Abstract
This research paper is a compilation of information gathered during lectures and
through the web on the Nervous System and the Reward Pathway. This paper
examines the structure of these systems, their discovery and the effects that drugs
have on influencing these systems and how addictions are formed.
Nervous System and Reward Pathway
The nervous system is broken down into two parts, The Central Nervous System and
the Peripheral Nervous System. Each System has its own function but works together
to engage the brain and body in all aspects of life such as bodily functions, sensory
processing, learning, reasoning, creativity, experiences and emotions. Looking further
into the nervous system is where neurons and neurotransmitters come into play. This
system of neurotransmission is responsible for ensuring that the Central Nervous
System and the Peripheral Nervous system communicate effectively. Sending and
receiving messages about the body internally and externally. Part of this process
called neurotransmission includes our desires and motivations, which we can relate
to as the rewards pathway. Located in the center of the brain the rewards pathway

This type of speech is described as narrative report of speech act. This is due to the
fact that the narrator does not commit entirely to what was said in the speech (Leech

being talked about enough. It s sad that we as people have simply became
comfortable with people killing others simply because they are doing something we
do not like. We also don t act upon the killing of thousands of women and their

Choose dialogue over death and destruction. That is a sentiment that we can all stand
behind. It is not too late to create a world where words kill wars. Women in Iran are
seen as property. They have no rights. A young Iranian feminist stated that her and

Introduction.
Equity by its nature is a fluid subject where maxims are simply guidelines to be used
or ignored at the whim of the court and solutions to litigation sometimes aim at
justice (or expedience) at the expense of the legal rules of equity (equity will
[sometimes] follow the law).
This is illustrated by the two overarching maxims where equity will not assist a
volunteer and equity will not perfect an imperfect gift when in practise there are
established systems of equity which often do assist a volunteer and under the very
flexible principle of benevolent construction the courts often do perfect an imperfect
gift. This is the case even where it appears to directly contradict common law such as
that from Bridge LJ in Paul v Constance .
Into this fluid area of the law is imposed the common law in the premise of this
essay from Turner LJ in Milroy v Lord : There are three modes of making a gift and
these modes are mutually exclusive (1) An outright transfer of the legal title to the
property (2) A transfer of the legal title to the property to a trustee to hold or (3) A
self declaration of trust.
This essay will look towards the cases and academic comment discussing this premise
and the further recognised areas where equity does assist a volunteer and will perfect
an imperfect gift and will conclude that it is difficult to state with any certainty that
anything is mutually exclusive in equity and trusts.

As I walked on a sandy path, I took a moment to admire the scenery. The mountains
and their snow capped tips looked so mighty and big, that I felt small and
inconspicuous. The pine trees swayed back and forth, and pronghorn pranced on
the brilliant green grass. Everything seemed so beautiful. Bison wallowed across

by Judith Wright by a variation of literary techniques and contrasting imagery types
such as natural, animal and sensory.
John Foulcher conveys the meaning of his poem For the fire by the use of literal
techniques, especially imagery. In the poem for the fire there is a variety of natural
imagery, sound imagery and violent vocabulary as this places the setting, time and
specific event spoken of in the poem: outside gathering kindling . In the first and
second stanzas of For The Fire the setting is placed in the forest with a male
character isolating himself. This is shown by natural and sound imagery for example
in the first stanza sound imagery is placed : It s singular, human thud in this quote
John Foulcher also uses onomatopoeia for a heightened sensory imagery effect. In
contrast the second stanza uses natural imagery: Wind through sparse leaves like
clockwork is a great example as it tells the audience about the isolation as a setting
whilst using a literary device which is simile.
For the Fire conveys the themes the violence of nature or survival of the fittest.
The Poems theme is displayed through the violent and aggressive descriptive
language for example in the third stanza kookaburra hacks with it s axe blade beak
. The language in this quote gives a visual image of the violence in nature that
occurs. In the fourth and fifth stanza enjambment is placed to create a sense of
violent imagery and emphasise the violence for example it s legs arched; and claws
clutching at the air . In both of the quotes John Foulcher uses alliteration to focus the
audiences attention to the more violent words generating further visual imagery.
In the poem there is also an idea of man verses nature, this relates to the survival of
the fittest. John Foulcher shows this through the use of first person point of view.
For example in the second stanza Then above me the sound drops this again
possesses sensory imagery creating a deeper human aura throughout the poem.
Foulcher further uses a human aura to build a sense of natural imagery for example

John Foulcher conveys the meaning of his poem For the fire by the use of literal techniques, especially imagery. In the poem for the fire there is a variety of natural imagery, sound imagery and violent vocabulary as this places the setting, time and specific event spoken of in the poem: outside gathering kindling . In the first and second stanzas of For The Fire the setting is placed in the forest with a male character isolating himself. This is shown by natural and sound imagery for example in the first stanza sound imagery is placed : It s singular, human thud in this quote John Foulcher also uses onomatopoeia for a heightened sensory imagery effect. In contrast the second stanza uses natural imagery: Wind through sparse leaves like clockwork is a great example as it tells the audience about the isolation as a setting whilst using a literary device which is simile. For the Fire conveys the themes the violence of nature or survival of the fittest. The Poems theme is displayed through the violent and aggressive descriptive language for example in the third stanza kookaburra hacks with it s axe blade beak . The language in this quote gives a visual image of the violence in nature that occurs. In the fourth and fifth stanza enjambment is placed to create a sense of violent imagery and emphasise the violence for example it s legs arched; and claws clutching at the air . In both of the quotes John Foulcher uses alliteration to focus the audiences attention to the more violent words generating further visual imagery. In the poem there is also an idea of man verses nature, this relates to the survival of the fittest. John Foulcher shows this through the use of first person point of view. For example in the second stanza Then above me the sound drops this again possesses sensory imagery creating a deeper human aura throughout the poem. Foulcher further uses a human aura to build a sense of natural imagery for example in the last stanza : I pick up these twigs and leave them adding closure
