The South African Flag
Flag meaning
• Black, green and yellow are the colors of Nelson
  Mandela's political party.
• The flag incorporates also the colors of the
  former Boer republics flags (red, white, and blue).
• The Y shape represents South Africa's diverse
  society and unity.
• The past meanings of the colors were that red
  stands for bloodshed, blue for open blue skies,
  green for the land, black for the black people,
  white for the European people and yellow for the
  natural resources such as gold.

National Anthem
• Our national anthem is written in five widely
  spoken languages namely : Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho,
  Afrikaans and English
• Our national anthem is like a plea to God
  asking him to protect our country.
• It also encourages unity amongst the citizens
  of South Africa
