-oThe Dean, Dr Sunanda briefed me the necessity for students in final year Bcom and BBM to understand the expectations from
prospective employers . The key focus was to orient them on how to prepare their resume , hone their skills for Group
discussions.
-0 The session began with a warm up discussion asking the students to answer with a “Show of hands” a set of a “Multiiple
Choice question “ as to their preference of choices after their final year for

B. B. A job and career in commerce & Management OR
C. Start a business on their own
The highest preference was to get a job in commerce or management
-----0 The next activity was the “Attitude Game” where they worked out the Value for knowledge , Skills and Attitude and post the
game it was clear to them that the right attitude ensures that knowledge and skills can be acquired and developed for career
success
-----0 The students were briefed on “The selection funnel “ on how at different stages recruiters select and reject candidates on
Resumes ,Academic Scores & entrance tests.
------0 We discussed the structure of the resume and how on needs to look at “ ACES” a approach of documenting four aspects as
freshers into the resume of “Academics , Co- Curricular activities , Extra-curricular activities & Social Volunteering “ with also
documenting certifications and the level of proficiency be it on “Tally” or any other skill. We also discussed including internships,
and part time jobs if done by students and how and where to document the same .
-----------0 We than looked at the selection criterion for group discussion and the interview process and how one can master the
GD & interview process in brief .
------------0 The last activity in the 60 minute session focused on working on “strengths” followed by Q & A and Vote of thanks
------------0 The feedback of the session was taken by the HOD, commerce department through the student coordinators and the
feedback was that the students found session 1 by Shravan Shetty useful , practical and easy to understand
4. General Observations
1. The warm hospitality and orientation of speakers on the ethos of the institution and it's values and approach
to student involvement and student development is exemplary with both faculty and students interacting with
Speakers
2.Noticed the planning and implementation for the program involving faculty and students in measure of balance
with students self managing this program.
Individual leadership of the commerce department and involvement is noteworthy.
Students set up the backdrop, take responsibility in beginning the program , welcoming the guests on the dais as
well as self organize themselves during the break and during the sessions ensuring discipline
3. During the program , the earnestness and student involvement is to be appreciated as well as the presence of
the faculty
4. The involvement of the Dean, Dr Sunanda, Commerce HOD Prof Muni Venkatappa & Dr Vijayalakshmi ,
Coordinator IQAC in encouraging students to inspire them to leverage the program is a catalyst for career
readiness and job preparation is a best practice
5. Our planned focus on talking to students about the job market , opportunities for students to pursue their
careers as well as the resume ,interview and GD process had a lot of reasonance with the students responding
and clarifying their doubts apart from engaging with interest and purpose
5. Employability Self- Study & self management tips

1. Take up a internship project during holidays be it a mini project for a week at least
2.Build a master CV where everything is documented and than based on job being applied , resume can be created
3. Read in library or pick up “past “ magazines of “Spardha Vijtha and competition success review to practice for GD
4. Discussed how they can form groups in class and have one group judge the other group of students and give
them marks as in a formal group discussion
5. Practice with mock interviews with frequently asked interview questions
6. Speak to Seniors who are in similar jobs and find out what they do on their job on a daily basis. Prepare for the
knowledge , skills and work attitude required to get into that job.
7. Build resumes and update on Job sites
8. Create Profile on LinkedIn and update resume there
9. Look at profiles of graduate fresher BBM and Bcom Students and look at the jobs they are in to identify possible
careers students can get into.
