It marks his 30 th year broadcasting Rangers baseball, the longest tenure of any announcer in the history of the franchise and one of the longest continuous current stints with one team in the American League. A nominee for the Ford Frick Award on the fan ballot. A four-time recipient (1999, 2001, 2002, 2006) of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Texas Sportscaster of the Year Award, and two-time winner of the Associated Press award for best play-by-play in Texas. Among his most memorable calls was the 5,000 th strikeout of Nolan Ryan’s career on August 22, 1989 . Victor Rojas is in his 5 th season as a member of the Texas Rangers radio broadcast team, providing both play-by-play as well as analysis. Rojas, 39, came to the Rangers from the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he spent the 2003 season doing radio play-by-play and analysis. MLB radio hired Rojas to host their morning show, “The Baseball Breakfast” and later brought him on board to serve as play-by-play announcer for the 2002 All-Star Game in Milwaukee as well as the 2002-2003 Arizona Fall League seasons.
