2. Conventions of the poster design
Within slasher film poster, the aesthetic is largely the same.
The poster features: the killer or some iconography
to associate with the antagonist (such as a mask),
red, black and white colour schemes, simple fonts,
a tagline and credits (usually the director and writers, as
c cast isn’t usually a focus in these films, due to their
in identity being hidden a lot of the time). The logo is
sd also very simplistic
3. Simple logo
A lot of horror films, especially slashers
have logos that are simply the name in
a simple font in red, black or white. This
is because it is not the main focus of the
poster, and the imagery is supposed to draw
your attention, and the title is just supposed to
fit the rest of the images on the poster.
4. Imagery
In slasher film posters, the killer is often
shown as the main focus of the poster,
as they are essentially the most important
character. I don’t think that the killer should be
revealed as it is an integral plot point so giving
it away so early would compromise the whole
story so I shall not be using it.
5. The Blair Witch Project
This poster features a frightened face of one of
the protagonist, some background of the story,
the forest, details of who worked on the film and
an icon that is based off one of the structures
within the film. This is a plausible format as I
don’t want to reveal the antagonist in any
promotional material. As my film takes place in
a wood and starts off in a similar way, I could
use these conventions.
