The document discusses the 5R's of waste management - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. It provides examples of actions for each of the 5R's, such as bringing reusable shopping bags, writing on both sides of paper, reusing containers, and recycling paper, glass, plastic and electronics. Implementing the 5R's can help reduce waste sent to landfills, conserve resources and energy, create jobs in recycling industries, and lead to a cleaner environment with less disease.
3. Need of 5R's
Reduces waste disposed off in landfills
Saves energy and natural resources
Creates livelihood by recyclablecollection
Wealth recovery
Recovery of energy, compost, biogas,etc.
Clean environment, less disease

9. Importance of 5r's
Waste has become a big challenge for the environment and humans in
modern times. Our water bodies, our grasslands, our fields, our public
spaces; all of them are being affected by the waste we discard. It is
important to take steps for Refusing, Reducing, Reusing and knowing
about Recycling at a young age. It is important to know what we
actually need and what we just want.
