The Proclamation had little impact on slavery. The Proclamation only applied to places where it
was under Confederate Control. The Proclamation was condemned in the South and debated in the
North. Abolitionists criticized Lincoln for not going far enough. The Proclamation did nothing to
free people who were enslaved in the border states. So, slaves in the Confederate states that were
controlled by the Union s force were not affected. Northerners feared that all freed people coming
to the North would cause a lot of unemployment. The Northern Africans response was way more

the Union army until July of 1862. In July of 1872, Congress authorized Lincoln to accept the
announcement in the Emancipation Proclamation that Africans could now join the Union Army. In

Positive Reinforcement
Considering all of my lessons this semester, my main strength would be modeling the lesson for the
students and praising the students with positive reinforcement. I feel as the students remained
engaged and they were always willing to participate, which allowed them to meet all of the
objectives in my lesson. I was impressed with how well much the students remembered and
understood from my lessons. I presented the instruction and goals for the lesson prior to beginning
the activity. During the lesson, I frequently asked the students questions in order for the students to
remain thinking as well as focused. For the most part, my focus student met the lesson objectives

In Happy by Roko Belic (a 2011 documentary), All I want is to be happy in life was a reoccurring
statement from the people in the film. A majority of people in today s world agree with that
statement. Everyone wants to be happy, but what truly defines happiness? The Happy documentary
presents different things that make certain people happy, and what influences their feelings. The
film does not only imply that direct message, but also paints a bigger picture for the audience. The
bigger picture being: how ecology is the main factor behind people s happiness. The director of this
film combines real experiences from people around the world along with research from scientists to
explain our simple emotion, happiness.
The filmmakers really amplified the idea that everyone can become happier. They filmed people
from many different cultures around the world, to show that there are no barriers for being
happy. Rather than starting the film with an interview from an average American, Happy began
with an Indian rickshaw driver sharing his daily lifestyle. Although it may have seemed like a
hard, tiring, and anticlimactic lifestyle to the audience, he was happy. The narrator reports,
Research shows that he was as happy as the average American. This may seem unrealistic for the
audience at first, considering the audience is still discovering this principle that happiness is
diverse for other individuals. Especially for an audience member who finds that a majority of their
happiness is related with money, this moment in the film may have not been easy for them to
comprehend. This part of the film really amplifies the main claim from the director that happiness
is mainly influenced by our ecology. The Indian rickshaw driver found most of his happiness when
he came home, and interacted with his son. The idea of ecology has a lot to with the social
interaction between individuals of the same species, in this case, it was the interaction between the

Good old Saturn. Now, in the charts we talked about, his Sun Saturn is on her Moon and then her

Death. A strong topic, frequently but solemnly discussed. However, when I read Edgar Allan Poe
s The Raven , I was immediately captivated by the new angle brought to my attention regarding
death. While the topic of death is usually associated with either sympathy or horror, Poe succeeded
in portraying a feeling caught between the two; and at the same time bringing forth new feelings I
would never thought to consider regarding death. These feelings reflect a sorrow so deep into a
psychological madness, a feeling that the pain death brings has ruined one forever. After analyzing
this poem I came to the conclusion that Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven demonstrates that the sorrow

Introduction The purpose of the following report is to discuss the events and encounters I
experienced on my practicum. I completed my practicum with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement,

school, Bradbury showed a keen talent in the field of graphic design. He jumpstarted his career

She enabled him to continue his work and in the year 1979, a decade after Bradbury started the
project, the bible was published and placed on the market. The Bible was a huge success and
collected several awards and publications (Hoffman). In 1980 a second version was published.
This second version was smaller and was targeted to sell to families. Of course Bradbury s
success was not overlooked. In 1950, Bradbury received the National Society of Art Directors of

I must admit, I had some anxiety about this assignment. I don t know if it was the negative
preconceived ideas I had or the thought of being a passenger on the ride of people s intimate
thoughts and feelings surrounding addiction. One thing is for sure, it was quite different than I
had imagined it would be. I grew up in a religious family, and I consider myself a Christian. Based
on my life long experiences AA had an air of religiosity and maybe a cult feel to it. Alcoholics

But the room resembled a church in that instead of a symbol of Christ, like a cross, there was a
large desk with the insignia AA hanging from the ceiling and a huge triangle affixed to the front
of the desk. There were twelve step books on the black chairs, which reminded me of how bibles
are in the pews of churches. There was an agenda of sorts, or announcements, just as they would
have in a church. They also took up an offering just as they do in church. There were readings
from the twelve step book, and there was a group leader sitting at the desk that guided the

was one major difference, although they mentioned God, there was no power of God in the

I m an alcoholic , this is a contradiction. In my mind it is self defeating to say you are something
you are so desperately trying not to be. It also is denying the power they possess at the same time
because the Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and
they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof , so if you truly believe you have conquered the addiction
it is inconsistent to say I m an alcoholic. On the other hand, maybe they are saying they haven t
conquered the addiction and they are always one foot into their addiction. Furthermore, I don t
see this as tapping into a higher power because there is no progression if your state of mind is
always saying you will always be an alcoholic. Why not say I will overcome my addiction, and I
m a former alcoholic? I understand addiction is a disease. And, the first step is admitting you have
a problem, but that is the first step not every step should include this. Most of the people there
attended several meetings weekly.

Background:
I was born January 9th, 1959 in Laj Chimel in Guatemala, as a member of the Quiche tribe, a tribe
made up of descendants of the Mayan Civilization. I lost my parents and brother in 1981, during
Guatemala s civil war because of my father s role as a government opposition leader. My brother,
Petrocinio, was kidnapped and killed by the army and my parents were killed in protest at the
Spanish Embassy, located in Guatemala city in 1981. ( A Tale of Suffering, Fame and
Controversy). My family was not alone in this injustice, however, many indigenous peasants who
were sympathetic to the rebels were killed during this war between the conservative government ...
Although this issue is not solved completely yet, I believe with continuous effort it can be changed
and I can hopefully create a positive economic impact in this way. I also organized the Guatemalan
Peace Coffee Program, which brought different indigenous groups together to produce coffee more
efficiently, which helped these groups economically. In 1992 I received the Nobel Peace Prize. The
committee claimed, MenchГє stands out as a vivid symbol of peace and reconciliation across
ethnic, cultural, and social dividing lines. In spite of this, my award was criticized by former
Guatemalan President Jorge Serrano Elias administration who claimed that I was not honorable
since I was supposedly tied to certain groups which have endangered Guatemala. Another critique
of mine was about my book; American anthropologist David Stoll wrote a book in response, called
Rigoberta MenchГє and the Story of all Poor Guatemalans, in which he claims that my accounts in
my autobiography are untrue, although I consider these accusations to be a racist political agenda,
