Students were asked to voluntarily lift and turn their right leg clockwise while seated. While continuing this movement, they were instructed to simultaneously lift their right hand and draw the number 6 in the air. This caused their right leg to automatically and involuntarily turn anti-clockwise, demonstrating how a new voluntary command can override a previous voluntary action through reflexive behavior controlled by the central nervous system.

This experiment explains how a fresh command from the Central Nervous
System (CNS) acts upon a previous command.
Students are asked to sit relaxed on their chairs and are told to be
conscious about their right leg and right hand.
They are also made to realise that their leg muscles and
hand muscles are voluntary in nature.

2. Students are then made to lift their right leg at the level of the knee, dangling
the leg freely and ask them to turn the leg clockwise while seated.
Ask them to continue to do so for about 10 - 15 seconds and have some fun…
This now becomes a reflex

3. While talking to them and they continue to turn their RIGHT leg…
give them the next command: ask them to simultaneously lift their
RIGHT hand in the air and keep repeatedly drawing the number 6 in the air…

4. tell them 6… 6…. 6….
ask them to notice their leg
the leg is automatically now turning anti-clockwise…
Ask them why and how does that happen.
