4. INTRODUCTION
The manual system of ticket reservation
takes more time and the number of
reservations per day is limited. To
increase the efficiency of the process,
we go for online ticket reservation
system. This system supports online
iTicket booking.
5. PURPOSE
IF THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF RESERVATION IS
DONE IN A MANUAL MANNER THEN IT WOULD
TAKES SEVERAL MONTHS FOR RESERVATION TO
REACH THE APPLICANT. CONSIDERING THE
FACT THAT THE NUMBER OF PASSENGER IS
INCREASING EVERY YEAR, AN AUTOMATED
SYSTEM BECOMES ESSENTIAL TO MEET THE
DEMAND. SO THIS SYSTEM USES SEVERAL
PROGRAMMING AND DATABASE TECHNIQUES TO
ELUCIDATE THE WORK INVOLVED IN THIS
PROCESS. AS THIS IS A MATTER OF NATIONAL
SECURITY, THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN CAREFULLY
VERIFIED AND VALIDATED IN ORDER TO
SATISFY IT.
6. LITERATURE SURVEY
The prevalent view in various global circles is that man is
presently living in an age growth of information gathering,
processing and dissemination, popularly called the
information age. For this reason, managers and other
users of information especially in transport industries are
demanding more kinds of information to support
management and operations. They must therefore
respond to the increasing requirement for information
and data management. Electronic tickets, or e-tickets,
gives evidence that their holders have the permission to
enter a place of entertainment, use a means of
transportation, or have access to some Internet services.
7. PROBLEMS IN OFFLINE TICKET BOOKING
The traditional way of booking ticket is the
customer need to go to the specific station
where the where he can book tickets and need
to stand in queue and buy the ticket for the
train this will become more difficult for a person
in order to overcome this problem The project
gives real life understanding of online ticket
booking system and activities performed by
various roles in the supply chain. Here we
provide automation for ticket booking system
through internet.
8. SCOPE
• The System provides an online interface to the
user where they can fill in their personal details and
submit the necessary documents (may be by
scanning).
• The authority concerned with the issue of railway
can use this system to reduce his workload and
process the application in a speedy manner.
• Provide a communication platform between the
passenger and the administrator.
• Passenger will come to know their status of
application and the date in which they must subject
themselves for manual document verification.
9. SYSTEM DESIGN
The general tasks involved in the design process are the
following:
1. Design various blocks for overall system processes.
2. Design smaller, compact and workable modules in each
block.
3. Design various database structures.
4. Specify details of programs to achieve desired functionality.
5. Design the form of inputs, and outputs of the system.
6. Perform documentation of the design.
7. System reviews.

It can be observed that computer applications are very important in
every field of human endeavor. Here all the information about
customer that made reservation can be gotten just by clicking a
button with this new system, some of the difficulties encountered with
the manual system are overcome. It will also reduce the workload of
the staff, reduce the time used for making reservation at the bus
terminal and also increase efficiency. The application also has the
ability to update records in various files automatically thereby
relieving the company’s staff the stress of working from file security of
data. This project, as a whole, will give a new way in bus reservations
and ticketing processes. The automation and management of seats
and reservations will be done online. However, this project does not
limit the walk-in passengers that is passengers who visit the
company’s counter because it also caters for them. This also lessens
the use of papers like in the traditional way of ticketing
