Surfing is now considered as one of the most thrilling sports in the world. But it has not always been the same, it has evolved for better over the years. Let's look at the history of surfing, surfboard design, and how it changed with time.

Surfing is a water sport where the surfer rides the forward face of a moving wave using a surfboard. It originated over 3,000 years ago in Polynesia, where fishermen would ride waves back to shore with their catch. The sport further developed in Hawaii, establishing the well-known Hawaiian style. In 1907, surfing was introduced to California by land baron Henry Huntington. Duke Kajanamoku was a famous Hawaiian surfer who helped popularize the sport. Key surfing accessories include surfboards in various types, wetsuits for cold water, and leashes to attach the board to the surfer's leg.
Longboards range from 36 to 60 inches and have larger, softer wheels than trick boards, providing a smoother ride. They use softer bushings or springs instead of bushings to allow for easier carving. Longboards can be used for travel or transport and come in different shapes like cruisers or hybrid boards. Their trucks are designed for sharper turns. Pintail shapes are useful for lifting the front of the board when riding off curbs. Longboarding originated in Hawaii in the late 1950s as surfers sought to replicate the feeling of surfing on land, and grew as a sport in California in the 1970s.
This document provides an overview of surfing including its history, culture, records, and parts of a surfboard. It discusses how surfing originated in ancient Polynesian culture and was later observed by Europeans in the 18th century. It also summarizes Bethany Hamilton's story of being attacked by a shark while surfing but returning to the sport just weeks later. The document outlines the Association of Surfing Professionals and some notable surfing records. It describes surfing culture and how it has influenced other sports like skateboarding. Finally, it lists and explains the key parts of a surfboard.
Surfing originated in Hawaii as a sport called i'enalu, involving sliding on the surface of waves. It developed mainly in Hawaii, Australia, and California from the 1960s onward. Major championships include the ASP World Tour, which was first held in Australia in 1964. There are different types of surfboards used depending on wave conditions and personal style, such as longboards, fish, and mini-malibu boards. Some of the best professional surfers who have dominated the sport include Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, and Laird Hamilton.

Surfing is an extreme water sport that originated in Polynesia over 3,000 years ago. It involves riding ocean waves on a surfboard. Key equipment includes the surfboard, as well as wetsuits for colder conditions. Some of the most famous professional surfers include 11-time world champion Kelly Slater and 3-time world champion Andy Irons, who tragically passed away in 2010.
Surfing has existed for over 500 years in Polynesia but became popular again in the early 20th century along the coasts of California and Australia, evolving into a more complex sport practiced worldwide but mostly in Australia. Major surfing competitions award titles like World Surfing Champion annually, and currently one of the best surfers is Kelly Slater, who has won the world title 8 times and has 39 professional victories.

Windsurfing is a water sport that combines aspects of sailing and surfing using an elongated board called a sailboard that is powered by wind pushing against its single sail. It emerged in the late 20th century and became an Olympic sport in 1984, though its popularity declined in the 1990s as equipment became more specialized. Windsurfing equipment includes a mast to hold the sail, the sail itself, a boom to support the sail, lines to control the sail and board, a board for the rider to stand on, and a fin to direct the board.
Windsurfing is a water sport that combines aspects of sailing and surfing using an elongated board called a sailboard that is powered by wind pushing against its single sail. It emerged in the late 20th century and involves speed sailing, slalom racing, wave riding, and freestyle maneuvers. There is dispute over who invented it, though Americans were granted an early patent and Australians credit a boy who built sail-powered canoes in the 1940s. Windsurfing equipment includes a mast, sail, boom, foot straps, and fin attached to the board.
Swimming, snorkelling, and surfing are some of the oldest water sports. Swimming has been practiced since ancient times and was the second largest Olympic sport. Snorkelling allows one to explore the underwater world without heavy equipment. Surfing originated hundreds of years ago in Hawaii and Australia and has evolved from heavy wooden planks to lightweight fiberglass boards. Safety is important for all water sports, such as not swimming alone, only snorkelling in calm conditions, and studying surf conditions before going out. Proper equipment like swimsuits, fins, masks, and boards are also needed for safe participation.
Windsurfing is a water sport where participants stand on a small surfboard called a sailboard that is propelled by a sail. The sport uses a sail attached to a mast that is connected to the board to harness wind power and maneuver across the water. Equipment used includes the mast, sail, boom, and board along with a harness and foot straps. Different windsurfing disciplines have emerged like racing, slalom, freestyle, and wave riding which involve speed, maneuvering through gates, performing tricks, and riding waves respectively. The modern sport originated in the 1960s when inventors developed the idea of using a kite-powered surfboard and the first patent for windsurfing was filed in 1968.
Surfing involves riding ocean waves towards the shore on a surfboard. While only a surfboard is needed, a wetsuit provides insulation in colder waters. Some etiquette rules for surfing include waiting your turn and avoiding crowded local breaks out of respect. Surfing has been practiced in Polynesia for over 500 years and became popular globally in the 1960s, with Australia, Europe and the US now leading the surf industry.
This document discusses the history and development of various water sports. It notes that swimming and snorkeling date back to ancient times. In the 19th century, sports like surfing, diving, water polo originated in different parts of the world. Water sports really took off in popularity in the 20th century as more people had leisure time and disposable income. The document provides brief definitions of various water sports like water polo, diving, swimming, rowing, canoeing/kayaking, water skiing, surfing and scuba diving.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

2. WHAT DOES SURFING MEAN TO A
SURFER?
Surfing is life for many. One who surf regularly, know
the work put behind every successful surf trip. They feel
a different kind of joy and happiness while surfing. It has
now become one of the most demanded water sports
and many surfing competitions are held across the
world. More than 20 million participants take part to
decide the world best.
But has it always been the same?
The answer is definitely no. It took years to reach the
level surfing is now at. What started as a necessity for
fishermen, turned into a passionate sport.

3. HOW DID SURFING BEGIN?
Believed to be originated in Hawaii, the island royalty
and the elite played it as a sport. But while tracing back,
it is found that surfing was introduced by the Polynesian
fishermen from Indonesia. They used it as a way to
return to shore while riding the waves on a wooden
board.
When the Polynesian migrated in search of work, the
sport also traveled all the way to Hawaii. There are
many conflicting stories, so, it may be hard to find
where and when surfing originated. But one thing is sure
it dates way back than we can think of.

4. HOW HAS SURFING CHANGED?
Surfing has changed widely over the years. Today,
people might see it as a competitive water sport that
involves some of the best in the industry, but it has not
always been the same. Surfing has transformed a lot to
be a billion-dollar industry. Let's take the story forward
considering its origin in Hawaii.
The native Hawaiian people practiced surfing with great
passion. But as more people started visiting Hawaii
during the 18th century, surfing went into a major
decline. Towards the end of the 19th century and
beginning of the 20th century, some good news was on
the way. The stage was set for the revival of surfing.

5. HOW SURFING SPREAD ACROSS THE
WORLD?
When a Hawaiian diver, Duke Kahanamoku, travelled
outside to participate in Olympics, surfing also traveled
with him. He showed the Australian people how it’s done,
and soon, it got popular in Australia during 1914-15, and
then to the whole world. And now lovers of this water
sport can be found almost everywhere.
Surfers' reach has grown far and wide. Many are
experiencing it for the first time yet falling in love with
such thrilling and blissful activity. To many, it is also a
journey of self-discovery as it brings surfers together as
a cultural group where they compete against
themselves and the waves.

6. HOW HAS THE SURFBOARD DESIGN
CHANGED?
Nowadays, you would find all sorts of advanced
surfboards, some may be integrated with state of the
art technology. But there weren’t many good quality
surfing instruments earlier. The original boards were
made out of thick, solid wood, weighing up to 175
pounds. Duke Kahanamoku, used a traditional 16ft
longboard. Carrying, riding and maintaining these
surfboards was difficult. They have seen drastic
reduction and transformation in terms of their shape
