Work/Professional life.

4
Stress has broadly four kinds:
* Acute Stress
* Chronic Stress
* Emotional Stress
* Burnout Stress
Professional Life basically includes Acute and Chronic Stress.
Acute Stress: It generally happens in lower level employees in regards to work factor.
But it tends to become Chronic due to household and family chores.
Chronic Stress: It happens in higher level employees, as they have to maintain the spine
of the factory. It causes a great deal of stress when a human have to take care of 100
others and their satisfactory needs.
*We generally thought that lower level employees have Chronic Stress is not exactly
right as the Working life and its measures only causes Acute stress, it is only household
needs that evolved into Chronic Stress.
1.Why zebras don't get ulcers (1994) – Robert Sapolsky
It deals with a very important issue i.e. the economical attributes of Stress. Like how poverty and Pay
inequality have life long health ramifications.
2.Declutter Your Mind: How to Stop Worrying, Relieve Anxiety, and Eliminate Negative
Thinking (2016) – S.J. Scott

3.Who Moved My Cheese? (1998) - Spencer Johnson
The story about 2 men and 2 mice and what their outlook on change. This book contains such clever
little proverbs as "He was happy when he wasn't being run by his fears" (in other words, just stop
being afraid, and you'll be happy).
4.The Little Book of Mindfulness: 10 Minutes a Day to Less Stress, More Peace (2014) -
Patrizia Collard
This little pocket-sized book focuses on practical tips and exercises for mindfulness. The illustrations
are pretty, and there are some lovely poems and quotes.
“Buddha told this story of the ‘two arrows’ to his visitors:
‘Life often shoots an arrow at you and wounds you. However, by not accepting what has happened,
by worrying about it, by saying it is unfair and wondering how long the pain will last, we tend to shot
a second arrow into the open wound and increase and prolong the pain. Pain is often given, but
suffering is optional.’

Gap of the Study
6
As times have changed, we have begun to consider mental health an issue that needs to
be addressed, but that consideration comes from a very small portion of Indian society.
-200 million suffered from depression WHO (world health organization)
-One in five people suffers from depression
- The most depressed country in world (2016)
STIGMAs that citizens of India fear so they worry more and don’t want to come out of
the closet. Some of these are:
*Fear of being judged
*Lack of Empathy
*Lack of sensitivity and education
*Expensive treatment
*Less Psychiatrists in India

Need of the Study

The common public misconception is to label stress as a bad thing, but in reality, stress
can actually be very healthy. When the body experiences a stressor, its fight-or-flight
response kicks in as a way to protect itself by staying focused, energetic, and alert. This
Study have will show that a healthy amount of manageable stress can lead to increased
brain functioning, a boosted immune system and better preparation for future stressful
situations, which can positively affect emotional health with your work and home life.
When chronic stress is not properly managed, however, it can cause serious health
effects including; increased blood pressure, suppressed immune system, greater risk of
heart attacks and strokes and an increased chance of experiencing some form of mental
or emotional health issues. The symptoms of stress can be experienced mentally,
physically, emotionally and behaviorally.
Objectives of the study
8
1. To find the common symptoms of the stress
2. What are the Causes of stress i.e. stressors
3. What are the Stress Management technique used by employees
4. To recommend Strategies to cope with stress
Hypotheses
9
WE FIND CERTAIN WAYS TO STAMP OUT STRESS
While doing this study found out that the speedy way to relieve stress is
to engage one or more of your senses sight, sound, smell, taste,
touch/thought movement.
Sight- look at a cherished photo that brings you joy, look at your
mementos, enjoy the beauty of nature.
Smell- light a scented candle or burn incense, get fresh air, experiment
with different essential oils.
Touch- pet a dog or cat, massage (hand or neck).
Taste- chocolates, coffee, tea, your favourite meal, sweet fruits.
Sound- tune in your favourite music, soundtrack of nature that can be
searched in YouTube, install wind chimes in home.
Movement- Running, walking, swimming, dancing, yoga and
meditation.
These are some of the ways and more can be add to the list.

If you find yourself experiencing several of the above symptoms and feel
as if the stress in your life is overwhelming, it is time to take back control.
The first step in managing your stress is recognizing any warning signs
and identifying the stressors in your life. Taking full control of your stress
management will require you to change the stressful situation when you
can and influence your reaction to the situation when you cannot.
The National Institute of Mental Health. These include:
– Exercising regularly and adopting a healthy lifestyle
– Exploring stress coping programs, which may incorporate meditation,
yoga, tai chi, or other gentle exercises.
– Engaging socially
– Avoiding unnecessary stressors by setting priorities and learning to say
“no” to tasks
– Changing the situations, adapting or accepting the things you cannot
change
– Making time for things you enjoy and helping you relax
Please seek help from a qualified mental health care provider if you are
overwhelmed, feel you cannot cope, have suicidal thoughts, or are using
drugs or alcohol to cope.
17
1. Meet yourself where you are
2. If you need to wallow, wallow — but do so constructively
3. Know that today isn’t indicative of tomorrow
4. Assess the parts instead of generalizing the whole
5. Do the opposite of what the ‘depression voice’ suggests
6. Set attainable goals
7. Reward your efforts
8. You may find it helpful to create a routine 9. Do something you
enjoy...
10. ...like listening to music
11. Or spend time in nature
12. Or spend time with loved ones
13. Try something new entirely
14. Volunteering can be a great way to do both
15. You can also use this as a way to practice gratitude 16. Incorporating
meditation may help ground your thoughts
17. What you eat and drink can also affect how you feel
18. If you’re up for exercise, consider a walk around the block
19. Getting enough sleep can also have a noticeable effect
20. Consider clinical treatment
