as the crazy seal that never stopped moving. Seamore
would swim all over the arctic ocean, from iceberg to iceberg as if his energy never gave out. He
lived in an igloo all by himself just a few meters off shore from the ocean. Next to his home was
a huge mountain made entirely of ice that stood over 300 feet tall. Considering the size of the
wildlife, this was a challenge not only to climb, but also to bypass. The mountain was about half of
it s height in width. Everyday, Seamore could watch other wildlife battling to get to the top of the
mountain. One day when Seamore was watching, he became inspired. He wanted to get to the top
and to be known as the first to ever make it to the tallest point of this mountain, the mountain that

Pop Culture And Its Effect On Society
Introduction
Popular culture has manifested itself in a number of ways. Currently, the most commonly used
method of spreading and exchanging opinions, ideas, art, and other concepts is through the
internet. Never before has it been so easy to shed light on a person or an idea, giving it levels of
popularity that were considered inconceivable in ages past. In many circumstances the way
people are portrayed through pop culture is most likely how they were perceived by the bulk of
people. Pop/culture serves as a way to connect people; help them relate to one another over shared
opinions and interests. It was and is the representative of the majority. But what of the times before
the internet? How was pop culture expressed in a time when people did not have the ability to
express their thoughts and opinions with millions at a time almost instantaneously? Theatre is one
of the most time honored means of entertainment. Before television and computers and the
internet, actors would don a costume and tell act for masses of people. It was a form of
storytelling that was not limited to the literate or rich or the scholars, but could be enjoyed by
anyone form any economic background. Through it we can see our history and opinions in the form
of characters, plots, and settings. We can observe the changing of mainstreamopinions through the
common themes and recurring motifs in the most popular plays.
This is particularity true in regards to females in theatre. Throughout the years we

Web Design Memo
The purpose of this memo is to communicate my efforts and process associated with writing the
final assignment.
Motivation Behind Topic
When considering mechanisms and processes to write a proposal about, the one idea that came to
my mind was ENGL 313, Rhetorical Website Design. As a former student in that course, who was
uninformed the class involved coding, I wanted to make the subject easier for future students. I
chose to stick with the topic for the technical description because I genuinely think the small
recommendations I offered will help students tremendously. I wanted to make the experience better
so participants can be enthusiastic about web design. I wrote with my perspective in mind,
reflecting how I would have benefited from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That being said, I took on all the challenging aspects of this course. The most difficult part of
writing the technical description was using appropriate language to speak towards my educated
audience. For example, choosing whether or not to write a definition, or writing an extension of a
technical definition. I also wanted to convey to the audience I was also well educated in the
material I was discussing. I had to find a balance in the language I spoke, which proved to be
difficult.
Another struggle was writing learning objectives. I had to research various sources about the reason
for them, how to write them effectively, and the levels of thinking that can addressed. I had to shift
my mindset from a student to a teacher. I thought, what are top three outcomes I want my students
to achieve by the end of the week.
Successes
While writing learning objectives was a difficult task, I also found enjoyment out of the process. I
delighted in writing realistic expectations that students could visualize for the week. The section I
am most proud of is Step 6: Constructing Unit Plan. In this area, all of the steps came to life and
put into practice. I reviewed the current class schedule and made adjustments based on what I
observed. I evaluated previous class schedules and took elements that provided the clearest
communication. I compiled those features and constructed the unit

Pros And Cons Of Sleeping Bag
There are many factors to consider when searching for a child s sleeping bag. Since kids have a
lower body mass than grown ups, an adult sleeping bag is out of the question. Get one too big, and
heat will escape. Grab one too small, and your child will feel uncomfortable.
Usually, there are two types of sleeping bags: indoor and outdoor. Indoor styles are light, making
them perfect for nap time, sleepovers, and movie night. Outdoor models contain heavier materials
and hold more cushion to make outdoor sleeping bearable.
Naturally, the criteria for an indoor sleeping bag will differ from one designed for outdoor slumber.

  • 2. Al Minor Associates, Inc. V. Martin Case Summary Robert Martin was sued for misappropriation of trade secrets in the case of Al Minor Associates, Inc. vs Martin, in the state of Ohio. The facts of the case are as follows: Robert Martin, a former employee of Al Minor Associates, formed his own company in 2003, offering the same services as Al Minor Associates. He did so while still employed at the company. This means that Robert, who was hired in 1998, still had access to its customer files and sensitive account information belonging to Al Minor .Associates, while forming his own business to compete with them. He proceeded to memorize customer information, that he then used in his own business, once he resigned from Al Minor Associates in 2004. Robert solicited fifteen of Al Minor s clients for business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trial court in Ohio ruled in favor of Al Minor .Associates and awarded them $25,973 for a violation of the Trade Secret Act. The Franklin County Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court s ruling stating that, a client list such as the one at issue fits the statutory definition of a trade secret under R.C. 1333.61(D), AMA s memorized client list warrants trade secret status (Strobel). Martin appealed to the Supreme Court of Ohio, claiming that his memory cannot be the basis for a trade secret violation and that the appellate court s decision overly restricted his right to compete in business against Al Minor .Associates (Strobel). The Supreme Court of Perone 2 Ohio upheld the appellate court s decision stating that information that constitutes a trade secret pursuant to statute does not lose its character as a trade secret if it has been memorized ... • 3. English Literature Review The article, Relationship Between Language Skills and Acquisition Rate of Sight Words Among English Language Learners, by Matthew K. Burns and Lori A. Helman, is about the study conducted on English language learners (ELL). The study examined the sight word acquisition rate (AR) of 43 second grade students who were English language learners (ELL) from three diverse, urban schools. The acquisition rate (AR) is the amount of information a child can successfully rehearse and later recall (CITATION). The 43 secondgraders that were used for the study speak the language Hmong, which is a Chinese dialect, and it is also their first language. Children that are ELL are a diverse group of students that have some unmet academic needs (CITATION). One solution to this problem is to improve the individualized instruction for ELL. Teachers should recognize the student s skill level and match their skill level with the appropriate task. Meaning that teachers should not give the student material that is too hard for them to comprehend. When given the right material, the students can effectively learn what is needed. So, for the study researchers examined the effect of imagery level on word reading. The researchers would present the ELL with 40 words at a time whether they knew them or not. The cards containing the words were presented one at a time to each child in a clustered random order (CITATION). If the child could not correctly identify at least eight of the words, then words taken from the first list of words. If the child correctly identified all 40 words selected, then the words selected from the third list of words were used. The presentation order of words taken from each of the three word lists was randomly determined. Words were identified as known if the student orally read the word correctly within 2 seconds. Any word not read correctly or requiring more than 2 seconds to read was considered unknown . After completing the research, the results show there is a significant relationship between the level of English proficiency and the rate of acquisition of English sight words (CITATION). Researchers also found that the imagery level of the word did not affect how well the word was orally read, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. King Jeremiah Research Paper Next, we read in verses two to three: To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. Like many of the prophetic Books, we are given the range of Jeremiah s career as a prophet to the nation which spanned some fifty years. In verse two we learn that Gods call to Jeremiah comes in the 13th year of the reign of King Josiah which was in 627 BC. At this point the wicked king Manasseh is dead, to be followed by his wicked son Amon who eventually dies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first reason Jeremiah should be encouraged to take up the ministry is that his very life is rooted in the unshakable, sovereign purposes of God. The same is true for every child of God. Second, God sanctified him. He set him apart for something significant. And that is true for us too. In giving every Christian grace and gifts, God consecrated us to be like Jesus and to use our gifts for his glory. And third, God ordained Jeremiah to be a prophet. I ordained you to be a prophet to the nations. This is why Jeremiah was born. This is his destiny. And you have one too. No Christian exists merely to make an honest living, raise a family, enjoy retirement, and die. Every one of us is called to a ministry. Then in verse six we hear of Jeremiah s anxiety and excuse when he is called: Then said I: Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth. This is quite similar to the excuse Moses made who said: O my Lord, I am not eloquent. But God says who makes man s mouth now go. And enabling the call, the Lord encourages Jeremiah by saying (1:7 8): Do not say, I am a youth, for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you, says the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Audit Plan- Glaxosmithkline Audit Plan GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Key business and audit risk: In order to make the report more efficient we must identify the key areas of business risk and auditing risk. Business risk can be defined as the risk, which could affect an organization s ability to achieve its objectives (Gray and Manson, 2007). Audit risk is defined as the risk that the auditor gives an inappropriate audit opinion when the financial statements are materially misstated (Soltani, 2007). In Gray and Manson (2007) s book Audit Risk can be split into three separate elements : 1 Inherent risk reflects the auditor s opinion on the possibility of material misstatement on financial statement. 2 Control risk is the risk that internal control policies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, misstatement via the means of non existent sales or sales which have been realised in the incorrect period. Secondly sales may not be recorded in order to lower sales so provide evidence in further periods of higher growth than is actually correct. Thirdly sales could be incorrectly entered into the system providing incorrect figures. Therefore one would need to verify the sales books, and the controls in place to prevent errors either intentional or unintentional. Debts The level of debt that a company holds and their ability to repay this debt is an important risk factor for GSK. There is a higher risk for GSK than for some of its competitors, as GSK has a higher leverage than the likes of Pfizer and J J (Financial Times, 2010). However this in itself can in some cases be more efficient as long as the entity has the cash flow in order to repay these debts. Therefore one has to ensure during the audit that GSK will have sufficient cash flows to meet its repayments for the year. Cash management Sufficient liquid cash in a company is important to defend against economic uncertainty. A small cash reserve/ cash flow, can be a control and detection risk, which may result profitable projects having to be scrapped or assets sold to increase cash flow Also one has to ensure that the book values for GSK s debtor and creditors are correct and verified as they make up large sections of the balance sheet and a misstatement of these values would ... • 10. The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties Essay The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on Nanostructured metals the collective oscillations of the conduction electrons termed plasmons lead to most striking phenomenon encountered in these structures are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number of geometries and in various metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver. Under certain circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light scattering and absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, based upon calculations, Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle with a dielectric core and a metallic shell could produce SPR modes with a much larger range of wavelengths. The first nanoshells were made by Zhou et al. In the 1990 s. They used a Au2S core surrounded by a gold shell. Variations of these shells made it possible to shift the standard gold colloid plasmonresonance peak from ~520 nm up to ~900 nm. There was a limit however, of less than 40 nm on the size of nanoshell that they could achieve due to the chemistry of their synthesis reactions. The process also produced large amounts of gold colloid as a secondary product which gave an additional absorption peak at ~520 nm. Halas and coworkers synthesized a new type of gold nanoshell that overcame many of the limitations of the Au2S core type nanoshell. The new method replaced the Au2S core with a silica core and made it possible to exert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. American Rockwell Freedom From Want Analysis In contrast to the liberation and artistic freedoms of Pollock s revolutionary art, the American government preferred conservative work of artists like Norman Rockwell. Norman Rockwell s paintings embodied a traditional, Regionalist style. One of Rockwell s most renowned pieces of work is the Freedom From Want, representing the traditional and perfected American lifestyle. Painted in 1943, Rockwell depicts an ideal white American family celebrating Thanksgiving dinner. As an artist, Rockwell specialized in displaying traditional and conservative American values. Through identifiable shapes and brushstrokes, Rockwell creates a scene with a clear message of American tradition, unlike Pollock. It stands as a symbol of what the ideal, nuclear American family looks like. • 12. Taking a Look at Divorce Divorce is viewed differently by many people. Sometimes this is due to experiences, what others have said, or looking at studies that are not always accurate. However, not everyone can have the same views about marriage ending in divorce. In the article, No Easy Answers: Why the Popular View of Divorce Is Wrong by Constance Ahrons she shows her view on divorce. Ahrons believes that divorce does not have long lasting damaging effects on children (65). Divorce can affect children in the familybut the way the decisions are made is what will change the way the kids are influenced. First of all, opposing viewpoints say that divorce can cause the child to feel like their life is not going to be the same. In contrast, this is not a highly supported statement. One thing that is commonly stated about divorce is, once two married parents with children decide to divorce, that they are no longer a family (66). Although, they may not be living together in the same house it does not mean they are still not a family. No matter what, the parents will always be linked to each other because of the children. Is that not the definition of a family? In addition, assumptions are made that if people are married with kids that they are an ideal family This is not the case, if the marriage is not working out and is only causing problems amongst the parents and kids than that is not considered a family either. Divorce does not cause children to lose their family, if anything it helps to fix them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Waiting Room Elizabeth Bishop The poem, In the Waiting Room shown within Elizabeth Bishop s book The Complete Poems 1927 1979 is an engaging and descriptive poem about a child s self coming into adulthood. Elizabeth, the child, narrates the story from her point of view, reading the National Geographic while waiting for Aunt Consuelo to be finished with her appointment. The National Geographic however, is a gateway which portrays Elizabeth s adultside, showing her as a child what is to come as she grows older. Aunt Consuelo and those within the waiting room during the time when Elizabeth looks around adds on to this point, making her ask more questions about her own name, as well as her becoming like her Aunt. Which started with her picking up and flipping through, the yellow margins of the National Geographic. The idea behind the book National Geographic is to transport the reader into a location that they have not been too. For this poem however, it transports Elizabeth to her being an adult. Showing her what is to come with adulthood, Babies with pointed heads wound round and round with string; black, naked women with necks wound round and round with wire like the necks of light bulbs. Their breasts were horrifying (26 31) Elizabeth is horrified with what she sees as clearly stated, she does not wish to become an adult. To be given these breasts, or even the experience of a child. This is also a very depressing part of the passage because it is representative of Carl s life really being over for good. Basically it is like wrapping him up and throwing away the key , because he is no more. The word choice that Guterson uses are key to the depressing and scary mood. He could have just said that Abel Martinson got sick. But instead he said he vomited and described it in detail. This gives an effect of how disgusting the dead body was. It is very sad for the reader to imagine because they can see how sad of a death is was from how sick Abel got. Another example of Guterson s wonderful diction is when he described Carl being borne by the webbing . This gives the effect of Carl being trapped and having no way to escape. This could be scary to some because they might think that he could have avoided his death if he was not trapped by the net. It is also sad, again, because there is no coming back from death. An activist is an individual who campaigns to bring about political or social change. Teen activists are teenagers who decide to fight for what is right, and instead of waiting for someone to take action, they do it themselves. Teen activists do work that takes a tremendous amount of courage, time, and money. They do not always follow the same path, some succeed, but others fail. Teens become activists through different experiences: they have a personal struggle, they are inspired by an animal s struggle, or they read an article about another activist and takes initiative. To start, many teens become activists from enduring a personal struggle. For example, one of the teens that became an activist after having a personal struggle was Alex Libby. Alex Libby was constantly getting bullied until he decided he had enough. Alex starred in the documentary, Bully , by director Lee Hirsch from Alex Libby s Fight. He and Alex decided to let a million other kids, and their parents watch this heartbreaking clip about how Alex was bullied. • 21. The Life and Music of Gustav Holst Essay The Life and Music of Gustav Holst Gustav Holst, born in Cheltenham in September 1847, is still today considered to be one of the greatest music composers of all time. He was not very fond of music when he was younger, but he enjoyed the piano. He was sent to Cheltenham Grammar School and forced to take long music lessons, even though he had neuritis in his hands. His first job was an organist and Choirmaster at the Choral Society, Bourbon on the Water. Impressed at his good ear for music, his father borrowed some money to send him to the Royal College of Music, which he had previously failed to enter. As he got older, the neuritis in his hands got worse, and it was almost impossible for him to play the piano, so he took up the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After many refusals of his works, Holst became rather unwell, so took him to Algeria for a holiday. The warm climate and bright colours of Algeria inspired Holst, so he decided to start working on a new piece called Beni Mora, but it was not a great success. In 1912, his performance of The Cloud Messenger was a hit, so he went to Spain for a holiday to celebrate. While there, he met Clifford Bax, who encouraged him to write a movement called The Planets. It was very successful. In 1923, Holst was conducting a rehearsal at University College, when he slipped and fell off the platform onto his head. The damage was deadly, and it was years before he recovered from the effects. Later on, after a trip to America, Holst received great congratulations for his performance of the Planets, and an anonymous rich man gave him several hundred pounds to spend on his music. But, Holst was beginning to have bad effects of the concussion he was in earlier, and he couldn t bear to have anything touch the back of his head. He spent many nights in agony, so his doctor suggested that he moved away from London. So that is exactly what he did. He bought a small house in Thaxtead and lived there for nearly a year, but much of his music was failing. In 1926, Holst was working in Dorset. He wrote a piece called Egdon Health dedicated to Thomas Hardy, and he knew it was the best thing he had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sample Critical Article Review Running Head: CRITICAL ARTICLE REVIEW1 Critical Article Review Name University of Memphis Article Review Introduction For a long time researchers have been trying to study behavior and offer solutions to some of the behavior problems. Yeager et al. (2013) carried out a study to determine how criticism can be provided effectively without undermining motivation as well as children s selfВconfidence. • 24. The Development Of The Kidneys The embryological development of the kidneys occurs in three successive phases: the pronephros, the mesonephros, and the metanephros. Because of the nature in this development, there are many forms of congenital abnormalities associated with the kidneys. Because of their close developmental association, there is also a complex relationship between the reproductive system and the urinary system. During the pronephros phase in foetal development, by day 22, the intermediate mesoderm (identified lateral to the paraxial mesoderm) gives rise to nephrotomes (nephric vesicles) in the cervical region via the transformation of epithelial cells. The collection of the nephrotomes is referred to as the pronephros and will proceed to develop in a cephalo caudal direction. However, the pronephros is non functional and will atrophy within a few days. By day 23, the next phase of epithelial cells are induced to develop (lateral to the somite) by the pronephric duct as it elongates caudally into the thoracic region. The new epithelial tubules (mesonephric tubules) continue to receive a blood supply from capillary tufts branched from the dorsal aorta. The mesonephric tubules envelope the capillary tuft and are analogous to Bowman s capsules and glomerulus, respectively. These tubules are now functioning for a short period of time to filtrate the blood into the continuation of the pronephric duct, now known as the mesonephric duct or Wolffian duct. Not just that, but how it can sometimes take adopting an unbiased, non judgmental, or outside perspective in order to see things for what they really are. The way that the narrator in this story adopts such a position allows for a clearer view of the events of the story. In The Lottery, the narrator speaks to us in a non participant and objective manner. We hear and see events unfold from an outside, fly on the wall , perspective. No critique or judgement on the events is provided by the narrator; we only can ascertain judgements and feelings from what the characters do and say. By allowing us this viewpoint, we can make ... Tradition and ritual customs hold a really powerful sway. In the story, we read about how things have subtlety shifted overtime in the ritual, or the artifacts used during it, yet it continues on. It s an accepted norm that no one wants to upend. This made me think about how our cultures customs have shifted with time, but how many aspects remain unchanged. It could be for nearly anything, such as how holidays are celebrated, or rituals like weddings, or how challenges to old norms are often viewed with intrepidation or skepticism. However, these were not the only words Rutgers University wrote to me. In the Fall of 2015, I was an incoming senior at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. Excited about the years ahead, I applied to many schools throughout the United States. I applied to two schools in Alabama, two schools in Indiana, two schools in New York, and only one in New Jersey Rutgers. This was a dream because my closest grandfather had planned to go there to study engineering. Being a bright student, he was accepted with a scholarship. Alcoholics Anonymous is a substantially influential group considering that they acted in changing the public s perception of alcohol addiction from being a sin to alcohol addiction actually being a disease (Tavris, 2014). There are more than two million members involved with AA universally, and the typical duration of sobriety for these members is greater than seven years (Sifers Peltz, 2013). A major benefit of AA is the fact that the programs popularity allows widespread accessibility that individuals have the opportunity to access in the United States and abroad during a diverse amount of time intervals (Shamra Branscum, 2010). In addition, another benefit of AA membership is that the cost of membership is free; AA requires no financial support from its members (Galanter, 2014). Moreover, AA gains its support by receiving charitable donations from its members and other supporters (Sharma Branscum, 2010). In this paper, the World Apart Doctrine will be explicated as it appears in Section 14 of the Discourse on Metaphysics. As this excerpt alone is insufficient in explaining the role the thesis plays in Leibniz s view as a whole, it will be broken down and analyzed as it relates to connected doctrines, namely those of Universal Expression, Pre Established Harmony, and Predicate In Notion. The compatibility of the World Apart doctrine with each of these fundamental views will be considered, and it will be argued that, in all three cases,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, without my perception of the cat being shared by any other substances (despite having the appearance to me of being collective), it seems as though expressions of God and the universe would somehow be less diverse and, therefore, less perfect than if my perception was shared. • 32. The Arrangement Of The Staff CHAPTER 1INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background The arrangement of the staff has different affectedly in recent decades all over the world. In the year 2000, 61% of all married women over age 16 in the US were in the workforce, compared to just 41% in 1970 (US Census Bureau, 2001); More employees are now engaged in a dual earner lifestyle where both partners work and share responsibility for family care giving (Greenhaus et al., 2000). In fact, recent research indicates that 85% of employees report having some day to day family responsibilities (Bond et al., 1998). These changing demographic trends, coupled with greater family involvement by men (Pleck, 1985) and heightened interest of employers in employee s quality of life (Zedeck Mosier, 1990) prompted a proliferation of research on the relationship between work and family roles. Interest and concern in the interface between work and non work life, especially family life. Numerous scholars (e.g. O Driscoll, 1996; Edwards Rothbard, 2000; Frone, 2003; Grzywacz Marks, 2000) have observed that changing social demographics, altering family role expectations, shifting family structure, aging workforce, as well as recent technological developments, increasing globalization, and international business competitiveness have contributed to a blurring of boundaries between the domains of employment and family and to greater permeability between these domains. For example, globalization may require key employees to travel or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Analysis Of The Article Mixed Blood By Jeffrey Fish In the United States it is not uncommon to hear the question, What are you? This seemingly simple question stems from the American belief that individuals can be divided into different biologically defined racial groups. However, anthropologists have long argued that U.S. racial groups are a product of American cultural constructions, meaning that racial groups are not genetically determined but only represent the way cultures (in this case Americans) classify people. For example, in the U.S individuals are classified into different races based on their heritage. However in Brazil, people are classified into a series of tipos based on their physical appearance. In the article Mixed Blood , Jeffrey Fish supports the claim that raceis nothing more, but a social construct by demonstrating the cultural basis of raceby comparing how races are defined in the United Statesand Brazil. Anthropologists argue that race does not exist because it is not a biological entity. The cornerstone of this basis is Fish s illustration that humans are a species; therefore we cannot be genetically different. This means that people from anywhere on earth can mate and produce fertile offspring. Using mitochondria we are able to trace the migration of mankind by using genetic markers. This is based on the idea that both males and females inherit mitochondrial DNA identical to their mother. In essence, he proved time dilation: or the phenomena that time bends and contracts. Eventually, he realized time dilation is a necessary consequence of keeping the speed of light in a vacuum constant everywhere in the universe, leading him to eventually conclude that space and time are not separate, distinct entities, but one linked dimension: spacetime. The Incarnation provides the only instance wherein time and eternity collide, and co exist. The Incarnation allows time past, time present, and time yet to come a simultaneous existence. However, the implications of simultaneity drastically change reality, both for Einstein and for Eliot. Einstein s theory allowed for strange realizations, such as light is both a particle and a wave at the same time and in the same way, which seems to break the foundational law of non contradiction. Eliot s realization that the Incarnation redeems all time by allowing it all to exist together, seems to face the same problem. However, this seemingly self referential absurdity may spring from nothing more than the frame of reference from within which Eliot and Einstein work. Just as time and eternity are separate and distant entities to the normal observer, the observer on the event horizon sees them as the same thing simultaneously.
