Five senses poetry eg
1. Five Senses Poetry
Here is a simple, yet imaginative way to write a good poem. Think of an emotion or an
abstract idea and then describe it by using your five senses. Examples of emotions or
ideas you might want to write about are: love, peace, happiness, beauty, boredom, envy,
anger, hate, fear, etc. Read the examples below, think of your own original idea, and in
no time you will be the author of a unique piece of poetry!
• Make sure your poems reflect an understanding of the BIG IDEA and complete 2
of them as they are quite short.
1. Problems
Problems are black.
They sound like children crying.
They taste of castor oil
and smell like spinach.
They make you feel unwanted.
2. Escape
Boredom has no color-it is invisible.
It has no sound,
and it tastes like garlic salt.
Boredom smells like dust centuries old.
Boredom feels like numbness.
3. Satisfaction
Peace is a rainbow of color.
It smells like a rose,
and it tastes like sugar.
Peace sounds like a bluebird
and feels like a handshake.
2. Wonderful World
I can see
Trees and grass,
The sun and sky;
I can taste
Chocolate ice cream,
Apple pie;
I can hear
Music, laughter,
Words you said;
I can smell
Perfume, flowers,
Baking bread;
I can touch
Silk and velvet,
A baby's skin;
What a wonderful
World I'm in!
