Bike Science Project
The scientific question of the project was, Does the size of a tire affect the bike s speed? The
hypothesis was , If the smaller tires were used, then the bike would go faster. The important
procedures were: Make sure all equipment is ready. Test the standard wheel of 1 rotation or
pedal a second to ride to the finish line. Test smaller and bigger wheels. Record data and have at
least 3 trials. Record the data on a piece of paper and compare results to your hypothesis. The
Independent variable is the size of the wheel on the bike. The Dependent variable is the standard
wheel or tire on the bike. The control group was the bike s speed and the standard wheel or tire.
The Experimental group is the other tires or wheels being tested on the bike. The control variables
were the rate of pedaling , the same bike model was used, and the same distance for... Show more

The background research had talked about different types and sizes of wheel and the distance in
can cover in a certain amount of time. The tools used were: a stopwatch ,to record the speed. A
bike and 3 different tires were used to conduct the main part of the experiment. Tools like a
wrench was used to help fix the bikes tires and replace the smaller, bigger, or standard tires. The
science experiment was very successful and went well. Other considerations are to use more
different tires to have a variety of information to make sure there were no extraneous variables in
the experiment that caused the results to have the outcome it had. More trials could have been
used to also help make a more of an accurate data table to also make sure there were no
extraneous variables. Other things that could have been done was to have made sure the surface
was level at all times. It could have an effect on the speed of the bike. It could have caused the data

How Ceramic Cutting Tools Have Been Around For Over 100 Years
David Golding
Term Paper
Mech 4320
Dr. Lewis
Advanced Cutting Materials Ceramic cutting tools have been around for over 100 years. The most
common materials used prior to this were iron and steel. These metals are effective in cutting but
have limitations that ceramics do not. There are many different types of materials used in the
production of ceramic based cutting tools. The production of ceramics have seen various
advancements since its birth, and continues to be more dependable as new technologies are
applied to lower cost and boost efficiency in development. Advanced cutting ceramics is a $30
million (US) industry per the Department of Energy and has seen increased growth in the last 10
years. Alumina (гЂ–AlгЂ—_2 O_3) and Silicon Nitride (гЂ–SiгЂ—_3 N_4) are most commonly
found in a ceramic cutting material. Their attributes differ for their own specific purpose, but they
all have the same core characteristics. They all demonstrate elevated hardness, strength, and thermal
conductivity. Thermal conductivity is one of the main advantages in using ceramics over other
materials. Ceramics can withstand temperatures over 4000℉ in its operation, while Carbide can
only reach 1600℉. Cutting materials at this heat allows for the material being cut to be softened,
allowing for a smoother, easier pass. These high temperatures are unattainable for carbide tools
because they exceed its melting point. Ideal machining temperatures (e.g., 2200В°F for nickel
alloys) can be accommodated by

Games Being The Blame Of Violence
A third example of games being the blame of violence was the case of Adam Lanza. On 14
December 2012, he committed the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, after which the
first reports from media misidentified the shooter as his brother, Ryan Lanza. On Facebook
Ryan had liked the Mass Effect page which lead to an internet frenzy immediately launched at
the page, dubbing the developes as child killers. After the error had been discovered that it was
really Adam to blame, news stories jumped to link the games Starcraft and Dance Dance
Revolution. Later a UK tabloid claimed that Adam Lanza had an obsession with Call of Duty,
which also got widespread coverage online. This in turn encouraged a small town near Sandy
Hook set up an event to collect and burn the towns video games in exchange for a gift certificate.
A CBS report alleged that anonymous law enforcement sources suggested a link to games, which
was later dismissed by the Connecticut police, quoted that it was all speculation. The game
however did arouse a wave of effort against violent games. The twist here is that Adam s most
favourite games were non violent (Such as Dance Dance Revolution (Which he played for hours
regularly) and Super Mario Brothers ). In court his mother was quoted as saying he played zoned
out and like a zombie.
The issue that video games may be to blame for creating violence problems exists because of some
examples/events that the people involved had played games before

Monologue Of Mrs Light
In stark contrast, to Roderick s recklessness towards Christina, James shows Mrs Light s ardent
devotion towards her daughter, whom she once regarded as, a very ugly baby; for the first two
years I could hardly bear to look at her... (208), and such dedication is the direct result of a
religious revelation that, in fact, Christina is profoundly beautiful. Mrs Light s about face
concerning Christina s prettiness, she conveys to Rowland as a mythological tale in which she sees
a little girlof four or five, very fantastically dressed (208) whom she is taken aback by the child s
beauty and wishes if my poor Christina were only like that! (208) Then Mrs Light realises the
child standing before her in a queer little dress is, in fact,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helplessness is apparent by his emotional outburst to her astute comments: thus proving her
point that he is weak. While the couple talk, Rowland observes them in secret and hears the
twosomes discuss among other things Roderick s fiancГ©e, Miss Garland. Again, Christina
strikes a nerve concerning Roderick s treatment of his fiancГ©e, I believe that, really, you don t
greatly care for your friend in America... (216), and what she says next is the trait of someone
who is perceptive in judging the moral conduct of others, any more than you do for me. You are
one of the men who care only for themselves and for what they can make of themselves. (216)
Miss Light s statement seems hypocritical as she too is self absorbed, nevertheless, her awareness
of this fault in Roderick and even herself alerts the reader to the possibility she cares enough for
the artist in order for him to leave her with some semblance of dignity.
At any rate, Roderick tries to disprove her theory that he is

Look For It in Bonnie Jo Campbell s Short Story...
Look For It I have seen short story collections at garage sales, thrift stores, and bookstores. I have
never actually picked one up and read the front or the back covers. Short stories never interested
me for the simple fact of their being short. With Bonnie Jo Campbell s writing in her collection
American Salvage I can appreciate a story without the full beginning, middle, and end. Readers
will be occupied by Campbell s use of detail and her depressing story lines with hidden love.
Campbell writes realistic stories that will grip your bones. As the reader you might forget how
short a story may be because of the way Campbell grabs your attention instantly. The Yard Man
begins explaining the sightings of a snake. The main character Jerry explains the snake as one of
a kind. He attempts touching the snake but the snake and Jerry are disrupted by a shriek from
his wife Natalie. She has full view of the snake. Natalie demands Jerry kill the snake instantly.
Jerry tries, but fails as the snake slithers across the overgrown grass. Jerry informs shaken up
Natalie the snake is nothing he has ever seen before and the possibility of the rareness. She
refuses to live where snakes live and is so terribly tired of the house they live in. Natalie likes
nothing of the house and is very adamant on making that known to Jerry. She has two children
from a previous marriage that Jerry takes in as his own. He is trying to accomplish all the

Granny Pods Research Paper
Granny Pods in Your Backyard as a Solution To Nursing Homes Research shows that, in
developed countries, the number of older people are growing much faster than any other age
group. By the year 2050 the number of people older than 60 will exceed the number of those
younger than 15. Hawing this in mind, it is clear that nursing homes are going to be crowded and
much more expensive in the future. So, instead of being thrown into one, propose to your children

Benefits First and the most important benefit of having a granny pod instead of going into a
nursing home is that you are close to your love ones, literally in their backyard. As you ve seen
earlier in the article, granny pods are much cheaper than nursing homes, so there s benefit number
two. Some would say that residents in the nursing homes will have a full and constant attention
and that the hygiene is better there than in the backyard cottage. Well, hygiene has to be at the
highest level whether you are at the nursing home or in granny pod. Having in mind the granny
pods aren t huge structures with hundreds of rooms, keeping them clean isn t going to be much of
a struggle. I don t think that you will need more than two hours a week to keep yours clean; and

Wuthering Heights Childhood
The presentation of childhood is a theme that runs through two generations with the novel
beginning to reveal the childhood of Catherine and Hindley Earnshaw, and with the arrival of the
young Liverpudlian orphan, Heathcliff. In chapter four, BrontГ« presents Heathcliff s bulling and
abuse at the hands of Hindley as he grows increasingly jealous of Heathclifffor Mr. Earnshaw, his

Trader Joe s Strategic Planning
Introduction [Amy] Trader Joe s is a leading firm that is taking over the supermarket industry.
The company completely altered the idea of a traditional supermarket and turned it into a whole
new experience for consumers. Through Trader Joe s strategic planning, they ve paved a way
for consumers to have high quality products while paying low prices. Trader Joe s provides
fewer products that are health conscious, unique and privately labeled. Trader Joe s has utilized
this, secrecy, employee job satisfaction, culture and starting trends to its advantage. Within its
industry companies are divided into different strategic groups. Aldi, similar Trader Joe s
strategic planning, is apart of the cultured discount neighborhood market. This firm continues
the low stock, less waste, small store, and low price method. A Walmart express used a hybrid
strategy that made it a cross between a grocery, pharmacy, and convenience store. Tesco is the
third that falls with small neighborhood markets strategy and focused on organic products,
similar to Trader Joe s. As the company grows and expands, there is caution in change of Trader
Joe s processes. With growth, there comes new management and employees which can alter the
way a specific store is ran and there is worry of change in the stores normal procedures. Change
that doesn t follow the process could ultimately result in a downfall, so this can be considered a
key challenge to watch in the future. Increased bureaucracy is additionally a

The Legalization Of Drugs In The United States
I believe as a nation we have done well when it comes to learning from our mistakes; however,
the debate over the issue of drugs in our country has truly caused turmoil throughout the nation. It
is an issue that does not choose sides; rather it strikes every race, religion, and economic class
across the country. We all have our beliefs about the topic of drugs in our country and how it
impacts us as a whole. United Statescitizens believe that drugs are one of the major problems that
this country is dealing with today. The belief that drugs are one of the leading contributors to
elevated crime rates is what causes citizens in our country to view all drugs in a negative light. It

current system of making drugs illegal is an issue. We have been fighting a war on drugs that
never seems to end. If our country were to legalize drugs, there would be a decrease in crime
rate, which would be terrific. American s in today s world believe that the majority of people who
want illegal drugs would steal in order to obtain their drugs. Edmund Harrett, Deputy Chief and
Executive Officer, of the Narcotics Division, New York City Police Department, New York, writes,
Many legalization supporters believe that property crime, particularly burglary, larceny from
persons (purse snatchers, chain snatchers, and pickpockets), auto theft, theft from autos, and
shoplifting would decrease by 40 50 percent if drugs were made legal. Similarly, many believe that
the terms drug related murder and drive by shooting would become outdated once drugs were
legalized. In their view, turf wars would be eliminated because there would no longer be a need
to fight for one s turf (policechiefmagazine.com). This quote reveals that there is a serious drug
problem in this country, and with legalization we would reduce crime, which is always a
positive. By legalizing low level drugs, we would have a lower crime rate for petty crimes, simply
because those who used to steal to fund their habit, would have no reason to anymore. It would be
terrific for our government if we had fewer petty criminals plugging up our court systems. Allowing
them to focus more time on handling higher risk

Previously, in literature, different production strategies...
Previously, in literature, different production strategies for customer order fulfillment have
been discussed. These strategies can be classified as Make to Stock (MTS), Make to Order
(MTO), Assemble to Order (ATO) and Engineer to Order (ETO) [42, 43]. These strategies differ
with respect to where stock is held in the system and where the production system is decoupled
from customer order [44]. The adoption of these strategies depends on the customer s willingness
to wait as discussed by Mather in his P/D ratio, where he compares the production system s
response time (P) to the customers willingness to wait (D) [45]. Company s decision to adopt any
of these approaches is of great strategic importance [46] as it strongly affects the way a... Show

The first type, manual assembly, is the most reconfigurable assembly system since humans are
very convertible and can easily adapt to new tasks when the line requires convertibility or
scalability. If the system is scaled down, there are fewer people on the line and each person has
to perform more tasks [22]. An ATO system with manual assembly is said to be performing well
if it provides customers with the required variety, while still achieving costs efficiency and
responsiveness. However, as product variety becomes quite high in manual mixed model
assembly systems, assembly can become very complex. The system performance is negatively
affected by the complexity that is induced by variety. This complexity may cause human errors
and in turn impacts system performance [52]. According to Hu Et al. (2008) in a mix model
assembly system there are two types of complexities; feed complexity and transfer complexity.
Feed complexity can be regarded as operator choice complexity at station level, where operator face
uncertainty about making choices regarding picking right part, п¬Ѓxture, tool, assembly procedure,

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows ( 1959 )...
The French New Wave, or Nouvelle Vague, is among the most revolutionary film eras in the
history of cinema. Spurred as a result of major shifts in economic, social and technological norms
within post WW11 France, the New Wave conceived a renewed mode of expression across various
creative industries. Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows(1959) and Jean Luc Godard s Breathless
(1960) are two films, which despite major disparities, would go on to exemplify integral
characteristics of the movement in the following years. Perhaps, the best way to truly appreciate the
fervor of New Wave cinema is to examine the context of its inception. Both the stylistic and
thematic qualities of French New Waveworks directly reflect the implicit values, virtues and vices
possessed by the emerging youth culture of the late 1950s, which consequently posed a
fundamental challenge to the institutions, ideas and attitudes of the past.
To fully comprehend why and how this cinematic motion took place, it is valuable here to
establish the wider social climate of France at the time, and the active forces which heavily
shaped New Wave cinema. Between the years of 1945 and 1975, France would undergo thirty
glorious years of economic growth, urbanization, and a considerable baby boom, all of which
came to expand and radically alter the parameters of French culture (Haine 33). Beneath the surface
affluence however, France was in a state of deep self evaluation and consciousness. Following

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Women Fashion
4.ADVANCEMENTS IN WOMEN CLOTHING
Fashion *is the style and custom prevalent at a given time. To some it s an art form, to others it s
like a part of their culture and religion but to most it is a method of utilizing cloth to show or hide
something about themselves. Fashion can be used to serve as an extension of one s own
personality or to disguise one s own true self. (Ukessays,2015)
Language **disguises the thought, so that from the external form of the clothes one cannot infer
the form of the thought they clothe, because the external form of the clothes is constructed with
quite another object than to let the form of the body be recognized (Calefato,2004.p.13).

Life In Ancient Egypt
I chose Egypt for my report, first I will start off with Egyptian life.
The Egyptians lives were normally all based on the Nile River, they depended very much so on it.
Once it would flood this meant they were wealthy with the land again. The Egyptians would grow
their own crops, if they could not grow a certain crop that they wanted they would go to the villages
and trade what they had grown with someone for what crop they wanted. Ancient Egypt
population solely consisted of nobles, craftsmen, and farmers. Egyptians also had board games
and it did not make a difference what class you belonged to, you could play if you were poor or a
pharaoh which made this popular during this time.

they would be exposed. They soon discovered the dead that were being buried in the coffins did
not look like the dead in the desert, so they figured they would embalm the bodies to make them
look life like once again. First they would wash the dead body with wine then once finished wash
the wine off with water from the Nile, because that was their only water source at the time. Then
they would remove the insides by cutting the body on its left side. They would then remove the
intestines, lungs, stomach, and liver then wrap each individually with natron which would dry
each piece up, once finished they would go through the nose with a stick and break the brain
apart so they then could pull it out from the nose. Then they would cover the body and stuff it
with natron, 40 days passed and now it was time to wash the body one last time and rub it with
oils. Last they put the insides they had taken outback in the body and it is now ready to be

Fema And The Federal Emergency Management Agency
On April 1, 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed the executive order that created the Federal
Emergency Management Agency. 1.Year in and out, a disaster can strike at any moment and
put millions of people in danger and wreck billions of dollars worth of property. But, this is
where the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) steps in and up to the plate.
FEMA works as part of a team helping communities reduce their risk, helping emergency officials
prepare for all hazards, and helping people get back on their feet after their lives are disrupted by
a disaster. 2 FEMA s primary focus is to coordinate federal and logistical operations to save and
sustain lives, minimize suffering, and protect property in a timely and effective manner in
communities that become devastated by disasters. 3
Background
For 35 years, FEMA s mission remains: to lead America to prepare for, prevent, respond to and
recover from disasters with a vision of A Nation Prepared. FEMA can trace its origins to the
Congressional Act of 1803. FEMA coordinates the federal government s role in preparing for,
preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters,
whether natural or man made, including acts of terror. 4 President Carter s 1979 executive order
12127 merged many of the separate disaster related responsibilities into the Federal Emergency
Management Agency. 51 From this executive order, FEMA absorbed The Federal Insurance

smartphone we all use these devices every day to make our lives easier. What most of us do not
know is what is inside of these devices, things like RAM, the binary system, the CPU and
different kinds of memory are all included in each of these devices. In this paper I will describe the
functions and relationships of different parts of the computer. The RAM, or random access memory,
is sometimes called the brain of the computer. The RAM is where everything you are working on
at a given point in time is stored. The RAM is the brain of the computer because it remembers
everything you are working on at the present time (conscience) and it can... Show more content on

out Hello World! Now that we have a language for the computer to understand, and we saw how
much code is needed to write a simple sentence, how exactly will the computer process millions
if not billions of these strings in a timely manner? The computer s CPU or central processing unit
does just that. The CPU is a little chip that does a big job. It takes all of the binary code for a
program and shoots it out onto the screen in the language that we can understand. The CPU
takes billions of lines of binary code and grinds it out in seconds. How long does it take you to
pen Microsoft Word, or the internet on your computer? For me it takes maybe a second if not
sooner. The CPU takes the billions of lines of code in each program, reads it all and translates it
all into the programs we see on the screen. That is what the CPU does. While all of these parts of
the computer are fascinating, the really shocking part is how they all seamlessly work together to
make up the computer. When I opened Microsoft Word to write this paper the RAM took the
program off the hard drive and the CPU took the program s binary code and translated it into what

The Social Differences Between Oral And Oral History
Oral accounts are crucial to understanding historical events which may have not been recorded
through text. The whole process in oral history is important to create the bigger image of the story
and provide the meaning. The act of listening is just as complex as interpreting the story, both
aspects give historya better understanding. The uniqueness of oral history can t compare to written
history due to the compassion and emotions that are evoked while talking. There are social
implications of oral history that come in various forms which effect the process. Although it is a
complex process, it enhances historical practices for many reasons.
The comparison between oral and written history has many discrepancies that impact the
understanding of history in a great way. Oral history has the ability to evoke many emotions due
to being able to see the body language of the speaker. Gestures create emphasis on various words
which may have a significant meaning to the speaker. These gestures would not be seen through
text thus it allows readers to experience the story through emotions as well as facts. The intensity
of words also creates emphasis which is only available through speech. Francis Good uses an
analogy to express the difference between text and oral accounts. Good states manuals and
handbooks invariably provide advice on the issues, problems and strategies involved, but practice
and comment show considerable divergence at times (Good, 362) which alludes to the conclusion
that textual accounts can leave out some information. These aspects contribute to how the audience
perceives the information given, importance will be given to items which can t be expressed
through text. Oral history serves a social purpose in today s society. Oral accounts give the public a
better understanding about social, political and economic issues which may not be written about.
Oral history changes the precedent of how history is interpreted. It enhances the historical practices
by emphasizing important aspects and revealing stories which may not have been heard otherwise.
Oral history and interviews are particularly beneficial for minorities, including women and the
illiterate, to express their stories. In Telling

Phil Jackson And Buddhism Essay
Buddhism is a major Asian religion studied and practiced in countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand,
Vietnam and Cambodia. Although Buddhism is a growing religion throughout the world, in
particular, the practice of meditation is spreading in the West. The United States has a center for
Buddhists in Hawaii and New York and also a Buddhist community has been established in
California. (Hewitt, 13 14) But even closer to home for most is the practicing of Zen Buddhismon
the basketball court by formerChicago Bullsand present Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson.
In this essay I will discuss how Jackson has incorporated some of the practices of Zen Buddhism
into his and the players of his teams lives and how it has been effective for the... Show more content

It s often an uphill fight. The ego driven culture of basketball, and society in general, militates
against cultivating this kind of selfless action, even for members of a team whose success as
individuals in tied directly to the group performance. Our society places such a high premium on
individual achievement, it s easy for players to get blinded by their own self importance and lose a
sense of interconnectedness, the essence of teamwork.
In this passage Jackson incorporates some very important fundamental Buddhist ideas. One of the
aspects of the Eightfold Path, or the Middle Way , which Buddha said was the cure of suffering,
Right Thought is the basis of this statement. In the introductive book Buddhism Catherine Hewitt
spends three pages (4 6) discussing the aspects of the Eightfold Path. She says that Right Thought
is when Buddhists, strive to think unselfishly and compassionately. Jackson is saying that in our
Western way of living, the self is everything. We are constantly worried about how things will
effect us (ourselves) instead of as a community, society, or team; where we are going and for others
to get out of our way not thinking that they might have somewhere to be too; and also in reflection
of the team structure, how we are going to make that

Explain the mechanism referred to in the above statement...
Trade between advanced countries that are abundant in capital and skill and NIEs (Newly
Industrialising Economies) with their abundant supply of unskilled labour was raising the wages of
highly skilled workers and lowering the wages of less skilled workers in the skill and capital
abundant countries (Krugman, Obstfeld and Melitz). Explain the mechanism referred to in the
above statement using the Heckscher Ohlin model.
The Heckscher Ohlin model is extremely useful when illustrating how endowments of a particular
resource can influence trade between economies. The model shows us how comparative advantage
is explained somewhat by the relative abundance of certain resources, such as land, labour or
capital.
The Heckscher Ohlin (HO) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assuming the demand schedule is identical in both countries, then without trade, Foreign s own
market equilibrium is at 1 and Home s equilibrium for cars is at 2 . When the two countries trade,
the relative world price converges to a point somewhere in between these two points at 3 .
We can see from the above illustration that trade leads to a convergence of world prices at point 3.
The Foreign economy will therefore export the good that has seen an increase in its relative price.
Now that we have seen how prices change under the assumptions of the HO model, I will now
explain how these changes have an impact on the distribution of income in countries open to
trade. A rise in the prices of cars increases the purchasing power of skilled labour (the abundant
factor) in the foreign country in terms of both goods. At the same time it decreases the purchasing
power of unskilled labour (the scarce factor) in terms of both goods. So by opening up to trade,
the owners of the abundant factor become better off, whilst owners of the scarce factor become
worse off.
Theoretically, opening to trade should increase the consumption possibilities for the whole
economy, allowing everyone to gain a higher utility. So why do some people become worse off,
post trade under the HO model? The underlying issue is that trade only changes relative prices of
factors, which has a direct effect on the relative earnings of those

The Not So Great Gatsby Many things are called great such as food or a football team, but what is
the true meaning of greatness? What are characteristics that one person or thing must have to be
considered great? In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the word great is used to describe the
characters and even things, but when analyzed these great things or people are actually quite the
opposite. Jay Gatsby, whom the story is centered around, is a young, wealthy, and charismatic
young man with a mysterious background. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby

Argument From Design Arguments
In this paper I will explain the Argument from Design. From there I will address what I find to be
the two best objections to the Argument from Design. Then I will explain why I do not find these
arguments persuasive. The Argument from Design is based upon two basic premises. The first
premise is that if something performs a function then it is a product of intelligent design and is
produced by the designer in order to serve this purpose. The second premise is that the material
universealso includes functional complexity that has the same features. The material universe is
full of functions. If something has a function, then it must be complex. If something is complex
then it must have an intelligent designer. The argument quite simply states... Show more content on

Having a heterogeneous structure doesn t make something complex. Mount Blanc, for example,
should not be considered complex. It does have a heterogeneous structure, but it doesn t serve a
particular purpose. If the mountain was rearranged completely it would still be a mountain no
matter what order its parts are in. It could have been arranged by mere chance. Living things or
things that serve a purpose cannot be arranged by mere chance and still perform their function.
However, the results are very different if a living thing is rearranged and its parts are put in a
different order. If a living thing is rearranged, it s not likely that it will be able to live let alone
function the same. The same results of that of a living thing are applied to complex things that
function. If a computer is assembled in random order by chance, the odds are astronomically low
that it will function correctly if it functions at all. This same principal is applied to the natural and
material world. If it was assembled by mere chance and if the parts were arranged in any different
order the odds of it actually functioning correctly are astronomically low. Therefore, everything
must have been designed by an intelligent designer to have the unique physics that allow them to
function properly, unique parts that allow

Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places
Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and
think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary
Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in
normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts
of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it
means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an
escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic
ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add
a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man
who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions
are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with .
The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if
a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. In the beginning of the poem, Dunn
shows how much this student takes his

Analysis Of Marcus Borg s The Bible
Recently I have been overwhelmed by the various conflicting views on the interpretation the
bible. Many people say that to be a Christian you must follow and believe the bible verbatim.
However, I realize that it is nearly impossible to do that because of the context in which it was
written. Marcus Borg s has successfully provided a logical way to read the bible, with still being
able to respect and incorporate older Christian traditions, but also focusing and taking into
consideration the modernized world and reality in which we read the bible today. Hence the
essential subtitle, Taking The Bible Seriously But not Literally. I salute Borg s for taking on the
challenge of addressing a burning issue that separates two distinct group of... Show more content on

Therefore, the way we see affects the way we read. As we enter the twenty first century, we need
a new set of lenses through which to read the Bible. The older set, ground and polished by
modernity, no longer works for millions of people. These lenses need to be replaced. The older
way of seeing and reading the Bible, has made the Bible incredible and irrelevant for vast
numbers of people... The need for new lenses thus exists within the church itself. I fully agree
with this assertion formed by Borg. The new and constantly evolving ways of science,
technology, and analytical thinking, have led many people to reject the teachings of Bible. To
look at the Bible through the eyes of a non Christian, it would be easy to make rational
altercations against its accuracy. Borg included the counterargument that is made by many
conservative evangelical Christians, which is, God said it, I believe it, and that settles it. As if
this blunt answer to the textual variants, could possibly hold any value to a non believer. Similar
to Borg, I believe that it is necessary to address the context and differences of the time period that
the Bible was written in, and rather than completely denying the scientifically advanced ways of
todays society, incorporate it as a prompt to a better understanding of the scripture. Another
analogy used by Borg in the first section of his book; came from the traditions of Buddhism, where
the teachings of Buddha were seen as a finger pointing to

Cult Of Personality Poster Analysis Essay
How do the Cult of Personality posters demonstrate elements of Confucianism? Using the Cult of
Personality posters as propaganda, Mao depicted himself as a god like figure, but still made
efforts to sustain the crucial ruler subject relationship of Confucianism (Chinese Posters). Most of
the images include Mao smiling, along with some of his subjects smiling or celebrating. This
associates the socialist dictator with happiness in an attempt to form a deep emotional connection

dictator wants to remain in power, they will attempt to dissolve the opposing party, or those who

the sole reason that they spoke against their leader. Mao took away from them what is thought to

The first issue is whether Tom and Bob can appoint Carl as a replacement for Tom. In order to

given their current circumstances. The appointment of trustees will be made where a new trust is
created either inter vivos or by will; and during the continuance for an existing trustwhereby one

an audience sees someone they follow do something, they will likely accept it and try the same
things; people in the media pave the way for everyone else and can start a movement. Putting
cultures in separate groups and not allowing for certain styles to be used by others is the root of
discrimination of cultures. The main influencers in pop culture have been knocking down these
separations and preaching the idea of mixing cultural styles into every aspect of life. Pop culture
has some of the most influence on society and the example that it sets for people to follow is needed

Magazines want to be read and enjoyed by the most customers possible, and in order to do so
they try and attract a vast variety of people. This means that they must include different hairstyle
and clothing choices for all races, cultures, and ethnicities. By expanding the types of wear in
these magazines, people are able to identify and connect with the articles and overall message of
the magazine. Often times, the goal is to make women feel empowered and part of a larger
whole. Increasing the amount of cultures that these magazines and their articles represent means
that more women are able to feel a part of something and can knock down the walls of difference
between groups of people. It is crucial for magazines to display various culturized styles in order
for these cultures to feel included and is a great way to diminish the separation and therefore the
discrimination of

Sherman s Tactics
On June 27, 1864 the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain was fought. The Union Army was currently
carrying out Sherman s March. Richard T Sherman was the commander of the Union Army and was
going up against the Confederate Army of Tennessee, commanded by Joseph E. Johnston. Sherman
was beating Johnston again and again with flanking maneuvers pushing the Confederates back all
the way to Kennesaw Mountain. Sherman decided to change his tactics and ordered a frontal
assault rather than another flanking maneuver. John Logan and his men assaulted Pigeon Hill while
George Thomas led his men on another aggressive attack on Cheatham Hill. Both failed miserably
with costly casualties. The Union did however manage to gain position on the Confederate s left

Fashion Design

Dripping Swag My research paper is over the career of Fashion Design. I chose this topic, because I
have always had a desire to one day have my own clothing line and see other people support me
by wearing my creations. Also because I like to mix different articles of clothingand create my own
unique style to go out and express to the world. This paper will highlight the details about a fashion
designer, like what type of education you need, skills required, the work environment, and their
salaries. Fashion Design is a career where people express and use their creative ideas to create the
best clothing on the market. For many of years the practice of changing the style ... Show more

Designers put so much work into their clothing. But most people don t even recognize how much
detail or even what kind of material the designer uses to create the article. Often time s people
just buy a certain piece of clothing because it s what everybody else is wearing and it s the new
fad, they really don t respect the time and effort the designer has put into the design, even more so
they buy them just for the label associated with the article of the clothing. All these things you have
to understand and try to master to become successful.
Fashion Designing is a very cutthroat and limited job, so there isn t much room for new
designers to get hired. One article states that, The fashion design world is highly competitive, so
it s somewhat difficult, though certainly not impossible, to break into the field. In general, there
are more aspiring fashion designers than there are available jobs in the field . (Vogt, Peter.
Fashion Designer. ). Employment rates are not very high, so you have to be on top of your game.
According to (Vogt. Peter fashion Design ) about 17,000 people worked as Fashion Designers in
the United States in 2004, and now today approximately 22,700 fashion designers are employed in
the United States. ( Fashion Designers ). So there is not much change in the employment rate over
the years.

How To Pull An All Nighter Compare And Contrast
A piece of writing has little meaning if the overall topic is not compared to another work. In fact,
any object in the world has this same philosophy. A golf ball, for example, has individual detail to
it, but when compared to a basketball, it has an entirely new meaning and description. This concept
is also appropriate when reading and analyzing literature. Whether this literature is analogous or
extremely disparate to another, the reader s perspective shifts. After reading How to Pull an All
Nighter, by Joshua Piven, David Borgenicht, and Jennifer Worwick, and The Economist s Higher
Education: Not What It Used to Be, I quickly noticed an interesting juxtaposition between the two.
The first is a basic how tothat illustrates staying awake for the entire night. Whereas the second
informs the reader about pressing issues concerning fiscal matters of college. Many books and
articles such as these possess elements that help compose a unique piece of writing, including the
intended audience, layout, and the ultimate purpose. Comparing and contrasting these two readings,
some characteristics appear to be shared while others create a definite divergence between the two.
There are often numerous fundamental components of writing that shapes the general frame of the
work. How to Pull an All Nighter exemplifies these essential qualities. To begin with, the article was
published in 2004 and had three writers collectively contribute to the text. This nonfiction

Abstract
This paper gives a summary of each Microsoft Office application: Word, Excel, Access, and
PowerPoint. For each application, common user errors will be identified, as well as step by step
strategies to diagnose and troubleshoot the problems for each application. The step by step
instructions are written for a beginner and intermediate user level. A PowerPoint presentation is
included that resembles an actual presentation that could be used for training application support
staff.
Common MS Office Errors

Microsoft Word is a word processing software package that allows the user to create professional
looking documents such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strategies to diagnose and troubleshoot such problems are usually conducted by having the
customer recall everything that he or she did before and after the problem occurred. This can help
narrow down what exactly the problem is. Asking questions about what exactly the customer is
trying to accomplish at the time can also help narrow down the problem. After discovering the
problem, the support person is able to research the solution and ask the customer to follow through
step by step as he or she instructs them how to complete the procedure to solve the problem. For
beginner and intermediate users, it is a good suggestion for the support person to give details and
lengthier explanations with each step so it is easier for the customer to understand and follow along
without any further problems. After fixing the problem, the support person should assist the
customer by teaching him or her how to complete the procedure correctly to avoid any further
errors, again by being more specific with the instructions for beginner and intermediate users. When
the problem is solved and fixed and the user is knowledgeable on how to complete the procedure
the next time without any help, the support person should assume the user does not know about the
help menu included in the program and its capabilities to assist them with errors.

Statement of Purpose
Introduction
The remarkable success of Kalpana Chawla is an inspiration to all Indian women, with special
meaning to those involved in the study of math and science. Kalpana s untimely passing as part of
the Challenger crew is a paradox for the world to understand, yet for her, a woman of remarkable
intellect and clarity of vision, she passed doing what she loved: exploring, pushing the boundaries
of space and furthering scientific discoveries. She is an inspiration and force in my life, and serves
to show that with enough intensity and focused effort, remarkable accomplishments can be attained
quickly throughout ones life.
Growth In Engineering Years
My passion for engineering and electronics began prior to beginning my undergraduate major in
Electronics and Telecommunication. During those years prior to beginning my undergraduate
major, I was fascinated with how mechanical, electro mechanical and electronic devices worked.
Those years were invaluable from a learning standpoint, as I was able to develop analytical and
engineering skills I would use throughout my academic career.
During this time period I initiated many projects, the majority of which included mechanical
inventions, electromechanical devices and explorations of electronics.
During this time I also began to develop an interest in computer networking and the study of the
TCP/IP command set. Specifically I became fascinated with how the Blackberry could
simultaneously send and

Julius Caesar Omens Essay
By: Phillip Gigliotti Omens Are Not To Be Ignored A sign of the future of good or evil is
considered to be an omen. Plenty of omens are displayed throughout the Tragedy of Julius Caesar,
written by Shakespeare. If these omens are ignored negativity is often the only outcome for the
character as demonstrated in the play. Some of these omens include Caesar ignoring Calpurnia s
unpleasant dream and his servant s simple warning. Cassius disagrees with Casca s statement of
the god s anger toward Caesar s death and he allows Antony to live. Brutus disapproves of Cassius s
consent to prevent Antony from speaking at Caesars funeral and Brutus agrees to the ghost s
demands. Caesar, Cassius, and Brutus ignore important omens that are presented to... Show more

Cassius explains, Marc Antony, so well beloved of Caesar, should outlive Caesar... as to annoy
us all : which to prevent, let Antony and Caesar fall together. (Shakespeare, 2.1,154 161) Cassius
states that he wants Caesar dead, but never follows through with his plans. If Cassius were to
only ignore Brutus s opinion about Antony living he would not have to realize the truth during
Antony s speech about what the conspirators did to Caesar and how it was wrong. Since Cassius
ignores his own omen about taking out Antony he later regret s it because it is what leads
Cassius to his suicide. Cassius disregards Casca s warning of the God s disappointment during
the storm and fails to assassinate Antony along with Caesar. Clearly this proves that Cassius
overlooks omens which significantly affects his life as he was soon led to suicide. Alternatively,
Marcus Brutus does not acknowledge various omens which later become reasons for his demise
near the time of his death. Brutus disagrees with Cassius s consent to prevent Antony from
speaking at Caesar s funeral and Brutus agrees to go where the ghost requests. Brutus engages in a
quick conversation with Cassius where he allows Antony to speak at Caesar s funeral. Cassius
disapproves of Brutus decision because he believes it may cause the people of Rome to realize that
the conspirators were in fact murders. Cassius states, You know not what you do: do not consent

  • 3. Bike Science Project The scientific question of the project was, Does the size of a tire affect the bike s speed? The hypothesis was , If the smaller tires were used, then the bike would go faster. The important procedures were: Make sure all equipment is ready. Test the standard wheel of 1 rotation or pedal a second to ride to the finish line. Test smaller and bigger wheels. Record data and have at least 3 trials. Record the data on a piece of paper and compare results to your hypothesis. The Independent variable is the size of the wheel on the bike. The Dependent variable is the standard wheel or tire on the bike. The control group was the bike s speed and the standard wheel or tire. The Experimental group is the other tires or wheels being tested on the bike. The control variables were the rate of pedaling , the same bike model was used, and the same distance for... Tools like a wrench was used to help fix the bikes tires and replace the smaller, bigger, or standard tires. The science experiment was very successful and went well. Other considerations are to use more different tires to have a variety of information to make sure there were no extraneous variables in the experiment that caused the results to have the outcome it had. More trials could have been used to also help make a more of an accurate data table to also make sure there were no extraneous variables. Other things that could have been done was to have made sure the surface was level at all times. It could have an effect on the speed of the bike. • 4. How Ceramic Cutting Tools Have Been Around For Over 100 Years David Golding Term Paper Mech 4320 Dr. Lewis Advanced Cutting Materials Ceramic cutting tools have been around for over 100 years. The most common materials used prior to this were iron and steel. These metals are effective in cutting but have limitations that ceramics do not. There are many different types of materials used in the production of ceramic based cutting tools. The production of ceramics have seen various advancements since its birth, and continues to be more dependable as new technologies are applied to lower cost and boost efficiency in development. Advanced cutting ceramics is a $30 million (US) industry per the Department of Energy and has seen increased growth in the last 10 years. Alumina (гЂ–AlгЂ—_2 O_3) and Silicon Nitride (гЂ–SiгЂ—_3 N_4) are most commonly found in a ceramic cutting material. Their attributes differ for their own specific purpose, but they all have the same core characteristics. They all demonstrate elevated hardness, strength, and thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity is one of the main advantages in using ceramics over other materials. Ceramics can withstand temperatures over 4000℉ in its operation, while Carbide can only reach 1600℉. Cutting materials at this heat allows for the material being cut to be softened, allowing for a smoother, easier pass. These high temperatures are unattainable for carbide tools because they exceed its melting point. Ideal machining temperatures (e.g., 2200В°F for nickel alloys) can be accommodated by ... • 5. Games Being The Blame Of Violence A third example of games being the blame of violence was the case of Adam Lanza. On 14 December 2012, he committed the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, after which the first reports from media misidentified the shooter as his brother, Ryan Lanza. On Facebook Ryan had liked the Mass Effect page which lead to an internet frenzy immediately launched at the page, dubbing the developes as child killers. After the error had been discovered that it was really Adam to blame, news stories jumped to link the games Starcraft and Dance Dance Revolution. Later a UK tabloid claimed that Adam Lanza had an obsession with Call of Duty, which also got widespread coverage online. This in turn encouraged a small town near Sandy Hook set up an event to collect and burn the towns video games in exchange for a gift certificate. A CBS report alleged that anonymous law enforcement sources suggested a link to games, which was later dismissed by the Connecticut police, quoted that it was all speculation. The game however did arouse a wave of effort against violent games. The twist here is that Adam s most favourite games were non violent (Such as Dance Dance Revolution (Which he played for hours regularly) and Super Mario Brothers ). In court his mother was quoted as saying he played zoned out and like a zombie. The issue that video games may be to blame for creating violence problems exists because of some examples/events that the people involved had played games before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With Bonnie Jo Campbell s writing in her collection American Salvage I can appreciate a story without the full beginning, middle, and end. The company completely altered the idea of a traditional supermarket and turned it into a whole new experience for consumers. Through Trader Joe s strategic planning, they ve paved a way for consumers to have high quality products while paying low prices. Trader Joe s provides fewer products that are health conscious, unique and privately labeled. Trader Joe s has utilized this, secrecy, employee job satisfaction, culture and starting trends to its advantage. Within its industry companies are divided into different strategic groups. Aldi, similar Trader Joe s strategic planning, is apart of the cultured discount neighborhood market. This firm continues the low stock, less waste, small store, and low price method. A Walmart express used a hybrid strategy that made it a cross between a grocery, pharmacy, and convenience store. Tesco is the third that falls with small neighborhood markets strategy and focused on organic products, similar to Trader Joe s. As the company grows and expands, there is caution in change of Trader Joe s processes. With growth, there comes new management and employees which can alter the way a specific store is ran and there is worry of change in the stores normal procedures. We all have our beliefs about the topic of drugs in our country and how it impacts us as a whole. United Statescitizens believe that drugs are one of the major problems that this country is dealing with today. We have been fighting a war on drugs that never seems to end. If our country were to legalize drugs, there would be a decrease in crime rate, which would be terrific. American s in today s world believe that the majority of people who want illegal drugs would steal in order to obtain their drugs. Edmund Harrett, Deputy Chief and Executive Officer, of the Narcotics Division, New York City Police Department, New York, writes, Many legalization supporters believe that property crime, particularly burglary, larceny from persons (purse snatchers, chain snatchers, and pickpockets), auto theft, theft from autos, and shoplifting would decrease by 40 50 percent if drugs were made legal. Similarly, many believe that the terms drug related murder and drive by shooting would become outdated once drugs were legalized. In their view, turf wars would be eliminated because there would no longer be a need to fight for one s turf (policechiefmagazine.com). This quote reveals that there is a serious drug problem in this country, and with legalization we would reduce crime, which is always a positive. By legalizing low level drugs, we would have a lower crime rate for petty crimes, simply because those who used to steal to fund their habit, would have no reason to anymore. It would be terrific for our government if we had fewer petty criminals plugging up our court systems. Allowing them to focus more time on handling higher risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These strategies can be classified as Make to Stock (MTS), Make to Order (MTO), Assemble to Order (ATO) and Engineer to Order (ETO) [42, 43]. These strategies differ with respect to where stock is held in the system and where the production system is decoupled from customer order [44]. The adoption of these strategies depends on the customer s willingness to wait as discussed by Mather in his P/D ratio, where he compares the production system s response time (P) to the customers willingness to wait (D) [45]. Company s decision to adopt any of these approaches is of great strategic importance [46] as it strongly affects the way a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first type, manual assembly, is the most reconfigurable assembly system since humans are very convertible and can easily adapt to new tasks when the line requires convertibility or scalability. If the system is scaled down, there are fewer people on the line and each person has to perform more tasks [22]. An ATO system with manual assembly is said to be performing well if it provides customers with the required variety, while still achieving costs efficiency and responsiveness. However, as product variety becomes quite high in manual mixed model assembly systems, assembly can become very complex. The system performance is negatively affected by the complexity that is induced by variety. This complexity may cause human errors and in turn impacts system performance [52]. According to Hu Et al. • 17. Analysis Of Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows ( 1959 )... The French New Wave, or Nouvelle Vague, is among the most revolutionary film eras in the history of cinema. Spurred as a result of major shifts in economic, social and technological norms within post WW11 France, the New Wave conceived a renewed mode of expression across various creative industries. Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows(1959) and Jean Luc Godard s Breathless (1960) are two films, which despite major disparities, would go on to exemplify integral characteristics of the movement in the following years. Perhaps, the best way to truly appreciate the fervor of New Wave cinema is to examine the context of its inception. Both the stylistic and thematic qualities of French New Waveworks directly reflect the implicit values, virtues and vices possessed by the emerging youth culture of the late 1950s, which consequently posed a fundamental challenge to the institutions, ideas and attitudes of the past. To fully comprehend why and how this cinematic motion took place, it is valuable here to establish the wider social climate of France at the time, and the active forces which heavily shaped New Wave cinema. Between the years of 1945 and 1975, France would undergo thirty glorious years of economic growth, urbanization, and a considerable baby boom, all of which came to expand and radically alter the parameters of French culture (Haine 33). Beneath the surface affluence however, France was in a state of deep self evaluation and consciousness. Following WW11, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Fema And The Federal Emergency Management Agency On April 1, 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed the executive order that created the Federal Emergency Management Agency. 1.Year in and out, a disaster can strike at any moment and put millions of people in danger and wreck billions of dollars worth of property. But, this is where the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) steps in and up to the plate. FEMA works as part of a team helping communities reduce their risk, helping emergency officials prepare for all hazards, and helping people get back on their feet after their lives are disrupted by a disaster. 2 FEMA s primary focus is to coordinate federal and logistical operations to save and sustain lives, minimize suffering, and protect property in a timely and effective manner in communities that become devastated by disasters. 3 Background For 35 years, FEMA s mission remains: to lead America to prepare for, prevent, respond to and recover from disasters with a vision of A Nation Prepared. FEMA can trace its origins to the Congressional Act of 1803. FEMA coordinates the federal government s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man made, including acts of terror. 4 President Carter s 1979 executive order 12127 merged many of the separate disaster related responsibilities into the Federal Emergency Management Agency. 51 From this executive order, FEMA absorbed The Federal Insurance Administration, The ... In 2014 almost everyone has some kind of computer, whether it is a desktop, a laptop, a tablet or smartphone we all use these devices every day to make our lives easier. What most of us do not know is what is inside of these devices, things like RAM, the binary system, the CPU and different kinds of memory are all included in each of these devices. In this paper I will describe the functions and relationships of different parts of the computer. The RAM, or random access memory, is sometimes called the brain of the computer. The RAM is where everything you are working on at a given point in time is stored. The RAM is the brain of the computer because it remembers everything you are working on at the present time (conscience) and it can... Each section resembles one character, the code above writes out Hello World! Now that we have a language for the computer to understand, and we saw how much code is needed to write a simple sentence, how exactly will the computer process millions if not billions of these strings in a timely manner? The computer s CPU or central processing unit does just that. The CPU is a little chip that does a big job. It takes all of the binary code for a program and shoots it out onto the screen in the language that we can understand. The CPU takes billions of lines of binary code and grinds it out in seconds. How long does it take you to pen Microsoft Word, or the internet on your computer? For me it takes maybe a second if not sooner. The CPU takes the billions of lines of code in each program, reads it all and translates it all into the programs we see on the screen. That is what the CPU does. While all of these parts of the computer are fascinating, the really shocking part is how they all seamlessly work together to make up the computer. When I opened Microsoft Word to write this paper the RAM took the program off the hard drive and the CPU took the program s binary code and translated it into what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Social Differences Between Oral And Oral History Oral accounts are crucial to understanding historical events which may have not been recorded through text. The whole process in oral history is important to create the bigger image of the story and provide the meaning. The act of listening is just as complex as interpreting the story, both aspects give historya better understanding. The uniqueness of oral history can t compare to written history due to the compassion and emotions that are evoked while talking. There are social implications of oral history that come in various forms which effect the process. Although it is a complex process, it enhances historical practices for many reasons. The comparison between oral and written history has many discrepancies that impact the understanding of history in a great way. Oral history has the ability to evoke many emotions due to being able to see the body language of the speaker. Gestures create emphasis on various words which may have a significant meaning to the speaker. These gestures would not be seen through text thus it allows readers to experience the story through emotions as well as facts. The intensity of words also creates emphasis which is only available through speech. Francis Good uses an analogy to express the difference between text and oral accounts. Good states manuals and handbooks invariably provide advice on the issues, problems and strategies involved, but practice and comment show considerable divergence at times (Good, 362) which alludes to the conclusion that textual accounts can leave out some information. These aspects contribute to how the audience perceives the information given, importance will be given to items which can t be expressed through text. Oral history serves a social purpose in today s society. Oral accounts give the public a better understanding about social, political and economic issues which may not be written about. Oral history changes the precedent of how history is interpreted. It enhances the historical practices by emphasizing important aspects and revealing stories which may not have been heard otherwise. Oral history and interviews are particularly beneficial for minorities, including women and the illiterate, to express their stories. In Telling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ego driven culture of basketball, and society in general, militates against cultivating this kind of selfless action, even for members of a team whose success as individuals in tied directly to the group performance. Our society places such a high premium on individual achievement, it s easy for players to get blinded by their own self importance and lose a sense of interconnectedness, the essence of teamwork. In this passage Jackson incorporates some very important fundamental Buddhist ideas. One of the aspects of the Eightfold Path, or the Middle Way , which Buddha said was the cure of suffering, Right Thought is the basis of this statement. In the introductive book Buddhism Catherine Hewitt spends three pages (4 6) discussing the aspects of the Eightfold Path. She says that Right Thought is when Buddhists, strive to think unselfishly and compassionately. Jackson is saying that in our Western way of living, the self is everything. We are constantly worried about how things will effect us (ourselves) instead of as a community, society, or team; where we are going and for others to get out of our way not thinking that they might have somewhere to be too; and also in reflection of the team structure, how we are going to make that ... Trade between advanced countries that are abundant in capital and skill and NIEs (Newly Industrialising Economies) with their abundant supply of unskilled labour was raising the wages of highly skilled workers and lowering the wages of less skilled workers in the skill and capital abundant countries (Krugman, Obstfeld and Melitz). Explain the mechanism referred to in the above statement using the Heckscher Ohlin model. The Heckscher Ohlin model is extremely useful when illustrating how endowments of a particular resource can influence trade between economies. The model shows us how comparative advantage is explained somewhat by the relative abundance of certain resources, such as land, labour or capital. The Heckscher Ohlin (HO) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming the demand schedule is identical in both countries, then without trade, Foreign s own market equilibrium is at 1 and Home s equilibrium for cars is at 2 . When the two countries trade, the relative world price converges to a point somewhere in between these two points at 3 . We can see from the above illustration that trade leads to a convergence of world prices at point 3. The Foreign economy will therefore export the good that has seen an increase in its relative price. Now that we have seen how prices change under the assumptions of the HO model, I will now explain how these changes have an impact on the distribution of income in countries open to trade. A rise in the prices of cars increases the purchasing power of skilled labour (the abundant factor) in the foreign country in terms of both goods. At the same time it decreases the purchasing power of unskilled labour (the scarce factor) in terms of both goods. So by opening up to trade, the owners of the abundant factor become better off, whilst owners of the scarce factor become worse off. Theoretically, opening to trade should increase the consumption possibilities for the whole economy, allowing everyone to gain a higher utility. So why do some people become worse off, post trade under the HO model? The underlying issue is that trade only changes relative prices of factors, which has a direct effect on the relative earnings of those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then I will explain why I do not find these arguments persuasive. The Argument from Design is based upon two basic premises. The first premise is that if something performs a function then it is a product of intelligent design and is produced by the designer in order to serve this purpose. The second premise is that the material universealso includes functional complexity that has the same features. The material universe is full of functions. Having a heterogeneous structure doesn t make something complex. Mount Blanc, for example, should not be considered complex. It does have a heterogeneous structure, but it doesn t serve a particular purpose. If the mountain was rearranged completely it would still be a mountain no matter what order its parts are in. It could have been arranged by mere chance. Living things or things that serve a purpose cannot be arranged by mere chance and still perform their function. However, the results are very different if a living thing is rearranged and its parts are put in a different order. If a living thing is rearranged, it s not likely that it will be able to live let alone function the same. The same results of that of a living thing are applied to complex things that function. If a computer is assembled in random order by chance, the odds are astronomically low that it will function correctly if it functions at all. This same principal is applied to the natural and material world. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with . The older way of seeing and reading the Bible, has made the Bible incredible and irrelevant for vast numbers of people... The need for new lenses thus exists within the church itself. I fully agree with this assertion formed by Borg. The new and constantly evolving ways of science, technology, and analytical thinking, have led many people to reject the teachings of Bible. To look at the Bible through the eyes of a non Christian, it would be easy to make rational altercations against its accuracy. Borg included the counterargument that is made by many conservative evangelical Christians, which is, God said it, I believe it, and that settles it. The appointment of trustees will be made where a new trust is created either inter vivos or by will; and during the continuance for an existing trustwhereby one trusteemay seek to retire. On the death of a trustee, the remnants are given to the survivors to carry on the trust. Section 18(1) of the Trustee Act 1925 (UK) provides that where a power or trust is given to or imposed on two or more trustees jointly, the same may be exercised or performed by the survivors or survivor of them for the time being. Further, s. 48 (1) of the Trinidad and Tobago Trustee Act provides that the appointment of a new trustee are outside of the realms of a court and the execution is done by persons expressed in the trust instrument , or by the surviving trustees or by the survivor s personal representative. Thus, Tom and Bob may have the power under the common law or Trinidadian statute to appoint Carl. However, there may also be the sub issue of whether Tom has the competence to make the appointment of a new trustee. Section 10 (1) of the Trustee Act states that where a trustee, either original or substituted, and whether appointed by a Court or otherwise, is dead, or remains out of this Island for more than twelve months, or ... • 39. Cultural Appropriation In Pop Culture You see, the discussion surrounding appropriation takes on so many more layers than most think piece authors care to engage with layers that desperately need to be brought to the discussion (Jaikaran, Elizabeth). Movements that advocate the equality between races, religions, and cultures are extremely prominent in our modern day society (Cohen, Amanda). Cultural appropriation in pop cultureallows for cultures to be spread and ultimately accepted by a wide variety of people. Once an audience sees someone they follow do something, they will likely accept it and try the same things; people in the media pave the way for everyone else and can start a movement. Putting cultures in separate groups and not allowing for certain styles to be used by others is the root of discrimination of cultures. The main influencers in pop culture have been knocking down these separations and preaching the idea of mixing cultural styles into every aspect of life. Magazines want to be read and enjoyed by the most customers possible, and in order to do so they try and attract a vast variety of people. This means that they must include different hairstyle and clothing choices for all races, cultures, and ethnicities. By expanding the types of wear in these magazines, people are able to identify and connect with the articles and overall message of the magazine. Often times, the goal is to make women feel empowered and part of a larger whole. Increasing the amount of cultures that these magazines and their articles represent means that more women are able to feel a part of something and can knock down the walls of difference between groups of people. It is crucial for magazines to display various culturized styles in order for these cultures to feel included and is a great way to diminish the separation and therefore the discrimination of ... Richard T Sherman was the commander of the Union Army and was going up against the Confederate Army of Tennessee, commanded by Joseph E. Johnston. Sherman was beating Johnston again and again with flanking maneuvers pushing the Confederates back all the way to Kennesaw Mountain. Sherman decided to change his tactics and ordered a frontal assault rather than another flanking maneuver. John Logan and his men assaulted Pigeon Hill while George Thomas led his men on another aggressive attack on Cheatham Hill. Both failed miserably with costly casualties. Often time s people just buy a certain piece of clothing because it s what everybody else is wearing and it s the new fad, they really don t respect the time and effort the designer has put into the design, even more so they buy them just for the label associated with the article of the clothing. • 42. How To Pull An All Nighter Compare And Contrast A piece of writing has little meaning if the overall topic is not compared to another work. In fact, any object in the world has this same philosophy. A golf ball, for example, has individual detail to it, but when compared to a basketball, it has an entirely new meaning and description. This concept is also appropriate when reading and analyzing literature. Whether this literature is analogous or extremely disparate to another, the reader s perspective shifts. After reading How to Pull an All Nighter, by Joshua Piven, David Borgenicht, and Jennifer Worwick, and The Economist s Higher Education: Not What It Used to Be, I quickly noticed an interesting juxtaposition between the two. The first is a basic how tothat illustrates staying awake for the entire night. Whereas the second informs the reader about pressing issues concerning fiscal matters of college. Many books and articles such as these possess elements that help compose a unique piece of writing, including the intended audience, layout, and the ultimate purpose. Comparing and contrasting these two readings, some characteristics appear to be shared while others create a definite divergence between the two. There are often numerous fundamental components of writing that shapes the general frame of the work. How to Pull an All Nighter exemplifies these essential qualities. To begin with, the article was published in 2004 and had three writers collectively contribute to the text. This nonfiction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strategies to diagnose and troubleshoot such problems are usually conducted by having the customer recall everything that he or she did before and after the problem occurred. This can help narrow down what exactly the problem is. Asking questions about what exactly the customer is trying to accomplish at the time can also help narrow down the problem. After discovering the problem, the support person is able to research the solution and ask the customer to follow through step by step as he or she instructs them how to complete the procedure to solve the problem. For beginner and intermediate users, it is a good suggestion for the support person to give details and lengthier explanations with each step so it is easier for the customer to understand and follow along without any further problems. After fixing the problem, the support person should assist the customer by teaching him or her how to complete the procedure correctly to avoid any further errors, again by being more specific with the instructions for beginner and intermediate users. When the problem is solved and fixed and the user is knowledgeable on how to complete the procedure the next time without any help, the support person should assume the user does not know about the help menu included in the program and its capabilities to assist them with errors. • 45. Julius Caesar Omens Essay By: Phillip Gigliotti Omens Are Not To Be Ignored A sign of the future of good or evil is considered to be an omen. Plenty of omens are displayed throughout the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, written by Shakespeare. If these omens are ignored negativity is often the only outcome for the character as demonstrated in the play. Some of these omens include Caesar ignoring Calpurnia s unpleasant dream and his servant s simple warning. Cassius disagrees with Casca s statement of the god s anger toward Caesar s death and he allows Antony to live. Brutus disapproves of Cassius s consent to prevent Antony from speaking at Caesars funeral and Brutus agrees to the ghost s demands. Cassius explains, Marc Antony, so well beloved of Caesar, should outlive Caesar... as to annoy us all : which to prevent, let Antony and Caesar fall together. (Shakespeare, 2.1,154 161) Cassius states that he wants Caesar dead, but never follows through with his plans. If Cassius were to only ignore Brutus s opinion about Antony living he would not have to realize the truth during Antony s speech about what the conspirators did to Caesar and how it was wrong. Since Cassius ignores his own omen about taking out Antony he later regret s it because it is what leads Cassius to his suicide. Cassius disregards Casca s warning of the God s disappointment during the storm and fails to assassinate Antony along with Caesar. Clearly this proves that Cassius overlooks omens which significantly affects his life as he was soon led to suicide. Alternatively, Marcus Brutus does not acknowledge various omens which later become reasons for his demise near the time of his death. Brutus disagrees with Cassius s consent to prevent Antony from speaking at Caesar s funeral and Brutus agrees to go where the ghost requests. Brutus engages in a quick conversation with Cassius where he allows Antony to speak at Caesar s funeral. Cassius disapproves of Brutus decision because he believes it may cause the people of Rome to realize that the conspirators were in fact murders.
