Condoleezza Rice Essay
Condoleezza Rice
Not many people can add the position of National Security Advisor to their list of achievements,
especially if those people are women. Condoleezza Rice, however, can place the accomplishment
right up there with being a previous member of President Bush s foreign policy team, and tenured
professor and provost in the political science department of the prestigious Stanford University.
Rice is well known for her knowledge on Russian history and current events. After growing up in
Birmingham, Alabama during a time of racial segregation, Rice soon went on to graduate from
the University of Denver at the age of 19 (she skipped two grades), where she became an expert in
the issues of the Soviet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a 45 year old African American woman, Condaleezza Rice definitely has some opposition to
face. Still, Rice has proven herself to be anything but a pushover. President Bush says Dr. Rice is
not only a brilliant person; she is an experienced person. She is a good manager. I trust her
judgment. America will find that she is a wise person, and I m honored [she joined] the
administration .
Rice also shows strong opinions concerning what it means to be American, and how America fits
within the realm of the rest of the world. Power matters. But there can be no absence of moral
content in American foreign policy, and furthermore, the American people wouldn t accept such an
absence. Europeans giggle at this and say we re naive and so on, but we re not Europeans, we re
Americans and we have different principles .
Rice considers herself completely Republican in all issues. With regards to foreign policy, she
sees herself as conservative. On other issues, however, she views herself as libertarian and
moderate. Still, Ms. Rice is considered less isolationist than some leading Republicans... She has
said she will work to promote Mr. Bush s vision of combining humility with strength around the
world .

Theme Of Irony In Othello
Irony is the literary technique used and plays a great role in Othello. The most sinister and
threatening character is Iago, and therefore he creates tension and combat in the play. The use of
irony in Iago s monologues are what stimulates the action in the plot and intensifies it for the
audience, characters, and the readers. It also gives insight to Iagos true intentions and character. Iago
uses ironyin this way as a sport, and for his own personal happiness. Iago has a reputation for
honesty, consistency, and straightforward speaking. Othelloand others in the play refer to him as
honest Iago , although this is juxtaposed with Iago s manipulation towards people around him.
Cassio was promoted to Othello s lieutenant instead of Iago, which... Show more content on

Dramatic irony helped to build interest in the play, as only Iago and the audience know about
his plan, while the rest of the characters are manipulated. The audience is left wondering if
anyone will figure out Iago s deceiving plan before a tragic ending occurs. Consequently, the
audience s emotions are highly invested in the play, as we know Desdemona is innocent, and
does not deserve the doubt against her. The dramatic irony in the play is the most jealous
resentments over offenses that only Iago planted the seeds of, which creates the tragic events of
the play. On the other hand, verbal irony is used by Iago through his contradictory words which
suggests the opposite of his true identity. Iago speaks carefully and at length with Othello, and
uses his words wisely. He is then easily able to manipulate any character in front of him and plants
suspicion and jealousy throughout the play. In the end, Iago uses his mendacious traits to raise the
tragic flaw of character in Othello. Shakespeare creates Iago as the process to the end of

Lieutenant General Saint And His Command Sergeants
In early 1986, Lieutenant General Saint and his Command Sergeants Major, Command Sergeants

excellence in performance and leadershipabilities that resemble those of other influential NCO s. A
special group that needed a figure head that all members could emulate and strive to act in

assisting with the restoration of homes belonging to citizens in the area. One of the most

The Effects Of Physical Inactivity On Human Body
Background
Its widely known that physical inactivity has enormous negative health effects. Poor cardio
respiratory fitness, adiposity, impaired glucose toler ance, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis are
independent threats to health and that physical inactivity increases the risk for premature death
(Lars). The negative health effects of physical inactivity are numerous. Examples are high blood
pressure, increased risk of diabetes, increased stress and depression, and shorter life expectancy. It
is clear that not being physically active takes a large toll on the human body. There are many
different ways that an individual can turn their life around. Anything from going for a walk or
going from a 5 mile run will make a lasting effect. Some people take exercise to the extreme and use
high intensity training.
During intense exercise the body gets pushed to its limits. The cardiovascular system is one that is
pushed to its bounds. While at rest the heart is beating at about 70 beats per minute. During vigorous
exercise, the heart rate increases dramatically. The general rule to find the maximum heart rate is
taking 206.9 (0.67 x age) (Waehner). For an average 20 year old, that is about 194 beats per
minute which is over double the heart at rest. The increase in heart rate is because it is doing
everything it can to push blood to the muscles during that time. The muscles demand 50% of the
blood flow during intensive exercise, whereas they only demand 10% while at rest

Organizational Change And Development Of Management

alternatives to the current methods of operation that may help to improve the cycle time for the
release of new software products. Locating a new methodology that he believes will reduce the

In a Leadership Seminar this week, Mr. Skinner learned of the new Agile Methodology for
improving the flexibility of the organization and shortening the release cycle of the product.
Immediately feeling that this was the answer to the problems within his organization, Mr. Skinner
hired external consultants and began to introduce the new methodology. The After The principles of
the new Agile Methodology emphasize breaking up the traditional long term software development
cycle into several smaller iterations (or releases) of the product within short timeframes. (Douglas
Tech Trends, Inc., 2006) These principles spoke to me on a very fundamental level, said Skinner.
Realizing that the change in methodology would help his organization to better meet the
organizational goals for Blue Cloud s development as well as propel them strategically ahead of
their competition, Mr. Skinner hired a group of external experts in the Agile Methodology to get the
process going. The current development structure at Blue Cloud was a traditional development
environment, so Mr. Skinner set up a meeting with the organization to introduce them to the new
methodology. At this meeting, he introduced a group of skilled consultants in the new methodology
that were to lead the implementation. Mr. Skinner knew that the proper management of the
implementation of the new Agile Methodology was going to take program expertise and a lot of

Reasons For The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire had existed as a powerful force for over 1000 years. The Romans brought
prosperity, order, technological advances, and advanced military to the West. The empire which
was thought to run for several centuries would only be seen in the waning years as a Golden Age
Empire which could not hold itself in the end. The Roman Empirefell due to several reasons. Some
reasons of why Rome fell was due to Insubstantial Military, Economic Decrease, The Huns,
Barbarian Tribes, Full power of the Emperor, and Rise of The East Empire. An Empire which was
taught to had mastered its civilization had no way to let it s own people be the cause of one the
most renowned empires. How indeed did this mighty empire fall?
The Roman Empire fell due to many reasons and one of the main reasons due to why it collapsed
was due to insubstantial military. Insubstantial military was mainly caused by financial issues.
The government had not enough money to pay militants to work for their army. Many soldiers
did not receive their salary by cash as the state deducted food and clothing tax from their pay. To
this decision, a legionary on active campaign would hope to add the booty of war , from the
bodies of their enemies and as plunder from enemy settlements. Slaves could also be claimed from
the prisoners of war and divided amongst the legion for later sale, which would bring in a sizeable
supplement to their regular pay. In the late Roman Empire, it became increasingly difficult for

The Rise Of Asian Civilizations
Do you feel that Asian Civilizations from 1500 to 1700 veered towards modernity or careened back
toward traditional culture? From the 16th to 18th century, the prominent Asian Civilizations were
the Mughal Empire, the Ming Dynasty of China and the Edo Period of Japan. There was an obvious
trend that these empires leaned toward traditional culture mainly because of political influences.
Although there were also several aspects of each society such as the more important role of women
in the Mughal Empire, the interactions of the Jesuits with Chinaand Japan that might be indicative
of modernity or act as a precursor to modern values, the reversion of traditional culture in each
civilization is so much greater that it outweighed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, farming lands were reclaimed, campaigns of reforestation were initiated, roads and
canals were paved and dug, and irrigation and flood prevention measures were constructed.
Instead of focusing on trading and commercialism like their previous Mongolian rulers, the Ming
reverted back to the traditional Chinese agrarian society. At around the 16th Century, the Edo
Period began in Japan, marked by the ruling of the Tokugawa Ieyasu over Daimyos, or feudal
lords. Because of his military strength, the Shogun was able to help restore the Imperial rule to its
former glory by granting lands to the royal family and creating a system that emulates tradition,
installing the Emperor as the head of Japan, when in reality it is but a figurehead. However, at least
it is ceremonially important and is considered upholding of traditional values. The Shogun also
banned Japanese from traveling abroad as well as completely isolating Japan from the rest of the
world after several disputes with Europeans and their Jesuits. This is why Japan remained largely
uninfluenced by modern Western Ideals until the 18th century. Another noteworthy example of
traditionalism in these civilizations is the presence of a strong caste system within their society. In
the Mughal Empire, the caste system of the Indians which make up the most of the population was
still in effect at that time.

How To Build A Rocket
This is my 9th year in 4 H. After several years of food projects, showing sheep, and building
rockets, I have built one of my most challenging rockets yet. I will talk about the challenges of the
rocket, what I have learned and how the flights went.
This was a difficult rocket to say the least. It was made challenging by the fact that the fins, which
needed to be rounded, were very thin or very curved which caused possible miss sanding of the
fins. Along with this, I came across a point in which I could decide between two ways of
constructing the rocket. I could either have it separate at the nose cone, or at the AV bay which I
decided to put in. I chose to have it separate at the AV bay because the electronic were kept safer
that way.

The Roles Of Women In Ancient Greece, Rome, And Egypt
s history runs its course, there are certain topics that are always addressed such as religion,
politics, and societal structure. Also brought up is the role of women. During all periods of the
world, women are given their own category due to being treated differently than the men.
Comparing the women of ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt reveals the vast differences of people
s views of women and the disappointing similarities of being unjustly judged based on their gender.
Each of these cultures puts their women into positions that are degrade the skills of females, some
more than others, and create the societal barriers for women that last for many years after ancient
times. A telling sign of how each culture views their women is in the stories of their creation. The
Romans, Egyptians, and Greeks all had their own theories as to how humans were put on Earth. The
Egyptians had three different creation myths, all with different characteristics. The myth including
Nun and Ptah do not include women, but they also do not identify that it was men created first.
These describe the creation of society, not a society of men that was created and then women added
along the way. The other creation myth from Egypt includes the frog headed gods and snake
headed goddesses such as Kek, Kauket; Heh, Hauhet. Women were integrated into the formation of
the culture which exhibits the view of women in Egypt. They were not an afterthought. Contrasting
this ideal is the creation

The Function Of A Memory
The capacity to form memory in face of stressful stimuli is an essential adaptive behaviour that
enables organisms to respond rapidly and effectively to similar demands1. The stress response is
largely mediated by the hypothalamic pituitary adrenocortical axis (HPA) coupled with the release
of catecholamines through adrenergic neural discharges1. These physiological mechanisms activate
downstream pathways that stimulate metabotropic alterations in neural networks, resulting in long
term memoryformation1. In animals and humans, stress mediated neuroendocrine responses
enhance the consolidation of emotional memories2. However, exposure to traumatic or chronic
stress can result in memory impairments as well as memory related psychopathologies such as
posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) 1. Noradrenergic mechanisms are largely implicated in the
mediation of emotional memory consolidation1. Therefore, the disruption of this mechanism during
periods when memories are in a molecularly labile state has been proposed as a clinical method of
pharmacologic modification of intolerable memories in psychiatric patients3. The application of ОІ
adrenergic receptorantagonists during periods of memory reconsolidation is a possible novel
mechanism of emotional memory modification in patients with memory related
psychopathologies4. In this paper, the influence of the noradrenergic receptor antagonists,
propranolol, on stress mediated memory reconsolidation will be characterized. Similarly,

Dilemma at Devil s Den
CASE STUDY

DILEMMA AT DEVIL S DEN
INTRODUCTION
In the case study of the Dilemma at Devil s Den, we have a student snack bar Devil s Den, which
was managed by contract with an external company College Food Services (CFS) that had many
organizational challenges that needed to be immediately addressed. An employee Susan realized
these challenges. One of the main many problems was the theft that was going on for a long
time. The employees were allowing their friends to take free food, and they themselves were also
taking food in large quantities when leaving their shifts. The storage room could be easily
accessible as it was unlocked all the time. Employees took advantage of this situation to take free
freebies from the storage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ANALYSIS
The management system at CFS has, till now, been an unprofessional work environment with a
most casual and unconcerned stance towards its employees immoral ways. The employees,
mostly fresher s, are devoid of any previous experience of a workplace, causing them to adopt
their own set of rules and regulations on being introduced into such a careless work scenario.
Added to that is the low paying job, subject to growth by a mere 15% after promotion, along with
the pressures of long working hours and overnight shifts is tempting them towards ulterior means.
The unchecked ways of these newbies has led to a lot of loss to the Devil s Den, both in financial
terms as well as in terms of its reputation before customers who too are taking advantage of the
situation.
This informal attitude of employees has led to an unprecedented state of affairs wherein Susan
needs to step in and take a stance between her moral beliefs and gains of a more personal nature.
She needs to analyze the pros and cons of each dilemma that she faces. As the student management
is not willing to take action on this matter, Susan could, abiding by her values, approach the co
workers and demand that this immoral activity be stopped. However, this may turn the group
against her and she may, eventually, be forced from her position.
Alternatively, Susan could wait till she is appointed as a manager in the

The Charms Of The Central Park
Although Tanis Lightbody could hear the sounds of New York City softly wafting over the low
wall to where he sat just inside Central Park s North Woods, it was the silence from within the park
that echoed in his ears, that resonated with the silence within him that he cultivated as he watched
the sunset beyond the woods, beyond the glass, steel, and concrete mountains that surrounded the
park.
Tanis knew that to the east a pale full moon was rising and would soon bathe he and the park in its
silver light, and that was the best time for his rock hounding, the best time for him to harvest the
Star Stones he used to make his jewelry and sculptures, the stuff off his livelihood.

The Essence Of Kanye West
The essence of Kanye West is a contradiction; he embodies two opposite sides of the hip hop
spectrum: the conscious and the ignorant. One side of the spectrum embodies the ideals of
brotherhood, collective being, and addresses the social and political aspects affecting the people
of society as Kanye explained formerly as spoken word. The other side demands the artist to live
through the art of self gratification by any means necessary or as Kanye put it, being able to buy
80 gold chains and go ig nant. Some may argue that the art of compromise in the commercialization
of rap music has been compromised by self proclaimed fashion mogul, and egotistical rap artist,
Kanye West. He s one of the most virtuous and artistically driven rappers in the game, with goals
much bigger just dropping albums.
In 2004, College Dropout was the album that brought the combative soul producer from Chicago
into the hip hop conversation. It sold 2.6 million copies and won a Grammy for Best Rap Album.
On Ye s classic, he addressed his personal struggles of insecurity, conforming to social norms,
spirituality, materialism, consumerism, family and personal relationships, near death experiences,
and his rags to riches story. All Falls Down was one of Kanye s early masterpieces, a time when
his vulgarity, goofiness, soul, and intelligence came together to create a mesmerizing four minute
story. Originally debuted at the Def Jam Poetry Slam as a spoken word, you could hear the

Collateral Damage with the Frontier Resource Group
Have you considered what would happen if we acted on our own conscience and did what we
thought was right? Think about the impact that would occur on others around us. The US has
several groups of privatized military men that engage in military tactics around the world. Where
collateral fallout and world conflict arise, the privatized military group known as Frontier Resource
Group conducts military missions. Mercenary, Erik Prince, founder of the privatized military
organization known as Frontier Resource Group, used his navy seal background and
information obtained from the CIA to carry out his own reconnaissance missions. War torn
countries like Somalia, South Sudan, and central Africa are just a few countries that Frontier
Resource group left devastated with the clear objective that Prince was a war profiteer. Erik
Prince integrates his own military evaluations, war tactic, and analysis, to inflict harm and sell
firearms to enemies in devastated war torn countries. Building roads and investing in airstrips for
some of the poorest regions in Africa seems like a legitimate business turn around for a war
profiteer like Erik Prince. Recently, Prince made a 105 million dollar deal with Citic, an
advertising firm based in Hong Kong, for transporting equipment and provided security in and
around some of Africa s most dangerous regions. (Feith) His privatized military group, planned

The Constitution Of The Founding Fathers Of This Country...
Under the precepts of the Founding Fathers of this country, we are ruled by this fluid document
formally known as the Constitution. One that advances, changes after some time, and acclimates to
fit the present state of affairs, without being authoritatively amended. It can be revised; however,
the change procedure is exceptionally troublesome. The most imperative changes were added to the
Constitutionright around a century and a half back, in the wake of the Civil War, and since that
time a large portion of the revisions have managed generally minor matters.
In the interim, the world has changed in boundless ways. The country has developed in domain and
its populace has duplicated a few times over. Innovation has changed, the worldwide status quo has
changed, the economy has changed, social norms have transformed, all in ways that nobody could
have anticipated when the Constitution was conscripted. Also, it is simply not reasonable to expect
the unwieldy amendment process to remain cognizant of these progressions. Consequently, it
appears to be unavoidable that the Constitution will change, as well. It is something to be thankful
for, in light of the fact that a perpetual Constitution would not positively impact and aid the general
public. It is possible that it would disregard or, more terrible, it would be a block, a relic that keeps
us from launching new dimensions and hinders our forward mobility.
Then again, there are numerous justifications to question the

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control
The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest
total and per capital number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of
men and 12% of women). America s pervasive gun culture stems in part from its colonial history,
revolutionary roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: A well
regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep
and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Proponents of more gun control laws state that the Second
Amendment was intended for militias; that gun violence would be reduced; that gun restrictions
have always existed; and that a majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun
restrictions. Pros:High capacity magazines should be banned because they too often turn murder
into mass murder. A Mother Jones investigation found that high capacity magazines were used in
at least 50% of the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012. [7] When high capacity
magazines were used in mass shootings, the death rate rose 63% and the injury rate rose 156%.
David H. Chipman, Senior Vice President of Public Safety for Shot spotter and former Bureau of

Maturation In Charles Portis Novel True Grit
In Charles Portis novel, True Grit, the protagonist, Mattie Ross develops new characteristics of
maturation as she hunts for her father s killer. She is very brave and mature for a fourteen year

BSNL C DOT DSS MAX uses UNIX operating system to operate the exchange.
The UNIX operating system is a set of programs that act as a link between the computer and the

computer s internals is called the operating system or kernel.
Users communicate with the kernel through a program known as the shell. The shell is a command

is understood by the kernel.
UNIX was originally developed in 1969 by a group of AT T employees at Bell Labs, including Ken

There are various UNIX variants available in the market. Solaris UNIX, AIX, HP UNIX and BSD

Several people can use a UNIX computer at the same time; hence UNIX is called a multiuser

multitasking. This is why BSNL uses UNIX operating system as the exchanges can be operated

The Challenges of E Commerce
Today s business managers face many challenges when migrating a traditional brick and mortar
company to that which is now known as the evolutionary click and mortar business model that is, a
business that operates in the Internet market space. To stand boldly in the face of challenges
presented by the networked economy, firms must develop competencies that enable not only high
performance market interactivity and adaptive, intuitive customer engagement platforms, but also
contribute to the development of sound business strategies that ensure a firm s competitiveness in
the vast web based business environment. Considering this, important factors such as ... Show more

Business Challenges Unique to e Commerce Operations
Managers face many challenges when deploying an e commerce business model; therefore, it
becomes necessary to examine, research, and analyze the different types of e commerce
infrastructures in order to develop and implement a sound business strategy that embraces the
networked marketplace. The result of such studies helps managers to determine strategy, deploy
resources, operate firms, manage relationships with their markets, and measure results, (Rayport
Jaworski, 2003, p.2). Therefore, it is important for leadership to consider the appropriate strategic
alignment of such efforts with the firm s overall mission, values, strategies, and available resources
so as to ensure transparency in business operations whether it falls within the physical or web based
operational infrastructure.
The first steps that managers must consider when developing and employing an online business
strategy include the ways in which information, goods and services and communications are
exchanged in the web based operational model. In essence, they must realize that technology and
digitalization is key to fostering customer centric user experiences, so as to support transactional,
order fulfillment, and information exchange. In addition, an

The Taxation Of South Africa
(Alternative version to first line Just as an egg will vary from hen to hen, so do tax systems from
country to country. )
As there are no two eggs that are identical, tax systems vary from country to country. Each country
has its own rules and principles to levy taxes from its citizens and foreigners to whom it conducts
business in order to support its operations. South Africa is no different. When a country s own
people conduct business, or foreigners invest or trade within its domestic jurisdiction, it is
necessary for the tax system to balance carefully its domestic and international economic objectives.
It is essential to understand how the taxation system is applied to residents and non residents in
order to maximize one s own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Income is taxed in the country where that income originates, irrespective of the legal or physical
residence of the recipient. Even though South Africa Adopted the residence based system in 2011,
many states will still tax the income derived by a person from commercial activities undertaken in
their states. A source based system of tax imposes a taxation liability on income arising within a
specific jurisdiction or territory.
From the Appellate Division of Kerguelen Sealing Whaling Co., Ltd v CIR ЛЎ, the fundamental
logic of a residence based tax system has been contrasted to that of a source based system in the
following: In some countries residence (or domicile) is made the test of liability for the reason,
presumably, that residents, for the privilege and protection of residence, can justly be called upon
to contribute towards the cost of good order and government of the country that shelters him. In
others (as in ours) the principle of liability adopted is source of income : again, presumably, the
equity of the levy rests on the assumption that a country that produces wealth by reason of its
natural resources or the activities of its inhabitants is entitled to a share of that wealth, wherever the
recipients of it may be live. In both systems there is, of course, the assumption that the country
adopting the one or the other has effective means to enforce the levy.
For tax purposes, it is important to know how

A Brief Look at Costco

self service retail experience with a wide selection of products (big box) at very low prices to fee
paying members. Five Forces Analysis of the competition in the North American Wholesale Club
Industry Rivalry among Competing Sellers The strongest force facing the Wholesale Club Industry
is fierce competition from internal rivals. All incumbents have a similar product mix and there are
not a lot of options to differentiate from the competition. It is not only very competitive between the
three main clubs competing for market share, but the industry also competes against discount retail
outlets such as department stores, grocers, insurance providers, optical, gas stations and other
outlets. Focusing on the primary three competitors within the industry the rivalry for buyer
patronage is high due to the following main points: The majority of products offered by industry
members are commodities and are weakly differentiated which increases rivalry. Switching costs
are low. Businesses and household buyers can easily switch their memberships to another wholesale
club. Also, the added competition of discount retail outlets that may offer a greater selection and

Dr. Chandra Kumar s Lock Up
This paper deals with thePain, Torture and Humiliation in Tamil versatile director Vetrimaran s
film Visaranai(Interrogation)which is based on M. Chandra Kumar s autobiographical novel
Lock Up. The film narrates bitter and painful experiences of the Tamils who work in Andra
Pradesh. How the immigrants are treated as aliens in other state even in the same country. The
law maker should not be law breaker but it is true sometimes the law maker is a law breaker for
their own concerns. The film is a cruelly honest portrayal of what goes on behind the closed doors
of a policelock up under the guise of an interrogation. The arrogance of those in power and the utter
helplessness of those caught in the web of the justice system is unthinkable. Once in custody, the
nightmare never ends. What makes it truly terrifying is the knowledge that the plot is not the result
of someone s imagination but is based on true incidents. It also brings out the torture and
humiliation for four friends of low class people.
Key Words:Pain, Torture, Humiliation, Interrogation and Immigrants.
Introduction:
The filmVisaranai begins in rural Andhra Pradesh, a Telugu speaking region of India, where a
small group of Tamil speaking immigrants, considered foreigners, have migrated to find work.

How Does Berger Use American Apparel Images
In John Berger s Ways of Seeing he offers the idea that to be a woman has been to be born...into
the keeping of men. He illustrates on page 46, that women are born to satisfy men, at least in
terms of art for most European painters. He empathizes this point by pointing at nude portraits and
oil paintings. I decided to analyze my own choice of advertisement to compare his theory in the
modern world. I chose an American Appareladvertisement; the company has a history of invoking
reactions from the public. The advertisement does not require much analysis to cause offense to the
general viewer. American Apparel crosses the line in more ways than one. However, the
advertisement I chose was rather tame in comparison to many others I considered.... Show more

Buddhist Buddhism And Food Of Buddhism
Buddhist Vegetarianism and Foods
In China, Buddhism is an ancient religion with numerous followers. Vegetarians are generally
regarded as Buddhists because people know that Buddhism is a religion that prohibits eating meat.
Buddhism originated in ancient India, which found by a prince of realm called Gautama Buddha in
three thousand years ago. (Henry, 2012) It spread to China in the Western Han Dynasty. It not only
brought a new religion for China, but also had a profound impact on the vegetarian culture at that
time. We will describe the relationship between the Buddhism and its vegetarian culture through
food varieties of vegetarian diet, dishes, and the benefits to the human body.
Food varieties of Buddhist Vegetarianism
Buddhists mainly eat grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. A lot of people have
stereotype of Buddhist, which monks do not eat meat because it is considered breaking no killing
rule. However, that is not entirely true. Buddhism does not forbid its followers to eat meat at the
beginning. Moreover, there are many different stringent requirements for whether or what kind of
meat Buddhists can eat depend on different sects of Buddhism. Thus, Buddhism does not have a
uniform standard diet.
Views of different Religious Sect
Due to descendants different understanding and interpretation of the Dharma, the teachings,
doctrines has to be made to adapt the new environment. Buddhists who believe in different ideas

Workaholics
INTRODUCTION
Why did I choose to write about workaholics? The main reason is that the general picture about
these people is bad, but there are a lot of them around us and very often we admire them. They are
doing exactly what they love В– work В– and they can never have enough of it. Although they
spend most of their time working, surprisingly they are happy. They show so good results in what
they do. But the consequences are great. Family life is disrupted, intellectual horizons narrow and
the consequences to the workaholic s health are severe: fat, lack of exercise and stress. Why do
people become workaholics? When a person becomes workaholic is there a way back? How
should people around him act in order to keep both him and themselves ... Show more content on

When somebody has a day off because he is sick, a workaholic would say that he is magnifying
the problem just not to work. They show little interest and great intolerance for the personal
lives of the co workers. They might say, How s the family? but they will not pay attention to the
answer. They don t show any personal interest about their co workers except if it s something
related to their needs or demands. Marilyn Machlowitz in her Workaholics book tells us about
one case like this. The secretary after five years at work decided that she wants to change her
glasses, and use lens instead. When at work, her workaholic boss noticed that she doesn t have
the glasses and said How are you going to type for me without your glasses? . Workaholics work
according to their and only to their schedules, and get really neurotic when they can not work by
their schedule because of other people [usually because the others didn t do what they were
expected by the workaholic].
HOW DO WORKAHOLICS ACT HOME?
It s not easy to say how workaholics act home, as they don t spend much time in their homes. Often
they are just physically home, while they think of being at work. Lots of them have dictaphones to
record the ideas they come up with while they are at home and thinking about their jobs.
Workaholic parents want to spend quality time with their children some day . Some of them use
this moments while with their children to revise their work. For example

Apple has brought the standard of technology to an all time high, changing the way the world
interacts with each other through their industry leading products. Apple s main focus was to create
a user friendly product, which was demonstrated with the creation of Apple 1. This was Apple s
first computer circuit board and would go on to become the Macintosh computer. Co founders Steve
Jobsand Steve Wozniak created Apple s first circuit board in early March 1976, and then
unveiled it in April while attending the monthly homebrew computer club meeting. This
unveiling would be Apple s gateway to the future. Months later Wozniak wanted to focus on

Macintosh computer which is still one of Apple s number one products. The success of the
Macintosh gave Apple its fame and has since created its own line of mobile phones as well as its

China s Become A Global Superpower And Its Transformation...
I once regretted that I majored in Chinese Language and Literature. Even after completing my

research on the International Studies related to Chinaas a Ph.D. candidate. During my study in
China, I witnessed China s emergence as a global superpower and its transformation from a

and culture. The transformation was similar to my home country, Korea, but this time I was able to
witness it. China s growing foreign aidstarted to have a significant impact on the landscape of the
global development community and became a formidable alternative to existing Official
Development Assistant (ODA). A non OECD country, has become the center of controversies
with its foreign aid policies. I was intrigued with this phenomenon and encountered a question:
How do developed countries (traditional donors) and developing countries (development aid
recipients) work with China to enhance positive developments and minimize frictions? In the
pursuit of solution to my question, I enrolled the second Master s degree in Public Policy at KDI

How To Protect Your Portfolio
Over the last few sessions, the S P 500 (^GSPC) dropped more that 3%, causing some panic among
investors who are wondering whether this is the beginning of a bear market.
Conversing with fellow investors over the last few days, I often discouraged an extremist approach
to investments, i.e. holding uncompromising views of a security s rise or fall. Instead, I promote a
more evolved approach that takes into account all the circumstances (including risks), and then
decides whether the security truly represents an investment worthy candidate. In doing so, an
investor prepares himself for different outcomes, which helps him manage his risk more effectively.
Not only is it important to generate gains but also to protect them. In view of these fears, I decided
to pen this piece to discuss a few ways that would help investors cope with market uncertainties.
While here are numerous ways to approach this, some of the most common include buying
protection in form of put options or inverse exchange traded fund (ETF).
The notion of purchasing protection is usually triggered by fear of one or more negative
developments over the short term that will adversely impact your portfolio. To begin with, it is
important to recognize the fear for which you are considering the purchase of protection: Are you
fearful of a short term volatility in the market? Are you expecting a correction in a stock s price?
Stock related fears
This is perhaps the greatest fear of a retail investor, who often

Diversity Of Diversity At The Workplace
In this week s integrated article, review, I am focusing on diversity at the workplace. This is a
topic very relevant and important for any organizations success. Diversity at the workplace refers to
any characteristic that makes people different from one another.
Today s workforce is a diverse mix in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, generational attitudes. It is
important for an organization to adopt diversity management practices to bring this diverse mix
together into a stable productive unit.
The marketplace is more global driven by advances in communication and technology. For many
organizations, managing diversity at the work place is an integral part of their culture.
Management of diversity makes every employee sensitive to the needs and differences of others. In

Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep
Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person
s overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend
sleeping is limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping
behaviors to maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a
week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am
getting. Based on my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of
caffeine I intake and the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time
needed for me to fall asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was
less busy and able to get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up
and trouble falling asleep have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an
average of about nine hours of sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night
is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a
night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have
experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt. When this occurs, I usually try to make up
for it by sleeping in on the weekends rather than napping. I have found that taking naps isn t an
effective way for me to reduce my sleep debt because I

Cell Phones And Their Effects On Children
They have come in and taken over our society, they have taken children away from their parents
and turned them into drones. These horrible devices are cell phones. The worst part though is
when children lose these devices we expect they perhaps will do something healthy or active, but
honestly they merely devote themselves to reuniting with their phones. Teenagers won t sleep
until they have it back their hands. I would understand after all, I am one of those teenagers
consumed by my phone. Once, I misplaced it, and spent the next two hours of my life focused
solely on locating my phone, that is how precious it is to me. It started one afternoon when I
was riding my bike with my friends and I had just popped a fresh piece of gum in my mouth. As
the fresh mint swirled around in my mouth, I recalled that my mom needed me home by 4:30
pm, so I reached in my pocket to check the time on my phone. I feel around, but nothing is there
except for some ancient pocket lint. I slammed on my breaks and immediately assumed the
worse. I lost it in a gutter somewhere, so I retraced my steps to the nearest opening in the gutter.
As I bent down to peer into the storm sewer it smelled like someone had thrown up on a dead
squirrel. No phone in the gutter, so before long I assumed that one of my friends had stolen it
from me. I began yelling and acting like it wasn t a playful joke anymore, but none of them had it.
I biked home like Speedy Gonzalez, and sprinted to my room, tearing

He knocks her over, and a hunter comes to help her up. Even though the hunter is helpful, he is
somewhat threatening. He then drops a nickel in which Phoenix picks it up without him
noticing. Then he points a gun at her, and she stood straight and faced him when he did so.
When he asked if she was afraid of the gun, she replied, No, sir, I seen plenty go off closer by, in
my day, and for less than what I done (DiYanni). The hunter even replied that she is scared of
nothing, and she goes on her way. Her perception of these obstacles emphasizes her intense
physical, mental, and moral effort to complete this journey (Heller). Phoenix is brave physically
because she had to climb over logs, through thorn bushes, and a barbed wire fence. She is brave
mentally, because she can stay calm while in stressful situations like having a gun pointed to her
face. She really cares about her grandson, and that motivates her to stay strong for him and to make

Arctic Tundra Research Paper
The Arctic Tundra
The Arctic formally encompasses all of the Earth s land and ocean areas north of the Arctic
Circle, but the Arctic region describes a larger area with linked ecosystems and similar ecological
challenges (Gale Encyclopedia). The arctic tundra has one of the coldest and longest winters and a
very short summer, but event then there is only a brief period of time where the sun shines and the
temperatures are mild. The arctic tundra is home to few different species and organisms because
the temperatures cause issues for organisms that need to maintain a certain body temperature. A
few of the organisms in the Arctic tundra are penguins, Polar bears, fox, and different species of
birds, as well as caribou, wolves, and grizzly bears. The Arctic Tundra forces many species to fight
for survival and adapt to the environment but these adaptations cause changes to the environment
and the other species living in it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The legs, effectively used as oars, are set wide apart and connect rather far back to the long and
rounded body. Short, glossy feathers cover its body to form a dense, fur like covering, which is
waterproof and helps keep the bird warm (Gale Encyclopedia). Penguins eat many types of fish,
krill, and plankton, which helps to keep the water less polluted by algae and prevent deadly red
tides. Penguins adapted to the need for food and the lack of it in the Arctic. By having hunting
and mating seasons, where the females lay eggs and give them to the men to watch over and
protect before it hatches, while the women go and hunt in search of food for the men and the baby,
penguins have created a system to survive the cold and harsh winter weather. Penguins have
evolved into creatures that are protected from the cold by their own fur and can move around by
sliding on their bellies since they cannot fly. Without being able to fly penguins are vulnerable to

Landslide Limousines Performance Management Framework
Landslide Limousines Performance Management Framework
HRM/531
February 23, 2015
Pamela Jones
A strategic performance management framework is very essential for the success of our client,
Bradley Stonefield of Landslide Limousine. It is imperative to explore the characteristics for a
performance management framework. For us to create an efficient, successful performance
management framework, we must incorporate the four levels of training assessment in developing
a comprehensive job analysis. The recommendations for a performance management framework are
also aligned to the organizational business strategy as identified by Mr. Stonefield. As... Show more

Positive job responsible parties employees will influence their level of ethical job performance,
such that employees with more positive job responses will engage in higher levels of ethical job

drivers are unsupervised and interact directly with clientele, it is of paramount importance that
drivers display professional attitudes and exemplary customer service. To aid better attitude and
exemplary job performance, it is recommended that a philosophy of autonomy and free will is
incorporated into the job narrative for drivers and dispatch. Studies show that when employees
leave that there is an element of free will in their work, they perform better and demonstrate better
workplace behavior (Stillman, 2010). Specifically, research has concluded that belief in free will
facilitates control behavior and buffers against impulsive action, which, in turn, translates to better
job performance (Stillman, 2010, p. 48). Therefore, by incorporating a philosophy of autonomy into
employee expectations and job analysis, Landslide Limousines will increase the positive
performance of employees.

George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader Essay
George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader
George Bush and Niccolo Machiavelli are two very influential political figures that share some
similar ideals. Machiavelli s work was never intended to be applied to republics, or a democratic
government. The advice written in The Prince would have likely been applied in the time of
absolute government, when countries were ruled by one leader. It is a work which, as Machiavelli
himself says that his philosophy is only applied to principalities, or what we call dictatorships in
modern times.
Elected from the state of Texas, George Bushis a strictly right winged conservative. When he was
governor, Bush showed no clemency for the death row inmates which resulted in a record number of

And in case you missed the message, Russia has also agreed to supply advanced surface to air

Presently, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, India, and China have or can
develop devastating nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs can cause unfathomable destruction of land
and people. North Korea and Iran, the two very radical countries appear to be on the verge of
making nuclear bombs. Mr. Bush on his recent trip to Europe tried to rally support from major
leaders to stop selling nuclear material and secrets to these two states. His opposition of nuclear
energy in the hands of dictators is for the common good of America and other countries. It may
not be fair or equitable to keep the nuclear energy away from a certain group or state, but the result
is focused mainly on the security for the rest of the world.
Machiavelli also wrote how to govern dominions that are being occupied by people that live under
their own laws and values. His first edict reflects the Bush Administration s actions and decisions
on how to spread democracy in Iraq:
When those states which have been acquired are accustomed to live at liberty under their own
laws, there are three ways of holding them. The first is to despoil them; the second is to go and
live there in person; the third is to

Utopia By Thomas More s Utopia
In Thomas More s Utopia, the character Thomas More writes a letter to Peter Giles of this island
nation Raphael told him about called Utopia. At this point Thomas more is in Denmark (?) making
negotiations when he meets Raphael who introduces him to the thought and place of Utopia. More
heard that it is a wonderful place ruled entirely by logic, but in the end he tells Peter Giles that he
does not know how well that would actually work. In Utopia, everything is perfect because the
Utopians use logic or emotion. Utopia is run by logic. The Utopians get a lot done in a small
amount of time because everything is done through logic, there are no feelings involved
whatsoever. Englandis the exact opposite of Utopia. In England, there are a lot of social issues
because everything is run by feeling. While the English do use logic in some of their choices, a
lot of their choices are often made by what feels right at the time. Utopia, as More describes it,
would not be possible in his time because of Utopia lives by logic especially in the religious,
judicial, and political systems while England runs by first feeling, then tradition, then law, and
then logic. In Utopia, the religious system is very open to everybody. Because Utopia is run by
logic and everybody just kind of minds their own business, people can believe what they wantto
believe. A Utopian can believe in anything from Catholicism all the way to Scientology. In England,
this is much more difficult. There is no

Mending wall, the wallis separating him and his neighbor; in Tear down this Wall, the wall is
separating east side and west side. Is separation a good thing?
body 1 Both Mending Wall and Tear Down This Wall deal with theme of separation. In Mending
Wall, the wall physically separated two neighbors. Every winter the wall is torn down by nature,
yet come spring time the wall is to be built back up. The two neighbors come together every year
and wear their fingers rough. While in Tear Down This Wall the Berlin Wall symbolizes separation
of East and West. They both have to deal with separation
body 2 Both text impact physical and emotionally to people, countries, and civilizations. In Robert

The Influence Of The Age Of Enlightenment
Gabit Gabdullin
Age of Enlightenment: intellectuals that changed the Europe s way of thinking. Intro
The Age of Enlightenment is one of the turning points in the human history, which affected the
economy, politics and social order throughout the world. Period of Enlightenment is vividly
bounded in the late XVII century up to the end of XVIII century. Main purpose of the
Enlightenment time s intellectuals was to affect and transform the society in which they lived, by
challenging traditions by the science and scientific methods. Indisputably, we could claim that
period of the Enlightenment was an unrepeatable progress of the human thinking. Major reason is
that, intellectuals in the period of the Enlightenment were neglecting and skeptical ... Show more

Hutcheson s main importance was in his ideas of human nature that includes care of other people
and their moral sense. Hutcheson s ideas were mostly derived from John Locke, and deeply
influenced significant intellectual thinkers such as David Hume and Adam Smith. Hutcheson s
notion of the moral sense is the most important thing in his ethical system, meaning human s
response on the way of action and affection, supporting that are virtuous, and criticizing that are
vicious. Another virtue of the Hutcheson as a philosopher is that he is thought to be a person who
was the earliest to write about aesthetics. Particularly some of his works were devoted to that

United Latin American Citizens
1.Discuss the origin and agenda of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)?
The League of United Latin American Citizens was formed in 1929 in the city of Corpus Christi,
Texas. This league was formed by representatives of three different organizations such as; the
League of Latin American Citizens, the Knights of America, and the Sons of America. Then they
adopted a constitution that pointed out the goals they had for the middle class in political,
economic, and social rights. The organizations mission was to Make Living Conditions Better for
Future Generations of Mexican Americans (Mier/Ribera 201). From there on they began to push
for civil rights as well as education and employment for Mexican Americans. LULAC also wanted

after that, 23 Mexican American teens were young adults were arrested along with on Anglo for
participating in the fight that killed Diaz. These youths were charged with first degree murder,
second degree murder, and assault. One tension that caused the zoot suits riots was because Los

mounting fast and that is when these zoot suit riots began to happen more often.
3.Discuss the Bracero program and the phases of the program?
The Bracero Program was created in 1943 during World War II by the Mexican and United States
governments. This program allowed Mexican citizens to have a temporary labor permit that
allowed them to work in the United States legally. Mexican citizens were allowed to come to the
United States legally and work for some time and get paid, the money they earned they could take
back to Mexico when the journey was over. The program allowed about 200,000
Mexicans(Braceros) to work in 21 different states with California housing about half the braceros.

Bend It Like Beckham Belonging Analysis
Belonging is often referred to as acceptance and interconnection within social, cultural, historical
and personal contexts of the wider community. This makes an individual feel comfortable and
content to live among similar people. This is explored in the film Bend it like Beckham by Gurinda
Chaddah, where Jess the protagonist is torn with two different cultures, traditional Indian sikh
culture and modern western culture that alters her sense of belonging over time. Similarly, in the
novel, Who am I by Anita Heiss, Mary is stuck between two different cultures, an aboriginal culture
and modern white culture which creates a conflict in her mind about her real identity and a sense of
belonging.
Firstly, Physical closeness helps individuals to depict their love and increasing comfort zone
towards each other, thus strengthening their sense of belonging. This is represented through the use
of different types of music such as in the goodbye scene where Jess is hugging Joe, that time

prices appear to be somehow similar. Initially, the Xbox One with Kinect was retailed for $500;
however, they launched a Kinect free version of the Xbox One for $400. Later on, they launched

The Pros And Cons Of The Magna Carta
One might have hoped that the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta would have
provided at least some oxygen to the argument that Bad King John was perhaps not too Bad after
all; and whisper it that in some ways this traditionally most maligned of monarchs was perhaps
really rather Good.
Instead, the anticipated tsunami of popular and learned articles collectively assert, inter alia, that
John was at once cruel and coercive, treacherous and tyrannical, pusillanimous and pitiful, lazy and
lackluster. For the large part it seems that, 800 years later, opinion has broadly backed Matthew
Paris, the 13th century chronicler who alleged that John s greatest achievement was, by dying, to
make yet more foul the existing foulness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Magna Carta of 1215 (it is important to realise that there were many reissues of Magna Carta
after the reign of John, each different to the one presented to John) is better understood as a set of
flawed peace terms designed to heal the incipient civil war between John and an element of
rebellious barons.
In order to try and bind John to their terms, the barons insisted that John accept a committee of 25
of their number empowered to police and enforce Magna Carta by seizing John s castles and assets
when he was judged by them, and against criteria put forth by them to have transgressed.
No medieval monarch could have accepted for any length of time the Magna Carta of 1215, for
it clearly rendered the king a phantom of a monarch. Indeed, so extreme was this impact that it is
not beyond sensible contemplation that the ambition of the rebel barons was not to obtain a
lasting peace, but instead absolutely to provoke John to break the newly agreed terms so that they
could seize his largesse. John did indeed overturn Magna Carta, but arguably any medieval
monarch would have done the same. The Magna Carta of 1215 is not the Magna Carta of popular

  • 2. Condoleezza Rice Essay Condoleezza Rice Not many people can add the position of National Security Advisor to their list of achievements, especially if those people are women. Condoleezza Rice, however, can place the accomplishment right up there with being a previous member of President Bush s foreign policy team, and tenured professor and provost in the political science department of the prestigious Stanford University. Rice is well known for her knowledge on Russian history and current events. America will find that she is a wise person, and I m honored [she joined] the administration . Rice also shows strong opinions concerning what it means to be American, and how America fits within the realm of the rest of the world. Power matters. But there can be no absence of moral content in American foreign policy, and furthermore, the American people wouldn t accept such an absence. Europeans giggle at this and say we re naive and so on, but we re not Europeans, we re Americans and we have different principles . Rice considers herself completely Republican in all issues. With regards to foreign policy, she sees herself as conservative. On other issues, however, she views herself as libertarian and moderate. • 3. Theme Of Irony In Othello Irony is the literary technique used and plays a great role in Othello. The most sinister and threatening character is Iago, and therefore he creates tension and combat in the play. The use of irony in Iago s monologues are what stimulates the action in the plot and intensifies it for the audience, characters, and the readers. It also gives insight to Iagos true intentions and character. Iago uses ironyin this way as a sport, and for his own personal happiness. Iago has a reputation for honesty, consistency, and straightforward speaking. Othelloand others in the play refer to him as honest Iago , although this is juxtaposed with Iago s manipulation towards people around him. Cassio was promoted to Othello s lieutenant instead of Iago, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dramatic irony helped to build interest in the play, as only Iago and the audience know about his plan, while the rest of the characters are manipulated. The audience is left wondering if anyone will figure out Iago s deceiving plan before a tragic ending occurs. Consequently, the audience s emotions are highly invested in the play, as we know Desdemona is innocent, and does not deserve the doubt against her. The dramatic irony in the play is the most jealous resentments over offenses that only Iago planted the seeds of, which creates the tragic events of the play. On the other hand, verbal irony is used by Iago through his contradictory words which suggests the opposite of his true identity. Iago speaks carefully and at length with Othello, and uses his words wisely. He is then easily able to manipulate any character in front of him and plants suspicion and jealousy throughout the play. In the end, Iago uses his mendacious traits to raise the tragic flaw of character in Othello. Shakespeare creates Iago as the process to the end of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Effects Of Physical Inactivity On Human Body Background Its widely known that physical inactivity has enormous negative health effects. Poor cardio respiratory fitness, adiposity, impaired glucose toler ance, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis are independent threats to health and that physical inactivity increases the risk for premature death (Lars). The negative health effects of physical inactivity are numerous. Examples are high blood pressure, increased risk of diabetes, increased stress and depression, and shorter life expectancy. It is clear that not being physically active takes a large toll on the human body. There are many different ways that an individual can turn their life around. Anything from going for a walk or going from a 5 mile run will make a lasting effect. Some people take exercise to the extreme and use high intensity training. During intense exercise the body gets pushed to its limits. The cardiovascular system is one that is pushed to its bounds. While at rest the heart is beating at about 70 beats per minute. During vigorous exercise, the heart rate increases dramatically. The general rule to find the maximum heart rate is taking 206.9 (0.67 x age) (Waehner). For an average 20 year old, that is about 194 beats per minute which is over double the heart at rest. The increase in heart rate is because it is doing everything it can to push blood to the muscles during that time. The muscles demand 50% of the blood flow during intensive exercise, whereas they only demand 10% while at rest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a Leadership Seminar this week, Mr. Skinner learned of the new Agile Methodology for improving the flexibility of the organization and shortening the release cycle of the product. Immediately feeling that this was the answer to the problems within his organization, Mr. Skinner hired external consultants and began to introduce the new methodology. The After The principles of the new Agile Methodology emphasize breaking up the traditional long term software development cycle into several smaller iterations (or releases) of the product within short timeframes. (Douglas Tech Trends, Inc., 2006) These principles spoke to me on a very fundamental level, said Skinner. Realizing that the change in methodology would help his organization to better meet the organizational goals for Blue Cloud s development as well as propel them strategically ahead of their competition, Mr. Skinner hired a group of external experts in the Agile Methodology to get the process going. The current development structure at Blue Cloud was a traditional development environment, so Mr. Skinner set up a meeting with the organization to introduce them to the new methodology. • 7. Reasons For The Fall Of The Roman Empire The Roman Empire had existed as a powerful force for over 1000 years. The Romans brought prosperity, order, technological advances, and advanced military to the West. The empire which was thought to run for several centuries would only be seen in the waning years as a Golden Age Empire which could not hold itself in the end. The Roman Empirefell due to several reasons. Some reasons of why Rome fell was due to Insubstantial Military, Economic Decrease, The Huns, Barbarian Tribes, Full power of the Emperor, and Rise of The East Empire. An Empire which was taught to had mastered its civilization had no way to let it s own people be the cause of one the most renowned empires. How indeed did this mighty empire fall? The Roman Empire fell due to many reasons and one of the main reasons due to why it collapsed was due to insubstantial military. Insubstantial military was mainly caused by financial issues. The government had not enough money to pay militants to work for their army. Many soldiers did not receive their salary by cash as the state deducted food and clothing tax from their pay. To this decision, a legionary on active campaign would hope to add the booty of war , from the bodies of their enemies and as plunder from enemy settlements. Slaves could also be claimed from the prisoners of war and divided amongst the legion for later sale, which would bring in a sizeable supplement to their regular pay. • 8. The Rise Of Asian Civilizations Do you feel that Asian Civilizations from 1500 to 1700 veered towards modernity or careened back toward traditional culture? From the 16th to 18th century, the prominent Asian Civilizations were the Mughal Empire, the Ming Dynasty of China and the Edo Period of Japan. There was an obvious trend that these empires leaned toward traditional culture mainly because of political influences. Although there were also several aspects of each society such as the more important role of women in the Mughal Empire, the interactions of the Jesuits with Chinaand Japan that might be indicative of modernity or act as a precursor to modern values, the reversion of traditional culture in each civilization is so much greater that it outweighed the... For example, farming lands were reclaimed, campaigns of reforestation were initiated, roads and canals were paved and dug, and irrigation and flood prevention measures were constructed. Instead of focusing on trading and commercialism like their previous Mongolian rulers, the Ming reverted back to the traditional Chinese agrarian society. At around the 16th Century, the Edo Period began in Japan, marked by the ruling of the Tokugawa Ieyasu over Daimyos, or feudal lords. Because of his military strength, the Shogun was able to help restore the Imperial rule to its former glory by granting lands to the royal family and creating a system that emulates tradition, installing the Emperor as the head of Japan, when in reality it is but a figurehead. However, at least it is ceremonially important and is considered upholding of traditional values. The Shogun also banned Japanese from traveling abroad as well as completely isolating Japan from the rest of the world after several disputes with Europeans and their Jesuits. This is why Japan remained largely uninfluenced by modern Western Ideals until the 18th century. Another noteworthy example of traditionalism in these civilizations is the presence of a strong caste system within their society. In the Mughal Empire, the caste system of the Indians which make up the most of the population was still in effect at that time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was made challenging by the fact that the fins, which needed to be rounded, were very thin or very curved which caused possible miss sanding of the fins. Along with this, I came across a point in which I could decide between two ways of constructing the rocket. • 10. The Roles Of Women In Ancient Greece, Rome, And Egypt s history runs its course, there are certain topics that are always addressed such as religion, politics, and societal structure. Also brought up is the role of women. During all periods of the world, women are given their own category due to being treated differently than the men. Comparing the women of ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt reveals the vast differences of people s views of women and the disappointing similarities of being unjustly judged based on their gender. Each of these cultures puts their women into positions that are degrade the skills of females, some more than others, and create the societal barriers for women that last for many years after ancient times. A telling sign of how each culture views their women is in the stories of their creation. The Romans, Egyptians, and Greeks all had their own theories as to how humans were put on Earth. The Egyptians had three different creation myths, all with different characteristics. The myth including Nun and Ptah do not include women, but they also do not identify that it was men created first. These describe the creation of society, not a society of men that was created and then women added along the way. The other creation myth from Egypt includes the frog headed gods and snake headed goddesses such as Kek, Kauket; Heh, Hauhet. Women were integrated into the formation of the culture which exhibits the view of women in Egypt. They were not an afterthought. Contrasting this ideal is the creation ... • 11. The Function Of A Memory The capacity to form memory in face of stressful stimuli is an essential adaptive behaviour that enables organisms to respond rapidly and effectively to similar demands1. The stress response is largely mediated by the hypothalamic pituitary adrenocortical axis (HPA) coupled with the release of catecholamines through adrenergic neural discharges1. These physiological mechanisms activate downstream pathways that stimulate metabotropic alterations in neural networks, resulting in long term memoryformation1. In animals and humans, stress mediated neuroendocrine responses enhance the consolidation of emotional memories2. However, exposure to traumatic or chronic stress can result in memory impairments as well as memory related psychopathologies such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) 1. Noradrenergic mechanisms are largely implicated in the mediation of emotional memory consolidation1. Therefore, the disruption of this mechanism during periods when memories are in a molecularly labile state has been proposed as a clinical method of pharmacologic modification of intolerable memories in psychiatric patients3. The application of ОІ adrenergic receptorantagonists during periods of memory reconsolidation is a possible novel mechanism of emotional memory modification in patients with memory related psychopathologies4. In this paper, the influence of the noradrenergic receptor antagonists, propranolol, on stress mediated memory reconsolidation will be characterized. Similarly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ANALYSIS The management system at CFS has, till now, been an unprofessional work environment with a most casual and unconcerned stance towards its employees immoral ways. The employees, mostly fresher s, are devoid of any previous experience of a workplace, causing them to adopt their own set of rules and regulations on being introduced into such a careless work scenario. Added to that is the low paying job, subject to growth by a mere 15% after promotion, along with the pressures of long working hours and overnight shifts is tempting them towards ulterior means. The unchecked ways of these newbies has led to a lot of loss to the Devil s Den, both in financial terms as well as in terms of its reputation before customers who too are taking advantage of the situation. This informal attitude of employees has led to an unprecedented state of affairs wherein Susan needs to step in and take a stance between her moral beliefs and gains of a more personal nature. She needs to analyze the pros and cons of each dilemma that she faces. As the student management is not willing to take action on this matter, Susan could, abiding by her values, approach the co workers and demand that this immoral activity be stopped. One side of the spectrum embodies the ideals of brotherhood, collective being, and addresses the social and political aspects affecting the people of society as Kanye explained formerly as spoken word. The other side demands the artist to live through the art of self gratification by any means necessary or as Kanye put it, being able to buy 80 gold chains and go ig nant. One that advances, changes after some time, and acclimates to fit the present state of affairs, without being authoritatively amended. It can be revised; however, the change procedure is exceptionally troublesome. The most imperative changes were added to the Constitutionright around a century and a half back, in the wake of the Civil War, and since that time a large portion of the revisions have managed generally minor matters. In the interim, the world has changed in boundless ways. The country has developed in domain and its populace has duplicated a few times over. Innovation has changed, the worldwide status quo has changed, the economy has changed, social norms have transformed, all in ways that nobody could have anticipated when the Constitution was conscripted. Also, it is simply not reasonable to expect the unwieldy amendment process to remain cognizant of these progressions. Consequently, it appears to be unavoidable that the Constitution will change, as well. It is something to be thankful for, in light of the fact that a perpetual Constitution would not positively impact and aid the general public. It is possible that it would disregard or, more terrible, it would be a block, a relic that keeps us from launching new dimensions and hinders our forward mobility. What Are The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capital number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of men and 12% of women). America s pervasive gun culture stems in part from its colonial history, revolutionary roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Proponents of more gun control laws state that the Second Amendment was intended for militias; that gun violence would be reduced; that gun restrictions have always existed; and that a majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun restrictions. Pros:High capacity magazines should be banned because they too often turn murder into mass murder. A Mother Jones investigation found that high capacity magazines were used in at least 50% of the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012. [7] When high capacity magazines were used in mass shootings, the death rate rose 63% and the injury rate rose 156%. David H. The UNIX operating system is a set of programs that act as a link between the computer and the user. The computer programs that allocate the system resources and coordinate all the details of the computer s internals is called the operating system or kernel. Users communicate with the kernel through a program known as the shell. The shell is a command line interpreter it translates commands entered by the user and converts them into a language that is understood by the kernel. UNIX was originally developed in 1969 by a group of AT T employees at Bell Labs, including Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, Douglas McIlroy, and Joe Ossanna. There are various UNIX variants available in the market. Solaris UNIX, AIX, HP UNIX and BSD are few examples. Several people can use a UNIX computer at the same time; hence UNIX is called a multiuser system. A user can also run multiple programs at the same time; hence UNIX is called multitasking. This is why BSNL uses UNIX operating system as the exchanges can be operated through a remote area. UNIX operating system provides various commands to operate embedded systems in C DOT DSS MAX. The result of such studies helps managers to determine strategy, deploy resources, operate firms, manage relationships with their markets, and measure results, (Rayport Jaworski, 2003, p.2). Income is taxed in the country where that income originates, irrespective of the legal or physical residence of the recipient. Even though South Africa Adopted the residence based system in 2011, many states will still tax the income derived by a person from commercial activities undertaken in their states. A source based system of tax imposes a taxation liability on income arising within a specific jurisdiction or territory. From the Appellate Division of Kerguelen Sealing Whaling Co., Ltd v CIR ЛЎ, the fundamental logic of a residence based tax system has been contrasted to that of a source based system in the following: In some countries residence (or domicile) is made the test of liability for the reason, presumably, that residents, for the privilege and protection of residence, can justly be called upon to contribute towards the cost of good order and government of the country that shelters him. In others (as in ours) the principle of liability adopted is source of income : again, presumably, the equity of the levy rests on the assumption that a country that produces wealth by reason of its natural resources or the activities of its inhabitants is entitled to a share of that wealth, wherever the recipients of it may be live. In both systems there is, of course, the assumption that the country adopting the one or the other has effective means to enforce the levy. For tax purposes, it is important to know how ... They don t show any personal interest about their co workers except if it s something related to their needs or demands. Marilyn Machlowitz in her Workaholics book tells us about one case like this. The secretary after five years at work decided that she wants to change her glasses, and use lens instead. How To Protect Your Portfolio Over the last few sessions, the S P 500 (^GSPC) dropped more that 3%, causing some panic among investors who are wondering whether this is the beginning of a bear market. Conversing with fellow investors over the last few days, I often discouraged an extremist approach to investments, i.e. holding uncompromising views of a security s rise or fall. Instead, I promote a more evolved approach that takes into account all the circumstances (including risks), and then decides whether the security truly represents an investment worthy candidate. In doing so, an investor prepares himself for different outcomes, which helps him manage his risk more effectively. Not only is it important to generate gains but also to protect them. In view of these fears, I decided to pen this piece to discuss a few ways that would help investors cope with market uncertainties. While here are numerous ways to approach this, some of the most common include buying protection in form of put options or inverse exchange traded fund (ETF). The notion of purchasing protection is usually triggered by fear of one or more negative developments over the short term that will adversely impact your portfolio. To begin with, it is important to recognize the fear for which you are considering the purchase of protection: Are you fearful of a short term volatility in the market? Are you expecting a correction in a stock s price? Stock related fears This is perhaps the greatest fear of a retail investor, who often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is important for an organization to adopt diversity management practices to bring this diverse mix together into a stable productive unit. The marketplace is more global driven by advances in communication and technology. For many organizations, managing diversity at the work place is an integral part of their culture. Management of diversity makes every employee sensitive to the needs and differences of others. In the first article, Diversity management practices do they make a difference 1 a study was conducted on diversity management practices adopted by local governments in recruiting, hiring and retaining a diverse workforce. • 42. Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person s overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt. When this occurs, I usually try to make up for it by sleeping in on the weekends rather than napping. I have found that taking naps isn t an effective way for me to reduce my sleep debt because I ... These horrible devices are cell phones. The worst part though is when children lose these devices we expect they perhaps will do something healthy or active, but honestly they merely devote themselves to reuniting with their phones. Teenagers won t sleep until they have it back their hands. I would understand after all, I am one of those teenagers consumed by my phone. Once, I misplaced it, and spent the next two hours of my life focused solely on locating my phone, that is how precious it is to me. It started one afternoon when I was riding my bike with my friends and I had just popped a fresh piece of gum in my mouth. As the fresh mint swirled around in my mouth, I recalled that my mom needed me home by 4:30 pm, so I reached in my pocket to check the time on my phone. I feel around, but nothing is there except for some ancient pocket lint. I slammed on my breaks and immediately assumed the worse. I lost it in a gutter somewhere, so I retraced my steps to the nearest opening in the gutter. As I bent down to peer into the storm sewer it smelled like someone had thrown up on a dead squirrel. No phone in the gutter, so before long I assumed that one of my friends had stolen it from me. I began yelling and acting like it wasn t a playful joke anymore, but none of them had it. To aid better attitude and exemplary job performance, it is recommended that a philosophy of autonomy and free will is incorporated into the job narrative for drivers and dispatch. Studies show that when employees leave that there is an element of free will in their work, they perform better and demonstrate better workplace behavior (Stillman, 2010). • 48. Utopia By Thomas More s Utopia In Thomas More s Utopia, the character Thomas More writes a letter to Peter Giles of this island nation Raphael told him about called Utopia. At this point Thomas more is in Denmark (?) making negotiations when he meets Raphael who introduces him to the thought and place of Utopia. More heard that it is a wonderful place ruled entirely by logic, but in the end he tells Peter Giles that he does not know how well that would actually work. In Utopia, everything is perfect because the Utopians use logic or emotion. Utopia is run by logic. The Utopians get a lot done in a small amount of time because everything is done through logic, there are no feelings involved whatsoever. Englandis the exact opposite of Utopia. In England, there are a lot of social issues because everything is run by feeling. While the English do use logic in some of their choices, a lot of their choices are often made by what feels right at the time. Utopia, as More describes it, would not be possible in his time because of Utopia lives by logic especially in the religious, judicial, and political systems while England runs by first feeling, then tradition, then law, and then logic. In Utopia, the religious system is very open to everybody. Because Utopia is run by logic and everybody just kind of minds their own business, people can believe what they wantto believe. Instead, the anticipated tsunami of popular and learned articles collectively assert, inter alia, that John was at once cruel and coercive, treacherous and tyrannical, pusillanimous and pitiful, lazy and lackluster. The Magna Carta of 1215 (it is important to realise that there were many reissues of Magna Carta after the reign of John, each different to the one presented to John) is better understood as a set of flawed peace terms designed to heal the incipient civil war between John and an element of rebellious barons. In order to try and bind John to their terms, the barons insisted that John accept a committee of 25 of their number empowered to police and enforce Magna Carta by seizing John s castles and assets when he was judged by them, and against criteria put forth by them to have transgressed. No medieval monarch could have accepted for any length of time the Magna Carta of 1215, for it clearly rendered the king a phantom of a monarch. Indeed, so extreme was this impact that it is not beyond sensible contemplation that the ambition of the rebel barons was not to obtain a lasting peace, but instead absolutely to provoke John to break the newly agreed terms so that they could seize his largesse.
