Writing a comparison essay requires careful consideration in several areas. First, the writer must select two topics that have enough similarities and differences to analyze. Then, they must structure the essay to highlight both the similarities and differences between topics. The writer also needs to thoroughly research both subjects to find relevant evidence to support their comparisons. Maintaining a clear flow between comparing points is also important. Finally, the writer should craft an effective thesis statement that encapsulates the purpose of the comparison. Overall, writing this type of essay demands strategic planning in topic selection, research, organization, and communication of ideas.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

2. The Hollow Men Stylistics
1.Introduction This paper deals with a stylistic analysis of Eliot s poem The Hollow Men . What
are the stylistic featuresexploited by Eliot to make his poem more expressive is the main problem
that this study tries to investigate. It aims to explore ways in which language use has been
integrated in the selected poems. It is also aimed at analyzing some of the distinctive features that
give the selected poem their identity. To fulfill the aim of the study, it hypothesizes that Eliot
exploits certain linguistic deviations as an essential way to make his poem more expressive. So as

poem for the sake of analysis. Some stylistic features are investigated... Show more content on

We normally study style because we want to explain something, and in general, literary stylistics
has the goal of explaining the relation between language and artistic function (Leech and Short,
1981: 13).Short and Candlin (1989: 183) view stylistics as a linguistic approach to the study of
the literary texts. It thus embodies one essential part of the general course; that of combining
language and literary study. Stylistics, the study of the devices in languages such as rhetorical
figures and syntactical patterns that are considered to produce expressive or literary style.
Haynes (1989: 3) refers to style as the manner of expression which is different in various contexts.
It is defined depending on one s field of study.Style as deviation from the norm, Language is a
behavior governed by rules and norms. When something is done in a quite different way from how
it is usually done, then that is said to be a deviation from the norm. This is achieved by
reconstruction from the structural resource of language to extend the frontiers of current

Riding The Pine: Tim Bowling s personal reflection of professional hockey in Na Na Na Na, Hey
Hey Hey Goodbye
In Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye, Tim Bowling, an author, poet, and a fishing boat
deckhand (Stewart et al 237), articulates how professional hockey has evolved over his lifetime.
He laments how a game he was enamoured with no longer captures his complete attention and is
not as relevant in his life as it once was. However, Bowling admits he still has a sheepish
curiosity for the latest news and highlights (238), is still mildly attracted (239) to the game for its
grace, beauty, and skill (239), and yearns for a Stanley Cup Final with two Canadian teams; most
importantly a final with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like many Canadians, Bowling can recite simple statistics about the game; six of seven Sutter
brothers played in the NHL (239) or Bobbi Clarke s battle with diabetes are a couple of
examples. It is easy to determine, from his narrative and expressions, Bowling is a fan of
hockey and has been for his entire life. Like many other fans, he realizes the game has changed
and in his opinion, not for the better. Along with his narrative, Bowling uses contrast to support
his opinion in such a way that balances the old traditions with the new nuances of the game. For
example, Bowling draws on some parallels of one of the newest superstars in the league, Sidney
Crosby, to unequivocally the greatest player of the game Wayne Gretzky: Sidney Crosby is
expected to challenge the scoring statistics of Gretzky one day (239). Bowling continues to use
contrast comparing the years it takes to master skating with the simple fundamentals of running,
jumping, and catching (239); basic skills used in baseball, basketball and football. His view is that
hockey players are the most skilled athletes in the world and other athletes pale in comparison.
Furthermore, he adds to this contrast by stating if you can t skate, you can t even take to the
playing surface. (239); this description compliments the demands, skill, grace and beauty of the
game of

Time was considered short in the 1920 s and everyone excessively latched on to the chance of

the oppressiveness of the Victorian Era. Love was perceived in different perspectives, Gatsby s
embodied the materialistic desire for love Browning, however, created ideal love herself. Gatsby
misunderstands the values and unlike Browning who created idealised love for herself, In

its architecture to its massive art collection, The Met has a little bit of everything and one is sure to
find something that captures his or her interest. Considering that The Met is the United States
largest art museum, it is easy to get lost within its many corridors and wings. My visit to The Met
took place during the last week of July. Despite the almost unbearable heat and humidity that hung
in the air, visiting museums under these climate conditions is a welcome respite from a suffocating,
yet bright summer afternoon. One of the first things that I noticed about The Met was its exterior
architecture. Like many historical buildings and museums, The Met s architecture is highly
influenced by European architecture; in this case, it appears as though the architecture is
attempting to emulate the gothic style. Once inside the daunting faаёЈаё‡ade, I was pleasantly
surprised to see how richly illuminated the museum was. What made it even more remarkable was
that much of the light appeared to permeate through skylights that had been built into the building
s ceiling. Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised to see that The Met was considerably less crowded
than the American Museum of Natural History, which I had visited the day before. As I began to
wander through the museum, I stumbled upon one of the best Egyptian collections I have ever
seen, with the exception of special travelling

According to Wikipedia, Internal auditing is a profession and activity involved in helping
organizations achieve their stated objectives. It does this by using a systematic methodology for
analyzing business processes, procedures and activities with the goal of highlighting organizational
problems and recommending solutions. Professionals called internal auditors are employed by
organizations to perform the internal auditing activity. Internal auditors are employed by
companies to do both financial and operational auditing. Their role in auditing has increased

11. Modeling Disaster Recovery By Estimating Rpo And Rto
Modelling Disaster Recovery by Estimating RPO and RTO Thaila Annamalai (CSU ID:
830860017), thaila@colostate.edu
Abstract Disaster Recovery (DR) proposes strategies for choosing the pattern of DR for every
business Unit. The importance of the business and the DR readiness is assessed by the recovery
time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO). This assessing method make sure
business continuity even under a drastic failure and a long disrupted period. The data backup and
protection has become a basic requirement in networks because of the generation of data in huge
volume from each business unit. The disasters that can occur has to be identified and should be
evaluated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditionally, the DRP was to back up the data in a remote place and then access them during
disaster. The storing of data remotely can take place in two ways either periodically or from
time to time. These methods were costly and inefficient since large amount of storage was
needed. The development in cloud computing paved a way for this problem. In cloud computing
large amount of data can be generated and stored. Also, this gives real time backup of data.
Though only large scale business units use real time backup other advantages of cloud computing
are utilized by other business units. The primary working site and the backup site is separated.
The probability of failure occurring in both sites at the same time is rare. The RTO is defined as
the time during which the business unit is unavailable due to the failure. This includes the time of
the disaster occurrence and the time needed to restore the functionalities. The RPO is the time
period between two successive backups. This metric will let the user aware of the maximum
amount of data that can be lost when the restoration is completed. The RPO should be close to 0 in
an optimized DR system.
MOTIVATION
Disaster recovery has become the topic of interest in today s research due to two main reasons: (1)
The size of the computer data handled by the organizations are huge and are growing with time. (2)
if the data loss is not handled within the

12. Blindness In Oedipus The King Essay
Even those who acquire the physical ability to see may be blind to truth and the comprehension of
it. Although humans have a large capacity for knowledge, even the smartest individual is prone to
error and may be ultimately sightless to the obvious solution due to what they chose not to see. This
theme of constant and initial blindness becomes recurring in Sophocles Oedipus the King. This
recurring theme seems to play an important role in the development of the events and characters in
Oedipus the King. The tragic hero Oedipus, for example, is the quintessential example of a
character who experiences continual blindness. This continual blindness contributes to the dire fate
of Oedipus when at the conclusion of the play he finally realizes that he had actually been blind to
the truth for many years. Jocasta, Oedipus mother and wife, is another... Show more content on

accusation about Oedipus prophecy is indeed correct. The irony that is held in this particular scene

14. A Life Worth Remembering
A Life Worth Remembering Significance can be defined as being worthy of attention, and in a
world filled to the brim with more than seven billion people, it can be difficult to decipher who
is actually worthy. There are many different qualities and aspects to look at, and there may be a
lot of controversy surrounding the topic, depending upon who is determining the significance;
there is no questioning the fact that individuals come with varying opinions and in response to
this, it can be very challenging in choosing who is worthy of attention. In addition, it also raises
the question of what the qualities are that signify importance to the world. In today s world,
these qualities are very mixed and significance comes in many differing categories. A specific
category that comes into play is centered around individuals who have made a difference in the
world of music. Music carries a lot of weight due to the gift it gives to the world; especially
today, many people use music as an outlet, as something that keeps them going, as something to
make everything wrong, right again. There are many different genres and with each genre comes
specific names that hold significance. An exceptional example of this would be a woman who
made a name for herself in jazz music, a woman by the name of Ella Fitzgerald. Ella Fitzgerald was

16. Persuasive Essay On Flag Desecration
Fifty white stars, and thirteen red and white stripes should not be anywhere near the line of fire.
The American flag is the fabric of our nation. The cloth of the land, that simple 3 colored
polyester rectangle, has been fought for by millions of people. They weren t fighting for liberty
and free speech in WWI, WWII, Vietnam. They were fighting for the flag that many of them
were buried in. And yet, some people in your country enjoy burning it. The freedom to defend
the flag from desecration by its enemies has been cruely removed. Our democracy is strong
because we tolerate all peaceful forms of expression, no matter how uncomfortable they make us
feel or how much we disagree. The U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed and reaffirmed that the
right to desecrate the flag is included in the Constitution s protection of speech. Flag desecration
is a disrespectful expression to our nation and veterans. Flag desecration should be banned and
illegal in all fifty states. Flag desecration became protected under the first amendment in 1989 in
the case of Gregory Johnson. The Supreme Court, in the case of Gregory Johnson (1989), ruled
that it was in fact constitutional to allow people to burn the flag, the evidence against this ruling
is overwhelming. The law defined desecration as physical mistreatment of such objects in a way

24. Designing An Effective Advertisement
Introduction
What does it take to make an effective advertisement that will successfully communicate an
important message? What does it take to capture the eye of the intended audience? It could be
dependent on the color selections or maybe even a certain graphic or image. Although those are all
vital elements to take into consideration during the design process, the most important element in
creating an effective advertisement is typography. Typography by definition is the arrangement and
manipulation of a certain typeface or typefaces on the layout of a design. Arranging text into an
effective design requires plenty of thought and a fair amount of experimentation.
A designer must consider the many different factors including alternative typefaces, point sizes, line
lengths and character spacing. These text elements represent typography, and with the correct
combination, it could be the means to a very successful advertisement and design. When looking at
typography from a marketing mentality, it is crucial to pay attention to the overall appearance and
tones advertisements try to express. Typography is a powerful tool to establish an identity or
presence, showcase the services or products it can offer them, and subtly inject the intended
message, above and beyond the actual words and graphics.

Burial Rites is a novel based on a true story by Hannah Kent, which provides a voice to Agnes
Magnusdottir, a convicted criminal who was executed for a crime she may or may not have
committed. Kent conveys the historical genre through the novel and utilises setting in order to
engage readers by including modes of communication, transport and the way of life in the 1800 s
that are not commonly used anymore. Throughout the novel, Kent optimises dialogue through the
use of old terms and utilising old court documents which placereaders in the 1800 s, engaging them
in a historical event that has been silenced.
Burial Rites explores the historical aspect of this compelling, real life tale through setting by
using horses as transport, letters as communication and execution as a punishment for murder.
Horses are no longer commonly used as a mode of transport and letters are generally no longer
used as a form of communication, however, Kent optimises these historical features in her novel
by including predominant ways of life in the 1800 s. This effectively engages the readers as it sets
them in an alternative world. In the 1800 s, when Agnes life was taken not knowing if she was
innocent or not, death was her sentence. Kent includes this within the novel to enhance the
historical genre as in many countries of the world today, it is usually 20 years in prison for murder

26. Hurricane Development
Meteorologists have made the lives of the general public as simple as it can be by dividing the
development of a hurricane into four stages: tropical disturbance, tropical depression, tropical
storm, and a full fledged hurricane. During a tropical disturbance, water vapor from the warm ocean
water condenses to form clouds, which in turn discharges heat into the air. Additionally, the heated
air rises and is pulled into the column of clouds. The continued evaporation and condensation is
what constructs the cloud columns to be higher and grander. Nevertheless, a pattern develops
whereby windbegins to circulate around a center (much like water going down a funnel). The
moving column of air continues to combat more clouds, which in turn becomes... Show more

This results in the air at the top of the cloud column to cool and become volatile. Not only does
heat energy release from the cooling water vapor, the air at the top of the clouds becomes warmer.
Furthermore, air pressure increases and causes winds to move away from the high pressure area,
which causes pressures at the surface to drop. After this chaos, the air at the surface moves towards
the lower pressure area, rises, and creates more thunderstorms. A tropical storm, which is the last
step before becoming a full fledged hurricane and/or tropical cyclone, is when the wind speed
reaches thirty nine miles per hour. At this point in the formation of a hurricane, the storm is finally
assigned a name. During a tropical storm, winds simply begin to blow faster and turn around the
eye of the storm. It is during a tropical storm when a phenomenon known as the Coriolis effect, the

29. A Streetcar Named Desire Critical Summary
To conclude A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams did a fantastic job with revealing
much of Blanche s secrets. Scene nine began with Mitch coming over a little buzzed, but he
definitely knew why he was there. Blanch was alone and seemed to be surprised that he had came
back. She rambled on and on as he sat there to take it for a while. Eventually, he admitted to Blanche
what he had heard about her from three different people as he goes to turn on the light because
he had also found that she was quite a bit older than him. She tried to make excuses and
somewhat owned up to part of the accusations. Blanche wanted to marry him, however, Mitch
claimed that she wasn t clean enough for him or his mother. Blanche screamed fire out of the
window until it he scattered from Stanley and Stella s home. She was having illusions and
hearing noises all afternoon, so much that it drove her to have a few drinks. Stanley soon comes
in only to find Blanche wearing a fake tiara. He threw himself at her with force as she begged for
mercy. Stella was in the hospital getting ready to have a baby while Stanley, from what I
understand, raped her sister. That part was a surprise to me because I didn t feel that he would do
anything like that since he just wanted her out of his home. Although, I think that all of those
times that Blanche called him an animal was building up to it. He wanted to show her what he
really is. In the last scene when Stella is home, she had called for a doctorand

The American Revolution was more of a war for independence than an actual revolution. No
centuries old social orders were toppled like in the French Revolution. The catalyst behind the
American Revolution was the effect that certain English acts of legislation were having on the
American elite. For example, contrary to popular thought, the Tea Act actually lowered the price of
legitimately imported British tea which as a result became more popular than smuggled tea. The
Stamp Act also affected the American elite and had a negligible effect on the rest of Americans.
While the elite benefitted from independence, the rest of America was actually worse off
immediately following the Revolution. The Articles of Confederation set up a very weak

33. The Impact Of Rastafari On The Late 1920s And Early 1930s...
Rastafari Rastafari is a young religion that was established in Jamaica in the 1930s, which
originated from Marcus Garvey s movement in the late 1920s against the oppression of the
African Race. Rastafari advanced into a religion right after the crowning of Halie Selassie I as the
emperor of Ethiopia in 1930. There are approximately 1 million followers all around the world
today. There are multiple branches inside of Rastafari, each of them carrying similar customs,
beliefs, and views.
Rastafarianism commenced in the Jamaican Slums in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Rastafari
started out as a movement in the 1920s led by Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican publisher, journalist,
and entrepreneur. Garvey led the organization known as the Universal Negro Improvement
Association, whose intentions were to unify blacks with their land of origin. Garvey preached
Look to Africa where a black king shall be crowned, he shall be your Redeemer. (BBC) This
statement later became the basis of the Rastafari movement. When Emperor Halie Selassie I
crowned himself emperor of Ethiopia in 1930, Rastafarians saw the crowning as the fulfillment of
Garvey s prophecy. In fact, Rastafari takes its name from the Emperor s original name, Tafari.
(Biography). Rastafari followers believed that Emperor Halie Selassie was the Black Messiah, Jah
Rastafari, who is a figure of salvation. Jah Rastafari was thought to redeem blacks from white
suppressors, reunifying them with Africa, their native homeland.

Extinctions and Radiations

Submitted: November, 16th, 2016
The common pattern of alternating extinctions and radiations has been done through biodiversity
studies which studies the different organisms of species living on earth and where they live. In
Stilwell (2003) journal, Palaeocene faunas are characterized by a perceived rapid evolutionary
radiation involving many new taxa at both genus and species level. Stilwell stated Molluscs living
at the beginning of tertiary period after the K T extinction event was the beginning of modern fauna.
There was research that saw the decimation of scores of marine organisms. Mollusc groups were
mentioned (e.g. Ammonites, Belemnites Rudistid and Trigoniid Bivalves), (Stilwell, 2003).
In Stilwell s research journal, Austral Palaeocene Molluscs focuses on the composition of faunas
and patterns of evolution, it shows diversity and riches. The Southern Hemisphere show the break
up of Supercontinent Gondwana and also changes in oceanic circulation and climate. In the
northern Hemisphere shows major diversity changes in the Marine Realm.
In a journal written by Racki, it was mentioned, with the enlargement and nitrification most likely
will lead to the loss of deep water niches and step by step siliceous faunas go through severe non
selective losses during the end Permian mass extinction, (Racki, 1999). All because of sudden

The media and the government have all been shining a cascade of unfortunate lies on
suppressors. All these tragic shootings have all come to one unfortunate conclusion: firearms are
bad and must be restricted or even banned. The truth is, these events haven t even had
suppressors involved in them. This is quite an unfortunate thing since suppressors can do so
much good in all aspects of their use. Suppressors are a device used to reduce the decibel level of
the rifle s muzzle blast, through a system of baffles that redirect the air coming out of the barrel
reducing the noise output. They are threaded onto the end of a rifle, shotgun, or pistol barrel.

Many hunters use suppressors since they reduce the decibel level, causing the chance of
startling or alarming the prey from the muzzle blast. Suppressors are also useful for hunting
where wearing ear protection is not a viable option. In hunting, one of your best tools is sound,
being able to hear the prey prance through leaves or brush could make the difference between
killing your prey and not (Clemons). With a suppressor, you wouldn t need any ear protection,
making it possible to hear the prey move much easier. Many predator or varmint hunters use
them for the simple reason that they ll have a better opportunity to shoot another from the same
area at the same time. It is important that the coyote population stays under control otherwise the
deer that many of us rely on for food and love to hunt, will forever be overrun by these nasty
predators. If we become overrun by coyotes, all the deer will die, since coyotes are the number one

swimming in a swimming pool, rescuing an animal and helping his mom around the house. The
book then shows us Toni panel in his Superhero costume with a T across the chest and telling us
that Toni is terrific. This is a really cute storybook; my favorite thing about it is that Toni, a
young African American child is portrayed as a superhero. Already the book earns props for
diversity of its characters. It also shows Toni rescuing a stranded cat and helping out, generally

The gold standard uses gold directly or indirectly as money. In a pure gold standard, gold is used
in transactions, with all prices expressed in terms of the amount of gold needed for purchase.
Gold may be mint into coins so that its purity and weight will be certified by an authority since
gold can be alloy (mixed with other metals), and its weight is impossible to determine without
proper scales. Such coins can function as a unit of account. A monetary system can also be
regarded as a gold standardif representations of gold are used in exchange. For example, paper
notes can be part of a gold standard if a person can use them to claim gold. However, the word
claim can be vague. Normally, people think of paper currency as part of a gold standard if the notes
are backed by gold. Backing, however, may be largely irrelevant. For paper to represent gold, it
must be regarded as equivalent to a given quantity and purity of gold. Here, domestic currency is
freely convertible to gold.
The gold standard was a commitment by participating countries to fix the prices of their domestic
currencies in terms of a specified amount of gold. National money and other forms of money (bank

currency so that they could increase the money supply to stimulate their economies. When some of
the countries abandoned the gold standard, then it just collapsed, for it was a system that could not
work unless all of the trading countries agreed to it. The exit from the gold standard afforded
countries more leeway to stimulate their economies, as it gave them back their monetary autonomy
and allowed them to depreciate their exchange rates. But, at the same time, the depreciation in
exiting countries increased the difficulties for countries with an exchange rate that was still tied to
gold and consequently pushed them towards leaving the gold standard as

41. The Natural World In Anne of Green Gables Essay examples
Both nature and the natural world in Canadian literature are viewed as significant themes in
representing an alternative composition to a landscape. It insists on painting a bigger picture and
changing the perspective on how we interpret the world. The natural world is diverse with the
notion that it can be seen through malevolency, in which it can instill fear or be seen as a threat.
In addition, it can be seen as nuanced and viewed in a more positive structure, where it is
celebrated. In the coming of age story, Anne of Green Gables, Montgomery represents nature in an
optimistic standpoint and therefore, establishes that nature is emphasized through the genre of
romanticism. It can be argued that in the novel, Anne of Green Gables by... Show more content on

What did that tree, leaning out from the bank, all white and lacy, make you think of? She asked.
Well now, I dunno, said Matthew. Why a bride, of course a bride all in white with a lovely misty

she is able to take a tree branch and bring it to life by imagining that is connected with something
beautiful like a bride. It doesn t only suggest her inquisitive imagination, but also her intellect.
With using the enjoyments of nature to foster a desire, and with her perceptive vision she is
capable of imagining the branch as something else. Through its beauty and emphasis on colour
she can make a connection that the tree branch can be compared to a bride. It is crucial how
Anne doesn t take the natural sights of Avonlea for granted, because she values the power of self
expression in nature. Through her imagination with nature she is able to seek comfort. This is
seen on her first night in Avonlea, when she s afraid no one will come for her, so she turns to a
tree as her home, where she can sleep. She states, I had made up my mind that if you didn t
come for me and to night I d go down the track to that big wild cherry tree at the bend, and climb

Looking to 2007, a price promotion program would enable Culinarian cookware to: 1. contribute
to the minimum 15% revenue growth s objective set by the firm s CEO Audrey Roux 2. increase
its market share on the premium cookware segment and 3. build brand awareness among
consumers. We recommend Culinarian to run a 15% price promotion on the CX1 and DX1
categories of products during the high peak seasons (June July and November December), and to
advertise nationally on this promotion. We feel that a 15% discount rate is more adapted to the
brand s premium identity than the 30% discount rate suggested by Brown. Indeed, it shows more
consistency with the high end pricing strategy of the group ($200 rather $199.99) and seems fairly
adapted to consumers expectations since even at a rate of 10% that half of the retailers ran in 2004
the promotion remained successful. A 15% discount rate should encourage retailers to maintain the
suggested discount rate rather than lowering it because Culinarian would request a lower
contribution from retailers: from a 4% to a 3% loss in their margin. We believe that the best way to
enhance sales and to maintain the premium identity of the brand is to run that price promotion on
the two lower priced products: CX1 and DX1. This would avoid cannibalization between these two
products that target high

People can express their opinion by giving money to some organization or even a political
candidate in order to further their own ideas. Sometimes this medium is the only one where the
feel their voice is actually heard. Therefore, it is logical for people to be allowed to donate to any
organization that they believe shares their deeply held convictions. But contrary to the decision of
Supreme Court in the Citizens United case that Spending is speech, and is therefore protected by
the Constitution even if the speaker is a corporation, corporations are not citizens which should be
protected under the constitution (Dunbar, 2012). They are large entities that are made up of
potentially thousands that could not possibly share all of the same beliefs. Therefore, corporations
should not be allowed to give unlimited sums of money to organizations that then perform
electioneering communications ads that advocate for a candidate s election or defeat (Epstein,
2015). This money is likely coming from the top executives only and does not represent every
single employee or shareholder. This type of donation labels every employee from a corporation as
supporting the recipient of the donation, but that could never be true in a corporation of any

The word stereotype is today almost always a term of abuse. This stems from the wholly justified
objections of various groups in recent years, blacks, women and gays, in particular to the ways in
which they find themselves stereotyped in the mass media and in everyday speech. (Dyer, 1993) It
has been ages that Americans media have defined the Asian images to around the whole world.
Many of them that shaped that image usually have little or no understanding of the asian culture, its
people and its countries, hence the stereotype. Traditionally, the mass media in Hollywood does not
have a positive portrayer of the minority community, much less the Asians. It may due to the
inevitable fact of the consequences of globalisation and immigration, that it may seems as though
they have stolen away opportunities and the locals have to thus compete and also share their native
country as well as resources. In the postmodern world we become increasingly aware that the

45. The Importance Of A Person Has A Good Work Ethic
In America some jobs are more sought after than others, and to hold these positions without
having it taken away requires experience and a good work ethic. There are many ways to show
that a person has a good work ethic. Some are going to college and graduating with good grades.
Others are getting and holding a job in or after high school or doing internships. However, there
can be complications when a person is trying to show their interviewer that they have a good
work ethic. Without a previous job or internship there is not much information about the
individual applying for the job. Thus the employer might choose another worker. Even if the
person without a previous job or internship is a harder worker with a better work ethic, they
cannot show this until they are hired, and that is a risk that several companies do not take.
Impressing potential employers requires the ability to show that one can receive and hold a
previous job, or have been an internship that give the intern with experience in the work field.
One way to make a resume impressive is to have prior work experience. Not only does this show
that a person can hold a position at a place of work, but it also gives the potential employer a
source to contact and receive more information about that individual. Having a prior job can make
you appear to be a better candidate for the prospective job than someone with the same education
and work ethic, but has not had a job. In fact, college students may

46. Energy Sources Of Renewable Biomass
I. INTRODUCTION
As an abundant, inexpensive, and renewable as well as environmentally friendly (i.e. CO2
neutral) energy source, biomass energy has been a particular focus of researcher and policy
makers as well as industries around the world (Chen, 2003). Renewable biomass presents an
important research area for energy source, considering the current global crises of exhaustible
sources of energy. Bioenergy is the 4th largest source of energy in the world, and it does not
contribute to the global warming through emissions of CO2 or any other green house gases.
Biomass pyrolysis has witnessed exponential growth in its research and has been investigated
extensively in the last few decades, first in the form of fixed bed reactors and later in the form of
moving bed reactors (fluidized bed, auger bed etc). As the combustion of solid biomass is
analogous to the combustion of other solid fuels, such as coal and waste, essentially the same
technology is applicable to all solid fuels, although modifications are required to handle the high
content of moisture and volatiles typically associated with biomass fuels (Duffy Eaton, 2013). In
this paper, which reviews the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of fixed/moving bed
solid gas reactors, biomass pyrolysis, gasification and combustion has been the focus of the study.
Combustion of biomass in the presence of carrier gases like N2 etc has been extensively studied,
with focus being on the numerical or CFD models which have

47. Spiral of Silence Theory
Spiral of Silence Theory Elizabeth Noelle Neumann s spiral of silence is a theory that was
developed in 1974 and as the founder and the director of the Public Opinion Research Center in
Allensbach in Germany; she has found evidence of how the spread of public opinion is formed.
The term spiral of silence refers to the increasing pressure people feel to conceal their views they
think they are the minority. People will be unwilling to publicly express their opinion if they are
in the minority and they will also be more vocal if they believe they are a part of the majority.
Thus, the more marginalized you become, the less you speak and so you spiral into a fully
marginalized position. Neumann s claim are based on previous collaborative... Show more content

It is used to reveal a series of factors that measures the likelihood that people will voice their
opinions. There are six factors and the first one is the most important: 1. Those who favor the
majority position are willing to express their voice more comfortably. Feeling in harmony with
the spirit of the age loosens the tongue. [Griffin, Em. Spiral of Silence. A First Look at
Communciation Theory. 7th ed. N.p.: McGraw Hill, n.d. N. pag. Print. 2. If perception of the
present opinon does not match the climate of the conversation, the willingness to speak will
depend on how well the conversation continues on. 3. People are more willing to speak if their
views match their counterparts than to those who disagree. 4. Low self esteem will cause a
person to mute their opinion more often than others. 5. Males, young adults, and people of the
middle and upper classes tend to speak out more easily. 6. Existing law encourages people to
express their opinion when they feel outnumbered. The Supreme Court s Roe v Wade is a good
example. Now that we know the building blocks of the spiral of silence, we can get to root of
Noelle Neumann s model of her theory leading to her main point and the last factor, fear of
isolation. The fear of isolation is the centrifugal force that accelerates the spiral of silence.
Essentially, people fear becoming social isolates and thus take measures to avoid such a
consequence. Her assumption is drawn

let out another sneeze. The air was warm but dry the kind of weather that did not know if it
wanted to be a warm winter day or a cold spring afternoon. When the wind blew, even just a little
bit, it was like an orange dirt tornado out of the movie, The Wizard of Oz going everywhere. I
closed my eyelids so tight I start to see textures in neon colours in the inside of my lids. Tighter and
tighter, I shut them to assure I would not get dirt in them.
When I felt the wind stop blowing, I opened my eyes slowly and saw I was not in Kansas but ...

I stayed on the mound even when there were three outs. I belonged to both sides. At this point
during practice, I could feel my muscles in my arm starting to ache from the strenuous exercise I
was putting on my arm just through a practice. After every inning my coach would look up at me
through his baseball cap squinting. He always said the same line, Janie, you want me to give this a
go?
I brushed him off and continued doing what I was there for. I felt if I would walk away then it
would be a book missing a couple chapters. After the game was finished, I stood at the first base
line and watched the losing team doing laps. This concept of running because you lost always
made me think. I tried to incorporate this into everyday life. If you failed a game of red rover or
you did poorly on a test, would this be an incentive to do better. Could you really look at this as
something more then a punishment? Running your sins away. Maybe this view on life is closer
to me then I think. In the Jewish religion we have a day of repentment, Yom Kippur, which
occurs once a year. This holiday gives you a clean slate for all the mistakes you ve made but
maybe on an everyday stand you need to make sacrifices to yourself to have this pure slate once
again. Instead of looking at the team who loses running after the game as a punishment maybe it s
a way to cleanse your mind and forget your mistakes, to start over fresh. I felt weird just standing
there and

49. Black Power Mixtape Analysis
The Black Power Mixtape follows momentous events between 1965 and 1975. It is directed by
two Swedish directors, and their nationality is very important for the layout of the film. The film
takes place during the Civil Rights Movement, and included leaders such as Stokely Carmichael,
Angela Davis, Malcolm X, and Medgar Evers. This was also during the time of the Vietnam
War, whom Sweden saw a useless war. The heads of this country were the Nixon Administration,
and Lyndon Johnson s administration. Furthermore, The Black Power Mixtape included world
renowned artists such as Erykah Badu and Talib Kweli. I had no clue they were so educated on
these matters. Also, the author of our classes textbook, Robin Kelley, spoke. The compilation of
information and video footage was unbiased and fact based. The Black Panther movement was
more of the focal point of the film. This was a pivotal time in American history; as seen through
foreign eyes. Also, this is my first encounter with a foreign perspective of the United States during
the Civil Rights Movement. Coming up in school, no one ever taught me any other perspective on
this part of American history. There s no way possible they could compile ten years worth of events
into two hours, but the directors included information that I have never read before. Next, the era of
black power highlighted black nationalism, black arts, the economic structure of African

50. Pierre Elliot Trudeau
As one of the Canada s greatest leaders, Pierre Elliot Trudeau brought change that would change
Canada forever in a positive manner. Although it can be argued that Trudeau s behavior was
outlandish and informal at times, it could be considered charismatic, however, his behavior to
politics was superior. He was inspired to change Canadaand make it a better place to live. He did so
by implying the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, multiculturalism, and using laws to make Canada
a better place. Pierre Elliot Trudeau s actions changed Canada for the better. On April 17th, 1982,
when the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was signed into law (_The History of the Charter_),
Canadians lives would change forever. The Canadian Charter of Rights and... Show more content on

As a result, others who came were often considered foreigners because their race, color, religion,
or customs were different from those of the majority of Canadians (_Attitudes Towards
Immigrants_). Trudeau was the first to imply Multiculturalism in Canada. By implying it, it
allowed Canada to be a much more diverse and equal place. It also promotes respect for peoples
distinct cultural identity. Implying multiculturalism to Canada was one of Trudeau s greatest
accomplishments. Pierre Trudeau was a leader who not only brought change by bringing new
laws to Canada, but he changed the way people viewed other laws. Trudeau listened to the
majority, but also protected the rights of the minority which demonstrates he is a strong leader.
He once said Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all
parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them. (CBC Archives)
Trudeau has always strived for greatness and has been successful in many cases. As in the FLQ
crisis, Trudeau declared a brief period of Martial Law using the War Measures Act (WMA). By
doing this, he completely changed the view of the WMA. It had been assumed that the WMA
would be used in times of crisis, such as famines, depressions, pandemics and other serious
situations that are serious to Canada s well being. However, Trudeau demonstrated how it can be

52. Health Care And The Healthcare System
Health care will always be a topic of discussion. Every health care system has its pros and its
cons, due to the fact that healthcare in itself will never be perfect. Even in other countries around
the world, although their healthcare system works are much better than America s, it is still a
work in progress. In the videos from Sick Around the World and Kaiser Family Foundation s
video on describing how our healthcare system was before the Affordable Care and how it was
after the Affordable Healthcare act was passed, we get a glance of our own health care system here
in the United States. We also get a glance at the healthcare system in five distinct countries: Great

A negative charistic about Switzerland s healthcare system is that the average monthly premium
for a family is seven hundred fifty dollars, which is the second most expensive healthcare in the
world (Palfreman Reid, 2008). One of our biggest problems with our healthcare system is cost, it
s way too expensive. For a family in the United States, the average cost of a premium is almost
fourteen thousand dollars a year. The premiums have also doubled over the past nine years. Our
population is also aging and living much longer, this means more people have health problems
which raises healthcare prices even more. Another big problem in our healthcare system is that
it s filled with holes. People that buy health care on their own can be turned down if they have a
preexisting condition. Small businesses can also be charged if their workers are sick, which
makes insurance unaffordable. Some of the healthcare policies also have a lifetime limit on
benefits, which means people least likely to have coverage are the ones who need it the most
(Kaiser Family Foundation, 2013). The best component of the Affordable Care Act is that it
provides newly eligible adults with a benchmark benefit package , or an equivalent, that meets the
minimum health benefits. This new law increases coverage for primary care services provided by
primary care doctors. This law benefits families that hit the one hundred thirty three percent of the

53. Essay On Lgbtq Community
Since the late 1960 s, the LGBTQ community have started to seek equality towards rights. Even
though the LGBTQ community are still discriminated today and were discriminated in the past,
they now have the formal legal equality as everyone else. Canada is seen by other countries as a
leader to the respect of the LGBTQ community. The community has received many equality
benefits throughout the year which vary from, same sex marriageto health care. Before 1861 (laws
were controlled by Britain) it was illegal to be a homosexual and the penalty was a death sentence.
Many look back with disgust at the horrible past that Canada had with homosexuality. After 1861,
the sentence was reduced to 10 years in prison which is still obscure. Homosexuals at this time

1981, First official Pride Day assembled which we all celebrate today. In 1982, the Charter of
Rights and Freedoms was established which helped in future LGBTQ equality rights. Sexual
orientation fully became legal in Canada in 1986. The 1980 s was an extremely important decade
for recognizing the needs for LGBTQ equality rights. The 1990 s and the 2000 s showed
increase contribution to the gay community. In 1992, gays and lesbians were allowed to join the
military and in 1995 LGBTQ were allowed to adopt. By 1999, the court of Canada ruled that
gays were to have the same rights as straights. This rule wasn t implemented until 2005 in which
same sex marriage became legalized a year before. Now in the 2010 s and above, we are trying to
stop all the discrimination against the LGBTQ. All these years and events are historically
significant because it is amazing how Canada adapted so quickly to giving gays equal rights as
everyone else in Canada. Before 1969, you were tossed in jail for being gay but now the LGBTQ
community can come and live in Canada with peace and

54. Non-Allowing And Non Yielding Rein
Hands:
Allowing: This is the way we use the reins most of the time. Neither allowing so much that you lose
the contact nor have such a dead contact that the horse leans on it.
Non allowing/ Non yielding Rein: This is when you stop allowing by clenching your fingers on
the reins and tightening the muscles in your arms so that they cannot be moved forward. This
blocks the forward momentum and can achieve such movements as trot to walk or halt. A non
yielding also used when there is a contact problem. It is just applied for a second or split second.
You would first apply your seat and legs aids and then this rein to remind the horseto go forward
into contact.

55. The Legacy Of Health Insurance
As an individual becomes a part of something it is almost always necessary to comprehend the
history and reasoning behind the way things are being completed in today s world. With this being
said, the history of health insurance has flourished throughout the centuries. With health insurance
being one of the most needed household items, in the 1920s, the situation was somewhat a
different story. In 1919, there was a study directed in Illinois to show that the wages that were lost
from the individuals being out sick were actually four times larger than the incidentals linked with
curing the illness. As the world was moving forward so was the need for health insurance. In the
1929, a group of Dallas school teachers made an agreement with the Baylor hospital to arrange
for 21 days of hospitalization for $6 per year. Then in 1930, blue shield came into the insurance
world with plans for people using physician services. With blue shield becoming an available
insurance company, the businessmen soon realized that those who worked a job were healthier and
better for business. Further marketable carriers began to raise the value of the business sense and
they soon began to outperform blue cross/blue shield. As the insurance companies were becoming a
booming business, in 1954, section 105 was added to the internal revenue code. This allows an
employer to offer a plan to reimburse employees, medical expenses which include insurance
premiums. Developments in medical equipment alongside

56. Essay on the Constitution of India
The constitution defines our national goals of democracy, socialism and secularism, guarantees
equality, liberty, justice, etc., to the citizens. It confers on us our fundamental rights and duties and
also contains the directive principles for the government. It tells us about the intensions of our great
leaders who drafted and gave us our Constitution.
The farming of our constitution
Indians had been demanding complete independence since 1929. Eventually, in 1945, Mr. Clement
Atlee, who was sympathetic towards the Indians, became the Prime Minister of England. He sent
the Cabinet Mission to India to solve the political problem (whether to divide the country or to

It abolishes untouchability. It states that all citizens can use public employment.
All titles such as Sir , Rai Bahadur, Khan Bahadur, have been abolished by the Constitution to
remove class distinctions and maintain equality. Article 18 prohibits the state from conferring such
titles. It can only confer military or academic awards. No citizen of India is permitted to accept
any title even from any foreign state, especially if he is employed in a government job, without the
permission and consent of the President of India.
Right to Freedom:
In a democratic country like ours, safeguarding the freedom of an individual is very essential. Six
freedoms have been granted to the citizens both individually and collectively. They are:
a. Freedom of speech and expression;
b. Freedom to assemble peacefully without arms;
c. Freedom to form associations or unions;
d. Freedom to move freely throughout the territory of India;
e. Freedom to reside and settle in any part of the country; and
f. Freedom to practice any profession or to carry on any occupation, trade or business.
But there are certain restrictions or limitations on these freedoms. For instance, the right to freedom
of speech does not mean that we can say anything to anyone. Our freedom to speech does not entitle
us to make statements that are not in the interest of the security of the nation or sours ours relations
with other countries.
Similarly, the right to freedom of movement is also subject
