The Reaction To The Emancipation Proclamation
Reaction to the Proclamation
The Proclamation had little impact on slavery. The Proclamation only applied to places where it
was under Confederate Control. The Proclamation was condemned in the South and debated in the
North. Abolitionists criticized Lincoln for not going far enough. The Proclamation did nothing to
free people who were enslaved in the border states. So, slaves in the Confederate states that were
controlled by the Union s force were not affected. Northerners feared that all freed people coming
to the North would cause a lot of unemployment. The Northern Africans response was way more
positive. Abolitionist Frederick Douglas said:
We shout for joy that we live to record this righteous decree.
There was no immediate end to slavery.
African Americans Join the War and African Soldiers
The Emancipation Proclamation had two different immediate effects. The Proclamation inspired
Southern slaves to free themselves by escaping to the protection of Union troops. This encouraged
Africans to join the war. When the Civil War began, Africans volunteers were not allowed to join
the Union army until July of 1862. In July of 1872, Congress authorized Lincoln to accept the
announcement in the Emancipation Proclamation that Africans could now join the Union Army. In
1865 over 180,000 African Americans had been enlisted in the Union Army. More than half of the
soldiers were from the South. The Africans from the South that became soldiers fought for others
who were still

Saudi Arabia Culture
From its rich and varied cultural history and practices to its stunningly beautiful cities full of unique
architecture, Saudi Arabia is a fascinating country. With its acknowledged status as the birthplace of
Islam, Saudi Arabia is an important cultural and religious hub for many who come seeking spiritual
enlightenment or simply a chance to experience the bustling cities and thriving commerce of the
prosperous metropolises. With a population of over 28 million people, Saudi Arabiais a vital part of
the Middle East, with some major influence on the Arab countries around it. In order to fully
appreciate the unique customs and overall societal expectations of this or any other country, one
must understand not only its geographical location and a few key facts about it, but how it
functions both as a nation made up of many diverse minds, and as a singular driving force in the
complicated dance between all the nations of the world. With this in mind, there are several factors
to consider when studying a country such as Saudi Arabia, namely, the main language, the major
religion, the culture and cultural norms, and the business etiquette. One of the most defining
components of any nation is the diversity of language that is often utilized by a countries citizen.
Language is immensely powerful, and the breadth of vocabulary and concepts a language can offer
often provide an individual the tools needed to not only interact with persons of a similar
nationality, but to interact

Equality Between African Americans And Women Essay
Equality as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the quality or state of being equal : the
quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc. This nation was founded on three
main principles, which were liberty, freedom, and equality. Though our country has struggled on
many occasions to maintain each of these principles, the hardest one to maintain seems to be that
of equality. Every human being has a desire to be seen as equal, its basic human nature. We seek
equality in every aspect of our lives, whether it is the equality of religion, race, social class, or
even gender. The inhabitants of this nation have fought for and over equality since its foundation.
Throughout this paper I would like to delve into the written works of two great minds that strove to
gain equal rights for both African Americans and women. These two individuals took it upon
themselves to achieve the seemingly impossible, and our nation is a better place due to their desire
to seek change where change was needed. Abraham Lincolnand Elizabeth Stanton used their
speeches and written works to fuel changes in this nation that are still seen today, and I can
wholeheartedly say that this nation is a better place due to their desires to seek justice for those
who were not given a voice to help themselves. This paper will show how Lincoln and Stanton used
their writings to open the eyes of this nation to the injustices that were being shown to not only
women and African Americans, but

Positive Reinforcement
Considering all of my lessons this semester, my main strength would be modeling the lesson for the
students and praising the students with positive reinforcement. I feel as the students remained
engaged and they were always willing to participate, which allowed them to meet all of the
objectives in my lesson. I was impressed with how well much the students remembered and
understood from my lessons. I presented the instruction and goals for the lesson prior to beginning
the activity. During the lesson, I frequently asked the students questions in order for the students to
remain thinking as well as focused. For the most part, my focus student met the lesson objectives
during each lesson by accurately answering my assessment questions or showing me that he
understands the material that was covered through examples. Within my writing lesson, my focus
student achieved beyond the objective. My student was unsure what a slice of life story consisted
of before beginning the lesson, but by the time our activities were completed, he know exactly
what a slice of life story was (22:45). Additionally, within my guided reading lesson, my focus
student did an exceptional job with spelling and understanding past tenseverbs (13:37). However,
my student was not able to finish the lesson with the group, therefore I believe that he did not meet
the objective due to the lack of practice with past tense verbs. Within my interdisciplinary lesson,
Dannie matched all of the pictures of simple

Happy Documentary Analysis
In Happy by Roko Belic (a 2011 documentary), All I want is to be happy in life was a reoccurring
statement from the people in the film. A majority of people in today s world agree with that
statement. Everyone wants to be happy, but what truly defines happiness? The Happy documentary
presents different things that make certain people happy, and what influences their feelings. The
film does not only imply that direct message, but also paints a bigger picture for the audience. The
bigger picture being: how ecology is the main factor behind people s happiness. The director of this
film combines real experiences from people around the world along with research from scientists to
explain our simple emotion, happiness.
The filmmakers really amplified the idea that everyone can become happier. They filmed people
from many different cultures around the world, to show that there are no barriers for being
happy. Rather than starting the film with an interview from an average American, Happy began
with an Indian rickshaw driver sharing his daily lifestyle. Although it may have seemed like a
hard, tiring, and anticlimactic lifestyle to the audience, he was happy. The narrator reports,
Research shows that he was as happy as the average American. This may seem unrealistic for the
audience at first, considering the audience is still discovering this principle that happiness is
diverse for other individuals. Especially for an audience member who finds that a majority of their
happiness is related with money, this moment in the film may have not been easy for them to
comprehend. This part of the film really amplifies the main claim from the director that happiness
is mainly influenced by our ecology. The Indian rickshaw driver found most of his happiness when
he came home, and interacted with his son. The idea of ecology has a lot to with the social
interaction between individuals of the same species, in this case, it was the interaction between the
rickshaw driver and his son. Not only did the interaction with his son brighten his mood, but his
interaction with his neighbors also brought him to be happy.
The film then proceeds to reveal some of the science behind our happiness and how happiness is
measured. The film

To What Extent Is Futabatei s Ukigumo, Japan s First...
During the Meiji period, Japan was faced with a plethora of issues regarding its future. One of
these issues was the future of Japanese literature. At that time, novels were still regarded as a
third rate art form in Japan, though foreign books were highly sought after by the Japanese
public. There were many ways to write Japanese, each system with its own use for specific
occasions. And yet, the idea of writing in the style of natural conversational Japanese was
considered radical and inappropriate for literature by the general public. Most foreign novels were
translated poorly, into a writing style known as kanbun chГґ which was mostly based around
Chinese loan words. As a result, this style had a very rigid and legal feel, due to Chinese... Show

Japan already had a very strong literary history prior to the Meiji restoration, however, if the
Japanese people were to take this heritage into the modern era then they would have to adapt to this
new style of writing fiction.
While studying Russian at TГґkyГґ gaikoku go gakkГґ, a student named Futabatei Shimei realised
the inefficiency of the kanbun chГґ and gabuntai styles when translating Russian novels into
Japanese. And through logical continuation, he understood that writing a Japanese novel for the
modern era would mean having to drop these traditional writing styles as well. In January 1886,
Futabatei met with Tsubouchi ShГґyГґ. ShГґyГґ s criticism, ShЕЌsetsu Shinzui had struck a chord
with Futabatei, who had envisioned many of the same ideas while reading Russian literature.
Tsubouchi had himself published a novel known as TЕЌsei Shosei Kishitsu, which he had hoped
would achieve his goals in becoming the book to bring Japanese literature into the modern era.
Unfortunately, he failed to avoid the same exaggerated and coincidental plot developments which
he himself criticised. Furthermore, the characterisation displayed in the novel was described as,
weak and shows little psychological penetration 4 . Resigned to the realisation that his talent lay in
critique and translation, he decided to focus his attention on tutoring other writers to achieve what
he had tried to do. With Tsubouchi s guidance, and

description and URL, if available. You need to either select a small company or small non profit
that is already in business; however, if you work for a large company and would like to focus on
that then concentrate on one small part; for example: your department. This project will become
part of your portfolio created in the MBA Capstone course so create it for something that can be
shared (with whom you choose to share it with). For example: if you create a plan for your
department and are sharing confidential information you won t want to use it later in the

The Stereotypes Of Body Image In Society And Culture
The bodies seen in the media recently tend to represent extremely prejudiced beauty. Many
companies, especially in the fashion industry, value the appearance of the models, and appoint
them as a representation of their products. In addition, the models walking the runway at the
fashion show and posing in the magazines, are used as a display of beauty to represent the
idealized or required thinness and stylish . These are familiar sights in daily life, and obviously,
this dazzling world consists of privileged people, and there is no room for marginalized people.
As a result, these stereotypical body images are implanted in people s subconsciousnesses, and
unknowingly, people try to follow this trend. Also, through these biased images, people define
what is normal and what is the gendered role of women in this society. These unrealistic and
symbolic body images cause many social problems, and establishes the standard from the view of
privileged people, while ignoring the minority people out of the normal frame.
This essay explores how the biased body image influences on the current society and culture, and
how the marginalized people are categorized in this society. Firstly, in order to grasp the stereotype
of the body image, I will discuss about who has the authority to control their gender or the body
image.
As an example of the socially and culturally established ideal feminine , I want to mention about

The Patient That Will Be Discussed
The patient that will be discussed is going to be referred to as Ms. W. She is a forty nine year
old woman who is divorced, has three children, and does not work due to her behavior. Twelve
years ago she began thinking she had a bug infestation in her skin. She says that although she has
never actually seen the bugs, she can feel them under her skin. Ms. W claims that, they also cause
her pain. She was referred by a dermatologist after there was no physical evidence of a medical
skin condition.
These delusions consumed the majority of her time. She spent most of her days digging out the
lumps she saw in her skin, which appear all over her body. She washed herself and her clothes
repeatedly, and even went as far to bleach herself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is very discouraged and upset that they have not been able to help her. Ms. W is convinced
that people are staying away from her because they think she is dirty. When the topic is diverted
from bug infestation, she comes across as a very smart, engaging and balanced woman. .
Diagnoses
Given all of the information above, it is determined that, according to the DSM V, Ms. W has a
Delusional Disorder. In order to treat this disorder, a DSM V diagnosis is needed (Comer, 2014).
Diagnoses: Delusional Disorder, Depression Severity Rating: 4, 4 Additional Information: Medical
problems: none Psychosocial Problem: Loss of job, divorce, socially withdrawn Unlike
Schizophrenia, in which people experience bizarre delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech,
and inappropriate affects, individuals with Delusional Disorder have persistent delusions, but they
are not bizarre and not due to Schizophrenia. In addition, individuals with this disorder tend to be
jealous, grandiose, and experience somatic delusions. Ms. W fits the Delusional Disorder profile
because she has the somatic symptoms along with the delusion of the bug infestation. It is also
important to note that Ms. W is experiencing suffering and maladaptiveness, which are the two
most important criteria used for making a mental health diagnosis. These two symptoms are
notably observed in her physical suffering and anxious behavior and her

Business Skills Report
You will need certain skills and experiences to start and run a successful business. Many business
owners hire personnel to supply the skills that they lack. Below are a few questions you should
answer to help you identify your skills. By answering the following questions, you can identify the
skills, abilities, knowledge, and experience you possess or lack.
1) Do I have any skills to start and run a business?
2) Do I have any formal or informal business training?
3) Do I have any experience in a business similar to the one I plan to start?
4) Do I know what skills to look for when hiring personnel?
5) Will I be able to determine if the applicants meet those skills?

7) Can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After doing an analysis of your skills, you can then determine which business is right for you. If
you like working with people, you would not be happy with a job working on a machine in an
area where there is no contact with the public. If you want more control in your life, then you
probably would not be happy in a partnership. Do you consider yourself a morning or night
person? If you like working at nights, then a 24 hour copying business would be appropriate for you.
Do you consider yourself as a friendly service minded person who is willing to help others? If so,
then you would do well in a business that deals with providing a service to customers on a one on
one basis. Many people with these characteristics often participate at craft fairs, trade shows and
conventions because they like dealing with people.
Do you like being a leader and handling responsibilities? Then you would enjoy working in a
position where you are the boss and can make all the decisions. In a position like this, you will be
responsible for yourself and for others. To me, Recognizing the skills that you do not have and

Comparing Women in Anna Akhmatova’s Lot’s Wife,...
Powerful Women in Anna Akhmatova s Lot s Wife, Crucifixion, and Rachel
But Lot s wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt (New Geneva Study
Bible, Gen. 19. 26). Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James and Joseph),
and Zebedee s wife, the mother of James and John (Matt. 27:56). Jacob went over to the well and
rolled away the stone and watered his uncle s flock. Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and tears came to
his eyes...But when Jacob woke up in the morning it was Leah! What sort of trick is this? Jacob
raged at Laban. I worked seven years for Rachel. What do you mean by this trickery? (Gen. 29).

At the conclusion of the poem, Rachel is given a whimsical voice in Jacob s dream. She
beckons, Jacob, was it you who kissed me, loved me, and called me your black dove? (55).
Through Akhmatova s poem, Rachel is no longer the flat character on the page with no emotions,
but she is pleading to be loved, her heart is breaking, and she becomes a woman with wrenching
emotions.
In only eight brief lines in Crucifixion, Akhmatova, by contrasting Mary with other characters,
illumines the heart of the mother of Jesus. The poem begins with vivid imagery describing the
natural upheaval that occurred at the hour of Jesus last breath on the cross. The reader must pity
Mary because she witnesses her son, taking his final breath, painfully questioning his Father and
then in contrast turning to his mother and only telling her not to cry. How could a woman be
expected to not be pained at the death of her son? Again, Mary is contrasted with Jesus friends
Mary Magdalene and Peter. Both of their reactions to the crucifixion in the Bible are described,
but Mary is left as a blank slate, standing alone beneath the cross where no one as much as dared
to look that way (94). Akhmatova points out that in the Bible Jesus own mother is overlooked and
she effectively evokes pity from the

The Problem Of Good And Evil
The problem of good and evil in the world has been a challenging subject for hundreds, even
thousands of years. If God is all powerful omnipotent, all knowing omniscient, and all good
omnibenevolent, how can that same God allow evil to exist and for bad things to happen to good
people? Unfortunately, this question has no certain answer, only theories of explanation. This
question is also one of the main queries of my personal life that drives my beliefs agnosticism. If an
all powerful Goddoes exist, I can t imagine why He would allow such atrocities, such as cancers,
hunger, genocides just to name a few to occur in our world. I would like to dissect this essay and
discuss it with three different theories. The first theory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wants to transform us into the express image of His Son Jesus Christ. He wants to consecrate
and set us apart unto Himself (Otto, 2014). By God testing us, He is slowly molding us into
sanctified creatures that will be worthy of eternal happiness when we die. The third topic that
Otto touches on as to why God tests us is the simple fact to establish our faith in Him. Otto
makes a very valid point, It s very easy to have faith in God when everything is going good and
great, but let any kind of severe adversity come knocking on our doors, and many Christians will
start to lose their faith in God once the going starts to really get tough (Otto, 2014). I understand
these Christian concepts I understand that God wants devote followers, ones that will not turn
on Him in times of trouble, but daily struggles and challenges are much different than moral evil
God should not have to test our faith by placing cancer, famine, war, genocides, etc. into the
world. In my opinion these types of evils are unnecessary and excessive to be used as a test of
faith. The second theory I would like to visit is the idea that God exists, however He is not all
powerful and is unable to eliminate evil from the world. The author James Beebe illustrates that
argument with this theory: if God is all powerful, He would be able eliminate the evil and
suffering in the world (Beebe, 2012). Furthermore, if God were morally perfect, then surely He

The Period Of The Ottoman Empire And The Ming Dynasty
During their time period the Ottoman Empire and the Ming dynasty were two powerful states, they
both had a view of itself and its place in the world. Although they were both significantly powerful
the Ottoman Empire was superior compared to the Ming Dynasty. Important aspects of their states
such as religion and trade played a role in both States, but in a long run had a greater impact the
Ottoman Empire, for they were much more powerful than the Ming Dynasty. During the 1300 s
each empireduring this time had a religion that was significant to their state and impacted them, this
includes the Ottomans and the Ming. During the time period of the Ming dynasty, they based their
states religion of Neo Confucianism or new Confucianism . Neo Confucianism incorporates aspects
of Buddhism and Taoism into tradition Confucian beliefs. Their religion had a significant impact on
their State. After the Mongols conquered and ruled China, as a result China disunited. One of the
main reasons the Ming Dynasty lasted long as an empire, was for the reason the restored and

How Saturn Is The Planet
Good old Saturn. Now, in the charts we talked about, his Sun Saturn is on her Moon and then her
Saturn is on his Nodal axis so it plays an important role here. We re going to talk about Chiron too,
and hers is involved with the Moon T square as we talked about and his is conjunct her Venus
Uranus.
When Saturn makes an aspect with another person s personal planet or with an angle, it plays a key
role. Saturn is the planet involved with restriction, with our self doubt, with our commitment as
well, and our sense of realism, with what we feel is real. Therefore, as I mentioned earlier, it is
very common to see Saturn aspects in synastry charts of people in long term relationships,
because it shows this ability to commit, or to try and make a go of it. We re prepared to work at
that particular relationship. It generally makes the couple more determined to work at problems
and be in it for the long haul.
It s important to note that both Saturn and Chiron do often crop up in relationship synastry we
often see one or the other or both working in the cross aspects. They may not be the easiest to deal
with but we enter relationships for other reasons than just being happy, we are looking to
understand ourselves, as I said.
Now, you often see this in quite clear stages through a relationship which has these strong Saturn
aspects. You know, in the beginning there can be almost a reluctance to enter into a relationship or
a commitment with another person, because it s setting off

Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven Essay
An Analysis of Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
Death. A strong topic, frequently but solemnly discussed. However, when I read Edgar Allan Poe
s The Raven , I was immediately captivated by the new angle brought to my attention regarding
death. While the topic of death is usually associated with either sympathy or horror, Poe succeeded
in portraying a feeling caught between the two; and at the same time bringing forth new feelings I
would never thought to consider regarding death. These feelings reflect a sorrow so deep into a
psychological madness, a feeling that the pain death brings has ruined one forever. After analyzing
this poem I came to the conclusion that Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven demonstrates that the sorrow
the death of a loved one brings will stay with you forever. Poe communicated this theme through
abstract language , tone, and allusion.
The opening lines of The Raven identify the speaker as someone who feels tired and weak but is
still awake in the middle of a gloomy night. He passes the time by reading a strange book of
ancient knowledge. The first line of the poem contains alliteration of w in while, weak, and weary
to produce the effect of unsteadiness. This line also sets the poem s rhythmical pattern and
provides the first example of the use of internal rhyme in dreary and weary. The speaker tells of
becoming more tired and beginning to doze but being wakened by a sound that he assumes is a
quiet knock. Internal rhymes of napping, tapping,

Argumentative Essay On The Color Purple
According to the Collins Dictionary, the term belittle is when you speak of (something) as less
valuable or important than it really is . When evaluating the given definition, the word something
is key to the topic that will be delivered. This is because The color Purple by Alice Walker
exemplifies the time period between 1910 1940 in which the belittling of women was very
common. The word something stands out because during this time period (1910 1940) women
were treated as things and not human beings, which is why the definition given by the Collins
Dictionary represents more completely the conduct usually men manifested. We can infer that
belittling falls into the category of abuse, mainly because when you abuse of someone, either
physically or emotionally, you make the person feel inferior and powerless. Throughout the novel...

The Events And Encounters I Experienced On My Practicum
Introduction The purpose of the following report is to discuss the events and encounters I
experienced on my practicum. I completed my practicum with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement,
based out of Lethbridge, AB. I completed five, eight hour shifts, totaling to 40 hours. I had the
opportunity to ride along with two different peace officers. This allowed me to see two different
perspectives and ways of thinking with regards to the commercial vehiclejob. I completed by
practicum on the following dates and times: January 22, (2016) 1400 2200. January 23, 24
(2016) 1000 1800, and February 6, 7 (2016) 0700 1500. For the duration of my practicum we
patrolled many different areas and counties. We were not restricted to a small district and had
freedom to move about the Lethbridge district as we saw necessary.
Communication
I observed many different styles of verbal and non verbal communication throughout my
practicum. On one of the very first traffic stops myself and John Remus, the officer I rode along
with, made was due to a license plate not being visible. I noticed some key aspects of non verbal
communication. Upon approaching the window of a large semi truck we were met with a young
man who was clearly nervous and unaware of the reason for the stop. John stepped up onto the
running board of the semi and introduced himself and his occupation. John then notified the young
man of the reason for the stop and asked for the license and registration for the truck. John s

How Is Jerry Alike
I think Jerry, the main character, needs friends but is adventurous because he wants respect, he
is lonely, and above all he is awkward. In this realistic fiction book by Doris Lessing, the main
character Jerry, goes to a beach and he meets some boys that go through an underwater tunnel,
and he wants to go too. In the book, it says that Jerry s mom is a widow so he has no dad. This
could make him want friends even more than other people because he doesn t have a dad to play
catch with or something. I think that s why that Jerry wants to make friends with the big boys,
who were the other kids on the beach. The first piece of evidence is To be with them, of them,
was a craving that filled his whole body. This supports my claim that Jerry is lonely because this
piece of evidence means that Jerry doesn t just need friends, he also wants friends. This is
important because in order to have friends, you need to want friends (although exceptions exist
(me)). Another piece of evidence shows that Jerry is awkward on page 5, where it says and now, in
a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! Look! and he began splashing and kicking
in the water like a foolish dog. This shows he is awkward because no normal kid what splash and
kick in the water and scream Look at me! Look! Unless they are young... Show more content on

The Prayer On Public Schools
For much of the 20th Century and into the 21st, school prayer has been the focal point of an
ongoing debate about the position of religion in American civilization. The question of the legality
of prayer in public schools brings together a number of important notions in American government
and legal philosophy. Opponents and proponents of school prayer set forth their arguments in such
major constitutional issues as the separation of church and state, the right to free exercise of religion
, and the respective powers of local, state, and national governments. Since hearing its first case on
the issue in 1962, the United StatesSupreme Court has passed down at least one verdict dealing
with school prayer in each consecutive decade. In result, this makes school prayer a durable and
highly momentous topic in the fields of education and law. In the United States, there is a constant
between people being able to pray in public or not. For the supporters of public prayer, the
constitution supports their freedom of religion to be able to uplift prayers whenever they wish. For
the ones who oppose public prayer, the constitution states the separation of church and state. The
United States has had a moral decline since prayers were taken out of our schools. Until the early
20th Century, prayer was an accepted feature of public education. During the 18th and 19th
centuries, America continued a de facto Christian homeland, and public school curriculum imitated
this fact. The modern,

Psychoanalytic Theories Of Regress
Psychoanalytic theories suggest that depressive states are a direct result of loss, which causes
the individual to regress to a more vulnerable and helpless state that of an infant. Loss can be
experienced in many forms, the loss of a job, of a loved one, loss of health, of finances, of
possessions, of status, of freedom etc. The theory suggests that a depressed individual will
associate the loss with a traumatic childhood experience such as loss of the mothers affection. The
individual then adopts a similar outlook and self identity as they had when they were a child and
regress into that dependent and vulnerable state. The theory also suggests that the depressed
individuals subsequent behaviour can therefore be seen as an appeal for affection

Socrates Morality
This chapter focuses on what morality is. Socrates defines it as how we out to live and why.
However, there are many rival theories against the Socrates idea. In fact, it is hard to define
morality. So in this chapter, the authors utilize three real examples which are about handicapped
children: baby Theresa, conjoined twin Jodie and Many, and Tracy Latimer. For the case of
Theresa, Theresa had anencephaly when she was born, thus Theresa did not have the ability to
breathe and beat her heart, and was going to die within days. Additionally, she is not conscious. So,
her parents wanted to donate her organ to other children because they thought that it benefits
someone without harming Theresa. However, it did not happen due to the law. For... Show more

Since it would cause Mary s death, their parents reject the surgery, otherwise, the surgery was
performed by the court s permission. As the doctor expected, Jodie lived and Mary died. In the
other example, Tracy (whose mental level was like a three months baby) was killed by her
father because he thought that planed surgery is really hard for Tracy, and she was suffering
without hope of relief. In fact, her mother, who did not want the father to kill Tracy, was relieved
to find Tracy dead when she came back home. Even though he received a lenient sentence from
the trial court, he was sentenced from the Canadian Supreme Court to 10 years in prison. The
main point of the first two examples is whether people can kill someone for someone s benefit or
not. Furthermore, the last example gives us the idea of impartiality. These examples are contested
and controversial issues. Thus, we need better moral reasoning in order to conclude ethical issues,
and there are two things to build exceptional moral reasoning. The first thing is to get one s fact
straight because moral judgments are different from one s

supposed to represent a song of diversity. The diffrent types of jobs can be related to current day

The Dice Man
The Dice Man Journal Marty Smiley
The Dice Man written by Luke Rhinehart is an incredibly thought challenging and intentionally
provocative piece that knows no bounds and sought to cover every aspect of the human psyche.
The exploratory nature of this book transverse across subjects that most novels and authors would
dare not touch. Rape, murder, sexual experimentation, racism, drug use, adultery and senseless
blasphemy. The Dice Man covers them all, and when presented with the title quote This book will
change your life I would plainly agree and contend that it will not only change your life in some
way but severely change your perspective on things.

The protagonist s creations and development of the dice theory further intrigue the reader and the

The novel caused me to question my own values and spiritual beliefs. I thought about whether the

Due: March 28, 2007 Bradbury Thompson (1911 В– 1995) is often times called the father of

famous. Among those projects includes designing stamps for the postal office, redesigning World

This second version was smaller and was targeted to sell to families. Of course Bradbury s
success was not overlooked. In 1950, Bradbury received the National Society of Art Directors of

What s Definition Of Intelligence And Tell Me What...
1.Please parse Wechsler s definition of intelligence and tell me what exactly did Wechsler mean?
2.How did he come to understand intelligence as he did? Intelligence is the aggregate or global
capacity of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal effectively with his
environment (Wechsler, 1939 p. 3). Wechsler explains that it is global because it characterizes the
individual s behavior as a whole, it is aggregate because it is composed of elements or abilities
which are qualitatively differentiable. Wechsler further explains that intelligence is not just a sum
of these abilities. Intelligent behavior is a result of the interaction of these abilities. Intelligent
behavior can be determined by other factors than intellectual abilities, such as drive and incentive.
An excess of any given ability may add relatively little to the effectiveness of a behavior as a whole.
Wechsler differentiates between intelligence and intellectual abilities. Although intelligence is no
mere sum of intellectual abilities, the only way we can evaluate it quantitatively is by the
measurement of the various aspects of these abilities .(Wechsler, Wechsler conceptualization of
intelligence had been influenced by Spearman who pioneered the concept of g as global
intelligence. Although Spearman was reluctant to call g global intelligence, Wechsler pointed out
that g does equal intelligence because it measured intellectual tasks exclusively. Spearman s g
factor was the

to occur despite the Geneva Conventions. The memos were outlined by various government
officials who felt information gathering analysis needed to be strengthened. John Yoo, the Deputy
Assistant U.S. Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel and the Department of Justice
during the George W. Bush Aadministration, clearly emphasized in one of the first memos that
U.S. officials should not be charged for war crimes regarding the treatment and interrogation of
prisoners, especially since he argued thatthe Geneva Conventions did not apply to suspects of
terror. Similarly, Alberto Gonzales, who served as the 30th White House Counsel from 2001 to
2005, stressed the idea that the Taliban and al Qaedafell outsidethe Geneva Conventions since they
were stateless and were therefore were not a high contracting party. The memo stated that ...none of
the provisions of Geneva apply to our conflict with al Qaeda in Afghanistan or elsewhere through
the world because, among other reasons, al

The Digital Revolution Is Responsible For The Largest...
Introduction
The digital revolution has been instrumental in reshaping entire sectors, categories and industries
one of the most heavily affected is the retail sector. In the changing digital landscape, new
opportunities to innovate through the embracing of e tailing have meant that retail stores are no
longer geographically limited, but the rise of e tailing provides it s own set of unique challenges to
bricks and mortar retailing. This literature review will succinctly analyze and evaluate the effect
that e tailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, by looking at the ways in which the
bricks and mortar retail stores have had to develop their retailing strategy in an increasingly digital
world. Across the extant literature three themes were consistently detected around the effects online
retailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, in the forms of the responses of
physical retailers to this digital shift in the sector; fight it, use it or embrace it by fully integrating it
into an ongoing strategy. Each of these themes is discussed below.
Context
The digital revolution is responsible for the largest societal shift in history the rapid rate of
consumer uptake in the use of internet as a new technology beats the adoption of other
technological developments significantly. While it took decades for the widespread societal
adoption of television and radio, the internet was adopted far quicker from 16 million users in
1995, through to over 3

Donald Trump Interpretation
Accomplishments will prove to be a journey, not a destination. Dwight D. Eisenhower
This quote represents all that an american president, and really just any leader of any country
should be. A president should be able to take the trip through elections or even their past political
or even business experiences and still be able to get to their final destination. No, the journey may
not be easy, but what it proves to the people they are trying to persuade is that they have the effort
to put forth and keep going. No matter what happens or how far they fall, the fact that they get
back up, brush off the dirt and trudge on through the slop of politics is enough the prove they have
more than what it takes to perform well in the white house.
Donald trump won the presidential election due to many reasons, but some reasons were stronger
than others. His stance on gun control and abortion touched the heart of many true americans, while
hilary was winning the average foreign vote, Donald trump was out getting the votes from the true
red, white, and blue supporting American citizens. The issue of gun control was an issue weighing
heavily on many Americans across the nation. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The choice of life is something that a person should not be able to take away. If two people have
sex and the female gets pregnant, whether it be by accident or on purpose it is their
responsibility to care for the infant that they produced. Life is a blessing to everyone, even if the
baby was not planned, it is not the parents choice to decide if the child lives or dies. That baby
has its own life and its own future to live to. Trump says that on the topic the government should
not pay for the process of abortion because it is denying a person its right. It is denying a person its
right to live and diminishing that on which this country stands

How Does Edgar Allan Poe Use Symbols In The Masque Of The...
No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. (446). The Masque of the Red Death by
Edgar Allan Poe is about a devastating plague that is going around a country. Edgar Allan Poe is
one of the many gothic literature writers. He loves to write about insanity, murder, and the evil
within humans and the human mind. Poe s short story has a lot of symbolism and it all leads to
the theme that no one can escape death. Poe uses a lot of symbolism in this story. The author uses
different rooms and colors to represent the stages of life. That at the eastern extremity was hung for
example in blue and vividly blue were its window. The second chamber was purple in its ornaments
and tapestries ,and here the panes were purple. The third was green throughout, and so were the
casements. The fourth was furnished and lighted with orange the fifth with white the sixth with
violet. The seventh apartment was closely shrouded in black velvet tapestries that hung all over the
ceiling and down the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the Prince couldn t escape the inevitable. The was a sharp cry and the dagger dropped
gleaming upon the sable carpet, upon which, instantly afterwards, fell prostrate in death the
Prince Prospero. (452). This shows that even the prince wasn t above death. In the beginning of
the dark adventure the Prince thought he was above death, he was happy that half of the
population had fallen victim to the Red Death . Death doesn t care about social class or anything
like that, it will capture anyone it wants. At the end of the story it says that death had killed
everyone. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all. (452).
Death doesn t care if they are rich or poor, if they are beautiful or ugly. It doesn t matter because
no one is above death. Death will always win, and in this case it did. The guests thought they were
safe with the Prince and his castle but Death still found a way to catch

The Issue Of Insider Outsider
In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as
one of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009).
Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the
interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit researchbecoming objective (David
and Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their
own gaze in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who
common attributes are shared by the research participants. Acknowledged by Fay (1996) that
qualitative researchers as not being an insider during research are beneficial in term of assisting
the understanding of the researched group, he further proposed that researchers as an outsider
might be more sufficiently conceived the experience from the researched, might be more capable
to recognise the broader perspective, and might be more obviously to view what is happening,
since researchers as an insider are frequently intertwined with their own knowledge (Fay, 1996).
Among the three chosen studies, Mandiuc (2014) s study can be considered as an example of
outsider researcher since she did not clearly explained whether she has any experiences of
motherhood and/or on prostitution.
Yet, social researchers nowadays have increasingly deemed that the qualitative researchers should

John Winthrop And The Puritan Movement
There is no doubt that writings of Jonathan Edward s and John Winthrop had a tremendous
influence in the Puritan movement in the new world. They helped set values and establish order in
the new communities. Both writings deliver on puritan principles and had a critical role in shaping
much of the puritan religious beliefs, but granting all this they are tremendously different. The
reason why these writings have so little in common, despite both being puritandoctrines, is because
of the different situations each was written in. A Model of Christian Charity and Sinners in the
Hands of an Angry God were written about one hundred years apart, in two different centuries, and
most importantly at two different stages of the puritan movement.... Show more content on

This sermon was a radical departure in comparison to the other traditional Puritan texts. When
Edwards was writing his sermon he was beginning to witness deterioration in the original puritan
communities. He felt that the religious ideals first established by his predecessor Winthrop
were slipping among the puritans. Edwards wanted to have an impact on his readers. To him it
was more effective using scare tactics over positive encouragement to discuss proper conduct
and God s wrath. Edwards wanted to make sure the members of puritan society understood just
how important their behavior and conduct while on earth was. He wrote about the certain
punishments that awaited in hell for those who did not properly adhere to the puritan religious
values. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is full of strong and vivid images of hell,
comparing hell to a pit of fire and depicts how Unconverted men walk over the pit of hell on a
rotten covering (Edwards). He crafted this imagery as a deterrent example specifically to awaken
the readers, and to remind them of the power of God and his harshness when it comes to doing
away with sinners. This gave the puritans encouragement to try and build a perfect

Alcoholics Anonymous Report
Alcoholics Anonymous, a Religious Experience
I must admit, I had some anxiety about this assignment. I don t know if it was the negative
preconceived ideas I had or the thought of being a passenger on the ride of people s intimate
thoughts and feelings surrounding addiction. One thing is for sure, it was quite different than I
had imagined it would be. I grew up in a religious family, and I consider myself a Christian. Based
on my life long experiences AA had an air of religiosity and maybe a cult feel to it. Alcoholics
Anonymous program structure had its own set of beliefs, purpose and ritualistic procedures that
governed this community of people that made it a religion. Additionally, repetition, in working the
steps , serves as a tool to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the room resembled a church in that instead of a symbol of Christ, like a cross, there was a
large desk with the insignia AA hanging from the ceiling and a huge triangle affixed to the front
of the desk. There were twelve step books on the black chairs, which reminded me of how bibles
are in the pews of churches. There was an agenda of sorts, or announcements, just as they would
have in a church. They also took up an offering just as they do in church. There were readings
from the twelve step book, and there was a group leader sitting at the desk that guided the
meeting just as a pastor would do. There was even mention of God and higher power, but there
was one major difference, although they mentioned God, there was no power of God in the
meeting. As the attendees began to share their thoughts the first expression was Hi, I m Joe and
I m an alcoholic , this is a contradiction. In my mind it is self defeating to say you are something
you are so desperately trying not to be. It also is denying the power they possess at the same time
because the Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and
they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof , so if you truly believe you have conquered the addiction
it is inconsistent to say I m an alcoholic. On the other hand, maybe they are saying they haven t
conquered the addiction and they are always one foot into their addiction. Furthermore, I don t
see this as tapping into a higher power because there is no progression if your state of mind is
always saying you will always be an alcoholic. Why not say I will overcome my addiction, and I
m a former alcoholic? I understand addiction is a disease. And, the first step is admitting you have
a problem, but that is the first step not every step should include this. Most of the people there
attended several meetings weekly.

Lunch Ladies Essay
Do the lunch ladies really cherish the lives of the youth. This question is brought up everyday at
my lunch table. The reason why I ask this is because the food which is served is disgusting, or
healthy not only is the food that is prepared gross, but even the fruit the lunch ladies give us is
gross. The lunchladies go around the lunch room and ask each table are you guys going to eat
your fruit we say no and they grab them. They re not grabbing them to throw away they re
grabbing them to recycle and give to other kids, which is disgusting. They also serve pink meat,
mystery meat, cold food, and I never get full from the bull you give us. For children who get free
lunch they re fine with this issue, but for the ones who pay for lunch (which

I, Rigoberta MechГє, the Sequel
Background:
I was born January 9th, 1959 in Laj Chimel in Guatemala, as a member of the Quiche tribe, a tribe
made up of descendants of the Mayan Civilization. I lost my parents and brother in 1981, during
Guatemala s civil war because of my father s role as a government opposition leader. My brother,
Petrocinio, was kidnapped and killed by the army and my parents were killed in protest at the
Spanish Embassy, located in Guatemala city in 1981. ( A Tale of Suffering, Fame and
Controversy). My family was not alone in this injustice, however, many indigenous peasants who
were sympathetic to the rebels were killed during this war between the conservative government ...

Although this issue is not solved completely yet, I believe with continuous effort it can be changed
and I can hopefully create a positive economic impact in this way. I also organized the Guatemalan
Peace Coffee Program, which brought different indigenous groups together to produce coffee more
efficiently, which helped these groups economically. In 1992 I received the Nobel Peace Prize. The
committee claimed, MenchГє stands out as a vivid symbol of peace and reconciliation across
ethnic, cultural, and social dividing lines. In spite of this, my award was criticized by former
Guatemalan President Jorge Serrano Elias administration who claimed that I was not honorable
since I was supposedly tied to certain groups which have endangered Guatemala. Another critique
of mine was about my book; American anthropologist David Stoll wrote a book in response, called
Rigoberta MenchГє and the Story of all Poor Guatemalans, in which he claims that my accounts in
my autobiography are untrue, although I consider these accusations to be a racist political agenda,
and the Nobel Institute director Geir Lundestad refused to revoke my prize ( Rigoberta MenchГє.

Residential Paintings
As a homeowner there is nothing more exciting than the idea of painting your home yourself. A
fresh coat of paint makes everything look so much better right? You can choose colors for the
inside or the outside and just get to work! Maybe you will even use a paint sprayer because they
look like they get the job done fast!
Are you out of your mind? Have you thought about the work involved, especially if you are
considering doing your own exterior painting? All of the scraping and cleaning that needs to be
done, the preparation for laying on a new coat of paint and the small repairs that are going to be
inevitable are going to be your job. If you have experience, and time then go ahead and jump right
in there and get that job done. If you don t have any experience it might be time to think about
painting services. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A reputable painting company should be able to provide these.
Find out if they are experienced with house painting. Residential painting is very different from
commercial. If you need interior painting, make sure to specify. Talk to people who have had
similar jobs done for them. This is a great way to find a good painting service.
Ask for what materials and paint they are using. Make sure everything is quality. Quality lasts
longer and always makes for a much better finished product no matter what the painters skill.
Ask about a warranty! These are worth the money as they often deal with touch ups and other paint
issues inside and outside of your home. This can save you a lot of stress in the future.
If you have any other concerns such as environmental friendliness then it is up to you to ask
pertinent questions. You are the customer, and you are inquiring about purchasing their services
which should be reputable and consistent. Ask for a list of the products they plan to use on your
home. If you do not like their selections, you can always supply your own

  • 2. The Reaction To The Emancipation Proclamation Reaction to the Proclamation The Proclamation had little impact on slavery. The Proclamation only applied to places where it was under Confederate Control. The Proclamation was condemned in the South and debated in the North. Abolitionists criticized Lincoln for not going far enough. The Proclamation did nothing to free people who were enslaved in the border states. So, slaves in the Confederate states that were controlled by the Union s force were not affected. Northerners feared that all freed people coming to the North would cause a lot of unemployment. The Northern Africans response was way more positive. Abolitionist Frederick Douglas said: We shout for joy that we live to record this righteous decree. There was no immediate end to slavery. African Americans Join the War and African Soldiers The Emancipation Proclamation had two different immediate effects. The Proclamation inspired Southern slaves to free themselves by escaping to the protection of Union troops. This encouraged Africans to join the war. When the Civil War began, Africans volunteers were not allowed to join the Union army until July of 1862. In July of 1872, Congress authorized Lincoln to accept the announcement in the Emancipation Proclamation that Africans could now join the Union Army. In 1865 over 180,000 African Americans had been enlisted in the Union Army. More than half of the soldiers were from the South. The Africans from the South that became soldiers fought for others who were still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Saudi Arabia Culture From its rich and varied cultural history and practices to its stunningly beautiful cities full of unique architecture, Saudi Arabia is a fascinating country. With its acknowledged status as the birthplace of Islam, Saudi Arabia is an important cultural and religious hub for many who come seeking spiritual enlightenment or simply a chance to experience the bustling cities and thriving commerce of the prosperous metropolises. With a population of over 28 million people, Saudi Arabiais a vital part of the Middle East, with some major influence on the Arab countries around it. In order to fully appreciate the unique customs and overall societal expectations of this or any other country, one must understand not only its geographical location and a few key facts about it, but how it functions both as a nation made up of many diverse minds, and as a singular driving force in the complicated dance between all the nations of the world. With this in mind, there are several factors to consider when studying a country such as Saudi Arabia, namely, the main language, the major religion, the culture and cultural norms, and the business etiquette. One of the most defining components of any nation is the diversity of language that is often utilized by a countries citizen. Language is immensely powerful, and the breadth of vocabulary and concepts a language can offer often provide an individual the tools needed to not only interact with persons of a similar nationality, but to interact ... • 4. Equality Between African Americans And Women Essay Equality as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the quality or state of being equal : the quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc. This nation was founded on three main principles, which were liberty, freedom, and equality. Though our country has struggled on many occasions to maintain each of these principles, the hardest one to maintain seems to be that of equality. Every human being has a desire to be seen as equal, its basic human nature. We seek equality in every aspect of our lives, whether it is the equality of religion, race, social class, or even gender. The inhabitants of this nation have fought for and over equality since its foundation. Throughout this paper I would like to delve into the written works of two great minds that strove to gain equal rights for both African Americans and women. These two individuals took it upon themselves to achieve the seemingly impossible, and our nation is a better place due to their desire to seek change where change was needed. Abraham Lincolnand Elizabeth Stanton used their speeches and written works to fuel changes in this nation that are still seen today, and I can wholeheartedly say that this nation is a better place due to their desires to seek justice for those who were not given a voice to help themselves. This paper will show how Lincoln and Stanton used their writings to open the eyes of this nation to the injustices that were being shown to not only women and African Americans, but ... • 5. Positive Reinforcement Considering all of my lessons this semester, my main strength would be modeling the lesson for the students and praising the students with positive reinforcement. I feel as the students remained engaged and they were always willing to participate, which allowed them to meet all of the objectives in my lesson. I was impressed with how well much the students remembered and understood from my lessons. I presented the instruction and goals for the lesson prior to beginning the activity. During the lesson, I frequently asked the students questions in order for the students to remain thinking as well as focused. For the most part, my focus student met the lesson objectives during each lesson by accurately answering my assessment questions or showing me that he understands the material that was covered through examples. Within my writing lesson, my focus student achieved beyond the objective. My student was unsure what a slice of life story consisted of before beginning the lesson, but by the time our activities were completed, he know exactly what a slice of life story was (22:45). Additionally, within my guided reading lesson, my focus student did an exceptional job with spelling and understanding past tenseverbs (13:37). However, my student was not able to finish the lesson with the group, therefore I believe that he did not meet the objective due to the lack of practice with past tense verbs. Within my interdisciplinary lesson, Dannie matched all of the pictures of simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Happy Documentary Analysis In Happy by Roko Belic (a 2011 documentary), All I want is to be happy in life was a reoccurring statement from the people in the film. A majority of people in today s world agree with that statement. Everyone wants to be happy, but what truly defines happiness? The Happy documentary presents different things that make certain people happy, and what influences their feelings. The film does not only imply that direct message, but also paints a bigger picture for the audience. The bigger picture being: how ecology is the main factor behind people s happiness. The director of this film combines real experiences from people around the world along with research from scientists to explain our simple emotion, happiness. The filmmakers really amplified the idea that everyone can become happier. They filmed people from many different cultures around the world, to show that there are no barriers for being happy. Rather than starting the film with an interview from an average American, Happy began with an Indian rickshaw driver sharing his daily lifestyle. Although it may have seemed like a hard, tiring, and anticlimactic lifestyle to the audience, he was happy. The narrator reports, Research shows that he was as happy as the average American. This may seem unrealistic for the audience at first, considering the audience is still discovering this principle that happiness is diverse for other individuals. Especially for an audience member who finds that a majority of their happiness is related with money, this moment in the film may have not been easy for them to comprehend. This part of the film really amplifies the main claim from the director that happiness is mainly influenced by our ecology. The Indian rickshaw driver found most of his happiness when he came home, and interacted with his son. The idea of ecology has a lot to with the social interaction between individuals of the same species, in this case, it was the interaction between the rickshaw driver and his son. Not only did the interaction with his son brighten his mood, but his interaction with his neighbors also brought him to be happy. The film then proceeds to reveal some of the science behind our happiness and how happiness is measured. The film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. To What Extent Is Futabatei s Ukigumo, Japan s First... During the Meiji period, Japan was faced with a plethora of issues regarding its future. One of these issues was the future of Japanese literature. At that time, novels were still regarded as a third rate art form in Japan, though foreign books were highly sought after by the Japanese public. There were many ways to write Japanese, each system with its own use for specific occasions. And yet, the idea of writing in the style of natural conversational Japanese was considered radical and inappropriate for literature by the general public. Most foreign novels were translated poorly, into a writing style known as kanbun chГґ which was mostly based around Chinese loan words. As a result, this style had a very rigid and legal feel, due to Chinese... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Japan already had a very strong literary history prior to the Meiji restoration, however, if the Japanese people were to take this heritage into the modern era then they would have to adapt to this new style of writing fiction. While studying Russian at TГґkyГґ gaikoku go gakkГґ, a student named Futabatei Shimei realised the inefficiency of the kanbun chГґ and gabuntai styles when translating Russian novels into Japanese. And through logical continuation, he understood that writing a Japanese novel for the modern era would mean having to drop these traditional writing styles as well. In January 1886, Futabatei met with Tsubouchi ShГґyГґ. ShГґyГґ s criticism, ShЕЌsetsu Shinzui had struck a chord with Futabatei, who had envisioned many of the same ideas while reading Russian literature. Tsubouchi had himself published a novel known as TЕЌsei Shosei Kishitsu, which he had hoped would achieve his goals in becoming the book to bring Japanese literature into the modern era. Unfortunately, he failed to avoid the same exaggerated and coincidental plot developments which he himself criticised. Furthermore, the characterisation displayed in the novel was described as, weak and shows little psychological penetration 4 . Resigned to the realisation that his talent lay in critique and translation, he decided to focus his attention on tutoring other writers to achieve what he had tried to do. • 10. The Stereotypes Of Body Image In Society And Culture The bodies seen in the media recently tend to represent extremely prejudiced beauty. Many companies, especially in the fashion industry, value the appearance of the models, and appoint them as a representation of their products. In addition, the models walking the runway at the fashion show and posing in the magazines, are used as a display of beauty to represent the idealized or required thinness and stylish . These are familiar sights in daily life, and obviously, this dazzling world consists of privileged people, and there is no room for marginalized people. As a result, these stereotypical body images are implanted in people s subconsciousnesses, and unknowingly, people try to follow this trend. Also, through these biased images, people define what is normal and what is the gendered role of women in this society. These unrealistic and symbolic body images cause many social problems, and establishes the standard from the view of privileged people, while ignoring the minority people out of the normal frame. This essay explores how the biased body image influences on the current society and culture, and how the marginalized people are categorized in this society. Firstly, in order to grasp the stereotype of the body image, I will discuss about who has the authority to control their gender or the body image. As an example of the socially and culturally established ideal feminine , I want to mention about Barbie doll. Barbie doll has been an object of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She beckons, Jacob, was it you who kissed me, loved me, and called me your black dove? (55). Through Akhmatova s poem, Rachel is no longer the flat character on the page with no emotions, but she is pleading to be loved, her heart is breaking, and she becomes a woman with wrenching emotions. In only eight brief lines in Crucifixion, Akhmatova, by contrasting Mary with other characters, illumines the heart of the mother of Jesus. The poem begins with vivid imagery describing the natural upheaval that occurred at the hour of Jesus last breath on the cross. The reader must pity Mary because she witnesses her son, taking his final breath, painfully questioning his Father and then in contrast turning to his mother and only telling her not to cry. How could a woman be expected to not be pained at the death of her son? Again, Mary is contrasted with Jesus friends Mary Magdalene and Peter. Both of their reactions to the crucifixion in the Bible are described, but Mary is left as a blank slate, standing alone beneath the cross where no one as much as dared to look that way (94). Akhmatova points out that in the Bible Jesus own mother is overlooked and she effectively evokes pity from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Problem Of Good And Evil The problem of good and evil in the world has been a challenging subject for hundreds, even thousands of years. If God is all powerful omnipotent, all knowing omniscient, and all good omnibenevolent, how can that same God allow evil to exist and for bad things to happen to good people? Unfortunately, this question has no certain answer, only theories of explanation. This question is also one of the main queries of my personal life that drives my beliefs agnosticism. If an all powerful Goddoes exist, I can t imagine why He would allow such atrocities, such as cancers, hunger, genocides just to name a few to occur in our world. I would like to dissect this essay and discuss it with three different theories. The first theory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wants to transform us into the express image of His Son Jesus Christ. He wants to consecrate and set us apart unto Himself (Otto, 2014). By God testing us, He is slowly molding us into sanctified creatures that will be worthy of eternal happiness when we die. The third topic that Otto touches on as to why God tests us is the simple fact to establish our faith in Him. Otto makes a very valid point, It s very easy to have faith in God when everything is going good and great, but let any kind of severe adversity come knocking on our doors, and many Christians will start to lose their faith in God once the going starts to really get tough (Otto, 2014). I understand these Christian concepts I understand that God wants devote followers, ones that will not turn on Him in times of trouble, but daily struggles and challenges are much different than moral evil God should not have to test our faith by placing cancer, famine, war, genocides, etc. into the world. In my opinion these types of evils are unnecessary and excessive to be used as a test of faith. The second theory I would like to visit is the idea that God exists, however He is not all powerful and is unable to eliminate evil from the world. The author James Beebe illustrates that argument with this theory: if God is all powerful, He would be able eliminate the evil and suffering in the world (Beebe, 2012). Furthermore, if God were morally perfect, then surely He would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Important aspects of their states such as religion and trade played a role in both States, but in a long run had a greater impact the Ottoman Empire, for they were much more powerful than the Ming Dynasty. • 17. How Saturn Is The Planet Good old Saturn. Now, in the charts we talked about, his Sun Saturn is on her Moon and then her Saturn is on his Nodal axis so it plays an important role here. We re going to talk about Chiron too, and hers is involved with the Moon T square as we talked about and his is conjunct her Venus Uranus. When Saturn makes an aspect with another person s personal planet or with an angle, it plays a key role. Saturn is the planet involved with restriction, with our self doubt, with our commitment as well, and our sense of realism, with what we feel is real. Therefore, as I mentioned earlier, it is very common to see Saturn aspects in synastry charts of people in long term relationships, because it shows this ability to commit, or to try and make a go of it. We re prepared to work at that particular relationship. It generally makes the couple more determined to work at problems and be in it for the long haul. It s important to note that both Saturn and Chiron do often crop up in relationship synastry we often see one or the other or both working in the cross aspects. They may not be the easiest to deal with but we enter relationships for other reasons than just being happy, we are looking to understand ourselves, as I said. Now, you often see this in quite clear stages through a relationship which has these strong Saturn aspects. You know, in the beginning there can be almost a reluctance to enter into a relationship or a commitment with another person, because it s setting off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven Essay An Analysis of Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven Death. A strong topic, frequently but solemnly discussed. However, when I read Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven , I was immediately captivated by the new angle brought to my attention regarding death. While the topic of death is usually associated with either sympathy or horror, Poe succeeded in portraying a feeling caught between the two; and at the same time bringing forth new feelings I would never thought to consider regarding death. These feelings reflect a sorrow so deep into a psychological madness, a feeling that the pain death brings has ruined one forever. After analyzing this poem I came to the conclusion that Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven demonstrates that the sorrow the death of a loved one brings will stay with you forever. Poe communicated this theme through abstract language , tone, and allusion. The opening lines of The Raven identify the speaker as someone who feels tired and weak but is still awake in the middle of a gloomy night. He passes the time by reading a strange book of ancient knowledge. The first line of the poem contains alliteration of w in while, weak, and weary to produce the effect of unsteadiness. This line also sets the poem s rhythmical pattern and provides the first example of the use of internal rhyme in dreary and weary. The speaker tells of becoming more tired and beginning to doze but being wakened by a sound that he assumes is a quiet knock. Internal rhymes of napping, tapping, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Argumentative Essay On The Color Purple According to the Collins Dictionary, the term belittle is when you speak of (something) as less valuable or important than it really is . When evaluating the given definition, the word something is key to the topic that will be delivered. This is because The color Purple by Alice Walker exemplifies the time period between 1910 1940 in which the belittling of women was very common. The word something stands out because during this time period (1910 1940) women were treated as things and not human beings, which is why the definition given by the Collins Dictionary represents more completely the conduct usually men manifested. We can infer that belittling falls into the category of abuse, mainly because when you abuse of someone, either physically or emotionally, you make the person feel inferior and powerless. I completed my practicum with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, based out of Lethbridge, AB. I completed five, eight hour shifts, totaling to 40 hours. I had the opportunity to ride along with two different peace officers. This allowed me to see two different perspectives and ways of thinking with regards to the commercial vehiclejob. I completed by practicum on the following dates and times: January 22, (2016) 1400 2200. January 23, 24 (2016) 1000 1800, and February 6, 7 (2016) 0700 1500. For the duration of my practicum we patrolled many different areas and counties. We were not restricted to a small district and had freedom to move about the Lethbridge district as we saw necessary. Communication I observed many different styles of verbal and non verbal communication throughout my practicum. On one of the very first traffic stops myself and John Remus, the officer I rode along with, made was due to a license plate not being visible. I noticed some key aspects of non verbal communication. Upon approaching the window of a large semi truck we were met with a young man who was clearly nervous and unaware of the reason for the stop. John stepped up onto the running board of the semi and introduced himself and his occupation. John then notified the young man of the reason for the stop and asked for the license and registration for the truck. John s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this realistic fiction book by Doris Lessing, the main character Jerry, goes to a beach and he meets some boys that go through an underwater tunnel, and he wants to go too. In the book, it says that Jerry s mom is a widow so he has no dad. This could make him want friends even more than other people because he doesn t have a dad to play catch with or something. I think that s why that Jerry wants to make friends with the big boys, who were the other kids on the beach. The first piece of evidence is To be with them, of them, was a craving that filled his whole body. This supports my claim that Jerry is lonely because this piece of evidence means that Jerry doesn t just need friends, he also wants friends. This is important because in order to have friends, you need to want friends (although exceptions exist (me)). Another piece of evidence shows that Jerry is awkward on page 5, where it says and now, in a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! The Prayer On Public Schools For much of the 20th Century and into the 21st, school prayer has been the focal point of an ongoing debate about the position of religion in American civilization. The question of the legality of prayer in public schools brings together a number of important notions in American government and legal philosophy. Opponents and proponents of school prayer set forth their arguments in such major constitutional issues as the separation of church and state, the right to free exercise of religion , and the respective powers of local, state, and national governments. Since hearing its first case on the issue in 1962, the United StatesSupreme Court has passed down at least one verdict dealing with school prayer in each consecutive decade. In result, this makes school prayer a durable and highly momentous topic in the fields of education and law. In the United States, there is a constant between people being able to pray in public or not. For the supporters of public prayer, the constitution supports their freedom of religion to be able to uplift prayers whenever they wish. For the ones who oppose public prayer, the constitution states the separation of church and state. The United States has had a moral decline since prayers were taken out of our schools. Until the early 20th Century, prayer was an accepted feature of public education. During the 18th and 19th centuries, America continued a de facto Christian homeland, and public school curriculum imitated this fact. The modern, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of course Bradbury s success was not overlooked. In 1950, Bradbury received the National Society of Art Directors of the Year award. In 1975 he received AIGA Gold Medal award. And finally, in 1977 Bradbury was placed into the Art Director s Hall of Fame (Pioneer). As for my personal thoughts; besides being extremely impressed by Bradbury Thompson s success I find it very interesting as to how broad his different work reached. It really goes to show that graphic design can lead one to several different types of work. After reading up on Bradbury Thompson I can only be overtaken by motivation and excitement in hoping that my career can lead me to as many exciting projects and places as Bradbury Thompson s did. As for Bradbury s work, he truly makes several masterpieces and deserves all the respect, awards, and recognition. He does very well at expressing meaningful concepts. I also greatly appreciate his interest in making the English language easier to understand and read. I am interested to see the bible he redesigned. He must have truly ... • 38. What s Definition Of Intelligence And Tell Me What... 1.Please parse Wechsler s definition of intelligence and tell me what exactly did Wechsler mean? 2.How did he come to understand intelligence as he did? Intelligence is the aggregate or global capacity of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal effectively with his environment (Wechsler, 1939 p. 3). Wechsler explains that it is global because it characterizes the individual s behavior as a whole, it is aggregate because it is composed of elements or abilities which are qualitatively differentiable. Wechsler further explains that intelligence is not just a sum of these abilities. Intelligent behavior is a result of the interaction of these abilities. Intelligent behavior can be determined by other factors than intellectual abilities, such as drive and incentive. An excess of any given ability may add relatively little to the effectiveness of a behavior as a whole. Wechsler differentiates between intelligence and intellectual abilities. Although intelligence is no mere sum of intellectual abilities, the only way we can evaluate it quantitatively is by the measurement of the various aspects of these abilities .(Wechsler, Wechsler conceptualization of intelligence had been influenced by Spearman who pioneered the concept of g as global intelligence. Although Spearman was reluctant to call g global intelligence, Wechsler pointed out that g does equal intelligence because it measured intellectual tasks exclusively. Spearman s g factor was the ... Introduction The digital revolution has been instrumental in reshaping entire sectors, categories and industries one of the most heavily affected is the retail sector. In the changing digital landscape, new opportunities to innovate through the embracing of e tailing have meant that retail stores are no longer geographically limited, but the rise of e tailing provides it s own set of unique challenges to bricks and mortar retailing. This literature review will succinctly analyze and evaluate the effect that e tailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, by looking at the ways in which the bricks and mortar retail stores have had to develop their retailing strategy in an increasingly digital world. Across the extant literature three themes were consistently detected around the effects online retailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, in the forms of the responses of physical retailers to this digital shift in the sector; fight it, use it or embrace it by fully integrating it into an ongoing strategy. Each of these themes is discussed below. Context The digital revolution is responsible for the largest societal shift in history the rapid rate of consumer uptake in the use of internet as a new technology beats the adoption of other technological developments significantly. While it took decades for the widespread societal adoption of television and radio, the internet was adopted far quicker from 16 million users in 1995, through to over 3 ... Eisenhower This quote represents all that an american president, and really just any leader of any country should be. A president should be able to take the trip through elections or even their past political or even business experiences and still be able to get to their final destination. No, the journey may not be easy, but what it proves to the people they are trying to persuade is that they have the effort to put forth and keep going. No matter what happens or how far they fall, the fact that they get back up, brush off the dirt and trudge on through the slop of politics is enough the prove they have more than what it takes to perform well in the white house. His stance on gun control and abortion touched the heart of many true americans, while hilary was winning the average foreign vote, Donald trump was out getting the votes from the true red, white, and blue supporting American citizens. The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe is about a devastating plague that is going around a country. Edgar Allan Poe is one of the many gothic literature writers. He loves to write about insanity, murder, and the evil within humans and the human mind. Poe s short story has a lot of symbolism and it all leads to the theme that no one can escape death. • 43. The Issue Of Insider Outsider In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as one of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009). Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit researchbecoming objective (David and Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their own gaze in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who common attributes are shared by the research participants. Acknowledged by Fay (1996) that qualitative researchers as not being an insider during research are beneficial in term of assisting the understanding of the researched group, he further proposed that researchers as an outsider might be more sufficiently conceived the experience from the researched, might be more capable to recognise the broader perspective, and might be more obviously to view what is happening, since researchers as an insider are frequently intertwined with their own knowledge (Fay, 1996). Among the three chosen studies, Mandiuc (2014) s study can be considered as an example of outsider researcher since she did not clearly explained whether she has any experiences of motherhood and/or on prostitution. • 45. John Winthrop And The Puritan Movement There is no doubt that writings of Jonathan Edward s and John Winthrop had a tremendous influence in the Puritan movement in the new world. They helped set values and establish order in the new communities. Both writings deliver on puritan principles and had a critical role in shaping much of the puritan religious beliefs, but granting all this they are tremendously different. The reason why these writings have so little in common, despite both being puritandoctrines, is because of the different situations each was written in. A Model of Christian Charity and Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God were written about one hundred years apart, in two different centuries, and most importantly at two different stages of the puritan movement.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This sermon was a radical departure in comparison to the other traditional Puritan texts. When Edwards was writing his sermon he was beginning to witness deterioration in the original puritan communities. He felt that the religious ideals first established by his predecessor Winthrop were slipping among the puritans. Edwards wanted to have an impact on his readers. To him it was more effective using scare tactics over positive encouragement to discuss proper conduct and God s wrath. Edwards wanted to make sure the members of puritan society understood just how important their behavior and conduct while on earth was. He wrote about the certain punishments that awaited in hell for those who did not properly adhere to the puritan religious values. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is full of strong and vivid images of hell, comparing hell to a pit of fire and depicts how Unconverted men walk over the pit of hell on a rotten covering (Edwards). He crafted this imagery as a deterrent example specifically to awaken the readers, and to remind them of the power of God and his harshness when it comes to doing away with sinners. There were readings from the twelve step book, and there was a group leader sitting at the desk that guided the meeting just as a pastor would do. There was even mention of God and higher power, but there was one major difference, although they mentioned God, there was no power of God in the meeting. As the attendees began to share their thoughts the first expression was Hi, I m Joe and I m an alcoholic , this is a contradiction. In my mind it is self defeating to say you are something you are so desperately trying not to be. It also is denying the power they possess at the same time because the Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof , so if you truly believe you have conquered the addiction it is inconsistent to say I m an alcoholic. On the other hand, maybe they are saying they haven t conquered the addiction and they are always one foot into their addiction. Furthermore, I don t see this as tapping into a higher power because there is no progression if your state of mind is always saying you will always be an alcoholic.
