Argumentative Essay On Plastic Surgery
Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of plastic surgery can be a challenging task that
requires careful research, critical thinking, and a well-structured argument. The subject itself is
multifaceted, encompassing various ethical, social, and medical considerations, which makes it
crucial for the writer to approach the topic with sensitivity and a comprehensive understanding.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the diverse opinions surrounding plastic surgery. The
field encompasses both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, and individuals may hold
contrasting views on the necessity, morality, and impact of these interventions. Crafting a
persuasive essay requires the writer to acknowledge and address opposing arguments while
presenting a compelling case for their own stance.
Furthermore, delving into the medical aspects of plastic surgery involves understanding complex
procedures, potential risks, and the evolving nature of the field. Reliable sources and up-to-date
research are essential to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the information presented in the
essay.
The social and cultural dimensions of plastic surgery add another layer of complexity. Different
societies and cultures have varying perspectives on beauty standards, self-image, and the
acceptance of surgical enhancements. Analyzing these factors requires a nuanced approach that
considers the diverse cultural contexts in which plastic surgery is practiced.
In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on the topic of plastic surgery demands a balanced
and informed exploration of ethical, medical, and social aspects. It is a task that challenges the
writer to synthesize diverse perspectives, critically evaluate evidence, and present a coherent
argument. However, with careful research and thoughtful consideration, a well-crafted essay can
contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse on this intricate subject.

My Happiest Moment
Have dinner with your family or walk in the park with friends. If you re so
inclined, put in some good hours at the office or at your favorite charity, temple or
church. Work on your jump shot or your child s model trains. With luck, you ll find
happiness by the by. If not, your time won t be wasted. You may even bring a little joy
to the world, (McMahon Par 12). One of the happiest moments of my life was when
I was with my family, sitting around the tv watching a funny movie. We were all
having a good time and were very happy. This made me loveto spend time with my
family, because we shared laughter and enjoyed each other s company. So therefore,
I agree with McMahon that being less selfish and spending time with the people you
love and doing what you love brings happiness. Someone who is a good example of
doing what you love and surrounding yourself with people you love to make you
happy, is Sam Berns. was an American teen who had progeria and helped raise
awareness about the disease. He aired a showing of How to live a happy life. He
talked about how he was sick and told he was going to die. Sam told a story about
how he wanted to be in band and play the drum but because the illness made him
weak and small, he was not able to lift the drum let alone march with it. But this did
not stop sam from doing what he loves, in fact he and team of engineers designed a
drum so light that sam could march and play in the band. He did not let little
setbacks affect him from doing

My arm burned as Atom made the last mark of my tattoo on my right shoulder as
we sat in the second floor of the Protector Tree House. My whole counsel made up
of the original seven Protectors had decided to get theirs today. I just happened to

A Short Note On Hypertension And Secondary Hypertension
The reason why I selected to do my paper on hypertension is, hypertension is very
common. About 70 million people in the United States have hypertension (High
Blood Pressure Frequently Asked Questions , 2015). Another reason why I selected
to write my paper on hypertension is I want to know why it is called the silent killer.
I also want to know why it affect African Americans the most.
Hypertension is defined as a blood pressure reading of 140/90mmHg (millimeters of
mercury) or above. Blood pressure is the force blood exerts against your artery walls
as it circulates through your body. When the left ventricle contract and expels blood
into the aorta the pressure on the artery wall is called the systolic pressure. The
more blood exerts on the artery wall the higher the blood pressure is. When the
aortic valve close, avoiding blood from flowing back into the heart and the arteries
readjust themselves is called diastolic pressure. When the heart is relaxed the pressure
is at its lowest. The two kind of hypertension are primary hypertension and secondary
hypertension. Primary hypertension develop over many years and there is no known
cause for it. Primary hypertension can be influenced by diet, heredity, obesity, stress,
smoking and age (staff, 2015). Primary hypertension cannot be cured, but it can be
controlled sometimes through diet, exercise, stress management, and medications.
Secondary hypertension is caused by underlying condition such as obstructive sleep
apnea, kidney
Application Of A Smart Home
ABSTRACT Residential area consume a lot of energy and electricity. The lack of
energy resources give impact to the rise of energy cost, thus to have a convenient
home is extremely important in the future. One of the way to reduce the costs in
this issue is by using the energy efficiently. The idea of energy saving is applied in
the concept of a smart home. This project aims to develop an algorithm to estimate
the energy plans for future periods in a smart home in order to achieve energy
efficiency. Using the Household Demand Side Management (DSM) systems, the
total usage of energy in the future can be predicted according to the demand supply
in the smart home. Furthermore, it is estimated that the simultaneousness between
production and consumption of the electricity will be increasing. In this case, the
house owner should be able to manage and plan to use the electricity wisely.
Powerful tools such as MATLAB / Simulink allow the design, analysis and
simulation of this project. This project will in divided into various stages
including researching, experimenting, modelling, testing and designing in order to
achieve the required objectives. TABLE OF CONTENTS CHAPTER 1

Cultural Diversity and Louie
Introduction
1) Does Louie have a problem, or are the people who made the negative comments
about Louie just being too sensitive?
According to the article, the manager named Louie does have problem. The people
who made the negative comments are not being too sensitive since the comments
about him are true although he may not realize that. Louie has discrimination
problem against female (para.3 and 8), homosexual (para. 4), older people (para. 5)
and other races of people were judged by him with his own perception which might
be wrong. (para. 7)
As we saw from study case, Louie insulted a female customer to discuss with her
husband in order to get new exhaust system instead of making decision by her. ...

Then, the company faces the problem of losing customers.
Therefore, company has to take Louie s problem seriously. Company has to be
careful when take correct approach to solve the problem. The approach should be
effective and simultaneously will not upset Louie.
3) What improvement might Louie need to make to become a truly multicultural
manager?
There are some improvements that Louie can make in order for him to be a more
efficient manager in a diverse workplace.
First of all, Louie can be more open minded and down to the earth in today s
modern world. Louie can learn to value the differences of other people and respect
their opinions. Louie had to respect customers by accepting and adopting their value
and believes. Louie should be humble and ask for other people ideas or opinions
when making decision due to the differences of ideas that shared among each others
will help Louie to learn others culture. At the same time, listening to others ideas and
experiences is a way to understand other from different situations and different
perspectives.
Besides that, Louie should enhance himself with personal ethnic and soft skills.
Louie should not have the idea of genders, homosexual and senior citizens
discrimination. It is essential for Louie to leave those outdate opinion behind.
Therefore, Louie is encouraged to go for training
Protein Phosphatase Receptor Analysis
Its function is regulated by dopaminergic and glutaminergic receptors. When
stimulated by dopaminergic receptors it is a potent inhibitor of PP1О± (Hemmings,
1984). In contrast, when stimulated by glutaminergic receptors, the inhibitory
activity of DARPP 32 against PP1 is reduced (Halpain, 1990). DARPP 32 is
regulated by brain derived neurotropic factor as well as the Akt pathway and CDK5
/p35 pathway (Stroppolo, 2001) (Bogush, 2007).
Protein Phosphatase Inhibitor 2 Protein Phosphatase Inhibitor 2 (I 2) I 2 is a heat
stable protein that can inhibit the catalytic subunits of PP1 (Huang, 1976). When
unphosphorylated I 2 is inhibitory to PP1c however, phosphorylation of I 2 can
induce PP1c activity (Cohen 2002). It has been shown to be important in cell
cycle regulation and is found at the centrosomes during interphase (Eto, 2002). The
consensus as to the purpose of I 2 is to act as a regulator of PP1 to control the
kinase/PP1 balance and activate different cellular events. It has also been shown to
play a role in tubulin acetylation in the cilium of retinal epithelial cells. Wang and
Brautigan showed that I 2 localizes to the cilium of human retinal epithelial cells
with PP1. RNAi knockdown of I 2 showed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In order to answer the question from the introduction How do such a small number of
phosphatases regulate the phosphorylation of thousands of proteins while also
allowing each protein to be regulated independently? PP1 has evolved mechanisms to
bind numerous different subunits in order to function the way it needs. There are
many more regulatory subunits than discussed above. The subunits discussed above
are the major subunits involved in PP1 dynamics. It is a near certainty that more
regulatory subunits will be discovered. If PP1 could only form a complex with one
subunit at a time there are ~42 different holoenzyme structures possible with the
subunits discussed
Analysis Of Primo Levi s The Gray Zone
Primo Levi s book, Survival in Auschwitz, examines how a select few managed to
survive the inhumane and brutal treatment of the Jews in Auschwitz. The well
known Italian Holocaust survivor, Primo Levi was only 24 years old, when he was
captured and taken to a detention camp in Fossoli, before spending eleven months in
Auschwitz. He, like so many other innocent Jews, was sent to die in the death camp
but with a little bit luck and resourcefulness, he survived. In his essay, The Gray
Zone Levi, writes privileged prisoners were a minority within the Lager [camp]
population; nevertheless they represent a potent majority among survivors (The Gray
Zone,117), where he examines the middle ground between Nazi soldiers and the
Jewish prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone in the Lager is responsible for oneself, and no one could afford to help his
or her neighbor because one act of kindness could get you killed. Levi shares the
story of Alfred L, a successful young engineer, arrested and sent to Auschwitz. In
his own country, L. was the director of an important factory chemical product and
its name was (and is) well known in industrial circles throughout Europe (Levi 93).
Primo Levi wants to make it clear to the reader that, for Alfred to reach the highest
position of director and be able to survive the camps he had to be determined,
motivated and intelligent. According to the author, Alfred always tried to separate
himself from the rest of the Häftling and made an effort to keep himself clean and
put together. He also made it a priority to always treat others with kindness and
respect. Alfred did not give up hope like so many others, in the camps, he adapted
to his situation the best way he could. He separated himself from the other
prisoners and made himself known. He carried himself with discipline and respect,
which made him an asset to the Nazis. By acting differently than the other prisoners,
Alfred was able to get a better job as the technical head of the Chemical Kommando.
According to Levi ... L. was able to earn all this show of prosperity with incredible
tenacity, paying for his acquisitions

2 EMBEDDED SYSTEMS:
2.1 DEFINITIONS: Embedded system is a combination of hardware and software, it
is also named as Firm ware . An embedded system is a special purpose computer
system, which is completely encapsulated by the device it controls. It is a computer
controlled system. An embedded system is a specialized system that is a part of a
larger system or machine. As a part of a larger system it largely determines its
functionality. Embedded systems are electronic devices that incorporate
microprocessors with in their implementations. The main purpose of the
microprocessors are simplify the system design and improve flexibility. In the
embedded systems, the software is often stored in a read only memory (RAM) chip.
Embedded systems provide several major functions including monitoring of the
analog environment by reading data from sensors and controlling actuators.
2.2 EXAMPLES OF EMBEDDED SYSTEMS: Embedded systems are found in
wide range of application areas. Originally they were used only for expensive
industrial control applications, but as technology brought down the cost of dedicated
processors, they began to appear in moderately expensive applications such as
automobiles, communication and office equipments and television Today s
embedded systems are so inexpensive that they

Discover Why The ASICS Men s Gel Kayano 21 Running Shoe is the Number One
Shoe By Most Athletes
For many of us that enjoy running and having flat feet, one is always dreaming about
the perfect running shoe without the concerns of pain that comes with it. Thinking
on this point, many agree. We have tried many different running shoes and some of
them are fine, however, when one tries on the ASICS Kayano 21 things start
changing, especially with their latest release! Built with comfort one has never seen
before in any of the Kayano range with some great improvements and modernized
sock liner with the midsole and some other great characteristics, keep reading, so let

However, the DuoMax support still feels a bit on the heavy side!
It has a forefoot and rare foot cushioning made of gel units placed between the outer
sole and midsole. This gel helps runners with the shock they receive from the ground
during running and great for running on different surfaces. In addition, the cushioning
is superb and constructed with Dynamic DuoMax support and great for avid runners.
For the passionate runner your feet need to breathe, leaving them feeling dry without
that sweaty feeling and the ASICS Kayano 21 is superb as it has a Fluidfit mesh on
the outer side that stretches and forms with your feet presenting one with a snug feel
to it. While the ComfortDry X 40 sockliner provides one with comfort and
breathability and the lace up designs, superb as it weaves through the tongue and
midfoot.
In addition, one of the superb characteristics for all avid runners is the updated heel
clutching system as ASICS have removed the hardened plastic under the mesh and
replaced it with a plastic frame. One still finds the same soft mesh available as on the
rest of the running shoe as the plastic locks your
Expressionism In Pink Panther
When examining art, art theory can provide useful tools in understanding,
appreciating, and extracting both superficial and deeper meanings from the work. It
also assists in quantifying what art is; the case has been made that artistic license
does not equate art, and boundaries help to create context and meaning. In Terry
Barrett s book, Why is That Art?: Aestheticsand Criticism of Contemporary Art, he
delves into art theory through the lens of realism, cognitivism, and expressionism,
using contributions from theorists both ancient and modern. Renowned pop artist,
Jeff Koons, presents something of an analytical conundrum in much of his art, as it
can be analyzed through the lens of all three categories. His sculpture, Pink Panther,
when analyzed through realism, provides a succinct reflection of many deeply
ingrained cultural attitudes and expectations. The following will analyze Pink
Panther using realism theory, offering a sample process of how such an analysis
could occur. It will also subsequently evaluate the interpretation, highlighting the
strengths and weaknesses that can be found when applying certain perspectives in art
theory to a specific work of art.
Realism Interpretation In Pink Panther, Koons used glazed porcelain to sculpt the
image on the Pink Panther cartoon embracing a topless woman, who is holding her
breast. The fluidity of line is realistic, but the reflective glaze renders the figures
shiny like a plastic toy. This, combined with the array of bold
Amy Lowell s Patterns
Amy Lowell defines the hopeful liberty of women in the 20th century through a
central theme in the poem Patterns . The woman s dreams of eluding from the
boundaries that society has placed on her fritters away when she learns of her
lover s untimely death. She restricts herself from feeling to make it seem as if there
is not softness anywhere about her. Due to being constricted by whalebone and
brocade, the speaker feels like she is forced to live up to the rules that society
enforces upon her. The numerous images that the speaker uses in this poem like
the fluid motions of the flowers and water drops, the dressand her daydreams of
her lover all play an important part in developing the theme of Freedom. At the
beginning of Patterns , the speaker illustrates daffodils dancing freely in the wind.
This use of imagery is a tool to appeal to the audiences sense of sight, these flowers
are given movement, and they are described as, blowing, and Fluttering in the breeze,
This description produces a sense of flexibility. The womanhas a desire to be like the
flowers, self confident and carefree. The second stanza of the poem begins with the
woman describing the water in the marble fountain. The plashing of water drops
demonstrates liquid in motion. She notices such little details in a fountain which
shows how much the woman aspires to be free and able to move about as she
wishes. The buoyant movement of the flowers and the water represents a way of life
that
The Music Of The Band U2
Rock music is one of the most well known genres of music throughout the world. It
has survived decades and well known bands have never truly died out. You can ask
two different generations and can almost guarantee that both will know the greats. In
this genre there have been many bands and artists that have influenced not only music
but the world around them. U2is a rock band that is consistent with their message of
love and musical structure of their songs. In this essay I will be talking about three
different musical performances by the band U2. I will take a look at the tonality,
texture, and other musical elements within these works of art. Ever since their start,
U2 has been nothing short of successful. U2 formed in Dublin... Show more content

Later on, in the mid 80 s they performed many charity shows, again showing their
passion for a better world. In 1987, their album The Joshua Tree took off and was
ranked number one in the U.S. and the U.K. and ever since U2 has been prevalent
in Rock and Pop music all around the globe. They have had tours around the whole
world, After the initial European leg, the U.S. portion of its tour will kick off in
Chicago ( U2 Kicks Off World Tour in Spain ). They have even done tours as lately
as 2015 and performed 76 shows on the Innocence and Experience tour. U2 has sold
more than 170 million records putting them into an elite group with Billy Joel, The
Eagles, and other amazing artists. In 2004 Rolling Stone named Bono the 32nd best
singer ever and Edge the 38th best guitarist. In 2010 eight of their songs appeared
in the top 500 songs of all time. They have a total 22 Grammys which is seventh all
time and first all time as group! U2 has been thriving for decades and part of their
success is their continual efforts to spread peace through their work. Although
they have been around for so long they still love to release songs, However, last
week, Billboard reported that the album the Irish quartet was crafting alongside
producer Danger Mouse wouldn t be ready until next year (Kennedy). U2 is one of
the most successful bands in rock history. First to be analyzed, is the song Beautiful
Day released in 2000 as part of the album All That You Can t Leave Behind.
Beatitude Essay
I chose the beatitude, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied . I chose this beatitude due to the fact I believe that it is
extremely important. Surprisingly, I realized that it is important as a result of
numerous people in our society aren t fighting for what is right. For example, the
lgbtq community. The lgbtq community is not being supported by plentiful people.
I believe this is wrong due to the fact everyone should be treated equally and fairly.
Not many people are stepping up and doing what is right. I imagine that if everyone
did what was right, everyone would benefit. Furthermore, everyone would benefit as

The scales show that they re should be some sort of balance that respects both sides
and treats them as equals. I chose to put a chalice and bread into my poster on behalf
of it represents the satisfaction that comes from the relationship with God. I realize
this was important to put into my poster since the beatitude, I chose, describes people
s need for God and the knowledge that they can only live satisfying lives if they are
in union with God. The bread and chalice are just a microscopic portion of the
satisfaction that you will grab from being in union with God. People need God to
guide them into true happiness and satisfaction. God shows us that true happiness
does not come from taking the easy road. God shows us real happiness comes from
meeting challenges and overcoming them. The beatitudes direct us along paths where
we would not usually find happiness. The heart represents the reason of the
beatitude. The compassion and love you earn from helping others. This is another
reason why I chose this beatitude honestly, you understand people and their strengths
and weaknesses. I chose to put hands shaking as a sign of respect. To be equal you
must treat others as equals as you would want to be treated. For example the saying
treat others as you want to be treated. This genuinely connected with
The European Monetary Union (EMU)
The European Monetary Union (EMU) The Euro as a Single Currency
Liberalizing trade is nothing new to the world, but we have never witnessed such a
vast economic integration between sovereign countries like the integration carried
out in the European Union. Customs duties between European countries started to
come down steadily in the early 1950s and were abolished in 1968 with the
introduction of a customs union and the implementation of the common external
tariff. The official proclamation of the single market on 1 January 1993 marked the
ending of non tariff barriers to trade between Member States.

A financial institution that fails to provide such services would run the risk of losing
business.
The introduction of the euro will have important implications not only for the Union
and its Member States but also for their partners. But while it will be a major event
for international monetary relations and the international monetary system, there will
be no abrupt change; nor is it likely to be destabilizing.
In order to prepare for the euro, and once it is in place, Member States need to
follow sound economic policies based on low inflation, healthy public finances and
stable monetary conditions. These rules of good economic management are the
recipe for low interest rates, strong investment growth, and therefore high growth
and job creation. Firms across the world and not just in Europe will benefit from
these improved growth prospects. The strength of Europe as a trade partner will
open new prospects for exporters in the rest of the world. Foreign companies
especially will benefit, because there will be only one market to penetrate rather than
15. Therefore, the costs of doing business in Europe will go down significantly,
fostering competition and lowering prices across the Union.
The international role of the euro will probably become evident first in the European
zone of influence, that is in those countries which have

Shin Buddhists : Zen is not the answer
On October 24, 2015 the New York Buddhist Church was holding an Autumn Festival
Service. Amanda and I attended the event from 12 4 pm. This Buddhist Church in
particular is Jodoshinshu Buddhism which originated in Japan. This type of
Buddhism is also called Shin Buddhism for short, within the school of True Pure
Land Buddhism, which is based on Mahayana Buddhism. The main temple is in
Kyoto, Japan and was founded by Shinran Shonin. This type of Buddhism is
practiced widely in Japan. The New York City location in particular was established
in 1938 by Reverend Hozen Seki and his wife, Satomi.(NYBC)
The outside of the church is very humble in appearance. It doesn t look like a place
of worship at all from the outside, but the statue of Shinran Shonin in the front makes
the building seem particularly important as you pass by. As we ascended the stairs,
there was a small garden of flowers surrounding the Shinran Statue, which survived
the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. There was a hand painted sign that said Autumn
Festival hanging from the front fence. The foundation of the church is slightly
elevated as well.
On the inside, there is a lobby with stairs going up and down, and an entrance to
another room. Here it was lined with tables of food and merchants and a silent
auction of traditional Japanese items and souvenirs. The majority of the people filling
the room were
Hamlet And Family Dysfunctional In William Shakespeare
s...
Hamlet..? We all know, and have heard of the great play, and book of the famous
tragedy that was made by Shakespeare. Some debate to see the story as a good
piece of art to something that teaches and also reveals some traits that people have.
When we all think of hamlet I believe we think of a crazy time were a king was
killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a king who had an insane
family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of things when I
look at it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed
in a way that the world is not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family
disfunction, distrust and mistrust within each other, and just straight up
corruption. People need to understand that this play holds deadly truths and lies,
but also a handful of passion, sadness, and the need of love. But sometimes love
can come with piece. A powerful word to describe the Hamlet family is very
dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules out there hope of trusting one another and
depending on the family to even be a family. In the book Hamlet as you read
through the pages, you will begin to see that. The whole family will rarely sit with
each other and just enjoy the presence of their company without being suspicious of
some accusation that just happens to be brought up, it s as if to call it a big family
dysfunction. Having a family is really big part of growing up and when your father
dies, as
Culture Of Japan Culture
Modern day Japan s culture is mainly like the the U.S. in many ways for example
some of there music is called J Pop which is like our modern day Music the also
goes by Pop some J Pop singers will include Ayumi Hamasaki and many others. In
the us pop singers will be noticed by the name of Taylor Swift or Katy Perry. Even
though Japan tries to modernize themselves ads best as the could the still use their
language that they used long ago. They still have their ancient furniture that their
great grandparents used before their time time of existence but it is mainly used
for decoration. Japan culture is like many other Asian culture such as using
chopsticks and their religious beliefs nut is is also different in many ways. For
example Japan just like China are very religious which is caused by Japan
absorbing the word of there god through Korea and China. That lead to going a
long time isolated from the outside world. There main two religions were Shinto
and Buddhism. Both religions were brought to Japan by other countries but
Buddhism is practiced more because it was brought to Japan first and it is still
practiced to this day. The Japanese culture to this day still believes in giving their
kids the best lunch as possible for example schools will serve a doe based bread
covered in egg and cinnamon and the kids love it this dish is called nostalgic or
sweet bread in english. Japan schools take learning just as serious as they do lunch
Japan has the highest children suicide
Critical Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
The Beat Generation is a literary movement during the 1950s that consisted of male
authors including the widely known Allen Ginsberg, who explored American culture
in their poems. The Beat Generation could be described as misogynistic and
patriarchal due to their exclusion of women and concerns confined to only male
outcasts. In Allen Ginsbergs 1956 Howl, he brings his audience s attention to male
outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl , Amy
Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated
culture through the allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza
form, and utilizing diction to convey a woman s perspective antithetically to Allen
Ginsberg s original.
In Amy Newman s Howl , she alludes to Sylvia Plath, an American female poet, who
is acknowledged for her hardships as a outcasted female in the poetry world due to
her oppressive marriage. Newman illustrates Plath as, [a] star spangled lost in her
housebound Eden curse with orchards and a million gossipy daffodils, writing and
nursing and not on the lists... (Newman). In Allen Ginsberg s original Howl he
adverts to male poets he admires of his time, opposingly Newman emulates
Ginsberg s technique and alludes to a feminist iconic poet Sylvia Plath. Newman
implements a biblical allusion referencing The Garden of Eden to depict Plath as a
successful female poet who was metaphorically locked in her household; where a

How Is Twilight Related To Gothic Literature
Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer was the first part of a four book series that
begun in 2005. The story begins with a girl and a vampire falling in love, and was
the first series in a while to bring vampires back into the lime light. The girl,
Elisabeth Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, have a complicated love that
although they are destined to be together, everything is working against them to do
otherwise. Throughout the work of literature, although it is a modern day love story,
Twilightdisplays many gothic characteristics in its writing including the plot and the
role of the woman character throughout the story. Just like any other supernatural
creatures, vampires originated from literature. Vampire s were first seen... Show more

In Twilight, although there are some instances where vampires hunt humans for
food, the vampires in this story do not. The natural instinct of vampires is to feed
on human blood, in which case, in Twilight the vampires have red eyes. Those
which wish to be peaceful and allow humans to live amongst them, like the Cullen
s family who Edward is part of, have golden brown eyes. When it is time for
Edward to feed, his eyes turn a darker and darker brown color and become light
once his hunger is quenched by not humans, but by animals. This is also seen in
another piece of literature when the Countess from The Lady of the House of Love.
She attempts to quench her thirst for blood by feeding on rabbits, although this
situation is different, the rabbits hold her over until she is able to get her hands on a
Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
Should students wear school uniforms? This is a topic that has been thoroughly
argued, yet to no prevail on either side. I believe school uniforms overall impact
children and the education community negatively. There are many strong reasons to
turn down this policy. These include how the uniforms effect the children and their
learning, the sneakiness behind school administrations who utilize this system, and
how the children feel about the uniforms.
First, is how the uniforms affect the children in a negative way. I know a family
just a few houses up the street whose kids go to a Catholic school. Religion set
aside, they have to wear uniforms to school. Often I see them getting out of the car,
ripping off their bows and ties with a sort of disgust. My friend from that family,
Aaron, states on the topic, They are uncomfortable, which actually distracts me
more from learning and paying attention. This shows how school uniforms affect
the learning environment negatively and impact children in a negative way.
Everyone has heard the phrase, if you get hurt it s your own fault. But what if you
never get the chance to be hurt? You ll never learn. It s the same way with
something as simple as clothing. If children wear vulgar clothing to school then you
can talk to them and tell them it s wrong. It is bad preparation for the real world if
we are telling children what to do, rather than letting them learn to better prepare
themselves for the real world.
Next, is the sneakiness behind the administration and their altered statistics. Long
beach California is a town that incorporates school uniforms into their schooling. The
district claims the academic success and low violence rates are due to the school
uniforms. They did leave out the other improvements in their districts including,
promotion of conflict resolution, peer mediation, and parental involvement. The
superintendent of this district made a comment to the Harvard Education Letter
stating, It is really hard to know exactly what is causing the positive effect. This
shows how districts are hiding other information to promote how well uniforms fix
problems when in reality, it could be many things. The American Civil Liberties

Appalachia is a 205,000 square mile region that follows the spine of the Appalachian
Mountains stretching from southern New York to northern Mississippi. It is home to
more than 25 million people.
Appalachia Mountains are rich in natural resources, containing an abundant number
of coal, timber, oil, gas, and water (Daugneaux 1981). These natural resources have
historically influenced the economic characteristics of the region. The region s
economy has been highly dependent on mining, forestry, agriculture, chemical
industries, and heavy industry, among which coal mining appears to be the largest
financial contributor to the economy (Appalachia s Economy). However, the mining

In Jan. 2011, the EPA decided to veto the dumping of waste from the Spruce No. 1
Mine. But the agency s efforts have so far been rebuffed by the courts as an
overreach: Under the weird legal regime that governs mining, it s the Army Corps of
Engineers, not the EPA, which has the ultimate say so over those permits. In 2012,
the D.C. district court ruled that EPA lacked authority to veto the permit after the
Corps had issued it. However, in fact EPA s decision is based on evidence from
scientific research on serious environmental harm from mining. In May 2013, a
coalition of Appalachian and environmental groups petitioned the EPA to set a
numeric water quality standard under the Clean Water Actto protect streams from
pollution caused by mountaintop removal mining . They claimed that State politics
and industry pressure have so far failed to end this pollution without such a standard
and more and more streams and communities who rely on those waters are left
vulnerable. We need EPA to act now. The EPA s authority over the Clean Water Act
in respect to Spruce Mine No. 1 was finally affirmed by the Supreme Court in March

The Dead
In the novel The Dead, Gabriel Conroy, who is the nephew of Julia and Kate

He was attracted by thelonely figure of his wife. A woman, standing in the shadow
also. It is his wife. It isgrace and mystery, just like a symbol. It is his wife. The
reason why he was attracted by the figure of his wife is because it is his own
shadow, his heart shadow:standing alone on the high stairs, forgetting time and
space, immersing in his own grief in. He is also eager to know whathis wife is
thinking about. Gabriel had not gone to the door with the others. He was in a dark
part of the hall gazing up the staircase. A woman was standing near the top of the
first flight, in the shadow also. He could not see her face but he could see the terra
cotta and salmon pink panels of her skirt which the shadow made appear black and
white. It was his wife. She was leaning on the banisters, listening to something.
Gabriel was surprised at her stillness and strained his ear to listen also. But he
could hear little save the noise of laughter and dispute on the front steps, a few
chords struck on the piano and a few notes of a man s voice singing. (Joyce, 144)

Since then the demand for young girls has rocket through the skies. Many believe
that the problem persists because Westerners go to third world countries such as
Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam where sex tourism is highly known.
Recently, a search discovered that local men also have a high demand for young girls.
Inclusive, many villages in Southeast Asia have several brothels. Astonishing to
many, the members of those communities in fact accept such places where prostitution
occurs because in those cultures women are subject as inferiors (Meade). Modern
Slavery as many call it has carried on in our world for many years and we still need
to overcome it. Today, sadly, child sex trafficking in Southeast Asia is alarming.
According to the Borjen Project, the World Health Organization estimates that in
Thailand there are currently two million sex workers, eighty percent of whom are
women under 18 years. One third of the victims in prostitution were children (Human
Trafficking). Most of the victims of sex trafficking are children and women from
minorities. Ethnic minorities and women and girls from the northern Hill tribes are
especially vulnerable due to their lack of citizenship (Human Trafficking). Legal
status counts for the number one reason why people are trafficked since they do not
count with any legal protection from any law and government. In addition, since the
minorities and many other ethnic groups do not obtain citizenship from the

Southern Gothic Literature
Southern Gothic Literature is a subgenre of literature that took place in the nineteenth
century, inspired by Gothic writing from the previous century (Surber Study.com). In
Gothic writing authors oftentimes wanted to bring to light the conflicts they realized
were occurring at the moment (Surber Study.com). It was one of the most commonly
written genres during that time. Containing very depressing stories, oftentimes in the
horror category, Southern GothicLiterature focuses on deep feelings and shocking,
spooky endings rather than the common happy fairytale ending we are all usually
accustomed to. Generally, the setting of Southern Gothic Literature will be down

because her first name was Joy and her last name is Hopewell (hope), but she has

Patricia Hill Collins Matrix Of Domination
In order to understand the meaning of what Patricia Hill Collins calls the matrix of
domination it is necessary to consider how identity politics; such as civil rights,
feminism, and the LGBT movement could be considered a response to domination.
Domination are forms of power evident in control, exclusion, and discrimination.
Patricia Hill Collins ideas of intersectionality and the matrix of domination are
important because they present an analysis claiming that systems of race, social class,
gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nation, and age form mutually constructing features of
social organization, which shape Black women s experiences and, in turn, are shaped
by Black women (Collins, 2000).

There are two main parts to any matrix. The first would include the specific systems
by which a person experiences oppression, for black women it would be, race and
gender. The way these two systems come together is historically and socially specific.
(Collins, 2000). The second part of the matrix would include the intersecting systems
of oppression and how they are specifically organized through four domains of power:
structural, disciplinary, hegemonic, and interpersonal.
The structural domain consists of social structures such as law, polity, religion, and
the economy. One example is the right to vote, denied to blacks. History has shown
that structural domain changes very slowly. More often than not it only changes
when there has been a large social movement, such as the Civil War and the crisis of
the 1950s and 1960s in the United States.
The disciplinary domain is about oppression and refers to the bureaucracy and
established organizations in our society that basically control human behavior.
Racism and sexism is covered up by these organizations in our

Theory and the Nursing Process The theoretical basis for public and community
nurses began in the nineteenth century with Florence Nightingale. Nightingale
believed in the prevention and surveillance of diseases. She further believed that a

more prevalent with a good environment for instance providing adequate ventilation,
clean water, warmth, light, and cleanliness during the Crimean War (Allender, Rector,

of the nursing and education discipline to promote a health community and protect
the population from illness, communicable diseases, injury, and death. The challenges

The use of the survey by the community and public health nurses to identify problems
and develop a plan of action. The development of education programs by employing
the Knowles principles to reach out to the adult learner.
The mission of community and public health nursing is related back to the work of
Florence Nightingale. Her observation that good environment leads to good health
and bad environment leads to bad health.

The Three Types Of Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer related to the ovaries. It currently accounts for
approximately 3% of all cancers in women. Ovaries are comprised of three types of
cells, each of them being able to differentiate into a type of cancer. These three types
are epithelial, germ, and stromal cells. The most common type of ovarian canceris
derived from the epithelial cells. According to the American Cancer Society, ovarian
cancer is the leading cause of death from all types of cancer that are related to the
female reproductive system. Moreover, it is estimated that approximately 55% of
women diagnosed with ovarian cancer die in the first 5 years of diagnosis.
However, if the tumor is diagnosed before the age of 65, this percentage decreases.
Ovarian Cancer Symptoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More importantly, most patients who suffer from ovarian cancer do not develop any
kind of symptoms in the early stages. Unfortunately, due to this asymptomatic onset,
ovarian cancer is usually diagnosed at a later stage, meaning it has already caused
significant damage to the surrounding tissues. In rare cases, ovarian cancer is only
diagnosed when it has already metastasized.
When symptoms do appear, they vary from patient to patient. The majority of
ovarian cancer symptoms are nonspecific, meaning that they could appear in other
conditions as well. Having any of the symptoms does not mean that cancer is
present. Due to the lack of routine tests for ovarian cancer, it is recommended that
women with family history of ovarian cancer should perform regular doctor visits
and even genetic testing in order to assess the risk of ovarian cancer
Determining The Density Of Liquid Layers Or Purifying...
Introduction Microscale involves using smaller amounts of chemicals and solids.
Therefore, the purpose is to determine the density, solubility, recrystallization,
extraction, separation, and drying of products by using small quantities. The mass of
volume was determined by using the density formula: Density= Weight (g) / volume
(mL). Solubilityis defined as the extent to which a substance is soluble.
Crystallization is a technique used for purifying solid compounds. The percent
recovery determined how much of the substance would remain after purification by
calculating: (amount of pure substance collected) / (amount of impure substance
began with) x 100. The separation of two liquid layers or purifying organic reaction
products is identified as extraction and is used to establish a state of equilibrium.
Discussion The densities of water and Hexane were determined by finding the
weight of water and hexane dispensed. The calculated density for water as seen in
Table 1 was 1.12g/ml. However, according to ACD/Labs (ChemSpider) the density
of water is 1.0g/mL. The difference between waters actual density and the density
found may be due to an error in the scale. The error may be due to the air flow
being blocked underneath the scale also resulting in an unbalanced scale. On the
other hand, the density of hexane was found to be 0.712g/ml and Sigma Aldrich
states that the density is 0.65g/mL. The density of Hexane is, therefore, also seen to
be less than what was found

Human And Social Development Level Of Development
Originally, the proverb what gets measured gets managed is applied to the
business field. However, in this essay, the writer tries to explain this principle in
the social development level. At first, this essay argue the reason why we need to
measure the level of development, it is because producing measurements about an
activity gives you a handle on it, a way to improve it. This paper goes on to
critically examine the varied ways to measure development. A developed country is
one with a high Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, as defined by the World
Bank. But this does not tell the whole story, country s level of development is not a
fixed state. In addition to the factors of economic growth, human and social
development also playing an important role. In the end, the advantage and
disadvantage of these methods are summarized, some points need to be studied more
are also given. What is development? Measuring development is about how advanced
one country is compared to other countries, or to the same country in the past. But to
answer this question, one must first have a conceptual framework about what
development means. Though the term development usually refers to economic
growth, it can apply to political, social structure as well. It is true that economic
growth may produce greater income in a country. But history offers a number of
example, by increasing nation s wealth, without improving the average living
standard. This happened in oil producing

Catholic religion is one of the oldest religions, highly practiced in the United States.
It is a religion with a set of beliefs such as practicing celibacy among the priests and

Purpose of Interview: Determine the requirements of the new information system and

Questions:
1.What are the current issues with the existing network and information system at
XYZ Hospital?
One of the first things that comes to mind is the administrative and clinical staff are
complaining about how slow the network is. With an increase in staff over the years
at the hospital and an increase in the demand of the network and the existing system
is struggling to keep up. Staff are complaining about the weak and slow speed of the
network at the hospital. Along with the problems of the network, staff are also
having a hard time of being able keep patient medical records up to date and patient

2.What features should the new system have that the existing system does not
currently possess?
The hospital s existing information system and network were designed many years
ago when all that it was mainly used for was sending email, using the internet for
research, or saving files to a file server. We would like the new information system
and network upgrade to take advantage of being able to have an information system

medical inventory can be inputted into a patient inventory database to keep track of
what has or hasn t been used for patients, where patient billing is accurate and kept

The Benefits of the Proposed California High Speed Rail
California High Speed Rail High speed rail transportation has become an important
issue in California that could potentially help our current transportation system and
other environmental issues that need to be dealt with. This is an important issue to
look into because currently our transportation system could be a lot more efficient
using high speed rail instead of just the current car and air system that we have right
now. Because of this there are a lot of potential benefits from the economic side of
putting a high speed rail system in California from saving time, money, and fast
efficient mobility throughout the state. These benefits also include a stimulus
towards the state s economy in forms of employment and income growth due towards

environmental benefits of a high speed transportation is a decrease in pollution, using
less nonrenewable resources such as oil, and decreasing the amount of other modes
of transportation that currently need to be used. It is controversial though because of
the cost of implementing such high speed transportation, versus the current
transportation system that we already have. These increasing costs of implementing
the have current plan for high speed rail have caused great concern because of costs
such high possible costs needed to implement compared to its benefits. My problem
that I have come up with is it cost effective and beneficial for the state of
Female Gender And Sexuality Constructed Through Sport
How is female gender and sexuality constructed through sport? Within sport, as
throughout society, gender differences exist. The socially constructed phenomenon
of gender dictates a dichotomous system whereby females are feminine and males
are masculine. Focusing on females specifically, society determines the feminine
traits and roles ascribed to this gender. Being domesticated, slender, passive and
heterosexual are a part of the desirable appearance that society has formed
surrounding femininity (Wolf, 1991). On the other side of the dichotomy is the
masculine realm that sport plays into. Sport is fuelled by muscle, power and
aggressiveness, which are behaviours and images associated to masculinity. Sport
therefore, defies all existing female gender ideals. It would be assumed that
females have no place within this institution due to the gender clash. However,
female athletes do exist, and many are very successful. For this to work, sport has
established and reinforced the social constructions of gender that exist in society.
Female athletes are viewed as inferior and are pushed into gender appropriate sports.
Furthermore, they are often labeled as masculine until they can prove otherwise, and
so great attempts are made to reassert femininity. The stigma associated to being
masculine or homosexual for female athletes is so great that many have become
irrationally fearful of this label. The sexualisation of the female body and overt
displays of heterosexuality are used in
Why Did Omarina Grow So Much Better Than Her
Brother...
1)The major reason Omarina was so much more successful than her brother would
be because she had the help and support from her peers and teachers while she was
going through hard times. While her brother didn t have any sort of help, and
therefore he became a troubled kid.Evidence towards this is shown in the film
multiple times. The first time is when the film shows how an intervention was done
for her as she was not meeting the academic and attendance standards. The second
major reason she performed much better than her brother would be because how
her teacher, Catherine Miller would provide Omarina lots of academic and
emotional support and was a mentor to her. An example of this would be when
Cathline said this I felt as though it was really imperative to keep very constant
contact just to make sure that the adjustment was going well, but also knowing that
you know, many people were rooting for her to be successful here in the Bronx This
just proves how close the two were.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the age when Omarina got her intervention Omarlin started becoming a bad
kid, he was hanging around streets and causing trouble.Proof of this is when the
narrator of the documentary said this In the summer after 6th grade, Omarina s twin,
Omarlin, started hanging out on the streets and getting in trouble. His mother had
him moved to another school, thinking he d be safer in a different neighborhood.
But when we met him at the end of 8th grade, Omarlin was rarely attending school
and his high school plans were uncertain Therefore this proves the fact that vital
support, while a child is underachieving academically and socially, is needed in order
for a student to be
Is The Difference Between Henry David Thoreau And E. B.
White
Walden Pond, located in Concord, Massachusetts, was a place of inspiration for
two well known authors, Henry David Thoreau and E.B. White. Although, they
wrote about the same place, their experiences were a century apart. Thoreau
visited the lake in 1854 where technology still wasn t as advanced as it was in 1939
when White visited the historical site leading to a different feel for the place. The
authors style of approaching the view of the lake has both similar and different
effects when using point of view, imagery, and logos. In comparison, Thoreau and
White use the first person point of view in their writings, but in contrast they do not
have same writing style. Thoreau writes about his surroundings and writes with
serenity. With many details he describes how the forest brings calm to your soul and
you feel connected to God and there is nothing to really care for. He writes without a
real purpose, it seems as if he is rambling to the audience about his thoughts and
feelings indicating them that they should live in simplicity. Thoreau has no real
interest in convincing his audience to go live in the... Show more content on

Thoreau s main message in the story was that humans are supposed to live a simple
life and that getting closer to nature would help the human race reach that simplicity
in life. He compares us as mad ants that are always busy, rushing and we always have
something to do. Thoreau goes into details when he describes the mountains and the
morning dew and his morning routines and with the vivid vision he connects it all
back to serenity. White, on the other hand, uses imagery to describe how technology
has advanced since Thoreau had been there. He informs Thoreau that WaldenPond
had become the states property and there are signs all over the site such as no
swimming in the pond and that the pond now had water fountains and people would
take their boats to the
Good Morning Midnight By Jean Rhys
Jean Rhys, the author of Good Morning Midnight, wrote about women with sense
and sensitivity in mostly controversial ways. Rhys was born in Dominica in
eighteen ninety four. She came to England at the age of sixteen and hovered on
many jobs before she moved to Paris, where she began writing and was found by
Ford Maddox Ford.
About the essay question and theme, of the representation of women in the city, I
believe Rhys exposes the restrictive attitudes places upon women in the town rather
than perpetuating them. Her novels, often showed women as underdogs out to
exploit their sexualities, which shows they were ahead of their time. Once Good
Morning Midnight was written she lived reclusively and was largely forgotten.
In Good Morning Midnight Sasha s story moves back and forth, her outlook
shifting from her time in London to Paris. She remembers when she was married,
to the time she was alone. Her life in Paris moves between a range of cafes and bars,
places where she was known. And some she wants to stay away from, and areas ...

For example, the woman at the bar gives me one of those looks: what do you want
her, you? We don t cater for tourists here, not our clientele . This sort of attitude is
linked to stereotypes and prejudice. The barkeeps know nothing of Jensen
personally by they automatically calculate the person she is from the way she
appears. This could suggest that Rhys acknowledges that it is not just men who treat
women unequally, but it is also women who degrade one another in the novel too. It
also is a sudden example of female on female hostility. Sternlicht sees that women in
her earlier novels are always hostile, and the protagonist is hostile in return or they
repress anger or flee in tears . (Sternlicht, 98). and throughout the novel in her sour
encounters with other women, the reader see s Jansen s prosperity in all three

Compare And Contrast The Government Of The People
And...
The people of America and their government each owe their commitment to obey
certain obligations to each other. Since each component of the nation must work
together in order for it to function properly, the people and those governing them each
have essential duties they must obey to sustain an efficiently operating country. The
governmentof the people, by the people, for the people. (Lincoln) both serves the
people and is served by the people.
The government is responsible for serving and representing its people. Because the
people of today generally understand that no human being is born superior or inferior
to any other, the government must promote equal opportunity and rights for all. It is
commonly agreed that all men and women
Jacket Of Excellence Research Paper
By far, my greatest academic achievement is the Jacket of Excellence that Venice
High School awards for topping students. Students earn this award by having an
overall 3.75 GPA weighted and never had more than three unsatisfactory grades on
final report cards. Furthermore, receiving the Jacket of Excellence award proves that
no matter the obstacles in my life, I can overcome them and still succeed in school.
Throughout my high schoolcareer, I ve gone through asperous situations, but this hasn
t stopped me from trying in school. So, the Jacket of Excellence represents
multitudinous accomplishments. During the second semester of my freshman year, I

Yum Brand Essay
Overview/ Yum! Brand in China;
On a global scale, YUM brand is the largest restaurant company in the world with 13
billion in total revenue in 2014. In the year 2014, Yum! Brand has opened over 1000
international units with an average of 3 units opening a day. This rate of expansion is
unheard of in the modern restaurant business.
Yum! Brand first entered the Chinese market through opening a KFCstore in Beijing,
the first of its kind in China, in 1987. Since 1987, YUM! Brand has successfully
established a firm foundation in the competitive Chinese market, it is the largest food
delivery service in China and is unparalleled in terms of market share against any fast
food business in China. Currently YUM! Brand has over 3,000 KFC stores in 650
cities and nearly 500 pizza huts in 120 cities.
This phenomenal rate of expansion in China alone is the result of a mixture of
Pricing and Marketing strategies specifically designed for the China market.
Starting from 1987, the first KFC store was hugely attractive to Chinese citizens. It
mainly targeted consumers who are willing to spend more to get a taste of Western
cuisine therefore the price of products in the restaurant are above that of normal
Chinese food at that time. The first restaurant was a huge success, serving on
average 9,000 customers per day and YUM brand was able to break even within the
first year.
Over the next five years, Yum slowly opened new restaurants. We wanted to go faster,
but the government held us
The Controversy Over The Decline Of Newspapers
There have been some controversies among the citizens of the United States as we
enter the technological age and throw away some of our old stuff. One of these old
things are newspapers. In today s age, someone s stance on newspapers may be
completely different than someone else s. Someone who grew up around
newspapers may say they are completely relevant and need to be protected. Rather
than, someone who grew up around the decline of newspapers may say that they
are only killing the trees and mean nothing anymore; they are useless. In my
opinion, in indifferent on the decline of newspapers. I think they preserve history
and are very interesting to look back upon and see what life was like before my
time. However, I also think that with the internet era going on, they are kind of
useless in today s society. Everything nowadays is online; newspapers, articles,
books, magazines, etc. If we live in a world where nearly everything is online, it
would seem kind of out of place to have something that was not.... Show more content

I think they are too old to have in today s society. Not many people buy them
anymore nor do many people read them. If they do not cancel the distribution of
newspapers now, they will in around twenty years, when all of the technological era
people have grown up. I think that it is very unusual development in the digital era
(Yu; line 11 14). I simply think that they waste paper and are a waste of time. Other
people who may have grown around newspapers their whole life may say otherwise,
The U.s. National Debt
The U.S. national debt is very large at more than three quarters the size of the
economy and growing federal spending, especially on entitlements, is quickly
driving the debt to damaging levels. Federal spending was about 23 percent of the
GDP in 2012 far above the historical average of 20.2 percent. It is projected to surge
to nearly 36 percent in less than one generation. The government debtmust be limited
in some way or else our economy will face devastating consequences. The
government debt has had its highs and lows throughout history in comparison to the
GDP, and to reduce it, we must minimize spending on entitlements such as Social
Security and Medicare.
Since its inception, the United States of America has had fluctuating amounts of
debt. High points usually follow in the wake of war or recessions, and low points
usually occur in times of relative stability in the U.S. Recently, however, the
United States has amassed over 18 trillion dollars in debt. The national debt has
been rising steadily since the 1970 s and experienced a large growth around the
year 2009. From the years 1929 to 2009, the Debt to GDP ratio was approximately
48 percent on average (excluding the years within the World War II era), while from
2009 2014 the Debt to GDP ratio was approximately 97 percent. This increase was
most likely the result of increased defense/war spending, the Obama s American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and the Troubled Asset Relief Program. All of these

Introduction And Business History And Description
Introduction and Business History/Description In 1894, the Hershey Chocolate
Company began in Lancaster, Pennsylvania when Milton Hershey decided to begin
producing chocolate coating for his caramels. In 1900, Hershey expanded their
business by producing more goods. Once Hershey began mass production, they
were able to minimize production costs and make high quality milk chocolate.
After this new production model was established, Hershey began to expand its
facilities throughout the northeastern United States. They also increased their
supply chain efficiency by building a new facility in close proximity to ports and
dairy farms that supply Hershey with its raw materials. In 1907, Hershey s added
its famous KISSES chocolates to its product line. The company ended up
trademarking the iconic plume at the top. More products were added within the
next 20 years, including the Mr. Goodbar Candy Bar, Hershey s Syrup, Hershey s
chocolate chips and more. These new products protected jobs and maintained
profitability during the Great Depression. During World War I and II, Hershey
provided milk chocolate bars to soldiers, including survival ration bars during World
War II. During the war, Hershey earned five Army Navy E Production Awards for its
offerings to the war effort. In 1956, Hershey purchased H.B. Reese Candy Company,
who produced chocolate peanut butter cups. In 1968, Hershey Chocolate Company
renamed itself to Hershey Foods Corporation. Along with this

  • 2. My Happiest Moment Have dinner with your family or walk in the park with friends. If you re so inclined, put in some good hours at the office or at your favorite charity, temple or church. Work on your jump shot or your child s model trains. With luck, you ll find happiness by the by. If not, your time won t be wasted. You may even bring a little joy to the world, (McMahon Par 12). One of the happiest moments of my life was when I was with my family, sitting around the tv watching a funny movie. We were all having a good time and were very happy. This made me loveto spend time with my family, because we shared laughter and enjoyed each other s company. So therefore, I agree with McMahon that being less selfish and spending time with the people you love and doing what you love brings happiness. Someone who is a good example of doing what you love and surrounding yourself with people you love to make you happy, is Sam Berns. was an American teen who had progeria and helped raise awareness about the disease. He aired a showing of How to live a happy life. He talked about how he was sick and told he was going to die. Sam told a story about how he wanted to be in band and play the drum but because the illness made him weak and small, he was not able to lift the drum let alone march with it. But this did not stop sam from doing what he loves, in fact he and team of engineers designed a drum so light that sam could march and play in the band. He did not let little setbacks affect him from doing

My whole counsel made up of the original seven Protectors had decided to get theirs today. I just happened to be the last one to agree to it and have mine finished. Even Atom who had to do his own and was usually the squamation one got his before him but this was all his idea. Well Anna what do you think, my bleach blonde ice blue eyed friend from Antarctica asked me. I looked down at my reddened right shoulder to exam his work. Cypruss loved all his children but Tibolt was defiantly the favorite. Cypruss and I have agreed to be friends so that Benders Academy will run smoothly, I replied. So you re working with the principal to the school you re not even going to, he pointed out. I sighed, Atom you know I can learn nothing from Benders Academy and plus I still have Fossilsalive to look after. I you love to go to school but online school suits me better. I get it but you ll be missed, he through his hands up in defense. Well I m glad to have you all out of my hair for seven hours five days out of the week, I said
  • 4. A Short Note On Hypertension And Secondary Hypertension The reason why I selected to do my paper on hypertension is, hypertension is very common. About 70 million people in the United States have hypertension (High Blood Pressure Frequently Asked Questions , 2015). Another reason why I selected to write my paper on hypertension is I want to know why it is called the silent killer. I also want to know why it affect African Americans the most. Hypertension is defined as a blood pressure reading of 140/90mmHg (millimeters of mercury) or above. Blood pressure is the force blood exerts against your artery walls as it circulates through your body. When the left ventricle contract and expels blood into the aorta the pressure on the artery wall is called the systolic pressure. The more blood exerts on the artery wall the higher the blood pressure is. When the aortic valve close, avoiding blood from flowing back into the heart and the arteries readjust themselves is called diastolic pressure. When the heart is relaxed the pressure is at its lowest. The two kind of hypertension are primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension develop over many years and there is no known cause for it. Primary hypertension can be influenced by diet, heredity, obesity, stress, smoking and age (staff, 2015). Primary hypertension cannot be cured, but it can be controlled sometimes through diet, exercise, stress management, and medications. Secondary hypertension is caused by underlying condition such as obstructive sleep apnea, kidney
  • 5. Application Of A Smart Home ABSTRACT Residential area consume a lot of energy and electricity. The lack of energy resources give impact to the rise of energy cost, thus to have a convenient home is extremely important in the future. One of the way to reduce the costs in this issue is by using the energy efficiently. The idea of energy saving is applied in the concept of a smart home. This project aims to develop an algorithm to estimate the energy plans for future periods in a smart home in order to achieve energy efficiency. Using the Household Demand Side Management (DSM) systems, the total usage of energy in the future can be predicted according to the demand supply in the smart home. Furthermore, it is estimated that the simultaneousness between production and consumption of the electricity will be increasing. In this case, the house owner should be able to manage and plan to use the electricity wisely. Powerful tools such as MATLAB / Simulink allow the design, analysis and simulation of this project. This project will in divided into various stages including researching, experimenting, modelling, testing and designing in order to achieve the required objectives. • 7. Protein Phosphatase Receptor Analysis Its function is regulated by dopaminergic and glutaminergic receptors. When stimulated by dopaminergic receptors it is a potent inhibitor of PP1О± (Hemmings, 1984). In contrast, when stimulated by glutaminergic receptors, the inhibitory activity of DARPP 32 against PP1 is reduced (Halpain, 1990). DARPP 32 is regulated by brain derived neurotropic factor as well as the Akt pathway and CDK5 /p35 pathway (Stroppolo, 2001) (Bogush, 2007). Protein Phosphatase Inhibitor 2 Protein Phosphatase Inhibitor 2 (I 2) I 2 is a heat stable protein that can inhibit the catalytic subunits of PP1 (Huang, 1976). When unphosphorylated I 2 is inhibitory to PP1c however, phosphorylation of I 2 can induce PP1c activity (Cohen 2002). It has been shown to be important in cell cycle regulation and is found at the centrosomes during interphase (Eto, 2002). The consensus as to the purpose of I 2 is to act as a regulator of PP1 to control the kinase/PP1 balance and activate different cellular events. It has also been shown to play a role in tubulin acetylation in the cilium of retinal epithelial cells. Wang and Brautigan showed that I 2 localizes to the cilium of human retinal epithelial cells with PP1. RNAi knockdown of I 2 showed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to answer the question from the introduction How do such a small number of phosphatases regulate the phosphorylation of thousands of proteins while also allowing each protein to be regulated independently? PP1 has evolved mechanisms to bind numerous different subunits in order to function the way it needs. There are many more regulatory subunits than discussed above. The subunits discussed above are the major subunits involved in PP1 dynamics. It is a near certainty that more regulatory subunits will be discovered. If PP1 could only form a complex with one subunit at a time there are ~42 different holoenzyme structures possible with the subunits discussed
  • 8. Analysis Of Primo Levi s The Gray Zone Primo Levi s book, Survival in Auschwitz, examines how a select few managed to survive the inhumane and brutal treatment of the Jews in Auschwitz. The well known Italian Holocaust survivor, Primo Levi was only 24 years old, when he was captured and taken to a detention camp in Fossoli, before spending eleven months in Auschwitz. He, like so many other innocent Jews, was sent to die in the death camp but with a little bit luck and resourcefulness, he survived. In his essay, The Gray Zone Levi, writes privileged prisoners were a minority within the Lager [camp] population; nevertheless they represent a potent majority among survivors (The Gray Zone,117), where he examines the middle ground between Nazi soldiers and the Jewish prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone in the Lager is responsible for oneself, and no one could afford to help his or her neighbor because one act of kindness could get you killed. Levi shares the story of Alfred L, a successful young engineer, arrested and sent to Auschwitz. In his own country, L. was the director of an important factory chemical product and its name was (and is) well known in industrial circles throughout Europe (Levi 93). Primo Levi wants to make it clear to the reader that, for Alfred to reach the highest position of director and be able to survive the camps he had to be determined, motivated and intelligent. According to the author, Alfred always tried to separate himself from the rest of the HГ¤ftling and made an effort to keep himself clean and put together. He also made it a priority to always treat others with kindness and respect. Alfred did not give up hope like so many others, in the camps, he adapted to his situation the best way he could. He separated himself from the other prisoners and made himself known. He carried himself with discipline and respect, which made him an asset to the Nazis. By acting differently than the other prisoners, Alfred was able to get a better job as the technical head of the Chemical Kommando. According to Levi ... L. was able to earn all this show of prosperity with incredible tenacity, paying for his acquisitions

  • 13. Expressionism In Pink Panther When examining art, art theory can provide useful tools in understanding, appreciating, and extracting both superficial and deeper meanings from the work. It also assists in quantifying what art is; the case has been made that artistic license does not equate art, and boundaries help to create context and meaning. In Terry Barrett s book, Why is That Art?: Aestheticsand Criticism of Contemporary Art, he delves into art theory through the lens of realism, cognitivism, and expressionism, using contributions from theorists both ancient and modern. Renowned pop artist, Jeff Koons, presents something of an analytical conundrum in much of his art, as it can be analyzed through the lens of all three categories. His sculpture, Pink Panther, when analyzed through realism, provides a succinct reflection of many deeply ingrained cultural attitudes and expectations. The following will analyze Pink Panther using realism theory, offering a sample process of how such an analysis could occur. It will also subsequently evaluate the interpretation, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses that can be found when applying certain perspectives in art theory to a specific work of art. Realism Interpretation In Pink Panther, Koons used glazed porcelain to sculpt the image on the Pink Panther cartoon embracing a topless woman, who is holding her breast. The fluidity of line is realistic, but the reflective glaze renders the figures shiny like a plastic toy. This, combined with the array of bold
  • 14. Amy Lowell s Patterns Amy Lowell defines the hopeful liberty of women in the 20th century through a central theme in the poem Patterns . The woman s dreams of eluding from the boundaries that society has placed on her fritters away when she learns of her lover s untimely death. She restricts herself from feeling to make it seem as if there is not softness anywhere about her. Due to being constricted by whalebone and brocade, the speaker feels like she is forced to live up to the rules that society enforces upon her. The numerous images that the speaker uses in this poem like the fluid motions of the flowers and water drops, the dressand her daydreams of her lover all play an important part in developing the theme of Freedom. At the beginning of Patterns , the speaker illustrates daffodils dancing freely in the wind. This use of imagery is a tool to appeal to the audiences sense of sight, these flowers are given movement, and they are described as, blowing, and Fluttering in the breeze, This description produces a sense of flexibility. The womanhas a desire to be like the flowers, self confident and carefree. The second stanza of the poem begins with the woman describing the water in the marble fountain. The plashing of water drops demonstrates liquid in motion. She notices such little details in a fountain which shows how much the woman aspires to be free and able to move about as she wishes. The buoyant movement of the flowers and the water represents a way of life that

The bread and chalice are just a microscopic portion of the satisfaction that you will grab from being in union with God. People need God to guide them into true happiness and satisfaction. God shows us that true happiness does not come from taking the easy road. God shows us real happiness comes from meeting challenges and overcoming them. A financial institution that fails to provide such services would run the risk of losing business. The introduction of the euro will have important implications not only for the Union and its Member States but also for their partners. But while it will be a major event for international monetary relations and the international monetary system, there will be no abrupt change; nor is it likely to be destabilizing. In order to prepare for the euro, and once it is in place, Member States need to follow sound economic policies based on low inflation, healthy public finances and stable monetary conditions. These rules of good economic management are the recipe for low interest rates, strong investment growth, and therefore high growth and job creation. Firms across the world and not just in Europe will benefit from these improved growth prospects. The strength of Europe as a trade partner will open new prospects for exporters in the rest of the world. Foreign companies especially will benefit, because there will be only one market to penetrate rather than 15. Therefore, the costs of doing business in Europe will go down significantly, fostering competition and lowering prices across the Union. The international role of the euro will probably become evident first in the European zone of influence, that is in those countries which have

Amanda and I attended the event from 12 4 pm. This Buddhist Church in particular is Jodoshinshu Buddhism which originated in Japan. This type of Buddhism is also called Shin Buddhism for short, within the school of True Pure Land Buddhism, which is based on Mahayana Buddhism. The main temple is in Kyoto, Japan and was founded by Shinran Shonin. This type of Buddhism is practiced widely in Japan. The New York City location in particular was established in 1938 by Reverend Hozen Seki and his wife, Satomi.(NYBC) The outside of the church is very humble in appearance. It doesn t look like a place of worship at all from the outside, but the statue of Shinran Shonin in the front makes the building seem particularly important as you pass by. As we ascended the stairs, there was a small garden of flowers surrounding the Shinran Statue, which survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. There was a hand painted sign that said Autumn Festival hanging from the front fence. The foundation of the church is slightly elevated as well. On the inside, there is a lobby with stairs going up and down, and an entrance to another room. Here it was lined with tables of food and merchants and a silent auction of traditional Japanese items and souvenirs. The majority of the people filling the room were
  • 19. Hamlet And Family Dysfunctional In William Shakespeare s... Hamlet..? We all know, and have heard of the great play, and book of the famous tragedy that was made by Shakespeare. Some debate to see the story as a good piece of art to something that teaches and also reveals some traits that people have. When we all think of hamlet I believe we think of a crazy time were a king was killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a king who had an insane family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of things when I look at it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed in a way that the world is not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family disfunction, distrust and mistrust within each other, and just straight up corruption. People need to understand that this play holds deadly truths and lies, but also a handful of passion, sadness, and the need of love. But sometimes love can come with piece. A powerful word to describe the Hamlet family is very dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules out there hope of trusting one another and depending on the family to even be a family. In the book Hamlet as you read through the pages, you will begin to see that. The whole family will rarely sit with each other and just enjoy the presence of their company without being suspicious of some accusation that just happens to be brought up, it s as if to call it a big family dysfunction. Having a family is really big part of growing up and when your father dies, as

Critical Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl The Beat Generation is a literary movement during the 1950s that consisted of male authors including the widely known Allen Ginsberg, who explored American culture in their poems. The Beat Generation could be described as misogynistic and patriarchal due to their exclusion of women and concerns confined to only male outcasts. In Allen Ginsbergs 1956 Howl, he brings his audience s attention to male outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl , Amy Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated culture through the allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza form, and utilizing diction to convey a woman s perspective antithetically to Allen Ginsberg s original. In Amy Newman s Howl , she alludes to Sylvia Plath, an American female poet, who is acknowledged for her hardships as a outcasted female in the poetry world due to her oppressive marriage. Newman illustrates Plath as, [a] star spangled lost in her housebound Eden curse with orchards and a million gossipy daffodils, writing and nursing and not on the lists... (Newman). In Allen Ginsberg s original Howl he adverts to male poets he admires of his time, opposingly Newman emulates Ginsberg s technique and alludes to a feminist iconic poet Sylvia Plath. Newman implements a biblical allusion referencing The Garden of Eden to depict Plath as a successful female poet who was metaphorically locked in her household; where a woman s place

  • 23. Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms Should students wear school uniforms? This is a topic that has been thoroughly argued, yet to no prevail on either side. I believe school uniforms overall impact children and the education community negatively. There are many strong reasons to turn down this policy. These include how the uniforms effect the children and their learning, the sneakiness behind school administrations who utilize this system, and how the children feel about the uniforms. First, is how the uniforms affect the children in a negative way. I know a family just a few houses up the street whose kids go to a Catholic school. Religion set aside, they have to wear uniforms to school. Often I see them getting out of the car, ripping off their bows and ties with a sort of disgust. My friend from that family, Aaron, states on the topic, They are uncomfortable, which actually distracts me more from learning and paying attention. This shows how school uniforms affect the learning environment negatively and impact children in a negative way. Everyone has heard the phrase, if you get hurt it s your own fault. But what if you never get the chance to be hurt? You ll never learn. It s the same way with something as simple as clothing. If children wear vulgar clothing to school then you can talk to them and tell them it s wrong. It is bad preparation for the real world if we are telling children what to do, rather than letting them learn to better prepare themselves for the real world. Next, is the sneakiness behind the administration and their altered statistics. Long beach California is a town that incorporates school uniforms into their schooling. The district claims the academic success and low violence rates are due to the school uniforms. They did leave out the other improvements in their districts including, promotion of conflict resolution, peer mediation, and parental involvement. The superintendent of this district made a comment to the Harvard Education Letter stating, It is really hard to know exactly what is causing the positive effect. This shows how districts are hiding other information to promote how well uniforms fix problems when in reality, it could be many things. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in Southern

In 2012, the D.C. district court ruled that EPA lacked authority to veto the permit after the Corps had issued it. Ovaries are comprised of three types of cells, each of them being able to differentiate into a type of cancer. These three types are epithelial, germ, and stromal cells. The most common type of ovarian canceris derived from the epithelial cells. According to the American Cancer Society, ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from all types of cancer that are related to the female reproductive system. • 32. Determining The Density Of Liquid Layers Or Purifying... Introduction Microscale involves using smaller amounts of chemicals and solids. Therefore, the purpose is to determine the density, solubility, recrystallization, extraction, separation, and drying of products by using small quantities. The mass of volume was determined by using the density formula: Density= Weight (g) / volume (mL). Solubilityis defined as the extent to which a substance is soluble. Crystallization is a technique used for purifying solid compounds. The percent recovery determined how much of the substance would remain after purification by calculating: (amount of pure substance collected) / (amount of impure substance began with) x 100. The separation of two liquid layers or purifying organic reaction products is identified as extraction and is used to establish a state of equilibrium. Discussion The densities of water and Hexane were determined by finding the weight of water and hexane dispensed. The calculated density for water as seen in Table 1 was 1.12g/ml. However, according to ACD/Labs (ChemSpider) the density of water is 1.0g/mL. The difference between waters actual density and the density found may be due to an error in the scale. The error may be due to the air flow being blocked underneath the scale also resulting in an unbalanced scale. On the other hand, the density of hexane was found to be 0.712g/ml and Sigma Aldrich states that the density is 0.65g/mL. The density of Hexane is, therefore, also seen to be less than what was found

However, in this essay, the writer tries to explain this principle in the social development level. At first, this essay argue the reason why we need to measure the level of development, it is because producing measurements about an activity gives you a handle on it, a way to improve it. This paper goes on to critically examine the varied ways to measure development. A developed country is one with a high Gross National Income (GNI) per capita, as defined by the World Bank. • 37. The Causes And Abuse Of The Catholic Church Catholic religion is one of the oldest religions, highly practiced in the United States. It is a religion with a set of beliefs such as practicing celibacy among the priests and nuns. Each and every state in America has several parishes and a bishop that oversees the operations of the churches in those said regions. For instance, in the State of Phoenix, there is a bishopwith several priests in every parish handling the operations of the churches. The Catholics follow a set of beliefs and traditions that mirror the morality in the society. However, these beliefs are being eroded by the some of the followers in various parts of the world. In fact, the Catholic Churchhas become a subject of serious allegations of child sexual abuseat the hands of the clergy. Several cases have occurred globally even the most high profile cases occurring in Europe and America. Majority of the people ha come forward and reported the incidents of clerical sexual misconducts. They have done so under investigative reporting talking about years of abuse on the part of the priests together with cover ups and patterns of secrecy by church officials that aided in allowing these accused priests in continuing to their ministries in the various parishes and this involved interaction with mirrors. Canonical, civil, and criminal sanctions have been directed to several bishops, priests, and even dioceses. However, there are those that have managed to escape the hands of justice and continue to engage in

  • 39. Information System And Network Infrastructure Upgrade At... Purpose of Interview: Determine the requirements of the new information system and network infrastructure upgrade at XYZ Hospital. Questions: 1.What are the current issues with the existing network and information system at XYZ Hospital? One of the first things that comes to mind is the administrative and clinical staff are complaining about how slow the network is. With an increase in staff over the years at the hospital and an increase in the demand of the network and the existing system is struggling to keep up. Staff are complaining about the weak and slow speed of the network at the hospital. Along with the problems of the network, staff are also having a hard time of being able keep patient medical records up to date and patient billing correct. 2.What features should the new system have that the existing system does not currently possess? The hospital s existing information system and network were designed many years ago when all that it was mainly used for was sending email, using the internet for research, or saving files to a file server. We would like the new information system and network upgrade to take advantage of being able to have an information system where all patient medical records can be updated on a continual basis, where medical inventory can be inputted into a patient inventory database to keep track of what has or hasn t been used for patients, where patient billing is accurate and kept up to date and accessible in real time. The Benefits of the Proposed California High Speed Rail California High Speed Rail High speed rail transportation has become an important issue in California that could potentially help our current transportation system and other environmental issues that need to be dealt with. This is an important issue to look into because currently our transportation system could be a lot more efficient using high speed rail instead of just the current car and air system that we have right now. Because of this there are a lot of potential benefits from the economic side of putting a high speed rail system in California from saving time, money, and fast efficient mobility throughout the state. These benefits also include a stimulus towards the state s economy in forms of employment and income growth due towards construction and implementation even if these aren t permanent jobs. Some environmental benefits of a high speed transportation is a decrease in pollution, using less nonrenewable resources such as oil, and decreasing the amount of other modes of transportation that currently need to be used. It is controversial though because of the cost of implementing such high speed transportation, versus the current transportation system that we already have. These increasing costs of implementing the have current plan for high speed rail have caused great concern because of costs such high possible costs needed to implement compared to its benefits. My problem that I have come up with is it cost effective and beneficial for the state of
  • 41. Female Gender And Sexuality Constructed Through Sport How is female gender and sexuality constructed through sport? Within sport, as throughout society, gender differences exist. The socially constructed phenomenon of gender dictates a dichotomous system whereby females are feminine and males are masculine. Focusing on females specifically, society determines the feminine traits and roles ascribed to this gender. Being domesticated, slender, passive and heterosexual are a part of the desirable appearance that society has formed surrounding femininity (Wolf, 1991). On the other side of the dichotomy is the masculine realm that sport plays into. Sport is fuelled by muscle, power and aggressiveness, which are behaviours and images associated to masculinity. Sport therefore, defies all existing female gender ideals. It would be assumed that females have no place within this institution due to the gender clash. However, female athletes do exist, and many are very successful. For this to work, sport has established and reinforced the social constructions of gender that exist in society. Female athletes are viewed as inferior and are pushed into gender appropriate sports. Furthermore, they are often labeled as masculine until they can prove otherwise, and so great attempts are made to reassert femininity. The stigma associated to being masculine or homosexual for female athletes is so great that many have become irrationally fearful of this label. The sexualisation of the female body and overt displays of heterosexuality are used in

Why Did Omarina Grow So Much Better Than Her Brother... 1)The major reason Omarina was so much more successful than her brother would be because she had the help and support from her peers and teachers while she was going through hard times. While her brother didn t have any sort of help, and therefore he became a troubled kid.Evidence towards this is shown in the film multiple times. The first time is when the film shows how an intervention was done for her as she was not meeting the academic and attendance standards. The second major reason she performed much better than her brother would be because how her teacher, Catherine Miller would provide Omarina lots of academic and emotional support and was a mentor to her. An example of this would be when Cathline said this I felt as though it was really imperative to keep very constant contact just to make sure that the adjustment was going well, but also knowing that you know, many people were rooting for her to be successful here in the Bronx This just proves how close the two were.... White Walden Pond, located in Concord, Massachusetts, was a place of inspiration for two well known authors, Henry David Thoreau and E.B. White. Although, they wrote about the same place, their experiences were a century apart. Thoreau visited the lake in 1854 where technology still wasn t as advanced as it was in 1939 when White visited the historical site leading to a different feel for the place. The authors style of approaching the view of the lake has both similar and different effects when using point of view, imagery, and logos. In comparison, Thoreau and White use the first person point of view in their writings, but in contrast they do not have same writing style. Thoreau writes about his surroundings and writes with serenity. With many details he describes how the forest brings calm to your soul and you feel connected to God and there is nothing to really care for. • 44. Good Morning Midnight By Jean Rhys Jean Rhys, the author of Good Morning Midnight, wrote about women with sense and sensitivity in mostly controversial ways. Rhys was born in Dominica in eighteen ninety four. She came to England at the age of sixteen and hovered on many jobs before she moved to Paris, where she began writing and was found by Ford Maddox Ford. About the essay question and theme, of the representation of women in the city, I believe Rhys exposes the restrictive attitudes places upon women in the town rather than perpetuating them. Her novels, often showed women as underdogs out to exploit their sexualities, which shows they were ahead of their time. Once Good Morning Midnight was written she lived reclusively and was largely forgotten. In Good Morning Midnight Sasha s story moves back and forth, her outlook shifting from her time in London to Paris. She remembers when she was married, to the time she was alone. This sort of attitude is linked to stereotypes and prejudice. The barkeeps know nothing of Jensen personally by they automatically calculate the person she is from the way she appears. This could suggest that Rhys acknowledges that it is not just men who treat women unequally, but it is also women who degrade one another in the novel too. It also is a sudden example of female on female hostility. Sternlicht sees that women in her earlier novels are always hostile, and the protagonist is hostile in return or they repress anger or flee in tears . National Debt The U.S. national debt is very large at more than three quarters the size of the economy and growing federal spending, especially on entitlements, is quickly driving the debt to damaging levels. Federal spending was about 23 percent of the GDP in 2012 far above the historical average of 20.2 percent. It is projected to surge to nearly 36 percent in less than one generation. The government debtmust be limited in some way or else our economy will face devastating consequences. The government debt has had its highs and lows throughout history in comparison to the GDP, and to reduce it, we must minimize spending on entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare. Since its inception, the United States of America has had fluctuating amounts of debt. High points usually follow in the wake of war or recessions, and low points usually occur in times of relative stability in the U.S. Recently, however, the United States has amassed over 18 trillion dollars in debt. The national debt has been rising steadily since the 1970 s and experienced a large growth around the year 2009. From the years 1929 to 2009, the Debt to GDP ratio was approximately 48 percent on average (excluding the years within the World War II era), while from 2009 2014 the Debt to GDP ratio was approximately 97 percent. This increase was most likely the result of increased defense/war spending, the Obama s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and the Troubled Asset Relief Program. All of these events
