Summary Of Plutarch s Death Of Cleopatra
The extract from Plutarch s Life of Antony concentrates on Cleopatra s seduction of Antony. It
presents Cleopatra and her retinue as manipulative, Her [Cleopatra s] flatterers also worked hard upon
Antony at this time. They told him that he must be an insensitive brute with a heart of stone, for here
was a mistress who was utterly devoted to him alone . Plutarch: Makers of Rome also references
Cleopatra s wiles, Plato speaks of four kinds of flattery. but Cleopatra knew a thousand (Scott Kilvert,
1965, p. 296).
Plutarch opines that Cleopatra s ignominy of being Antony s concubine is tolerable if, [She] could see
him and spend her life with him.... if he drove her away it would be the death of her . Consequently,
melted and unmanned Antony returns to Alexandria fearing Cleopatra s suicide. In doing so, Antony
neglects his duties at Parthia, [With] Cleopatra s alarms, and arts upon the occasion. He puts off his
Median expedition (Langhorne et al., 1810, P. 58). Portraying Cleopatra as a femme fatale, Plutarch
sees the relationship reducing Antony to a fallen hero dishonouring Rome. ... Show more content on

In the 1980s, some enclosed malls were remodelled into open air shopping centres. By the mid 1990s,
Malls were still being constructed at a rate of 140 a year. The trend was to build enclosed malls and to
renovate older outdoor malls into enclosed ones. Such malls had advantages, including temperature
control. But by the end of 1990 s the trend took a sharp turn and it was again fashionable to build open
air malls. Finally by 2001, a PricewaterhouseCoopers study found that underperforming and vacant
malls were an emerging problem.
According to new trends, the outdoor outlet malls or big box shopping areas known as power centres
are now favoured, although the traditional enclosed shopping mall is still in demand by those seeking
weather protected, all under one roof shopping. High land prices in populated cities have led to the
concept of the vertical mall, in which space allocated to retail is configured over a number of stories
accessible by elevators and/or escalators (usually both) linking the different levels of the mall.
The major challenge was to encourage the shopper to move upwards downwards, different from the
traditional tendency of moving horizontally. Vertical malls are common in densely populated
conurbations such as Hong Kong and Bangkok. Ex Times Square in Hong Kong.
Mall culture in the United States was coming to an end as the U.S. economic

Example Of Syntactical Ambiguity
4. CLARITY. In order for our writing to be clear there are some common discursive elements that the
user must avoid. Some of those elements have relevance in writing but they would only confuse the
reader in smaller work. As the Style Guide for The Economist states: Clarity of writing usually
follows clarity of thought . Clarity conveys readers comprehending our message effortlessly; writing
properly involves successful communication.
Examples:

4.3.2 SYNTACTICAL The syntactical ambiguity is when words can be interconnected into more than

Best choice: The teacher that teach French speaks very fast  Does the text contain any ambiguity? If
it does, substitute it with another word or phrase.
4.4 HEDGING The heading is usually used by the writer, in order to distance their opinion from the

part, nearly, partially, predominantly, presumably, rather, relatively, seemingly, so to speak, somewhat,
sort of, to a certain degree, to some extent, and the ubiquitous I would argue (Pinker, 2014) are

1. INTRODUCTION
Gynaecology is a special medical area which is more prominent in the developed countries and they
have gone further in marketing such services especially in the private sector. However in most less
developed countries like Zimbabwe marketing of such services is almost rare, despite the growing
importance of gynaecological services. Firstly this is due to the fact that most medical practitioners
believe there is no marketing in the health service sector. According to Etzel et al (1997), sellers in
many industries such as health think of themselves only as producers or creators not as marketers.
Also some of these service firms believe such marketing can only be done only by large companies
operating in developed countries.
This is however not really true according to the American Marketers Association definition of
marketing. It regards marketing as A process of planning and executing the conception,

Euthanasia: Why It Should Be Legal
In the past, a doctor was a friend who treated the diseases. Now a doctor is a stranger who combats
diseases. Their job is not only to prevent death but also to improve the patient s quality of life. Lots of
times there is nothing a doctor can do to prevent a patient from dying if the patient has a terminal
disease; all they can do is wait for death to arrive. This waiting time can be very painful for both the
patients and the people who surround them. Not practicing euthanasia at the request of the dying
person is violating a person s rights, interfering with a doctor s job, and increasing suffering.
First off, deciding if someone wants to be alive or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hospitals are just wasting time and money on a situation that won t get better. If the patient wants
euthanasia they deserve a quick and painless death. Doctors cannot end the huge amount of money
wasted on a treatment that won t help so why not alleviate some of those expenses from family
members and taxpayers.
Doctors should be allowed to end life, especially when the person desires it. I am only doing what I, as
a physician, should do . (Kevorkian 170) It doesn t make sense that they can keep someone alive
without having the opportunity to ask that person if they want to be living like that. Many patients
now find themselves unable to live without machines that restrict their movements and often cause
different kinds of pain, and some may prefer not to live at all . (Marzilli 69) The doctor is just the
person who helps the patient to do what they desire.
Many would say what makes life sustaining treatment none beneficial or too big of a burden if it can
achieve its design of saving life. On the other hand, if death is in the best interests of some patients if
the withdrawal of life sustaining treatment can be said to be of benefit in this case then death
constitutes a moral good for these patients . (Doyal) Incompetent patients are unable to benefit from
further treatment or find it too large of a burden if they cannot benefit from being alive any longer.
When the continuing use of life sustaining treatment is to be of no benefit or of too much burden, the

Discrimination In Health And Social Care Essay
The discrimination is based on ageism. Ageism means when someone discriminates a person
according to their age. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her
and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the
carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end
of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could
make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant
towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. It lowers her confidence making
her feel worthless and unwanted just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the carer isn t aware of what the old lady needs or wants. Whenever she asks for
something, the carer s would refuse, such as when the old patient chose from the food menu to eat
vegetarian food as she dislikes fish or meaty products, (vegetarian) the carer didn t give her any other
option apart from eating meat which the old lady doesn t prefer as her right to choice was taken away.
This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to
her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since
maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient
personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her
points and rights. Her short term will be affected as she will feel scared and threatened from the care
workers as she may think that they would control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or
tell anyone. So this reinforces how her rights are very low and limited. This will affect her intellectual
development because since her rights aren t being heard, she will give up trying and would consider
herself unintelligent and

Pest In The Fourteenth Century
Since the beginning of time, people have had a few basic needs. Somewhere to live, and most
importantly, something to eat. Nature works within a very delicate balance, and one of the biggest
challenges we face is the battle to keep our food supply plentiful and safe. Various plants, animals and
other organisms can threaten our food supply, along with our health and comfort. When they display a
threat we consider them to be pests, and their impact is never taken lightly. In fact, throughout our
history pest have occasionally led to significant events that have changed our world. For example,
during the fourteenth century, the Bubonic Plague also known as The Black Death took place. It

The Art of War Analysis
The Art of War Analysis The Art of War was one of our world s first written documents that dealt with
militaristic strategies and advancements. The book was written by a Chinese military leader named
Sun Tzu, who commanded and analyzed his military over the Warring States Period of China. Sun Tzu
produced this text in an attempt to provide future military advantages for the Chinese, but The Art of
War s ideas eventually spread to neighboring civilizations and empires. The ideas and facts expressed
in Sun Tzu s writings proved effective as military groups became more powerful through the writings.
Throughout The Art of War, Sun Tzu expressed his views and tactics primarily in moral ethics,
intelligence, environmental tactics, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fighting in one s homeland will lead to better conditions for the army that originated in that area
because they know of the environment and what it takes to survive there. Sun Tzu explains his
opinions of military tactics on six types of terrain and all of them easily gave the best advantages to
the military that used them. The last topic that Sun Tzu took great pride in was military leadership.
Since Sun Tzu was a general, he knew how to run an army to its best conditions with a minimal
amount of casualties. During the text, Sun Tzu states, Now the general is the pillar of the state; if the
pillar has mastered all points of war, the state will be strong; if the pillar is defective, the state will be
week. (p. #1) Tzu is using the general s leadership as a supporting structure to the whole empire or
civilization. If the military leader is dysfunctional, then the whole state or empire will be dysfunctional
as well. The Art of War also states, The masterful leader cultivates the moral law, and strictly adheres
to proper methods and discipline; thus it is his power to control success. (p. #1) The leader must also
have great morals in order to run a great military and these morals by which the leader lives by will
serve as models for the civilization. A great military starts with a great leader, and

Religious Rights And Gay Rights
As stated directly in the Constitution, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... This means that one cannot be discriminated on the
basis of religion. In recent years, religious rights and gay rights have become tied together due to the
fact that some feel sexual orientation ties into religious beliefs. There are some people who are in
agree with same sex marriage, while there are some that oppose it. It is stated that in The Atlantic
article that, In certain cases, extending new rights to LBGT workers will necessarily lead to religious
freedom objections, and vice versa. No matter what side you agree with in the controversy of same sex
marriages, it is important to remember that the Constitution states, all men are created equal , therefore
we must handle this controversy in a way that everyone is treated equaled in the eyes of the law.
Girgis and Anderson, the writers of What is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense, are against same
sex marriages. Their view on same sex marriage is considered traditional. The framework that Girgis
and Anderson erect for for approaching questions of religious liberty is that when analyzing claims
based on theoretical accounts of the values served by religious liberty and antidiscrimination we can
achieve win win outcomes by respecting the moral and religious liberty claims in the debate without
undoing anyone s legitimate policy goals. Personally, I disagree

Two GAFCEL salespeople one full time, the other about half time had reached a $1 million annual
sales rate. Several of AirCap s distributors had taken on the GAFCEL line. Hauser was preparing to
recommend Sealed Air s reaction to these somewhat unanticipated competitors. The firm could
produce an uncoated bubble as cheaply as GAFCEL within a month with no major capital investment;
it could run on machines used for another Sealed Air product. If Hauser were to recommend that the
historic champion of barrier coating offer an uncoated bubble, he would have to specify timing, the
marketing program for the new product, and any adjustments in policies for AirCap cushioning and
Sealed Air s other products. As Hauser thought about his options, he again flipped through the training
manual recently distributed to Sealed Air s sales force: How to Sell against Uncoated Bubbles.

Negative Effects Of Television Violence On Society
Television Violence
Television violence has a negative effect on society. Violence is everywhere on television. A question
people ask often does violence on television has negative influence on society. Majority of people
believe that violence on television does have negative influences on society. Television violence has a
negative effect on society because it can influence to become violent and take drugs in the future.
Scientist has also tested and proven that television violence has negative influence on society.
Television has many shows with violence with it like Power ranger, Criminal Mind, and The Walking
Dead. In the show The Walking Dead is a show where a group of people try to survive in a zombie
apocalypse and have to use guns to shoot down the zombies. A child mind is easily molded easily, so
when a child sees violence on a television show they can learn to do violent actions in the future. An
example of this is when a child watches a show with a lot of fighting in it. Shows with a lot of fighting
in it are Power rangers and The kids next store. Most children mimic what happens on television and
start learning violent actions. This can lead to the child to think that violence is tolerable and start to
do more violence actions in the future. Later when they become adult they are more likely to use
violence to solve their problems. An example of this happening is when an adult is teased and start a
fight with someone. Not all shows have violence in them, Dora the explora and Curious George are
shows that are educational. In Dora the explora a girl with her monkey friend go on adventure and
have to use problem solving to get to their destination. Scientists like Leonard Eron have tested that
television does have a negative effect on society. The study of human behavior is Anthropologist and
archeologist. The scientist tested if television had a negative effect on society. They tested this by
having parent volunteer their child to watch several type of shows. The children were separated into
two group, group A and group B. Group A were shown violent shows and group B was shown
educational shows. Eight years after the test children from group A were more likely to be more

When it comes to emotions, there is always a reason to why one experiences them. It can be happiness
due to getting a favorite toy, jealousy at another s position, hatred due to one s actions, and so on.
Even sub categories are due to an experience bringing it forth. Such as suffering, one doesn t suffer
randomly, it happens because it was the effect of some cause. One of the biggest causes being
unfulfilled desire; depending on the significance of the desire the greater the suffering. In the novel

she never showed outward disdain for the mark on her chest, Kikuji s mother explains that any women
with such a mark would be self conscience. In addition, that dread would follow a woman, because
she would constantly feel fear that her husband would be disgusted by it. Also, that if she were to have
children they would be forced to suckle from that hideous mark, all this Chikako was aware of which
is why she never married. However, as a prostitute she had some semblance of fulfillment, since she

Have you ever seen a modern day zeppelin or more commonly known as airships? Probably not.
Zeppelins were once very popular. People all over the world wanted to fly on them, until the well
known zeppelin called the Hindenburg went up in flames. Today, there are companies that are trying
to bring back the airships that are safer for the world to use. There are many reasons that zeppelins or
airships could be very popular again. One reason they could be popular again is because they are safe
and good fro the environment. Modern day airships would use helium, a nonflammable gas, instead of
Hydrogen, the very flammable hydrogen. Helium is environment friendly, unlike hydrogen, which

European Indians And American Colonists
The moment when Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas was the beginning of the
interactions between American Indians and European colonists. These very first interactions were
mostly positive due to the the generosity of the Indians but turned violent when the Europeans began
to mistreat, kidnap, enslave, and kill the American Indians. Actions taken by the American Indians and
European Colonists, especially actions of violence, during the 1600s caused the relationship between
the two parties to be negative and conflicting in New England and Chesapeake. In New England, John
Winthrop began conflicts early when he declared that the Indians had only a natural right to their land
and no legal right. The Puritans and Pequot Indians lived side by side with relative peace until an
attack was launched upon the Narraganset Indians. Not many people were killed and the Narragansets
did not fight back, but when the Puritans attacked the Pequot Indians, they fought back. The Pequot
War was one of large massacres, rather than battles, from both sides and had many deaths. Mason
proposed to avoid attacking Pequot warriors, which would have overtaxed his unseasoned, unreliable
troops. Battle, as such, was not his purpose. Battle is only one of the ways to destroy an enemy s will
to fight. Massacre can accomplish the same end with less risk, and Mason had determined that
massacre would be his objective (Jennings). The Europeans raided the Pequot village and burned all of

Conformity And Expectation In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
In Jane Austen s novel Northanger Abbey, conformity is a very prominent recurring theme. The main
character Catherine Morland fails to conform to the clichés of a typical literary heroine and woman in
the aristocratic society. As a child she never enjoyed the more girly activities, she had no taste for a
garden, and if she gathered flowers at all, it was chiefly for the pleasure of mischief, (Austen 5). As a
young teenager she was quite foolish and awkward. The narrator stated at the beginning of the novel

Isabella Thorpe, a friend of Catherine s during a large portion of the novel, believed that Catherine s
brother James Morland was extremely rich and greedily squeezed a marriage proposal out of him.
However, when Isabella realized he was not as well off as she assumed, she broke off the engagement
and started to flirt with Frederick Tilney, Henry s brother. Other women in that time period would do
that as well in order to marry rich, and Catherine thought that practice was revolting. Catherine was at
the age to be married, and John Thorpe clearly showed interest in her. However, she disliked him and
didn t succumb to the social customs and expectations that pressured her to marry him. By showing

Loneliness in Cannery Row, by John Steinbeck
As night falls on Cannery Row actuality and fear overwhelms the souls as they lay awake at night. At
this very moment they are alone to think to ponder their existence their importance their meaning.
During the day the things the people of Cannery Row use to fill their void. To give them happiness is
gone and for those long hours of the night they are truly alone. The cats, the parties, and companions
are gone just for a second. But they return in the morning to calm the weary and the broken spirits of
the people in Cannery Row. Each of us just like the people in Cannery Row uses something or
someone to compensate for the loneliness in our lives. Money, relationships, and personal struggles

Although Frankie has never had much love he knows what it means and he finds it in Doc. With Doc
he is not alone. Doc is his protection, his comforter. He is also a father figure who he looks up to.
Undoubtedly Doc and Frankie share something and it is there intellectual capacities. Their intellect
predisposes them to a certain form of loneliness. It is of course on the opposite spectrum. Doc is
highly and unusually intelligent while Frankie is on the slow side. They find it hard to fit in with the
people of Cannery Row because they cannot find a place where they fit in intellectually. We can all
think back to the smart kid or who we would refer to as the nerd in high school. They were the kids
who always sat alone at lunch who did not go to dances or social events. Never got asked to prom and
had very little friends. If you are too smart you are a nerd and if you are too slow you are dim witted.
Therefore is safe to say intelligence plays a huge role in loneliness. Doc chooses to be to put all his
time and effort into his work which brings him true happiness. Without Western Biological doc would
feel alone and isolated. Western Biological fills the void in his life. Although Doc has not reached self
actualization all his basic needs have been met. He is satisfied with where he is. No doubt Cannery

Essay On Student Stress
College students are stressed all the time, so much that it has become a daily emotion in their
academic career. College students stress increases when we go away to college because we have a lot
of freedom that we never had before. Some students have been so dependent on their parents for so
long that when it comes to daily task they are at so confused on how to properly complete it. In
college we experience academic, financial, family, social, and family stress. Stress is a normal human
behavior but it can physically and mentally harm us. To deal with stress one has to find ways to cope
in order to decrease their stress level. Ideal coping mechanisms for a college student is counseling,
communication , and relaxation techniques instead of leisure activities. As we go through the
transition of becoming college students we become vulnerable to stress because we are trying to find
ourself, keep up with our academics, have a social life and adjust to a new life. It becomes so much for
a college student that they easily become stressed. Even if students are physiologically stressed they
don t seek counseling, however others try to look for counseling because it gives social support and
interpersonal coping techniques that a college student can seek.In the article College Student Stress

African American Criminalization Analysis
In this class we have learned about mass incarceration and the criminalization of black and brown
bodies throughout U.S. history. An early example of the criminalization of brown bodies can be seen
in Los Angeles when the Spanish Crown came and deemed Native Americans as lawless and
ungovernable. Then, later in time, we see the criminalization of black bodies in the South during the
Reconstruction Era. Laws and ideology that are motivated by colonialism and settler colonialism, have
helped put more black and brown bodies in prison and exploit them for labor through convict lease
systems. The criminalization of Native Americans, Hobos, and African Americans served a political,
social and economic purpose which helped colonialism and settler ... Show more content on

Hobo did not want to conform to settler colonialism, in attempting to permanently reside in Native
land, which led to them being outcasts in society. African Americans were ignored and attacked for
trying to integrate in society. It is evident that colonialism has played in the social construction of race
as well as a racialized global hierarchy and a system of punishment that criminalizes difference
(Bosworth/Flavin 13). It is evident that these populations were criminalized because they were
different and did not follow or assimilate to European culture. Incarcerating these two populations,
gave Anglo Saxons free and cheap labor in the construction of Los Angeles and many construction
projects in the South. This was useful to colonialism because Anglo Saxons and Spaniards could take

Japanese Internment Camps
A woman entered her makeshift home within the horse stables. The year was 1942 in Denson,
Arkansas. With only the rudimentary supplies of furniture and home goods that were miraculously
spared from disposal upon entering, the sole organization for the living space originated from a thin
curtain hung aloft between the bed and dining table. Rooms continued throughout the horse stables,
specifically known as the barracks for Japanese Americans during World War II, where approximately
120,000 Japanese Americans were forced to evacuate the West Coast of the Continental United States
to reside in what were later known as internment camps. As a response to the rising racial prejudice
against Japanese immigrants (known as Issei) and their Japanese American children (known as Nisei)
and in addition to the Bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941, the government required Japanese
civilians to stay in these camps for an undetermined duration. Victims of the camps faced immense
difficulty both by society and the camps unsanitary environment. Before and during the Second World
War, Japanese American immigrants faced racial prejudice and assumptions of disloyalty by the
United States government and Western society; once the war ended, Japanese Americans strived to
diminish racial prejudice by assimilating more into Western society while the government took action
to compensate internment victims with benefits for their unwilling sacrifices.

The French Culture is a very diverse assortment of different regions all put together, which add to its

France s identity is based on the historical origins of the nation in Celtic, Gallo Roman, and Frankish

introduced as a more common term to call the entire area, which was known as Gaul. The name

happens during Christmas time. France in 2008 was the world s fifth economic power, behind the

effects of the global recession, but the effects in France have been partly cushioned by a more cautious
banking and investment sector, and by a tradition of state intervention in the economy. In many
sectors, the French economy is among the strongest in the world. France is among the leading
industrial economies in the automotive, aerospace, and railways sectors, as well as in cosmetics,
luxury goods, insurance, pharmaceuticals, telecoms, power generation, defense, agriculture and
hospitality. France is also the world s leading tourist destination. Regarding its labor market, France
has one of the highest levels of graduates, and the highest number of science graduates per 1000

The diversity of French cuisine as evidenced by the distinct dishes developed in different regions gave
way to a variety of ways that French food may be consumed and enjoyed. Dishes from the French

Alicia Switching School
Here s What:
Alicia switching schools is a very important detail to include in this assessment I believe, it can say a
lot about how a person identifies different situations. It is sad how low Alicia perceives reading in
both categories. It is something she will never get away from and her dislike now, will only make it
harder in the future.
So What:
After reading that Alicia had recently switched schools and had very low reading recreational and
academic interests, my immediate thoughts were if the two were correlated. If Alicia, does not feel
comfortable in her new classroom and with new peers, she may not feel academics (such as reading)
welcoming to her. They may remind her of the thoughts she has at school and how she doesn t it like it

Ethics And Moral Standards On Student Behavior
Is it ethical to evaluate teachers based on student behavior?
The education field represents the one of the largest industries in the United States. Due to the
enormous capacity of professionals, many supervisors and managers intend to set clear standards for
every educator. Therefore, teachers embody the strict guidelines to accept the recognition of an
exceptional educator. Teaching symbolizes effort, care, and knowledge, characteristics that exemplify
a small portion of every educator. Along with great accomplishments, responsibility and ethics impact
an educator s action. As a result, ethics and moral standards influence future generations at a higher
level every time.

The presence of confusion in a situation, causes differences and disputes leading to ethical dilemmas.
In a perfect, ideal society nothing could possibly encounter arguments, but in a realistic world

solution. In order to avoid and eliminate excessive ethical dilemmas in the education industry, many
professionals establish certain ethical standards to prevent work environment issues. Contrary to the
set standards, many educators explain the unfairness in which teachers receive evaluations.
So, is it ethical to evaluate teachers based on student behavior? The problem lies in the grading
process. The teachers are commonly evaluated everywhere in the world. Sometime the way teachers
are evaluated, lacks the complete capacity of the teacher. Although multiple evaluations are taken
during the school year, even some of the observations are not as clear as the teachers. Since the
evaluations are somewhat unexpected, teachers have no way of controlling the way their class will act.
Therefore taking into consideration the student s behaviors may cause a misinterpretation.
For example would it be okay to finalize the teacher s grade based on the way the students behave?
Since the evaluations are at least twice a year, it is very likely that the teacher will not score as high as
the demanding rubric of most of the evaluations. But teachers need to be

During the Victorian era many common themes are depicted throughout the writings of that time. One

Brontë. In Alfred Lord Tennyson s The Lady of Shalott, the theme of gender role is obvious. The Lady

Question What will the outcome be if the amount of baking soda is substituted with an equal amount
of baking powder in a standard chocolate chip cookie?
Knowledge Probe
Scientific Knowledge:
From previous experiences with baking cookies we are aware that if you accidentally use baking
powder instead of soda, the cookies will increase in thickness and will result in a sponge like texture.
Baking soda and baking powder are similar, but have different reactions to the ingredients in baking
cookies. Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate, and once it meets heat, carbon dioxide is
formed. The carbon dioxide is what gives rise to cookies and other baked goods. Baking powder, on
the other hand, is a mixture of baking soda, powdered acid, and cornstarch (Baking 101: The

We concluded that only one trial is not sufficient enough to provide an accurate claim. It is not
accurate because no measurement is precise so Byars cookie compared to ours will be different. By
conducting more than one trial we would have many of the same cookies to compare their general
features to Byars cookie. It would be easier to tell if in fact Byars did substitute baking powder for
baking soda or if he did not.
Errors that could not be eliminated includes the fact that measurements are not precise, and the varying
temperatures of the oven used. Because measurements are not precise, it is very unlikely that two
cookies will be exactly the same, making it harder to reach an accurate claim. During the experiment
we discovered that the oven had been set to a lower temperature than the 375° F specified in the
procedures. This caused cookies to become undercooked without realizing is as to the fact we were
following the procedure of leaving the cookie in only for nine to eleven minutes.

Bleu stayed focused on the quality of the product. The key to quality, in her mind, was the ingredients.
She strongly believed that the use of all natural chocolate, cream, and butter made the difference in her
chocolates, so only the finest ingredients were used. Preservatives were not added to the candies,
thereby enhancing the high quality taste. To control the quality, candies were made at the single
manufacturing location. Candies were made by hand, the old fashioned way, and packaged in a
distinctive silver box with a blue ribbon in a bow. The silver box with a blue ribbon bow became a
well recognized symbol of Bleu Ribbon Chocolates and the quality candies they produced; indeed, the
box became synonymous with the brand. Mrs. Bleu ran her business until the 1970s, when she decided

The Moral Disagreement on Capital Punishment (Death Penalty)
Using Democratic Deliberation to Resolve the Moral Disagreement on Capital Punishment (Death
Penalty)
Common American experience seems to suggest that a solution to every dilemma can be found
through enough lobbying, legislating, media blitzing or politicking. We often believe that the person
arguing most eloquently, reasonably or forcefully will win every dispute, yet there are times when this
optimism fails. Despite great efforts to show the strength of a position, there are arguments that we
cannot untangle simply by proving our right and another s wrong. Some moral questions permit such
different outlooks that holders of completely opposing views can both be morally sound. Rather than
trying to reason away one side we can only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants in such discussion can arrive at an understanding of their differing views and gain respect
for the variation that exists, the first steps towards solving the moral questions that seem unsolvable.
To lead towards any justifiable outcome, deliberation must abide by certain guidelines of respect, open
mindedness and accommodation. At the heart of the debate must be a genuine acknowledgement that
opponents views, though disagreeing with our own, are just as morally sound. In granting this we must
also approach the discussion with a willingness to change our opinions if discussion reveals a stronger
moral position. Deliberation relies on rational participants who do not blindly cling to prior beliefs
despite evidence favoring other ones. If, however, deliberators cannot justify leaving their positions
after fair consideration, they must make concessions to the opposing side without sacrificing their own
views. By eliminating points of contention opponents can reach towards an economy of moral
disagreement. Though it will never be possible to satisfy every member of this diverse nation, appeals
to methods of deliberation offer moral justification for our decisions. A crusader for censorship, for
example, will always be upset if defeated, but he may be more satisfied knowing the rationale for his
defeat than otherwise.

Descriptive Essay On The Place Of A Restaurant
What I thought was another quiet cafe in another quiet town was anything but... As soon as I walked

After waiting for about 30 minutes trying to get the waitress s attention the owner finally walked over.

Analysis Of The Documentary Armadillo Essay
The Dutch documentary Armadillo (2010) directed by Janus Metz Pedersen takes its audience into the
world of the platoon of Dutch soldiers as they complete a tour of duty in Afghanistan against the
Taliban. Majority of the dialogue in the film was spoken in Dutch, as well as Arabic spoken by the
Afghanistan citizens, the use of English subtitles translated for understanding. The documentary
begins with 4 men and then the introduction of other comrades, the documentary moves forward as the
actions and effects of war is put into focus. This is some of the few decisions made by the film maker,
as the message intended for the audience is made through the structure decided by the director. The
narrative structure of a documentary can be explained through several modes that can be present
within the documentary. Modes include Actuality, Expository, Observational, Rhetoric and
Participatory. The use of camera work, editing, and sound can help with the narration and better
understanding of the overall documentary. All of the modes, supported by the use of visual and oral
techniques, help the director express his perspective of the Dutch troop duty tour of the Afghanistan
and the intended message.
Actuality mode of the documentary emphasises the importance of realism and facts within the footage.
The purpose is to expose the audience to the real world, or some would say the harsh truth which in
the case of Armadillo, is the war and violence present. A scene in that was edited to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Micro-Grids
Introduction
Energy is considered to be an integral aspect of social and economic development. Despite this 311
million in India people lack access to electricity and other clean energy sources (Banerjee et al.
2015:1). Despite the policy push for rural electrification since 1980 s , seventy five million households
in rural India lack energy access (TERI 2015: 155), making energy access predominently a rural
problem (Bhattacharyya Palit 2014: 2). Thus the slow progress made can be attributed to the
conventional electrification programmes which provide electricity access by connecting households to
the national grid. This approach is deemed to be neither financially feasible nor environmentally
sustainable (Josey Sreekumar, 2015: 5).
Given the challenges encountered while employing conventional electrification methods, micro grids
are being seen as an alternative for providing electricity through a decentralised renewable energy
generation and distribution. Decentralised electricity generation signifies an electric power source
connected directly to the distribution network or on the customer s side of the meter (Gurtoo Lahiri

INTRODUCTION Gynaecology is a special medical area which is more prominent in the developed countries and they have gone further in marketing such services especially in the private sector. However in most less developed countries like Zimbabwe marketing of such services is almost rare, despite the growing importance of gynaecological services. Firstly this is due to the fact that most medical practitioners believe there is no marketing in the health service sector. According to Etzel et al (1997), sellers in many industries such as health think of themselves only as producers or creators not as marketers. Also some of these service firms believe such marketing can only be done only by large companies operating in developed countries. Now a doctor is a stranger who combats diseases. Their job is not only to prevent death but also to improve the patient s quality of life. Lots of times there is nothing a doctor can do to prevent a patient from dying if the patient has a terminal disease; all they can do is wait for death to arrive. This waiting time can be very painful for both the patients and the people who surround them. Doctors cannot end the huge amount of money wasted on a treatment that won t help so why not alleviate some of those expenses from family members and taxpayers. Doctors should be allowed to end life, especially when the person desires it. I am only doing what I, as a physician, should do . (Kevorkian 170) It doesn t make sense that they can keep someone alive without having the opportunity to ask that person if they want to be living like that. Many patients now find themselves unable to live without machines that restrict their movements and often cause different kinds of pain, and some may prefer not to live at all . (Marzilli 69) The doctor is just the person who helps the patient to do what they desire. Many would say what makes life sustaining treatment none beneficial or too big of a burden if it can achieve its design of saving life. On the other hand, if death is in the best interests of some patients if the withdrawal of life sustaining treatment can be said to be of benefit in this case then death constitutes a moral good for these patients . The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her points and rights. It is sad how low Alicia perceives reading in both categories. It is something she will never get away from and her dislike now, will only make it harder in the future. So What: After reading that Alicia had recently switched schools and had very low reading recreational and academic interests, my immediate thoughts were if the two were correlated. Teaching symbolizes effort, care, and knowledge, characteristics that exemplify a small portion of every educator. In order to avoid and eliminate excessive ethical dilemmas in the education industry, many professionals establish certain ethical standards to prevent work environment issues. Contrary to the set standards, many educators explain the unfairness in which teachers receive evaluations. So, is it ethical to evaluate teachers based on student behavior? The problem lies in the grading process. The teachers are commonly evaluated everywhere in the world. Sometime the way teachers are evaluated, lacks the complete capacity of the teacher. Although multiple evaluations are taken during the school year, even some of the observations are not as clear as the teachers. Since the evaluations are somewhat unexpected, teachers have no way of controlling the way their class will act. Therefore taking into consideration the student s behaviors may cause a misinterpretation. For example would it be okay to finalize the teacher s grade based on the way the students behave? Since the evaluations are at least twice a year, it is very likely that the teacher will not score as high as the demanding rubric of most of the evaluations. But teachers need to be ... Participants in such discussion can arrive at an understanding of their differing views and gain respect for the variation that exists, the first steps towards solving the moral questions that seem unsolvable. To lead towards any justifiable outcome, deliberation must abide by certain guidelines of respect, open mindedness and accommodation. At the heart of the debate must be a genuine acknowledgement that opponents views, though disagreeing with our own, are just as morally sound. In granting this we must also approach the discussion with a willingness to change our opinions if discussion reveals a stronger moral position. Deliberation relies on rational participants who do not blindly cling to prior beliefs despite evidence favoring other ones. If, however, deliberators cannot justify leaving their positions after fair consideration, they must make concessions to the opposing side without sacrificing their own views. By eliminating points of contention opponents can reach towards an economy of moral disagreement. Though it will never be possible to satisfy every member of this diverse nation, appeals to methods of deliberation offer moral justification for our decisions. Analysis Of The Documentary Armadillo Essay The Dutch documentary Armadillo (2010) directed by Janus Metz Pedersen takes its audience into the world of the platoon of Dutch soldiers as they complete a tour of duty in Afghanistan against the Taliban. Majority of the dialogue in the film was spoken in Dutch, as well as Arabic spoken by the Afghanistan citizens, the use of English subtitles translated for understanding. The documentary begins with 4 men and then the introduction of other comrades, the documentary moves forward as the actions and effects of war is put into focus. This is some of the few decisions made by the film maker, as the message intended for the audience is made through the structure decided by the director. The narrative structure of a documentary can be explained through several modes that can be present within the documentary. Modes include Actuality, Expository, Observational, Rhetoric and Participatory. The use of camera work, editing, and sound can help with the narration and better understanding of the overall documentary. All of the modes, supported by the use of visual and oral techniques, help the director express his perspective of the Dutch troop duty tour of the Afghanistan and the intended message. Despite this 311 million in India people lack access to electricity and other clean energy sources (Banerjee et al. 2015:1). Despite the policy push for rural electrification since 1980 s , seventy five million households in rural India lack energy access (TERI 2015: 155), making energy access predominently a rural problem (Bhattacharyya Palit 2014: 2). Thus the slow progress made can be attributed to the conventional electrification programmes which provide electricity access by connecting households to the national grid. This approach is deemed to be neither financially feasible nor environmentally sustainable (Josey Sreekumar, 2015: 5). Given the challenges encountered while employing conventional electrification methods, micro grids are being seen as an alternative for providing electricity through a decentralised renewable energy generation and distribution.
