WHAT IS UNEMPLOYABLITY
?
India is often billed as a country that will
provide human capital to the rest of the world.
Because the overall numbers of graduates are
so vast, the small percentage of employable
graduates still represents an impressive,
sizeable number able to satisfy global and
domestic demand.
 This leaves behind large swathes of poorly
skilled graduates who have few chances for
upward mobility, and can contribute little to the
country’s need to innovate and compete
UNEMPLOYABLITY IN INDIA
According to Aspiring Minds National
Employability Report, which is based on a study
of more than 1,50,000 engineering students
who graduated in 2015 from over 650 colleges,
80% of the them are unemployable.
Kerala and Odisha entered the top 25 percentile
list of most employable states while Punjab and
Uttarakhand dropped to the 2nd and 3rd
quartile.

HOW TO IMPROVE
EMPLOYABLITY
 Midst the tens of thousands of management
graduates churned out by the 5,500 B-schools in the
country, only 7 per cent turn out to be employable,
says a study conducted by ASSOCHAM. India Today
delved into the causes behind such a dismal picture.
UNEMPLOYABLITY IN MBA
According to NSDC, the real estate sector will
have a requirement of 76 million skilled workers
by 2022. The problem stems from students not
getting the necessary skills required for a job.
 Due to lack of skill institution, even though we
would have a lot more labor but will drastically
lack in skilled labor

OTHER SECTORS
 There is a real concern about employability because of
the large number of engineering graduates that India
produces every year, outdated curriculum, poor
teaching infrastructure and shortage of good faculty,
particularly in institutes lower down the order, said IIT
directors that ET spoke to.
But they termed numbers thrown up by some surveys
— a recent one said as much as 95% of engineering
graduates were unfit for programming jobs — as
exaggerated.

  • 3. India is often billed as a country that will provide human capital to the rest of the world. Because the overall numbers of graduates are so vast, the small percentage of employable graduates still represents an impressive, sizeable number able to satisfy global and domestic demand.  This leaves behind large swathes of poorly skilled graduates who have few chances for upward mobility, and can contribute little to the country’s need to innovate and compete UNEMPLOYABLITY IN INDIA
  • 4. According to Aspiring Minds National Employability Report, which is based on a study of more than 1,50,000 engineering students who graduated in 2015 from over 650 colleges, 80% of the them are unemployable. Kerala and Odisha entered the top 25 percentile list of most employable states while Punjab and Uttarakhand dropped to the 2nd and 3rd quartile.
