Libertarian Theory Of Justice In Health Care
Arguing whether health care should be basic human rights comes down to the question of what is just.
Distributive justice justice regarding the fair distribution of society s advantages and disadvantages
and more will help the debate. There are different views to this question, including libertarian theories
of justice, utilitarian theories of justice, and egalitarian theories of justice. There are also Kantian view
and human rights view. Libertarian theories of justice states that the benefits and burdens of society
should be distributed through the fair workings of a free market. In this view, the role of the
government is to protect the rights of individuals to freely pursue their own interests in the economic
marketplace without violations of their liberty through coercion, manipulation, or fraud. Government
may use coercion, but only to preserve liberty. Beyond these protections, the government has no
obligation to adjust the distribution of benefits and burdens among ... Show more content on

With utilitarian theories of justice, what is just would depend on the situation and thus impact what
kind of health care is provided to people. This means that depending on the calculations of what
would yield the most beneficial result, the government may implement a universal health care
insurance, or a qualified right to health care, or a two tier plan, etc. Egalitarian theories of justice,
similar to Kantian ethics, state that important benefits and burdens of society should be distributed
equally. Egalitarian view would distribute benefits equally, not judged by the workings of a free
market, nor is the utility of the society be the most important factor. Human rights approach state that
broader entitlements, such as fair treatment for all, freedom from coercion, nondiscrimination, etc, can
insure the just distributions of health

Students Knowledge Of Adaptive Sports On Campus
Statement of theme (Sean) In the beginning phases of our video project, we struggled to find a theme
specific enough to embody all of the ideas we had as a group. We were very set on a certain direction,
but that direction included a lot of different subsections that would make our task even more
complicated. Accessibility on college campuses and beyond is a very important topic and one that
aligned with our passion. But the likelihood for us to travel to another campus to conduct interviews
collect data was very low. This centered our focus on the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
In our own community there are many improvements necessary. The University of Illinois is home to
some of the finest athletes with disabilities, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a student athlete is even more demanding. The distance that people with disabilities have to go
to practice, train, go to class utilize DRES is ridiculous. The locations of these areas are not close in
proximity. Wheelchair athlete should be able to have their own facility in which they can operate
efficiently and effectively. In athletics, athletes should be compensated for the hard work that they put
in. Even as a walk on athlete for a DIA recognized team, there are my added benefits. When the
quality of life for wheelchair athletes increases, we will be able to recruit better athletes and place the
University of Illinois ahead every other program in the nation. After conducting interviews we have
learned that this will be a hard and difficult process, but with willing and passionate individuals, it is
possible. Relevance to RST professions with social context that justifies its relevance (Vince) Our
topic of bringing notice to adaptive sports programs at the U of I is very much relevant to RST
professions. Adaptive sports and those who participate on our campus are extremely passionate about
what they do, and it is the same for those participating around the nation. Our campus and the
following we have built here at the U of I only makes up a small percentage of what can be found
elsewhere. After doing this project, we determined that not too many students are aware of the sports
programs available for disabled athletes. For RST

Baba Joon Essay
Baba Joon is the newly released movie by writer/director Yuval Delshad. With a film career that grew
from the documentary world, this is his first feature. Never one to shy from reality, Delshad turned to
a subject that spoke to his heart; the father/son relationship. To create authenticity, the movie is filmed
in the dusty village where Delshad grew up and the actors speak a blend of Hebrew and Farsi, just like
it was in the 1980 s of his childhood. Delshad loves the fact that life imitates art, My baby, Yitamar,
was conceived during the start of photography and he is already trying to crawl! Baba Joon centers on
the conflict of a traditional father, Yitzhak, whose life has been hard and demanding, and his gently
defiant son who, as a pre teen, is refusing to learn how to farm turkeys. The mother understands that
their son, Moti, has no passion for the family livelihood but Yitzhak takes the decision badly. And thus
ends the hopes of all good dreams; the father s desire to pass on his father s business is doomed by his
son s utter disinterest. Here is a kid who has no love of turkeys, no desire to learn the trade and no
appreciation of the art of poultry manufacture. More painful is the perceived lack of respect that the
father senses in Moti s lack of interest. This is the farm that his father built with sweat labor and was

How does Baba Joon play against this reality? Delshad sees the similarity of his movie with the
current crisis. The Palestinian Israel conflict is also a culture of difference and the culture is so
different. I have Iranian friends and some Palestinian friends and when I see the way things are, I have
a difficult time seeing the way they response to events. We must understand the culture before it can
be possible to be break down the conflicts. Also, education has to update the students and education

Creatine Monohydrate Essay
Creatine Monohydrate
Creatine monohydrate is a body building supplement. Many athletes and trainers use it to enhance
athletic performance. College athletics are an advocate for creatine when it comes to exercising and
strength conditioning, But what is creatine? Creatine is a naturally occurring metabolite found in red
muscle tissue. It is a powerful ergogenic aid that plays an important role in energizing muscle.
Creatine increases the body s ability to do work. It is high powered and generates the muscles ultimate
energy source ATP (adenosine triphosphate) ATP produces the contractions of a muscle s proteins.
When muscles are performing work ATP is being broken down into ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and
energy is given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Journal of Applied Physiology published a study to determine the importance of a loading phase
of creatine. In the study four separate groups were used and each group was given a different amount
of creatine. The study lasted 28 days and the muscle creatine levels were tested. The four doses went
like this: Group I 20 grams for six days and nothing; Group 2 20 grams for six days then 2 grams per
day; Group 3 3 grams per day for 28 days; Group 4 was given a placebo. After 28 days, muscle
biopsies were taken and groups 2 and 3 proved that loading was not necessary to achieve results from
creatine. Groups 2 and 3 showed the same amounts of creatine increases. The exercise that was used
was not presented in Joe Wieder s article.
There have also been other studies conducted on creatine. One of the better ones was by a group of
students out in Texas. The effects of creatine on muscle power and strength indices of ten subjects, all
male, were tested. The amounts of creatine were not given but more than likely each subject was given
the same amount. The training that was used consisted of 3 consecutive 30 second Wingate bike tests
with 5 minutes rest in between, and a bench press workout. For each individual a one rep max for the
bench press was taken then sets were performed at 70% of the one rep max. Eight subjects completed

The New England s New World
Essay 1
In order to practice religious freedoms, Puritans fled from England to the New World. The New World
represented potential and freedoms that were unattainable in England. The New England settlers
overcame adversities and created challenges that would go on to change the course of history. When
they first arrived, their inexperience was shown through the death of nearly half their colony in the
first year. The introduction of the Wampanoag tribe to the New England colony was such a crucial
component to their survival and a primary reason they were able to sustain and even increase their
population. The New England colony proved to be successful in establishing a necessary relationship
with the Wampanoag, thriving through their protestant work ethic, and ultimately creating a stable
settlement; however, they failed when it came to maintaining that stable relationship with the
Wampanoag, their lack of experience in the New World, and the hypocritical tendencies of their
actions.
When the Pilgrims first arrived, they were not hesitant about claiming land and getting right to work.
Their protestant work ethic ensured that they worked hard because there was a high moral obligation
to fulfill ones duty in worldly affairs. Worldly success is a sign of God s favor, so when they landed
upon an abandoned Indian village they took it as a sign from God that they were on the right path and
were being rewarded. They established communities of family farmers, which proved to be

The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy
This passage is adapted from Wayson Choy s The Jade Peony and portrays the fear of a young boy
who has recently lost his mother. The reader is able to infer the situation from the passage despite it
not being clearly mentioned. The reader infers that the passage is about a juvenile boy who sits beside
his dying mother and is then taken care of by family friends, predominantly the Chins. The reader is
able to assume that the mother of the child has died, by the mention of how my [his] mommy s voice...
would never say again. This along with the hullabaloo and a sense of emergency projected in the first
paragraph indicate that the mother is no more. The rigid arms suggest that the mother s arms are dead.
The cacophony of the word rigid creates a sense of chaos for the readers. The passage is written in
first person narrative, providing the reader with meaningful insights from the boy who has lost his
mother. The author makes use of varying sentence styles. Simple sentences are used to merely narrate
the event Mr. Chin was shouting instructions. Mrs. Chin called my name. These simple sentences help
maintain a slow pace of the text, and create a dull tone to commemorate the death. Some sentences
like the ones in Lines 3 5 are fragmented, revealing the incident one step at a time. Choy makes use of
various symbols and techniques to provide reassurance to the young boy. Anaphora is successfully
used in Lines 7 ( Don t be afraid... don t be afraid... ) to reassure the boy

Gender And Gender Roles In The Media
Media plays a huge role in creating social norms. There are several forms of media: Press, radio,
films, internet and television that are all contributing factors in creating gender roles. Television is
probably the most developing medium, with the internet on its heels. Television, with its sitcoms,
advertisements and children s shows, have a huge influence on manipulating people s attitudes and
opinions on how we view the world. People tend to believe what they continuously see, and with time
people think it s the normal way of life and the way it s supposed to be. It is essential to ensure that
what the media shows and the message it sends, is appropriate.
In media, especially television, there is a way that each gender is represented, based on the
stereotypical nature that society has classified as male and female. Men on television are strong, tough
and powerful, both academically and physically as expected by society and represented on Television.
Men are predicted to come out victorious and conquer everything in its path. Females, on the other
hand are supposed to be submissive, caring and emotional as well as supportive to those around them
and their male counterparts. Females generally make life more comfortable in their television roles.
Gender roles are generally neither positive nor negative; they are simply inaccurate generalizations of
the male and female attributes. Since each person has individual desires, thoughts and feelings
regardless of their gender,

Does The Ontological Argument Successfully Show That God...

Does the Ontological Argument successfully show that God exists?
God a being of which nothing greater can be conceived. (Blackburn, S, 1999. Think. New York United
States of America, Oxford University Press Inc. 5:154)
The ontological argument put forward by St Anselm, is based on this definition. The argument,
Anselm s premises, the concept of god being understood, god existing in the understanding and god
necessarily existing in reality, plus conclusion that god in fact exists, can be easily digested and
understood but are also very confusing. In this essay I will argue that the ontological argument does
not successfully prove that god exists as the argument not only contradicts itself but fails to put
forward any solid proof for god s existence. The essay topic above raises two main areas of attention
in need of address. These two areas being; the ontological argument and what it is, and secondly,
whether or not this argument is successful in arriving at the conclusion of god s existence. To do the
latter, I must first state the argument and what it is.
The Ontological Argument states, following the definition of God above, that the concept of God or, a
god, is understood (even by the fool as stated by Anselm) (Blackburn, 1999:154). Therefore as the
concept of God is understood God therefore exists in the understanding (taken as the

High School Discourse Analysis
The Discourse community that I selected to present is my high school AP English three course.
Although a substantial amount of knowledge was obtained in this class, the growing problem of a lack
of dedication was harming it.
According to the author, James Paul Gee, in Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics: Introduction , my
AP English three class is a secondary dominant Discourse as it possessess the (potential) acquisition
of social goods (money, prestige, status, etc.) This course is designed to help students earn college
credits through preparation for a challenging exam. In order to fulfill this purpose, assignments are
vigorously administered to enhance the three genres writing, reading, and speech. Students begin to
retain what they have learned and apply this in the classroom, developing an English dialect within the
division of labor between the student and teacher that contains intense words and ceases to have slang.

Ranging from writing sixteen page essays to interpreting twelve pages of texts constantly, students
expend their energy without any real break to recover. This results in the degradation of grades and
learning capabilities as individuals become increasingly stressed to continue on. Teachers acquire a
difficulty to perform their jobs because students stop desiring to understand. This can be extremely
harmful when AP exams take place towards the end of the year since students are often too exhausted
by this point to perform well on the test. If students are tremendously tired, the shared objective of a
Discourse community as expressed by John Swales in Characteristics of a Discourse Community , will
inevitably fail. Many people engage in the class for college credit and because of their fatigue, all the

Dallas City Cemetery Anthropology
A great many books have been written about cemeteries in Dallas, Texas. More specifically, many of
these books are based on the pioneer cemeteries of Dallas s founding families. Many of Dallas s older
cemeteries are not in use today for anything more than tours or an occasional local history lesson in a
quiet park, and some of these cemeteries have been absorbed by large funeral companies while others
are protected by private organizations. Dallas s rich history contains a variety of cemeteries that tell us
how burial practices in Dallas have reflected Dallas s societal changes.
Public burial sites were intended to serve the whole community and are closely integrated into
community history. The sites carry multiple social and political ... Show more content on

A wooden marker was generally used with no identification of the deceased. Little thought was given
to marking the grave site because the gravedigger seldom expected to be able to protect and maintain
the site. In the 1840s, as people began to settle into the Dallas area, burial practices changed. These
early pioneers buried their loved ones in unorganized, isolated places usually on the family s land.
Occasionally, the spot on the family farm might even be shared by a neighboring family. Family burial
sites can be found all around Dallas in random places, such as the Letot, Daniel or Caruth family
cemeteries. However, these sites are actually considered plots rather than cemeteries as they were not
designed for perpetual care. The notion of protecting the dead was not a concern at the time and
certainly not in the manner as it is

Cyberbullying And Youth Suicide Ideation And Attempts Essay
Methodology
The purpose of my study would be to see the correlation between cyberbullying and youth suicide
ideation and attempts. This study aimed to examine adolescents experiences with cyberbullying
because, victims of cyberbullying often report feeling frustrated, angry, and depressed (Patchin
Hinduja, 2010). Cyberbullying can have a negative impact on a youth s life and by conducting this
study we can gain a better understanding of how cyberbullying manifests itself in adolescence s
behavior, including suicidal thoughts and attempts. I would use a mixed methods approach to examine
various aspects of cyberbullying, including students involvement in cyberbullying, reporting
behaviors, and suicidal ideation or attempts. To gain more detailed information on the effects of
cyberbullying on youths suicidal ideation and attempts, I would utilize both quantitative and
qualitative data. Since cyberbullying itself is a complex issue combining both quantitative and
qualitative data can help to enhance the theory of the research.
Sampling
Participates will be students from five middle schools within the five boroughs of New York. I will
collect data from 80 students, ages 11 to 14 (40 females, 40 males). Students will be chosen by school
staff at the middle schools who expressed interested in participating in cyberbullying studies. Once
participates are chosen I (the researcher) will make the visit to the schools to conduct the study. In the

Homo neanderthalensis is the closest extinct relative of Homo sapien. They were named for the

Lime miners stumbled across the remains in a cave belonging to a bear; the fossils were then given to
a local teacher and amateur naturalist, Prof. Dr. Johann Carl Fuhlrott. (Tattersall) He identified them as

The New Structural Social Work As A Social Innovation
Social work contemplates establishing social justice through social transformation, and social
transformation, in many cases, leads to an innovation, especially social innovation. The purpose of
this paper is to explore whether The New Structural Social Work (Mullaly, B., 2007) can be
considered an innovation. The origin of social work is traced back to the end of the nineteenth century,
when the Charity Organization Society movement began in 1877 in the United States of America, and
the Settlement House movement started in 1884 in England. In both the cases, rapid industrialization,
urbanization (Mullaly, B., 2007), and mass immigration contributed to escalating people s plight due
to oppressions resulting unemployment, destitution, hardship, begging, and crimes. Social system was
dominated by power, and resource distribution was unidirectional. A group of people from the higher
strata of the society (Mullay, B. 2007) came forward to address people s plight based on individual
cases. The primary focus of the then social work, later known as conventional social work, was
individuals (Mullay, B. 2007) instead of social system. The intertwined relationships between
individuals and the social system were totally ignored or unapprehended (Mullay, B. 2007). The
conventional social work, thus, can be characterized (Carniol, B. 1992) as follows: 01. The
conventional social work is mainly based on advocacy and support focusing upon individuals
requirement. Social workers

In an effort to extend Andreasen s (1968) typology to computer mediated environments, we assert that
information sources can be sorted into one of four groups: (1) Personal source providing personalized

personalized information (e.g., A renowned expert says that this product is the best. ); (3) Impersonal

personal sources providing personalized or non personalized information. Furthermore, studies
dealing with reference groups encompass such sources as well as impersonal sources that provide non

The Sovereignty And Goodness Of God
As time passes, the expectations that society has on women has changed. Many of these expectations
had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in society. In Rowlandson s time, her
expectations were to be a housewife, a mother, and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The
sovereignty and Goodness of God demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and
how that role changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her
place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her omission of the soldier
s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes about the horrendous death some soldiers
receive, she does not mention much about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be
inferred as she begins her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the
soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for the attack to come to

Original Technical Writing Guide And Why I Redesigned
The purpose of this memo is to give you a better understanding on what revisions were made to the
original technical writing guide and why I redesigned it in the way that I did.
Summary
This document as whole, was missing a lot of crucial information that I felt needed to be included in a
technical writing guide. As a whole, I believe that my redesign of the document will prove to be more
useful and more navigable than the original that was presented. In the discussion, I will be analyzing
each part of the guide that I felt needed to be revised.
Discussion
One of the first things that will stick out from the guide is the color scheme chosen for both the text
and background, blue and green text on a beige background respectively. Since this is supposed to be
an academic resource for engineering students, I felt it was most appropriate to have a white
background with black text, thus helping to bolster the professionalism of the document. When I first
opened the document, I felt as if it was very distracting and possibly may have been written for those
in high school, but upon further inspection, I discovered that this was written for students at the
University of Cape Town in South Africa. Unless this is a cultural difference of some kind, I feel as if
the author merely wanted to attract readers to use the guide. Even after fixing the color scheme, it was
still very hard to navigate the document.
In order to fix the issue of navigability, I changed each of the primary

Abraham Lincoln Biography
Abraham Lincoln has always been my favorite historical figure and I do have to admit there are some
things that I don t know about him (no, he did not hunt vampires). His life has always been interesting
to me for long time. Abe Lincoln s story as a child, a lawyer, and the President of a nation that was
tearing itself has always been (in my opinion) the greatest in American history. Abe Lincoln was born
on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky to Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. He has an older sister named
Sarah and a younger brother named Thomas who unfortunately died in infancy. In 1818, he was once
kicked in the head by a horse. Before he was, he said Git up, you old hussy; git up, you old hussy.

them did. The final vote for the Amendment was 8 absent/not voting, 56 votes against, 119 votes (with
a margin of 2 votes) and the 13th Amendment passed. However, after the Amendment was passed, the
peace talks were declined and the war was still

The Portrayal Of Illusion Vs. Reality

The Portrayal of Illusion VS. Reality in A Streetcar Named Desire Have you ever submerged yourself
into a word of illusion to escape from the cold hearted reality of the world? This theme of escaping
from reality and into illusions is explored throughout the play, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee
Williams. What exactly is the difference between illusion and reality? An illusion is a deceptive idea
or belief whereas reality is the actual state in which the world actually exists. In A Streetcar Named
Desire, the characters seem to divulge into their own fantasy when encountered with a harsh reality.
This concept is explored through each character s desire in indulging in illusions versus their reality.
The concept of illusion versus reality is most predominantly displayed in the main character of the
novel, Blanche DuBois. The initial battle between illusion and reality began in the beginning of the
novel when Blanche moves from Belle Reve to New Orleans to live with her sister, Stella Kowalski,
and her sister s husband, Stanley Kowalski. Before moving to New Orleans Blanche was described as
being devastated by the loss of her estate and the death of her husband, Allan, and to escape dealing
with this reality, she slept around with a lot of men. To escape dealing with this shady past, she moves
to Stella s house and begins an illusion and lies about her past. Blanche s initial illusions were
concocted by love. When

Velociraptor Research Paper
Velociraptor was a mid sized dromaeosaurid, with adults measuring up to 2.07 m (6.8 ft) long, 0.5 m
(1.6 ft) high at the hip, and weighing up to 15 kg (33 lb).[3] The skull, which grew up to 25 cm (10 in)
long, was uniquely up curved, concave on the upper surface and convex on the lower. The jaws were
lined with 26 28 widely spaced teeth on each side, each more strongly serrated on the back edge than
the front.[1][4] Velociraptor, like other dromaeosaurids, had a large manus ( hand ) with three strongly
curved claws, which were similar in construction and flexibility to the wing bones of modern birds.
The second digit was the longest of the three digits present, while the first was shortest. The structure
of the carpal (wrist) bones prevented pronation of the wrist and forced the hands to be held with the
palmar surface facing inwards (medially), not downwards.[5] The first digit of the foot, as in other
theropods, was a small dewclaw. However, whereas most theropods had feet with three digits
contacting the ground, dromaeosaurids like Velociraptor walked on only their third and fourth digits.
The second digit, for which Velociraptor is most famous, was highly modified and held retracted off
the ground. It bore a relatively large, sickle shaped claw, typical of dromaeosaurid and troodontid
dinosaurs. This enlarged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Key Characteristics Of Muhammad And Islam In The Islamic...
Islam came to influence during the 7th century there were key characteristics that led to the Islamic
Empire becoming one of the greatest civilisations of the era. During this initial period of Islam there
were crucial elements that influenced the direction of the Islamic world. These were the emergence of
caliphates and the rise of ruling dynasties, the rapid expansion of Islamic territories through trade and
conquest, and finally the development of cultural, intellectual and scientific collaboration and
exchange.
The prophet Muhammad and Islam, brought about an age of unification for the people of the Arabian
Peninsula. The initial response to Muhammad and his teachings were slow, but saw religion replacing
kinship as the basis of a collective identity, however, he was a charismatic peacemaker who preached
the divine revelations of the one true God Allah, these would later become part of the Qur an.
Muhammad became a leader in Medina, and his followers became known as the Ummah (a single
community of believers which transcends place). The Muslim people saw Muhammad not as a divine
figure but as the perfect man , he had so completely given himself to his divine revelations that he
influenced Muslim society so fully that it enabled his people to live in harmony (Armstrong 2002,
p.24).
The death of Muhammad in 632CE saw the emergence of caliphs (supreme religious and political
rulers), the first four had all been close to the prophet and had learned directly from his

Biblical Interpretation
Interpretation presents many challenges that can be difficult to overcome. There seems to be more
challenges that arise when interpreting the Bible. Interpreters face many challenges and the validity of
their methods are sometimes questioned. Although there are challenges to effective biblical
interpretation such as distance of time and geographical location, difference in culture and language,
and human pre understanding and presupposition, these challenges can be overcomed. The challenge
of distance of both time and geographical location is a major issue when one is interpreting the Bible.
The larger of these two is time. The Bible was written centuries ago when everything was different;
even the land and cities looked different when compared to modern day. It is impossible to travel back
in time and see what is depicted in the Bible or to talked to the author to clarify confusion about
particular texts. Research from Archaeological digs and manuscripts will provide a glimpse into the
world of the Bible that seems to be lost, but it will still only be a glimpse ... Show more content on

There is not always an exact translation from language to language nor is the grammatical structure

and deep knowledge to crack. It makes it especially difficult that that languages over the years develop
and change and since the text of the Bible is ancient it makes the task of interpreting that much harder.
There are also words that will not translate over so the translator has to find a substitute for the word
that will lack the depth and meaning of the original. Despite the challenges that the difference in
language creates it is still possible to translate the Bible and worth the effort. Those who are not

Homer Hickam In The Movie October Sky
October Sky is a movie that teaches us a lesson in perseverance, pursuing our goals, and turning our
dreams into reality. Homer Hickam, the main character, was such a person. When he was confronted
with obstacles that caused failure, Homer continued to try. In this essay I would like to explore the
relationship with his teacher, Ms. Riley, why Homer was chosen to go to the science fair instead of his
friends, and Homer s relationship with his father.
Homer had someone who believed in him before the Rocket Boys even started shooting off successful
rockets. Her name was Frieda Riley. Ms. Riley was Homer s 1th grade teacher. Since the time when
Homer brought the rocket into school, she provided Homer with encouragement. She also convinced
Homer and the Rocket Boys to join the science fair. On Homer s 18th birthday, she gave him a book
on rocketry. Homer said it was the best present anyone had ever given him. Because of a mining
accident, Homer was forced to quit school and work in the coal mine. Ms. Riley didn t want to speak

Homer became the leader because he was interested in rocketry the most. After they won the school

Problem Facing the World Today There are thirty four countries in the world that are both advanced
agriculturally and predominantly Muslim. These thirty four Islamic nations account for about 21% of
the world s land surface and about 15% of its cropped area. While the agricultural sector has been a
pivotal part of Islamic life for hundreds of years, the practice is becoming more and more difficult. In
regards to agriculture today, Lynn White states that formerly man had been part of nature; now he was
the exploiter of nature (White 3). Due to a lack of environmental awareness, farmland is prone to
erosion, usable water is becoming more and more scarce, and the long term agricultural potential in
Islamic nations is decreasing (Tutwiler). Muslims are actually well known for placing a high priority
on the environment and conservation. In fact, the Islamic holy book, the Qu ran, states that Humans,
as God s successors on earth, should treat the natural environment with the respect and dignity God
intended it to have (Kaltner). So how then, if Muslims value the environment so much, is
environmental degradation continuing to occur in Islamic nations? While some may say that it is

Consequentialism, By John Stuart Mill Essay
Consequentialism is a broad ethical theory that describes one s actions to be good or bad depending
solely upon the consequences of those actions. The distinguishing element of this theory from others
is that the action itself has no value without analyzing the expected consequences, as explained by
William H. Shaw in Consequentialism , ...when it comes to rightness or wrongness, nothing matters
but the results of our actions (Shaw 28). Then the question is, what exactly does it mean for a
consequence to be deemed good ? Utilitarianism, a more specific form of consequentialism, answers
this by describing a good action to be one that brings about the most happiness or well being for
everyone. John Stuart Mill states, The creed which accepts as the foundation of morals utility or the
greatest happiness principle holds that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote
happiness: wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness (Mill 7). This theory seems simple
when applied to everyday situations. However, it can become tricky when applied to more complex,
multi faceted, situations. Obviously there are differentiating levels of happiness. For example, in a
situation where it seems there may be no such thing as a happy outcome, the anticipated consequence
that is deemed to be the lesser of two evils would be perceived to bring about the most well being
compared to the other choice. This theory may also seem difficult because it is based on

Three Reasons For The Allies s Success In The Invasion
D Day was a major event in history and there are lots of reasons why the Allies had success in the
invasion. In this essay I will focus on three reasons I believe to be the most significant to victory.
Those reasons are Air Supremacy, Unique and adapted tanks and Operation Fortitude South. D Day
tanks were specialised to fit the environment of Normandy while still being effective in combat. Air
Supremacy was crucial to distract the Germans with the gliders, paratroopers, bombers, and fake
dummies. Operation Fortitude South was a massive and successful deception plan to confuse the
German into thinking the invasion would come at the narrowest part of the channel.
Air Supremacy was crucial for supporting the invasion and confusing the germans. It was something

Essay on Breastfeed No Matter Where You Are
Breastfeeding is such a natural process. It is one of the best gifts a mother can give her child.
Breastfeeding is such a great gift that is just keeps on giving all throughout a child s life. Breast milk

child to grow big and strong, and even makes them smarter. Despite all of these positive aspects of
breastfeeding, when people see a mother in public breastfeeding her child, they become a little

It is unsanitary and should never be a location to eat. Breastfeeding has been around for centuries and
is legal, so why stop it now? Breastfeeding in public is a civil right and should be treated like one.
There is a law in forty five states that protects mothers and allows them to breastfeed in any location
they are allowed to be in (Breastfeeding Laws). However, these laws do not protect them from
discrimination from the public. Women are being denied entry into places because of being indecent
while breastfeeding in public. There have been reports of women holding nurse ins to promote their
laws for breastfeeding in public (Grooms). Mothers who are breastfeeding that are being harassed by
companies of a public place and are told to cover up or relocate are allowed to sue according to other
laws (Solomon). Any mother does not want to have to sue anyone for the right to bond with her child
while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding allows for mothers and their babies to bond. Whether a mother and
her child are bonding in the privacy of their own home, or in public, it should be allowed no matter
where they go. Breastfeeding brings happiness to both the mother and her child. Why should a mother
have to lose the opportunity of bonding with her child in a public place just because someone gets
offended? Breastfeeding is a natural part of the human body and a natural process in assisting a child

William Shakespeare s The Duchess Of Malfi
John Webster s play The Duchess of Malfi is a Renaissance tragedy. Threats lurk the widowed
Duchess and her forbidden husband Antonio. The Duchess s power greedy brothers, Ferdinand and
The Cardinal forbid her sister to remarry. The play is an unconventional Renaissance tragedy as the
protagonist focuses on a female character rather than a male. (Pacheco, 2012, p69) This essay focuses
on Webster s use of distinctive features of language.
This passage is important because it displays the violent and tragic scene of the Duchess s execution
and torture. The scene occurs after the Duchess encounters a theatrical spectacle delivered by her
brother Ferdinand, as his way of punishing and torturing her (Pacheco, 2012, p169) The dramatic
function this serves is that it reveals a violent and painful death to the audience, made all the more
shocking and tragic with her welcoming death and believing, to meet such excellent company/In th
other world. (Webster, 2004, p159) Webster employs dramatic irony at this point as she thinks Antonio
is dead and the audience know this is an act of torture and so this illustrates the tragedy of the
situation.
The extract starts with the Duchess calming Cariola after it is revealed that the Duchess will be killed
and she says, Peace, it affrights not me. (Webster, 2004, p155) Her response is shocking as death does
not affright (Webster, 2012, p155) her and she is attempting to put Cariola s mind at peace (Webster,

Sociological View Of Religion
Praying is an important aspect of all religions as well as Christianity. To observe this specific religious
phenomenon, I went to the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer. I attended to see one of their prayers. What
they were practicing was not an individual action. They were praying with other Christians not by
themselves. Also they were praying out loud. The Priest was saying the prayer and the others were
either repeating after him or saying Amen when he finished his prayer. After praying, most of the
Christians light up candles at specific part of the church. A famous sociologist Emile Durkheim
discusses about religion in the perspective of sociology in his book, The Elementary Forms of
Religious Life. He mentions in his book that society creates the religion to live with moral rules. Since
I observe the atmosphere of that holy place, I came up with several questions. What are the forces to
make them go to the Church and pray together? And how do they use the symbols to become a
motivated person?
In sociological perspective, Durkheim believes that in order to understand the community, one need to
understand the religion. In the church, people were praying all together. ... Show more content on

They share the bread, and that also reminds me they are a big family. When I asked them why they eat
and drink in a prayer place, they answered that they eat and drink because they think they are gifts
from Jesus. Religions, which have held so considerable a place in history, and to which, in all times,
men have to receive the energy which they must have to live, should be made up of a tissue of
illusions (Durkheim, 45). Eating bread and drinking wine are the symbols to receive the energy to
understand the importance of being community every members of this family. It can be explained with
this theory that eating or drinking here is not as the real meaning. They are objects to give energy,
power and motivation to the

Symbolism In Go Tell It On The Mountain
In Go Tell It on the Mountain, James Baldwin works with themes of gender, violence, and change. He
does this through Florence, Gabriel, and the symbol of morning. The author is trying to say people s
decision can be determined by external factors. Florence is treated differently because she is girl.
Education is not offered to her, but to her brother who hates to learn. And he needed the education that
Florence desired far more than he, and that she might have got if he had not been born. She should
take all the responsibilities and do all the works at home as a woman. And she [mother] wanted
Florence, also, to be content helping with the washing, and fixing meals and keeping Gabriel quiet...
Florence was a girl, and all the duties of a woman; and this being so, her life in the cabin was the best
possible preparation for her future life. Her mother has different attitudes toward her and her brother.
Gabriel was the apple of his mother s eye. If he had never been born, Florence might have looked
forward to a day when she would be released from her unrewarding round of labor, when she might
think of her own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In John s birthday morning, he begins to realize what he wants and who he will be. Not until the
morning of his fourteenth birthday did he really begin to think about it, and by then it was already too
late. For Florence, the morning is a new starting point of her life because she plans to leave her home
and pursue freedom. And this became Florence s deep ambition: to walk out one morning through the
cabin door, never to return. The morning is a turning point of Elizabeth s life because she is going to
lose her love and hope. And on Monday morning he was not at work. She left during the lunch hour to
go to hid room. He was not there. His landlady said that he had not been there all weekend. The

AICPAAnd Its Misconceptions
One of the most misunderstood job positions in the United States is accounting. Accounting is often
described as a dull job that requires a mastery in crunching numbers. Despite accountings
misconceptions, it is often considered one of the most satisfying jobs. One particular accounting title,
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is one of the most popular qualifications accountants seek out. To
organize and represent CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) was formed. Today, AICPA is
informing the public about accounting and uses the slogan Start Here, Go Places. AICPA emphasizes
the vast career options accountants have. In every government and economic sector accountants are

  • 2. Libertarian Theory Of Justice In Health Care Arguing whether health care should be basic human rights comes down to the question of what is just. Distributive justice justice regarding the fair distribution of society s advantages and disadvantages and more will help the debate. There are different views to this question, including libertarian theories of justice, utilitarian theories of justice, and egalitarian theories of justice. There are also Kantian view and human rights view. Libertarian theories of justice states that the benefits and burdens of society should be distributed through the fair workings of a free market. In this view, the role of the government is to protect the rights of individuals to freely pursue their own interests in the economic marketplace without violations of their liberty through coercion, manipulation, or fraud. Government may use coercion, but only to preserve liberty. Beyond these protections, the government has no obligation to adjust the distribution of benefits and burdens among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With utilitarian theories of justice, what is just would depend on the situation and thus impact what kind of health care is provided to people. This means that depending on the calculations of what would yield the most beneficial result, the government may implement a universal health care insurance, or a qualified right to health care, or a two tier plan, etc. Egalitarian theories of justice, similar to Kantian ethics, state that important benefits and burdens of society should be distributed equally. Egalitarian view would distribute benefits equally, not judged by the workings of a free market, nor is the utility of the society be the most important factor. Human rights approach state that broader entitlements, such as fair treatment for all, freedom from coercion, nondiscrimination, etc, can insure the just distributions of health ... Students Knowledge Of Adaptive Sports On Campus Statement of theme (Sean) In the beginning phases of our video project, we struggled to find a theme specific enough to embody all of the ideas we had as a group. We were very set on a certain direction, but that direction included a lot of different subsections that would make our task even more complicated. Accessibility on college campuses and beyond is a very important topic and one that aligned with our passion. But the likelihood for us to travel to another campus to conduct interviews collect data was very low. This centered our focus on the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. In our own community there are many improvements necessary. The University of Illinois is home to some of the finest athletes with disabilities, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being a student athlete is even more demanding. The distance that people with disabilities have to go to practice, train, go to class utilize DRES is ridiculous. In athletics, athletes should be compensated for the hard work that they put in. Even as a walk on athlete for a DIA recognized team, there are my added benefits. When the quality of life for wheelchair athletes increases, we will be able to recruit better athletes and place the University of Illinois ahead every other program in the nation. After conducting interviews we have learned that this will be a hard and difficult process, but with willing and passionate individuals, it is possible. Relevance to RST professions with social context that justifies its relevance (Vince) Our topic of bringing notice to adaptive sports programs at the U of I is very much relevant to RST professions. Adaptive sports and those who participate on our campus are extremely passionate about what they do, and it is the same for those participating around the nation. Our campus and the following we have built here at the U of I only makes up a small percentage of what can be found elsewhere. • 4. Baba Joon Essay Baba Joon is the newly released movie by writer/director Yuval Delshad. With a film career that grew from the documentary world, this is his first feature. Never one to shy from reality, Delshad turned to a subject that spoke to his heart; the father/son relationship. To create authenticity, the movie is filmed in the dusty village where Delshad grew up and the actors speak a blend of Hebrew and Farsi, just like it was in the 1980 s of his childhood. Delshad loves the fact that life imitates art, My baby, Yitamar, was conceived during the start of photography and he is already trying to crawl! Baba Joon centers on the conflict of a traditional father, Yitzhak, whose life has been hard and demanding, and his gently defiant son who, as a pre teen, is refusing to learn how to farm turkeys. The mother understands that their son, Moti, has no passion for the family livelihood but Yitzhak takes the decision badly. And thus ends the hopes of all good dreams; the father s desire to pass on his father s business is doomed by his son s utter disinterest. Here is a kid who has no love of turkeys, no desire to learn the trade and no appreciation of the art of poultry manufacture. More painful is the perceived lack of respect that the father senses in Moti s lack of interest. This is the farm that his father built with sweat labor and was the essential ... The four doses went like this: Group I 20 grams for six days and nothing; Group 2 20 grams for six days then 2 grams per day; Group 3 3 grams per day for 28 days; Group 4 was given a placebo. After 28 days, muscle biopsies were taken and groups 2 and 3 proved that loading was not necessary to achieve results from creatine. Groups 2 and 3 showed the same amounts of creatine increases. The exercise that was used was not presented in Joe Wieder s article. There have also been other studies conducted on creatine. One of the better ones was by a group of students out in Texas. The effects of creatine on muscle power and strength indices of ten subjects, all male, were tested. The amounts of creatine were not given but more than likely each subject was given the same amount. The training that was used consisted of 3 consecutive 30 second Wingate bike tests with 5 minutes rest in between, and a bench press workout. For each individual a one rep max for the bench press was taken then sets were performed at 70% of the one rep max. Eight subjects completed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The New England s New World Essay 1 In order to practice religious freedoms, Puritans fled from England to the New World. The New World represented potential and freedoms that were unattainable in England. The New England settlers overcame adversities and created challenges that would go on to change the course of history. When they first arrived, their inexperience was shown through the death of nearly half their colony in the first year. The introduction of the Wampanoag tribe to the New England colony was such a crucial component to their survival and a primary reason they were able to sustain and even increase their population. The New England colony proved to be successful in establishing a necessary relationship with the Wampanoag, thriving through their protestant work ethic, and ultimately creating a stable settlement; however, they failed when it came to maintaining that stable relationship with the Wampanoag, their lack of experience in the New World, and the hypocritical tendencies of their actions. When the Pilgrims first arrived, they were not hesitant about claiming land and getting right to work. Their protestant work ethic ensured that they worked hard because there was a high moral obligation to fulfill ones duty in worldly affairs. Worldly success is a sign of God s favor, so when they landed upon an abandoned Indian village they took it as a sign from God that they were on the right path and were being rewarded. They established communities of family farmers, which proved to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy This passage is adapted from Wayson Choy s The Jade Peony and portrays the fear of a young boy who has recently lost his mother. The reader is able to infer the situation from the passage despite it not being clearly mentioned. The reader infers that the passage is about a juvenile boy who sits beside his dying mother and is then taken care of by family friends, predominantly the Chins. The reader is able to assume that the mother of the child has died, by the mention of how my [his] mommy s voice... would never say again. This along with the hullabaloo and a sense of emergency projected in the first paragraph indicate that the mother is no more. The rigid arms suggest that the mother s arms are dead. The cacophony of the word rigid creates a sense of chaos for the readers. The passage is written in first person narrative, providing the reader with meaningful insights from the boy who has lost his mother. The author makes use of varying sentence styles. Simple sentences are used to merely narrate the event Mr. Chin was shouting instructions. Mrs. Chin called my name. These simple sentences help maintain a slow pace of the text, and create a dull tone to commemorate the death. Some sentences like the ones in Lines 3 5 are fragmented, revealing the incident one step at a time. Choy makes use of various symbols and techniques to provide reassurance to the young boy. Anaphora is successfully used in Lines 7 ( Don t be afraid... don t be afraid... ) to reassure the boy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Gender And Gender Roles In The Media Media plays a huge role in creating social norms. There are several forms of media: Press, radio, films, internet and television that are all contributing factors in creating gender roles. Television is probably the most developing medium, with the internet on its heels. Television, with its sitcoms, advertisements and children s shows, have a huge influence on manipulating people s attitudes and opinions on how we view the world. People tend to believe what they continuously see, and with time people think it s the normal way of life and the way it s supposed to be. It is essential to ensure that what the media shows and the message it sends, is appropriate. In media, especially television, there is a way that each gender is represented, based on the stereotypical nature that society has classified as male and female. Men on television are strong, tough and powerful, both academically and physically as expected by society and represented on Television. Men are predicted to come out victorious and conquer everything in its path. Females, on the other hand are supposed to be submissive, caring and emotional as well as supportive to those around them and their male counterparts. Females generally make life more comfortable in their television roles. Gender roles are generally neither positive nor negative; they are simply inaccurate generalizations of the male and female attributes. Student Name Samukumba Seyuba Student Number SYBSAM001 Course code PHI1024F Course Lecturer Dean Chapman Tutor Kajal Carr Does the Ontological Argument successfully show that God exists? God a being of which nothing greater can be conceived. (Blackburn, S, 1999. Think. New York United States of America, Oxford University Press Inc. 5:154) The ontological argument put forward by St Anselm, is based on this definition. The argument, Anselm s premises, the concept of god being understood, god existing in the understanding and god necessarily existing in reality, plus conclusion that god in fact exists, can be easily digested and understood but are also very confusing. In this essay I will argue that the ontological argument does not successfully prove that god exists as the argument not only contradicts itself but fails to put forward any solid proof for god s existence. The essay topic above raises two main areas of attention in need of address. These two areas being; the ontological argument and what it is, and secondly, whether or not this argument is successful in arriving at the conclusion of god s existence. To do the latter, I must first state the argument and what it is. The Ontological Argument states, following the definition of God above, that the concept of God or, a god, is understood (even by the fool as stated by Anselm) (Blackburn, 1999:154). Therefore as the concept of God is understood God therefore exists in the understanding (taken as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to fulfill this purpose, assignments are vigorously administered to enhance the three genres writing, reading, and speech. This can be extremely harmful when AP exams take place towards the end of the year since students are often too exhausted by this point to perform well on the test. This study aimed to examine adolescents experiences with cyberbullying because, victims of cyberbullying often report feeling frustrated, angry, and depressed (Patchin Hinduja, 2010). Cyberbullying can have a negative impact on a youth s life and by conducting this study we can gain a better understanding of how cyberbullying manifests itself in adolescence s behavior, including suicidal thoughts and attempts. The New Structural Social Work As A Social Innovation Social work contemplates establishing social justice through social transformation, and social transformation, in many cases, leads to an innovation, especially social innovation. The purpose of this paper is to explore whether The New Structural Social Work (Mullaly, B., 2007) can be considered an innovation. The origin of social work is traced back to the end of the nineteenth century, when the Charity Organization Society movement began in 1877 in the United States of America, and the Settlement House movement started in 1884 in England. In both the cases, rapid industrialization, urbanization (Mullaly, B., 2007), and mass immigration contributed to escalating people s plight due to oppressions resulting unemployment, destitution, hardship, begging, and crimes. Social system was dominated by power, and resource distribution was unidirectional. A group of people from the higher strata of the society (Mullay, B. 2007) came forward to address people s plight based on individual cases. The primary focus of the then social work, later known as conventional social work, was individuals (Mullay, B. 2007) instead of social system. The intertwined relationships between individuals and the social system were totally ignored or unapprehended (Mullay, B. 2007). The conventional social work, thus, can be characterized (Carniol, B. 1992) as follows: 01. The conventional social work is mainly based on advocacy and support focusing upon individuals requirement. Many of these expectations had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in society. In Rowlandson s time, her expectations were to be a housewife, a mother, and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The sovereignty and Goodness of God demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and how that role changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her omission of the soldier s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes about the horrendous death some soldiers receive, she does not mention much about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be inferred as she begins her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for the attack to come to an end. She as well as the other women within the household were to take care of the children and the home. As a whole, I believe that my redesign of the document will prove to be more useful and more navigable than the original that was presented. In the discussion, I will be analyzing each part of the guide that I felt needed to be revised. Discussion One of the first things that will stick out from the guide is the color scheme chosen for both the text and background, blue and green text on a beige background respectively. Since this is supposed to be an academic resource for engineering students, I felt it was most appropriate to have a white background with black text, thus helping to bolster the professionalism of the document. When I first opened the document, I felt as if it was very distracting and possibly may have been written for those in high school, but upon further inspection, I discovered that this was written for students at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Unless this is a cultural difference of some kind, I feel as if the author merely wanted to attract readers to use the guide. Reality in A Streetcar Named Desire Have you ever submerged yourself into a word of illusion to escape from the cold hearted reality of the world? This theme of escaping from reality and into illusions is explored throughout the play, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. What exactly is the difference between illusion and reality? An illusion is a deceptive idea or belief whereas reality is the actual state in which the world actually exists. In A Streetcar Named Desire, the characters seem to divulge into their own fantasy when encountered with a harsh reality. This concept is explored through each character s desire in indulging in illusions versus their reality. The concept of illusion versus reality is most predominantly displayed in the main character of the novel, Blanche DuBois. The initial battle between illusion and reality began in the beginning of the novel when Blanche moves from Belle Reve to New Orleans to live with her sister, Stella Kowalski, and her sister s husband, Stanley Kowalski. Before moving to New Orleans Blanche was described as being devastated by the loss of her estate and the death of her husband, Allan, and to escape dealing with this reality, she slept around with a lot of men. The jaws were lined with 26 28 widely spaced teeth on each side, each more strongly serrated on the back edge than the front.[1][4] Velociraptor, like other dromaeosaurids, had a large manus ( hand ) with three strongly curved claws, which were similar in construction and flexibility to the wing bones of modern birds. The second digit was the longest of the three digits present, while the first was shortest. The structure of the carpal (wrist) bones prevented pronation of the wrist and forced the hands to be held with the palmar surface facing inwards (medially), not downwards.[5] The first digit of the foot, as in other theropods, was a small dewclaw. However, whereas most theropods had feet with three digits contacting the ground, dromaeosaurids like Velociraptor walked on only their third and fourth digits. • 28. Key Characteristics Of Muhammad And Islam In The Islamic... Islam came to influence during the 7th century there were key characteristics that led to the Islamic Empire becoming one of the greatest civilisations of the era. During this initial period of Islam there were crucial elements that influenced the direction of the Islamic world. These were the emergence of caliphates and the rise of ruling dynasties, the rapid expansion of Islamic territories through trade and conquest, and finally the development of cultural, intellectual and scientific collaboration and exchange. The prophet Muhammad and Islam, brought about an age of unification for the people of the Arabian Peninsula. The initial response to Muhammad and his teachings were slow, but saw religion replacing kinship as the basis of a collective identity, however, he was a charismatic peacemaker who preached the divine revelations of the one true God Allah, these would later become part of the Qur an. Muhammad became a leader in Medina, and his followers became known as the Ummah (a single community of believers which transcends place). The Muslim people saw Muhammad not as a divine figure but as the perfect man , he had so completely given himself to his divine revelations that he influenced Muslim society so fully that it enabled his people to live in harmony (Armstrong 2002, p.24). The death of Muhammad in 632CE saw the emergence of caliphs (supreme religious and political rulers), the first four had all been close to the prophet and had learned directly from his ... Interpreters face many challenges and the validity of their methods are sometimes questioned. Although there are challenges to effective biblical interpretation such as distance of time and geographical location, difference in culture and language, and human pre understanding and presupposition, these challenges can be overcomed. The challenge of distance of both time and geographical location is a major issue when one is interpreting the Bible. The larger of these two is time. The Bible was written centuries ago when everything was different; even the land and cities looked different when compared to modern day. It is impossible to travel back in time and see what is depicted in the Bible or to talked to the author to clarify confusion about particular texts. Since the time when Homer brought the rocket into school, she provided Homer with encouragement. She also convinced Homer and the Rocket Boys to join the science fair. In regards to agriculture today, Lynn White states that formerly man had been part of nature; now he was the exploiter of nature (White 3). Due to a lack of environmental awareness, farmland is prone to erosion, usable water is becoming more and more scarce, and the long term agricultural potential in Islamic nations is decreasing (Tutwiler). • 32. Consequentialism, By John Stuart Mill Essay Consequentialism is a broad ethical theory that describes one s actions to be good or bad depending solely upon the consequences of those actions. The distinguishing element of this theory from others is that the action itself has no value without analyzing the expected consequences, as explained by William H. Shaw in Consequentialism , ...when it comes to rightness or wrongness, nothing matters but the results of our actions (Shaw 28). Then the question is, what exactly does it mean for a consequence to be deemed good ? Utilitarianism, a more specific form of consequentialism, answers this by describing a good action to be one that brings about the most happiness or well being for everyone. John Stuart Mill states, The creed which accepts as the foundation of morals utility or the greatest happiness principle holds that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness: wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness (Mill 7). This theory seems simple when applied to everyday situations. However, it can become tricky when applied to more complex, multi faceted, situations. Obviously there are differentiating levels of happiness. For example, in a situation where it seems there may be no such thing as a happy outcome, the anticipated consequence that is deemed to be the lesser of two evils would be perceived to bring about the most well being compared to the other choice. This theory may also seem difficult because it is based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, these laws do not protect them from discrimination from the public. Women are being denied entry into places because of being indecent while breastfeeding in public. • 38. William Shakespeare s The Duchess Of Malfi John Webster s play The Duchess of Malfi is a Renaissance tragedy. Threats lurk the widowed Duchess and her forbidden husband Antonio. The Duchess s power greedy brothers, Ferdinand and The Cardinal forbid her sister to remarry. The play is an unconventional Renaissance tragedy as the protagonist focuses on a female character rather than a male. (Pacheco, 2012, p69) This essay focuses on Webster s use of distinctive features of language. This passage is important because it displays the violent and tragic scene of the Duchess s execution and torture. The scene occurs after the Duchess encounters a theatrical spectacle delivered by her brother Ferdinand, as his way of punishing and torturing her (Pacheco, 2012, p169) The dramatic function this serves is that it reveals a violent and painful death to the audience, made all the more shocking and tragic with her welcoming death and believing, to meet such excellent company/In th other world. (Webster, 2004, p159) Webster employs dramatic irony at this point as she thinks Antonio is dead and the audience know this is an act of torture and so this illustrates the tragedy of the situation. The extract starts with the Duchess calming Cariola after it is revealed that the Duchess will be killed and she says, Peace, it affrights not me. (Webster, 2004, p155) Her response is shocking as death does not affright (Webster, 2012, p155) her and she is attempting to put Cariola s mind at peace (Webster, 2004, p155) rather than ... To observe this specific religious phenomenon, I went to the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer. I attended to see one of their prayers. What they were practicing was not an individual action. They were praying with other Christians not by themselves. Also they were praying out loud. The Priest was saying the prayer and the others were either repeating after him or saying Amen when he finished his prayer. After praying, most of the Christians light up candles at specific part of the church. A famous sociologist Emile Durkheim discusses about religion in the perspective of sociology in his book, The Elementary Forms of Religious Life. He mentions in his book that society creates the religion to live with moral rules. Since I observe the atmosphere of that holy place, I came up with several questions.
