The Older Generation And Life Experiences In My Life
You can learn so much from the older generations. Their life experiences can teach you a lot and give
you some insight on this thing we call life. Generations interacting with each other can be very
beneficial to society today. Older generations can explain to the youth that everything in life won t go
the way you plan for it to, but that s okay. They can let them know to take the hand that life deals them
and make the best out of it. People from older generations can prove to you that no matter how many
curve balls life throw at you; you can still become successful. I was able to interview someone from
the baby boomer s generation and apply their life experiences to my lifespan course.
I have known Jeanetta Wrice all of my life, and I have gotten to know her in all aspects of her life. She
is able to juggle being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend all while having a career and I loved
that about her. Growing up wasn t smooth for her, she had many bumps she had to overcome to
achieve her success. During the interview I was able to ask her questions about how she became
successful all while starting a family at a young age. Another question I had was about her
environment. Being that she lived in a rough neighborhood how did she stay on the right path and not
give in to peer pressure to drop out and etcetera. Throughout my middle school years, she started
going back to school so I was able to see how she divided her time between her family, job, and
school. As a girl who didn t grow up in the best environment either but still wanting to one day have a
career, a family, and become a business owne,r I wanted to see how she overcame her odds.
I first wanted to hear about Mrs. Wrice s childhood and what encouraged her to stay on the right path.
She explained that since she was one of the younger siblings she watched and followed what some of
her older siblings did. Mrs. Wrice did most of her development according to Bandura s social learning
theory according to our textbooks definition. She would watch her sister study and work a job
determined to graduate high school and continue on to college. Another example she had was an older
brother that was a little rebellious and skipped school and stayed on

Shawshank Redemption Behaviorism
The book Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption shows the stretch of behaviorism. It explored
how being separated from something for a long time can affect the instincts of the individual. In the
story, when prisoners get out they are confused, feel unsafe, and think about commiting a crime just to
get back into prison. This story shows how being rewarded and being punished makes the individual
and makes an identity. Behaviorism is the idea that your behavior is determined by punishment or
reward. In Shawshank this is an important theme as it shows how the prisoners change and adapt in
prison. Prisoners get so used to prison life, that when they leave it is impossible for them to fit in. For
example, Brooks was in prison for about 50 years and when he got paroled he began crying as he was
leaving the prison. Brooks was the librarian in prison and held an important role compared to other
prisoners. He didn t last very long and died within six months outside of prison; Brooks helped raise a
crow and as soon Brooks left, the crow died. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He talks about how fast things move, how cars have changed, how automobiles move fast compared
to the ones he has seen in the past before he was in prison. I had no idea of how fast things moved on
the outside; the raw speed people move at. They even talk faster. And louder (King 83). Red talks
about how women dress differently and show a lot of skin. Red talks about how he has a habit of
going to the restroom twenty five after the hour and asking his boss. Despite the fact that he no longer
needs to ask for permission it s something he is used to. Red talks about how he thinks of committing
a crime just to go to prison where he feels safe. The fact that he doesn t feel safe outside is saying
something that long term prison sentences affects the individual to a point where prison is all they

Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis
Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct
characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The always
changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time period (Foner,
xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically different
viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface is divided
into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the different
interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the Progressive
School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the wave of new politics and social attitudes, the Revisionists crippled all standing interpretations,
leading to a drastically different account of the Reconstruction. Depicting the Reconstruction as a time
for incredible social and political growth for African Americans, Revisionists strayed from the original
negative connotations of Reconstruction. Within the new revised Reconstruction, Johnson was no
longer the courageous protector of the civil liberties of his people, but rather a racist who failed to
react to the predicaments at hand while in Presidency and Radicals were no longer money hungry
capitalists of the North, but rather individuals dedicated to advocacy for African Americans (Foner,
xiii). Although using the Civil Rights Movement as the backbone for the Revisionist era proved itself
effective, there were still a group of individuals, Post Revisionists, who continued to view the changes
during Reconstruction as a bland and inadequate time in American

Importance Of Gladiators
Historically, gladiator battles were a very complicated issue. This is because most people think that the
gladiator battles were completely fair. However they weren t. This topic is misguided because no one
thinks about how the gladiators were chosen, the equipment they used, and finally how the audience
influenced whether they died or not.
Gladiator battles were unfair because the gladiators didn t have a choice. When gladiator battles
started, the people that were the gladiators were either slaves or prisoners of a war. And because they
were slaves or prisoners, they didn t have a choice if they wanted to be a gladiator or not. While you
might think that killing prisoners of war wasn t a big deal, it is because killing prisoners of ... Show

According to Hope Babowice, the author of dailyherald.com, Around five thousand gladiators died
each year during the Roman empire which lasted till the 5th century. If you do the math, that is two
million five hundred thousand people that died in gladiator battles. The last thing that was unfair about
the equipment is that when an emperor fought against a gladiator, he would weaken him. He did this
by either taking away almost all of his armor, or he would give the gladiator a wooden sword while
the emperor was able to use a steel sword. This shows me that the equipment that the gladiators used
was unfair.
Finally, the last thing that was unfair was how the audience influenced if the gladiators lived or died.
The reason why I say this is because sometimes the audience could choose if the gladiators would die.
The way they would do this is by giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. What a thumbs up means is
that it was a excellent fight, and they spare the losing gladiator s life. But that usually wasn t the case.
They most likely would give a thumbs down, and that meant that the winning gladiator would strike
his opponent with a sword. They did this because the audience found it entertaining. Also, according
to history.com they said that the audience was unfair to the gladiators, because they yell things like
burn him, or flog him, which also influenced whether the gladiators would die or not. Even if the
gladiators fought a great

Ten Care Tips
Ten Care Tips for Your T Shirt Creations
You invested your time, your sweat, and your tears into creating the perfect t shirt creation. It doesn t
matter if it s a tie dye creation or a silkscreened masterpiece, you want it to last. Sadly, t shirts are
susceptible to fading, shrinking, cracking, graphic loss, etc. When you wear your shirts, the sun, the
sweat, and other elements speed the deterioration of your tee. Further, the way you wash, dry and store
your shirt plays a huge part in the life of your prized possession.
Thankfully, there are some things you can do to preserve your tee and lengthen its lifespan. Consider
these ten care tips:
1. The safest way to wash your shirt is by hand in cold water. This isn t always a practical ... Show

T shirts that are not worn often should not be hung on a hanger. They should be folded and stored in a
box or container. Plastic sleeves are another way to keep your shirts looking their best. At very least,
they should be folded and kept on your shelf or in a dresser drawer.
9. Make a T shirt Folder. An ally in the fight to protect your shirts is the proper fold. You don t want to
run creases through your artwork. A shirt folder is a great way to quickly fold your shirts in a proper
manner. A folder can be purchased or made for a matter of cents from common household materials
(six pieces of 9x12 cardboard and a roll of duct tape). While cereal boxes are a little thin, they are the
right size.
Place the rectangles three wide by two deep about a quarter inch apart. Connect the panels with the
duct tape on the front and the back. The quarter inch of duct tape between the panels will act like
hinges, so make sure they are pressed together well. The folder is now complete.
Lay your shirt face down on the folder vertically with the neck to the top. Fold the right two panels to
the center. Leave the shirt, but pull the panels back. Repeat this move on the left. Fold the panel in the
center bottom up toward the top. You now have a perfectly folded

Bilingual Education Policy in Australia Concerning...
From the time the British first settled the continent to the present, the Aboriginal people of Australia
and the English speaking Australian government have had a rocky relationship. For many years,
aboriginal Australians experienced much discrimination and racism. Like Native Americans in the
United States, the Aborigines were displaced from their tribal lands and forced into designated
settlements. This was all part of an attempt on the part of the government and the European settlers to
eradicate Aboriginal culture. Though overtly racist policies have now been done away with and formal
apologies given, much of Aboriginal culture has been lost. Efforts to revive it are now underway, and
at the forefront of these are efforts to revitalize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ensuring that Aboriginal children are able to become fully proficient in Standard Australian English is
important, since it greatly expands the number of opportunities available to them in higher education,
employment, and access to services (McKay, 300). Aboriginal parents are eager for these children to
gain access to these opportunities through mastery of Standard Australian English, but do not wish
their own languages to be lost in the process (McKay, 305). Aboriginal Australians, even those who do
not themselves speak an Aboriginal language, show great pride in their language as part of their
cultural identity (McKay, 299). As such, it is necessary for schools to display recognition of each
language s intrinsic cultural value and linguistic complexity and uniqueness (Gale, 282). Concrete
evidence of the value of these languages to Aboriginal people is shown by the fact that knowledge of
an Aboriginal language decreases the likelihood of excessive alcohol consumption and illicit drug use
in 15 to 24 year old Aborigines (McKay, 300). In the past, well implemented bilingual education
programs have resulted in a stronger relationship between schools and their surrounding communities,
as well as an increase in the interest of Aboriginal people in becoming teachers (McKay, 312).
Teachers who have been involved in bilingual education programs know the positive effects they have

The Legacy Of The Jim Crow Era
Phil Robertson the patriarch of Duck Dynasty has little to no knowledge about the events that happen
in the Jim Crow era. To see how wrong he is lets take a look at the Jim Crow era. First Jim Crow was
the name of the racial class method which operated mainly, but not purely in the south, between
eighteen seventy seven and the nineteen sixty. Jim Crow was more than a series of severe anti black
laws. It was a way of life to african americans. Under Jim Crow, African Americans were relegated to
the status of second class citizens. Jim Crow represented the legitimization of anti black racism. Many
Christian ministers and theologians taught that caucasian were the Chosen people, african americans

Black people where not treated as equal and this continued because the Jim Crow etiquette operated in
conjunction with Jim Crow laws . People like Phil Robertson did not see that the Jim Crow laws
where mainly there to excluded african americans from public transport and amenities, juries, jobs and
school districts . When they passed the 13, 14, and 15th Amendments, the Constitution had granted
african americans the same legal protections as caucasian. However, after eighteen seventy seven, and
the election of Republican Rutherford B. Hayes, southern and border states began restricting the
liberties of african americans. Unfortunately for african americans, the Supreme Court helped
undermine the Constitutional protections of african americans with the infamous Plessy v Ferguson
case, which legitimized Jim Crow laws and the Jim Crow way of life.

Hildegard s Gender Is Of Course Not An Accident
Hildegard s gender is of course not an accident. Throughout history, we have claimed Hildegard as the
first Christian thinkers to deal seriously and positively with feminine issues, as well as the challenges
posed by and for women in a patriarchal society. She formulated her thoughts within the traditional
framework of christian symbols, through the great reflection on the great feminine representations and
essence of Eve, Mary, and Mother church. In our current struggles of spirituality and gender,
Hildegard can be a guide. Her visionary forms fade into one another, but within all of them and behind
them all, shines neither women nor man, but the living light. By using Hildegard of Bingen as a
central figure in 12th century religious practice, we can then use Chritianity as an example to compare
and contrast women s experiences in religious practice in the 12th century and the 21st century.
Hildegard was destined from an early age to live a life of enclosure in her cell. Rather than choosing
to enter their daughter formally as a child in a covenant where she would be brought up to become a
nun, Hildegard s parents locked her in a cell of anchoress. A daughter of a local count, Jutta,
undertook to instruct Hildegard in the recitation of the psalter and in other womanly occupations, such
as sewing, cooking, and cleaning. It was essential in the 12th century that women were taught to
perform these gendered duties so they could provide for their husbands and

generally larger than those in the northern hemisphere. One whale captured in the southern
hemisphere measured 110 feet (33 meters) in length. Females are usually larger than males of the
same age. Fins: A small triangular shaped dorsal fin is located on the blue whale s back. This fin
measures only one foot in height. The shape and size of the dorsal fin can be very different for each

Psychotherapy Theories Practices Final Paper
I believe that psychotherapy is a reciprocal process of engagement, learning and changing that
happens in both the client and the therapist, Therefore, when the client comes from a radically
different cultural background from our own, as clinicians we must familiarize ourselves and adjust to
the nature and conditions of that culture. For a while, the most prominent focal point of
psychoanalytic studies, literature and practices in the United States has been the issues concerning the
development of the sense of self and personal identity and the importance of the child s early
attachment to the mother and the emergence of the self as an independent identity (Corsini, 2011, p.
26). Through my experience as a client, student and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how acculturated clients are, when using Western psychotherapy with non Western clients,
it is important to consider the possibility that their worldviews contain structures that differ from those
of Westerners. One of the most prominent figures and contributors of the study of development and of
object relations was Hungarian born psychoanalyst Margaret Mahler (1968) who trained in Vienna
and immigrated to New York City. Through the use of an empirical model of observation, Mahler
studied the overt (but pre verbal) behavioral interactions between mother child dyads in order to
formulate the theory of separation individuation, which is the topic I have chosen to focus on for this
paper. Although I acknowledge the values, potential usefulness, and ways in which Mahler s theory of
separation individuation can be universally applicable, I would argue that it can become a critical issue
(having the impact of harm than of help) in psychotherapy with clients from collectivistic and
Confucian societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
I recognize the wide scope of clinical implications that Mahler s separation individuation theory
offers, not only in clarifying mother child interactions and object relations, but also in terms of its intra
psychic and inter personal dimensions. Symbiosis is a biological term borrowed and used
metaphorically by Mahler et al. (1975) when referring to the infant s intra psychic

Business Success For A Business
Business Success in the New Normal
For a business to succeed in today s global economy, it takes more than opening doors, turning on

Terrorism And The World s Leading Issues
Terrorism is an unofficial and unauthorized use of extreme violence, force and intimidation in the
pursuit of political and religious gain. Throughout the 20th century, terrorism is among the world s
leading issues. The reason for its existence can be found from the roots of imperialism and its
injustice. Today its momentum and actions have many violent, devastating and deadly effects
throughout the world. The terrorists that drive this fear are perverse Islamic fundamentalists. Muslim
fundamentalists believe that the Qur an should be interpreted literally and context, namely the time
period and the social climate, cannot determine the texts interpretation and application. Extremists in
this group advocate extreme violence in order to fulfil certain elements of the Qur an. These extremist
groups are numerous, however some are more notable than others. Al Qaeda, the terrorist group that
had its formation in Sudan, before relocating to Afghanistan used the Qur an to justify the 9/11 attack
on the Twin Towers. Similarly, the Taliban, the terrorist group who have control over Afghanistan
have imposed harsh and crude versions of Sharia Law and twisted the Qur an to suit their endeavours.
Furthermore Isis, a Sunni group that aims to create an Islamic state in Iraq and Syria, have also
extracted Quranic verses to suit their ideals and justify their premature taking of life. Overall, the
misinterpretation of the Qur an and the Hadith has led to the justification of terrorism,

Background A twenty one year old female, basketball player experienced an ankle sprain by
accidentally stepping on another player s foot. The player was going up to make a shot landed on the
opponents foot when she came back down, which made her ankle invert. The head athletic trainer
evaluated her then taped her ankle to provide support and keep the swelling to a minimum at that time,
so the player could return to play. Immediately after the game, the player s ankle was iced down to
control the swelling and was receiving NSAID s to help with the pain or discomfort she was feeling.
The player was referred to the team physician for x rays and MRI to help rule out fractures. Treatment
was started to help relieving the swelling and pain.

Ackland Study Gallery: Interior View of San Paolo Fuori Le Mura The Interior View of San Paolo
Fuori Le Mura, completed by Giovanni Battista Piranesi in 1749, conveys a sense of grandiosity about
the structure, emphasizes the core religious components of the basilica s style, and creates a perception
of the sacred temple s function as socially valuable. The etching depicts the inside space of the
Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, located in Rome, at an elevated point of view from the
narthex of the structure facing the apse located at the end of the nave. After the execution of Paul the
Apostle in the first century CE, his followers constructed a small shrine over his grave. This shrine
was shortly replaced by a church in the fourth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The detail effectively illustrates and emphasizes the storytelling components of the decoration, the
sculpture, and the ornateness of the interior space, something not possible for a less detail oriented
medium. The detail of the architecture shows the superiority of the building compared to other
structures in Rome, and the value placed on honoring Saint Paul. The storytelling artwork and
portraiture which leads to the grand portrait of Jesus Christ is also a component of the interior space
which the medium allowed to shine through, further informing the viewer on the purpose of the
structure. The detail in the artwork expresses its importance in the church s service to a society of
extremely low literacy rates to teach religious stories and values. The selection of etching as a medium
is essential to conveying these aspects of the architecture s role and how the viewer perceives the

Participatory Culture Paper
It s no secret that people are engaging more and more with the Internet and social media everyday. A
simple Google search can lead you to various discussion forums, Tumblr blogs, and a plethora of hash
tagged Tweets. The Internet is an interactive medium, and as users of that medium, we have access to
innumerable amounts of data and information previous generations could only dream of. With the rise
of an interactive, communicative platform, people and companies can send and receive messages

and producing media texts of their own (Toffler, 1989). The Internet provides a space where this
participatory culture can thrive. Discussion based forums and boards are especially active places
where fans can interact. According to Jenkins, message boards and forums become knowledge
communities that structure and organize the fans knowledge about a particular text (Booth, 2010, pp.
37 38). From these interactive online hubs, fans can work together to create distinct meanings unique
to their fan culture and themselves, according to media scholar Paul Booth: Dialogue through forums
and listservs create meaning for the members of the community separated from the meaning contained
(or read) within the extant media object (Booth, 2010, pp. 37 38). Discussion boards and forums aren t
the only places where this type of interaction occurs; blogs are another place where fans can engage in
this participatory culture. Blogs, and more importantly, their ability to comment and provide feedback
are integral to the interactivity and productivity of online fandom. According to Booth, Comments
become a way for the blog to elicit feedback and participation by members of a community. This
ability to provide instantaneous feedback fulfills the desire of instant gratification and fosters the
ability to communicate more effectively as a collective

Macbeth Imagery Blood
Blood Imagery in Macbeth
Shakespeare s plays are well known for the richness of their imagery. This is particularly true in
Macbeth and the many allusions to blood. The use of blood imagery gives the reader some foresight
into what is going on in the play and how the characters are thinking and feeling. Blood is used to
represent heroics on the battlefield, evil and murderous inclinations, and ultimately guilt and shame.
Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to give the readers insight into his characters as they change
and are impacted by their choices and actions. This paper will demonstrate how Shakespeare uses the
image of blood as a symbol of bravery, guilt and evil citing directly from the text of Macbeth. Act one

Macbeth goes from being a heroic general in the king s army to an assassin and a tyrant. Through the
looking glass Macbeth seems as bloody as he could be, yet at the core he feels unruly guilt Like a
child, Macbeth attempts to run away from his problems, yet he has no where to go. He now realizes
what he has done is against his own morals, knee deep in guilt, and attempts to figure out his problems
with his wife. Blood symbolizes honor and bravery and also guilt and evil.
In the beginning of the play blood is represented of honor and bravery and symbolizes good and
victory The play starts out with the 3 witches talking about Macbeth. Macbeth is now a great hero
because he led the Scottish army to victory. For the recognition of Macbeth s leadership he becomes
Thane of Cawdor. The witches make many predictions to Macbeth and they all come true. Shakespear
stated For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name Disdaining fortune, with his brandished
steel,Which smoked with bloody execution (I,2,16 18). This showed that the Captain truly respects
Macbeth and that he is a heroic soldier. Towards the middle of the play blood represented guilt. At this
point of the play. A bell trings and Lady Macbeth signals that the chamberlains are asleep so Macbeth
strides toward Duncan s chamber. Macbeth was pressured into killing King Duncan by his wife,Lady
Macbeth, and does not feel good about it. Shakespear said Will all great Neptune s

However, this plan associated with several problems which brought down the profit and reputation of
the Safelite and can be analyse through the behavioral evaluation methods and the comparative

internal completion, or in the other words, inability to differentiate between self and other.
Customer satisfaction is a key to any business, because happy customers can lead to more sales and

customers were unhappy because they should reschedule their time for the same job. In other cases,

Notorious Jumping Frog
1. The educational aspect portrayed in this text The Notorious Jumping Frog , was made very clear.
Mark Twain brilliantly allowed the readers to see a difference between Easterners and Westerners
through educated and uneducated diction. The narrator s tone and choice of words used at the
beginning of the text, revealed to me that he has academia background. The narrator stated, I called on
good natured, garrulous old Simon Wheeler... (Twain 121). When using the word garrulous, when in
terms simply means chatty, right away this led me to think the narrator s vocabulary was extensive.
The narrator also carried a certain persona about himself, a persona of patience and self control, being
that he sat and listened to the very chatty Simon Wheeler s without interrupting. ... Show more content

Unlike the narrator, Simon Wheeler s dialect and description of Jim Smiley was not so much formal.
He used westernized slang words such as feller and thish er when telling the story of Jimmy Smiley to
the narrator (Twain 123). Although not specifically stated, Smiley seemed to have come from a
background where survival by any means possible was the motto for life. Any means possible,
meaning doing bizarre things that to another would seem classless. Mark Twain depicted Smiley as a
man simply trying to make best out of life. It was perceived that formal education was not prevalent in
his surroundings and street hustling was the way of life, perhaps passed on from previous generations.
Overall, Twain was able to show the readers a distinct difference between Easternized and

The Reasons Why Orcas Should Not Be Held Captivity
Janeth Jackson Ms. Nero English 1113 5 October 2015 How would you feel if you lived your life in
fear daily? What about being taken from your family, just so you can become entertainment for
someone else? It is hard for one to envision such barbaric acts. This is not something orcas, also
known as killer whales, envision but rather a daily fear that one day can possibly come true. Orcas
have been kept in captivity since 1961. There have been numerous amounts of orcas captured from the
wild since than. These innocent and helpless orcas have been snatched from their families, and forced
to live with other orcas who are not part of their family. By looking at the documentary, Blackfish, one
can see the many reasons why orcas should not be held in captivity. One major reason why orcas
should not be held in captivity is because orcas are a family oriented type species. Orcas are extremely
social animals. Orcas are very close to their family. For example, when SeaWorld orca catchers came
to capture orcas in the year 1977, John Crowe, one of the orca catcher s, said, When we took the baby
orcas and left the adults, the adults huddled in a circle and made noises to the baby orcas that were
being taken away. He also stated, We dropped the net to let the other adult orcas go, but they stayed
and huddled around the boat. When killer whales are in captivity, they are not with their family. They
are involuntary forced to live with other orcas from a different family and are

stubbornly, my mind is made up. Not another step will I budge on this errand. What if a wretched old
woman do choose to go to the devil, when I thought she was going to Heaven! Is that any reason why
I should quit my dear Faith, and go after her? Faith! shouted Goodman Brown, in a voice of agony and
desperation; and the echoes of the forest mocked him, crying Faith! Faith! as if bewildered wretches
were seeking her, all through the wilderness. And when Goodman thinks that he has lost his Faith to
the devil, he despairs: My Faith is gone! cried he, after one stupefied moment. There is no good on
earth; and sin is but a name. Come, devil! for to thee is this world given. And maddened with despair,
so that he laughed loud and long, did Goodman Brown grasp his staff and set forth again, at such a

Theories Of Dreams
There are various theories as to why we dream, one of them is activation synthesis hypothesis,
proposed by Alan Hobson and Robert McCarley in 1977. The idea is that the specific neuron activity
that takes place during REM sleep is synthesized into a plot in the cerebral cortex, and dreams are the
brain trying to make sense of the random neural activity that takes place during REM sleep. The oldest
theory is of Freud s psychoanalytic view, dreams are visual representations of suppressed thoughts or
unacceptable desires, ideas, aspirations, or memories. The psychoanalytic view tells us each dream is
crammed with symbolism and says a lot about the unconscious mind when you interpret them. The
interpretations of the dreams are subjective, making

Issues of Race in The Prince of Egypt
The film The Prince of Egypt tells the tale of Moses. This essay will focus on how the movie handled
the issue of race. In terms of the essay, race can be defined as, the conflict between the Egyptians and
Hebrews. In particular this essay will focus on the depiction of slavery, Moses killing an Egyptian, and
the relationship between Moses and Ramses. The conflict between the Egyptians and Hebrews was
well demonstrated throughout the movie. Although comparing it to Exodus, the conflict was portrayed
less brutal. The animosity between the Hebrews and Egyptians is played down. The relationship
between Ramses and Moses shows compassion towards Egyptians and Hebrews. The issue of race is
evident in the prince of Egypt but is played down. This can be seen through less brutality inflicted on
the slaves, when Moses kills an Egyptian, and the relationship between Ramses and Moses. When the
Prince of Egypt would show the scenes of slavery, they were seen as less brutal. For example during
the opening scene the Hebrews are shown building Egypt. While this is going on the viewer is able to
see how the Hebrew were treated by the Egyptians. The singing puts the scene in a less intense mode.
The only dialogue is song which is sung for promise of going to the promise land. Instead of focusing
in on the brutality of slavery, the scene gives hope to the slaves. So the Egyptians made the Israelites
their slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them, hoping to wear them down with

THE ROLE OF IN FILM ADVERTISING IN PROMOTING THE SALES OF A BRAND
ABSTRACT
Introduction:
Cinema gives a powerful environment in which to advertise. The film being shown virtually identifies
the target audience and makes it very easy to schedule and buy advertising spots to match brand
message to potential consumers. Better still, the audience is completely captive and in a receptive
frame of mind as they wait to be entertained. A well organized media plan based closely around the
films being shown can be a highly effective way of communicating brand messages to a willing

International Students Can Overcome Challenges
International students face many different challenges when studying abroad. This is due to many
factors. First, they are living in a country very far away from their own. The country they are studying
at has a very different way of life than theirs. Further more, the laws in that country are much different
than the laws in their own country. Due to that they face a lot of problems trying to adapt to this new
culture. Me personally as an international student in the US studying at ASU, have faced three
particularly difficult challenges that I was able to overcome through time. In this essay I will explain
how international students can overcome tough challenges and situations. The first challenge, and in
my opinion the most crucial challenge that I had to face was learning the English language, and
communicating with different people. Almost every international student is faced with this challenge;
Alberto Fernández Fernández said, International students often face adjustment issues impacting their
level of satisfaction with their experience. These involve oral language proficiency, as well as feelings
of anxiety and isolation resulting from language deficiencies . This challenge was important for me to
overcome due to the fact that I am here for the sole purpose to study in an American University, so
obviously I am required to learn the language. Likewise, I have to learn how to speak so that I can be
able to communicate with other students and professors. I personally

Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don t see

When and why we in stereotype?
In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went through a series of

and the motive behind it is the need for structure. They also mention the fact that people who feel part
of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification
threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through an

The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they
aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social
structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. But why this need for

The Problem Of A Dichotomy Of Civil And Ethnic Nationalism
Not only economic, but also political realities of global process of democratization of the 1990s of the

problem of the analysis of a ratio of civil and ethnic nationalism not so much in general theoretical,
but in a regional direction.
The problem of a dichotomy of civil nationalism (as inherent mainly in countries of Western Europe
and North America) and ethnic nationalism (widespread, according to the standard version, in the

In the second half of the 1990s, the problem of conceptualization of national identity is characterized

socialist transit. The considerable group of the researchers specializing in the field of the political
analysis of nationalism in post socialist New Europe remained on former positions and referred to the
features of national identity of the countries of this region to ethnic type. It is possible to determine
such prominent experts in nationalism problems in countries of Eastern Europe as Rogers Brubaker
and George Schopflin.
Brubaker puts forward the provision on prevalence in type of national identity of transit democracies
of Eastern Europe and Eurasia of ethno cultural aspect and lack of necessary conditions for an
interiorization of patterns of civil national identity. R. Brubaker comes to a conclusion that in these
countries, the creation of statehood was preceded by the nationalist movements, and the state was
created in interests of concrete ethno political group. In this regard, the researcher believes, in the new
democratic countries of Eurasia chances of distribution of patterns of civil identity are very small. In
new democracies, there was an institutionalization of the ethno cultural concept of national identity
which is distanced from the idea of civic consciousness and is focused on transfer of social
responsibility to structures of the power.

Solzhenitsyn based the book on the World War 2 period, particularly the famous labour camps for
prisoners in Germany and East Prussia known as gulags . Life in the gulags were tough due to the
gulags being open aired and given the sub zero temperatures, survival was difficult. Solzhenitsyn, in

temperatures, the disgusting food rationed to the prisoners and survival. Only people who are able to
cope with the conditions and manage the system can hope to survive. I chose the novel One day in the

To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored
traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today.
This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the
military today.
The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There
are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute.
The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services. There
seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this gesture of
trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and Medieval Times.
During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in order to see a public
official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free of a weapon. In
Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. The British Navy s earlier salutes involved
removing the headgear. When they started adding chinstraps to their headgear, it proved too difficult
to remove the headgear in each instance so they began just touching the hat with their right hand. This
gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today. Some may think that
hand salute is a sign of inferiority because juniors have to always salute seniors first but it is not.
Juniors salute first as a military courtesy towards seniors and it is always required to be returned. A
few other instances where the hand salute is rendered is during the National Anthem or foreign
national anthem, To the Color , Hail to the Chief , rendering reports, and raising and lowering of the

Production History of Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot
Production History of Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot
Samuel Beckett was forty two years old and living in post war Paris when he wrote Waiting for Godot
as an exercise to help rid himself of the writer s block which was hindering his work in fiction. Once
he started, he became increasingly absorbed in the play, and scribbled it almost without hesitation into
a soft cover notebook in a creative burst that lasted from October 9, 1948, until he completed the
typed manuscript on January 29, 1949. After some revision, he offered the script to several producers,
but it was refused. Although Beckett himself gave up hope with the script, his wife was more
persistent, and, acting as his agent, she continued to approach ... Show more content on

People went to see the play just to be able to see that scandalous impertinence with their own eyes and
to be in a position to say at the next party that they had actually been the victims of that outrage.
(quoted in Bair 64)
For whatever the reasons and against all expectations, the play surprised Beckett by becoming one of
the greatest successes in post war theatre, running for four hundred performances at the Théâtre de
Babylone before moving to another theatre.
In 1955 Beckett translated the play into English. The play premiered August 3, 1955, at the Arts
Theatre Club, transferring September 12 to the Criterion Theatre for a fairly lengthy run. It met with a
wide measure of incomprehension, and won the Evening Standard Drama Award for the most
controversial play of the year. Indeed, states Esslin, the verdict of most critics was that it was
completely obscure, a farrago of pointless chit chat (Esslin, Preface).
Waiting for Godot opened the next year in America at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami.
Disastrously advertised as the laugh sensation of two continents, it closed almost as soon as it
opened.... The play fared somewhat better in New York, where it ran at the John Golden Theatre for
fifty nine performances.
The most remarkable performance of all, however, was to occur on

Road Not Taken Obstacles
Adventure and The Road Not Taken have similar stories with characters that go through the same
obstacles. In Robert s poem and Sherwood s short story, they both have characters that come to a fork
in the road. Thus, the characters have to make a difficult decision that will change their future and life.
In The Road Not Taken , the traveler must choose from two roads to continue. The traveler does not
know what to do, and the traveler stands there pondering his decision. The traveler has a big decision
to make, and the traveler chooses the road less traveled by. Moreover, this decision was life changing
for the traveler. For example, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference
(McMichael 1132). The traveler s decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ned loved Alice, but he ended up moving to Cleveland for a brighter and better future. Robert and
Sherwood wrote stories with characters that had to face obstacles, and those obstacles were making
decisions that would change their lives. Another similarity between these stories is The Road Not
Taken is represented in Adventure . For example, the traveler (Ned) has to choose from two roads.
This is like the poem The Road Not Taken because the two roads Ned has to choose from are to stay in
the country (Winesburg) or take a chance in the city. A lot of people in Winesburg choose to stay in the
small town they grew up in like Alice and her family. Ned decides as the traveler to take the road less
traveled by which is the city life. Moreover, Ned is like the traveler in Robert s poem because Ned s
decision changed his life too. For example, Then he was caught up by the life of the city; he began to
make friends and found new interests in life (McMichael 1266). Ned s decision changed his life
because the city has more people Ned can interact with and more passions to

Ap Victor Bono Analysis
U2 frontman Bono thinks a lot of young Christian artists are trapped and are not really using their
music to reflect the real events in their lives, so he wants them to be truly honest when it comes to
their art.
In an interview with Fuller Studio, Bono talked about how faith interacts with Christian art. The U2
frontman, who spent several years reading poetry in the biblical book of Psalms, came to the
realization that honesty is a must when creating art, The Huffington Post relays.
Bono is hoping that their discussion will help unlock artists who he thinks are trapped into the
pressure of not giving a wrong impression of themselves to the public. He said a great song that
pleases God should contain honest expression of an artist s experiences. ... Show more content on

We don t have to please God in any other way than to be brutally honest, Bono told Fuller Studio in
the interview. That is the root. Not just to a relationship with God, but it s the root to a great song. That
s the only place you can find a great song. The only place you can find any work of art, of merit.
Aside from that, Bono addressed the labeling of music as either Christian or not Christian. The U2
singer said such labels are not needed in every song, and that a song should not be seen as something
that is not spiritual just because it is not classified as Christian.
Bono said he wants to hear are songs about artists rage at ongoing injustice, marriage woes, and other
topics that would spur people into action. He added that musicians should create art not merely to
please others.
This is not the first time that Bono has touched the topic of Christian faith in his interviews. Speaking
to Focus on the Family in 2013, he said losing his mother at an early age left a void which he filled
with music and also strengthened his faith, Christianity Today

Toys R Us Japan Essay
Toys R Us Japan
Answer1: Is Japan a good market for Toys R Us? CAGE Framework Cultural: * Lavish spending on
children s toys and clothes to compensate for constant pressure to excel in school * Greater preference
to personal attention and guaranteed repair rather than low prices * But the younger generation owing
to a greater international exposure realized that they were paying greater prices for many consumer
goods compared to global standard * Cultural shift from taking over parents small shops to
experimenting with bolder ventures * Principle of loyalty to manufacturers was strong in wholesaling
and retailing Figure1: with the falling birth rate and fewer mouths to feed, the Japanese families ...

In 1991, the entry of Toys R Us would displace more people from jobs than the opportunities it would
create. The displaced people also include old people above 60 for whom this is a safety net post
retirement. Japanese economy was in a state of virtual full employment with qualified male graduates
preferring local employers to foreign establishments. Yet it will give employment opportunities for
Japanese women
Conclusion: The entry of Toys R Us would shake the traditional Japanese toy business, however the
cracks appearing in the retail structure points towards the need for transformation in the Japanese
market. Hence Toys R Us potentially is a good prospect for the Japanese markets.
Answer3 Has Toys R Us chosen the best entry strategy for the Japanese market? Has it chosen the
right partner?
It has core competency in its industry and has been in the International Strategy for long time. So, next
opportunity would be for a Transnational Strategy following the incremental strategy where it should
be focusing upon. In order to have it the Integration and Responsiveness should be high. It has
successfully addressed the concerns related to CAGE framework by addressing the following

Why Organic Farming Is Capable Of Sustaining The Global...
Introduction Components 1. Discuss the problem statement, (what is the issue we are addressing?)
The problem statement to these three articles is to see if organic farming is capable of sustaining the
global population by weighing the pros and cons of organic vs conventional farming. 2. Who are the
authors and what are their qualifications? First author, DiGregori has neither expertise or credential;
he is a phD in Economics and does not have any experience dealing with agronomy nor did he cite
anyone. Second author, Vasilikiotis, is well qualified for writing about this article subject. Vasilikiotis
has a phD in agricultural and biological sciences, meaning that he has done research in this field and is
knowledgeable. He also has cited many other researches done by scientists and elaborated on the
results. The third author, Stockdale, has a phD in physics so he doesn t have any expertise in the field.
However, he has a couple of citations from other scientists and researchers that seems credible. 3.
Clearly define pseudoscience. Explain why we need to be cautious of pseudoscience with this issue.
Pseudoscience is science that cannot be tested or proven. It usually derives from faulty non empirical
logic and is hard to spot due to fake citations and similarity to real science. We should be caution of
pseudoscience because it is ubiquitous in the scientific world and can be detrimental when used to
support a scientific claim. 4. Discuss appropriate standards to

African American Male and Crime Justice System
Introduction
The past quarter century has seen an enormous growth in the American incarceration rate. Importantly,
some scholars have suggested that the rate of prison growth has little to do with the theme of crime
itself, but it is the end result of particular U.S. policy choices. Clear (2007) posits that these policy
choices have had well defined implications for the way prison populations have come to replicate a
concentrated occurrence among specified subgroups in the United States population in particular
young black men from deprived communities (p. 49).
All societal groups are affected by the issue of imprisonment, but it is a far more likely occurrence
among marginalized cultural groups, particularly African Americans. As the United States celebrates
the nation s triumph over race with the selection of Barack Obama as the first African American male
president, a majority of young black males in major American cities are locked behind bars, or
categorized felons for life (Alexander, 2010, p. 1). Bonczar and Beck (1997) report that:
Black men are seven times likely to go to prison than are white men; black women are eight times
likely to go than are white women. The lifetime likelihood of incarceration for aggregate numbers
requires some getting used to. If today s imprisonment stays stable, nearly one third of black males

Barrett Seven Levels Of Consciousness Analysis
Introduction
Leadership skills are very important for a project manager since project manager is always a leader
due to his/her position. Leadership is defined by behavior, which in turn is dependent on personal
values. This is why this essay will look at Barrett Seven Levels of Consciousness Model that
categorizes individual values, Life Orientations Model (LIFO) that describes four behavioral styles
and FIRO B Model that also illustrates different behavioral components. The survey results will be
compared and similar patterns will be identified. After that the possible gaps in the leadership style
and behavior will be uncovered. Finally, an action plan will be developed to remove these gaps and
improve both individual and team performance, contributing to successful management of the projects
in future.

The patterns of our behavior are grounded in experience: we keep doing what worked for us in the
past and stop doing the things that didn t work. The development and compilation of different theories
such as Rogers communication congruency theory, Maslow s hierarchy of needs, Drucker s motivation
theory and Fromm s theory of productive and unproductive behavior (...the name of your game
Atkins) build up LIFO, shedding light on how values affect our behavior and form a specific
behavioral style. In LIFO the 4 strength based behavioral styles are described (Supporting,
Controlling, Conserving and Adapting) in two types of conditions: favorable and unfavorable (Lifo.co,
2016). The model also describes how positive values can become negative, turning from strengths to
weaknesses. Atkins and Katcher (n.d.) mention that the benefits of applying LIFO include the
opportunity to form better teams through the analysis of strength gaps and determine factors
negatively influencing decision making in

College Education Is No Longer Valuable
Many people believe that getting a college education is no longer valuable. They believe that with the
internet at their fingertips there is no need for a college education, but college education provides
more than just information for their students. College is about independence and learning how to take
charge of his or her life. It is an opportunity for students to learn about their future career. Students
learn about intriguing subjects, how to make lifelong friends, and how to spend valuable time with
people outside of his or her social circle. Students have the rest of their lives to go to work every day,
but college gives them a chance to make connections, build networks, and get to know new people
who have a different life experiences. Many people believe that the time and cost of a college
education no longer outweighs the benefits; however, acquiring a college degree gives students an
opportunity to find their dream job and to earn more money in the future. Before entering the
workplace, students should take advantage of the opportunities that acquiring a college degree will
provide. One opportunity is that college allows students to learn what career they like and dislike
before they enter the labor force. College is a time to explore a major that will continue to appeal to
the student throughout his or her life. Many students are unsure of their career path after graduating
from high school. College provides students with a stepping stone to experience

  • 2. The Older Generation And Life Experiences In My Life You can learn so much from the older generations. Their life experiences can teach you a lot and give you some insight on this thing we call life. Generations interacting with each other can be very beneficial to society today. Older generations can explain to the youth that everything in life won t go the way you plan for it to, but that s okay. They can let them know to take the hand that life deals them and make the best out of it. People from older generations can prove to you that no matter how many curve balls life throw at you; you can still become successful. I was able to interview someone from the baby boomer s generation and apply their life experiences to my lifespan course. I have known Jeanetta Wrice all of my life, and I have gotten to know her in all aspects of her life. She is able to juggle being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend all while having a career and I loved that about her. Growing up wasn t smooth for her, she had many bumps she had to overcome to achieve her success. During the interview I was able to ask her questions about how she became successful all while starting a family at a young age. Another question I had was about her environment. Being that she lived in a rough neighborhood how did she stay on the right path and not give in to peer pressure to drop out and etcetera. Throughout my middle school years, she started going back to school so I was able to see how she divided her time between her family, job, and school. As a girl who didn t grow up in the best environment either but still wanting to one day have a career, a family, and become a business owne,r I wanted to see how she overcame her odds. I first wanted to hear about Mrs. Wrice s childhood and what encouraged her to stay on the right path. She explained that since she was one of the younger siblings she watched and followed what some of her older siblings did. Mrs. Wrice did most of her development according to Bandura s social learning theory according to our textbooks definition. She would watch her sister study and work a job determined to graduate high school and continue on to college. Another example she had was an older brother that was a little rebellious and skipped school and stayed on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Shawshank Redemption Behaviorism The book Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption shows the stretch of behaviorism. It explored how being separated from something for a long time can affect the instincts of the individual. In the story, when prisoners get out they are confused, feel unsafe, and think about commiting a crime just to get back into prison. This story shows how being rewarded and being punished makes the individual and makes an identity. Behaviorism is the idea that your behavior is determined by punishment or reward. In Shawshank this is an important theme as it shows how the prisoners change and adapt in prison. Prisoners get so used to prison life, that when they leave it is impossible for them to fit in. For example, Brooks was in prison for about 50 years and when he got paroled he began crying as he was leaving the prison. Brooks was the librarian in prison and held an important role compared to other prisoners. He didn t last very long and died within six months outside of prison; Brooks helped raise a crow and as soon Brooks left, the crow died. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He talks about how fast things move, how cars have changed, how automobiles move fast compared to the ones he has seen in the past before he was in prison. I had no idea of how fast things moved on the outside; the raw speed people move at. They even talk faster. And louder (King 83). Red talks about how women dress differently and show a lot of skin. Red talks about how he has a habit of going to the restroom twenty five after the hour and asking his boss. Despite the fact that he no longer needs to ask for permission it s something he is used to. Red talks about how he thinks of committing a crime just to go to prison where he feels safe. The fact that he doesn t feel safe outside is saying something that long term prison sentences affects the individual to a point where prison is all they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The always changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time period (Foner, xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically different viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface is divided into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the different interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the Progressive School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the wave of new politics and social attitudes, the Revisionists crippled all standing interpretations, leading to a drastically different account of the Reconstruction. Depicting the Reconstruction as a time for incredible social and political growth for African Americans, Revisionists strayed from the original negative connotations of Reconstruction. Within the new revised Reconstruction, Johnson was no longer the courageous protector of the civil liberties of his people, but rather a racist who failed to react to the predicaments at hand while in Presidency and Radicals were no longer money hungry capitalists of the North, but rather individuals dedicated to advocacy for African Americans (Foner, xiii). Although using the Civil Rights Movement as the backbone for the Revisionist era proved itself effective, there were still a group of individuals, Post Revisionists, who continued to view the changes during Reconstruction as a bland and inadequate time in American ... • 5. Importance Of Gladiators Historically, gladiator battles were a very complicated issue. This is because most people think that the gladiator battles were completely fair. However they weren t. This topic is misguided because no one thinks about how the gladiators were chosen, the equipment they used, and finally how the audience influenced whether they died or not. Gladiator battles were unfair because the gladiators didn t have a choice. When gladiator battles started, the people that were the gladiators were either slaves or prisoners of a war. And because they were slaves or prisoners, they didn t have a choice if they wanted to be a gladiator or not. While you might think that killing prisoners of war wasn t a big deal, it is because killing prisoners of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Hope Babowice, the author of dailyherald.com, Around five thousand gladiators died each year during the Roman empire which lasted till the 5th century. If you do the math, that is two million five hundred thousand people that died in gladiator battles. The last thing that was unfair about the equipment is that when an emperor fought against a gladiator, he would weaken him. He did this by either taking away almost all of his armor, or he would give the gladiator a wooden sword while the emperor was able to use a steel sword. This shows me that the equipment that the gladiators used was unfair. Finally, the last thing that was unfair was how the audience influenced if the gladiators lived or died. The reason why I say this is because sometimes the audience could choose if the gladiators would die. The way they would do this is by giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. What a thumbs up means is that it was a excellent fight, and they spare the losing gladiator s life. But that usually wasn t the case. They most likely would give a thumbs down, and that meant that the winning gladiator would strike his opponent with a sword. They did this because the audience found it entertaining. Also, according to history.com they said that the audience was unfair to the gladiators, because they yell things like burn him, or flog him, which also influenced whether the gladiators would die or not. Even if the gladiators fought a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It doesn t matter if it s a tie dye creation or a silkscreened masterpiece, you want it to last. Sadly, t shirts are susceptible to fading, shrinking, cracking, graphic loss, etc. When you wear your shirts, the sun, the sweat, and other elements speed the deterioration of your tee. Further, the way you wash, dry and store your shirt plays a huge part in the life of your prized possession. Plastic sleeves are another way to keep your shirts looking their best. At very least, they should be folded and kept on your shelf or in a dresser drawer. 9. Make a T shirt Folder. An ally in the fight to protect your shirts is the proper fold. You don t want to run creases through your artwork. A shirt folder is a great way to quickly fold your shirts in a proper manner. A folder can be purchased or made for a matter of cents from common household materials (six pieces of 9x12 cardboard and a roll of duct tape). While cereal boxes are a little thin, they are the right size. Place the rectangles three wide by two deep about a quarter inch apart. Connect the panels with the duct tape on the front and the back. The quarter inch of duct tape between the panels will act like hinges, so make sure they are pressed together well. The folder is now complete. Lay your shirt face down on the folder vertically with the neck to the top. Fold the right two panels to the center. Leave the shirt, but pull the panels back. Repeat this move on the left. Fold the panel in the center bottom up toward the top. You now have a perfectly folded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Bilingual Education Policy in Australia Concerning... From the time the British first settled the continent to the present, the Aboriginal people of Australia and the English speaking Australian government have had a rocky relationship. For many years, aboriginal Australians experienced much discrimination and racism. Like Native Americans in the United States, the Aborigines were displaced from their tribal lands and forced into designated settlements. This was all part of an attempt on the part of the government and the European settlers to eradicate Aboriginal culture. Though overtly racist policies have now been done away with and formal apologies given, much of Aboriginal culture has been lost. Efforts to revive it are now underway, and at the forefront of these are efforts to revitalize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ensuring that Aboriginal children are able to become fully proficient in Standard Australian English is important, since it greatly expands the number of opportunities available to them in higher education, employment, and access to services (McKay, 300). Aboriginal parents are eager for these children to gain access to these opportunities through mastery of Standard Australian English, but do not wish their own languages to be lost in the process (McKay, 305). Aboriginal Australians, even those who do not themselves speak an Aboriginal language, show great pride in their language as part of their cultural identity (McKay, 299). As such, it is necessary for schools to display recognition of each language s intrinsic cultural value and linguistic complexity and uniqueness (Gale, 282). Concrete evidence of the value of these languages to Aboriginal people is shown by the fact that knowledge of an Aboriginal language decreases the likelihood of excessive alcohol consumption and illicit drug use in 15 to 24 year old Aborigines (McKay, 300). In the past, well implemented bilingual education programs have resulted in a stronger relationship between schools and their surrounding communities, as well as an increase in the interest of Aboriginal people in becoming teachers (McKay, 312). To see how wrong he is lets take a look at the Jim Crow era. First Jim Crow was the name of the racial class method which operated mainly, but not purely in the south, between eighteen seventy seven and the nineteen sixty. Jim Crow was more than a series of severe anti black laws. It was a way of life to african americans. Under Jim Crow, African Americans were relegated to the status of second class citizens. • 13. Hildegard s Gender Is Of Course Not An Accident Hildegard s gender is of course not an accident. Throughout history, we have claimed Hildegard as the first Christian thinkers to deal seriously and positively with feminine issues, as well as the challenges posed by and for women in a patriarchal society. She formulated her thoughts within the traditional framework of christian symbols, through the great reflection on the great feminine representations and essence of Eve, Mary, and Mother church. In our current struggles of spirituality and gender, Hildegard can be a guide. Her visionary forms fade into one another, but within all of them and behind them all, shines neither women nor man, but the living light. By using Hildegard of Bingen as a central figure in 12th century religious practice, we can then use Chritianity as an example to compare and contrast women s experiences in religious practice in the 12th century and the 21st century. Hildegard was destined from an early age to live a life of enclosure in her cell. Rather than choosing to enter their daughter formally as a child in a covenant where she would be brought up to become a nun, Hildegard s parents locked her in a cell of anchoress. A daughter of a local count, Jutta, undertook to instruct Hildegard in the recitation of the psalter and in other womanly occupations, such as sewing, cooking, and cleaning. It was essential in the 12th century that women were taught to perform these gendered duties so they could provide for their husbands and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychotherapy Theories Practices Final Paper I believe that psychotherapy is a reciprocal process of engagement, learning and changing that happens in both the client and the therapist, Therefore, when the client comes from a radically different cultural background from our own, as clinicians we must familiarize ourselves and adjust to the nature and conditions of that culture. For a while, the most prominent focal point of psychoanalytic studies, literature and practices in the United States has been the issues concerning the development of the sense of self and personal identity and the importance of the child s early attachment to the mother and the emergence of the self as an independent identity (Corsini, 2011, p. 26). No matter how acculturated clients are, when using Western psychotherapy with non Western clients, it is important to consider the possibility that their worldviews contain structures that differ from those of Westerners. One of the most prominent figures and contributors of the study of development and of object relations was Hungarian born psychoanalyst Margaret Mahler (1968) who trained in Vienna and immigrated to New York City. Through the use of an empirical model of observation, Mahler studied the overt (but pre verbal) behavioral interactions between mother child dyads in order to formulate the theory of separation individuation, which is the topic I have chosen to focus on for this paper. Although I acknowledge the values, potential usefulness, and ways in which Mahler s theory of separation individuation can be universally applicable, I would argue that it can become a critical issue (having the impact of harm than of help) in psychotherapy with clients from collectivistic and Confucian societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. I recognize the wide scope of clinical implications that Mahler s separation individuation theory offers, not only in clarifying mother child interactions and object relations, but also in terms of its intra psychic and inter personal dimensions. Symbiosis is a biological term borrowed and used metaphorically by Mahler et al. (1975) when referring to the infant s intra psychic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There have been numerous amounts of orcas captured from the wild since than. These innocent and helpless orcas have been snatched from their families, and forced to live with other orcas who are not part of their family. By looking at the documentary, Blackfish, one can see the many reasons why orcas should not be held in captivity. The oldest theory is of Freud s psychoanalytic view, dreams are visual representations of suppressed thoughts or unacceptable desires, ideas, aspirations, or memories. In terms of the essay, race can be defined as, the conflict between the Egyptians and Hebrews. In particular this essay will focus on the depiction of slavery, Moses killing an Egyptian, and the relationship between Moses and Ramses. The conflict between the Egyptians and Hebrews was well demonstrated throughout the movie. Although comparing it to Exodus, the conflict was portrayed less brutal. The animosity between the Hebrews and Egyptians is played down. The relationship between Ramses and Moses shows compassion towards Egyptians and Hebrews. The issue of race is evident in the prince of Egypt but is played down. This can be seen through less brutality inflicted on the slaves, when Moses kills an Egyptian, and the relationship between Ramses and Moses. When the Prince of Egypt would show the scenes of slavery, they were seen as less brutal. For example during the opening scene the Hebrews are shown building Egypt. While this is going on the viewer is able to see how the Hebrew were treated by the Egyptians. The singing puts the scene in a less intense mode. The only dialogue is song which is sung for promise of going to the promise land. Instead of focusing in on the brutality of slavery, the scene gives hope to the slaves. So the Egyptians made the Israelites their slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them, hoping to wear them down with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, they are living in a country very far away from their own. The country they are studying at has a very different way of life than theirs. Further more, the laws in that country are much different than the laws in their own country. Due to that they face a lot of problems trying to adapt to this new culture. Me personally as an international student in the US studying at ASU, have faced three particularly difficult challenges that I was able to overcome through time. In this essay I will explain how international students can overcome tough challenges and situations. The first challenge, and in my opinion the most crucial challenge that I had to face was learning the English language, and communicating with different people. Almost every international student is faced with this challenge; Alberto Fernández Fernández said, International students often face adjustment issues impacting their level of satisfaction with their experience. These involve oral language proficiency, as well as feelings of anxiety and isolation resulting from language deficiencies . This challenge was important for me to overcome due to the fact that I am here for the sole purpose to study in an American University, so obviously I am required to learn the language. Likewise, I have to learn how to speak so that I can be able to communicate with other students and professors. I personally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Army Hand Salute Research Paper History Have you ever wondered why we salute or where this gesture of respect came from? To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today. This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the military today. The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute. The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services. There seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this gesture of trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and Medieval Times. During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in order to see a public official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free of a weapon. In Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. This gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today. The African-American Male and the Criminal Justice System African American Male and Crime Justice System [Author s Name] [Institution s Name] African American Male and Crime Justice System Introduction The past quarter century has seen an enormous growth in the American incarceration rate. Importantly, some scholars have suggested that the rate of prison growth has little to do with the theme of crime itself, but it is the end result of particular U.S. policy choices. Clear (2007) posits that these policy choices have had well defined implications for the way prison populations have come to replicate a concentrated occurrence among specified subgroups in the United States population in particular young black men from deprived communities (p. 49). All societal groups are affected by the issue of imprisonment, but it is a far more likely occurrence among marginalized cultural groups, particularly African Americans. As the United States celebrates the nation s triumph over race with the selection of Barack Obama as the first African American male president, a majority of young black males in major American cities are locked behind bars, or categorized felons for life (Alexander, 2010, p. 1).
