Risk Of Confidentiality In Healthcare
Healthcare has become more accessible as mobile technology becomes more powerful and
reliable. Accessing your healthcare information is as easy as ordering a pizza. More and more
health care professionals are using laptops, smartphones, Wi Fi networks, and tablets to provide
resources to the community. This is why patient confidentiality has become a priority when using
these mediums of communication. There are some precautions that we can take away to prevent
data breach. The risk of data breach varies on the mobile device and the use of such. Some of the
risk may include: Lost of mobile device Stolen mobile device Usage of unsecure Wi Fi networks
Unintentional contamination of malware and viruses Disclosure of unauthorized

Hyperfunctional Voice Disorders Research Paper Outline
Hyperfunctional Voice Disorders
Hyperfunctional voice disorders are voice problems that happen when uncontrollable tightening
(spasm) prevents the vocal cords from working properly. Vocal cords normally move back and
forth to make sounds when air passes through the voice box (larynx). If you have a
hyperfunctional voice disorder, the area of the brain that controls vocal cord movement does not
send the right signals. This causes the vocal cords to spasm. Hyperfunctional voice disorders might
also be referred to as muscle tension dysphonia.
Sometimes the spasms force the vocal cords open when they should be closed. This makes you
lose your voice. Sometimes the spasms cause the vocal cords to close too tightly. This makes your
voice sound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DIAGNOSIS
You may be diagnosed with a hyperfunctional voice disorder based on:
Your symptoms.
Your medical history.
A physical exam to check your larynx and evaluate your speech.
Procedures that are done to:
в—‹ Examine your throat with a scope that has a tiny camera on the end (laryngoscope). The scope
projects images onto a monitor (direct laryngoscopy).
в—‹ Examine the movement of your vocal cords in the reflection of a mirror (indirect
laryngoscopy).
в—‹ Check the movement of your vocal cords in slow motion, using a special flickering light
(laryngeal stroboscopy).
в—‹ Test the electrical activity of your larynx muscles (electromyography or EMG).
You may also see a health care provider who specializes in conditions of the ear, nose, and throat
(otolaryngologist or ENT specialist) or conditions of the nervous system (neurologist).
TREATMENT
There is no cure for this condition. The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms and improve the
quality of your voice. Treatment depends on the specific type of voice disorder you have, and may
include:
Injections of botulinum toxin to block the brain signals that cause your vocal cords to spasm.
These injections need to be repeated because the effects last only 3 4

Cervical Spine
In the article, Assessment of the Cervical Spine Range of Motion After the Use of the Saunders
Traction Device in Different Positioning of the Upper Extremities, cervical spine complaints are
seen to be increasing due in part to our society becoming more health aware.1 The pain begins
with increased tension or stiffness in the muscles of the posterior neck, with varying levels of pain
that begin to spread to other areas of the body over time. The positioning of the head towards
protraction, pushing forward the shoulders, and an increase in spine inclination is the cause of the
pain. If this pain goes untreated, range of motion of the area will decrease, resulting in an overload
of other areas attempting to compensate for the injured site. These... Show more content on

The modified position yielded a higher statistical significance post procedure.1 From the
observation of each patients pain levels both before and after each treatment, it was determined
that the traditional position was more successful at reducing pain symptoms. Traditional
positioning also created a higher level of comfort and allowed for a more forceful level of
traction.1 The modified position gave patients painful and uncomfortable feelings that the
traditional position was able to avoid. This discomfort is what caused the complaints of pain form
patients that made it impossible to finish a session of traction. The force of traction was noted
earlier by patients in the modified position, which leads researches to question if this position puts
the muscles in a more injury prone position. The authors concluded that there is no difference in the
effectiveness of differing positions of the arms while traction is

Example Of The Unsung Heros
Some people view a hero as a man that saves a child from a burning building, or a man that stops
the robber at the bank. Although they re not wrong a hero can be much more, most heros go
unheard of and are not rewarded. On the other hand some heros do get noticed for their courageous
acts and are rewarded with a medalor other objects that signified they have helped the world. The
heros I want to show you are some of the unsung heros that did great things. I define a hero as
being a self sacrificing, determined, and a brave ordinary person.
Ever seen a hero sacrifice himself for others, if so this is probably a hero like John roberts who
put his life on the line for the greater good. This section of hero usually results in the death of one
man to save many. This example from Listverse.com about 1st Lieutenant John Robert in WW2
shows just that. Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and Prince look a like 1st Lieutenant
John Robert Fox was directing artillery fire in the Italian town of Sommocolonia to stall a
German advance. While Fox was directing fire, a large German force moved in on his
position.Realising that this force was a huge threat to his men, Fox called a final artillery strike
on himself. When his men eventually retook the position, Fox s body was found next to
approximately 100 dead German troops and a medal was placed neatly on his chest. This is truly
moving who knows if he didn t sacrifice himself it could have turned the tide for WW2.

The Life of Charles Rennie Mackintosh Essay
Charles Re7nnie Mackintosh was born on June 7, 1868. He was born and raised in Glasgow,
Scotland. Mackintosh was the son of a police superintendent. Charles was an architect, artist, and
designer in Scotland. He designed in the post impressionist movement. Mackintosh was considered
to be a huge influence on European architecture in his time. Charles was the fourth child out of
eleven children. Later in his life, he went to The GlasgowSchool of Art and met Margaret
MacDonald his future wife. Later they became members of a group called The Four. They got
married in 1900 and never had any children. In 1923 they moved to France due to financial issues.

One article talks about Japanese architecture being used in the Glasgow School of Art, There are
Japanese influences in the use and shape of the projecting timber eaves at the stairwells, left, and
also in some of the internal details (ScotCities).
At the time Charles was designing, there was a new movement: simplifying architecture, making it
practical. This was the modernist movement. The modernist movement was used to create new
technology. Charles liked this idea because it incorporated the past, present, and the future, instead
of just focusing on history like other architects were doing. Mackintosh also inspired European
architecture as a whole after his death. One article discusses Charles influence on Architecture,
Although Mackintosh s architectural output was fairly small he had a considerable influence on
European design. Especially popular in Austria and Germany, Mackintosh s work was highly
acclaimed when it was shown at the Vienna Secession Exhibition in 1900 (Spartacus Educational).
Charles was alive during the Vienna Secession that also inspired Frank Lloyd Wright.

Computers Can Not Have Minds
Alan Turing, father of modern computers, created the Turing Machine in order to prove, through
the use of an imitation game, that computers can think. John Searle argued that the Turing Test is
simply just imitating, rather than thinking. Based on Searle s argument against the Turing Test, I
think that computers cannot have minds. Although Turing argues that computers can think, there
are many arguments, such as Searle s Chinese room argument, and defenses that I will present that
support Searle and his belief that computers do not understand the information they simulate and
cannot think. As stated above, the purpose of the Turing Machine is to prove that computers can
think. A Turing Machine is composed of a scanner with a tape made of paper running through it.
This paper tape is divided into squares. Each square on the tape contains a symbol, either a 0 of a
1. The machine, along with two humans, will participate in an imitation game. Human A and the
Turing Machine are hidden from view of Human B and have a conversation in order for Human B
to try to determine which of the communicators is a robot, if either one is a robot. The machine s
goal is to trick Human B into thinking it (the machine) is the human. Turing states that if the
machine is successful, then the machine does have a mind. Turing s machine has the ability to
answer any question presented to it, and Turing saw this ability as a sign of extreme intelligence.
On the other hand, Searle argued that this

How Khadijah Is Becoming A Successful Individual
A Drive to Succeed Khadijah is becoming a successful individual. Her past identity impelled her
to her new identity as an intellectual stable college student at Harvard. Khadijah is a brave
fighter who is willing to succeed. She is an 18 year old high school student trying to make it out
of the streets by using her academic achievements. Her mother had her at the age of fourteen and
was a drop out. Khadijah and her family are homeless; she has moved schools over twelve times.
At school she had a different identity where no one knew she was poor because she always held
her dignity. Being a homeless 18 year old she was accepted to numerous elite universities such
as Brown, Columbia, Amherst, and Williams. School was the only thing Khadijah knew
growing up in the streets and in shelters. School was her only home, away from being with the
thugs, dealers, and prostitutes. She never doubted her capabilities to strive for success.
Khadijah s academic achievements drove her away from her indigent social class to be a
prestigious individual in society. Khadijah never got it easy, she had to work her way up to
success. The article explains, She awoke at 4 a.m. and returned at 11 p.m., and kept her grade
point average at jut below a 4.0 while participating in the Academic Decathlon, the debate team
and leading the school s track and field team (Bermudez p.5). She always worked hard for her
success in school; though she was homeless and had no financial help or stability.

Relationship Selling And Transaction Selling
Chapter 1
Question 4: There is a difference between relationship selling and transaction selling. The book
defines relationship marketing as, The process by which a firm builds long term relationships with
customers for the purpose of creating mutual competitive advantages (Stanton 9). As learned
throughout this chapter, relationship selling is very important for success. Relationship selling
allows the salespeople to understand customers needs and wants and allows them to provide
solutions. These solutions are value added, which may be information and services as shared in the
book.
Some roles in relationship selling include retaining existing accounts, become the preferred

In transaction selling, salespeople call on a large number of accounts and he or she does not focus
on building relationships with these customers. Salespeople involved in transaction selling, focus
on getting the sale. I feel that these salespeople focus solely on the price and try to fit the customer
s needs on the basis of cost to get the sale.

Chapter 2
Question 5: Marketing people rely on salespeople, while salespeople rely on marketing people. In
marketing management there is a lack of communication between the two departments, marketing
and sales.
As learned in the chapter, the marketing department is responsible for developing a firm s
marketing strategy. This strategy includes decisions on how to promote, distribute, and price the
products (Stanton 45). The marketing department relies on the salespeople to determine the
dependability. It is vital that the salespeople communicate the marketing strategy. If something is
not selling, letting the marketing department know will allow them to make decisions and changes
to the strategy.
Also, the salespeople work first hand with the customers and should know what is and is not
working for the customer. The salespeople should collect this information from the customers

The Simpsons Reflection
Whether you love them, or hate them, The Simpsons a key piece to young adulthood in many
homes around the world. From depicting things such as struggling with disorders, problems with
the boss, or average family life, most North American families are able to relate to the The
Simpsons and that is why we keep crawling back each Sunday night. In the episode Mypods and
Boomsticks, Bart Simpsonmeets a new friend from Jordan named Bashir. After learning they
share many common interest, especially coming to food, Bart and Bashir become such good
friends, Bart learns that Bashir is a muslim. After learning this, Marge is proud of Bart for
meeting new people and stepping outside a comfort zone to meet and share new experiences.
Homer s reaction is quite the opposite. Once word gets out that Homer s son has befriended a
muslim, Homer s friends begin to spit stereotypes in Homer s face about muslims and the culture
behind Islam. After long, persuasive conversations, half witted Homer decides to invite Bashir
and his family to a dinner in an attempt to Assimilate them to American culture, this includes
offering them Pork Back Ribs and a large american flag cake that Homer later states is
Poisonous. This shows Homer s apparent inability to make decisions for himself and for the sake
of his family. After this assimilation attempt, Bashir s family realizes it is best if they leave. Upon
leaving, Homer recognizes the mistakes and decides to go to Bashir s home to apologize for his

Male Dominance over Female characters in John Harwood s novel, The Asylum
Today s society perceives women to be stronger and dominant individuals in comparison to men,
although, in reality, there are numerous circumstances in which men exhibit more power and
control over the important decisions in women s lives. In his novel, The Asylum, John Harwood
portrays the ways in which men exert power over women through the relationships between Rosina
and her father as well as Dr. Straker and Georgina. Through the characters of Rosina and Georgina,
Harwood depicts that women face many insecurities which ultimately causes the relationships ...

Rather than admitting her true feelings, Rosina gives her consent for the alliance in order to please
her father due to her fear of him, exemplifying that her diffident personality in the novel leads to
the tenuous bonds between them both. Furthermore, Rosina s father s obedience leads him to
become very stern towards Rosina s freedom as Your [Rosina s] duty is to obey me, and you will
learn to like him [Mr. Bradstone] because I wish it... Until then, as I say, you are to remain
outdoors: I have given orders to ensure that you do. Disobey me in this, and you will be confined
to your room (135 136). Thomas s ascendancy over his daughter s decisions is evident as he is
very strict and intimidating, Rosina must obey commands in order to live with him or else there are
bound to be dire consequences. Instead of fighting for her rights and freedom, Rosina feebly agrees
to her father s instructions, thus reinforcing the one sided relationship between both father and
daughter.
Moving on, Georgina and Dr. Straker s bond also begins to diminish as Dr. Straker s dominance
over Georgina s confinement at Tregannon Asylum eventually leads to the loss of control over her
decisions. First and foremost, at the asylum, Georgina wakes up to find her

Satire Modest Proposal Essay
Effectively ushering change in society or pointing out faults that have existed and gone unnoticed
can be a daunting task for any social commentator. Often, blandly protesting grievances or concerns
can fall upon deaf ears and change can be slow or non existent. However some social
commentators, such as Jonathan Swiftin his pamphlet A Modest Proposal, use clever, targeted, and
ironic criticism to bring the social state of Ireland to the attention of indolent aristocrats. He
accomplishes such criticism through satire, specifically Juvenanlian satire. Swift s A Modest
Proposal stands as a perfect example of the type of satire that plays upon the audience s emotion by
creating anger concerning the indifference of the voice created. He... Show more content on

Contrastingly, such morally unconventional solutions would not exist in a calmer, straight
forward Horatian satire. Swift s development of the absurd proposal for eating young children so
that the poorer tenants will have something valuable or that there would be constant customers
for infants flesh is enhanced by numerous examples of biting irony. Such irony exists even in the
title: A Modest Proposal. Upon reading the text, the audience can agree that Swift s proposal is
far from modest and such irony servers to enrage and puzzle the readers to the point that they
question why he would be using such shifting, ironic diction. Swift s use of absurd logic to his
proposal supplements the effectiveness of verbal irony, since no one would believe that children
should be eaten to improve in the art of making good bacon . The aforementioned examples
illustrate Swift s craftiness and the use irony to almost mock the audience. In true Juveliean
fashion, such techniques are designed to arouse the reader to anger and suspicion of what is trying
to be said. A satire based on the Horatian type wouldn t use such blatantly offensive irony. Rather,
the tone of voice would be gentler, more good humored and sympathetic ( Horatian Satire ). In
contrast to such an authorial voice, Swift, through

Analysis Of Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
The book, Whale Done, written by Ken Blanchard, exemplifies how a business manager named
Wes Kinsley learns the key to managing relationships while on a trip to SeaWorld. Kinsley
uncovers the secret to managing positive relationships with people by witnessing how trainers at
SeaWorld receive incredible responses from their whales by highlighting their positive behaviour,
and ignoring or redirecting their negative behaviours. In the book, Blanchard contrasts the GOTcha
manager, one who seeks to only accentuate the negative properties of individuals actions with the
WHALE DONE manager, who highlights and tries to reinforce positive behaviour. The goal of

However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in communication.
Negative responses are useful in order to keep workers inline and stopping them from breaking
rules. It can be necessary in many situations; however, managers of today still abuse negative
responses. There are examples of modern day managers using negative responses and finding
success. For example, John Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the
National Hockey League has found success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but he
actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the
Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his teams success. (Cooper, 2015). He is often seen
as a villain in the hockey community, but his success is clearly attributable to his negative
responses and negative attitude. This tough relationship he has with his players must improve
their play because he has been a coach on and off in the league since 2001. Blanchard s ideologies
clearly go against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no denying his success. This
style of management can be successful in some places, and modern managers have to understand
when to apply this style. Clearly Blanchard s methods are successful, but so are

How Pentecostalism Is One Of The Major Denomination Of...
utumn Petrolina Hayes, Andrew Anthropology 130 22 February 2016 Pentecostalism
Pentecostalism is one of the major denominations of Protestant Christianity that originated from
the Holiness Revival of the 19th century. The Pentecostal Movement began in Topeka, Kansas at
Bethel Bible College, established by Charles Parham who taught that speaking in tongues was a
spiritual gift that demonstrated as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit, a distinct type of
baptism experienced in chapter two of the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost. On January 1st
of 1901, Agnes Ozman, a student at Bethel Bible School, was the first person to speak in tongues
after being baptized with The Holy Spirit. This marks the beginning of the Pentecostal Revival.
In 1905, Parham began preaching in Houston, Texas where he began a smaller bible school.
According to Kevin Sack, a journalist for The New York Times, an African American pastor
named William Seymour would attend Parham s services though he was made to sit outside the
room and listen through a cracked door. Parham s teachings of baptism with the Holy Spirit
enveloped Seymour, who took this new theology to Los Angeles in 1906 where he temporarily
pastored a small African American Holiness Church. The church rejected Seymour s claims on
tongues as proof of baptism with The Holy Spirit. The pastor of the church, Julia Hitchins, was
outraged by Seymour s sermon and kicked him out of the church. Seymour moved in with a friend

Essay about Articles of Confederation
The Preamble of the Constitution of the United States of America classifies an effective
government as one that establish[s] justice, insure[s] domestic tranquility, provide[s] for the
common defense, promote[s] the general welfare, and secure[s] the blessings of liberty. Based on
these standards, the Articles of Confederationwere effective to a certain degree at the time, but in
the end, were too liberal to be effective. Because its main purpose was to ensure the blessings of
liberty, the Articles of Confederation had to sacrifice stability and security, which ultimately led to
its downfall.

The sixteenth section of each township was to be sold for the benefit of the public schools. This
law, which secured the future education of the citizens of the forthcoming states of the Old
Northwest, is a good example of how the government under the Articles of Confederation promoted
the general welfare. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787, which related to the governing of the Old
Northwest, came to grips with the problem of how a nation should deal with its colonial peoples.
The solution afforded by the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was a compromise: momentary
subordination then permanent equality. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 preserved the spirit of
equality. This law granted that when sixty thousand people inhabited a territory, it would be
admitted by Congress as a state, with all the privileges of the thirteen charter members (American
Pageant, 174). Instead of keeping these new territories in permanent subordination, it promised
equality in the future. Because its main goal was to preserve freedom and equality, the Articles of
Confederation proved to be an effective government for the people of that era, who were trite of
monarchies and dictatorships.
In order to limit the power of the federal government, the Articles of Confederation created one

United Kingdom And Its Influence On The United States
History
Many public schools teach basic government to students, and from what they taught, many know
that United Kingdom had a great influence to the United States and the rest of the world due to
their long history. United Kingdom known as Britain is well known for conquering multiple
colonies and ruling them for long period of times.
United Kingdom s history of dominance over ruling empires goes back to 19th century, when an
act of union created United Kingdom on January 1st, 1801. This act was joined by England,
Scotland and Wales, all of Great Britain along with Ireland. It was stated that Catholics were still

20th century was a progress and decline time for the United Kingdom. It was during this time that
many improvements changed the life of everyday in the UK. In 1902 Education bill was passed that
abolished the school boards and gave free education to the children. Children were getting more
education than before, when they had to work long hours instead. Women got the right to vote in
elections in 1918 but were on the same voting terms as men in 1928. Late 19th century Britain main
industries were coal, iron/steel, engineering and clothing. But these declined into early 20th century
and moved into specialized manufacturing, and service industries. The invention of washing
machines and other appliances made women jobs easier. Women were given equal rights with the
passing of Sex Discrimination act in 1975.

The Pre-Confederation Period and the Confederation Period
Canada is a constitutional monarchy and a liberal democracy. As a member of G 8 it is one of the
most industrialized nations in the world and holds a very important position in reference to the
world economy.
Territorially Canada was not always the same. It went through changes to evolve in the form it is
today. The Canada of today was earlier in the form of various British colonies. The region was not
united and they joined hand with the passage of time. The history of Canada can be divided
roughly into two factions: the pre confederation period and the confederation period.
The pre confederation period is the period prior to the unification of Canada. Before the advent
of Europeans, Canada had no single unified government or administration. The only kind of
politics was the treaties signed among the regions or tribes. At the same time, the local leaders
or head of the tribes were the only form of government known to the people. Canada turned into
a series of colonies with the arrival of the Europeans. Various regions were colonized by different
nations of Europe like Britain, France and even Spain. All the colonies which form Canada were
once a part of New France. The British acquired those colonies by the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713 and
by the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
The Canada, as we know today, took its shape in 1867 with the signing of the British North America
Act. This Act created a single unified administration for the whole region. The regional interests

Socrates s Influence On European Culture
Although Socrates never wrote even one book in his life, his thinking and ideas produce an
important impact on European culture. Socrates has always been seen as a saint who died because
pursuit for truth. He claims that he is a sort of gadfly, given to the state by the God, and proud of
it. Eventually, he was charged by Athenian democrats with corrupt the Athenian youth and other
charges, and died by drinking poison in 339BC. In the trial, Socrates refused to intercede for
himself. His words which he speaks in the court, record by his student, Plato. Then we know that he

The unexamined life is not worth living, the individual, special, and unique personality and life,
and the realization of the value of life can only create based on self examination. Also, if we want to

What is the unexamined life? In my opinion, the life which is following the crowd, simply copying
other s lives, and only pursues the material enjoyment, is the unexamined life. However, the life
like this is seemed to be the most common life. In this world, the vast majorities of human beings
has a similar or same course of life go to school, go to work, get marriage, have children and so on.

Cell Phones And Health Risks
During my recent searches on this particular subject, I across interesting studies regarding cell
phones and health risks. Cell phones have changed drastically from 20 years ago to present.
When phones first came out they were only in our homes, I recall when I was younger we would
go places and wouldn t have a cell phone to call or text, to let your family know your location,
unlike today. In the early 90 s, the bag phone was introduced to the public. These phones were a
big deal when they first came out, you would plug them into your cigarette lighter. When you
would call someone it took a bit for it to go through but once the call went through you could
hear someone on the other line. When you got done with the call you would hang up and once
you got home you would zip the phone up and carry it inside. As a kid, this was very interesting.
The cordless cell phones were quickly developed. If you had a cordless cell phone you were
cool. When the cell phones first came out, your options were limited. At the time talking was the
only option available, more options were available; text, check email, and facebook. The more
technology rise; the more you can do on your phones, from skype to google and even ask your
phone questions and it will answer back. When I did recent research I found that the studies have
become more about what the cell phones are doing to people and their health. In this essay you will
learn that throughout history, Scientists have done studies to find that

Benefits Of Tryouts
For hundreds of years sports have been used as a way for kids and adults to cope with stress but
now with all these talented players it s no longer fair for the talented players to play with the
terrible players so in order to keep the talented players happy they created tryouts. Tryouts are a
kind of physical test that are used to determine what players are talented and deserve a spot on
the team and what players aren t very good and shouldn t be playing with good players. Tryouts
are beneficial for both players and schools because it allows poor schools to play and it reduces
the number of players and therefore helps develop gifted players. Tryouts cut down moneyby letting
those who are good stay making it better for games that are very costly such as football. This is
why many believe that sports are beneficial because they don t put poorer schools in debt, also it
doesn t make schools have to pay to get the materials needed, and finally they make it fair for the
good players by giving them more playing time.
My first reason why I believe tryouts are beneficial is because they don t put poor schools in debt

Introduction
This Flyer is based on WWII, and the Ten Boom family. Corrie Ten Boom is one of the family
members. Her family and her, helped many people in WWII, and risked their lives to save other

A Formal Testing Strategy Is Crucial For Achieving Success...
A formal testing strategy is crucial for achieving success with mobile app testing. The
information above will definitely guide you in understanding the key focus points of this
strategy, but here s a closer look at the steps you should take. Narrow down the devices the app
will use Mobile devices present the most obvious challenge to mobile testing. There are
countless devices out there consumers could use to access your app and ensuring your app
works on all of them can be difficult. Even though your app might run on a single platform (such
as iOS or Android), the number of devices will still be high for guaranteeing specific device
testing. This is especially the case with Android operating systems. Remember that there are
different versions of an operating system and you should decide which operating system
versions the app is supposed to work on. In order to handle the device challenge, you can
consider using one of the three strategies: Only test using real devices Only test using emulated
devices Using a combination of the above As we ve mentioned before, you want the emphasis to
be on real devices and manual testing. It would be a good idea to focus first on some of the main
devices in your category. For example, find out the most sold and used mobile devices that use
Android, check which operating system version is currently popular and begin testing. For the
devices, which are not as popular, you can use emulated devices as the main testing method.

Food Allergies And Food Intolerances
Do you remember your days of trying to fit into the typical student stereotype during school just
to be accepted by your classmates? Now imagine yourself with a life threatening condition that
must be treated immediately and left untreated could lead to death within a matter of minutes.
Children with food allergies are constantly at risk for a life threatening reaction. Food allergies
are caused by abnormal immunological responses to a food, whereas food intolerances have a
non immunological basis (Begen). Food allergies and intolerances are classified as a food
hypersensitivity where individuals who suffer reproducible, objective symptoms whenever they eat
a particular food (Begen). The symptoms of food allergies and intolerances differ by their severity.
Food allergysymptoms include: anaphylaxis, digestive problems, hives, rashes, and swollen
airways to the point of not being able to breathe. Food intolerance symptoms are generally
delayed, in comparison to food allergies, and include the following: diarrhea, indigestion, nausea,
vomiting, cramping and pain in the abdomen. Food allergies can affect a person s everyday life,
more than you can think. Besides the physical aspect, there is a social aspect to having a food allergy

A Joint Venture With Pernod Ricard
The Republic of Poland, also known by its shortened name of Poland, has strong ties to the
United States. America has been a very powerful ally to Poland for many years. The spirits sector
of Poland s alcohol market is quickly growing with the vodka segment as one of the country s
largest sources of income. As a lucrative business already established in the US and attempting to

spirits company with operations here in America and abroad in Poland. Through an in depth look
at Poland s spirits market we will provide support for why we are choosing to enter Poland

What Are Iago s Evil Deeds
In Shakespeare s tragedy Othello, the antagonist Iago serves as a wicked puppeteer, manipulating
the strings of each involved character. His spite and cruelty leads to the tragic downfall of not
Othello, Desdamona, Rodrigo, and himself. He looked down on others, especially women, and
shaped himself into a cloaked figure who pulled strings for his own gain. Iagoproves that when ill
will and means to spread it come into contact, misery will follow. Iago is a spiteful, manipulative,
and cunning tactician who nearly found a means to reach an end that suited him. He sounds like a
monster, yet Iago may be the most human of all the characters. Iago s spite opens a Pandora s
Chest brimming with the world s evils; if we look back to the beginning of the play, his motives
were to punish Othellofor awarding the position of lieutenant to Michael Cassioand not himself. We
can prove this with a quote, told in a malicious tone: I have already chose my officer. And what
was he? ...Michael Cassio... that never set a squadron in the field, nor the division of battle knows...

own misguided conclusions. I told him what I thought, and told no more than what he himself

time was stabbing Cassio; had he not done so, there would be little to charge him with. He told
Othello truths and opinions, yet no lies left his lips. Iago s dastardly plan nearly

Why A Schedule Is Important
The most important thing to keep in mind when trying to decide to further your education online
is time management, if you will have a good support system and if you will have the self

that will pay off in the future, but if you cannot manage your time or have people supporting you it
will be difficult to get any schoolwork completed.
Before signing up you should think about your daily routine and see if you will be able to have
enough time to be able to do homework and study. Having a schedule is very important because
that is the only way you can see how organized you are and what changes can or need to be done
so that you can have time for school. When I first started school I did not set up a schedule and

He Was White, I Was Black Essay
Although I can articulate it better now, I knew when I was ten years old why Carrot Wilkins
and I would not always be as close as we were then. He was white, and I was black. I lived on the
outskirts of Winston Salem, North Carolina in a predominately black neighborhood. Carrot lived
about a fifteen minutes walk away in a largely white rural town called Walkertown. We met in the
third grade on a school bus that took us both to Thomas Cash Elementary School. Being country
boys at heart, we shareda lot of interests. We fished together a lot hunted squirrels, and played
Robin Hood in the woods that separated our neighborhoods. But like kittens and puppies, we were

They were smart, strong, handsome, and noble. And, until this incident, imagining that I was one of
them had given me the feeling that I could do just about anything.
I did come up with an answer to Carrot s Aqua Man. I decided I would be Magic Johnson. This,
of course, met with immediate protest because Magic Johnson was not a superhero. Carrot
demanded that I choose a real superhero. I decided I didn t want to play the game anymore, that I
would never play the game again. We both went home, angry. Carrot didn t understand why, after I
had played the game dozens of times with no problem, I had decided that I would never play again.
And neither one of us understood why the people who created the superheroes made them all white.
The only thing I knew was that Carrot would be able to continue pretending he was a superhero,
but I never could again.
Today, I am able to articulate the difference I perceived between myself and Carrot. That
difference was based on the luxury of unlimited aspirations. This luxury allows a white child in
America to believe that this is his land. And in his land he is taught that limitations are set only by
his own work ethic. If he gives life his best shot, the system that distributes the spoils of life will
reward him. This is called the American Dream.

Examples Of Conch In Lord Of The Flies
In the popular television game show Survivor contestants are staged on a deserted island where
they must survive within their tribe. If anything happens to the contestants while they are there,
the producers or medical professionals are there quickly with easy ways out. However, in
William Golding s Lord of the Flies a group of schoolboys are stranded during a World War II era
plane crash. They are forced to hunt and survive by themselves without any adults. They set up a
form of democracy and elect one of the older boys, Ralph, their leader. To call an assembly of all
the boys, Ralph blows into a conch and they come running to hear what Ralph has to talk about.
In Lord of the Flies the conch symbolizes authority and respect in the beginning, becomes
comfort, and concludes as a sign of civility. Authority and respect are both traits of the conch. In
the boys first meeting, Ralph, lifted the conch (Golding 22). The boys then voted and one called
out, Him with the shell, meaning Ralph was their vote to be chief and everyone
followed(Golding 22). This moment in the novel was before there was any dialogue between
each other or any information or personality traits were known about the other boys such as
Ralph. However, they point out the object he is holding, the conch shell, as justification of his
leadership. This even provokes them to pick the stranger Ralph over Jack, who is already known as
the leader of the boys choir. Further in the book, Jack goes off on a

Patriarchal Relations Between The Patriarchy And The Mode...
Patriarchal structures that have played a profound role in shaping the economy throughout history
remain systemic to the organisation of today s economic capitalism. Maria Mies work, Patriarchy
and Accumulation on a World Scale, looks at the role of the patriarchy in maintaining social
relations of production that is conducive to capitalistic ideals. This notion remains relevant and
potent in today s society. Remnants of patriarchal relations fundamentally enable the extent of class,
exploitation, agency and power that drives this capitalist economy. While man woman relations are
conducive the process of capital accumulation, they are not mutually indispensible. That is, there is
no infinite or explicit relationship between labour wage gender inequality under capitalism.
However, it is the inability to disaffirm the prevalence of gendered norms that define women s
place in society enables the patriarchy to work in favour of capitalism and vice versa. The
interdependence between the patriarchy and the mode of production will be analysed in this essay
through three principle premises. The starting point will look at the social organisation of
hierarchical sexual relations based on biological natures. This will be the foundational and
underlying basis in which the patriarchy subliminally persists and reaffirms itself to influence
capitalist societies. Further on, it will look at the ways in which male female relations that have
persisted from precapitalist times continue to

Gender inequality has been a dominant and consistent struggle of human culture since its existence.
To this day, women constantly face oppression, unjust treatment, and less opportunities. For
centuries, women have played inferior roles compared to men, especially in marriage. When a man

revolutionaries demanded change in the treatment of females. Since genderequality has become
accepted as necessary, women have enjoyed much more rights and freedoms as those given to men
though some may argue their opportunities are not exactly as equal compared to men. Many authors

Proposed Bill Legislation For A Reform Of The Current...
PART A
The Succession (Scotland) Bill passed stage 3 of the parliamentary process on 29 January 2016 and
will be brought into force at a future date. Critically evaluate the extent to which the provisions in
the bill relating to survivorship and forfeiture represent an improvement to the current legal position.
The Succession (Scotland) Bill is currently in the process of being processed in order to alter the
current position of Statute in the Succession (Scotland) Act 1964 and also Trusts (Scotland) Act
1921. The alterations being made are currently disputed as to whether they will create
improvements for the functionality of the law of trusts and successions or that they will cause more
problems for the courts in passing judgements. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bill introduces a very drastic change to the aforementioned provisions in Section 31 as it
states that despite the circumstances when the presumption of order of death is uncertain then
neither of the parties are to be presumed to have survived the other, ergo diminishing the current
legal stance relating to the general rule that the younger of the parties is presumed to have
survived the elder. However this change has the ability to give rights to beneficiaries in both wills
rather than vesting in the younger of the two deceased persons. For example if an unmarried
couple die and leave wills to each other whom failing their two children then by applying the
proposed rule in the bill then both children will receive from the will rather than the younger of the
deceased.
The idea of the provisions set out in the Succession (Scotland) Act 1964 were to help benefit the
younger person who is presumed to have predeceased the elder so that the possible whom failing
clause can be met rather than the estate falling into partial intestacy. A case which illustrates this
outcome well is the Ross s Judicial Factor v Martin when both died and the common law rule was
applied it was determined that neither would have survived the other. This therefor caused both of
the estates to be treated as

Analysis Of In Bruges And The Crying Game
In Martin McDonagh s In Bruges and Neil Jordan s The Crying Game, the concept of guilt and
flight are explored. The purpose of this essay is to explore these concepts and the life choices each
of the main characters make that ultimately lead to moral dilemmas. This essay will also explore
supplementary themes such as conflict, redemption and forgiveness.
In Bruges follows two Irish hitmen, Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken Daley (Brendan Gleeson). After a
completely botched job they performed in London, they are ordered by their boss, Harry Waters
(Ralph Fiennes) to hide out in Bruges and wait for further instructions. Although Ken is fascinated
by the city s architecture and history, Ray has nothing but disdain for it and wishes to return to
London. Could this be his punishment for a job gone awry? MC
Throughout the film In Bruges, we follow Ray and his emotional journey of guilt and conflict. He
chooses the career of a professional hitman and as a result, there should be no emotional
attachments associated in that decision. It s simply business. Or is it? His profession eventually
leads him to an unforeseen and unfortunate incident. But is it realistic for Ray to feel remorse?
After all, it was his choice to become a hitman to begin with.
While in London, Ray was ordered to kill a priest. For Ray, this never seemed to be an issue and
he never really questions the reason why. He assumes if he was ordered to kill a priest, he must
have done something depraved. As a result of carrying out his orders, he accidentally kills a
young boy. MC It is evident that Ray is overwhelmed by his actions and all of this plays out in the
film when he flees to Bruges.
As the story progresses, we discover that Ray is more than just a cold hearted hitman. He is a
man who is suffering. This is displayed throughout the film as he exhibits some strange and at
times, irrational behavior. He doesn t attempt to justify his actions, instead he plunges into a state
of depression and conflict. He s dead because of me. And I m trying to... been trying to get me
head around it, but I can t. I will have always have killed that little boy. That ain t ever going away.
Ever. Unless... maybe I go away. MC
Ray is left with a choice. He can continue to

measuring them in various experiments. All of the students tested their reactions by using many
different experiments such as catching a ruler without moving your arm, hitting a student under the
knee, how long it takes them to complete a puzzle, the ping pong reflex test, and the pupil
response. For the ruler experiment one student placed their hand on the ledge of a table while the
other dropped the ruler, wherever the student caught it depends on how good their reflexes are. The

To complete the ping pong reflex one student would lightly throw a ping pong at the other and they
will observe their reaction to it. Finally the pupil response reflex was completed by having one
student close their eyes for 30 seconds and then the other student would see how their eye changed.
Introduction: Reflexes are actions that occur after a response without having to think about doing it.
Reflexes are very important to have because they keep us aware of what is happening. For
example if you touch a hot stove your body is telling you that its hot which would then help
prevent you from burning. A reflex arc is a neural pathway that commands a reflex action.
Reflex arcs tell our body to use our reflexes and are very important to us. While completing all of
the experiments in lab our body used reflexes and everyone s reaction time varied.
Hypothesis: If my reaction time to all of the experiments are high then that means I have good
reflexes?

1. What is the difference between a reflex arc and a nonreflex arc? In a reflex arc, a sensory
neuron transfers impulses from the skin and then brings

The World of Commercial Art and the International Art Market
The World of Commercial Art and the International Art Market
The main aims of this research are to acquire an understanding of the conditions of the art market
and to develop a critical knowledge of the commercial art world and the relevant international
market.
The idea that the international art market is a regulator in the post academy art world has
implications on the formation of prices and values in the art market, due to the macroeconomic
reality, political and cultural changes of this period.
Throughout the nineteenth century, the AcadГ©mie des BeauxArts continued to produce many
important artists. It lost its power only at the turn of the century when it failed to acknowledge

The international art market is based upon individual players whose motives are ultimately the
maximisation of art.
In this way, the market developed into the international scope due to the proliferation of the figures
of dealers and auction houses, whose international work in Holland, England, France and Italy
became recognised in nineteenth century.
Hence, Academic art, serving as a bridge period between the Baroque and Early Modern era, was
essential the comprehension of new ideas about art and its periodisation, the extension of subject
matter and development of technique, and the new interaction of public and patrons with artists.
Many of the characteristics of nineteenth century Academic Art small scale, storytelling, realism
and high finish reflected changes in the art market. The political and cultural authority of church,
government and aristocracy, the industrial revolution and emergence of a large commercial middle
class, along with an unprecedented expansion of living space, stimulated an increase in the demand
for decorations and art.
There were fewer large scale commissions and artists sought to appeal to a new group of patrons:
wealthy, middle class art lovers. These new collectors acquired art for personal enjoyment, to
decorate their homes, and to demonstrate their cultured sophistication.
The nineteenth century is the century that

soldiers, discuss the importance of war dolls on education, and access the dialogue surrounding the
psychological effects of war and play. In so doing, I hope to paint a broad understanding of the
significance of dolls, specifically toy soldiers, in terms of war commemoration and their impact on
society.

These small figurines, standing at 2 Вј inches tall, represent uniformed personnel and combatants
and convey a vast history of battle. They exemplify major battles and even provide other fighters
like Samurais. The extensive collections of stand alone characters and boxed sets, along with
landscape scenery, allow children and collectors to recreate entire battle scenes. Thus, not only do
children play with the figurines, they also learn intensive history about various wars through this
interaction. The manufacturing of toy soldiers continued to increase, and in the United States, lead
and plastic soldiers were so widely available, [that] many baby boomers grew up collecting both.
Though they suffered a minor setback due to growing anti war sentiment in America during the
Vietnam War, many children of the 1960s reminisced as adults about their collections, only to find
out their parents sold their figurines. This led to a resurgence in the popularity of toy soldiers.
Furthermore, the cheap availability of plastic allows for toy soldier production at increasingly
exceptional rates. Additionally, the Internet allows for further expansion of the toy soldier as
websites allow for like minded collectors to come together to discover information about toy

Cloning Ethical And Moral Dilemma
Cloning an Ethical and Moral Dilemma
Scott Blakley Jr.

1 December 2014
Cloning an Ethical and Moral Dilemma Science has been plagued with the limits of ethics and
morals of the people that fail to see the bigger picture that research can help to bring great things to
the world. Cloning is one of the major fields that are affected by closed minded beliefs and laws
that prohibit research. Should the search for finding medicine that could save lives and the
chance for people to have healthy offspring be denied because of the misconceptions of different
generations? Cloning should be allowed because of the medical benefits that it provides, the
only way that it can become more ethical is with research to find the best techniques, and yet
none of this is possible because of the laws that restrict the research. Cloning is an ethical and
moral dilemma as it pertains to how we view not only the lives of people but in fact what we can
and cannot do with our own bodies. Many see cloning as people trying to play god with others
lives. This comes from the creation of life and then the use of the life that was created. Similar to
abortion we have to define the meaning of what it means to be a person and whether or not they
should be considered equal. Some may say yes declaring that a person is equal to another because
we are both human. This has not been the case though for a great deal of people. Examples of this
are wide and varied from

Thelma And Louise Analysis Essay
The film that I am choosing for this gender performances on film response is Thelma and Louise
starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. Th film came out in 1991 and is about House wife,
Thelma, and waitress, Louise when they go on a trip to the mountains that goes wrong when a
man tries to rape Thelma. After which Louise shoots and kills him, they then take off and plan to
go to Mexico because they are running from the law. This film was the site of controversy when it
was released because it made some men a little uncomfortable, but even with that the film was
nominated for six Academy Awards and it won one of them. Now it is considered an important and
classic film. In this movie we have two main characters, Thelma and Louise, and even though they
are both women, there is still a lot of genderbiasin the film. One of the first examples in the film is
when Louise talks to Thelma about the trip over the phone and Thelma tells her that she hasn t
asked Darryl, Christopher McDonald, about the trip yet. After this conversation she yells at Darryl
to tell him if he doesn t hurry he will be late, to which he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A little while later Thelma begins to dance with Harlan, and she is getting more and more drunk,
after the dancing Harlan takes her outside for fresh air after she gets sick he tries to rape her
saying they are just going to have fun and that he won t hurt her. When she yells at him and then
slaps him that is when things get a lot worse, he slams her on the car hood face down and he gets
ready to rape her. This male dominance quality, not the rape, is a gender bias that occurs in many
films and it is one thing that truly separates men from women in

Symptoms And Treatment Of Dr. Chang, The Surgeon
As a youth, I recall experiencing a great deal of pain in my lower right abdomen. The pain was
so excruciating that any movement, no matter how slight would leave me incapacitated. Sleep
was the best remedy and I took advantage of it whenever I could. My mother, a single parent to
my brother, sister, and I took care of me the best way that she knew how, until one day my
condition worsened. I was so weak that I could barely open my eyes. My mother decided that I
needed help and rushed me to the hospital. She was informed that I had appendicitis and that I
needed emergency surgeryor I would soon die. She gave her consent and I was prepped and rushed
into the operating room. I don t remember much after the surgery, but what I do remember is Dr.
Chang, the surgeon that performed the procedure, entering my room only to be nearly tackled to
the ground and hugged by my mother who could barely contain her gratitude. She began to cry
and thanked him for saving my life. In witnessing that moment, I decided that I wanted to be just
like Dr. Chang when I grew up. Though I was very young at the time, my mind was made up, I
was going to become a physician!
In the years following my near death experience, my exposure to the medical field was limited to
yearly physicals and the occasional flu shot. As a youth, we did not have a family doctor so I was
exposed to a variety of different physicians at the clinic that we frequented. I soon began to notice
that none of the physicians ever

Old Spice Rhetorical Analysis
Old Spice s Changes in Rhetoric Use Throughout the Ages The company of Old Spice is most
commonly known for selling body wash and other men s products. The Old Spice brand was
started by the Shulton Company in 1937 and it s original target audience was women, but later
changed it to men s goods as the sales were larger there. The company continues to sell men s
products to this day. The company started advertising to sailors and hard working men at the start
of it s creation. However the company has continued to change its marketing techniques throughout
the years. The company used a lot of ethos in advertisements during the 1950 s. The advertisements
of the 1950 s depicted that when you use Old Spiceyou feel better. The ads showed men... Show

Some ads also use similes, metaphors, personification, and onomatopoeia. The new ads show how
men should use Old Spice by making crazy commercials while showing strong famous men. They
also try to get women to buy Old Spice for their man by showing a hot man using the product and
what their man could be like if he used Old Spice. Both these techniques like showing men doing
crazy things like some men do and target the emotion in ladies to try and get their men more like
the guy in the commercial have shown to increase sales. The most famous old Spice ad was the,
The Man Your Man Could Smell Like and this ad showcased the stunning Isaiah Mustafa or
commonly known as the Old Spice Man. In the commercial he is shown on a boat with
diamonds or on a horse on an island. The actor states that if her man wore Old Spice he would be
just like him, which was a form of logos. The pathos used against men is that men do crazy things
and wearing Old Spice is for men who do crazy things. The pathos against women is that women
want a civilized hot romantic man and the ads show that if they buy Old Spice for their man, he
will be just that. The ethos was the company using hot and famous models to portray what their
products does.
The Old Spice company has used different rhetorical approaches throughout the years to influence
people to buy their products. In the 1950 s they stated it made you feel better, 1970 s said it made
you a man, and

Americanization Is Tough on Macho There are different countries and cultures in the world.
Sometimes when Americans view other cultures values the actual truth becomes distorted. In her
article Americanization is tough on the Macho, Rose Del Castillo Guilbault examines the concept
of macho from both the Hispanics and Americans perspective. The Hispanic view of macho
embodies a man described by Guilbault as manly, responsible, hardworking, a patriarch and a
person who expresses strength through silence. She describes her father as a man who handled
most menial task with pride. In a patriarchal society such as Mexico, the man is regarded as the

The Definition Of Abortion In The United States
The definition of abortion from google is the the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy,
most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is when a mother chooses
to take the life of her unborn child because either they do not want to have a baby, or they are
pregnant as a result of rape. Having an abortionis wrong because it kills an unborn baby. In 1973,
the US Supreme Court made abortions legal. Since then, there have been over fifty five million
reported abortions performed in the United States. In 2008, it was estimated that there are about
1.2 million abortions performed each year. People who are pro abortion or pro choice, say that it is

College Scorecard Case Study
In a push for education equality and against exploitation by for profit colleges, the Obama
administration has unveiled a College Scorecard highlighting schools with the biggest bang for
your buck.
The end product of a two year investigation of 7,000 institutions of higher education, the College
Scorecard differs from other university ranking systems by comparing college costs to graduation
rates, loan repayment rates, and average post graduate salaries. The resulting college search engine
tool, available at collegescorecard.ed.gov, encourages recipients of Pell grants and student loans to
apply to schools with high graduation rates and post graduate salaries.
The Obama administration is also sharing the data it found with major college ... Show more content

One of the purposes of College Scorecard is to make prospective students as business minded as
these colleges: if schools only care about their bottom line, then students deserve to be able to use
the same logic, choosing a school based on how likely they are to graduate from it and find a well
paid job, based on how much they have to pay for it.
Obama s Dream, Partially Realized
Obama first announced this plan two years ago. But back then, it was more ambitious: not only
would it rank all 7,000 schools based on their worth from a student perspective, but it would even
penalize high cost, low reward universities and for profit colleges by restricting their access to Pell
grants and Federal student loans, shifting these benefits to more worth it schools. The idea was that
taxpayers should not be subsidizing tuition that profits institutions more than students.
The idea garnered scathing criticism. Much of it came from presidents of the very high cost
universities and for profit schools who would have been penalized by the program. They paid to
lobby against the plan and save their backs. They seem to have

Family In Richard Wright s Black Boy
In Richard Wright s Black Boy, Richard subconsciously wants to move as far from his family as
possible. For example, when his life takes a very fortunate turn, Richard encounters Mrs. Moss.
When Richard first meets Mrs. Moss, he says, I had met the warmest, friendliest person I had ever
known, that I discovered that all human beings were not...like the members of my family(Wright

After conversing with Mrs. Moss and her daughter, Richard finds that he is suffused with

occasion). As Wright recalls an uncle s words, He needs more flesh on him, [Uncle Edward]

Their Eyes Were Watching God Freedom Quotes
First Examination: Working Through Self Recognition to Liberation The only way to deal with
an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion, is a
quote written by Albert Camus, which displays the complexity of defining the term freedom.
Jean Paul Sartre s play The Flies, defines the concept of freedom as the accountability of one s
own guilt, which allows individuals to recognize their own freedom. Furthermore, an individual
that accepts accountability for one s own guilt and responsibility for the city, or complete
isolation, is living in freedom. Likewise, Zora Neal Hurston s novel Their Eyes Were Watching
God explores the notion of being or becoming absolutely free, finding her voice,... Show more

Both of these demands allow their protagonist to experience liberating moments, but the exercise
and continual application of using your voice is what allows Janie to transcend self recognition
or liberating moments, and become liberated. Hurston s definition of freedom is the recognition
of self illustrated through Janie s developing voice. While exploring Janie s three marriages you
can see the stages in her life where her voice was silenced, liberated, and then empowered. By the
end of the novel Janie is encouraged to continue growing in her liberation and developing her
voice. Hurston brings Janie freedom by using true love. Janie s love for Tea Cake, her third
husband, and his love for her allowed Janie to experience an awakening of her self
consciousness. Tea Cake encouraged her to speak her mind, the Muck town allowed her to be
free; it was there that Jamie became free from the societal customs that often oppressed her.
When Tea Cake died she decided to return home; Janie s homecoming showed the reader that she
was able to return home with a self conscious awakening, pass on the wisdom she gained to
Pheoby, and display her confidence in speaking when she wanted to. She did not feel the need to
explain herself if she did not want to because she was confident in

The Importance Of Street Culture In El Barrio
There is an area in NYC named El Barrio within El Barrio there is a large group of working class
Puerto Rican residents living their lives but struggling with facing street cultural and their ethnic
background. Living in harsh situations put a toll on the residents that were trying to live and make
it out. In El Barrio, street culture is clustered and influential and is challenging for them to continue
the traditional Puerto Rican culture. In this paper, I agree that street culture has a significant impact
on the resident than their traditional Puerto Rican culture, I demonstrate by looking at their jobs,
relationships, drug usage. Also, looking at substantial, significant residents Primo for a male
aspect, Candy for a female perspective, but connect to the whole community in El Barrio. I believe
this is significant because these are the three main topics that was brought up also the two main
voices for each gender, which helps the reader read about the unique way street culture had started
to have more of an influence of tradition.
Jobs had a significant factor on the residents in El Barrio and is profoundly affected by the street
culture. First, the traditional way Puerto Ricans found jobs were in the nearby factories. It was a
trade that they learned, and they stayed at for years many never left. Even though working
conditions were not high and most worked as assembly line work they stayed with it. There were
benefits to working for decent pay, overtime. It was common

Analysis Of Coronation Of The Virgin By Gengtile Da Fabriano
Once gracing the lavish floor of Getty Center, the Coronation of the Virgin which was painted by
the extraordinary Italian artist Gentile da Fabriano in 1420, attracted many attentions by its
sacredness, powerfulness and magic of the Christ. At 36 в…ќ inches and 25 Вј inches size tempera,
Christ gently places the ornate gold grown upon Virgin Marys slightly bowed head by the watching
of angels from either side as she becomes the Queen of Heaven. Since the first century, Christianity
has played an important role in Western Art, which has inspired numerous artists in making their
masterpieces. However, artists must follow the religious rules to build up the imagery of the Christ,
and educate audience about the religious. Coronation of the Virgin by Fabriano is a perfect
presentation of that.
Gorgeously. Striking. Grace. The golden painting is taking up by the two most iconic symbols of
Christianity: Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. Christ gently placing a golden grown on the inclined
head of the Virgin Mary, who is sitting on the right side of Jesus; her hands crossed over her
chest symbolist of humble, reverent and loyalty. This position was purposely set by Fabriano. In
Christianity art, position is significant in dividing between good manners and malefactors. For
instance, in The Last Judgment by Giotto di Bondone in 1305, heaven was placed on right of
Christ, and hell was on the left. This ideology was clearly stated in the bible ...before him shall be

There are different levels of income and consumption in the different areas of China.
Dissimilarities in education, consumption, power, personal habits and tastes lead many
multinational companies to view China as one nation, but certainly not one national market.
While overseas companies focus on the premium market, China s domestic consumer goods
companies compete in principal for middle and low income consumers. Also, the new labor law
introduced in January 2008 has improved labor protection and wage regulations, but most
importantly it has raised China s factory labor cost substantially causing foreign investors in labor
intensive, low margin industries to reconsider their Chinese establishments. China made products
are also put under scrutiny with respect to quality, hygiene and safety problems. In a global
environment, which is driven by trade friction and financial insecurity, these problems may make
it even more politically difficult for China to net result a good year. Antidumping Law According
to China s anti dumping laws many imported products enter China at a price lower than their

enterprises. Labor laws (General Provision 4) 4 Employers shall establish and improve labor rules

World In 6 Glasses
A History of the World in 6 Glasses, is a book that explains what is happing in the world during

was defiantly wine. As I read the book I could always connect a section of every chapter back to
wine. Wine went through many changes, like the other beverages, but it stuck out to me for 3
main reasons. First off, the Capitol of Wine wasn t in the same place the whole time. For

  • 3. Hyperfunctional Voice Disorders Research Paper Outline Hyperfunctional Voice Disorders Hyperfunctional voice disorders are voice problems that happen when uncontrollable tightening (spasm) prevents the vocal cords from working properly. Vocal cords normally move back and forth to make sounds when air passes through the voice box (larynx). If you have a hyperfunctional voice disorder, the area of the brain that controls vocal cord movement does not send the right signals. This causes the vocal cords to spasm. Hyperfunctional voice disorders might also be referred to as muscle tension dysphonia. Sometimes the spasms force the vocal cords open when they should be closed. This makes you lose your voice. Sometimes the spasms cause the vocal cords to close too tightly. This makes your voice sound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DIAGNOSIS You may be diagnosed with a hyperfunctional voice disorder based on: Your symptoms. Your medical history. A physical exam to check your larynx and evaluate your speech. Procedures that are done to: в—‹ Examine your throat with a scope that has a tiny camera on the end (laryngoscope). The scope projects images onto a monitor (direct laryngoscopy). в—‹ Examine the movement of your vocal cords in the reflection of a mirror (indirect laryngoscopy). в—‹ Check the movement of your vocal cords in slow motion, using a special flickering light (laryngeal stroboscopy). в—‹ Test the electrical activity of your larynx muscles (electromyography or EMG). You may also see a health care provider who specializes in conditions of the ear, nose, and throat (otolaryngologist or ENT specialist) or conditions of the nervous system (neurologist). TREATMENT There is no cure for this condition. The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms and improve the quality of your voice. Treatment depends on the specific type of voice disorder you have, and may include: Injections of botulinum toxin to block the brain signals that cause your vocal cords to spasm. These injections need to be repeated because the effects last only 3 4 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cervical Spine In the article, Assessment of the Cervical Spine Range of Motion After the Use of the Saunders Traction Device in Different Positioning of the Upper Extremities, cervical spine complaints are seen to be increasing due in part to our society becoming more health aware.1 The pain begins with increased tension or stiffness in the muscles of the posterior neck, with varying levels of pain that begin to spread to other areas of the body over time. The positioning of the head towards protraction, pushing forward the shoulders, and an increase in spine inclination is the cause of the pain. If this pain goes untreated, range of motion of the area will decrease, resulting in an overload of other areas attempting to compensate for the injured site. These... The modified position yielded a higher statistical significance post procedure.1 From the observation of each patients pain levels both before and after each treatment, it was determined that the traditional position was more successful at reducing pain symptoms. Traditional positioning also created a higher level of comfort and allowed for a more forceful level of traction.1 The modified position gave patients painful and uncomfortable feelings that the traditional position was able to avoid. This discomfort is what caused the complaints of pain form patients that made it impossible to finish a session of traction. The force of traction was noted earlier by patients in the modified position, which leads researches to question if this position puts the muscles in a more injury prone position. The authors concluded that there is no difference in the effectiveness of differing positions of the arms while traction is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Example Of The Unsung Heros Some people view a hero as a man that saves a child from a burning building, or a man that stops the robber at the bank. Although they re not wrong a hero can be much more, most heros go unheard of and are not rewarded. On the other hand some heros do get noticed for their courageous acts and are rewarded with a medalor other objects that signified they have helped the world. The heros I want to show you are some of the unsung heros that did great things. I define a hero as being a self sacrificing, determined, and a brave ordinary person. Ever seen a hero sacrifice himself for others, if so this is probably a hero like John roberts who put his life on the line for the greater good. This section of hero usually results in the death of one man to save many. This example from Listverse.com about 1st Lieutenant John Robert in WW2 shows just that. Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and Prince look a like 1st Lieutenant John Robert Fox was directing artillery fire in the Italian town of Sommocolonia to stall a German advance. While Fox was directing fire, a large German force moved in on his position.Realising that this force was a huge threat to his men, Fox called a final artillery strike on himself. When his men eventually retook the position, Fox s body was found next to approximately 100 dead German troops and a medal was placed neatly on his chest. This is truly moving who knows if he didn t sacrifice himself it could have turned the tide for WW2. Some heros ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One article talks about Japanese architecture being used in the Glasgow School of Art, There are Japanese influences in the use and shape of the projecting timber eaves at the stairwells, left, and also in some of the internal details (ScotCities). At the time Charles was designing, there was a new movement: simplifying architecture, making it practical. This was the modernist movement. The modernist movement was used to create new technology. Charles liked this idea because it incorporated the past, present, and the future, instead of just focusing on history like other architects were doing. Mackintosh also inspired European architecture as a whole after his death. One article discusses Charles influence on Architecture, Although Mackintosh s architectural output was fairly small he had a considerable influence on European design. Especially popular in Austria and Germany, Mackintosh s work was highly acclaimed when it was shown at the Vienna Secession Exhibition in 1900 (Spartacus Educational). • 7. Computers Can Not Have Minds Alan Turing, father of modern computers, created the Turing Machine in order to prove, through the use of an imitation game, that computers can think. John Searle argued that the Turing Test is simply just imitating, rather than thinking. Based on Searle s argument against the Turing Test, I think that computers cannot have minds. Although Turing argues that computers can think, there are many arguments, such as Searle s Chinese room argument, and defenses that I will present that support Searle and his belief that computers do not understand the information they simulate and cannot think. As stated above, the purpose of the Turing Machine is to prove that computers can think. A Turing Machine is composed of a scanner with a tape made of paper running through it. This paper tape is divided into squares. Each square on the tape contains a symbol, either a 0 of a 1. The machine, along with two humans, will participate in an imitation game. Human A and the Turing Machine are hidden from view of Human B and have a conversation in order for Human B to try to determine which of the communicators is a robot, if either one is a robot. The machine s goal is to trick Human B into thinking it (the machine) is the human. Turing states that if the machine is successful, then the machine does have a mind. Turing s machine has the ability to answer any question presented to it, and Turing saw this ability as a sign of extreme intelligence. On the other hand, Searle argued that this ... She is an 18 year old high school student trying to make it out of the streets by using her academic achievements. Her mother had her at the age of fourteen and was a drop out. Being a homeless 18 year old she was accepted to numerous elite universities such as Brown, Columbia, Amherst, and Williams. School was the only thing Khadijah knew growing up in the streets and in shelters. School was her only home, away from being with the thugs, dealers, and prostitutes. She never doubted her capabilities to strive for success. Khadijah s academic achievements drove her away from her indigent social class to be a prestigious individual in society. Khadijah never got it easy, she had to work her way up to success. The article explains, She awoke at 4 a.m. and returned at 11 p.m., and kept her grade point average at jut below a 4.0 while participating in the Academic Decathlon, the debate team and leading the school s track and field team (Bermudez p.5). In marketing management there is a lack of communication between the two departments, marketing and sales. As learned in the chapter, the marketing department is responsible for developing a firm s marketing strategy. This strategy includes decisions on how to promote, distribute, and price the products (Stanton 45). The marketing department relies on the salespeople to determine the dependability. It is vital that the salespeople communicate the marketing strategy. If something is not selling, letting the marketing department know will allow them to make decisions and changes to the strategy. From depicting things such as struggling with disorders, problems with the boss, or average family life, most North American families are able to relate to the The Simpsons and that is why we keep crawling back each Sunday night. After learning they share many common interest, especially coming to food, Bart and Bashir become such good friends, Bart learns that Bashir is a muslim. Once word gets out that Homer s son has befriended a muslim, Homer s friends begin to spit stereotypes in Homer s face about muslims and the culture behind Islam. After long, persuasive conversations, half witted Homer decides to invite Bashir and his family to a dinner in an attempt to Assimilate them to American culture, this includes offering them Pork Back Ribs and a large american flag cake that Homer later states is Poisonous. Rather than admitting her true feelings, Rosina gives her consent for the alliance in order to please her father due to her fear of him, exemplifying that her diffident personality in the novel leads to the tenuous bonds between them both. Until then, as I say, you are to remain outdoors: I have given orders to ensure that you do. Disobey me in this, and you will be confined to your room (135 136). Thomas s ascendancy over his daughter s decisions is evident as he is very strict and intimidating, Rosina must obey commands in order to live with him or else there are bound to be dire consequences. Instead of fighting for her rights and freedom, Rosina feebly agrees to her father s instructions, thus reinforcing the one sided relationship between both father and daughter. Moving on, Georgina and Dr. Straker s bond also begins to diminish as Dr. Straker s dominance over Georgina s confinement at Tregannon Asylum eventually leads to the loss of control over her decisions. Often, blandly protesting grievances or concerns can fall upon deaf ears and change can be slow or non existent. However some social commentators, such as Jonathan Swiftin his pamphlet A Modest Proposal, use clever, targeted, and ironic criticism to bring the social state of Ireland to the attention of indolent aristocrats. He accomplishes such criticism through satire, specifically Juvenanlian satire. Such irony exists even in the title: A Modest Proposal. Upon reading the text, the audience can agree that Swift s proposal is far from modest and such irony servers to enrage and puzzle the readers to the point that they question why he would be using such shifting, ironic diction. Swift s use of absurd logic to his proposal supplements the effectiveness of verbal irony, since no one would believe that children should be eaten to improve in the art of making good bacon . The aforementioned examples illustrate Swift s craftiness and the use irony to almost mock the audience. In true Juveliean fashion, such techniques are designed to arouse the reader to anger and suspicion of what is trying to be said. A satire based on the Horatian type wouldn t use such blatantly offensive irony. Rather, the tone of voice would be gentler, more good humored and sympathetic ( Horatian Satire ). In contrast to such an authorial voice, Swift, through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Whale Done By Ken Blanchard The book, Whale Done, written by Ken Blanchard, exemplifies how a business manager named Wes Kinsley learns the key to managing relationships while on a trip to SeaWorld. Kinsley uncovers the secret to managing positive relationships with people by witnessing how trainers at SeaWorld receive incredible responses from their whales by highlighting their positive behaviour, and ignoring or redirecting their negative behaviours. In the book, Blanchard contrasts the GOTcha manager, one who seeks to only accentuate the negative properties of individuals actions with the WHALE DONE manager, who highlights and tries to reinforce positive behaviour. However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in communication. Negative responses are useful in order to keep workers inline and stopping them from breaking rules. It can be necessary in many situations; however, managers of today still abuse negative responses. There are examples of modern day managers using negative responses and finding success. For example, John Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League has found success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but he actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his teams success. (Cooper, 2015). He is often seen as a villain in the hockey community, but his success is clearly attributable to his negative responses and negative attitude. This tough relationship he has with his players must improve their play because he has been a coach on and off in the league since 2001. Blanchard s ideologies clearly go against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no denying his success. This style of management can be successful in some places, and modern managers have to understand when to apply this style. Clearly Blanchard s methods are successful, but so are ... How Pentecostalism Is One Of The Major Denomination Of... utumn Petrolina Hayes, Andrew Anthropology 130 22 February 2016 Pentecostalism Pentecostalism is one of the major denominations of Protestant Christianity that originated from the Holiness Revival of the 19th century. The Pentecostal Movement began in Topeka, Kansas at Bethel Bible College, established by Charles Parham who taught that speaking in tongues was a spiritual gift that demonstrated as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit, a distinct type of baptism experienced in chapter two of the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost. On January 1st of 1901, Agnes Ozman, a student at Bethel Bible School, was the first person to speak in tongues after being baptized with The Holy Spirit. This marks the beginning of the Pentecostal Revival. In 1905, Parham began preaching in Houston, Texas where he began a smaller bible school. According to Kevin Sack, a journalist for The New York Times, an African American pastor named William Seymour would attend Parham s services though he was made to sit outside the room and listen through a cracked door. Parham s teachings of baptism with the Holy Spirit enveloped Seymour, who took this new theology to Los Angeles in 1906 where he temporarily pastored a small African American Holiness Church. The church rejected Seymour s claims on tongues as proof of baptism with The Holy Spirit. The pastor of the church, Julia Hitchins, was outraged by Seymour s sermon and kicked him out of the church. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787, which related to the governing of the Old Northwest, came to grips with the problem of how a nation should deal with its colonial peoples. The solution afforded by the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was a compromise: momentary subordination then permanent equality. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 preserved the spirit of equality. This law granted that when sixty thousand people inhabited a territory, it would be admitted by Congress as a state, with all the privileges of the thirteen charter members (American Pageant, 174). Instead of keeping these new territories in permanent subordination, it promised equality in the future. As a member of G 8 it is one of the most industrialized nations in the world and holds a very important position in reference to the world economy. Territorially Canada was not always the same. It went through changes to evolve in the form it is today. The Canada of today was earlier in the form of various British colonies. The region was not united and they joined hand with the passage of time. The history of Canada can be divided roughly into two factions: the pre confederation period and the confederation period. The pre confederation period is the period prior to the unification of Canada. Before the advent of Europeans, Canada had no single unified government or administration. The only kind of politics was the treaties signed among the regions or tribes. At the same time, the local leaders or head of the tribes were the only form of government known to the people. Canada turned into a series of colonies with the arrival of the Europeans. Various regions were colonized by different nations of Europe like Britain, France and even Spain. All the colonies which form Canada were once a part of New France. The British acquired those colonies by the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713 and by the Treaty of Paris in 1763. In the early 90 s, the bag phone was introduced to the public. These phones were a big deal when they first came out, you would plug them into your cigarette lighter. When you would call someone it took a bit for it to go through but once the call went through you could hear someone on the other line. When you got done with the call you would hang up and once you got home you would zip the phone up and carry it inside. As a kid, this was very interesting. The cordless cell phones were quickly developed. If you had a cordless cell phone you were cool. When the cell phones first came out, your options were limited. At the time talking was the only option available, more options were available; text, check email, and facebook. The more technology rise; the more you can do on your phones, from skype to google and even ask your phone questions and it will answer back. Benefits Of Tryouts For hundreds of years sports have been used as a way for kids and adults to cope with stress but now with all these talented players it s no longer fair for the talented players to play with the terrible players so in order to keep the talented players happy they created tryouts. Tryouts are a kind of physical test that are used to determine what players are talented and deserve a spot on the team and what players aren t very good and shouldn t be playing with good players. Tryouts are beneficial for both players and schools because it allows poor schools to play and it reduces the number of players and therefore helps develop gifted players. Tryouts cut down moneyby letting those who are good stay making it better for games that are very costly such as football. This is why many believe that sports are beneficial because they don t put poorer schools in debt, also it doesn t make schools have to pay to get the materials needed, and finally they make it fair for the good players by giving them more playing time. Patriarchal structures that have played a profound role in shaping the economy throughout history remain systemic to the organisation of today s economic capitalism. This notion remains relevant and potent in today s society. Over the centuries of human existence, however, many feminists and progressive revolutionaries demanded change in the treatment of females. Since genderequality has become accepted as necessary, women have enjoyed much more rights and freedoms as those given to men though some may argue their opportunities are not exactly as equal compared to men. Contradictorily, Willy demands Linda to stop interrupting, as if the blame for the inadequate conversation is her fault. Right when she is optimistic, she is shot down by her rude and careless husband. Throughout the play, she is often denied to opportunity to express her emotions and comfort her husband. The Succession (Scotland) Bill is currently in the process of being processed in order to alter the current position of Statute in the Succession (Scotland) Act 1964 and also Trusts (Scotland) Act 1921. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bill introduces a very drastic change to the aforementioned provisions in Section 31 as it states that despite the circumstances when the presumption of order of death is uncertain then neither of the parties are to be presumed to have survived the other, ergo diminishing the current legal stance relating to the general rule that the younger of the parties is presumed to have survived the elder. However this change has the ability to give rights to beneficiaries in both wills rather than vesting in the younger of the two deceased persons. For example if an unmarried couple die and leave wills to each other whom failing their two children then by applying the proposed rule in the bill then both children will receive from the will rather than the younger of the deceased. The idea of the provisions set out in the Succession (Scotland) Act 1964 were to help benefit the younger person who is presumed to have predeceased the elder so that the possible whom failing clause can be met rather than the estate falling into partial intestacy. A case which illustrates this outcome well is the Ross s Judicial Factor v Martin when both died and the common law rule was applied it was determined that neither would have survived the other. • 37. Analysis Of In Bruges And The Crying Game In Martin McDonagh s In Bruges and Neil Jordan s The Crying Game, the concept of guilt and flight are explored. The purpose of this essay is to explore these concepts and the life choices each of the main characters make that ultimately lead to moral dilemmas. This essay will also explore supplementary themes such as conflict, redemption and forgiveness. In Bruges follows two Irish hitmen, Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken Daley (Brendan Gleeson). After a completely botched job they performed in London, they are ordered by their boss, Harry Waters (Ralph Fiennes) to hide out in Bruges and wait for further instructions. Although Ken is fascinated by the city s architecture and history, Ray has nothing but disdain for it and wishes to return to London. Could this be his punishment for a job gone awry? MC Throughout the film In Bruges, we follow Ray and his emotional journey of guilt and conflict. He chooses the career of a professional hitman and as a result, there should be no emotional attachments associated in that decision. It s simply business. Or is it? His profession eventually leads him to an unforeseen and unfortunate incident. But is it realistic for Ray to feel remorse? After all, it was his choice to become a hitman to begin with. While in London, Ray was ordered to kill a priest. For Ray, this never seemed to be an issue and he never really questions the reason why. He assumes if he was ordered to kill a priest, he must have done something depraved. As a result of carrying out his orders, he accidentally kills a young boy. MC It is evident that Ray is overwhelmed by his actions and all of this plays out in the film when he flees to Bruges. As the story progresses, we discover that Ray is more than just a cold hearted hitman. He is a man who is suffering. This is displayed throughout the film as he exhibits some strange and at times, irrational behavior. He doesn t attempt to justify his actions, instead he plunges into a state of depression and conflict. He s dead because of me. And I m trying to... been trying to get me head around it, but I can t.
