The Characteristics Of Jazz And Blues Langston Hughes s ...
The Characteristics of Jazz and Blues in Langston Hughes s The Weary Blues
While I was reading Langston Hughes s poems, I have noticed his outstanding accomplishment in his
blending creation of Negro musical characteristics and poetry. And The Weary Blues is his peaked
piece of a combination of both jazz and blues. The poem reflected American African s living situation
during the Harlem Renaissance, it sufficiently revealed the cultural charm of Negros and Hughes s
fully affirms of his national dignity.
In my paper, I will analyze the methods and techniques Hughes used to highlight the musical elements
in this poem. Jazz and blues are both styles of music which were discovered by Negros. They are
important to Hughes and his culture, and according to the sad and painful tunes in jazz and blues,
Hughes wanted us to listen and understand his culture from this poem. The Weary Blues has a rather
oral character style; the fundamental key is very slow and sentimental, but the poem is full of
musicality, and makes readers felt if they are staying on the scene. I felt not only the special pleasing
quality of Negro s ballad, but also felt depressed from Negro s circumstances during that time. So I
have decided to focus on the analysis of the structural, style of language, along with the jazzy and
blues characteristics in the image of theme. And apparently, I will use structuralism and a touch on
linguistics as my criticisms to argue my statement. In the external form structure of

Compare And Contrast The Waterfall And Agile Method Of...
1. Introduction For this paper, I will be comparing the Waterfall and Agile methods of software
development. The primary articles used for citations will be from Agile for millennials: a comparative
study and The Waterfall That Won t Go Away with supplementing citations from Hybrid Software and
System Development in Practice: Waterfall, Scrum, and Beyond. 2. Definition The Waterfall and Agile
methods are amongst some of the most popular methods of software development. The Waterfall
method is essentially a sequential approach for software development. At each stage of a project, the
all tasks and goals need to be completed before moving to the next stage with the goal of reducing
error. The first signs of the Waterfall method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both articles also suggest that education is avkey issue on the eventual adoption of the Agile and
hybrid methodologies. Chatterjee suggests that hybrid approaches need to be slowly introduced in the
workplace with the software development culture embracing the Agile method. Missiroli, Russo and
Ciancarini suggest education as the root approach to make this change. However, it is evident that
both methods are necessary. In fact, in the article Hybrid Software and System Development in
Practice: Waterfall, Scrum and Beyond , the hybrid Water Scrum Fall method is tested. The study
found that it is in fact a widely used practice, regardless of company size, industry and other external
practices. Although it is still being tested with a larger population, early conclusions suggest that the
hybrid method is the best approach (Kuhrmann, et al., 2017, pp. 30, 38 39). Therefore, each
organization should focus on education with both methods and adopt some level of a hybrid method.
The next question is if there is a formal development strategy that could be widely adopted or if both
methodologies should be assessed on a case by case basis and at different degree of granularity. 5.

Beatles Recording Techniques
This is a discussion of the Beatles songs, Love Me Do, Can t Buy Me Love, I Am A Walrus and
Tomorrow Never Knows. I will discuss how they are produced, what types of instruments I hear, any
recording techniques, how they treat the melody and if these songs have a singable tune. I had a hard
time knowing what instruments I heard, although I could identify some of them. I did not hear any of
these songs that sounded like an audio snapshot, they all sounded like they were recorded in a studio
setting with that being the intent. Love Me Do and Can t Buy Me Love sounded like a simple
recording, while the other two songs sounded more produced, the last song Tomorrow Never Knows
sounded the most produced. I could hear the drums in all the songs,

Imagine a peaceful paradise, where the heavenly ocean breeze and the glorious blue waves set the
mood for delighted sensations. This beautiful fantasy of a beach will perish, if humans continue to let
ocean pollution conquer Earth s alluring waters. Terrible things are deposited in our ocean including,
garbage, toxic waste, oil, sewage spills, and plastic waste. Every hour, 1.5 million pounds of garbage
are dumped into the ocean, killing 100,000 marine creatures due to plastic entanglement, poisoning,

The Relationship Between Art And Commerce
Historically, the relationship between art and commerce has been viewed as hierarchical. In this
hierarchy of power, commerce dominates art and negatively influences artistic and creative potential
of the art while art is viewed as a form of creative and cultural luxury that needs protection from
external corruption. This argument has been brought up continually in academia, all similarly
suggesting that there is something inherent in commerce and economics that undermines the purpose
and authenticity of art. Whether this be the classic Bourdieun analysis of for profit industries and their
negative influence on art culture or the modern day parent who views the popular music and culture of
her child s generation as absent of value, there is a consistent contention at the core of commerce and
arts relationship. While I undoubtedly agree that the politics of commerce and commercial activity has
an effect on art, I do not believe that art therein lacks value because it was produced by a commercial
entity or for profit. In this paper, I will argue that the contemporary relationship between art and
commerce is one in which commerce does not domineer art and art culture but rather preserves and
sustains it. Throughout the historical debate of this topic, many fallacies about the relationship
between art and commerce have presented themselves. One of the most common misconceptions
about this relationship is that commerce controls and debases art. Rather than a harmonious

Essay On Adi
Adi is one of the major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, in North East India. A typical Adi house is raised
on stilts. Every part of the Adi house has some specific name and each part has unique functional
significance. Different species of bamboo, palm, cane and timber formed the construction materials
for a traditional Adi house. Traditionally it is believed that the construction materials collected during
a particular period last long and are free from the attack of termites and other insects.
Key words: Adi tribe, traditional house, bamboo, cane, palm
Introduction
Adi people reside mostly in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya and they are one of the major tribes
of Arunachal Pradesh (Mandal et al. 2002). Out of the total 18 districts of the state Adi tribe live in six
districts, namely East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit and Upper
Subansiri (Modi 2007). Adi is divided into 14 sub tribes such as Ashing, Bori, Bokar, Karko, Komkar,

The shortest time that is taken to complete an Adi house is probably due to readily available
construction resources and the whole hearted community participation. The division of space in an Adi
house addresses the needs of a family from all aspects. The stilts provide much needed under space for
the purpose of storage of firewood and shelter for fowls and pig. The fire place is central to the Adi
house that provides the necessary warmth for the inner space. The heat and the smoke generated from
the fireplace also keep off the insects and other pests in the interior space and have a curing effect on
the construction materials and other stored things. The vertical space above the fire place is effectively
used by placing tiers of attics that efficiently utilizes the dissipating

What Does Voltaire Criticize Candide
While Voltaire has so far criticized war directly through depiction of war he often does it in a more
subtle manner. Candide and Cacambo arrive at Paraguay to fight for the Jesuits but are instead
disarmed and told to wait for the Commandant. Them a sergeant tells them that neither the
Commandant or reverend Father Provincial would talk to a Spaniard or allow one to Stay above three
hours in the province (Voltaire 33) Cacambo then tells the sergeant that Candide is German not a
Spaniard. The sergeant then goes and gets the reverend commandant who says God be praised. Since
he is a German, I may speak to him; take him to my arbour (Voltaire 33) The commandant only
accepts to speak to Candide because he now knows he is a German not a Spaniard. ... Show more

When Candide and Cacambo arrive at El Dorado they see children playing with gold and jewels and
then assume that those kids are royalty since they have the gold. The children leave the jewels and
gold on the floor and return to their school. Afterwards, Candide and Cacambo try returning what they
think is valuable jewels and gold but when they presented it the schoolmaster, smiling, flung them
upon the ground (Voltaire 41) The stupidity for wealth in the Old World is displayed because it shows
that the only reason the gold and other jewels has any real value is because people put intrinsic value
into is when it is worthless. As it is displayed that these precious gems and stones are no more than
rocks to play with to the people of El Dorado it shows the ideocracy of those in the Old World who
often fight and kill over these rocks. War... we owe to the fancy of two or three thousand persons
scattered over the globe under the name of princes and ministers (Voltaire against war 1) These
princes and ministers are those who start these wars which is mostly to obtain wealth and hence it
shows how war is in essence pointless since it is fought over the value of rocks which the princes and
ministers say is worth. Also while in El Dorado there is a very explicit criticism of war by the king of
El Dorado. The kingdom we now inhabit is the ancient country of the Incas, who quitted it very
imprudently to conquer another part of the world, and were at length destroyed by the Spaniards
(Voltaire 43) here the is speaking of how the greed of the Incas to go conquer other areas eventually
led to them being destroyed. This is a way of comparing war in the New and Old World in the New
world war is painted as a force that will eventually destroy

Flatfish Mimicry Research Paper
Mimicry of other toxic species Thaumoctopus mimicus is said to use imperfect mimicry, defined as
the using poor to decent imitations of multiple morphs, rather than strong resemblance to one species
(Hanlon et al., 2008; Huffard et al., 2010). As mentioned in the previous section, they replicate the
coloration of multiple forms of flatfish, but more dramatic morphs are displayed while individuals are
swimming in the mid water range of the water column or while interacting directly with aggressive
species (Norman et al., 2001). Following with the assumption that T. mimicus is a Batesian mimic, the
forms that individual octopus use while swimming higher in the water column are those of well
known toxic or unpalatable species. A variety of dive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2010) was more focused on the evolutionary development of flatfish mimicry and the relation of T.
mimicus to other individuals in the family Octopodidae. To determine the phylogenetic relationships
regarding flatfish mimicry, researchers analyzed the mitochondrial DNA of other individuals found in
what they referred to as the Long Armed Sand Octopus Guild . Researchers factored in a list of
attributes associated with the mimic octopus that are believed to result in the unique behaviors it
displays: dorsoventrally compressed (flatfish swimming), activity during daylight hours, high contrast
coloration. It had been the previous assumption that flatfish swimming was an exaptation of
cephalopod locomotion that the mimic octopus developed to be able to move easier after the evolution
of its impressively long arms (Huffard et al., 2010). However, genetic evidence showed that the
evolution of long arms and flatfish swimming most likely occurred simultaneously in T. mimicus,
rendering the previous assumption null and void (Huffard et al., 2010). Further phylogenetic analysis
suggests that the development of the mimic octopus s iconic high contrast banded coloration
developed as a secondary adaptation in order to further solidify its imitation of toxic flatfishes. The
phylogenetic tree compiled by Huffard et al. (2010) defines the long armed sand octopus guild to
include T. mimicus and its relatives Wunderpus photogenicus, the White V octopus, and Abdopus
acuelatus (Figure 4). The other species placed in this group demonstrate their own variations of
flatfish swimming during daytime foraging hours, however only T. mimicus and W. photogenicus
accompany this swimming style with high contrast coloration patterns while swimming without threat.
The other three species would only demonstrate this ability when

s character is one that alternates between the main character, the hero, soulless character, and the
hopeless protagonist. He takes on a devilish form and is perceived as evil incarnate, but at the same
time, Miyazaki maintains howl s character as one who is a victim of his own mistakes. Another
character, the young boy, disguises himself as an old healer. Although he is just a boy, he takes on the
role of a guardian of the castle, a wizard apprentice, and even a healer. The witch of the waste is at
first given the role of a villain but moves on to take on that of an old crippled woman. She is portrayed
as a heartless witch whose greed led her a path of darkness, but as her character develops, she too was

and unpredictable with remarkable character development. The character development through out the

Explain Paleey s Philosophical Position For The Existence...
Paley s philosophical position for the existence of a deity can be summarized by the following
statements. 1. Humans are made for a purpose. 2. If humans are made for a purpose, then there must
be a creator behind that purpose. 3. Therefore, there is a creator. (1, 2, 3 MP) His reasoning for this is
by comparing humans as a whole to a machine. Just like a watch, which has intricate parts that work
for a grander design of telling time, so too does the eye for seeing (Feldman, 1994). The watch, Paley
argues could not possibly have just came into being to fulfill the specific purpose which it presently
does. According to Feldman (1994), this still points to a creator who designed its purpose and knew of
its function. Even if it replicated itself

Identity In Joseph Boyden s Three Day Road
An individual s identity is an ever changing composition of a person s aspirations, beliefs and
morality. Identity change is often influenced by many aspects of an individual s life, but individuals
must always return to their roots in order to stay true to their morality. This internal struggle over one s
identity is successfully illustrated in the characters of Three Day Road. In the novel, Joseph Boyden
vividly recounts the journey of two Native Canadian soldiers, Xavier and Elijah, who struggle with
identity loss from the adversity of the Great War. Through their harrowing experiences from the
battlefield, they experience a dissipation of morals which is only recovered in Xavier, the sole

Elijah s tragic descent to madness forewarns the dangers of assuming an identity drastically different
from one s true morality. From the beginning, Elijah felt that there was a need to fit in with the other
soldiers by adopting a British persona when speaking to others. In a shared code with Grey Eyes,
Elijah says, Dear Henry, [...] would you be a kind chap and make me a cup of tea? (144). Although his
British accent appears to be a convoluted joke, Elijah is really abandoning his Cree language in favour
of a British accent to please his peers. Despite the native language being an essential part of his
childhood identity, Elijah succumbs to the white man s perceived notions of the Cree language being
related to witchcraft as he strips away his native language to fit in with the others. This sudden
transformation to match a white man s identity ultimately results in an identity crisis that drives him to
insanity. Xavier illustrates this when he notices that,

The Issue Of Personal Identity Essay
If persons persist over time then by what criteria do we determine their identity at different times?
This is the issue of personal identity over time which continues to plague philosophers. What is it that
allows me to say I am the same person today as I was yesterday or I will be tomorrow? Am I actually
the same person? There has been no general consensus on the answer to this question. However many
have proposed solutions to this question. When it comes to this hard problem of why persons last or
persist over time there are two opposing points of view points. There is the perdurance or four
dimensionalism view, which maintains that objects persist as a series of temporal parts that are simply
related to each other. The other view is that of endurance which states that objects endure over time by
being wholly present at each and every time they exist and must be numerically identical to each other
in order to be the same thing, in such a way that they are one and the same. This paper seeks to
explore what is the criterion or criteria of person identity by which we determine one person at one
time and a person at another time to be one and the same. In order to answer this question the
perdurance and endurance approaches to the problem of personal identity over time will be explored.
These views will be explored through the discussion of four prominent philosophers in the views. In
this paper I will propose ultimately Rosenkranzt s endurance view, the theory of

John Adams And Thomas Jefferson
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were two revolutionaries who helped birth a nation through an idea
of the United States. This idea included the equality of all men and their freedoms, such as religion,

President of the United States. John Adams took the position as the second President of the United
States after serving as George Washington s Vice President. Adams served as President from March 4,
1797 to March 4, 1801. Thomas Jefferson succeeded his Predecessor and was voted in as President

Adams secured the peace treaty with France, and he was in favor of the abolition of slavery. These are

Thomas Jefferson had some good ideas that he never put into action, and often people believed that he
was a bit hypocritical, or far fetched. Indeed, Jefferson s words often soared beyond his actions,
leading to enigmatic inconsistencies in his personality that some saw as hypocritical. (A Magnificent

Adams and those calling themselves Federalists saw a strong central government led by a powerful
president as vital for a prosperous, secure nation. (A Magnificent Catastrophe 18). John Adams was a

would be a part of this vision. Adams received strong support from bankers and merchants from the
northern states. Adams swept the northern states, gaining votes from every elector in New England,

processes do you think they should work on first? Why those processes?
Hammaker Manufacturing (HMC) has had its AIS in place for the past 15 years, and is interested in
reevaluating its business processes to identify any potential areas for improvement. The current
system has worked well for the company so far, however with the increasing pace of modern
technological advances, HMC is weighing its options between business process reengineering and the
potential to outsource. Denise Charbonet, the CEO, is currently working with Lloyd Rowland, a

Analysis Of Katha Pollitt s The Hunger Games Feral...
In Katha Pollitt s essay entitled The Hunger Games Feral Feminism, Pollitt writes about what reality
television might look like if taken to extremes. Reality television is a huge part of our culture today,
and I not only agree with Pollitt s views and ideas of what reality TV would look if taken to the
extremes, but I believe that we have already gotten to that point. Today s reality TV shows such as
Keeping up with the Kardashians , The Bachelorette or any of the Real Housewives are among many
of today s popular shows that focus on extreme aggression, bullying, physical beauty, and sex appeal.
These TV shows teach us that it is not only ok to compromise morals and values, but that type of
behavior accepted and rewarded. In today s age, reality TV generally has to go negative and go to the
extreme in order for it to be interesting despite the lasting impact that it may have on viewers. Reality
TV has an impact on the values of their viewers and alters how they may perceive real life situations.
Therefore, it s important to take a look at some of the standards portrayed by reality TV.
Reality television is a huge part of our television viewing culture and the line between right and wrong
is not always clear to many of the viewers. The fact is, the extreme behaviors displayed are not real or
normal in the world that exists outside of reality TV. Many reality shows depict women idealizing
beauty and thinness, giving the impression that a woman s value is based

Othello s Character Flaws
In Othello, Shakespeare had vividly portrayed the personality flaw of Othello, and how these flaws
eventually He did not allow himself to have any uncleanness on his body, so when he discovered that
his wife was white and he was When he is not white, he cannot tolerate his own mistakes and imposes
severe punishment upon himself. In self punishment, Othello s character has been sublimated. In this
way, as far as he himself is concerned, his character is not perfect, but in the eyes of art appreciators,
his character is beautiful, and his character is also very beautiful. There was great love between him
and Desdemona. He destroyed her because he loved her too much. He destroyed himself. It was also
evidence of love. His act of destroying his wife was evil and good. If Othello was a hero who was
clearly aware of the truth, then when Iagu married his wife, he immediately perceived and punished
the bad guys, so that Othello s character was perfect and flawless but, this way, a single, dispositional
character loses its charm, and there is no living Othello full of human nature. ... Show more content on

Although artistic beauty should be higher than the reality of beauty, it should be more idealistic than
the actual beauty, but it is still an ideal based on reality rather than an artificial ideal. The artificially
created ideal person, once born, means death. This is an irresistible artistic rule. As an ideal person,
their character is single, and the person in reality is dual and must be flawed. This duality only
manifests the beauty of art. Othello s controversial figure in the history of world literature is so

Even to this day, the D.B cooper case remains the only unsolved skyjacking in the United States. The
Theory that D.B Cooper Died Before people can start developing different theories about D.B Cooper,
we first have to ask ourselves whether he survive the jump. As the FBI investigates this possibility,
they discover more and more about the mysterious D.B Cooper. We originally thought Cooper was an
experienced jumper, perhaps even a paratrooper, says Special Agent Carr. However, after a few years
of research and investigation, the FBI soon discovers that this could not true. According to the FBI,
there was no trained paratrooper who could have jumped in the rain, in complete darkness, with a 200
mph wind, and survive. Even if D.B Cooper somehow managed to survived the jump, there was no
way he could have survived in the middle of the forest without any supplies during the winter time.
The FBI is almost positive that he had no one waiting for him after the jump. One reason why they
believe this is that there would have been no way for anyone to track his location because no one
could have known exactly where he landed. According to Agent Carr, he jumped at a random location
with no ground visibility. Finally after many years of investigation, Special Agent Carr came to the
conclusion that D.B Cooper did not survive the

Killing Glover Analysis
I believe there is no moral difference between killing and letting an individual die. Additionally, I feel
in certain circumstances killing (active euthanasia) is often permissible than simply letting an
individual die (passive euthanasia). However, we must first define what makes an action killing. There
are three aspects regarding the action of killing and on what basis an action is considered killing. An
action is sought ought to be killing based on an individual s intentions, the wrongfulness of the action,
and the causation of the individual s death. The conventional doctrine says, That there is such an
important moral difference between the two that, although the latter is sometimes permissible, the

The Obama administration did a good job of bolstering Jordan against chaos from Iraq and Syria so
far, but stepping back from the region could still stir up some problems with the neighboring countries
of Jordan such as Lebanon, Turkey, Tunisia, and Egypt. Although it being risky for the United States,
it may not always work to be involved in other countries because of cost and resources that would be
used to stabilize the foreign countries rather than reconstructing them. All of these countries want and
need western economic, diplomatic, technical, and military assistance, but in order to make that
happen, the U.S. needs to get rid of the root of the problem, stating that no matter how many terrorists
the United States kills, if these civil wars don t stop, more young men will turn to terrorism (Pollack).
There are urgent requests from the Yemeni government for economic reconstruction, which is in a

Young Earth Scientists
How does current science support each of the Biblical views of Young Earth Scientists(YEC), and Old
Earth Scientists(OEC)? This is a question that is disputed among many scientists. Although both
groups believe that the Bible is the word of God, they both interpret it differently. For example Young
Earth Creationists believe that the earth was literally created in one week. Old Earth Creationists
believe, however, that days did not refer to 24 hours, but referred to longer periods of time. It is
important for people to understand the differences and similarities between the beliefs of Young Earth
Creationists and Old Earth Creationists, so that they can determine which view is supported by
science.

The main difference in belief is of the age of the universe. Both groups use many difference
exclamations to support their side of this issue. Ice cores have been used to try to determine the age of
ice sheets in Greenland, and Antarctica. This works the same way as counting tree rings. However, it
is not as simple. There is still controversy on the outcome of this method. 110,000 layers have been
counted in the Antarctic sheet and have been claimed by some that these are annual layers. If this were
true, then that would suggest that the ice sheet is 110,000 years old. But these layers have been shown
not to be annual. Recently two B 17 Flying Fortresses and six P 38 Lightning fighters were excavated
in Antartica. Nearly 50 years after they went down, the planes had been covered in 250 feet of ice.
Hundreds of rings were noticed during the excavation. Since hundreds of rings were produced in less
than 50 years, this shows that the rings do not indicate years. The excavation showed the rate of
accumulation to be 5.5 feet per year. The deepest core dug is was about 10,000 feet deep. After
considering compression, 4,400 years is enough time to produce that much ice(Ice Core Dating
Segment). This shows that the Young Earth Creationist time frame can fit in ice

Paradise Lost Analysis
Paradise Lost is an epic poem written by John Milton other uses this epic poem to depict the integral
scenes, or rather, experiences that lead up to the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. In the Bible,
as well as all prominent, and popular religious works; there is a clear distinction as to who the reader
should be cheering for throughout their readings. However, John Milton s Paradise Lost has turned
this concept on its head. Rather than placing the focus onto Adam, Eve, or even God himself Milton
instead chooses to place the main focus on to Satan. The Fallen Angels, and Satan are meant to be are
antagonists within this epic poem. But, do they start out this way?
Satan is usually conveyed as a villain, yet the Satan we see within Paradise Lost, and Paradise
Regained is flushed out in a similar fashion to protagonist s within other prevalent written works in the
last few centuries. As William Blake concluded in his critique of Paradise Lost: he (Milton) was a true
poet and of the devil s party without knowing it . However, John Milton does not continue on this path
in portraying the devil s so heroically in his second Epic poem Paradise Regained (Nafi, 23). The
Satan that we knew in Paradise Lost; who was known for his wit, intelligence, and persuasive attitude
appear to no longer exist. It s as if his character is downplayed as we progress through the rest from
the later books of Paradise Lost, and continue on to Paradise Regained. Satan, who poetically danced
within the dreams of Eve, and planted the seed of curiosity within her head was reduced to an
antagonist with a lackluster performance. There are several major points in which we are able to see
the progression of Satan as a fleshed out character. However, to understand the progression of Satan s
development as a character; it is important for us to analyze major plot points throughout the twelve
books of Paradise Lost. As John Milton was a devout religious man throughout his life, and this
concert is clear throughout his writings within his various works. Yet, in a peculiar fashion, Paradise
Lost introduces the devil, and Satan first. In an ironic twist Satan addressed before Adam, Eve, Jesus,
or even God. Once the poem starts we are

External Environment Of The Brewing Industry
Introduction
This report will examine the external environment of the brewing industry using a PESTEL analysis
and the internal capabilities of ABInBev using a value chain analysis in order to determine how the
firm appears to compete. Following this, strategies for improving the competitive position of the
company will be outlined.
ABInBev is a multinational beverage and brewing company based in Belgium. It is the largest brewer
in the world with a 20.8% market share (Statista, 2016) and is also one of the world s top five
consumer goods companies.
Figure 1: Market share by volume (Statista, 2016)
The brewing industry is interesting to examine due to its relatively unique structure. Up until
November 2015, the market was dominated by four main players, known informally as the Big Four .
AB InBev was the largest, followed by SABMiller, Heineken and Carlsberg. In November 2015,
however, ABInBev and SABMiller agreed a formal $107 billion takeover deal, combining the brewers
into a company which industry experts claim would control around half of the industry s profits
(Mickle, 2015). As a result of the sheer size and complexity of the merger, it is anticipated that the
deal will not be finalised until the second half of 2016 as ABInBev must negotiate with anti trust
regulators around the world with respect to their potential monopolistic position. As the deal is yet to
be completed, this report will analyse ABInBev independent of SABMiller.

Why The Battle Of The Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge, or Ardennen Offensive was a major German offensive. On December 16,
1944 towards the end of World War II the battle was the only major German offensive of the war,
launched by Adolf Hitler in order to attempt to reverse the decrease in his fortunes that had started on
D ay. He intended to accomplish this by trying to split Allied troops through an assault located within
the Ardennes Forest of Belgium, destroying enemy troops located here. He believed would ensure the
allies to form a peace treaty that would favor the Axis Powers. The attack in the Ardennes Forest did
not result in Hitler s predicted outcome. The Ardennes Forest, was a dense forest with only a few
roads that stretched seventy five miles, these roads were being help by four inexperienced and tired
American divisions. Using them element of surprise the German troops attacked the forest on
December 16, 1944. The American divisions, desperately sought to stop advancing German troops.
Despite their attempts by the end of the day the German stoops had broken through the American
lines, taking over important intersections and had surrounded the majority of the infantry division.

Macroeconomics Essay on Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply
A. Fracking technology matures and significantly reduces the costs of producing oil and natural gas.
First of all, the fact that the overall costs of producing oil and natural gas will be reduced, then
companies will be able to produce more for the same costs or increase their profit margins. At higher
aggregate supply, the price is likely to decrease, compensating the fact that the companies have
reduced their costs and allowing them to produce at the same level for similar prices. Aggregate
demand will also increase, mainly because the products and services that are associated with oil and
natural gas will become more affordable. As aggregate demand increases, the price will also likely
increase in the short term, at least until aggregate supply and demand regulate themselves at a new
level. Ideally, however, new technologies will make oil and natural gas more affordable, which would
lower the overall price of products and services, since costs, including transportation costs, are lower.

a particular import of goods from the United States. This means that imports from the US of a
particular good has a tariff that ranges from 0 % to higher levels. Disbanding means mainly

The Violin Monologue
Hi, Hannah. ... Wow, thank you for suggesting this piece. I usually prefer dramatic melancholy music;
especially if it s instrumental music. I spend the majority of my life in my head rather than living it,
and music like this not only gives the world I m observing a soundtrack but also organizes my
confusing thoughts into perspective. The violins are my thoughts; the voices that continue to run back
in forth, like a panic pulse without pause. The piano for me the comforter. The comparing of my life to
some else s, saying that things could be worst. It is the soothing hug from my mum telling me
everything is okay. The is cello my heavy breathing as my continue to stress about everything. At 1:20
the tempo rises; the violins expressing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shattering the fairytale mum told. I look up to see mum holding on to me from falling; still telling me
to be strong, but even her eyes can t hide that we share the same fears. The fear of living another day
like this; the continual struggle! The fear of being caught. The fear of this weight forever being an
attachment of ours. 4:07 I swing like a pendulum to the beat of my pacing thoughts, as she chants
encouraging words for the both us. 4:50 the Violins demand to be heard becomes more intense.
Arguing with mum to wake up and realize she is me, and there is no alternate universe other what is
here. That it is me that is holding on, there no help, that there will no help. 5:19 My comforter,
perplexed that the help was not real. The Piano cannot find it s place. It lost the rhythm. Bewildered,
now registering the knowledge that it was just another one of my many voices. And that it too is
locked in this prison. 6:00 The Violins mocks us like they always do. Tauntingly, picking off my
fingers one by one until I am fully detached from the cliff. Laughing at me as I fall into the darkness,
while I breathe in the freedom I am finally away from the heckles. I close my eyes in descending. 6:17
Only to hear the strings of the Violins; I open my eyes to do this over

Invasion Into Italy Essay
The invasion into Italy was when he Allies decided to target Italy, which lay to the north, across the
Mediterranean sea. On July 10, 1943, the Allies began their invasion of Axis controlled Europe with
landings on the island of Sicily, off mainland Italy. Encountering little resistance from demoralized
Sicilian troops, Montgomery s 8th Army came ashore on the southeast part of the island, while the
U.S. 7th Army, under General George S. Patton, landed on Sicily s south coast. Within three days,
150,000 Allied troops were ashore. On August 17, Patton arrived in Messina before Montgomery,
completing the Allied conquest of Sicily and winning the so called Race to Messina. In September
1943 as Allied troops threatened to overrun the south ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first phase of this newest campaign, Allied bombers destroyed the ancient monastery on top of
Monte Cassino in the mistaken belief that it served as a German observation tower. The Allies were
wrong and their misguided attack alienated Catholics around the world. In September 1944, the
invasion of Italy came to end. Allied commanders on the ground believed they were poised to crush
the German line that stretched from Pisa to Florence. Allied commanders in Washington and London
decided that the cross channel invasion of France launched the previous in June. An invasion of
Southern France. Therefore, divisions were transferred from Italy to this new theater. The complete
eradication of German forces from Italy would have to wait. On July 10, 1943, the Allies began their

Damodaran on Capital and Operating Leases
Dealing with Operating Leases in Valuation Aswath Damodaran Stern School of Business 44 West
Fourth Street New York, NY 10012 adamodar@stern.nyu.edu
Abstract
Most firm valuation models start with the after tax operating income as a measure of the operating
income on a firm and reduce it by the reinvestment rate to arrive at the free cash flow to the firm.
Implicitly, we assume that the operating expenses do not include any financing expenses (such as
interest expense on debt). While this assumption, for the most part, is true, there is a significant
exception. When a firm leases an asset, the accounting treatment of the expense depends upon whether
it is categorized as an operating or a capital lease. Operating lease expenses are ... Show more content

These leases are called combination leases. Accounting For Leases The effects of leasing an asset on
accounting statements will depend on how the lease is categorized by the Internal Revenue Service
(for tax purposes) and by generally accepted accounting standards (for measurement purposes). Since
leasing an asset rather than buying it substitutes lease payments as a tax deduction for the payments
that would have been claimed as tax deductions by the firm if had owned the asset (depreciation and
interest expenses on debt), the IRS is wary of lease arrangements designed purely to
speed up tax deductions. Some of the issues the IRS considers in deciding whether lease payments
are tax deductible include the following: Are the lease payments on the asset spread out over the life
of the asset or are they accelerated over a much shorter period? Can the lessee continue to use the
asset after the life of the lease at preferential rates or nominal amounts? Can the lessee buy the asset at
the end of the life of the lease at a price well below market? If lease payments are made over a period
much shorter than the asset s life and the lessee is allowed either to continue leasing the asset at a
nominal amount or to buy the asset at a price below market, the IRS may view

High School Dropouts
Working two jobs, paying bills, and trying to live a good life are what most dropouts go through.
Education is a key factor in succeeding in life. However, not all students get to complete their high
school and continue on to a college. Completing high school and getting a degree from college is the
ticket to a better lifestyle. As we look around us, people are still living and paying off their bills even
as dropouts from high school. However, they are living at a hand to mouth situation. Most dropouts
probably work several jobs to just pay off their bills and support themselves. Today, you can have a
well respected job and a better lifestyle with simply an associate or bachelor s degree. So, what is
wrong with being a high school dropout? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(3) Yet, a student is exempt from this policy if he fulfills the requirements under article 25.086 in the
education code. (4) This policy lists the students who are exempt from the compulsory attendance age.
Under this policy, a student of at least 17 years old working on an exam equivalent to high school with
a few other requirements and a student of at least 16 years old also preparing to take an exam
equivalent to high school with a few other requirements are exempt from the compulsory attendance
age stated in section 25.085. (4) Both of these policies contribute to the percentage of high school
dropouts. The question that boggles my mind is if students have to attend school until the age of 18 or
can complete an exam equivalent to high school if they are exempt under section 25.085, then
according to the Texas on the Brink report, why does Texas have such a low percentage of students
who graduate from high school? (3,5) Because of the definition of dropout by NCES, I do not consider
the students under section 25.086 as dropouts because they are enrolled in grades 7 12, are not
expelled, do not graduate, but do get their GED. (2) Therefore, they are not dropouts. However since
these students do not actually graduate from high school,

Greek Light Experiment
The speed of light is how fast light, or electromagnetic waves, can travel. The speed of light in a
vacuum is 300,000,000 meters per second. Light will travel slower if it goes through matter. Through
air light travels at 299,000,000 meters per second. Through water it travels at 226,000,000 meters per
second. Naturally nothing travels faster than the speed of light.
Light, as simple as it seems, is complex. There have been many theories about what light is since the
time of the ancient Greeks. The Greeks described light as a ray. A ray is a straight line moving from
one point to another. Pythagoras, the person who created the Pythagorean Theorem, theorized that
vision came from light rays that came from an eye that then hit an object. A Greek ... Show more

Albert Einstein used an ultraviolet light to prove light was a particle. He shined the light on metal and
when he did he could detect electrons coming from the metal. He explained this by saying that light
contains photons. A photon is an specific amount of electromagnetic radiation which is considered as
an fundamental particle or elementary particle. A fundamental particle is an object that has no size and
therefore has no substructure. When the photons hit the metal the photon acts like a cue ball in a game
of pool hitting the other balls. When the photon hits the metal it transfers some of its energy to the
electrons in the metal causing them to separate from their original nucleus which is why Einstein was
able to detect electrons coming from the metal. The theory that light is a particle is called the quantum
theory.
To summarize light can be described as a ray and has been proven to be both a particle and a wave.
The question emerges of how light can both be a particle and a wave. Soon after Einstein discovered
that light was a particle he wrote a paper in which he described light as a wave. It turns out that light is
a collection of photons which travel as an electromagnetic wave. This explains how light can be both a
wave and a

Alcohol Use Initiation Among Adolescents
Abstract
This literature review examines alcohol use initiation among adolescents through the constructs of
Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The review consists of 23 peer reviewed sources. TPB was
applicable to 18 sources, 4 did not fall within the constructs of TPB and 1 source was used solely to
understand the public health context of this behavior. Sources were located through PubMed,
Academic Search Complete, PsycINFO and Scopus databases. The following combination of search
terms were used: alcohol use initiation adolescent behavior and age of first drinking adolescent
influences. Findings from the literature were sorted and applied to constructs of the Theory of Planned
Behavior. A chapter from the book Health Behavior and Health Education: Theory, Research and
Practice (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008) was also used in order to understand the TPB. TPB consists of
the following constructs: behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome, normative beliefs, motivation to
comply, control beliefs and perceived power (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008). Conclusions found the
behavior of alcohol use initiation among adolescents can be applied to all constructs of the model, but
existing literature did not explore all constructs of TPB at an equal level of depth. Current literature
lacks depth in the constructs of behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome and control beliefs, while
a wide variety of literature focuses on the constructs of normative beliefs and motivation to comply.

Solving the Byod Problem for the Enterprise

Solving The BYOD Problem For The Enterprise Page | 1 I. Introduction Enterprise computing, as
we know it, is facing a dimensional shift with the widespread diffusion of the BYOD (Bring Your
Own Device) phenomenon. BYOD is the latest trend hitting businesses where employees are bringing
their own personal mobile devices. Some of these devices include smartphones and tablets which are
brought into their place of work, and used on the corporate network for purposes such as accessing
files, email servers, and databases. Over the past few years, employees in many organizations are
bringing their own personal devices to the work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, execution of the BYOD policy should provide an implementation that coincides with the needs
of the other key issues. III. Models and Frameworks. Models and frameworks provide the ability to
analyze, a structured set of essential components of an object for which clear expressions is necessary
and perhaps even mandatory for creating, operating, and changing the object (Zachman, 2008). The
object is the enterprise and the ability to implement any new business policy requires structure from
models and frameworks. The models and frameworks that relate to providing structure in
implementing BYOD are the Zachman Framework, Rogers Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Risk IT
framework and Val IT Framework. The Zachman Framework is the foundation for architecture of any
kind and enterprises that are growing in complexity can be represented with the Zachman Framework.
With bring your own device the enterprise architecture of an organization will need to change to fit
with the architecture change that BYOD brings. The two columns from the Zachman Framework that
BYOD will affect is the Where and Who columns. Page | 4 The Where column involves the network
and how the system of an enterprise will change in regard to BYOD. The technology will need to be
provided by or to employees that will change the architecture of an enterprise. The system will be with
employees everywhere which means the business will be with employees everywhere they go.

22 Short Rimfire Cartridge
The .22 caliber small diameter projectile was one of the first small diameter projectiles introduced and
has been developed and adapted for over a century becoming the most popular small bore caliber in
history. While most shooters automatically jump to .22 LR when they hear .22 caliber, however there
are hundreds of variations of the .22 caliber loadings and cartridges. The .22 Short rimfire cartridge is
one of the longest running .22 caliber cartridges still in production, it was introduced in 1857 for use
in a Smith Wesson revolver1. This development went on to lead to the .22 long, .22 extra long and a
whole lineage of .22 caliber rimfire cartridges all the way to the .22 WMR in 1959, another very
popular .22 rimfire design that has recently been giving the .22LR a run for its money. The .22 caliber
bullet continued on to be developed into centerfire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While not being identical they are for the most part interchangeable in most modern platforms. The
powder charge and pressure are however different due to small differences in the casing thickness.2
This round was officially adopted by the US military in the Vietnam War for use in the M16 rifle. Its
military adoption led to its surge in popularity, though its reception was a hard one due to
misconceptions about it ability to kill. The .22 is still being used and developed to this day. From new
innovations like the 5.7x28mm or the .22 TCM the .22 diameter bullet is being used in more platforms
and being adapted all the time. The most popular selling rifle in my store is obviously the AR 15
chambered in .223/5.56, and oddly enough one of my most sought after guns is also a .22 caliber the
FNH FiveSeven Pistol. Personally I have been interested in squiring the .22 TCM conversion slides
for Glocks and selling them paired with assembled Glock frames. To this day .22 has maintained
popularity in the united states from rimfire to centerfire and the popularity may wane but for the most
part always

  • 2. The Characteristics Of Jazz And Blues Langston Hughes s ... The Characteristics of Jazz and Blues in Langston Hughes s The Weary Blues While I was reading Langston Hughes s poems, I have noticed his outstanding accomplishment in his blending creation of Negro musical characteristics and poetry. And The Weary Blues is his peaked piece of a combination of both jazz and blues. The poem reflected American African s living situation during the Harlem Renaissance, it sufficiently revealed the cultural charm of Negros and Hughes s fully affirms of his national dignity. In my paper, I will analyze the methods and techniques Hughes used to highlight the musical elements in this poem. Jazz and blues are both styles of music which were discovered by Negros. They are important to Hughes and his culture, and according to the sad and painful tunes in jazz and blues, Hughes wanted us to listen and understand his culture from this poem. The Weary Blues has a rather oral character style; the fundamental key is very slow and sentimental, but the poem is full of musicality, and makes readers felt if they are staying on the scene. I felt not only the special pleasing quality of Negro s ballad, but also felt depressed from Negro s circumstances during that time. So I have decided to focus on the analysis of the structural, style of language, along with the jazzy and blues characteristics in the image of theme. And apparently, I will use structuralism and a touch on linguistics as my criticisms to argue my statement. In the external form structure of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare And Contrast The Waterfall And Agile Method Of... 1. Introduction For this paper, I will be comparing the Waterfall and Agile methods of software development. The primary articles used for citations will be from Agile for millennials: a comparative study and The Waterfall That Won t Go Away with supplementing citations from Hybrid Software and System Development in Practice: Waterfall, Scrum, and Beyond. 2. Definition The Waterfall and Agile methods are amongst some of the most popular methods of software development. The Waterfall method is essentially a sequential approach for software development. At each stage of a project, the all tasks and goals need to be completed before moving to the next stage with the goal of reducing error. The first signs of the Waterfall method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both articles also suggest that education is avkey issue on the eventual adoption of the Agile and hybrid methodologies. Chatterjee suggests that hybrid approaches need to be slowly introduced in the workplace with the software development culture embracing the Agile method. Missiroli, Russo and Ciancarini suggest education as the root approach to make this change. However, it is evident that both methods are necessary. In fact, in the article Hybrid Software and System Development in Practice: Waterfall, Scrum and Beyond , the hybrid Water Scrum Fall method is tested. The study found that it is in fact a widely used practice, regardless of company size, industry and other external practices. Although it is still being tested with a larger population, early conclusions suggest that the hybrid method is the best approach (Kuhrmann, et al., 2017, pp. 30, 38 39). Therefore, each organization should focus on education with both methods and adopt some level of a hybrid method. The next question is if there is a formal development strategy that could be widely adopted or if both methodologies should be assessed on a case by case basis and at different degree of granularity. 5. I had a hard time knowing what instruments I heard, although I could identify some of them. I did not hear any of these songs that sounded like an audio snapshot, they all sounded like they were recorded in a studio setting with that being the intent. Every hour, 1.5 million pounds of garbage are dumped into the ocean, killing 100,000 marine creatures due to plastic entanglement, poisoning, etc. (All Recycling Facts.com). • 7. The Relationship Between Art And Commerce Historically, the relationship between art and commerce has been viewed as hierarchical. In this hierarchy of power, commerce dominates art and negatively influences artistic and creative potential of the art while art is viewed as a form of creative and cultural luxury that needs protection from external corruption. This argument has been brought up continually in academia, all similarly suggesting that there is something inherent in commerce and economics that undermines the purpose and authenticity of art. Whether this be the classic Bourdieun analysis of for profit industries and their negative influence on art culture or the modern day parent who views the popular music and culture of her child s generation as absent of value, there is a consistent contention at the core of commerce and arts relationship. While I undoubtedly agree that the politics of commerce and commercial activity has an effect on art, I do not believe that art therein lacks value because it was produced by a commercial entity or for profit. In this paper, I will argue that the contemporary relationship between art and commerce is one in which commerce does not domineer art and art culture but rather preserves and sustains it. Throughout the historical debate of this topic, many fallacies about the relationship between art and commerce have presented themselves. One of the most common misconceptions about this relationship is that commerce controls and debases art. Rather than a harmonious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every part of the Adi house has some specific name and each part has unique functional significance. Traditionally it is believed that the construction materials collected during a particular period last long and are free from the attack of termites and other insects. Key words: Adi tribe, traditional house, bamboo, cane, palm Introduction Adi people reside mostly in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya and they are one of the major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh (Mandal et al. 2002). • 9. What Does Voltaire Criticize Candide While Voltaire has so far criticized war directly through depiction of war he often does it in a more subtle manner. Candide and Cacambo arrive at Paraguay to fight for the Jesuits but are instead disarmed and told to wait for the Commandant. Them a sergeant tells them that neither the Commandant or reverend Father Provincial would talk to a Spaniard or allow one to Stay above three hours in the province (Voltaire 33) Cacambo then tells the sergeant that Candide is German not a Spaniard. The sergeant then goes and gets the reverend commandant who says God be praised. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Candide and Cacambo arrive at El Dorado they see children playing with gold and jewels and then assume that those kids are royalty since they have the gold. The children leave the jewels and gold on the floor and return to their school. Afterwards, Candide and Cacambo try returning what they think is valuable jewels and gold but when they presented it the schoolmaster, smiling, flung them upon the ground (Voltaire 41) The stupidity for wealth in the Old World is displayed because it shows that the only reason the gold and other jewels has any real value is because people put intrinsic value into is when it is worthless. As it is displayed that these precious gems and stones are no more than rocks to play with to the people of El Dorado it shows the ideocracy of those in the Old World who often fight and kill over these rocks. War... we owe to the fancy of two or three thousand persons scattered over the globe under the name of princes and ministers (Voltaire against war 1) These princes and ministers are those who start these wars which is mostly to obtain wealth and hence it shows how war is in essence pointless since it is fought over the value of rocks which the princes and ministers say is worth. Also while in El Dorado there is a very explicit criticism of war by the king of El Dorado. The kingdom we now inhabit is the ancient country of the Incas, who quitted it very imprudently to conquer another part of the world, and were at length destroyed by the Spaniards (Voltaire 43) here the is speaking of how the greed of the Incas to go conquer other areas eventually led to them being destroyed. • 10. Flatfish Mimicry Research Paper Mimicry of other toxic species Thaumoctopus mimicus is said to use imperfect mimicry, defined as the using poor to decent imitations of multiple morphs, rather than strong resemblance to one species (Hanlon et al., 2008; Huffard et al., 2010). As mentioned in the previous section, they replicate the coloration of multiple forms of flatfish, but more dramatic morphs are displayed while individuals are swimming in the mid water range of the water column or while interacting directly with aggressive species (Norman et al., 2001). Following with the assumption that T. mimicus is a Batesian mimic, the forms that individual octopus use while swimming higher in the water column are those of well known toxic or unpalatable species. A variety of dive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2010) was more focused on the evolutionary development of flatfish mimicry and the relation of T. mimicus to other individuals in the family Octopodidae. To determine the phylogenetic relationships regarding flatfish mimicry, researchers analyzed the mitochondrial DNA of other individuals found in what they referred to as the Long Armed Sand Octopus Guild . Researchers factored in a list of attributes associated with the mimic octopus that are believed to result in the unique behaviors it displays: dorsoventrally compressed (flatfish swimming), activity during daylight hours, high contrast coloration. It had been the previous assumption that flatfish swimming was an exaptation of cephalopod locomotion that the mimic octopus developed to be able to move easier after the evolution of its impressively long arms (Huffard et al., 2010). However, genetic evidence showed that the evolution of long arms and flatfish swimming most likely occurred simultaneously in T. mimicus, rendering the previous assumption null and void (Huffard et al., 2010). Further phylogenetic analysis suggests that the development of the mimic octopus s iconic high contrast banded coloration developed as a secondary adaptation in order to further solidify its imitation of toxic flatfishes. The phylogenetic tree compiled by Huffard et al. (2010) defines the long armed sand octopus guild to include T. mimicus and its relatives Wunderpus photogenicus, the White V octopus, and Abdopus acuelatus (Figure 4). The other species placed in this group demonstrate their own variations of flatfish swimming during daytime foraging hours, however only T. mimicus and W. photogenicus accompany this swimming style with high contrast coloration patterns while swimming without threat. • 15. Explain Paleey s Philosophical Position For The Existence... Paley s philosophical position for the existence of a deity can be summarized by the following statements. 1. Humans are made for a purpose. 2. If humans are made for a purpose, then there must be a creator behind that purpose. 3. Therefore, there is a creator. (1, 2, 3 MP) His reasoning for this is by comparing humans as a whole to a machine. Just like a watch, which has intricate parts that work for a grander design of telling time, so too does the eye for seeing (Feldman, 1994). The watch, Paley argues could not possibly have just came into being to fulfill the specific purpose which it presently does. According to Feldman (1994), this still points to a creator who designed its purpose and knew of its function. Even if it replicated itself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Identity In Joseph Boyden s Three Day Road An individual s identity is an ever changing composition of a person s aspirations, beliefs and morality. Identity change is often influenced by many aspects of an individual s life, but individuals must always return to their roots in order to stay true to their morality. This internal struggle over one s identity is successfully illustrated in the characters of Three Day Road. In the novel, Joseph Boyden vividly recounts the journey of two Native Canadian soldiers, Xavier and Elijah, who struggle with identity loss from the adversity of the Great War. Through their harrowing experiences from the battlefield, they experience a dissipation of morals which is only recovered in Xavier, the sole survivor, through Niska s stories of her past, his own past, and of the ... From the beginning, Elijah felt that there was a need to fit in with the other soldiers by adopting a British persona when speaking to others. In a shared code with Grey Eyes, Elijah says, Dear Henry, [...] would you be a kind chap and make me a cup of tea? (144). Although his British accent appears to be a convoluted joke, Elijah is really abandoning his Cree language in favour of a British accent to please his peers. Despite the native language being an essential part of his childhood identity, Elijah succumbs to the white man s perceived notions of the Cree language being related to witchcraft as he strips away his native language to fit in with the others. This sudden transformation to match a white man s identity ultimately results in an identity crisis that drives him to insanity. Xavier illustrates this when he notices that, ... • 19. The Issue Of Personal Identity Essay If persons persist over time then by what criteria do we determine their identity at different times? This is the issue of personal identity over time which continues to plague philosophers. What is it that allows me to say I am the same person today as I was yesterday or I will be tomorrow? Am I actually the same person? There has been no general consensus on the answer to this question. However many have proposed solutions to this question. When it comes to this hard problem of why persons last or persist over time there are two opposing points of view points. There is the perdurance or four dimensionalism view, which maintains that objects persist as a series of temporal parts that are simply related to each other. The other view is that of endurance which states that objects endure over time by being wholly present at each and every time they exist and must be numerically identical to each other in order to be the same thing, in such a way that they are one and the same. This paper seeks to explore what is the criterion or criteria of person identity by which we determine one person at one time and a person at another time to be one and the same. In order to answer this question the perdurance and endurance approaches to the problem of personal identity over time will be explored. These views will be explored through the discussion of four prominent philosophers in the views. In this paper I will propose ultimately Rosenkranzt s endurance view, the theory of ... Reality television is a huge part of our culture today, and I not only agree with Pollitt s views and ideas of what reality TV would look if taken to the extremes, but I believe that we have already gotten to that point. Today s reality TV shows such as Keeping up with the Kardashians , The Bachelorette or any of the Real Housewives are among many of today s popular shows that focus on extreme aggression, bullying, physical beauty, and sex appeal. These TV shows teach us that it is not only ok to compromise morals and values, but that type of behavior accepted and rewarded. In today s age, reality TV generally has to go negative and go to the extreme in order for it to be interesting despite the lasting impact that it may have on viewers. Reality TV has an impact on the values of their viewers and alters how they may perceive real life situations. An action is sought ought to be killing based on an individual s intentions, the wrongfulness of the action, and the causation of the individual s death. Paradise Lost Analysis Paradise Lost is an epic poem written by John Milton other uses this epic poem to depict the integral scenes, or rather, experiences that lead up to the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. In the Bible, as well as all prominent, and popular religious works; there is a clear distinction as to who the reader should be cheering for throughout their readings. However, John Milton s Paradise Lost has turned this concept on its head. Rather than placing the focus onto Adam, Eve, or even God himself Milton instead chooses to place the main focus on to Satan. The Fallen Angels, and Satan are meant to be are antagonists within this epic poem. But, do they start out this way? Satan is usually conveyed as a villain, yet the Satan we see within Paradise Lost, and Paradise Regained is flushed out in a similar fashion to protagonist s within other prevalent written works in the last few centuries. As William Blake concluded in his critique of Paradise Lost: he (Milton) was a true poet and of the devil s party without knowing it . However, John Milton does not continue on this path in portraying the devil s so heroically in his second Epic poem Paradise Regained (Nafi, 23). The Satan that we knew in Paradise Lost; who was known for his wit, intelligence, and persuasive attitude appear to no longer exist. It s as if his character is downplayed as we progress through the rest from the later books of Paradise Lost, and continue on to Paradise Regained. Satan, who poetically danced within the dreams of Eve, and planted the seed of curiosity within her head was reduced to an antagonist with a lackluster performance. There are several major points in which we are able to see the progression of Satan as a fleshed out character. However, to understand the progression of Satan s development as a character; it is important for us to analyze major plot points throughout the twelve books of Paradise Lost. As John Milton was a devout religious man throughout his life, and this concert is clear throughout his writings within his various works. Yet, in a peculiar fashion, Paradise Lost introduces the devil, and Satan first. In an ironic twist Satan addressed before Adam, Eve, Jesus, or even God. Once the poem starts we are ... External Environment Of The Brewing Industry Introduction This report will examine the external environment of the brewing industry using a PESTEL analysis and the internal capabilities of ABInBev using a value chain analysis in order to determine how the firm appears to compete. Following this, strategies for improving the competitive position of the company will be outlined. ABInBev is a multinational beverage and brewing company based in Belgium. It is the largest brewer in the world with a 20.8% market share (Statista, 2016) and is also one of the world s top five consumer goods companies. Figure 1: Market share by volume (Statista, 2016) The brewing industry is interesting to examine due to its relatively unique structure. Up until November 2015, the market was dominated by four main players, known informally as the Big Four . AB InBev was the largest, followed by SABMiller, Heineken and Carlsberg. In November 2015, however, ABInBev and SABMiller agreed a formal $107 billion takeover deal, combining the brewers into a company which industry experts claim would control around half of the industry s profits (Mickle, 2015). As a result of the sheer size and complexity of the merger, it is anticipated that the deal will not be finalised until the second half of 2016 as ABInBev must negotiate with anti trust regulators around the world with respect to their potential monopolistic position. As the deal is yet to be completed, this report will analyse ABInBev independent of SABMiller. Environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Why The Battle Of The Bulge The Battle of the Bulge, or Ardennen Offensive was a major German offensive. On December 16, 1944 towards the end of World War II the battle was the only major German offensive of the war, launched by Adolf Hitler in order to attempt to reverse the decrease in his fortunes that had started on D ay. He intended to accomplish this by trying to split Allied troops through an assault located within the Ardennes Forest of Belgium, destroying enemy troops located here. He believed would ensure the allies to form a peace treaty that would favor the Axis Powers. The attack in the Ardennes Forest did not result in Hitler s predicted outcome. The Ardennes Forest, was a dense forest with only a few roads that stretched seventy five miles, these roads were being help by four inexperienced and tired American divisions. Using them element of surprise the German troops attacked the forest on December 16, 1944. The American divisions, desperately sought to stop advancing German troops. • 38. Macroeconomics Essay on Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply A. Fracking technology matures and significantly reduces the costs of producing oil and natural gas. First of all, the fact that the overall costs of producing oil and natural gas will be reduced, then companies will be able to produce more for the same costs or increase their profit margins. At higher aggregate supply, the price is likely to decrease, compensating the fact that the companies have reduced their costs and allowing them to produce at the same level for similar prices. Aggregate demand will also increase, mainly because the products and services that are associated with oil and natural gas will become more affordable. As aggregate demand increases, the price will also likely increase in the short term, at least until aggregate supply and demand regulate themselves at a new level. Ideally, however, new technologies will make oil and natural gas more affordable, which would lower the overall price of products and services, since costs, including transportation costs, are lower. • 41. Damodaran on Capital and Operating Leases Dealing with Operating Leases in Valuation Aswath Damodaran Stern School of Business 44 West Fourth Street New York, NY 10012 adamodar@stern.nyu.edu Abstract Most firm valuation models start with the after tax operating income as a measure of the operating income on a firm and reduce it by the reinvestment rate to arrive at the free cash flow to the firm. Implicitly, we assume that the operating expenses do not include any financing expenses (such as interest expense on debt). While this assumption, for the most part, is true, there is a significant exception. When a firm leases an asset, the accounting treatment of the expense depends upon whether it is categorized as an operating or a capital lease. Operating lease expenses are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These leases are called combination leases. Accounting For Leases The effects of leasing an asset on accounting statements will depend on how the lease is categorized by the Internal Revenue Service (for tax purposes) and by generally accepted accounting standards (for measurement purposes). Since leasing an asset rather than buying it substitutes lease payments as a tax deduction for the payments that would have been claimed as tax deductions by the firm if had owned the asset (depreciation and interest expenses on debt), the IRS is wary of lease arrangements designed purely to speed up tax deductions. Some of the issues the IRS considers in deciding whether lease payments are tax deductible include the following: Are the lease payments on the asset spread out over the life of the asset or are they accelerated over a much shorter period? Can the lessee continue to use the asset after the life of the lease at preferential rates or nominal amounts? Can the lessee buy the asset at the end of the life of the lease at a price well below market? If lease payments are made over a period much shorter than the asset s life and the lessee is allowed either to continue leasing the asset at a nominal amount or to buy the asset at a price below market, the IRS may view ... • 43. Greek Light Experiment The speed of light is how fast light, or electromagnetic waves, can travel. The speed of light in a vacuum is 300,000,000 meters per second. Light will travel slower if it goes through matter. Through air light travels at 299,000,000 meters per second. Through water it travels at 226,000,000 meters per second. Naturally nothing travels faster than the speed of light. Light, as simple as it seems, is complex. There have been many theories about what light is since the time of the ancient Greeks. The Greeks described light as a ray. A ray is a straight line moving from one point to another. Pythagoras, the person who created the Pythagorean Theorem, theorized that vision came from light rays that came from an eye that then hit an object. A Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albert Einstein used an ultraviolet light to prove light was a particle. He shined the light on metal and when he did he could detect electrons coming from the metal. He explained this by saying that light contains photons. A photon is an specific amount of electromagnetic radiation which is considered as an fundamental particle or elementary particle. A fundamental particle is an object that has no size and therefore has no substructure. When the photons hit the metal the photon acts like a cue ball in a game of pool hitting the other balls. When the photon hits the metal it transfers some of its energy to the electrons in the metal causing them to separate from their original nucleus which is why Einstein was able to detect electrons coming from the metal. The theory that light is a particle is called the quantum theory. To summarize light can be described as a ray and has been proven to be both a particle and a wave. The question emerges of how light can both be a particle and a wave. Soon after Einstein discovered that light was a particle he wrote a paper in which he described light as a wave. It turns out that light is a collection of photons which travel as an electromagnetic wave. This explains how light can be both a wave and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The review consists of 23 peer reviewed sources. TPB was applicable to 18 sources, 4 did not fall within the constructs of TPB and 1 source was used solely to understand the public health context of this behavior. Sources were located through PubMed, Academic Search Complete, PsycINFO and Scopus databases. The following combination of search terms were used: alcohol use initiation adolescent behavior and age of first drinking adolescent influences. Findings from the literature were sorted and applied to constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior. A chapter from the book Health Behavior and Health Education: Theory, Research and Practice (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008) was also used in order to understand the TPB. TPB consists of the following constructs: behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome, normative beliefs, motivation to comply, control beliefs and perceived power (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008). Conclusions found the behavior of alcohol use initiation among adolescents can be applied to all constructs of the model, but existing literature did not explore all constructs of TPB at an equal level of depth. Current literature lacks depth in the constructs of behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome and control beliefs, while a wide variety of literature focuses on the constructs of normative beliefs and motivation to comply. ...
