An action is a movement or a set of movements. Ex: I like to sing songs that have actions, such as  “ The Itsy Bitsy Spider.” Compare means to see how two or more things  are the same or different.  Ex:  I compared the pictures in the two books and  decided to read the one with photographs .  Unit 5  Week 1 Unit 5: Week 1 action compare This is a  book  with no  pictures.  Gentle means kind and not rough. Ex: The mother dog was gentle with her newborn puppies. When an animal pounces, it jumps on something  suddenly and grabs it.  Ex: My cats like to sneak up and pounce on a ball of yarn.  Unit 5  Week 1 Unit 5: Week 1 gentle pounces
A parent is a mother or father.  Ex: The little cub’s parents are two big grizzly bears.  Information is facts that help you learn about something.  Ex:  We can learn a lot of information about animals in books. Unit 5:  Week 2 Unit 5: Week 2 parent information content When you are content, you feel happy and satisfied. Ex:  Justin is content to play in the sandbox all day . Unit 5:  Week 2 fragile When something is fragile, it is easily broken. Ex: Mom’s glass vase is fragile.  Unit 5: Week 2
A habitat is the place where a plant or animal lives. Ex: The monkey’s habitat is the rain forest.  A responsibility is something that you are supposed to do. Ex:  Feeding the dog is Megan’s responsibility .  Unit 5:  Week 3 Unit 5: Week 3 habitat responsibility several Several means many or more than a few. Ex: We have several crayons in our classroom.  Unit 5: Week 2 belong If you belong to a group, you are a part of it. Ex: Sara belongs to the library's Reading Club. Unit 5: Week 2 Library Club
Beneath means underneath or lower than. Ex: Pilar put a placemat beneath her plate. To raise is to look after children or young animals until they are grown. Ex: The duck will raise her ducklings until they can swim and find food on their own.  Unit 5:  Week 3 Unit 5: Week 3 beneath raise When you enter a place, you go into it.  Ex: Our dog, Spot, enters the house through the doggy door.  Unit 5:  Week 3 enter
