POLITICAL HISTORY
 1894: Arrival of the French in CAR
 1906: Became a Colony of France
 1960: Got Independence from France (13th Aug). David Dacko became President
 1966: 1st Bloodless Mil Coup by Colonel Jean-Bedel Bokassa and became President
 1976: Bokassa declared himself the Emperor of CAR (4th Dec). CAR became Monarchy
 1979: OP Caban by French Military (2nd MIL Coup) to depose Bokassa to reinstate the Former president

 1981: 3rd Bloodles Mil Coup by General André Kolingba (1st Sept) imposed Martial Law
 1986: General André Kolingba became president and introduced new constitution
 1993: Ange-Félix Patassé elected as new President of CAR and Changed the constitution

POLITICAL HISTORY
 2003: Rebel groups attacked Capital Bangui and François Bozizé became the new President of CAR.
 2004: CAR Bush War began between UFDR rebels and government forces
 2007: The FDPC's Abdoulaye Miskine signed a peace agreement with the government on 2 Feb.
Integration of FDPC into FACA. The UFDR signed a peace agreement in Bangui after 2 months.
 2008: APRD signed a cease fire and peace agreement with the government in Libreville on 9th May.
 2011: CPJP signed a peace agreement in Bangui.
 2012: The conflict restarted with rebel groups accusing President Bozizé of violating the terms of their
earlier agreement (10 Dec)
 2013: Séléka, overthrew Bozizé and took the capital, Bangui, on 24 March 2013, and rebel leader
Michel Djotodia declared himself President of the Central African Republic

The Arrival of the European
Ubangi-Shari (French: Oubangui-Chari) was a
French colony in central Africa, a part of
French Equatorial Africa.
It was named after the Ubangi and Chari rivers
along which it was colonised. It was
established on 29 December 1903, from the
Upper Ubangi (Haut-Oubangui) and Upper
Shari (Haut-Chari) territories of the French
Congo; renamed the Central African Republic
(CAR) on 1 December 1958.

Abdoulaye Miskine, Leader of FDPC signed a ceasefire with
govt on 2nd Feb 2007.
Zacharia Damane, leader of UFDR signed a peace treaty with
the govt on 1st april 2007
Jean-Jacques Démafouth Mafoutapa, the APRD chief signed
a cease fire on 9 May 2008.
Abdoulaye Hissene, leader of the CPJP signed a ceasefire with
the government of CAR in 2011

CAR became Monarchy  1979: OP Caban by French Military (2nd MIL Coup) to depose Bokassa to reinstate the Former president David Dacko  1981: 3rd Bloodles Mil Coup by General André Kolingba (1st Sept) imposed Martial Law  1986: General André Kolingba became president and introduced new constitution  1993: Ange-Félix Patassé elected as new President of CAR and Changed the constitution
  • 19. 19 POLITICAL HISTORY  2003: Rebel groups attacked Capital Bangui and François Bozizé became the new President of CAR.  2004: CAR Bush War began between UFDR rebels and government forces  2007: The FDPC's Abdoulaye Miskine signed a peace agreement with the government on 2 Feb. Integration of FDPC into FACA. The UFDR signed a peace agreement in Bangui after 2 months.  2008: APRD signed a cease fire and peace agreement with the government in Libreville on 9th May.  2011: CPJP signed a peace agreement in Bangui.  2012: The conflict restarted with rebel groups accusing President Bozizé of violating the terms of their earlier agreement (10 Dec)  2013: Séléka, overthrew Bozizé and took the capital, Bangui, on 24 March 2013, and rebel leader Michel Djotodia declared himself President of the Central African Republic
  • 20. 20 The Arrival of the European Ubangi-Shari (French: Oubangui-Chari) was a French colony in central Africa, a part of French Equatorial Africa. It was named after the Ubangi and Chari rivers along which it was colonised. It was established on 29 December 1903, from the Upper Ubangi (Haut-Oubangui) and Upper Shari (Haut-Chari) territories of the French Congo; renamed the Central African Republic (CAR) on 1 December 1958.

Zacharia Damane, leader of UFDR signed a peace treaty with the govt on 1st april 2007 Jean-Jacques Démafouth Mafoutapa, the APRD chief signed a cease fire on 9 May 2008. Abdoulaye Hissene, leader of the CPJP signed a ceasefire with the government of CAR in 2011
  • 29. 29 THE RISE OF SÉLÉKA Gen. Michel Djotodia 7th President of CAR (1st Mulslim) Founder of Séléka 10th Jan 2014 he resigned Gen. Joseph Zoundeiko Appointed as chief of Séléka in 2014 Later became leader of FPRC 12th Feb 2017 he was killed by UN Force.  The Séléka first emerged on 15 September 2012 under the name alliance CPSK-CPJP.  The group had overthrown the govt on March 2013 and Djotodia became president.  The members of this group are mostly muslim.
