Frankenstein
To re-write Frankenstein the play into a
comic book for primary school pupils.
Starter:
1. Look at the Frankenstein comic book on
your table.
2. Answer the questions on the handout
about the comic book.
3. Frankenstein The Comic Book!
• Task – It’s your job to create a comic book
about Frankenstein the play.
• You have been given one act of the play
and need to create one page of the comic
book.
• Each page will be put together to make
one comic book to be given to pupils in
year 5 or 6 to learn the story of
Frankenstein and his monster.
4. What do I do?
• Artist – It’s your job to draw the panels for your comic
book. You need to talk to the researchers and decide
where the characters should be drawn in your panel.
• Researchers – You need to read through your act
and decide what ‘events’ need to be included in your
comic book page.
• Writer – You need to decide on what speech bubbles
or text should be included in each panel.
5. Now use the comic book template
to plan your draft.
• Remember to work as a team!
• Think about where you will place the text
boxes and thought bubbles to explain the
action.
• Whilst the artist is drawing the characters
the writer can write the text boxes on the
other template.
6. Plenary
• How well have you worked in your group?
• Now mark another group’s comic strip
using the critera we agreed from the
starter activity.
• Hand in your plenary sheets as you leave
the class.
