However, as I led the group north in the direction of our unseen target the trail at times would blend
into the rocky terrain and become challenging to follow. Silhouetted against the grayish sky to our

What helped me analyze this was Carol Berkenkotter and Donald Murray s analysis of the writing
process. Donald Murray was analyzed for two months in his everyday life and they analyzed how the
environment he was in when writing affected his writing outcomes. The importance of the audience

Uaa s Stalking The Bogeyman
UAA s production of Stalking the Bogeyman created an uneasy atmosphere that placed the audience
in the mind of the main character for eighty minutes. The small cast made spectacular use of the space
around the audience, lighting, costume and set designs, as well as unique vocal choices that gave
definition and life to their characters. I would also like to commend the cast for braving what was an
emotionally difficult production.
The opening scenes of Stalking the Bogeyman gave the audience a great opportunity to learn a little
bit about each of the characters. While the parents were a little more bland because they weren t the
story s focus, David and the Bogeyman both have very well defined characteristics. I was taken aback
by the actor s ability to transform his whole body, voice included, into a seven year old boy s. The
enthusiastic pitch in his voice and the rising and falling in energy it carried was unique to a seven year
old, and was portrayed very well. David s transformation throughout the rest of the performance took
the audience through his several stages of his trauma and his aging body. By the end of the

Initially, I had some pre existing notions of what his character would be like before he took the stage,
however his polite, energetic demeanor surprised me. The energy he used drew me in and I had
believed that the Bogeyman was really a seventeen year old jock. His quick transformation after
