AS Media G321 - Evaluation of Main Task: 'The Three'
Q5- How did you attract/address your target audience?
1. How did you attract/address
your target audience?
2. •A clear way in which I attracted my target
audience was by clearly establishing the
thriller genre, which is liked mainly by
teenagers; therefore creating an opening
sequence with an obvious genre would
hopefully attract the right type of people.
3. • A vital part of addressing the correct target audience was learnt through my
audience research. I asked a series of questions (attached on a different post
within my blog) to ensure I knew exactly what conventions of thriller films
my target audience enjoyed, common answers where the tension and
suspense. Consequently I stated my opening sequence by establishing the
sinister location and continued with the slow pace whilst my character was
revealed, the pace then speeds up and the clip is left on a cliff hanger. .
From this I have tried to successfully include the conventions my target
audience enjoy to attract them to my media product.
4. • An easy way to attract my target audience is to create a main
character of their age and possibly try and develop a narrative they
could relate to.
• The opening logos are an easy way to show the audience what to
expect of the film, as if it opens with a Warner logo, the audience
know they are watching a high budget well known film.
Conversely my logo not being recognised will tell the audience
they are watching a much smaller scale alternative film.
• This is supported by the opening titles, as the actors being shown
on the screen won’t be huge names such as George Clooney, they
will be names the audience probably haven’t heard of so this once
again addresses to the audience that this is a small scale film. This
music throughout the opening of the film helps instantly attract
the audience to the film as makes them feel anxious and uneasy
from the start.
