It first discusses how fictions can be useful in communication rather than something bad, before examining key aspects of intercultural communication and dialogue theory. It then proposes exploring "frames of discourse" and communication styles as tools to improve both dialogue and intercultural competence through a mutual enhancement between the disciplines. The goal is to discover more systematic ways the fields can inform each other and create new applications through a discussion of frames, metaphors, and achieving a higher level of self-awareness to transform unsuccessful intercultural interactions.

As an education academic who spent many years as a drama teacher it has been an interesting journey for me to find those theorists, scholars and master practitioners whose work resonates for me, and who articulated principles and truths that I had also discovered for myself.
For both Heathcote and Vygotsky, learning was a social process that recognized the importance of individual interactions with knowledgeable others and peers. Learning was not conceived of as transmission but a mediated activity involving symbolic and psychological tools. In both cases the way they conceived of childrens’ learning potential was predicated on valuing what they could do and become through interactions with concepts and artefacts from cultures.
In this paper I will identify several themes in work by Vygotsky and Heathcote and explore their relevance to a recent project I have been involved in. The Water Reckoning Project was a process-based drama project enacted across five school sites around the world. It involved the use of digital technologies for capturing and sharing creative work and facilitating networked communicaitons and performative acts. The use of digital technologies increase the repertoire of potential tools available for transformative learning - with the teacher's role still remaining an active one - as the curator and designer of aesthetic encounters.

Participatory Culture and Digital Concept at the Favela Museum, Rio de Janeir...inventionjournals
This article is based on the study of digital engagement in the Favela Museum, Cantagalo, Pavão, Pavãozinho in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The conceptual frame is the digital anthropology coined as a subdiscipline by Miller and Horst (2013) which highlights that digital activism can be seen as a socio-cultural mediation system. The main reference is Geismar (2012) who defines digital engagement in the museum context. She argues that although some analysts suppose that digital technologies in museums represent a new epistemology, in fact, the emergence of digital technologies is part of a long-standing trajectory of networking, classifying and forging representations of human being and material culture. The debate about personal memories, collective or culture memories can be highlighted for different contemporary issues. These are the main capital in the Favela Museum. Furthermore, the Favela Museum’s heritage includes acts of individual memory, personal narratives, communal stories, institutional memories and mediated objects. Products of memories comprise what favela dwellers choose to capture. What they decide to record or remember without recording it. When you work on a digital anthropology concept in the museum context, it is assumed that the cosmology drastically varies according to each specific sociocultural technological environment. By following Geismar’s (Idem) theory, I am suggesting that in each local digital culture, technology plays a different role. This article is based on the study of digital engagement in the Favela Museum, Cantagalo, Pavão, Pavãozinho in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The conceptual frame is the digital anthropology coined as a subdiscipline by Miller and Horst (2013) which highlights that digital activism can be seen as a socio-cultural mediation system. The main reference is Geismar (2012) who defines digital engagement in the museum context. She argues that although some analysts suppose that digital technologies in museums represent a new epistemology, in fact, the emergence of digital technologies is part of a long-standing trajectory of networking, classifying and forging representations of human being and material culture. The debate about personal memories, collective or culture memories can be highlighted for different contemporary issues. These are the main capital in the Favela Museum. Furthermore, the Favela Museum’s heritage includes acts of individual memory, personal narratives, communal stories, institutional memories and mediated objects. Products of memories comprise what favela dwellers choose to capture. What they decide to record or remember without recording it. When you work on a digital anthropology concept in the museum context, it is assumed that the cosmology drastically varies according to each specific sociocultural technological environment.
