Welcome Instruction happening daily FYS scavenger hunt FYS scavenger hunt with answers Answer questions, but also encourage/coach the freshmen
A library instructor’s responsibilities? Divide into groups Assign roles 		- Spokesperson   		- Scribe Discuss answers to question above. Find an article, blog, document, etc. that supports one or more of you answers.
Discussions Spokespersons share group answers Write answers for all to see Compare prepared list
Groups’ Answers Instill a spirit of collaborative. independence Maintain order in the classroom. Collaborate with the instructor. Advertise and drum up business. Be prepared & organized. Do no harm. Leave & enlightened. Instill skepticism & critical thinking. Show them something new. Solicit feedback & evaluations. Stay within the time frame. Coach faculty.
Instructor’s responsibilities Communicate Create outline/plan Solicit feedback Adjust outline/plan Prepare handouts & worksheets Practice search examples Teach Allow for hands-on Help students Have them fill out evaluations Send back summary to faculty Offer follow-up visit Know info-lit standards Coach faculty Send follow-up eval.

Promote library instruction	 If faculty liked your instruction, tell them to recommend library instruction to colleagues. Talk about library instruction with contacts Mention open workshops at     beginning of classes when     relevant Other ideas?

Instruction Meeting

  • 2. Welcome Instruction happening daily FYS scavenger hunt FYS scavenger hunt with answers Answer questions, but also encourage/coach the freshmen
  • 3. A library instructor’s responsibilities? Divide into groups Assign roles - Spokesperson - Scribe Discuss answers to question above. Find an article, blog, document, etc. that supports one or more of you answers.
  • 4. Discussions Spokespersons share group answers Write answers for all to see Compare prepared list
  • 5. Groups’ Answers Instill a spirit of collaborative. independence Maintain order in the classroom. Collaborate with the instructor. Advertise and drum up business. Be prepared & organized. Do no harm. Leave & enlightened. Instill skepticism & critical thinking. Show them something new. Solicit feedback & evaluations. Stay within the time frame. Coach faculty.
