LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

2. Ethnic Groups In The Rohingya
The Rohingya are an ethnic group with majority being Muslim who live in the Buddhist Myanmar.
Often, the Rohingya are called the worlds most persecuted minority. As of today, there are at least
1.1 million Rohingya that currently live in Southeast Asia. The language spoken by the Rohingya
is known as Ruaingga and is very distinct. Out of the 135 ethnic groups in the country they are not
considered one and have continuously been denied citizenship in Myanmar since the year 1982.
They are not allowed to leave without permission from the government.
They are forced to live under harsh conditions such as living in ghetto like camps and lack basic
needs. Due to the threat of persecution and constant violence many have fled to neighboring
countries. during the years of British ruling many laborers migrated to Myanmar from Bangladesh
and India. Many natives to the country thought negatively from the migrators and after independent
from the British government deemed the migration as illegal. this has led to years of un fair
treatment to the Rohingya.
I think it s easy to say that one of the very first issues regarding the Rohingya ethnic group is that
they are denied some of the very basic human rights listed in the UDHR. For example, in Article 1.
Article 1 states that all human rights are born free and equal in dignity and rights they are
endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of Brotherhood.
Every day the Rohingya had to live through

Since hunter gatherers time, hallucinogens have been known to be used in tribal rituals. Such tribes

the spirits within them. Passing the knowledge down to the coming generations via shamans, whom
by experience have mastered handling different hallucinogen containing plants: to reach an altered
state of mind. In the present, it is known that hallucinogens are banned in most parts of the world.
However, aware of the power of hallucinogens, a query is raised as to whether this mind altering
strength can be harnessed to treat mental or physical ailments. Hallucinogens are categorized

5. The Signalman by Charles Dickens and The Darkness Out...
The Signalman by Charles Dickens and The Darkness Out There by Penelope Lively Comparing
The Signalman by Charles Dickens and The Darkness Out There by Penelope Lively is an ideal
way of looking at two authors from different times and backgrounds. Dickens, writing in the
nineteenth century, would have had a very different audience to write for from Lively, writing in
the twentieth century. Therefore, each author uses different techniques to create tension in the two
pieces. During the nineteenth century there was a strong belief in ghosts and the spiritual world;
telling ghost stories around the fireplace is often seen as a typical form of Victorian entertainment.
Dickens draws on this tradition to create a short... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike The Signalman, this setting is not a main focus of the story, instead it just lurks in the
background until the climax of the story. This is symbolical of the way the unknown is explored
in Mrs Rutter s life as well. Before the climax of the story events are just hinted at but they are
just rumours, the real story is unknown. The contrast in this approach is shown in the language
used. For example, in The Darkness Out There, Lively writes: And, somewhere, presumably, the
crumbling rusty scraps of metal and cloth and ... bones? The ellipses and the question mark
highlight the uncertainty that is present throughout this story and show the implicit nature of
The Darkness Out There. In contrast, Dickens use of language shows the explicit nature of The
Signalman. When he mentions the figure, he speaks of it directly as the spectre, and the ghost,
thus showing how openly the unknown is explored. In The Darkness Out There, Lively uses the
characters ages to explore the unknown. Sandra and Kerry are adolescents on the brink of being
plunged into the adult world of work. Sandra is shown to be full of dreams such as: One day she
would have a place in the country, but not like this. However, she does not know for sure what
will happen to her. Kerry is shown to be more certain about what he is going to do but the

6. On Collective Memory, By Maurice Halbwach
The central theme of Maurice halbwach in his book On Collective memory is the relationship
between memory and the society. This book constitutes nature, memories of individuals, social
class and religion. Not only is the nature of collective memory important but also the linguistic
part of the collectivity is also looked upon. Halbwach is of the view that memory is not static, it is
a dynamic one. It is because memory is continuously reconstructed and one of the medium is
through language with which they convey. Within the structure of family, class and religion there
could be many frameworks of memory working simultaneously. From the works of scholars like
Emile Durkheim and Henri Bergson, Maurice halbwach borrowed some ideas. Halbwach was...

His friends used to talk about football for which halbwach did not have any interest because he
found it different from the one he knows and mane no sense to him. He found it hard to follow

made little sense to his friends and vice versa. As it was difficult for him go along with people
from other communities and places, he was excluded from his friends collective memory and
their memory from Halbwachs s. He gives another example where after the disintegration of
Soviet Union the history books showed the biases as people who were killed then were now
termed as heroes. Thus collective real memory was shedding and reconstruction of new memories
was taking place. The whole soviet history had to be re written of the last 70 years. The books also

7. Renal Function Lab
Tests of Renal Function Laboratory tests of a patient s blood and urine can provide valuable
information about renal function. Serum levels of potassium, phosphate, blood urea nitrogen
(BUN), and creatinine increase in renal failure while serum pH, calcium, and bicarbonate levels
decrease. Two commonly used tests are serum creatinine and BUN. Creatinine is a breakdown
product of creatine phosphate in muscle and is filtered out of the blood almost entirely by the
kidneys. Thus serum creatinine levels reflect the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). If the glomerular
membrane is faulty creatinine levels rise in the blood. If the serum creatinine is double that may
indicate that that functional capacity of the kidneys has fallen to one half of its normal state.

It is less specific then serum creatinine the BUN creatinine ratio can provide useful information.
The normal ratio is about 10:1. Ratios greater then 15:1 represent pre renal conditions such as
congestive heart failure. A ratio of less then 10:1 7 occurs in persons on a low protein diet or
chronic dialysis because BUN is more readily dialyzable then creatinine.4 While not solely tests
of renal function, both hemoglobin levels and lactose dehydrogenase (LDH) are used to
diagnosis and monitor aHUS patients. Hemoglobin is found in red blood cells, it is the protein
molecule that is responsible for carrying oxygen from the lungs to other organs and returning
carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be expelled. To measure the hemoglobin levels, it is bound to
cyanide to form cyanmethemoglobin. When the solution is exposed to a light, the absorbed light
can be measured, from this information you can determine the amount of hemoglobin. It is
expressed as the amount of hemoglobin in grams (gm) per deciliter (dt) of whole blood.6 Normal
ranges vary on age and sex. Low hemoglobin is referred to as anemia, which

9. Fight Or Flight Theory
There are three different theories that are used when talking about how we react to stress through
the physiological aspect or the psychological aspect. The first is part of the physiological aspect
of stress called the Cannon Fight or Flight theory which was proposed in 1914. Fight or Flight
response is a physiological stressresponse that evolved to help organisms to survive immediate
danger. The theory states that when an organism, human being or animal, faces imminent danger
(acute stressor) the body arouses quickly and is ready to act via two different systems. They are the
sympathetic nervous systemand the endocrine system. The sympathetic nervous system stimulates
the adrenal medullawhich is part of the endocrine system and is the region that produces the
hormones such as adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones increase heart rate, blood flow,
and glucose levels to prepare the body for an emergency. This response from the body suggests that
the body knows how to protect itself and reach homeostasis. These two systems work together to
either fight against the danger or flight away from the danger. Lord, King and Pfister in 1976
studied the Fight or Flight response in animals through a very unethical study. They administered
chemicals on male hooded Wistar rats which inhibited the neurotransmitters from functioning
normally. This made it very difficult for the rats to escape an electric shock. The results of the study
suggest that the Flight or Fight response

10. Application of Biometrics Science beyond Home Security
1.1 Background
Biometrics science is automatic techniques of identifying a human being based on either a behavior
vise or physic vise characteristic. Biometric technologies are of many kind such as dynamic
signature verification,/iris scanning, DNA recognition, face shape identification, voice recognition
and fingerprint validation. Biometric identification is more powerful to lower technology
identification techniques in common use today likely passwords, key, cards, tokens, PIN numbers
and smart cards.
In exisisting system PINs (personal identification numbers) were one of the first identifiers object to
offer automated identification. Although, this means of identification of the PIN, not necessarily
recognition of the person who has entered it. The same thing can be applied with cards and other
tokens.
The token is the easiest way to recognize the person but the problem with this technology is that
it can be present by anybody, i.e. we cannot be sure that token is provided by authentic person
only. So, we can say the primary use of physical objects or behaviors based on memory has a
large set of problems and limitations. The other problems with objects are often lost or stolen and a
behavior based on memory is easily forgotten. Even Identity cannot be guaranteed, privacy cannot
assume and inappropriate use cannot be assured or denied.
Biometrics science is expected to be emerged in solutions such as to provide for Home Security
which also including applications

11. Fahrenheit 451 Should Be Banned
Within the last couple of decades, schools have been banning books due to the reoccurring
problems in modern day time, like profanity. Use of language should not limit what a student can
and cannot read. Fahrenheit 451, one of the many books that have been put into consideration for
being banned because of disputatious issues. The story of a protagonist who finds joy in his job as
a fireman, setting fire to illegally owned books and their owners homes. However, the fireman soon
starts to question the value of his job and his life. Throughout the book, characters are left to deal
with censorship, restriction, and put in life threatening situations. Although the novel contains
reoccurring controversial issues, Fahrenheit 451should be included in middle and high school
curriculums because it allows teachers and students to freely discuss the importance of language

12. The California Clapper Rail and Its Preservation
California Clapper Rail (A) Description and Ecology The California Clapper Rail, Rallus
longirostris obsoletus, is a northern California bird that typically resides in the San Francisco
Bay Estuary, and can be seen as south as San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. The clapper rail is part
of the order Gruiformes and the family Rallidae. It is one of the largest birds in the Rallidae
family, measuring 32 47 cm bill to tail typically. Males on average weigh 300 350g and females
weigh in at 248 301g. Clapper rails have the physical appearance of a hen, however with a long,
orange bill, that is not a feature of a hen. They typically have black and white sides and white
feathers under the tail. The difference between an adolescent and an adult is that the young
have a paler bill, a gray body, and black sides. California clapper rails are very similar to Virginia
clapper rails, but the California rail is slightly larger. Rails are known for being very secretive,
which makes spotting them in the wild very difficult. They are very sensitive to disturbances in
the wild, and if they sense something, they typically either freeze, hide or run to avoid the
disturbance. Rails are also known to be able to swim if necessary to escape a predator. The calls of
clapper rails are all variations of the same note, and factors of the call include population size,
time of day, tides, and weather. The clapper is the most common call by the clapper rail itself.

14. Iraq Dishes
All around the world there are distinct cultures that have a variety of cuisines and techniques for
preparing them. This paper will discuss in depth two different dishes that come from different
regions and how its sustainability impacts its social cultural resilience. Baghdad, Iraq and Gaza,
Palestine both deal with political and environment factors that impact their dishes, but sustainability
in Gaza is less complex because its dish ingredients are not harm by governmental regulations and
its geography provides a vast range of arable land.
First, in The Gaza Kitchen by Laila El Haddad Maggie Schmitt, they both illustrate different
Gaza dishes that range from simple to elaborate. In this case, the focus is bread, it is not a meal but
it is used to eat dishes or can be simply eaten by itself. Khubz Kmaj is, the standard Palestinian

15. The Banning Of Abortion In The United States
A sixteen year old cancer patient was denied her chemotherapy because it would mean she had

had a miscarriage followed by cardiac arrest. If a mother s life is in danger and the doctor knows
there is no way to save the baby then they need to save the mother no matter what. A doctor has a
responsibility to take care of their patient and treat their patient to their specific needs (Swanson,

An average of 89,000 rape cases are reported annually, the United States is the sixth state with the
highest rape counts (Rape Statistics.). Women who are raped become emotionally, physically,
and sometimes mentally affected, and sometimes those women or young girls who are raped
become pregnant and seek abortion to help them in their unfortunate situation. Abortion is a
choice that a mother make and that choice stays with them forever (Brown, Kristi Burton).
Abortion can also mentally and physically harm not just the other but the baby also. There are
three main ways a doctor can do an abortion, partial birth abortion, dilation and evacuation, and
saline abortion. When a doctor completes a partial birth abortion they are sucking the brain out
of the baby and killing them, when dilation and evacuation is completed they take a sharp edged
instrument and grasp the baby shredding them to pieces. A Saline solution is just how it sounds,
the fluids are replaced with saline and it kills off the baby ( Unborn Babies Can Feel Pain. ).
Some people can find this relieving that they are no longer going to have their baby but the toll it
can take on them really isn t worth it. Mothers who decide to abort their baby can end up with
more health risks emotionally and physically than a mother who decides to just have the baby.
Women who abort are two times more likely to become

17. Analysis Of The Book In Brooklyn
In Brooklyn, the author, Colm ToМЃibiМЃn, tells a coming of age immigration story set in the
1950s about Eilis Lacey, a young woman from Enniscorthy, Ireland. Eilis travels from her
hometown in County Wexford to Brooklyn, New York with the help of Father Flood and her
sister, Rose. Eilis is confronted with homesickness, love, and identity crisis throughout the story.
Although Brooklyn is about Eilis s journey, Rose plays an important role in her life. Rose is Eilis
s older sister who still lives at home with Eilis and their mother. Rose helps support them with
money for food, movies, clothes and even Eilis s schooling by working in the office of Davis s
Mills. While in Brooklyn, Eilis and Rose send letters back and forth until Rose suddenly dies in
her sleep and leaves their mother all alone. Colm ToМЃibiМЃn s creates Rose to be the heroic
character of the novel. Initially Rose does seem manipulative but soon proves to be a hero. In this
essay I will argue that Rose is not completely manipulative, but that she is actually a combination
of both heroism and manipulation; she is a helpful person who sometimes uses manipulation to
achieve this. In the beginning of Brooklyn, Eilis gets a job as a shopkeeper for Miss Kelly s
grocery store and Rose disapproves of it. When Rose gets the opportunity to play golf with an
American priest, Father Flood, she invites him for tea. Eilis soon realizes that Rose tacitly arranged

Negligence is the defendant s conduct (the exercise of an act or the failure to act), failing to
exercise the degree of care that a reasonable and prudent person in his position would exercise;
and act in a way that breaches the duty to prevent the foreseeable risk of harm to anyone in the
plaintiff s position, and the defendant s breach must be the cause of the plaintiff s injuries. The five
elements of negligence are: 1) Duty: Did the defendant owe plaintiff a legal obligation to exercise

plaintiff? Regarding the foreseeable risks created by the defendant s conduct, was the act

criminal is executed that was used in the olden days as a site of public shaming. It was, in short, the
platform of the pillory...punishment to do. (Chapter 2). The scaffold scenes in the Scarlet Letter
seem to be the most significant motifs in the novel. First off, the dominant symbol, scarlet letter A,

Hester and Pearl to stand with him on the scaffold, Hester, said he, Come hither! Come, my little

Every parent wants to have a healthy perfect child, but without vaccines we would have so many
sick children that could die from the diseases that are out there today. If we all make sure our
children have their vaccines we would save more lives, save money so that we are not trying to
treat the diseases, and protect the future generations from the new diseases. When deciding
whether or not to have our children get these vaccines, think about all the good things they do
rather than the bad. No one wants to lose a loved one that has just passed of old age let alone
passed because of something that could have been prevented by just a simple vaccine. All parents of
children should make sure that they receive their vaccines because it will change people s lives,
save our country a lot of money, and protect our future generations.
Clearly, there are still plenty of people out there that are not vaccinated and they cannot wait too
long to get their vaccines. The Center of Disease Control estimated that 732,000 American
children were saved from death and 322 million cases of childhood illnesses were prevented
between 1994 and 2014 due to vaccinations (Loria, 2014). Our country needs to come together to
try to make our parents understand why we are pushing to have their children vaccinated so soon.

realize it because Americans take everything for granted. Just because a disease is lying

24. Supernatural Elements In William Faulkner s The Sound And...
Southern Gothic is defined as a genre of southern writing specific to American literature exclusive
to the American South. Stories in this genre of southern writing focus on grotesques themes and
include supernatural elements that are mainly focused on damage, the harsh conflicts of violence,
racism, and delusional characters. William Faulkner, in his book The Sound and the Furry ,
displays all of these elements. It is seen by every character in the book and the scenes they play in
the story, which is a specific role in creating the Southern Gothicvibe. The story is told by the
Compson children, which are Benjy, Quentin, and Jason. Each of the children has their own
section in the book in which they describe their characteristics and let the readers know how the
Civil War in the South lead for their family to be dysfunctional in different ways. Faulkner s work
is the embodiment of Southern Gothic Style because in his writing a common theme is
disintegration as well as a very serious obsession with the Civil War as seen throughout his book
with all the characters being deeply flawed in their own ways. In the story, the grotesque
atmosphere and social issues worsen as each of the characters tell their story. All of the sections of
the book come together to display the symbol of Southern Gothic.
In his novel, Faulkner tells the story of the disintegration of the Compson which is a Southern
family. The Sound and the Furry demonstrates an incredible innovative narrative style of the
gothic theme of disintegration. The first section of the book is told from the perspective of
Benji who in the book is described as disabled and is the youngest of the Compsons. The section
of Benjy was told in a childlike, disconnected and twisted manner. For Benjy order is very
important for him since he gets very upset when he sees anything that is not usual. An example of
this is shown when Benjy becomes inconsolable when his daily routine is modified. When Jason
takes Benjy back to his regular routine his mood changes and he is more relaxed. This shows how
he is not used to his new life after the south is redefining and that his parents and Cady have not
been there liked they used to help him go through this change. The

Since its discovery in the late 19th century, nuclear energy has been used in a diversity of areas

However, one of the biggest outcomes since this discovery is nuclear energy generation. This
subject is largely controversial as it has many pros and cons. It is considered to be a more eco
friendly alternative source of electricity, as it emits less carbon emissions than coalfired power
stations, for example. Yet there still an environmental risk provided by the radio active waste and

Professor Per Peterson from the Department of Nuclear Engineering says, It s difficult for me to
see how we can transition away from fossil fuels and not use significant amounts of nuclear
energy (Phillips, 2012). Many argue that renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind
should be implemented instead of nuclear energy as they too produce no air pollution.
However, modern society requires a reliable base load of electricity which renewables are not
equipped to provide. In Australia there are limited sources that could potentially supply a
suitable base load . They include coal and gas (which produce CO2 emissions) geothermal,
hydro (which is limited due to the lack of water), developing technology and nuclear energy
(Krieg, 2014). Renewable sources of energy also prove to be a problem as they are too fickle to
provide base load power to a nation, as they depend on intermittent things such as weather and
seasons, whereas nuclear power is available constantly whilst being a cleaner source of power.
An example of the environmental success nuclear energy has provided is France in the 1970s
and 1980s. The country switched from using fossil fuels and instead used nuclear energy to
supply 78% of its electricity (see figure 3). This in turn lowered the country s greenhouse
emissions by approximately 2% each year since. No accidents have ever occurred at any of France

It was night of December 27, 2007, before my ninth grade final exam, I was in a tutoring center

When I first came into the recruiting in 1999 there were several recruiting incentives that
recognized a recruiter s performance and not just the recruiter s performance, but the performance

recruiter gold badge of excellence, the recruiter ring, and culminated with those who truly became

Efficiency wise, this has come to Afghanistan s benefit. Performance wise, NGO s have lost track.
International Assistance is typically understaffed, limited in community participation, and lacks
coordination with other institutions. In other words, NGO s don t work well with others (Tilak 2).
Governments truthfully fear NGO ideology and struggle to hold their political power. Regardless,
the Ministry still accepts programs to change educational norms. There is a twelve year program
encouraging all children to be put in schools with equal gender opportunity by the end of that
timeline. Unfortunately, not all countries have enough funding to support higher education (Yousuf
1).
In Bangladesh, college education is far less funded than primary education, regardless of NGO
interference. This is most likely because of the priorities of the community. Similar to Afghanistan;
schools dependent on International Organizations set their own policies, tuition fees, employment
policies, curricula, and are unsupervised by the ministry. Just like Afghanistan, quality education is
a guessing game (Gupta 42).
NGO s have not only affected countries like Afghanistan and Bangladesh, but they have supported
Pakistan s educational development. NGO s started appearing in Pakistan around the time of its
independance. They acted as a substitution for governmental efforts to improve educational quality.

Representations of women in the media Miley Cyrus made media headline around the world,
during and after her performance on one of America s biggest award shows, MTV video music
awards (VMAs). Miley Cyrus was accompanied by Robin Thicke a popular R b musician, who also
performed a song, however it seemed Miley Cyrusreceived the most backlash for her behavior and
performance at the awards. Instantaneously a still shot from the performance went viral and
immediately created a bad representation of women in the media. Miley Cyrus was brought up in
the spot light, her farther Billy Ray Cyruswas already a famous musician and actor. Miley ascended
to fame for her role in the Disney channel show Hannah Montana, the show brought her extreme
success and popularity, the television show was about a teenage female leaving a double life;
regular teenager by day and teen superstar by night. Miley Cyrus had built a fan base of mostly
preteens and young children, subsequently she presented a clean image of a teenager with
immense moral character, which demonstrated an appearance of pure innocence. This image was
kept up for years, and the media/general public became used to viewing her in a certain light, that
when this pure and innocent image began to slowing fade away, it created a wide spread media
panic. Cyrus shocked the mainstream media when she went through a drastic appearance change,
she cut her hair, and changed her way of dressing into a more hyper

32. I Want For Statement Of Purpose For Mechanical Engineering
Statement of Purpose
God would laugh when human beings think, a popular saying goes like this. I don t know how
much truth there is in this saying, but if human beings stop thinking, they will be no long called
human beings, will they? I recall this popular saying when I m writing the present statement
because it is my incessant thinking that has been inspiring my thirst for and persevering pursuit of
knowledge. It is through this pursuit that I have been tempering myself and adding value to my life.
Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by the way things work, from dismantling and
maintaining my own bike to modelling a lift for apartments as a part of a science exhibition; my
curiosity was directed at unravelling the functioning of devices. Egged on by my parents and
teachers and my innate predilection for science and technology, a mechanical engineering degree

only enhanced my learning but also reflected in my excellent academic grades.
During the last year of my engineering, I had selected project of Modelling and analysis of Gas

optimize material selection cost of turbine blade for different operating temperature. For that I had
undergone training of Creo and Ansys software from my coach. Finally, I had established a proper
material selection procedure for price optimization which can save lots of money in industries. It
was well praised by our Head of the department

33. The Impact Of Social Media On The Workplace
Building Relationships This experience is the first time I have been introduced to professional
relationships. I took the time to set up a LinkedIn account. It always brings a smile to my face
when a subcontractor requests to connect with me. I believe that social media outlets such as
LinkedIn give professionals an opportunity to keep up with each other s successes. The lowest
level relationship I have built is with the field workers from our concrete subcontractors. I have
enjoyed getting to know them and hearing how they got to Texas. One of the workers was born
and raised in California. He recently heard about how strong the economy was in Houston, so he
packed everything up and moved here. Another worker was born in Mexico and just recently
became an American citizen. He is enrolled night classes to strengthen his speaking skills. I have
a tremendous amount of respect for the men who work in the field. The highest level
relationship I have built is with the chief executive officer of Linbeck. I believe it says a lot
about a company when even the highest levels of leadership are able to recognize your face and
call you by name. I am proud to be a part of a company who values the idea of being a family. I
believe the most important relationship I have established outside of Linbeck is with project
managers from the various trades. These men and women have taught me so much about the
specifics of their work. Whether I am talking to the specialty or electrical

35. The Landlady Analysis
The Landlady
Roald Dahl s realistic fiction story, The Landlady, takes place in Bath, London at a Bed
Breakfast. Billy Weaver, a seventeen year old boy, is exploring the streets of london trying to find
a place to spend the night. Billy is unaware of his surroundings and is not listening, while exploring
the dark streets of london. By using foreshadowing, and sensory details, Roald Dahl creates the
lesson that things are not always as they seem.
Billy is not conscientious, and so it is milipinating not only himself but his actions. One example
of this is, The old man explains to Billy that there is a Pub, The Bell and Dragon a quarter mile
away. Billy goes off looking for it, but comes across a Bed Breakfast that feels cozy,... Show more

The devious giveaway sentence, I m almost positive I ve heard those names before Somewhere.
Maybe it was in the Newspaper (3). The Landlady has only ever had two other guests sign the
book in the front living room. The names sound unmistakably familiar to Billy. As Billy is
thinking about the names the landlady very much so interrupts him and says, They were tall,
young and handsome, my dear, just exactly like you, these two quotes from Billy and the
Landlady help the reader infer that if two boys were in the newspaper and this lady says
something unordinary creepy, than something terrible could come from Billy (4). This is
significant because it ties back into the theme that everything is not what it seems. The
Landlady seemed nice and caring, but it looks like things have changed. His foreshadowing is
not the only craft he uses to develop the idea. The sensory details in the story also show how
everything is not what it seems. The descriptive sentence, He went right up and peered through
the glass into the room, and the first thing he saw was a bright fire in the hearth (1). He is so
caught up in the overall effect of the inside of the house, he does not think of the horrific things
the house also could have. If Billy would have been more careful and cautious while finding a
place to stay, all of these problems he is facing could have been avoided. Dahl uses this descriptive
sentence to show how Billy is engaged in looking at the inside of the

36. The World Of Yesterday, By Anthea Bell
Stefan Zweig s The World of Yesterday originally published in 1942 and translated into English
in 2009 by Anthea Bell is a perceptive memoir that skillfully recounts the life of Zweig (a Jewish
middle class male) beginning with his childhood in Vienna, Austria pre World War I and ends
right before Zweig s suicide in 1942. During his account, Zweig provides critical commentary on
various historical events that is invaluable when it comes to putting these events in the context of
the everyday life of the individuals living through them. He also provides accounts of many
societal structures as well as of interesting individuals that are not necessarily important in the
grand scheme of things but help the reader build a more complete picture of the period.
Throughout the book, Zweig maintains a cautionary as well as a didactic tone that attempts to
caution the reader about how society can change so drastically and rapidly. Overall, Zweig s book
is an excellent memoir that helps put major historical events into context; however, the book also
has some problems that undermine the delivery of the cautionary message of the book. This book
is a memoir by Stefan Zweigthat recounts his life and critically analyses some of the major world
events that Zweig lived through. The setting at the beginning of the book is Vienna, Austriain the
Pre World I years, by the end of the book the setting has changed many times because the author

37. Review Of Robert Mundell s Trilemma Essay
Section I: Exchange Rates Paper
Robert Mundell s Trilemma, also known as the Impossible Trinity, states that a nation cannot realize
monetary policy autonomy, free capital movements, and exchange rate stability at the same time.
While either of the two goals can combine and actualize in any given period, as a simultaneous and
three fold effort, each objective cannot coexist. Together they are simply incompatible. Thus, and
holding true to the tradeoff nature of economics, Mundell s undisputed theory illustrates that in
order for a nation to attain its preferred monetary goals it must give up one desired option.
Nevertheless, it is no easy decision. Before any resolution is made, nations must invest substantial
time and energy into understanding the consequences at stake because the policies that they do
deicide to implement are not only felt at a national or international level but personally amongst
those that they govern.
To exemplify the tradeoffs that define the Trilemma s policy combinations, consider a nation with a
long history of high inflation and a central bank that has limited credibility. Bearing in mind that
low inflation is a primary macroeconomic goal amongst world powers and likened to symbolize
economic stability, would not the aim of the nation be to promote steady financial growth through
deflation? And while the costs of inflation are substantially high on their own, when coupled with
uncertainty produced by an unreliable central bank the costs are only

38. The Importance Of Education In The 1920 s
The 1920 s was an extravagant decade in American history. Many people had bought new items,
such as radios, and played the stock market without worrying about the loans they used for the new
items and stock market. The 1920 s also brought about change in the United States, such as women
s suffrage and Prohibition. Despite Prohibition making the consumption and possession of alcohol
illegal, many people went to speakeasies to drink alcohol. The government could not effectively
control the drug and alcohol use in the 1920 s, but it did have control over education. With the
government s ability to control education, it gained importance and attention in the 1920 s.

Abstract
This paper explores the change that General Motors faced after the economic recession and credit
crisis that began in 2007. This pushed GM to request assistance from the U.S. Treasury which
resulted in the restructuring of their US operations. The start of this restructuring change involved
downsizing GM s operations in the US. Along with the mandate imposed from the US government
GM engaged in downsizing to reduce costs, and to cope with the ... Show more content on

GM s structural change is an example of retrenchment, which is done by centralizing/specializing a
firm s operations to sustain or improve productivity (Palmer et al., 2009).
Downsizing is generally regarded as midrange or second order change . A second order change is
transformational, radical, and fundamentally alters the organization at its core. Second order
change entails not developing but transforming the nature of the organization (Palmer et al., 2009).
Furthermore, GM s downsizing can be seen as a type 2 transformation, which involves the
revitalization of already established companies... where the organization remains in the same
market but focuses on how to rebuild itself in order to operate more effectively (Palmer et al.,
2009). GM remained in the automotive industry but needed to restructure and downsize in order to
mitigate the effects of the economic recession.
In its restructuring, GM closed plants, cut its workforce, shed three brands, reduced debt,
introduced popular new vehicles, and implemented changes to reduce retiree legacy costs, which
had been a major financial drain (Canis Webel, 2013). Cuts were made based on whether a person
s position was deemed redundant, the level of their subject matter expertise, and performance
reviews (Smerd, 2009). As outlined in Table 1 more than 2,000 dealerships were closed, as GM
shed its

Mr. Daniel Boone purchased a vehicle from Zoom Car Company with a compass on the

high crime area where he was dragged from his car and severely beaten. Who should be
responsible for Mr. Boone s medical bills? Did Zoom Car Company know the equipment was
faulty and kept the information from the purchaser? Did Corrigan Rulers Compasses and Slide
Rules, Inc. know there was an issue with the product? If so, did they recall the product? If they
recalled the product, why didn t Zoom Car Company take out the compass? Did Zoom Car

Zoom Car Company was not aware the equipment was faulty. In fact, if they would have known
that the product was defective, they would have disassembled the compasses, sent them back to
Corrigan Rulers Compasses and Slide Rules, Inc. and replaced them with another company s
product. As the Judge presiding over this case, I vote in the favor of the Plaintiff. Zoom Car
Company is responsible for making sure that every part of the vehicle is properly working
before placing on the sales lot and/or releasing to a purchaser. Because Zoom Car Company
failed to test the compass, they cannot be certain the compass was in fact working at the time of
purchase. Zoom Car Company is to pay Mr. Boone s past and future medical expenses and loss
of wages and punitive damages in the amount of $ 3, 321, 000 to Mr. Boone. (93) In my personal
opinion, Mr. Boone could have been more aware of his surroundings while driving in an
unfamiliar area and should not have trusted the compass fully. It was not his fault that the
compass was faulty, but as the Defense stated he should have had more common sense and paid
better attention to where he was driving. Additionally, as a consumer, I would never think to
validate items are working properly on my brand new vehicle and I have been listened to the GPS
verse use common sense and have gotten lost. When considering the example of the screw missing

41. Multi-objective Reconfiguration of Electrical Distribution...
EDSs are mainly designed meshed but operated radially for some technical and financial
concerns. Distribution networks can be represented with a graph in ordered pairs consisting of a
set of vertices, i.e. buses and a set of edges, i.e. branches; in terms of mathematics this equivalents
to a sparse matrix which its non zero elements signifies the existence of an edge in the system. On
this basis a typical distribution network is radial if it forms a treewhere each load bus is exactly
supplied from one source node, i.e. substation bus [11]. This suggests MOEDNRC problem as
identifying the set of non dominated trees of the given graph. In this section we ve devised a
heuristic technique based on this idea as well as the rules defined in [30] to retain the
connectivity and radial properties of individuals during the optimization process. It s worth
mentioning that these properties are broadly disturbed by EAs due to the stochastic nature of
these algorithms unless a heuristic plan is devised to preserve the mentioned properties. As a
result generation of infeasible agents in sheer numbers by EAs is quite a normal observation. The
proposed technique is able to prevail over this shortcoming and would increase the performance of
EAs as well. Before proceeding with the designed technique, some terminologies are first introduced
to set the stage for the plan.

42. Essay on The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter
The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter
There is no doubt in the minds of many people who are familiar with the Rubin Hurricane Carter
story that he, and the man who was convicted for murder with him, John Artis, are innocent of
those crimes. While no one knows for sure who is guilty of the crime, but the one thing that is for
certain is that Carter and Artis were victims of racial bias from many people who would see them in
jail. This story is truly a tragic one of a promising career, and of a life that was spoiled by prejudice
and one that reviles some of the ways in which, society s present legal system can fail to ensure the
right of justice for people in our society.
In a 1975 Penthouse Interview Carter stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

prosecutors but was illegally withheld from the jury. An all white death jury (a jury in which, each
person is supportive of capital punishment and are generally more supportive of a conviction)
sentenced Carter and Artis to serve three consecutive life sentences for the murder of two men and

Besides the anticipated hardships that accompanied a long term stay in prison, Carter had to bare
