Representative Democracy Values
I want a country which has equal rights for everyone. I want a country where everyone has the
opportunity to have a say in government. I want a country that where everyone s voice will be heard,
no matter who they are. I want a country that doesn t create conflict unnecessarily. I want a country
where everyone can live a comfortable life, no matter where they came from.
In the country I want, everyone will have the opportunity to influence the government. I would like
the country to remain a representative democracy, but also get rid of the Electoral College. A true
representative democracy values everyone s vote equally, not based on the population of the state the
person lives in. There is no way that someone from Wyoming should be equal ... Show more content

I believe this will help reduce some conflict and possible even wars. Our country s goal will be to
remain peaceful until a danger arises. I don t mean the very slight possibility of danger, I mean solid
proof. If a country or group of people shows evidence of disrupting peace and safety, we will
eliminate the threat. I would prefer that our country uses economic sanctions whenever possible to be
diplomatic. This might not always be possible if the enemy does not comply, so military intervention
might be necessary in some cases. It is essential that our country stays out of unnecessary wars. This
will help us keep peaceful and beneficial relationships with most countries. Using these methods we
will have many strong allies. All of these components make up the system of Internationalism, which I
believe is the best system for our

Introduction By: Jami Rosier
With competitors such as DreamWorks, and Pixar, Disney Incorporated uses a vividly apparent
strategy of sex appeal in order to raise their ratings. However, Disney is pushing the envelope and is
willing to subject the innocent public to such images for higher ratings. The industry that we are
talking about is the movie industry. The majority of viewers are comprised of young ... Show more

The segment in question in occurs about midway through the movie when Simba, the hero, plops
down and a cloud of dust rises above him. As the dust begins to trail off, it forms the letters S E X,
with each letter fading as the next becomes clear (Mikkelson, 1996). In this next part, Simba is talking
to his father in the night sky where stars can be seen. Upon connecting these stars, a penis is formed
(Mikkelson, 1996). These messages can be identified as indirect hidden messages, which mean the
viewer was not directly intended to see the message, unless possibly looking for such material. The
hidden sexual messages are examples of how the creators of these movies know that sex in movies
boosts the sales. This is a terrible thing for movie executives to do, especially Disney, where the
majority of the audience is young children who do not need to see these disturbing gestures. The anti
abortion group, based in Stafford, Va., wants the Walt Disney Co. to remove The Lion King from
video stores (Giroux, 2000). One video store clerk was alerted of the appearance of the word, by a
woman who said her 4 year old son noticed it (Mikkelson, 1996). Michael Rhoades, who commented
for Disney stated the scene simply shows ``swirling dust in the night sky, seeing anything in The Lion
King other than a good wholesome family film is purely perception, he said (Studio History, 1998 ).

Nursing Assessment Of Respiratory System
CONCEPT 5: NURSING ASSESSMENT OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
This concept is taken from Block 4, Module 6 which is entitled as Assessment of respiratory system .
The respiratory system comprises of different organs used in respiration. Respiration involves
inhalation and exchange of oxygen and carbondioxide between living organisms and the environment.
The organs of respiration include; the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, 2 bronchi, bronchioles, 2 lungs
and muscles of breathing (the intercostal muscles and the diaphragm).
5.1 Personal context
Respiratory system assessment is the process of evaluating the functioning and condition of a patient s
respiratory system. During assessment of the respiratory system, the nurse takes the patient s history
and perform a physical examination on the patient. The nurse takes the patients data which include
personal history, family history, history of current and past respiratory problem, allergy history or
reactions to certain drugs, foods, allergens etc., and occupational history. The nurse also objective data
of the patient, these data will help her to know the respiratory condition of the patient and factors that
predisposes the patient to respiratory problems. The nurse also conducts a physical examination which
include inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation. Findings from the physical examination
will help her in making diagnosis and to plan adequate nursing care.

Reliability of Polygraph Testing Essay
A popular way on many crime dramas to determine if a suspect is lying or telling the truth is by
hooking them up to a polygraph machine. In a matter of a minute the police are able to determine if
the suspect is lying and guilty or, on the rare occasion, telling the truth and innocent. But, one has to
wonder, is it really that simple? Polygraphs measure four main factors that are thought to change when
a lie is told and more importantly, it is assumed that these changes indicate deception. The four main
factors are blood pressure, heart beat, perspiration, and breathing and these are recorded by using
simple devices. It is important to note from the beginning that those who question the reliability of
polygraphs do not doubt the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another noteworthy contribution was Vittorio Benumbs. Around World War One (WWI) he
experimented with a device that measured the rate and depth of breathing and based on these
experiments he concluded that this device could be used to gauge deception (The History and Basic
Facts of Polygraph, 2009). The United States government put these ideas of deception testing to work
during WWI when they measured the blood pressure of prisoners of war during questioning. The first
real big development towards the modern polygraph detector was in 1921 when Dr. John A. Larson
invented an instrument that made the first permanent record of blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
(The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). Despite all the contributions from various people,
the father of the polygraph is considered to be Leonard Keeler. Keeler created his own polygraph
which included a device called the galvanic skin response which measures changes in skin s resistance
to electricity, and therefore prespiration (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). He is
regarded as the father of the polygraph because his polygraph combined the three main components
that make up all modern polygraphs: the pneumograph (records respiration changes), cardiograph, and
the galvanic skin response.

Heathcliff Dynamic Character
There are some people who just draw attention. They do so without asking for it, but a light naturally
shines on them and they command the center of attention. Whether it be for good or bad reasons,
people cannot help but stare. One would imagine that if Heathcliff was a real person he would be one
of these individuals. He is a truly special character and the moment someone meets him in the book
that person is intrigued. The reader meets Heathcliff through several points of view and it is
impossible not to be drawn to him. This is partly due to how much of a dynamic and round character
he is. Although some people may see Heathcliff as only cold, there are so many shades to him. As
Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights progresses, Heathcliff is shown ... Show more content on

It is undeniable that he is completely aware of what he is doing. He plans his every move and is
always one step ahead of everyone else. For example, he tells Catherine, thank you for telling me your
sister in law s secret: I swear I ll make the most of it (116). He is clever enough to be able to use
Isabella s feelings for him as an advantage. Another person who believes him is Cathy; additionally,
he is so deviant that she actually falls for the letters from Linton, even though the letters had a clear
influence from his father. Heathcliff also, tries to get Cathy to turn on her own father when he says,
Catherine, his happiest days were over when your days began. He cursed you, I dare say, for coming
into the world (283). He tries to manipulate her and getting her to stay and marry Linton. Just like
Cathy, another person who lets himself be controlled is Linton. He is the reason Cathy keeps coming
back to Wuthering Heights, and this is all thanks to Heathcliff s influence. By the end of the book, his
father s control is evident when Linton says, I can never re enter that house, I m not to re enter without
you (277). In this line, readers can see that Heathcliff really does have total control over his son, since
Linton seems determined to bring Cathy in even if it means her not seeing her dying

The Uk s Data Protection Act And The General Data...

will be felt far beyond a company s legal or IT departments. It will have implications across the

So, for example, new business startups will need to ensure that they are collecting personal data in a
manner that is compliant with this legislation. 3. Key changes Some of the most important changes
are: i) Handling of personal information Organisations must be able to demonstrate that people have
freely given their consent to the processing of their personal data and The ICO recommends that this
means giving people genuine ongoing choice and control over how their data is used. Where an
organisation processes data belonging to children under 16 years in the UK (although the age may be
as low as 13 in some EU states), then organisations must obtain parental consent. The legislation
introduces the following rights: Right to be informed Right of access Right to rectification Right to
erasure Right to restrict processing Right to data portability Right to object Rights related to
automated decision making including profiling Importantly, there has to be express consent from the
data subject before that information can be processed and data subjects will have the right to withdraw
their consent at any time ii) Accessing information held Organisations are obligated to allow people
access to the personal data held about them. This is to allow them to: a.) be aware of the information
held b.) verify the lawfulness of the processing. Companies are not allowed to charge for providing

Critical Review Of Andrew Wakefield
Critical review on Wakefield s research paper
Introduction
Andrew Wakefield is a former gastroenterologist and medical researcher who was discharged from his
medical register in the UK, because of his dishonest research paper he released back in 1998, that
analysed a possible link between measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine and the presence of
autism and bowel disease (Godlee, F., et al, 2011). Wakefield s research generated a substantial scare
for the MMR vaccine and MMR vaccination rates began to drop because parents were concerned
about the risk of autism after vaccination (DeStefano, F., Chen, R.T., 1999). After the paper was
published by the Lancet medical newspaper, other reviews were trying to repeat Wakefield s
conclusions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that beforehand healthy child showing autistic sign the next day is casual and such disorder
would take weeks or months until the child s behaviour disorder gets altered, so it was inconvenient
when Wakefield stated the intervals between taking the vaccine and showing the symptoms of
behaviour disorder (Greenhalgh, T., 2004). Not to mention the short duration in which the patients
were examined, days or few weeks that resulted into more inconvenience. Lastly, Wakefield was very
ambiguous as his paper was very confusing due to the general tone that showed that they highly
trusted a connection between the MMR vaccine and autism but what Wakefield and his group of
researchers concluded was that they did not prove a link between MMR vaccine and autism

Chapter 13 The Socialist Challenge
In the 1900 s there were many social reform movements to help improve wages healthcare education
and sanitation. The term Muckraker was popularized in the 20th century, spearheaded by writer such
as Upton Sinclair, Jack London and frank Norris. They wrote articles in the news exposing the food
sanitation industries, which lead to greater government regulations. Socialists and Communists began
to stir up trouble with workers which lead to one of the first Red scares in the United States. I had no
idea that there were so few regulations on food in the 1900 s.

Essay on Castle of Otranto Preface Analysis
Horace Walpole (1717 1797) invented the Gothic novel in his attempt to blend wildness and
imagination of the old romance, in his own words an attempt to blend the two kinds of romance, the
ancient and the modern in one step altogether, the Castle of Otranto. A novel he claimed to have
written immediately after being inspired by a dream, I waked one morning...from a dream, of which
all I could recover was, that I had thought myself in an ancient castle...I saw a gigantic hand in
armour. In the evening I sat down and began to write (Letter, 9th march 1765). On the other hand
many would more quickly agree that the writing of this novel was a mere `specialized development of
his taste as a virtuoso and collector (Holt et al. 230). All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Authenticity was primary because for many years fiction was distrusted. Why would one read a book
that was not true? True stories were more compelling and exciting because they were actual events.
Thus it s a common pose for author, including Walpole, to claim that the storey was true. To do this
Walpole fussed over the date of composition, it was printed ... in the year 1529 (15), the probable
author from the Original Italian of Onuphrio Muralto (title page), that the author s style is purest
Italian (15) and so forth to create the impression that readers were holding a genuine translation of a
genuine document.
The `translator then enforced authority by supplying his own ethos (character and hence credibility)
by way of revealing the characteristics of a careful scholar. He named the place of publication, it was
printed in Naples (15) and noted that the novel was printed in black letter (15) as details that made him
sound like a scholar. The uses of details were indicators of carefulness and factuality. General and
vague accounts were usually deemed unreliable, while specific ones were judged to be more credible
and accurate. Thus, the detailed preface provided both an air of authenticity and a sense of authority
for the supposed translator to the claim for the text.
The eighteenth century readers were told by the first edition that the book was printed in 1529, while
inner evidence in the story might put the writing between

Television is one of the greatest inventions to ever be created, right? Lucian Dorneanu, an editor of

doing more harm than good. Television is supposed to be bringing entertainment and laughter to every

the post test essays was compared between groups. Before proceeding with the statistical analysis for
the research questions, homogeneity of the pre test essay between groups was verified; the researcher

Tsarist Autocracy In Russia
The Tsarist regime, an often barbaric feudal system, was balancing on the eve of collapse even before
the outbreak of World War One in 1914. Tsarism has a long and troubled history frequently changing
its views and opinions whilst demanding full dedication from its citizens. Tsarism s woes were
amplified at the dawn of the 20th century. Tsarism refused modernisation in a modern world which led
to events of historical merit such as the Bloody Sunday Massacre, and the Lena Goldfields massacre.
However, World War One did play a significant role in inciting revolution against the Tsarist regime.
The Tsarist autocracy inflicted its brutality upon the Russian people since Ivan III (Oxley, 2001) until
the death of Tsar Nicholas II, a reign spanning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russia was performing dismally in the Russo Japanese war which took a heavy toll on the standard of
living in Russia. An immense amount of supplies and able bodied soldiers were being carted away on
the now military only Trans Siberian railway, all of which took a heavy toll on the already weakened
economy (Wormald, 2017). Father Gapon, a charismatic priest living in St. Petersburg, ran the
Assembly of Russian Factory Workers, and found himself surrounded by many anti tsar extremists,
and became an important historical figure when examining the fall of Tsarism (Simkin, 1997). A

which was then fired upon by Cossacks, hundreds were killed. (Tsarist Russia, 1905 14: The death

Modernist Styles, Including Cubism, Orphism, and Futurism...
Modernist styles, including Cubism, Orphism, and Futurism challenged the practices of traditional
representational art.
I will argue that modernist styles including Cubism, Orphism and Futurism did challenge the practices
of traditional representational art. While some may argue that that the fact that modern styles were
concerned with subject gives doubt to how challenging they really were to representational art I
oppose this idea entirely. All art is representational in some way. Rather than a dismissing the concept
of representation in art the modernist styles challenged the validity of the external representation,
which had previously been the foundation of art, by focussing on conceptual representation.

Initially the search for a new, more truthful pictorial space was found in the introduction of time, the
fourth dimension, into space. Around this time in history the concept that space and time where
interlinked was suggested by Einstein s theory of relativity which destroyed the concept that the
dimensions of an object were absolute, by demonstrating that they depended on the relative position of
the viewer. This abstract concept was portrayed in Cubism through the use of synthesised impressions
of an image or space. As you view an image or object, your impression is not static but a moving
collection of impressions over time. The use of multiple viewpoints aimed to compress a multiplicity
of information gathered from various experiences of an object into one image.
This innovation of a truer space is most evidently portrayed by the analytic phase of Cubism. Through
the incorporation of the new artistic conventions the fragmentation of form was developed. The
intention was to encompass the entire visual experience of an object into one image and through this
idea an effective technique of breaking up form into planes and facets which each expressed a sample
of visual information. The Cubist works now possessed a shallow pictorial space due to the
abandonment of perspective on which these

Still Alice By Lisa Genova Essay
This novel Still Alice by Lisa Genova develops the theme of struggle. This is developed through the
use of narrator s internal conflict, the setting of the story and symbols. This story is written in the third
person from Alice s perspective. In this story, Alice is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s disease.
This passage of the book tells the reader how someone with Alzheimer s disease struggles to find out
who they are and what they need. The first literary element that develops the theme of struggle in this
novel is internal conflict. Alice woke up on the couch. She d been napping a lot lately, sometimes

herself to find simple things around her. In this situation, she was in her own house. It also explains
how the people around her might be struggling to see her suffering because of her disease. This
literary element was effectively used because it could help the reader understand the book in a better
way. Another literary element that was extremely helpful with developing the theme was the setting of
the story. This story takes place both in Alice s house and her work which is Harvard University. This
passage of the book tells the reader how Alice was lost at her work. Alice had to go work. She looked

The Role Of Technology In The Modern American Household
Over the past 30 years, technology has made great strides towards becoming a fundamental part of our
everyday lives; and for millions of parents and their children, it already is. The modern American
household is catered towards the technologically inclined computers, tablets, gaming systems, and
smart TVs have become commonplace in many homes. Not only do they serve their practical purpose,
but devices such as these also offer many opportunites for children and toddlers to learn, play, and
experience things they d previously been unable to. Many might challenge ideas such as this without
outdated statistics or conservative mindsets, but the truth of the matter is, the technological era has
arrived; and our children need to learn how to live in it.
With the growing population of middle class households that have access to internet and cable,
educational programming has seen a burst in activity and popularity. Families that were otherwise
unable to access educational TV and games before are now able to do so, and their children have the
opportunity to learn and play as they never have before. Increased exposure to such educational

Jude Charles
Little did anyone know, these next few days are going to be very tragic for everyone around. The
tragic starts with Jude Charles, the new guy. He moved to a different town and he now attends Rome
High School, named after the most popular girl in the school, Romania. There was something about
Jude Charles that made everyone admire him. Every student found him as a great leader and was
willing to listen to everything he said. However, there are two students that were not blindsighted by
him, Bailey and Cassie. They thought that something felt off about him, but they did not second look
it. Jude Charles worked his magic around the school causing every girl to fall in love with him.
However, Jude only had his eyes on one girl, Romania. Romania ... Show more content on

Bailey and Cassie were informed about this new couple, and knew right away that Jude Charles is not
right for Romania. These two had a talk with her and Romania was not going to change her mind.
Bailey and Cassie had to take action to get rid of Jude Charles or Romania will not be the same. They
came up with the best plan to get this monster out of Romania s hair forever. The next day they started
their plan in English class which they shared with Jude Charles. They both sat directly behind him so
the teacher could not see the girls. They started to make disruptions in class. They make funny noises,
and even threw papers everywhere until the teacher noticed and saw that the disruptions were coming
from the area of Jude Charles, so it had to be him. The teacher then sent him to the principal s office.
The girls followed him there and once again sat behind him in the office and did the same activity. The
principle stated that if he continued he would be expelled and would have to find a different school.
Bailey and Cassie knew that this was going to be their chance to get him away from Romania, so they
continued and soon after, Jude Charles was thrown

Difference Between Kinetic And Kinetic Energy
These things we use without even knowing we use them is things like our energy. Then when we use
these energies we continue to use every day. Then we use triangles everyday to even when we create
things to drive our car on and even to draw we use these things on a daily without even knowing.
For my background knowledge I know that you have all different types of energy and there is many
different types of colors. I also know that you can have triangles that can go along with angles and
height. When doing this you find many different ways to do things. Also knowing that they use
triangles for everything they can use all different types of triangles too.

Our statistical question was made we had to think about how much the object could weight and how
hihet it would be so it would not break the board. With this experiment we are trying to find out how
much we can fit into the object or how much the object could weight. Also asking ourselves if we had
enough books to keep the boards stable and also asking our self if the object that is a can of small
winnes. Which adds up to our statistical question which is ( How long will it take to get the object
large/small amount of weight down the ramp.)
My hypothesis is that we can have the can of winners roll perfectly down our ramp.this because it is a
very small object and can build lots of speed. And it (the can of wines) they don t have lots of weight
which can increase the possibilities. These are some energy s / material that you have to know to get

example if there is a bowling ball hitting pins and knocking them over. The second energy that is most
known about is potential energy which is (Stored energy due to the interactions of objects or

Critical Angle And Total Internal Reflection
Critical Angle Total Internal Reflection

Related Theory:
Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a ray of light
comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is reflected and part of it is
absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces
off. The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in
respect to the normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located in
the same plane.
Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two transparent mediums,
reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when rays of light bend across the boundary
into the second medium which causes a change in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the
slower the light.
Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher index medium to a
lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the normal, so the exit angle is greater
than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total
internal reflection takes place when the angle of incidence is greater than the

How To Write A Persuasive Essay On Dental Surgery

But sometimes the damage is more subtle and hard to realize. If you grind your teeth during the day or
night, you are slowly but surely grinding away some of your teeth s enamel. Occasionally grinding
your teeth won t be a big deal, as the damage is insignificant. But continued grinding will wear down
the teeth, leading to more serious problems like cavities or jaw disorders. You can even get headaches
and migraines from grinding your teeth. At Holly Dental Care, our dentists can help you stop grinding
your teeth and stop both the damage and the headaches.
Why Do I Keep Grinding My Teeth?
No one is absolutely positive why people grind their teeth, but we know the problem is neurological
and related to stress. Children often experience bruxism, or the unconscious grinding of teeth and
clenching the jaw. This is something most will grow out of. However, some never do. And because it
can be related to stress, many adults suffer from bruxism as well. Grinding your teeth may not sound
like a big problem, but it can damage your teeth and lead to another debilitating condition: TMD.
Your jaw joint, also called the temporomandibular joint, is responsible for helping you chew, smile,
talk, and so on. Grinding your teeth a lot puts extra stress on this joint, creating a condition called
TMD (temporomandibular disorder). TMD can cause many problems, including jaw pain, earaches,

Killer Bees Essay
The Africanized Honey Bee is actually a variety of honeybee derived by hybridization from African
honeybees naturalized in the western hemisphere. Because they are highly defensive and will attack
perceived intruders more readily than the common European honeybee, they are also known by the
popular name of killer bees.
Brazilian scientists imported African honeybee queens in the 1950 s in order to breed a honeybee for
use in tropical climates. Some swarms escaped into the wild. Because they were highly adapted for
tropical survival and had no natural competitors, they thrived and spread rapidly through South
America, extending their range by as much as 500 km (300 mi) per year. By the 1980s, Africanized ...

The businesses of many beekeepers in Latin American countries have failed as a result of
Africanization of the native hives. Africanized honey bees are not expected to have the same impact in
the United States because of advanced beekeeping technology and climatic limitations on the spread
of the species. Africanization of beehives can be prevented by the annual introduction of new
European queens to each colony. Africanized honeybees have increased the number of human deaths
due to bee stings in Mexico and Argentina and probably in other countries. In the United States,
however, although more people have been stung by bees since 1990, no more bee related deaths than
usual have been recorded.
Conclusions:
The idea of killer bees is one that is created more by the media and misinformation than actual fact.
Killer bees rarely if ever kill a victim. In addition, a killer bee scare in the United States would be
completely unfounded and unnecessary. General precautions that are usually taken with the
domesticated honeybee will suffice in protecting oneself against the Africanized honeybee. The
Africanized honeybee has, for the most part, reached a climatic limitation in the United States and will
not pose a threat to the northern areas of the country. The effect of Africanized honeybees to the
United States is small. Advanced bee keeping methods, precautions, and medical technology negate

Mexican History And Its Effects On American Soil
The way history is portrayed often changes depending on who is writing it and which country it is

it is essential to analyze Mexican Textbooks and how they portray it. Analyzing Mexican history will
not only give insight to what caused Villas attack on American Soil, feelings towards the Punitive
expedition, and its causes, but justification for Pancho Villas attack on Columbus in the eyes of the
Mexican People. The following report will include a description as well as analyzes of Mexican

by stating Villa trato de evitar, una y numerosas veces, los perjuiciousque el o sus soldados pudiesen

confianza which give off the impression to the audience that Villa attempted his best to maintain a
relationship with the US as well as implies that the American people were grateful for the courtesies
that Villa extended towards them. The way Mexican history portrays the relationship between Villa
and the US before the Columbus attack makes it seem as though they had a romanized friendship in
which both parties mutually felt affection for one another, this to a certain degree is correct because
they were mutual partners against Carranza for some time but in reality their relationship was not a
friendship but a diplomatic relationship. The proof that the United States and Villa held a diplomatic
relationship is that before holding relations with Villa the US was partnered with Carranza to oppose
the power in government of General Victoriano Huerta which the US objected to and then when the
US objected to Carranza they teamed up with Villa to oppose his power of government indirectly (

Role Of The Business Cycle Dating Committee Of The...
In this paper, I will explain the roles and importance of the Business cycle Dating committee of the
National Bureau of Economic Research. I will also explain how the NBER defines and dates
recessions. Finally I will explain the important aspects and effects of the last recession.
The Business Cycle is ...the ups and downs in economic activity, defined in terms of periods of
expansion or recession (Dr. Econ). Expansion is the period in which employment, production, sales
and income increase. Likewise, the contrasting contraction is when the actions above decrease. In
order to keep track of the fluctuations of the US s business cycles troughs and peaks, the National
Bureau of Economic Research was created. The NBER is comprised of a group of economic
researchers currently led by president James Poterba. The members are usually specialized in the field
of business cycle research, and are chosen by the president. The NBER was founded in 1920 as a
private non profit ...non partisan organization dedicated to conducting economic research and to
disseminating research findings among academics, public policy makers, and business professionals.
(http://www.nber.org/info.html). The NBER dating committee was formed in 1978, and plays an
important role in the US as an examiner of broad measures of economic activity, and the most reliable
source of the beginning and end of recessions in the U.S. This is accomplished by gathering as much
data on a given period of economic activity.

The labeling theory is a theory that describes how the self identity and behavior of individuals may be

There is some positivity with assigning someone a diagnosis of of a psychological disorder. For
instance living life not knowing about a disorder may be causing harm to your body. Going through
life without be aware is also cutting out the opportunity to get help for the problem occurring. So
knowing about it can help in the long run.
Some negative aspects when labeling someone with psychological disorders would be that a person
may not be viewed for who they are but, what their diagnosis is. Individuals may be looked at
negatively and their positive attributes are most likely to be looked passed. Another negative aspect
would be that medications may come with serious side effects that can do harm to a person s health.
All medications are known to have side effects. Stimulants that are commonly used by individuals
with ADHD may cause insomnia, suppressed appetite and growth, and other side effects that can
affect child and adolescent development. An individual who is diagnosed with a psychological

Both the pre test and post test are attached at the end of the lesson. The following are the results of the

77), her restless mental vigor (p. 78), and her willingness to stand up for her opinions, no matter how

woman, the diction used by the speaker is generally straightforward to the average person; therefore, it
can be concluded that the story was written for the average person. The terms used are nonetheless
very specific and suited to their purpose of describing the mother, especially with several precise
adjectives appearing constantly. The mother has an emotional voice (p. 78), holds unpopular, even
fantastic, positions (p. 78), and gives a vibrantly innocent look (p. 77) after destroying a game of

airplanes (p. 75). Even the speaker could not understand what her meant for years, which was that
building model airplanes was her hobby, not collecting stamps. The tone and diction that the speaker
uses is simple, but the reader has to work harder to understand examples of things the speaker s
mother does or says. The speaker also makes good use of literary devices, though they rarely appear.

Upcomng Advances in 3D Printing
Introduction [271]
3D printing is a means of revolutionising almost any and all aspects of life. The potential to bringing
into the physical world anything that can be conceived in the mind (and created on a computer) brings
a myriad of variety ; expanding markets and capabilities, whether new or improving products and
processes that are already in practice. 3D printers are falling in price as the technology improves and
the want for them increases making the ability to create anything domestically more practical , this
would allow for an influx of material that would be hard to control or monitor, this can include guns,
weapons and equipment for drugs manufacture along with the mundane domestic items like faucets,
plugs or pots. Such a possibility would involve the morals of the manufacturer and the ethics of the
wider collective that have an input on the advancements, though there are other limitations that play a
part in the progression of 3D printing that are independent of ethics. As the technology and concept
has the potential to create anything, it doesn t not yet have the capability to do so therefore the
anticipation of the possibilities is the only preparation the 3D printing industry can do, as a result I
shall conduct an investigation looking at the extent of ethical and moral influences as well as physical
and scientific limitations and how they could limit any potential advancements, in accordance with the

  • 2. Representative Democracy Values I want a country which has equal rights for everyone. I want a country where everyone has the opportunity to have a say in government. I want a country that where everyone s voice will be heard, no matter who they are. I want a country that doesn t create conflict unnecessarily. I want a country where everyone can live a comfortable life, no matter where they came from. In the country I want, everyone will have the opportunity to influence the government. The segment in question in occurs about midway through the movie when Simba, the hero, plops down and a cloud of dust rises above him. As the dust begins to trail off, it forms the letters S E X, with each letter fading as the next becomes clear (Mikkelson, 1996). In this next part, Simba is talking to his father in the night sky where stars can be seen. Upon connecting these stars, a penis is formed (Mikkelson, 1996). These messages can be identified as indirect hidden messages, which mean the viewer was not directly intended to see the message, unless possibly looking for such material. The hidden sexual messages are examples of how the creators of these movies know that sex in movies boosts the sales. This is a terrible thing for movie executives to do, especially Disney, where the majority of the audience is young children who do not need to see these disturbing gestures. The anti abortion group, based in Stafford, Va., wants the Walt Disney Co. to remove The Lion King from video stores (Giroux, 2000). One video store clerk was alerted of the appearance of the word, by a woman who said her 4 year old son noticed it (Mikkelson, 1996). Michael Rhoades, who commented for Disney stated the scene simply shows ``swirling dust in the night sky, seeing anything in The Lion King other than a good wholesome family film is purely perception, he said (Studio History, 1998 ). 4 The Little Mermaid By: Sara Roberts The Little Mermaid also makes ... The organs of respiration include; the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, 2 bronchi, bronchioles, 2 lungs and muscles of breathing (the intercostal muscles and the diaphragm). 5.1 Personal context Respiratory system assessment is the process of evaluating the functioning and condition of a patient s respiratory system. During assessment of the respiratory system, the nurse takes the patient s history and perform a physical examination on the patient. The nurse takes the patients data which include personal history, family history, history of current and past respiratory problem, allergy history or reactions to certain drugs, foods, allergens etc., and occupational history. The nurse also objective data of the patient, these data will help her to know the respiratory condition of the patient and factors that predisposes the patient to respiratory problems. The nurse also conducts a physical examination which include inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation. Findings from the physical examination will help her in making diagnosis and to plan adequate nursing care. 5.2 Social context The ability to perform proper nursing ... • 6. Reliability of Polygraph Testing Essay A popular way on many crime dramas to determine if a suspect is lying or telling the truth is by hooking them up to a polygraph machine. In a matter of a minute the police are able to determine if the suspect is lying and guilty or, on the rare occasion, telling the truth and innocent. But, one has to wonder, is it really that simple? Polygraphs measure four main factors that are thought to change when a lie is told and more importantly, it is assumed that these changes indicate deception. The four main factors are blood pressure, heart beat, perspiration, and breathing and these are recorded by using simple devices. It is important to note from the beginning that those who question the reliability of polygraphs do not doubt the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another noteworthy contribution was Vittorio Benumbs. Around World War One (WWI) he experimented with a device that measured the rate and depth of breathing and based on these experiments he concluded that this device could be used to gauge deception (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). The United States government put these ideas of deception testing to work during WWI when they measured the blood pressure of prisoners of war during questioning. The first real big development towards the modern polygraph detector was in 1921 when Dr. John A. Larson invented an instrument that made the first permanent record of blood pressure, pulse, and respiration (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). Despite all the contributions from various people, the father of the polygraph is considered to be Leonard Keeler. Keeler created his own polygraph which included a device called the galvanic skin response which measures changes in skin s resistance to electricity, and therefore prespiration (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). He is regarded as the father of the polygraph because his polygraph combined the three main components that make up all modern polygraphs: the pneumograph (records respiration changes), cardiograph, and the galvanic skin response. Whether it be for good or bad reasons, people cannot help but stare. One would imagine that if Heathcliff was a real person he would be one of these individuals. He is a truly special character and the moment someone meets him in the book that person is intrigued. The reader meets Heathcliff through several points of view and it is impossible not to be drawn to him. This is partly due to how much of a dynamic and round character he is. He is the reason Cathy keeps coming back to Wuthering Heights, and this is all thanks to Heathcliff s influence. By the end of the book, his father s control is evident when Linton says, I can never re enter that house, I m not to re enter without you (277). A novel he claimed to have written immediately after being inspired by a dream, I waked one morning...from a dream, of which all I could recover was, that I had thought myself in an ancient castle...I saw a gigantic hand in armour. Around this time in history the concept that space and time where interlinked was suggested by Einstein s theory of relativity which destroyed the concept that the dimensions of an object were absolute, by demonstrating that they depended on the relative position of the viewer. This abstract concept was portrayed in Cubism through the use of synthesised impressions of an image or space. As you view an image or object, your impression is not static but a moving collection of impressions over time. The use of multiple viewpoints aimed to compress a multiplicity of information gathered from various experiences of an object into one image. Critical Angle And Total Internal Reflection Critical Angle Total Internal Reflection Kate Graham Partner: Samantha Dekart Monday, November 9, 2015 SNC2D Ms. Vink Purpose: See attached sheet, labelled SNC2D Lab Sheet . Related Theory: Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a ray of light comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is reflected and part of it is absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces off. The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in respect to the normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located in the same plane. Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two transparent mediums, reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when rays of light bend across the boundary into the second medium which causes a change in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the slower the light. Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher index medium to a lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the normal, so the exit angle is greater than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total internal reflection takes place when the angle of incidence is greater than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brazilian scientists imported African honeybee queens in the 1950 s in order to breed a honeybee for use in tropical climates. Some swarms escaped into the wild. Because they were highly adapted for tropical survival and had no natural competitors, they thrived and spread rapidly through South America, extending their range by as much as 500 km (300 mi) per year. By the 1980s, Africanized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The businesses of many beekeepers in Latin American countries have failed as a result of Africanization of the native hives. Africanized honey bees are not expected to have the same impact in the United States because of advanced beekeeping technology and climatic limitations on the spread of the species. Africanization of beehives can be prevented by the annual introduction of new European queens to each colony. Africanized honeybees have increased the number of human deaths due to bee stings in Mexico and Argentina and probably in other countries. In the United States, however, although more people have been stung by bees since 1990, no more bee related deaths than usual have been recorded. Conclusions: The idea of killer bees is one that is created more by the media and misinformation than actual fact. Killer bees rarely if ever kill a victim. In addition, a killer bee scare in the United States would be completely unfounded and unnecessary. General precautions that are usually taken with the domesticated honeybee will suffice in protecting oneself against the Africanized honeybee. The Africanized honeybee has, for the most part, reached a climatic limitation in the United States and will not pose a threat to the northern areas of the country. The effect of Africanized honeybees to the United States is small. Advanced bee keeping methods, precautions, and medical technology negate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The key words within their portray of history is trato de evitar gano la confianza which give off the impression to the audience that Villa attempted his best to maintain a relationship with the US as well as implies that the American people were grateful for the courtesies that Villa extended towards them. The way Mexican history portrays the relationship between Villa and the US before the Columbus attack makes it seem as though they had a romanized friendship in which both parties mutually felt affection for one another, this to a certain degree is correct because they were mutual partners against Carranza for some time but in reality their relationship was not a friendship but a diplomatic relationship. The proof that the United States and Villa held a diplomatic relationship is that before holding relations with Villa the US was partnered with Carranza to oppose the power in government of General Victoriano Huerta which the US objected to and then when the US objected to Carranza they teamed up with Villa to oppose his power of government indirectly ( Pancho Villa Attacks ... Though the mother in this essay uses extraordinary words and is obviously a well educated woman, the diction used by the speaker is generally straightforward to the average person; therefore, it can be concluded that the story was written for the average person. The terms used are nonetheless very specific and suited to their purpose of describing the mother, especially with several precise adjectives appearing constantly. The mother has an emotional voice (p. 78), holds unpopular, even fantastic, positions (p. 78), and gives a vibrantly innocent look (p. 77) after destroying a game of bridge. However, the essay does require thinking, as several of the examples of the mother s behavior and phrases that she employs are very clever and include a much more sophisticated diction, as is true in the mother s life. When she responds to the question Save stamps? (p. 75) with No...I build model airplanes (p. 75). Even the speaker could not understand what her meant for years, which was that building model airplanes was her hobby, not collecting stamps. The speaker also makes good use of literary devices, though they rarely appear. She makes an allusion to Samson (p.77) when talking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The potential to bringing into the physical world anything that can be conceived in the mind (and created on a computer) brings a myriad of variety ; expanding markets and capabilities, whether new or improving products and processes that are already in practice. 3D printers are falling in price as the technology improves and the want for them increases making the ability to create anything domestically more practical , this would allow for an influx of material that would be hard to control or monitor, this can include guns, weapons and equipment for drugs manufacture along with the mundane domestic items like faucets, plugs or pots. Such a possibility would involve the morals of the manufacturer and the ethics of the wider collective that have an input on the advancements, though there are other limitations that play a part in the progression of 3D printing that are independent of ethics.
