Funds from the 1969 and 1970 Auctions were used
to help the Bainbridge Island Historical Society move
an old school building (now the museum) from school
property to a new site at Strawberry Hill Park.
Auction funds also helped pay for the building’s
heating, display cases, and a new roof.

Rotary paid the cost ($1,500) to place the measure on the
ballot. Creation of the district approved by the voters in
May, 1965.
• 1965 Park commissioners
First park commissioners were Dick Adair, Vann Bucklin,
Lou Frohning, Russ Johnson, and Nob Koura, and Jack
Gordon was appointed secretary.
• 1966: Rotary Field donated

• 1966: Strawberry Hill & Eagledale
US government decided to sell former Nike missile
sites. Park District asked Rotary to make the initial
$7,000 payment so the sites could be purchased.
• 1971: Strawberry Hill park improvements
Rotary donated $5,340, so Park District could receive
state & federal matching funds

The Rotary Club has for its purpose the
